As soon as I opened my door, I could smell the smoke, and the packed house was resounding with sobs. I frantically searched my surroundings to see if I could spot my family. I yelled for them as I hurried through the corridors. My throat burned as I swallowed more and more smoke, tears streaming down my face. When I finally got outdoors, a loud sob sprang from my mouth when I saw that the grass was covered in blood and that my pack mates' dead bodies were lying there. When I turned around and saw my beloved pack home on fire, my pulse rate quickened, and I experienced a wave of terror.
In the midst of the mayhem, I sat on the ground and let my grief consume me. I didn't pay attention to the ongoing disputes because all I wanted was to be with my family. Before I felt the son of the Beta wrap an arm over my shoulders and around my knees, and I glanced up into his emerald eyes, I had almost given up hope. "What are you doing, Thrain?" I fought against his hold as he said, "Alyssa, we have to go." I could not simply leave. "No, Thrain, we have to go back and help them," I said, pointing to my family and my pack. Though Thrain looked down at me with sorrowful eyes and said, "I'm sorry, Ally; your father ordered me to take you somewhere safe and not look back." I wasn't sure how I could help. I started crying again when I realized that my family was probably dead. Nobody is allowed to defy an Alpha's directives. I just hope my younger brother was able to escape as well. I drew closer to Thrain as I yearned for comfort. That is how I, the Alpha's daughter, turned bad at the tender age of ten. We kept on for two days until we actually fell into the Vicious Peak Pack's domain. The Alpha was very kind to us and allowed us to stay with his family. Because it would lead to too much strife, Thrain and I agreed not to disclose that I was an Alpha's offspring. Instead, we told everyone that I was Thrain's little cousin. With the exception of the Alpha's son, who was incredibly unpleasant and believed he wanted me when I was old enough, they all provided us with shelter and treated us like family. Nine years were spent there. Things got ugly three years into our stay when the Alpha named his son Thomas the next Alpha. He had been attempting to mate with me for years, but I had remained adamant that he wasn't my natural mate. Everyone thinks I'm stronger than a typical she-wolf, but I've always attributed it to my Alpha blood; they believe it comes from my Beta bloodline. They'll never learn the reality. Thrain, I, Beta Josh, and Lauren, his mate, were eating breakfast and conversing at the table when Alpha Thomas stormed in with his fangs extended and his eyes black. Since I already anticipated conflict, I wasn't in the mood for his nonsense today. No one moved, shocked at his scream: "Everyone but Alyssa, leave." He roared in his Alpha tone, "Now!" Lauren was pointing to the side wall as they all stood up to depart. I grinned, understanding that they were eavesdropping. "What can I do to help you with Alpha?" I questioned myself as I went to grab some eggs and shove them in my mouth. "What you pulled last night was unacceptable!" His hands were trembling and on the verge of changing, so he began pacing. "Oh? I would not have kneeled your balls if you hadn't tried to impose yourself on me, I chuckled, enjoying raising his hackles. He stopped pacing and suddenly appeared in front of me, his hand tightening around my throat. I gave him a low growl since my inner wolf didn't like that I wasn't defending myself. Patience "You had better remove your hand before I rip it from the rest of your body." You must mate with me, Alyssa, or I will kill you. Thomas, you couldn't murder me. I rolled my eyes. She wanted his blood, and she wanted it immediately, and I could feel my wolf pulling at my restraint. He is the Alpha and can murder our family; I had to remind her. "Let me go, Thomas. He grinned, thinking he could truly command me. "Alyssa Hawkins, I order you to mate with me and have my pups," he