In a dark silent room, an irritated groan could be heard before light lit up from a lamp by the side, "what is it now system?" a man lying on a large bed beside the lamp asked.
"You have a call Kurtz." A robotic voice spoke in his head.
"Who the heck calls by this time of the day." a man's groaned as he squirmed on his large bed, this was Kurtz.
Suddenly a large screen lit up in his vision.

After looking through the system's interface, an act which had somehow became a habit since he got the system, Kurtz looked at the upper corner of the system's screen where a red light could be seen blinking. After staring at it for a while, he muttered, "I will just call him back." Then he closed his eyes sleeping on with a lazy moan.
The screen however, did not disappear from his vision and it changed. Now, a man's back could be seen through it. The man sat on a spiraling chair which swerved right and left but never faced the screen.
"It is me Kurtz your Boss." The man on the screen spoke.
Kurtz stiffened on his bed, before his closed eyes slowly opened and he looked glared into the air, "I didn't remember telling you to put the caller through, system." he said darkly.
"Yes you didn't Kurtz, but you had instructed me to always put this caller on an automatic access link." The system replied.
"Uh, did I? That might have to change soon." Kurtz said, through a groan as he closed his eyes back.
"Do I have your attention now." The man on the screen asked.
"Spit it already, do you need to come clean up your ass again?" Kurtz replied, rolling to another side on his large bed.
"Almost right actually but this is not something to be discussed on screen, I need to see you at the base." the man said and Kurtz eyes slowly opened again, even though he could actually see the system's screen even with his eyes closed, it just felt more natural to glare at it with opened eyes.
"You need to see me?" He repeated, with a brow raised in surprise.
"Ryan died." The man stated and Kurtz face immediately scrunched, "what time should I come Boss." He eventually asked.
"Get here if you can, right at this instant." The man answered and Kurtz sighed.
"Ok then." He said raising an arm up, and the screen turned blank.
In the dim room, Kurtz climbed off the bed walking towards a curtain and pulling it to the side to reveal a glassy wall through which light reflected off his face, revealing his pair of iris which were black as coal. Through the calm eyes, he stared off into the distance.
A mountain range stretched on in his sight, their white snowy peaks slowly melting into little stream and looking into the sky, Kurtz gaze scrunched.
His line of sight was above all the mountain peaks simply because his own house was situated in the very highest peak on this mountain range and he always enjoyed this sight. However, the bright sun in the sky successfully managed to sour his mood, "why does it have to be a sunny day?" he muttered, pulling back the curtain before walking back towards a door.
Moments later, a sleek silver sports car zoomed on across a sandy plain quickly approaching a large wall in the distance.
Reaching the wall, however, the car did not stop and it crash into the wall, or... it was supposed to. In fact the car had not crashed into the wall but instead pass through the wall which shimmered.
The wall was actually not a wall but a perfect holographic façade.
Just behind the holographic wall, the car stopped.
On the ground below the car, a blue circle lit up before sinking into the ground with the car on it.
Soon, the car emerged in a bright underground garage as the platform underneath it melded into the ground while the gap above close as well.
Kurtz exited the car and in a blurry motion, he had reached a door in an instant. He placed his thumb on the door and after a few seconds, the door slid opened. Kurtz walked right towards a stair case which led downward and in a few large strides, he was standing in front of another door below the stairs which slid open after a few seconds as well.
"You are quite fast." The familiar voice of his Boss spoke, as Kurtz calmly took a sit before looking around and his gaze eventually settled on a figure sitting at an end of the large room, this figure's back turned towards him.
"This is like the hundredth time I would hear that from you, Boss, but I appreciate no less. And about Ryan, I offer my condolences." Kurtz spoke.
"You should probably say that to his family." the Boss commented.
"Family, I would be surprised if any of us here have one." Kurtz said, with a grin.
"Well, most of us have a family. We just keep so much from them that we end up creating that inevitable gap, but it is the only way to keep everyone safe." the Boss replied with a sigh.
Kurtz felt strange on hearing that, after all, his own family would probably think he was a pathetic bully if they knew what he was doing, not that they cared anyway.
"I would rather not say my condolences to his family." Kurtz said chuckling.
"That sounds so inhumane." The Boss spoke.
"Inhumane, I guess it sounds right then." Kurtz said with a shrug, "And let's quit the idle talks already, what or who is the problem?" He asked.
"Right we should get to business." the Boss replied and a screen lit up in front of him.
On the screen, the image of a person with obscured features could be seen. The person had a hooded sweatshirt on her body. The hood completely covered her head and on the hood, she had also wore a bucket hat which shadowed her eyes, on her legs were large cargo pants and finally a pair of boots. Oddly, even single piece of clothing on her body was black.
