"yes I made it " I said I was in walked into the library.
It has been long I have visited the library. The library has always been my sanctuary. A place where I escape the reality of life.A place where the world's chaos faded into the background, leaving only the comforting scent of old books and the promise of new adventures. Library is my temporary home because that's the only place I feel alive.
Rows of dusty volumes of books lined the shelves, each one a treasure waiting to be discovered. As much as I love books , I have always had one secret that I have kept to my self. Yes I can talk to books and make every word in it feel alive. I have discovered this at a tender age when I get abused I always go to library to cry out my grief. Till a day I heard a voice from someone I never knew where the voices were coming from till I heard a voice that said "pick me" when I picked the books , I discovered that every pages in book felt alive.
Walking down the aisles, my fingers lightly traced the spines of the books as I passed. "Hello, old friends," I whispered with a smile, feeling a sense of familiarity and warmth. It was as if the books were alive, each one holding stories and secrets just waiting to be shared.
At the end of the aisle, a particular book caught my eye. Its cover was worn and faded, but there was something about it that drew me in. I picked it up, flipping through the pages and feeling a connection with the words and stories within.
"Ah, you have a story to tell, don't you?" I said softly, holding the book close to my chest. "I can't wait to hear it."
Finding a cozy corner, I settled down with the book, opening it to the first page. As I read, the words seemed to come alive, as if the book itself was speaking directly to me.
"Why are you this worn out and torn" I said as I observed the pages of each book but the book seems to ignore my question.
"Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom..." the book began, immersing me in a tale of adventure, love, and magic. The characters were vivid, their emotions palpable, and I found myself completely engrossed in their world.
One more secret I have when ever I'm reading story book is I find myself in the world of the book feeling every character and all it seem is like I'm sitted in the story while i watch a live cinema in front of me.
Hours seemed to fly by as I lost myself in the story, the outside world fading away until there was only me and the book. Every twist and turn, every moment of joy and sorrow, resonated with me on a deep level.
"Wow, that's quite a twist!" I exclaimed at one point, turning the page eagerly. "I never saw that coming!"
The book seemed to respond, the words resonating with a warmth and understanding that made me smile.
"I know, right?" I replied, feeling a sense of camaraderie with the book. "Life is full of surprises."
As I continued to read, I found myself talking back to the book more and more, asking questions, sharing my thoughts and feelings, and feeling as though the book was answering me in its own special way. The only thing I know is I'm the only that can hear the voice of the book but I don't know if I'm the only one who can talk to books.
Eventually, I reached the end of the book, and a sense of satisfaction washed over me. "Thank you for sharing your story with me," I said, closing the book gently. "It was a pleasure to read."
"Take me home and repair my pages" I heard the book said that to me
"No... No, I can't do that but I promise I will help you bring new covers and everything needed to get you repaired when next I come"I promised and I realized that a light that was coming out of the got off. Anytime a book does this to me, it only means two things, the book is angry with me or a page has been ripped off but now it only means one thing . The book is definitely angry with me .
"Hey... I can't take you out of this place , it's a library I cant take you out"i pleaded and the light came up , i guess the book has forgiven me .
I looked around and realized that the library was nearly empty, the sun beginning to set outside. I reluctantly stood up, feeling a sense of contentment and fulfillment then I returned the book back to where I took it from and I walked towards the door.
"Bye little friend"
As I walked out of the library, the setting sun cast a warm golden glow over the world. I felt grateful for the time I'd spent with my books, and I looked forward to the many stories and adventures that awaits me and i walked back home.
*****
The next day, I returned to the library, eager to discover new books and new worlds.
"Good morning Ms . Rose" I said I greeted the lady who was in charge of the library
" Good morning Elysia.... Good to see you again" she smiled
" New books? " I asked as I search my her eyes for answers
"Yes... Elysia , we have new arrivals" she said as she brought out new books and a book caught my eye. Its cover was vibrant and eye-catching, and I felt drawn to it immediately. I picked it up, flipping through the pages and feeling a connection with the words and stories within.
"Thank you... Ms. Rose, I will read this "
"You are welcome , Elysia"she said as got immersed into her job again and I went away to fine my sit
"Hello there," I said with a smile, holding the book close to my chest. "What secrets do you hold?"
"I hold the secret I'm will unleash when you read me " the book replied me
"okay let's do this". Finding a cozy corner, I settled down with the book, opening it to the first page .the book turned on its light as i touch every word in the book.As I read, the words once again seemed to come alive, drawing me into a new world filled with mystery, intrigue, and adventure.
