Chapter 1 FIVE YEARS TO THE DAY

THE ESCAPE

Joe had grown up since they had taken Mark. He now knew that it was time to return for his partner in crime. To the psychiatric unit, he was being observed at. Mark had not spoken since the day that they had taken him from Ghostly Hill for five long years. Were things about to change, was his silence about to be broken now that Joe had returned?

Joe's facial expression had changed. He was back, and back with a plan. His hair scruffy, and a little longer than it was five years ago. Dressed in black head to toe he may stick out in the asylum. As he entered he slipped into a white cloak covering his dark clothing. A badge on the left acquiring a name that was not his, .a clipboard in his left hand. He looked the part as he walked down the corridor. To the computer typing in "Mark Morrison." He acquired the information taking the keys and the security card to enter the wing Mark was on.

He walked down many of the corridors using the security card for access to the different levels. The door opened. Joe stepped in closing the door behind him.

Mark looked up at him.

'Mark what the fuck have you done to yourself?'

'Joe that you?'

'Well der!'

'Your sense of humour aint changed a bit.'

'Come on we're getting you out of here.'

'About time. Took you long enough.'

'Had to lye low for awhile. Had to make them, think I were dead daint I?'

'Guess you did.'

'Come on.'

'How are we going to get out of here?'

'Just slip out.'

'They'll stop you.'

'Mmh.' He looked at Mark. 'So you coming or what?'

'No need to ask twice.' He said pulling himself up off the bed.

Joe opened the door. They stepped out into the corridor, Joe closing the door locking it.

They walked down the corridor.

'Hey he's not supposed to be out of his room.'

'Really.' Joe said slicing his abdominal and throat.

Screams echoed through the corridors through the blood fest as Joe and Mark made their way out of the Asylum.

Joe pulled two miniature samurai's out of his cloak slicing the doctor's and nurses throats.

'I see that you've still got it.'

'What's the quickest way out of here?'

'Down there the back door.'

They took a sharp left down the corridor towards the back door.

'Hey what are you doing down here?'

Joe turned his clipboard round the nails sliced across their face ripping the flesh open. They fell to the hard surface; Joe impounded them with the nails. 'Got to make sure their dead.'

'Impressive.'

'Come on lets go.'

They walked away, the blood pooling the newly cleaned floor.

Joe opened the back door with a crowbar.'

'You've really thought of everything.'

Joe opened the back door. 'Come on the car's waiting.'

They walked out of the back door jumping the hedge. Jumping into the open top BMW. The roof closed as he turned the key. Wheel spinning away the dark coloured car with tinted out windows.

'Something you not telling me?'

'Ghostly Hill.'

'What about it?'

'We need to find those that slipped away and take them back.'

'Sure that's all?'

'And much much more.'

'How are we going to pull it off Joe?'

'Cat. I believe that she works at our old high school.'

'Do you think that she'll be up for it?'

'She loves me. What more can I say.' He said turning the corner.

Chapter 2 REUNITED

It was getting on for three thirty in the afternoon. Caitlin was in the middle of tidying up the classroom after another hectic afternoon with the year elevens, she hadn't even noticed the dark clothed male walk into the classroom.

The door closed.

Caitlin turned, dropping her book on the floor. Her face turning a white shade of ghost.

'You that happy to see me?'

She stood speechless looking at a face she'd hoped to have forgotten.

'I take that as a yes.'

She starred saying nothing, just staring.

He smiled.

'Say something then.'

'Joe?! But I thought.'

'Surprised?'

'What are you doing here? It's been five years. Everyone thinks that you're dead.'

'As you can see I am not.'

'Why are you here Joe?'

'To see you.'

'Where's Mark?'

'He's here too.'

'Where?'

'He thought it would be best it would be best if I saw you alone.'

'Why?'

'So I could say sorry. So we could make up.'

'I don't know Joe it's been five years.'

'Five years too long. Now I'm back and I want to make it up to you.'

'I don't know Joe.' She said unsure after what had happened during their time at Ghostly Hill.'

He walked over to her. 'Come on Cat I never stopped thinking about you. Not once.'

He put his hand out. His eyes hypnotising her.

She took his hand, he pulled her close placing his lips on hers kissing her. The hairs on the back of her neck standing on edge as he kissed her hungrily. A coldness passing through her body.

He pulled away. 'Come on let's go back to yours.'

'I don't know Joe.'

He stared at her. She looked at him, transfixed in his dark deceiving eyes. 'Okay.' She sighed. He smiled leading her out of the classroom and the school.

She closed the flat door behind them, Joe pulled her close placing his lips on hers kissing her. He moved away. 'So can we start again?'

'I don't know Joe. Especially after the last time.'

'Just remember who ran the last time.' He said leading her into the bedroom. Gliding his hand down her face. 'Remember the first time we made out?'

'How can I forget?'

'We can have that once again.'

'So you can leave?'

'I won't. Just remember the last time and who it was that ran.'

He placed his lips on hers before she responded. They kissed hungrily, undressing.

Her head hitting the pillow as he kissed down her body goose bumps tingled through her body. He kissed her numb body making love to her.

Their nails piercing through each others skin dragging down their naked bleeding flesh, as he continued making love to her.

Caitlin opened her eyes. Joe stared down into them. 'Why are you here Joe?'

'To see you. I've already told you.'

'Bull shit Joe. You're talking to me, not those that are dead. I know you remember, you've always got a hidden agenda.'