"Now that looks like someone who mean business, is she some runaway government agent or a notorious criminal?" Kurtz asked studying the figure. No matter how the person had tried to conceal her features, her chest gave away the fact that she was female.
"Neither of the case, actually." the Boss spoke, before another image popped up and this was of a cute looking young girl with two grey eyes and long silver hair which were braided into two.
"This person seems to be a quite brilliant hacker. Her information had been wiped off from every single source and this picture was only gotten after I managed to get past her own wall. She detected the next instant so we could only get a picture but it is enough, with it, we constructed what she might look like right now and here is what we got." The man, said as the image of the girl morphed quickly and soon, Kurtz could see what might have looked like a young adult version of the small girl.
"How old is that supposed to be?" Kurtz asked looking at the image with an amused face.
"Well, she is twenty years now and according to what we managed to gather, she was born..." the Boss was however, interrupted by Kurtz who spoke.
"You know I don't need stories boss, just tell me what needs to be done and her location, all will be taken care of." Kurtz said.
"Well, she is to be abducted and delivered to the government but hey, she isn't just any other target. The government have tried their best to get her but only took damages without result, which is why they had to seek us, the Seer Mercenaries out. Our mercenary has maintain quite a perfect record for years now so it made sense that even the government would trust us but I was quite skeptical. Still, I took the mission seriously from the start and sent the top five after her. I was however shocked to learn that Ryan had been killed by the target while the rest barely escaped with various degrees of injuries and then, I understood why the government were so bent on getting her, she is probably a breaker." the man stated grimly.
While the Boss was still speaking, a screen had appeared in front of Kurtz.
~A Quest has been detected~
[The Last Mercenary: You have charged by your Boss to abduct a powerful Target, Abduct the target successfully.]
[The Breaker's Mission: Breakers are supernatural creatures that have escape the supernatural world, find the Breaker's mission in the human world.]
Kurtz however, closed the system's screen as she looked at the Boss with raised brow, "breaker", he muttered and a smile gradually emerged on his face. "Finally something exciting." he said, walking on.
"You should check on the rest before leaving." the man suddenly said, and Kurtz paused in place before nodding with a sigh, "I should." He eventually said in agreement and then moved towards another room.
Soon, he was in a room where a group of four laying on their beds, while being attended to by a young woman in nurse uniform.
They chatted between each other laughing heartily as well, but there was one more person, a young man who Kurtz did not quite recognize and he was sitting to the side with dark expression.
"I see you guys are recovering nicely." Kurtz spoke and everyone turned to look at him with startled expressions.
"Oh, it is you punk, now I can be rest assured that that disastrous creature will get her payback." a man said, grinning as he slapped towards Kurtz who caught his arm in a firm grip.
"She really did a number on you." He observed looking at the man's other hand which was strapped to a machine by the side.
"Well, they all got one or two scratches." The Nurse said and Kurtz looked at before chuckling. "You are right Linda, It is really just scratches. These resilient bastards will get up kicking in few days." He said looking the group all round, they had varying degree of injury but his gaze could not help pause at a particular woman.
"What the hell happened to you, Sara." he asked with wide eyes, looking at the woman, whose head had been placed in some transparent helmet. In response to him, the woman simply raised a hand to signify no problem.
"Sara got a shot that damage her skull quite a bit, it would be good if she doesn't speak for now." the young nurse, Linda said and Kurtz nodded in understanding.
"Okay, I wish you all quick recovery, the target is already on move." Kurtz said tapping his ear and the rest nodded in understanding.
"Good luck." The young Nurse shouted as Kurtz exited the place.
"I actually doubt he would need it actually, that guys is a monster." another spoke.
"Quit already Bryan, I know Kurtz has a flawless record and all but you always make it seems like he is some divine being or something. He can still make mistake, everyone can." another man commented.
"Well who makes the rule?" Bryan replied with a chuckle.
"You know, I would actually like to know what the deal about that guy is, he saw me sitting here and couldn't even say hi, I guess he is some genius or something but there are many geniuses in the world, that's just so rude." The young man who had been sitting away from the group eventually spoke up.
The four lying on their bed stared at each other for a moment before Bryan looked back at the young man, "I understand what you are doing kid but don't, don't try to prove anything against that guy, it won't end well." He advised before closing his eyes.
"Prove something, I have never tried to prove anything to anyone. It is always them trying to prove to me that they aren't lowlifes." the young man declared, before standing and walking towards the door from which Kurtz had exited. "Uh, where is he?" He muttered looking down a long flight of stairs but Kurtz was nowhere to be found.
"Did he use the elevator?" He thought but even the elevator didn't seems to be in any use. "There is probably a shortcut I don't know about here, there is no way someone could have moved so quickly, right?"