said, standing up straight and letting his Alpha strength pour through him. Before I could stop her, my wolf finally broke through; she didn't like being told what to do. I don't take orders from you, Alpha Thomas! We won't be that female for you since you are a pitiful little boy who can only acquire a girl by forcing her to mate with you. It wasn't me anymore; my wolf had complete control, and her voice could make even the most stern Alphas sob to their mother. "We are leaving your pack, and if anyone follows me and tries to bring me back, I promise I will send them back to you in pieces." Thomas' eyes were wide with fright as he was in shock. I shoved him away from me and hurried upstairs to my room, packing a duffle bag with all of my possessions. Before Lauren rushed up the stairs and into my room, I could hear Josh and Thrain chatting to him downstairs. I shook my head and gathered up my luggage. "No, Lauren, Josh is the beta of this pack, and he has a responsibility." "We have already made our decision; as soon as he tried to order you to mate with him, he lost all of our respect. "He is gradually growing insane." I groaned and left my room because I knew I couldn't persuade them otherwise. "Fine, meet me outside in thirty minutes." Lauren nodded before heading off to pack. My back was against the wall while I was seated on the floor after sliding down the wall. I lowered my head and drew my knees to my chest. I can't believe I'll be a rogue once more; I know my parents would be upset, and I don't even have a partner yet, let alone a pack. I don't want a partner in particular-okay, I do-just the trouble of it all because I don't want to be hurt by someone I love once again. I stand up, clear my head of all my thoughts, and proceed downstairs, where I eventually meet Thomas' father. I grinned at him, and he opened his arms to embrace me. Over the past few years, he has practically been a father figure to me. "I am extremely embarrassed after learning what my son did. I'm really sorry he treated you this way, Alyssa, and I'll make sure he never acts in a similar manner again. If you need anything, call me. He kissed me on the temple. I gave him a nod and expressed my gratitude for all that he had done for Thrain and me over the years. I knew it was difficult for him because his son had just tried to disrupt the intentions of the moon goddess by ordering someone to mate with him. As I make my way outside, I halt in my tracks when I see the thirty or so pack members gathering around with luggage. Standing in the front, Thrain, Josh, and Lauren were all grinning at me. This makes me feel uneasy. "We are all coming with you, Alyssa." Stepping forward, Thrain wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "You all belong to this pack; you can't come." "Not now, Alpha." Thomas informed everyone of your departure and threatened to kill any remaining supporters of yours. Traitors are not welcome in his pack. Lauren grinned at me. I was in her hands. "Fine, let's get out of here." The children climbed onto the backs of their parents as we all shifted and grabbed our backpacks. We felt the connection to the group shatter as we crossed the line, which caused us to stumble a little. No one was racing alongside me or in front when I turned around to see who was running behind me. They were running in a 'V' shape behind me, the way you run when the Alpha is sprinting in front. I suppose I am now the Alpha.
We left the Vicious Peak Pack two years ago, and it was difficult. Don't get me wrong, I love being the Alpha and taking care of my pack, but we had to keep moving before we could settle in one place. Even though it was difficult for everyone, we eventually located some unclaimed land, where we have since made our home. We keep to ourselves and watch out that we don't bother the nearby packs. However, it can be challenging because our once-small pack has expanded to almost 200 wolves, all rogues or lone wolf. We will welcome anyone who wants to join if we come across them.
