THE DEMON'S RIVAL

Episode 1

It was a sunny day in the land of the fallen Angels, when a thick wind suddenly began to blow. The wind came with a dark cloud and soon the sun was replaced with a black moon.

Fear was clearly written in the faces of the citizen as everyone ran into their abode, wondering what could have caused such a strange occurrence.

It was at this moment the sacred golden bell in the kingdom of the fallen angels began to ring.

"This is a sign that calamity is about to befall the earth" A seer muttered.

"All elders should assembly in the palace now" Lord Andrew commanded.

Minutes later,they are all seated with fear and anxiety clearly written on their faces.

"You all know the reasons why I called you hear, the prophecy that has been revealed to us years ago is about to be fulfilled..we have to be prepared and braced up for what's about to come" Lord Andrew finally broke the silence. " We have to send a message to the parents of the chosen one. The time has come to fulfill her destiny"

"But my lord..Should we trust Saphira with this duty? I mean she's still young and naive" one of the elders said..

"Mind your words..she is the chosen one" Another elder scolded..

"Excuse me! I'm just expressing my view" The first elder fired..

"Enough of this arguments! Whether she's capable or not,is none of our business.All that matters is that she has been chosen to save humanity and doubting her is like committing a great sin..So we have to trust her, hope I am understood? " Lord Andrew hoarsed.

"Yes my Lord" chorused the elders.

" Miriana! send a word to jun pyo and Sofia..i would like to speak with them" Lord commanded..

Miriana is one of the faithful cabinets of Lord Andrew..She is just like a daughter to him..

"Yes my lord" she said with a slight bow,before walking out.

Saphira's POV

"Saphira! Mirabel! Kizito! come down quickly,it's time for breakfast" Mum called out.

"Okay mum, I'm coming" I half yelled..

I quickly took my bath, wore a casual dress and rushed downstairs..

It's weekend,so I won't be going to college today. But my friends are organizing a house party this evening and i have been invited,I just hope mum agrees.

My parents has never allowed me to go to anywhere apart from school..

I would have sneak out if not for the silly body guard they have sent to watch over me.. I even tried doing that but cilia my annoying bodyguard managed to catch me.

Aish! My life really sucks..

"Good morning " I greeted as I took my seat..

"Morning baby..Hope you slept well?" Mum asked..

"Yes mum" I giggled. "So what's up for breakfast"

"I made your favorite food" mum happily said..

"Really! You're so sweet mum" I giggled and gave her a peck..

"Here we go again,Saphira this! Saphira that! Can you guys just stop all this drama?" kisito suddenly hoarsed.

"Looks like someone is jealous" I teased..

"Jealous? I'm not jealous" he scoffed..

"Whatever" I rolled my eyes.

"Okay guys,enough of the argument. Let's eat" dad interrupted..

We all kept quiet and digged into food,enjoying every bit of it.

"Mum I will be going over to my friends house party tonight" kizito suddenly said.

"Aww my baby boy is all grown up now. Just be careful" mum said,pulling his cheeks playfully.

"Same here mum, I would also like to go to my friend's party.They invited me over" I interrupted,hoping she agrees..

"No! You're not going" Mum abruptly replied.

"But mum,you gave kizito permission to go to his friend's party. Why can't I also go?"

"I said No! How many times do I have to tell you that for some reasons,your movements will be restricted" Mum

"Which reasons mum? I'm no longer a child for crying out loud" I cried.

"I know baby but out there is too dangerous for you" mum leaned forward to cover my hand with hers. "I'm your mother and whatever I do is for your good"

"You keep on telling me this same flimsy excuse,I can take care of myself you know" I yanked off her hand.

"Why are you so stubborn? Alex please explain to her that what I'm doing is for her own good"

"Your mum is right honey,we're your parents and whatever we do is for your best interest" Dad said.

"I know you will support her. Since i was a child,you guys kept on controlling me like I was a robot" I cried. "Saphira stay here! Saphira do this! Saphira don't do this! I am feeling suffocated, I am sick and tired of being controlled" I yelled and ran to my room..

"Come back here! Saphira!!! " Mum called but I ignored her..

I got to my room and fell on my bed,crying my eyes out..

Why is my parents making my life miserable?

Why can't they just let me live my life the way I want..

And what could the strange reasons be?