As I lost myself in the story, I once again found myself talking back to the book, asking questions, sharing my thoughts and feelings, and feeling as though the book was answering me in its own special way. Sometimes the book don't respond but they talk to me in their special way by turning on light on important words in the book.
Hours flew by as I immersed myself in the story, the outside world fading away until there was only me and the book. Every twist and turn, every moment of joy and sorrow, resonated with me on a deep level. And we got to a place where a song was sung in the book, as the book sang out the song to me , i stood up to dance like a fairy
"Elysia" I heard a voice called me and turned back and I saw Ms. Rose
I immediately composed my self and I laughed "Ms. Rose"
"I can see you're enjoying every chapter of the book" she said I she smiled
"Yes... Yes , thank you for the recommendation"I smiled back and she left and I continued reading the book.
"Ohhhh... That was a close caught" i said as I held my catch like I was catching my breath
Eventually, I reached the end of the book, and a sense of satisfaction washed over me.
"Thank you for sharing your story with me," I said, closing the book gently. "It was a pleasure to read , I enjoyed every word of the book"
"Why don't you become a writer" I heard the book say to me
" Erm.... Story for another day" I stood up and dropped the book .
"Bye... Elysia, hope to see soon" Ms. Rose said and I smiled as I left .
As I walked out of the library, the setting sun once again casting a warm golden glow over the world, I felt grateful for the time I'd spent with my books. I knew that my love for books would always be a part of who I am, a source of comfort and inspiration that I could turn to whenever I needed it. This is time I have wished my parents were alive. they had died when king Lithia destroyed the demons but I had managed to escape and move to the human world.
"I miss them so much" I said as tears rolled my eyes and I remembered everything we shared.
I woke up to sunshine pouring through my window and birds chirping like they were having the best party ever. Seriously, those birds know how to have fun! . I'm always waking up to the sounds of bird singing every morning.
"It's like I'm smelling a familiar Scent..uncle Adrian at it again"i smiled
The smell of pancakes wafted up the stairs, making my stomach do a little happy dance.pancakes is my favorite food ever since I started living in the human world. I immediately got off my bed, brushed my teeth and rushed towards the kitchen
"Morning, Uncle Adrian!" I exclaimed, rushing into the kitchen. There he was, flipping pancakes like a pro. I swear, he could be a chef or something. My uncle makes the best dishes . He has always had my back ever since I lost my parents. He was the one that made the idea that we run away and move the human world but I'm sure he doesn't knows about my secret of me talking to books and I have never for once told anyone even my parents didn't know . All they knew is that I have great obsessions for books and going to the library.
"Hey, Elysia! Got your favorite pancakes coming right up!" Uncle Adrian grinned, looking super happy. Man, I love this guy. I love my uncle so much , ever since my parents departed this world, he has never made me feel a difference like having them in here.
I plopped down at the kitchen table, taking a moment to admire Uncle Adrian's awesomeness. He's tall, has a cool beard, and a smile that could light up a room. "Thanks, Uncle Adrian. You're the best!"
He chuckled, flipping another pancake onto the stack. "You're family, kiddo. Family sticks together."
" I know right" I said and he smirk
We dug into our pancakes, chatting about everything from the crazy weather to my latest book obsession. It was like catching up with an old friend, but way cooler because he's family.
"So, how's it been, living here with your old uncle?" Uncle Adrian asked, pouring syrup over his pancakes.
"It's been epic!" I replied, devouring another bite of pancake. "Having a home again, and hanging out with you, makes it awesome!"i said as i stretch my arm to the air
Uncle Adrian gave me a warm smile. "I'm glad you're enjoying it, Elysia. You're always welcome here, you know."
" I know" I said and he laughed
" You don't stop to amaze me little Elysia... Your confidence is top notch" he said and I rolled my eyes playfully
"I learned from the best " I said and we both laughed again
After breakfast, Uncle Adrian and I headed out to the garden. He's got this magical touch with plants; they practically bow down to him.
"Uncle Adrian, do you ever miss Aunt Lilura?" I asked, trying to distract myself by watering the flowers.
His face softened, and he looked kinda sad for a moment. "Yeah, I miss her every day, Elysia. But I know she's always with me, in my heart and memories."he said as he placed his hand on his chest .
I reached over and gave his hand a squeeze. "I'm sorry, Uncle Adrian. I can't imagine how tough it must be."