Being alone is really difficult for us wolves since we are social animals who yearn for the company of other wolves. Don't get me wrong, there are some awful rogues out there, but the most of them have either had their packs attacked, like my parents, or they have been exiled for an absurd reason. For instance, one pair left since the girl's father forbade them from mating because he wasn't a highly rated wolf. They are incredibly content together. We don't pass judgment on anyone, and as long as you haven't killed someone knowingly or on purpose, you are welcome to join us. We even have an Alpha's son with us who was exiled by his father because he is gay. The Silver Thunder Pack is now located a couple of hours' drive from our camp. When we initially arrived, the Beta and the warriors tried to drive us away, so they are aware that we are here. Thrain took charge of the situation and informed them that we merely wanted to settle down in peace and weren't there to cause any problems. They increased their border patrols for the first several months, but I believe they recognized we weren't a threat, so they stopped bothering us as much. Thrain informed the Beta that although the Alpha dislikes rogues near his area, he can't do much because we are on unclaimed land. Our tiny camp is fantastic; the main area, where we eat, workout, and hold meetings, is in a sizable clearing. The sleeping tents are dispersed over the periphery, but mine is in the center so I can always be close by if anything goes wrong. We're all currently enjoying food and dancing around the campfire. A happy moment, as one of our fighters has finally found his soul match. Although she hasn't yet explained her motivation for running, I can tell it was not good. Everyone is having a good time. Children were following one other around while laughing, and teenagers were dancing all over one another while their parents watched in terror. They were the same when they were their age, so I couldn't help but laugh. As a renegade pack, I am aware that anything can happen and that an angry Alpha could be on my pack's tail at any time. The notion of anything bad happening to my pack made my heart tighten. We work hard to prepare; even the kids participate in some form of training. There won't be a defenseless member of my flock. I only hope I could provide them with a suitable home. I sensed someone sitting next to me, and I recognized Thrain's fragrance. "Alpha, what are you thinking about?" He poked at my arm.I sighed; he knew me too well for me to ever be able to hide anything from him. I set down the plate I had forgotten and faced him. "I was simply wishing I could provide everyone with a decent place to live. Somewhere people can go at night and not simply sleep in sleeping bags, but also on beds. I'm a lousy Alpha, I thought as my throat constricted. Thrain tightened his grip on my hand and glared angrily at me, saying, "Alyssa, you listen to me. You're a terrific Alpha; you maintain everyone's safety to the best of your ability by leading training, being yourself, and showing them that you care. These people adhere to you because you give them a sense of security and because you have earned their loyalty. You have provided them with a place to live where they may be safe among their friends, family, and loved ones. "I want to be able to a proper pack though, with a pack house and enough food to last us" When Thrain started to speak, another voice interrupted him. "I think I can help with that" Josh was grinning at me when I turned around."How?" I motioned for him to have a seat, and once he did, he started to explain. Do you recall when Thomas took over as Alpha and had to travel to see the royal family? I had to accompany him." We both nodded. "Well, as you know, all Alphas are required to register with their bloodline in order to keep track of everyone. You, my dear Alpha, come from a long history of Alphas, therefore not just anyone can take over as Alpha. My face must have revealed that I didn't understand what he was trying to say because his smile vanished and he raised his hands in the air. "Goddess, Alyssa, you have to go the Royals and register yourself as an Alpha, claim this land and they will give you a stipend to support the pack until you get on your feet" Oh, the epiphany came to me like a ton of bricks. I can now provide a suitable home for my pack. I grinned, kissed them both on the cheek, and ran as fast as I could to my tent, expressing my gratitude as I went. I snatched my bag and stuffed a gorgeous clothing inside it along with some other clothes. We must ensure that we have food and water with us because we will have to run the entire way there. I headed back outside while carrying my stuff and approached Josh and Thrain to see if they would like to accompany me. Josh was sitting by the fire with Lauren on his lap when I initially came upon him. They were whispering as their heads were close together. Despite being such opposites, they make a wonderful couple. Josh has lovely green eyes and curly blonde hair. He is tall and has a Beta-like build. Despite Lauren's extreme diminution, she more than makes up for it with her attitude. You don't want to enrage her because she has deep fiery red hair and emerald eyes. "Hey guys, can I talk to you?""Sure, what's up Ally?" With a little smile on her face, Lauren raised her head to face me."I'm going to travel to the Royals like Josh suggested, but I wanted to know if you would like to be Thrain's joint