I really want to attend this party even my crush will be there. No! I will have to look for a way to sneak out..

Just then my hand fell on something, I looked down and was shocked to see that my bed was filled with pearls.

Omg! My tears are turning to pearls.

"Mum!!" I screamed,shocked.

I looked down on my bed and I discovered it was covered with pearls..

Oh my gosh! My tears are turning into pearls...

"Mum!!" I screamed.

In a short while, all my family members rushed in.

"Saphira what's wrong?" Mum worriedly asked.

"Erm..there..erm.." I stuttered.Due to the shock,I couldn't say anything.

"What are you trying to say? You're scaring me" Mum said..

"Omg! Look at her bed mum,it's covered with pearls" Mirabel exclaimed..

"What the hell! Where did you get the pearls from?" Kizito asked,touching them..

"Mum..my tears..turned to ..this pearls" I stammered..

"What! Are you sure of what you're saying?" Dad asked..

"This is ridiculous! How can your tears turn to pearls?" Kizito sneered..

"I'm serious..why would I make a joke out of this?" I defended but looks like no one believes what I'm saying.

"And you expect us to believe that" Kizito said. Sarcasm dripping from every word. "Mum I think she stole these pearls and she is just trying to cover up"

"You don't believe me right? Now watch this"

I angrily struck my hand on the wall causing me to scream out in pain..

"Have you gone mad? Why do you have to do that?" Mum scolded, caressing my hand..

Oh! I forgot to tell you that mum pampers me like a baby.. When I'm wrong she scolds others and hardly shouts at me..Although I'm the first child,she treats me like I was the last child.

Pretty strange right?

This has made my siblings angry with me,they get jealous and blames me for taking all of mum's love..But it's not my fault you know,there's nothing I can do about that..

"I had to do that so that you guys will believe me" I cried...

And right before their eyes,my tears turned into pearls..

"Omg! Her tears are really turning to pearls" Mirabel exclaimed..

"Mum what's going on? What's happening to me?" I asked,trying to stop my tears from dropping.

"Uhm..erm.." She stuttered..

"Answer me mum! Who are my? Don't tell me am not a human" I asked with a wide opened eyes..

Could it be that I'm a mermaid?

I have read a lot of stories about mermaid and someone told me that mermaids do cry out pearls. I hope I'm not one..

"Of course you're a human. But you're a special human" mum finally said.

"Thank goodness I'm a human" I heaved a sigh of relief. "But why is my tears turning to pearls?"

"Because you're special. You possess some supernatural powers" Mum replied.

"Oh now I get it! No wonder you care for her more than us" kizito blurted out.

"No dear! What are you saying? I care for all of you. And moreover,you all posesses supernatural powers. You guys must keep it a secret,no one must find out about this" Mum warned.

"You're really getting me confused mum! How can a human possess supernatural powers? Is there something you're not telling us? " I asked with a furrowed brow.

"Can you stop being inquisitive? You're a human with supernatural powers,that's all you should know for now. When the time is right,I will answer all your questions" Mum said sternly. " For now,keep those pearls properly i will think of what to do with it later"

"But....

"This conversation is over! Everybody to your room" Mum commanded and everyone scurried out..

Kizito's POV

I was in my room chatting with my friends online..

They all look happy to attend the party, even festus my best friend will be attending the party..

I will have to look cute and hot tonight, so that all the ladies won't be able to take their eyes off me..

I drew open my wardrobe, searching for the best dress.

"I think this jeans is cool" I thought as I picked up the blue jeans trouser which mum had bought as my last birthday gift.

I heard a knock.

"Come in" I answered, still focused on what I was doing.

The door cracked open.

"Kizito!" A voice suddenly called out.

I turned back and it was Saphira!

"You?"

"Yeah it's me" She grinned.

"I thought you should be resting. Why are you here?"

"Is that even a question? I came to see you of course"

"See me? "

" Yes.. I have really missed you" She grinned.

"Missed me?" I repeated in disbelief. "But I'm just coming out of your room"

" Yeah I know. But I just suddenly missed you and felt like spending some time with you" She said,pouting her lips.

I know those looks! I'm sure she wants something from me..

"What do you want from me?" I blurted.

"Huh! Is it bad to spend some time with my brother?" She asked and winked at me..