'Okay. I came to you for your help.'

'Why now?'

'Ghostly Hill needs new recruits.'

'Oh no not this shit again Joe. Everyone died last time.'

'All but five I recall.'

'So you're going to kill us all?'

'Four of you anyway.'

'What do you mean?'

'I want you in on this. You're an English teacher right?'

'I'm filling in.'

'So you can swing it for your class to get an excursion out to Ghostly Hill for a paper?'

'I guess they will be covering it next term.

'Good that gives us time to prepare.'

'For what?'

'You have to have permission right?'

'Yeah.'

'Right we'll start planning. First the archaeologist.'

'Are you sure he'll help you Joe after all.'

'Just say with death hanging over you head you wont say no.'

'And the others?'

'That depends on them doesn't it?'

'So we're all going back to Ghostly Hill?'

'Maybe. Like I said it depends on them. I'm sure Sass will knowing that you'll be there. But as for the other two.'

'Well isn't it best to get every one there if you're doing it for him?'

'Good thinking. You'll be one of us before you know it.'

She smiled inadequately. She didn't want to be any part of this conspiracy, nor did she want to return to a place that they'd ran from. Because she knew when the time finally came he would kill her too. This in itself made her feel nauseous with fear that she would be dead before she woke.

'Me and you babe back together a team once again.'

He pressed his lips on hers kissing her hungrily.

He moved away.

'Look Joe I've really got to go. I've got class in less than an hour.'

'Call in sick, so we can spend today together.'

'I can't. Maybe tomorrow.'

Tomorrow sounded more appealing a whole weekend with her seemed very appealing. . He smiled. 'Sure I'll walk you.'

'Is that wise?'

'No one knows me do they?'

'No.'

'Well then.'

'Okay.' She sighed.

He smiled. Pulling himself up from under the covers dressing, slipping his feet into his boots. 'I'll be in the lounge okay.'

She smiled.

Joe walked out of the bedroom leaving Caitlin to dress. She walked out of the bedroom into the lounge looking at him, unable to believe she'd been roped into his dubious plans. He placed his arm round her kissing her hungrily before they left the flat.

'I'll see you tonight babe.'

'Okay.'

He placed his lips kissing her.

He moved away dropping her hand from his.

They parted company at the high school gates. He watched her walk into the high school where they'd once studied together.

Chapter 3 THE ARCHAEOLOGIST

'So she agreed?'

Joe turned looking directly at Mark. Smiled evilly. 'Of course. She loves me, she always has.'

'So who's next?'

'The archaeologist.'

'Let's go.'

'So you found him?'

'Yep. He's working in one of the labs downtown.'

'Lead the way.'

Mark and Joe walked away from the high school heading for the town centre. They took the slide streets to save time, until they finally reached a large ten storey building. 'In here.' Mark said pushing the door open.

Joe following suit, the door swinging shut behind them. They walked through the masses of corridors and through a security door leading to the basement. 'It's just through here.' Mark said swiping the I.D card.

'Where do you get that?'

'It just happened to be lying around.'

The bolts cranked opening the door.

'Yeah right. You're such a good liar.'

'I know.' He laughed evilly. 'I strangled the janitor acquiring the pin. Poor bugger chocked to his death.'

'Cool.'

'Come on.'

Joe followed Mark through the sixth and final door a three inch thick metal door to the labs. With "strictly forbidden" embossed upon it.

A male stood a little taller than they. With black hair with reddish tint the youngest, and the last of the archaeologists. Joe closed the door, he turned. White washed. 'Joe, Mark, but I thought..'

'Well you thought wrong, and yet you were stupid enough to stay on here. Did it ever cross your tiny little mind we'd be back? And find you. Did you Adam?'

'I transferred here a few years ago. What are you doing here?'

'We want your help.'

'With what exactly?'

'Ghostly Hill ring a bell!'

'Oh no not that place, it's freaked.'

Joe and Mark strode toward Adam making him even more nerved than he was through seeing them. 'All you've got to do is supervise the trip and give the kids a little info on the place that's all.'

'I'm not going back there.'

Mark pushed Adam against the filling cabinet. Joe stared blank at him. 'You'll do it or you shall die!'

'No way. I'm not going back there.'

Joe dug his nails into his pupils. He screamed. 'You shall go.'

'No you'll kill me.'

'We shall spare you if you do this for us.' He said twisting his nails into the iris.

'Okay okay. Stop! I'll come. I'll give the kids all the info they need. Keep me out of the rest.'

'Glad we finally came to an understanding.' Joe said removing his nails from the blooded sockets.

Bloodshot and painful to see through Adam spoke. 'When is all this going down?'

'We'll call you. Some time in the next few weeks okay.'

'Sure.'

'Oh. And Adam don't try anything, because we shall find you and we will kill you.'

'I won't. I promise.'

Mark took his hand from round his throat imprints stained Adams jugular. 'Come on lets get out of here.'

'Soon.'

They turned walking away and out of the labs slipping un-noticed out of the building.

'So who's next?'

'You can do Sass, and we'll do the others together.'

'Sure. We'll meet tomorrow.'

'Okay first thing.'

'What about Cat?'

'She'll be glad of me being out of her hair for a while.'

'If you're sure.'

'I am.'

'High school ten am.'

'Okay tomorrow.'

'Enjoy yourself.'

'Oh I intend to.' He smiled.

Joe smiled evilly. 'Tomorrow.'

'Tomorrow.'

They parted company.