beta, Josh. Both of you deserve it.Lauren gave Josh a little head nod as he turned to face her. It's an honor that you asked, Alpha, but I'm afraid I'll have to decline. Now that Lauren is expecting, I want a job that is less demanding. They both grinned and said, "That's okay, you can take the Gamma position if you'd like." Lauren's eyebrow was raised. I finally understood what he had said when he added, "Now that Lauren is pregnant." Oh, "Are you people fucking kidding me? This is incredible. I rushed over and gave them both a big hug. I'm overjoyed for them because they deserve to be happy. They left their pack to come live with me, and now I'll make sure to give them and their future pups a decent place to live. They were the first individuals, outside Thrain, to express faith in my ability to complete this entire Alpha task. Lauren drew closer to Josh as I sat down across from them after letting them go. "I'm grateful, Alyssa. I'll be delighted to serve as your Gamma, leaving Thrain to deal with any ongoing stress. "Why will I be stressing out?" Because you will be Beta and I will be Gamma, Thrain came over and sat down next to me. "Why?""Because Lauren is pregnant and I want to spend more time with her" Thrain laughed loudly, making some people flinch. He then grabbed Lauren from Josh's arm and gave her a hug before grabbing Josh. I'm delighted for you. He put both of them down before grabbing my shoulder and pulling me close to him. Many people have remarked that we act like best friends, but they are unaware of the struggles that the two of us have faced. He is just like my brother, and I adore him in the same way. As I considered my biological brother, who I don't even know whether he survived the attack, a wave of hurt went through me. Before anyone could notice, I shook those ideas out of my head and grinned. "So, why will I be Beta?" Because you and I will be traveling to the Royals to register our pack as a group, Thrain gazed down at me and I grinned. Thrain let out a loud laugh before calling everyone to attention. He would be an excellent beta because he already knew what I needed to do. The music stopped, everyone gathered around us, the clearing was silent, and they all turned to face me. Occasionally, it was unsettling to notice the stares that they all gave me, as if they would give their lives to protect me. The trust and loyalty in their eyes told me I was making the correct choice; the kids deserved to live in a decent house. I only regret not doing it sooner. I informed everyone of what would occur and that Josh would be in charge of keeping things running smoothly while Thrain and I were gone. After a moment of utter silence, applause could be heard. Thrain, Josh, and my three best warriors had gathered in my tent after I left everyone to enjoy the music and dancing. We discussed every issue that would need to be handled while I was away. After a while, everyone retired to bed in preparation for our early-morning departure. As I slipped into bed, I had the idea, "I just hope everything goes okay and I don't get any surprises.
We had been traveling for three days and were almost there; nevertheless, we were all exhausted, hungry, and horribly odorous. We should get to the castle right about dusk. We were well protected on all sides since Thrain flanked me up front and our men were on each of our flanks. We took a brief break beside a small brook; it was lovely. While I was eating, the sound of birds chirping and the faint bubble of the stream's water nearly put me to sleep. I shook myself awake and completed my meal.
I reasoned that a little swim would wake me up sufficiently to proceed, and I also didn't want to appear to have been dragged through the forest when I arrived at the castle. I hurriedly undressed, leaving me only in my bra and underwear, and dove into the stream. My skin felt cool in the water, so I sank down and just let my thoughts wander to what we would be encountering in the palace. I've heard that Julius, the King, was a strict man who didn't like rogues, so I'm unsure of what will happen when he learns that I have a large group of rogues. Three really fit men were standing in the stream with water drips flowing down their bodies when I heard a splash and let my head surface. I am aware that we all have partners and will ultimately meet them, but I am also able to appreciate what is in front of me. Thrain was the black sheep in his family; you could tell he was of Greek descent because his black locks hung to his ears and his eyes were so captivatingly emerald. He had a strong, pointed jaw and always had a little stubble; he disliked shaving but thought a beard was ludicrous. He has gorgeous golden skin that looks like maple syrup, and I have always been envious of his complexion. In addition, he has excellent muscle definition and a good, lean build. Now that they are built like tanks, Tom and Eric exercise every day and spend their free time in the gym. They both have abs the size of a washboard and biceps bigger than my head. Tom looked like a blonde surfer; his shaggy hair ran down to his shoulders, and his nose was unmistakably damaged. He constantly wears a smile on his face and has blue eyes that are always up to no good. Eric has a buzz cut on his red hair because, in his words, it keeps it out of the way. He has freckles all over his pale complexion, and when I once asked him if I could play connect the dots with him, he practically tackled me. Lesson absorbed. Eric had lovely