" Tough you say" he said as he looked at me
" Yeah... But you are the strongest man I know"
He smiled, looking grateful. "Thanks, kiddo. Having you here makes it a little less lonely. You remind me a lot of Lilura – strong, independent, and full of life."
" awwww.... You look so cute talking about her"he said and we both laughed
" You always have a way of making the best out of sad situations"he said as he called me out for a hug and I couldn't resist but hug him back. He is the strongest individual I know, he has never for once maltreated me, he treats me like his dearest own.
"So, Elysia, do you miss your parents?" he asked, looking all serious.
I hesitated for a moment, then decided to open up a little. "Yeah, I do," I admitted, trying to keep it light. "But hey, let's talk about something else! Have you heard about that new game everyone's playing?"
Uncle Adrian caught on and played along. "Oh, the one with the crazy puzzles? Yeah, I've heard it's pretty addictive!"
", extremely addictive... I saw some group of people playing the game some times back , the game is everything " I speak to my uncle like I'm speaking to my peers and he doesn't mind and he has never for once demanded a respect from me probably because he has already earned it. He only scolds me and I understand that it's all for the best and it's all for making me a better person .
"Hey, Elysia," "Life's a crazy ride with its ups and downs, twists and turns. But no matter what happens, I've got your back, cheering you on every step .
"Uncle Adrian," I said, trying to sound casual, "Can you tell me a story? Maybe about Aunt Lilura?"
He paused, his face clouding over with a mixture of sadness and hesitation. For a moment, I regretted asking, thinking maybe it was too soon to bring up painful memories. But then he sighed and looked at me with a watery smile.
"Alright, Elysia," he began, his voice soft and trembling, "I'll tell you about the day Lilura was killed in the demon territory."
I scooted closer to him, sensing the importance of this story. I held my breath, waiting for him to continue.
"We were exploring the demon territory, searching for rare plants," Uncle Adrian started, his eyes distant as if he was reliving the memories. "Lilura was always passionate about botany, just like me. We were so engrossed in our search that we didn't notice we had wandered into a dangerous area."
He took a deep breath before continuing, "Suddenly, a group of demons ambushed us. They were after a sacred plant we had accidentally stumbled upon. Lilura tried to reason with them, but they were ruthless. In the struggle that ensued, she... she didn't make it."
Tears streamed down Uncle Adrian's face, and I felt a lump in my throat. I reached out and hugged him tightly, letting him know that I was there for him.
"I'm so sorry, Uncle Adrian," I whispered, my own eyes brimming with tears. "I can't even imagine how hard that must have been for you."
He hugged me back, his body shaking with sobs. We stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, sharing our grief and comforting each other.
After a while, Uncle Adrian pulled away, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand. "Thank you, Elysia," he said, his voice still shaky but grateful. "I needed to share that with someone."
I smiled at him, trying to lighten the mood. "Well, you're stuck with me, Uncle Adrian! And don't worry, I'll make sure to stay away from any dangerous territories!"
Uncle Adrian chuckled, the tension in the room lifting slightly. "You better, kiddo! I don't think I could handle losing another loved one."
The rest of the day was a mix of emotions. We laughed, we cried, and we even managed to have some fun. Uncle Adrian taught me how to make his famous spaghetti sauce, and I showed off my not-so-great dancing skills. Let's just say, we both needed the distraction.
As evening approached, Uncle Adrian looked at me with a grateful smile. "Thank you, Elysia," he said, his voice stronger now. "Today was hard, but it also brought us closer together."
I grinned back at him, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. "Anytime, Uncle Adrian. Remember, we're a team! And teams stick together, no matter what."
He laughed at my enthusiasm, shaking his head in amusement. "You're absolutely right, Elysia. We're a team, and I wouldn't have it any other way."
"Look, Uncle Adrian! I'm a fairy!" I giggled, doing my best fairy impression complete with sparkly sound effects.
Uncle Adrian burst into laughter, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Oh, Elysia, you never cease to brighten my day! You truly are a magical fairy."
I curtsied dramatically, beaming with pride. "Why, thank you, kind sir! It's all in a day's work for Fairy Elysia."
We laughed together, the weight of our previous conversation now lifted. It felt good to see Uncle Adrian smile again, and I knew that my fairy antics had done the trick. As we continued to laugh and chat, Uncle Adrian suddenly grew serious again. He looked at me with a thoughtful expression, as if contemplating something important.
"Elysia," he began, "I think it's time we start preparing for your future. I've found a school nearby that I think would be perfect for you."
