Chapter 1 The Beginning

Reminder: The first part of this novel is about the first village of Shikari Gakure. I didn't include the important part of this because I'm focusing on the Darks and Actions of the novel. So, I only included some of the things about Shikari Gakure's childhood that happens to him. This Swordsman's Era is all about stopping and destroying who destroyed them first. I straight-up changed the sequence of chapter 2 it's gonna be fighting against the Darks and traveling far. This novel chapter 1 is just about Shikari Gakure's childhood but I didn't include all of it.

I included only one of them, I'm gonna put the whole story of Shikari Gakure in another novel because it's gonna be long and tragedy.

Date: Æ1264 4, 3

Coldness and warmth combined. It was morning and the sun was so shiny. The sound of the birds chirping blended harmoniously with the melody of the dancing leaves in the trees near the east.

Shikari Gakure is wandering around inside their house. They'll be leaving in a couple of hours to travel to another village in the north.

He is four years old and lives in Basilaska village with his parents. He is very young when they are in the Basilaska village woodlands. The Basilaska town is surrounded by large red trees that cover a brick path, and there are many people and two-story houses.

Shikari would miss this place. He was packing up his clothes in a small bag. After packing his clothes he stands in front of his old bed with the good smell of the environment and leaves outside their house in the trees. He's not gonna forget about these things. He was enjoying his final look at the magnificence of the Red Big Trees and his final day in his beloved bed. He closed his eyes and smelled the aroma of the surroundings. It was really quiet. The village was serene.

His father is at the castle's main office. He's waiting for him to call his name for the horses to give and the bodyguards. He's finally called. He walked inside the main office and saw that the head chief was writing something on the documents on his table. He was a bit old-looking because of the small wrinkles on his face but his dark muscular body boldly shows his activeness. He had his reading glass on while reading a document on his table.

After noticing his presence, the chief raised his head to look at him. He took his glasses off and blinked twice before rubbing his eyes.

"You got everything you need for today? I tell you it's gonna be a long journey where you're gonna move in." The chief said in a dark voice. He nodded. He sat on the chair in front of the chief's desk.

"The bodyguards will meet you outside this building and there should be two horses with them for your family. Good luck on your journey to the north, "the chief gave him good luck in their journey.

"Thank you, chief, for the good luck. I hope we don't run into anything other than other men heading north," he remarked, smiling at the chief.

"Just be careful, because the world outside of this village is full of corruption and evil. Everything out there is the polar opposite of what's in this peaceful village," the chief advised.

"You will possibly encounter strong opponents and the possibility of encountering something you've never seen before on your journey, which is why you and your family cannot travel alone on this journey," the chief remarked as he noticed the chief's terror in his eyes.

His brow furrowed abruptly. "Chief, thank you for the uhmm... advice, and thanks for the great and helpful info," Shikari Gakure's father stated.

He gazed at the chief, getting more curious, but the chief had already pursed his lips, restraining himself from speaking further.

He sighed and simply nodded.

"I have to leave now, we can't travel all night", he said as he stood up. The chief nodded and returned to his work on the table.

He left the castle's main office and proceeded to the three-story residence next to the castle. He'll be standing outside until the bodyguards arrive.

After a couple of minutes of waiting outside the castle. Three armored bodyguards arrive, "Why are there only three bodyguards?" He asked.

"You will be encountering a lot of armored bodyguards in the way, so don't get ahead." The guard replied solemnly. One of the bodyguards hands over a light blue scroll to Shikari's father.

"What is this for?" he asks.

"This scroll is the key to the front north wind gate. If you don't have this, you can't get in," the guard answered.

"Okay, I'll hide this for now."

He returns to his family with the horses, while the bodyguards wait outside the Basilaska village gate. They will begin to move as soon as he arrives, and they must remain alert.

The horses are on their way, two horses, and his father is riding one of them. This is their first time riding a horse as a family, so he'll be teaching them how to ride one.

They use horses to travel to the north, where there is more water, fish, and other healthier marine species. North, the north is one of the most prosperous nations of the three other big nations, but not only are the four big nations big, there are other nations bigger than these four big nations, but what the four big nations are afraid of are the Dark mobs and the other Darks, for now, is the well-known name that is strong is the Dark Shira, and this Darks was able to kill the leaders of the south's 4th and 5th armies.