"Can you stop your drama? I have a party to attend"

"Fine! I need your help to sneak out of the house. I would also like to attend my friend's party"

"What! But mum said you can't go"

"I know. That's why I need your help to sneak out"

"No! I can't do that" I said.

"But why?"

"Because if mum finds out,she will scold me without saying a word to you"

"I won't let mum scold you,I will take the blame"

"You know mum will never shout at you,I wonder why she loves you more than us"

"You're wrong,mum loves us all and you know that" She calmly said.

"Really! Then watch this" I said and dragged her out by her wrist..

"What are you doing? You're hurting me" She cried..

I ignored her..

I looked down stairs and saw my parents seated on the couch,looks like they are discussing..

I will prove to Saphira that mum loves her more than us..

"Kizito stop it" She cried,still struggling to set herself free from my grip..

But mistakenly she missed a step and fell down rolling down stairs..

"Saphira!" I screamed,trying to catch her..

Saphira's pov

I was struggling with kizito and I didn't know when I missed a step and crashed downstairs..

I don't think I will survive this fall..

I closed my eyes as I kept on rolling,hitting my head on the strong tiles..

After a while,I noticed that I was no longer rolling..

I slowly opened my eyes and to my surprise kizito, I was in kizito arms.

How is that possible?

"Thanks" I muttered as he dropped me.

"Are you hurt? Are you feeling any pain?" Mum worriedly asked, rushing towards me.

"I'm fine mum" I managed to say.

"What happened! How did you slip off the stairs"

"I..was.." Kizito tried to say but I cut him off.

"I'm sorry mum I was.trying..to..come downstairs and I didn't know when I missed a step but kizito saved me" I stuttered.

I'm sure mum won't spare him if she finds out what really happened..

"You should be careful. What would have happened if kizito didn't save you in time. " Mum reprimanded.

" I am sorry mum" I muttered.

"It's okay. I'm so proud of you Kizzy" Mum turned to Kizito beaming with smiles..

"Thanks mum"

"But how did you manage to catch me within such a short period of time?" I asked with wide opened eyes.

" I don't know how that happened" he explained..

"Oh my God! This means you have the ability to super speed" I exclaimed..

Saphira's POV

"But how were you able to catch me within such short period of time?" I asked confused..

"I don't know how it happened"

"Wait! That means you have the ability to super speed" I exclaimed..

"Really? I think that's a mistake" he shrugged.

"You wouldn't know if you don't try give it a try"

"Okay" He started running slowly and all of a sudden his speed increased to that of a lightning.

He ran around the house,giggling as he super speed around us..

"Whaoooh! It's fun" He yelled in excitement.

"Can you stop that?" Mum scolded and he stopped abruptly.

"Don't forget that no one must find out about your powers and you're not allowed to make use of them until when the appointed time comes"she added..

"Okay mum!" We chorused.

"Go to your rooms,I will go prepare dinner" mum said and walked out

"Saphira..I'm.sorry...I didn't mean to hurt you" kizito turned to me as soon as mum left.

"But you did kizito..what's wrong with you? How could you harbor such negative thoughts?" I asked.

"I'm really sorry Saphira...I was the one that hurt you but instead of telling mum you covered up for me. How could I think of hurting my own sister,I'm really ashamed of myself "

"It's okay..No matter what happens,just know that we are siblings for life"

"Sure" He replied and we giggled.

Kizito might be rude and arrogant with other girls but he doesn't joke with me..

I remembered how he nearly killed one weird dude who wanted to take advantage of me..

"Are you still interested in going to the party?" He asked.

"No! I have had enough drama for today. I'll attend the party some other time"

"Okay I will go get ready for my party"

Sofia's POV

We have a lot of helpers in the house but I prefer cooking for my family for security reasons..

I entered the kitchen to prepare dinner for the family but I couldn't concentrate..

My children are gradually discovering their powers and this can put them in danger..

I just wanted a peaceful family,why is this happening to me?

I know that I promised to let Saphira fulfill her call but I'm scared..

What if she gets killed?

How can I let my precious Saphira to go fight demons? It's absurd..

I was still lost in my thoughts when I suddenly felt a hand wrapped around my waist,making me to flinch.

I turned back and it was Jun pyo.

"It's you! You startled me"

"And what's troubling my beautiful wife" Jun pyo asked..

"Its nothing" I lied..

"I know you, something is definitely troubling you. What is it?" He worriedly asked and cupped my face.