My eyes widened in excitement. A new school? This was big news! I felt a rush of anticipation and gratitude towards Uncle Adrian.
"Really, Uncle Adrian? That's amazing!" I exclaimed, unable to contain my excitement. "I can't thank you enough for thinking of me." I said close to tears " I owe you a lot uncle "
He smiled warmly at me, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "You don't owe me anything, Elysia. All you owe yourself is the opportunity to be a better person, to learn and grow. That's what life's all about."
We both chuckled at his wise words, and I felt a surge of affection for my uncle. He had been through so much, yet here he was, thinking of my future and encouraging me to be the best version of myself. For the rest of the day, we talked excitedly about the new school. Uncle Adrian shared all the details he had learned, and I listened eagerly, hanging on to every word. It sounded like an amazing place, filled with opportunities to learn and make new friends.
As evening approached, Uncle Adrian looked at me with a proud smile. "I'm glad you're excited, Elysia. This is a new chapter in your life, and I know you're going to do great things."
I hugged him tightly, feeling a mixture of excitement and gratitude. "Thank you, Uncle Adrian. I promise I'll make the most of this opportunity. You mean the world to me, and I want to make you proud."
He hugged me back, his eyes misty with emotion. "You already have, Elysia. You already have."
As I lay in bed that night, my mind was buzzing with excitement for the future. A new school, new friends, and a fresh start; it was all happening so fast, and I couldn't wait to see what the future held.
But amidst all the excitement, one thing was clear: Uncle Adrian was my rock, my guiding light. His love and support meant everything to me, and I knew that no matter where life took me, he would always be there, cheering me on every step of the way.
"ohhhh first day please be good"
I woke up to a sound of an alarm, I stretched out my hand to stop the alarm with my heart pounding with excitement. Today was the day! The first day! I practically leaped out of my bed, eager to start my first day at a new school. I stood up as I danced my way into the bathroom . I put on my uniform, they were damn looking good on me .A new school in a new town – it was all so thrilling!
"So cute... I'm definitely going to ace up first day at school" I said I as I admired myself in the mirror
"Pretty little demon Elysia is going to be the talk of town" I added as I smiled and made my way downstairs, Uncle Adrian was already in the kitchen, sipping his morning coffee. He looked up and smiled as I entered.
"Good morning, Elysia," he greeted warmly. "Excited for your first day?"
I nodded enthusiastically, unable to hide my excitement. "Definitely, Uncle Adrian! I can't wait to see what this new school is like."
" Is it like the demon world .. where we were mainly thought magic and the tradition of the demon" I asked
" No... There's more to it" he said as he sip his coffee
" There's more? " I asked desperately looking for answers from him
He set down his coffee cup and looked at me seriously. "Elysia, remember what we talked about. You're a demon in a human world. You must do anything to avoid getting angry. We don't want anyone suspecting that you're not fully human."
I gulped, remembering his words from our previous conversation. "I remember, Uncle Adrian. I'll be careful."
He smiled, his eyes filled with pride. "That's my girl. Now, finish your breakfast. I'll drop you off at school."
" Thank you uncle" I smiled
" This isn't going to be a everyday routine once you get familiar with the surroundings you will start going to school alone" he said and I rolled my eyes playfully
" At least .... Let me make friends " I said and we both laughed
As we drove to the school, I couldn't help but marvel at the sights around me. The town was bustling with activity, and I could see why Uncle Adrian had chosen to live here. It was beautiful, with tree-lined streets and friendly faces everywhere. The human must be always happy, I have never met a sad human, they are always smiling.
"Don't humans have troubles" I asked as I search my uncle's eyes for answers
"Every single soul has troubles but it depends on you treat yourself and how to move on with it" he said and I looked at him evident of confusion on my face "well I mean ... Just like me nobody knows I have lost my wife because it's not written on my head but I still manage to smile " he said and I could see a hint of sadness on his face but he quickly masked it with a smile
"So are you saying, everyone has a problem "
"Yes... Every single soul" he replied as he continued driving
Finally, we arrived at the school, and I was speechless. It was magnificent – a grand building with towering spires and ivy-covered walls. It looked like something straight out of a fairy tale. The school was like something out of a futuristic movie, all sleek and shiny with big windows that sparkled in the sun. It stood out with its cool design and maybe some neat gardens or hangout spots around it. You could tell it was a special place just by looking at it, not just another boring school. Even from far away, it was super impressive and made me curious about what it was like inside.