Middle of the day.

They are now leaving at the front gate of Basilaska Village. They will be guarded by these three bodyguards and encounter a lot of armored bodyguards at their destination. Traveling this far is dangerous.

After a couple of hours of travel, it was late at night.

"We've now arrived at the Long Dead Dark Village, which is halfway to our destination," the bodyguard explained. In that day, one half-day has passed.

"It's getting dark on our way, bodyguards, should we be concerned?" Shikari Gakure's father inquired. "Just keep moving, don't stop, there might be something in our back, but everything that's going to happen, we've got it under control," one of the bodyguards replied.

The bodyguard mentioned a dead village in the distance. Seeing the derelict dwellings and seeing a lot of blood while traveling down the river. "Dad, what is that village? It's so dark, and I can smell it. It's terrible," Shikari Gakure inquires. "Son, that's a dead village. Bodyguards, are you sure we're safe?"

"Don't worry there's gonna be a lot of swordsmans coming in here any minute now. I also see a lot of big clear paths, It's gonna be hot at any minute now." He answered making Shikari's father sigh in relief.

After a few minutes of riding in a horse heading north. A bodyguard speaks, and they hear a lot of noises around them. "They're here! Quick Sir! we're gonna be traveling faster if we don't keep up we're gonna be in big trouble," the bodyguard yells at them.

Shikari Gakure's father accelerated the horses' pace. The horses began to accelerate rapidly.

They've seen a dead village, dead animals, and even dead bodies, a dead village is one in which no one lives due to an unknown Creature lurking around in it.

After traveling for three days.

They now arrive at the north front gate, where they see one of the world's largest gate nations, and where they see armored soldiers in the corners.

They notice a keyhole. "Please put the light blue scroll of the gate to enter the north village in here so you can get in," the soldier remarked as he led them. They inserted the scroll.

North Wind is the name of the village. It's one of the giant nations.

The north wind gate is guarded by a large number of armored soldiers. There are two guards outside and on the side of the wall, and four guards at the top. They have a barrier in front of the gate, but there is a hole in the middle of the gate that you must put something in to enter the north wind village, otherwise, you will be considered a thief or a spy from the hidden nations.

His father inserted the light blue scroll, allowing them to enter. The pale blue scroll began to function, and the gate began to open.

Shikari Gakure and his family are now walking inside. Shikari Gakure turns around and notices that there are a lot of people there. A large number of horses approached at the front gate.

They noticed a man shackled and encircled by five guards wielding spears and swords to their left and not far away. Many others were watching to see what the guards would do to that man.

Shikari Gakure's family is walking to the side, he's father suddenly stops. He looks at the guy that has been surrounded by the bodyguards.

He made conversation with the man in front of him. "Why was that man tied up? He was even surrounded by high-ranking guards," he said of the man in front of him. "Because that man allegedly tried to sneak in through the front gate earlier, and he didn't have a light blue scroll, so he tried," the man explained.

The scrolls are symbolized as a key to every great nation's north, south, east, west, and other more hidden big nations.

"We should leave here, more and more people are coming, lest we be separated, Son Shikari Hold my hand," his wife murmured, touching him. They proceed directly to their destination.

Shikari Gakure and his parents are heading out of the crowd but get lost, Shikari Gakure can't wait to get into their new home, Shikari Gakure is tired and exhausted, and his father is looking for for a guard within the Northwind for an assists.

He noticed an armored guard standing outside the castle. "Do you know where the new houses are?" Shikari Gakure's father inquired.

"All the new houses should be on that straight path. Just go far north straight that path and you'll see a lot of new houses." He replied.

"Thank you, Sir!" He thank him as they proceed.

The guard nodded and smiled. As the guard remarked, he slowly turned around and saw a number of armored horses and an army leaving the castle, as well as the heads of the village, who were wearing full-body armor and an army with a mark rank on their shoulder, a leaf rank.

He ignored them and returned to his family, who had moved to their new home. They travel with the horses by their sides, following the guard's instructions to stay on the straight route.

They see an entire stone walkway ahead of them, as well as larger and larger trees. "This should be where the new houses are," his father said calmly as they continued walking.

The heads of the north wind village are aware of an impending major threat in the village, but they continue to ignore it and flee because they don't want to die, they want to continue their smuggling and drug trafficking into other large nations, but their folly will be exposed soon enough.