A figure in black hoodie could be seen exiting a mall. She had a tall figure with her chin held high. Her eyes were obscured by the bucket hat on her head and on her hands, a pair of gloves could be seen. She also wore a cargo pant with a pair of snickers and everyone around could not help throw her strange gazes, especially at the fact that every single clothing item on her body were pure black, not a single hint of any other colour.
The girl reached a black compact truck beside which she paused before looking all around, her gaze lingered slightly on a gorgeous silver car parked at a distance, but she soon looked away before opening the pickup. Soon it revved to life and sped off.
In the silver car, Kurtz sat studying his target.
"Did she notice me?" He muttered, looking on at the departing pickup with thinned gaze.
"She is leaving boy." the Boss voice suddenly spoke in his ears and Kurtz eyes widen. "Did I just phased off?" He thought in wonder, before blasting off after the pickup. Kurtz however could not get an image out of his head. The image of two silver eyes staring directly towards his through the strange lady's hat.
"No, this isn't happening." He thought chuckling warily, he had seen so many girls in his life that he did not believe there was any other out there that could get him fantasizing any more. Of course this girl seems unique and all but Kurtz was not planning to start swooning over a girl any time soon, and certainly not when this person just happens to be his target.
Swiftly, his car followed behind the pickup.
Minutes passed before Kurtz saw the pickup took a sudden sharp turn and a grin climbed unto his face, "you eventually noticed." He muttered excitedly before taking the same turn as well. The pickup immediately picked up speed but there was a reason Kurtz was using a sport car, just as he predicted, the pickup took another unlikely turn and he followed swiftly but the pickup followed up with another turn and when Kurtz took this one, he could see the pickup slowly coming to a stop.
"Did she made a mistake?" He thought, looking ahead of the truck where a dead end could be seen, but again, he did not think this was a mistake since his target was a terrifying fighter herself. She had probably branched into this deserted alley to finish him off quietly, "that is way better than playing around behind wheels." Kurtz muttered as he stepped out of his car.
"Hey." He called after standing for a moment beside his car, but the girl had refused to come down the pickup. "Well, it makes no difference." He muttered before walking towards the car.
On reaching the car side, Kurtz could see the windows were rolled down, but there was no one in the car.
"What is this?" He muttered, greatly confounded as he stared into the empty interior of the car with bewildered face.
Suddenly, he could feel cold steels pressing tightly against his skull and Kurtz stiffened as a clicking sound of the trigger being pulled reached his ear, "I am right here" a female voice said and then...
Bang! The bullet was let off.
"Huff..." Kurtz sighed, grabbing the shooter's wrist, as he looked at the gun barrel from which a wisp of smoke was rising. By the side of his cheek, a burnt line could be seen which swiftly closed up and soon disappeared. Kurtz had just been few millimeters away from having his head blasted away.
"H... how?" The girl stuttered looking at him with incredulous face.
Her gun had been resting right against this man's head and she hadn't even hesitate for a moment before pulling the trigger. There was no way a person should have survived such close shot, but here he was, the one she had shot looking at her while her wrist was held firmly in his hand.
She couldn't even understand what exactly had happened, it was all a blur and now she could feel the steel like grip of the man around her wrist, in fact, she even felt the strength within her bones being sapped away just with his grab and even more terrifying was that fact that the bullet seems to have grazed his cheek but now the wound had disappeared like all she had seen was an illusion.
"How" Kurtz repeated after some moment before adding, "what about you answer my question first, how did you managed get behind me without me noticing?" Kurtz asked with a fascinated smile.
"Kill me already! That is what you came for right? I am still satisfied that I managed to kill a good number of your bastards before you got me, now kill me!" The lady spat in undisguised disdain and wrath.
"Kill you, okay let's get this straight, while I indeed came aggressively after you, I am actually not here to kill you, I have simply been tasked to bring you by my boss." Kurtz said, still keeping his smile as he stared into the girl's eyes, at this close range, he was now able to discern clearly her facial features and Kurtz simply felt himself being drawn in into those silver eyes, he had in fact always loved silver but these were simply too breathe-taking.
"Bring me back, so that's what you want, to use me as some lab rat just because I have some powers right? Well you will still have an easier time killing me right here than taking me anywhere." The girl asserted while her other hand slowly crept out from behind her, in there she was holding another gun.
"Don't." Kurtz said applying more pressure on the lady's hand.
The lady winced as she felt her bone almost being crushed, her grip turned weak and the gun in her hand dropped to the ground.
"You see, now that I think about it, I should have actually asked to know more about the target before coming after you. I didn't know I would be attacking such innocent lady." Kurtz said, before unfolding his hand around the girl's wrist and she staggered back looking at her wrist which was now red and sore all over and slowly she raised her head looking at Kurtz with confused expression.