"This is it, Elysia," Uncle Adrian said, pulling into the parking lot. "This school is one of the best in town. Only the most privileged students get to attend here."
I looked around, noticing the students milling about. They all looked so confident and sophisticated, and I felt a twinge of nervousness. Could I fit in here?. I have heard so much about this school. At Elite International High School for Kings and Queens, it feels like I'm in a real-life Castle! The school looks like a grand palace, and everyone wears these fancy designer uniforms that make us feel like royalty. The rich kids here have all the latest gadgets and coolest stuff. But hey, I'm one of the average kids, and it's pretty awesome too! Some of them got in on scholarships or just being super lucky. I wish we get along great, and it's cool how I'm already seeing different vibes in the school. I'm working hard and I guess I would be loving every minute of it!
Uncle Adrian must have sensed my anxiety because he squeezed my hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, Elysia. You'll do great. Just be yourself."
" Bye uncle" I said Taking a deep breath and stepped out of the car and headed towards my classroom. As soon as I entered, I felt all eyes on me. Whispers and side conversations erupted around the room, and I could hear snippets of comments.
"Who's that new girl?"
"She's stunning!"
" I know right... She looks like a goddess "
I blushed, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and excitement. I had never been the center of attention like this before.
I glanced at the reflection in the classroom window, trying to see myself through their eyes. My long, wavy hair cascaded down my back like a waterfall of ebony silk. My eyes were a unique shade of violet, shimmering with a mysterious allure. My skin was flawless, with a subtle glow that seemed to captivate everyone around me.
But it wasn't just my physical appearance that caught their attention. It was something more, something undefinable – a certain grace, a confidence that seemed to radiate from within.
The teacher walked in, and the room fell silent. I took my seat, still feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the attention
"Can I have your attention everyone" Ms. Penelope Jenner said and stare were fixed on her.
Just when I thought I was getting the hang of things, the unexpected happened. During English class, the teacher, Ms. Jenner suddenly called my name.
"Hey Queen Elysia, would you mind coming up to the front and introducing yourself to the class?" she asked, her eyes twinkling behind her glasses.
My heart skipped a beat as I stood up, feeling a rush of nerves. "Um, sure," I stammered, trying to sound confident.
Walking to the front of the class, I took a deep breath and began, "Hi everyone, I'm Grimstone Elysia. I just moved here with my Uncle Adrian. I love reading fantasy novels and exploring new places. I'm really excited to be here!"
" so kings and queens... What do we say to her" she screamed
" We welcome elysia to elite international school for kings and queens"they echoed
As I returned to my seat, I could feel the curious eyes of my classmates on me. Some smiled, while others whispered amongst themselves. I hoped I had made a good impression.
After my mini introduction, Mrs. Thompson continued with her lesson. She taught us about Shakespeare and his famous plays. I tried my best to pay attention, but my mind kept wandering back to the new friends I need to make
Finally, the bell rang, signaling the end of the class. As the students gathered their belongings and left the room, Ms. Jenner approached me.
"Elysia, could you stay behind for a moment? I'd like to give you a quick orientation of the school and show you around," she said kindly.
"Of course, ma'am," I replied, feeling grateful for her guidance.
Once the classroom was empty, Mrs. Thompson began explaining the layout of the school, pointing out the library, cafeteria, and gym. I listened attentively, eager to learn my way around.
"As a new student, you'll also be assigned a mentor to help you adjust to our school," she added, smiling reassuringly.
" So... See you around tomorrow " she said to me as she turned to leave and I smiled as I gathered my books and stood up to leave. But before I could take a step, I collided with a figure in the doorway, sending my books scattering across the floor.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, looking up to see who I had bumped into.
"No I am sorry" he said as I looked up to see the figure my jaw dropped. It looked like I have seen an angel in person .Standing before me was a tall boy with raven-black hair and piercing blue eyes. He had a smirk on his face as he bent down to help me pick up my books.
"No harm done," he replied, his voice smooth and confident. "I'm Damien, by the way. And you must be the new girl everyone's talking about."
I blushed, feeling a mix of embarrassment and curiosity. "I'm Elysia. Nice to meet you, Damien."
He handed me my last book and gave me a playful wink. "Well, Elysia, I guess this means we're officially acquainted. See you around!" I couldn't help myself but smile , his charming eyes, his cute voice, his eyes were everything. He has a perfect figure that compliments his body .
"Bye" I said after he has gone farway from me "
" Ohhhh.... He's gone"I said smiling foolishly