His father has finally discovered their new home, a two-story house with a barn next to it. Shikari Gakure abandons his horse and rushes to their new home, as promised by his father. His father separates Shikari Gakure's horse and walks inside the stable to feed and rest the horses.

"You should come to our house and put our daughter to bed in a comfortable bed." He told his wife. "Okay, you should be here before dinner," she said. As his wife turned around and headed towards their new home, he smiled.

Their surrounds are densely forested, with some oak wood trees standing at least a hundred to seventy-five feet tall.

Shikari Gakure unlocks the door and enters inside; he notices steps up and stairs down, as well as a fireplace on the left, and he goes to it. Several hours later. It's late at night. They arrived in the village just before midday.

The house has a large space inside. The floor was made out of wood and there was a brown carpet that was laid on the floor, on the right side with a round table and some chairs. The wooden bookshelves are placed on the upstairs right side of the room and the cabinets are placed on the first floor and the second floor both middle left And there's a fireplace on the left of the first-floor room. Near the cabinets.

His father and mother first unpack their clothes to the cabinet and are ready for dinner. After a few minutes, the dinner is ready. "Dinner is ready", His mother shouts, both Shikari Gakure and his sister are on the bed upstairs playing on their pillows. They hear their mom. They are now going down, Shikari Gakure sees a lot of delicious foods and is ready to eat. Before he eats he smells it first to make it delicious.

His mother cooked a lot and even had delicious meals. They eat. Someone knocks on the door, and his mother goes to the door and sees his husband. Shikari calls his father to come eat with them. He did come and eat with his family.

His father left a few minutes ago because he needed to register in the north wind light blue scroll for free resources in the village and he got a lot of stuff back in their house. His father is gonna build something for them tomorrow. After eating, Shikari Gakure, and his sister go back to bed and sleep.

Tomorrow. Shikari Gakure woke up, he rolled around on his bed, and he felt that his sister was no longer beside him. He sat on his bed, and he saw the sunlight passing through the window.

He got to his feet and walked over to the window on the right side of the room. He opened it and saw a beautiful view outside, the sun shining brightly, a massive tree and birds in their nest that could only be seen on the next ground, and youngsters playing chase in the distance in an open grass field.

When he looked to his left, he noticed his father carrying something and walking to their yard.

He carefully opened the door out of the room, and he also went down slowly, first peeking to see if someone was there or not. He saw no one, so he proceeded down. When he came down, he turned to the kitchen and saw his mother and sister cooking and slicing at the dinner table.

He went to the door and left sneakily. His mother sees him but ignores him. Shikari Gakure doesn't know that his mother saw him left.

He opened the door silently and ran quietly through the back of the house, watching his father without seeing him. He became aware of a downstair in the distance.

After a few moments. His father notices him. He sneaked up behind him and surprised him. His father is constructing a bunker near his home for when mysterious creatures invade their village.

A entire day has passed, and something unexpected has occurred. His sister and family are heading to the woods at night to look at the stars.

They are now returning to the house late at night after spending a few minutes admiring the lovely dark sky and stars with the moon. His sister is so tired that her mother has to carry her back to the house.

But then there was a scream. When his father went to find out what had happened and what had caused the scream, he noticed a blood splash on the trunk of a tree in the distance. His father sees something that makes his eyes widen in panic and instead of going for his wife and daughter, he hurries back to Shikari Gakure.

His daughter and wife were murdered by unknown creatures. Shikari Gakure was not safe in the house, despite his father's belief.

He sneaks behind his father, so he doesn't see him and has no idea what's going on. His father turns around and sees Shikari Gakure gawking and shocked at what he just saw after catching a glimpse of his sister and mother in the distance.

Shikari Gakure's parents were murdered, but his father refused to let him die. His younger sister was killed by a Dark Unknown Predator in the woods. His sister is so young that it destroy his mental and emotional health in seconds witnessing what just happened to them.

His father rushes to the back of the house as quickly as he can. He manages to hide Shikari Gakure in the bunker, and his father manages to make it into the bunker and save him, but his father does not survive. Shikari Gakure loses consciousness and falls to the floor after seeing his father get sliced in the head.

A full night has gone by. Shikari Gakure awoke and gently slid out, convinced that all had been a dream. He noticed a lot of bones and blood scattered around the bunker. He notices their house in the distance, which has been severely damaged. He's shocked because the monster is devouring something and he's only four years old.