eyes, and I knew I could always rely on him to lend a hand if I needed one. I brushed my hair out of my face and grinned at the boys, "God, no need to show off," and said, "You know you could put all of us on our asses, Alpha." It was true; I had fought every warrior in our pack, and not one had ever placed me on my ass. We all laughed at Tom as he pouted. In reality, nobody has ever been able to get the better of me. I am looking forward to that day since it is healthy to be humbled occasionally. I responded, "Maybe you should train a little more so you could beat me," to Thrain's splash, "That will never happen, and you know it." This sparked an all-out war of splashes. Before getting out of the water, we fooled around in it for a while. We had to resume our journey. "Thrain, do you think that family will be alright?" I dressed and then turned around. When their Alpha forbade their daughter from visiting other packs to locate her mate, a family of wolves who had left their pack in the middle of the night They were in awful shape when we found them late last night; their clothes were hanging loosely, and the young child appeared incredibly ill and frail. They wouldn't likely last much longer on their own out here. I made a call to my border patrols and instructed them to keep an eye out for the family, to treat them respectfully, and to take care of them. They will be taken care of as best as they can, even if we don't currently have a pack doctor. They only need some wholesome food and a cozy place to sleep, and they will be OK. They have recently experienced a lot. We all turned into our wolves as I grinned. We took up position and retraced our steps toward the palace. ** We were starving, weary, and in desperate need of a shower when we arrived at the palace soon after sunset. We changed back into our human selves as the palace guards appeared. They welcomed us with the attitude that we were the shit on their feet. "What do you rogues want?" stated the tallest of the two. "We have an appointment to see the King in the morning." I nearly rolled my eyes. We weren't talking to you, bitch, the shorter guard snorted. I had to restrain a ferocious growl, and I knew the boys were doing the same. In this context, the word "bitch" was used to refer to a female wolf rather than as an insult. We were still living in the middle of the twentieth century. Since I knew I would slit their throats, I chose to let Thrain lead. Thrain's voice was strained, and I could tell that he was having difficulties controlling his wolf. "We have an appointment with the King in the morning, Bowers and company." The towering guard's eyes began to drift out before he nodded at us, allowing us to pass and informing us that a servant would be waiting for us outside to lead us to our rooms. I took several long breaths to keep myself from becoming enraged as we moved toward the palace. I had to explain to my wolves that they didn't realize I was an Alpha and that they didn't mean any offense, but it was difficult because I was also feeling angry on the inside on the human side. A few minutes later, the palace came into view, and it was magnificent. The enormous structure was at least several centuries old. The entrance's columns were encircled by vines, and the driveway was home to a stunning fountain with a wolf in the middle. A frail-looking old guy with his hands behind his back stood in front of the enormous oak entrance doors, which were reached by stairs. We didn't have time to appreciate the interior's splendor as he beckoned us through the door and led the way down a corridor, up some stairs, down another hallway, and finally to a stop in front of a door. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. promptly, and this is the women's restroom. I shall have someone get you in the morning for breakfast." He gave a slight bow and beckoned for the guys to follow him. The king will see you in the throne room when you finish. I bid the guys good night before entering the room. Though a little too opulent for my standards, the room is lovely, so I won't grumble now. In order to admire the view as you got up in the morning through the wide windows, the large bed was positioned in the middle of the room with the back of the bed facing the door. The doors to the bathroom and closet were located on the room's left side. A modest workstation and a lounge with a TV could be seen on the room's right side. My pajamas were nowhere to be found in my bag, so I dumped them on the bed and pulled out my good clothes for tomorrow in the hopes that they would somehow manage to uncrinkle in time. I headed over to the doors in my jammies, praying I made the correct choice. I almost cried out in satisfaction when I opened the door to the restroom as I was standing in front of it. Once the water in the shower was warm, I got in to let the steam soothe my aching muscles and unwind my mind. After washing myself and my hair, I changed into my pajamas before going outside. I went out outside to discover that someone had brought a tray of food and stolen my clothes. I took up the tray and sat on the couch to watch some television, relieved that my clothing would be wrinkle-free and nice-looking. I haven't watched television in a while. My stomach was grumbling as I chose a reality show and started eating. Since I hadn't slept on a real bed in a long time, I set the tray of dirty dishes on the desk and laid face down on the bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep.