"I'm worried about Saphira,her powers are beginning to manifest.. Could it be that the appointed time is near? "

"Why are you getting yourself all stressed up? What will be, will be and there's nothing you can do about that."

"But...

"Let's don't discuss about that..Since the children are not here I would like to spend some time alone with my wife" he said caressing my face..

"Stop it jun pyo..what if someone sees us?" I blushed.

"I don't care if they sees us. All I want now, is to romance my wife" he said and crash his lips on mine..

I kissed him too,enjoying the moment..

"Ewwwwww! Can't you guys do this in your room" Mirabel suddenly said..

We quickly broke from the kiss.

Omg! My children are here.

This is so embarrassing.

"Two old love birds" kizito teased..

"Your mother is really attractive..I can't seem to take my eyes off her" jun pyo said and they all burst out laughing..

"Mum is even blushing like a seventeen year old girl" Saphira teased.

"Why are you guys making fun of your mother? come here I will teach you all a lesson" I said,running after them as we ran around the house.

Today looks cloudy, it's as if it is gonna rain anytime soon.

The kids has already left for school,even jun pyo had gone to work. So I was only the one at home.

Suddenly,the house became dark.

I wasn't alarmed because I was informed that Lord Andrew will be visiting today,but I wasn't expecting him now..

The darkness gradually cleared away revealing Lord Andrew and some of his cabinet members.

I quickly glanced at the helpers and as usual Lord Andrew had put them into deep sleep..

"Greetings my Lord! It's a pleasure to have you in my house" I said with a slight bow..

"I'm not here for pleasantries.I'm worried about what's to happen" He calmly said.

Lord Andrew is the current leader of our clan. He's a good leader who had been ruling the fallen Angels for years now. Although he's a bit strict, he always makes sure that peace and tranquility reigns in the kingdom.

"What could be troubling my Lord?"

"When the sheep is endangered and his shepherd is in oblivion,the sheep's cry for help is in vain" He said pacing to and fro.

"You speak in parables my Lord. I don't seem to comprehend what you're saying"

"The divine bell in our kingdom has signified that destruction is about to befall the earth..its time to tell the chosen one about it,before it's too late" He finally dropped the bombshell.

No! This can't be happening.

"But.uhm.." I stuttered but he cut me off.

"Looking through your heart,I can see you're worried..But you have to do this for humanity sake,don't let your emotions control you" He said and I slightly bowed my head in sadness.

"You have to do this Sofia. We will be waiting for you" he echoed and vanished with others following suit.

I let out a deep breath.

Poor Saphira! She doesn't even know what awaits her.

After a while,the helpers got up not knowing what had happened to them.

"What are you guys waiting for? Go back to your duties" I yelled,pouring my frustration on them.

Sapphira's POV

The school bell finally rung..

"Thank goodness! It's school over" I muttered and heaved a sigh.

Today's lecture was boring.

I woke up this morning with a strange urge to visit the sea shore.

I couldn't go because of my lectures.

But I think this is the best time to. Luckily, there's one close to my school.

I picked up my school bag and made to leave when I noticed that someone was behind me.

I turned back and it was my annoying bodyguard.

"You!" I flinched back.

"Where are you going to" She asked blinking her eyes.

"It's none of your business. I'll be going out for a while but I'll be back soon. Wait for me here" I hoarsed and turned to leave.

" I'm sorry miss but I can't do that"

I scoffed. "Who the hell do you think you are to go against my wish?"

"I was employed by your mum and I follow only her orders" She calmly replied.

" Tsh! I can't believe this"

There's no need arguing further with her. I'm sure she won't let me leave alone.

What should I do?

I was still pondering on what to do when I heard a familiar voice.

"Saphira! What are you doing here?"

I turned back. Kizito!

"Thank goodness you're here." I let out a deep breath. "I want to go to the sea shore but my bodyguard won't let me go" I said

"Why do you want to go to the sea shore? "

"I don't know. I just feel like going there today" I shrugged . " Please come with me, I don't want to go with my annoying bodyguard" I pouted like a baby.

"Fine!" He turned to my bodyguard "We will be going out for a while. Tell mum I took my sister out" Kizito said and walked out.

"Thanks! " I giggled and followed suite.

We entered into kizito's car and drove off. We chatted and talked about different stuffs.