He believes it is time to flee because the monster is busy devouring someone. He makes his way out of the bunker.

He's slipping out to the bunker, hoping for the best when something unexpected happens. Another creature appears in front of him. As he cried, he screamed loudly. Thinking he's going to die. Suddenly, a man in a mask appears and saves him. The Monster attacks the man in the mask, but the monster is slashed in half and dies.

It's a swordsman from another nation, a hundred more swordsmen arrive, Shikari Gakure is gravely injured, loses consciousness, and falls to the ground with tears streaming down his face.

Shikari Gakure awakens while riding a horse with the man in the mask, astonished to see the entire village from a mountain being destroyed by an unknown large monster and creatures. When he lost consciousness, he forgot what had happened. He lost awareness and fell asleep once more.

It's early in the morning. Shikari Gakure awakens to find himself in a room, sleeping down on a bed. He crawls down on the bed and walks directly to the corner, traumatized.

Footsteps could be heard suddenly arriving to the bedroom outside. Footsteps suddenly came to a halt in front of the door to the room where he had stopped. Someone outside cautiously opened the door. He spotted the youngster in the right corner of the room, afraid and crying silently, and he approached the child slowly. It continued to weep despite the approaching man.

The man that approached tap him on the head and comforted him. The kid slowly stops crying but tears kept streamig down to his cheeks. The man with the masked one just comes to see if the kid is alright.

When the masked man noticed the child whimpering in the corner of his room, he returned and shut the door. When he returns, he brings something to eat and drink for the child He came back. He opened the door and put the food on top of the bed, he comforted the child again to make him eat.

"I know you've been in a situation where your loved ones were killed, and I'm sorry we didn't make it in time. If we'd arrived in time, we could've saved your parents," he stated as Shikari Gakure ignored the food.

"You should eat your food now because it will get cold if you don't, and it won't taste very good if it's not hot," he said.

Shikari Gakure eats slowly while his hands keep trembling. He eats for a long time as the man with the mask chats to him and comforts him.

"In the morning, I'm going to show you a trick you've never seen before, and I'm going to make you one of the strongest swordsmen alive in your generation," he said as Shikari Gakure finished his meal and fell asleep. He did not heard what he said because at those minutes when he spoke his ears were ringing.

The following day. The man in the mask enters Shikari's room and notices that he is still sleeping. A few minutes ago, the masked man was only leaning at the door, waiting for Shikari to wake up. Shikari awoke after a few minutes, and the masked man inquired, "How's your sleeping Shikari?"

Shikari was just lying on the bed when the masked man said, "I'll just go down and get something to eat for you, you have to be strong to be on your own." He stopped leaning and opened the door, walked outside, and went down to get some food for Shikari.

He's already prepared meals in the kitchen. He has a cooked chicken on the dish, and that's all he'll give Shikari. He gets up and opens the door. When he opened the door, he noticed Shikari open the window. Shikari turned back to him, "I want to see the sun and the trees again, and smell at least the leaves around me," he said modestly, as the unknown man wearing a mask saw him accept the loss of his love ones.

"Here's your lunch for today. I hope you enjoy it, and sure!" he said. "What is that food? It's new to me," Shikari says as she moves slowly to the dish. "It's a cooked chicken that kids like eating every day," he explained. For a few minutes, the masked man struggles to persuade Shikari Gakure. He eats the food slowly and thoroughly.

After a few minutes, he finished eating the food, he was very full, but there was still food left on his plate. The masked man took the plate and both of them walked out of the room.

They went down the stairs, and the masked man placed his holding plate on a table before walking out of the house. Shikari noticed the shining sun and blue sky, as well as many horses and knights on the side of the path in the distance ahead of them.

When the masked man was suddenly called, he turned to his left. The masked man instructed him to remain here for a short time. Shikari sat outside the door, just waiting for him.

The masked man spoke for a split second before returning to Shikari, saying, "I will teach you how to be a swordsman today. We will go to a mountain where you will learn how to use a sword." They travel to an unknown place, and a strong current of water can be heard not far away while they are walking in the middle of the forest.

His Master brought him to the waterfall mountain and demonstrated an astonishing skill, even though he can't wait to discover what it is.

(Story Training is not included and the main part, I will write some of the main parts in another novel)

He demonstrated his abilities at the age of five when training with his master, being forced hard taught, carrying weights day by day for at least ten years, and he is now being secretly trained more by his master.

His master showed him a tremendous god from heaven who could only see him once, but then something unexpected happened.

Shikari Gakure master vanishes, believing his master was slain, but he was not. They were ambushed in their own home, and half of the village's inhabitants was nearly slain. When Shikari Gakure and the others are still young. It was the middle of the night when they were attacked by the strange monsters, but his master refused to let him die.

Shikari Gakure's master, the swordsman who was born in the first generation, was trained by a mastered veteran swordsman in their first-generation showing unbelievable superhuman abilities.

Shikari Gakure got trained at the hands of Kuro after the fake death of Shikari Gakure's master but after training. Shikari Gakure and the other ones for more than eight years lost Kuro. Shanished leaving no trace behind.

A lot is happening in the north, with lakes turning to ice and boats becoming stranded on piers as oceans freeze. Animals being slaughtered by a mutant tiger beast, as well as insects, damage farms and crops, leaving farmers with no food to harvest.

People think it was a curse by Shikari Gakure's master to bring dark pathogens into their village. The dark pathogen is a virus that can be passed by a mere human but it all started, when the scientist who made a monster got killed turned into dust, he tried the same as what happens in dark creatures when getting killed turn into dust but he tried it on a monster.

In an experiment, all went wrong. Unknown heads of the east and assassins ruined their experiment, killing all half of the existence in the north and it's village leading to a full scale attack and destroying it completely because of the Darks.

The far north and the southern section of the far north are the only places where life may be spotted. When Shikari Gakure's master vanished with no trace, the people around him assumed that his true master was Kuro, although she is not.

Kuro teaches him how to control his weight and an undiscovered technique. Kuro sees potential in the child and teaches him many techniques, including his own highly mastered technique.

Shikari Gakure is the only one in the new generation who is more powerful than them. Unlike Gakushin Gakure, who becomes powerful at the age of fourteen, Shikari Gakure is already more powerful than his elder normal folks at the age of seven.

Gakushin Gakure, the 14-year-old boy who becomes a chief and trains an army in his hands. Gakushin Gakure goes through Kuro specific training, including being made to carry heavyweights and additional specialist training as prescribed. Accepting her training was entirely his decision.

Shikari Gakure is not a Chief because he left the village in the east to be trained further in the other big nations. He receives training in the other great nations, learning a lot of things, and Kuro vanishes, leaving no traces behind.

Kuro is one of the survivors of the ambush. Kuro is one of the few people in the village that understands what is going on and why they are here. The evil forces from the northwest, Kuro fighting and slaughtering the Dark Shira with a scythe, yet Kuro has never been found in all those years. If a Dark Shira is killed, they crumble to dust or leave no trace.

There are assassins in the West Village.

Swordsmen can be found in the east and north. And the south has remained hidden throughout the ages, and the only enemies are the far north, where the Dark Mobs begin, through generations, the other great nations have released their finest swordsmen in every hideout of the Dark Mobs, but the finest swordsmen, at least some of them, have never returned.

Chapter 2 The Risen of the Unknown Dark Mobs

"New Beginning"

Date: Æ1289 6, 3

The combination of cold and warmth. The sun was shining brightly in the morning. The symphony of the swirling leaves in the big trees around East Village mingled nicely with the sound of birds chirping. The village is being patrolled by a patrol squad.

It's Gakushin Gakure's team, he's a chief His crew can be seen patrolling down in the west side of the east village guarding their citizens in their village. He is recognized as one of the former chiefs in the East, as well as one of the survivors from the north who survived, Shikari Gakure's friend.

While patrolling, he noticed an army traveling west side with horses to the front gate, and seeing Shikari Gakure. He became curious as to why Shikari Gakure was leaving. Shikari Gakure is one of the few survivors who survived in the north, and he became curious and believes that something terrible is about to happen in there day.

She's a Swordswoman from the west, not one of the survivors from the north, but she's powerful as well, but even so, she's outmatched by those who survive from the north, in the north where everything is unexpected and tragedy always happens. That is why no one is coming north, not even Myths and Legends. Fudo Toka is in the east, leading the third army to protect the northern areas.

In the late afternoon. Fudo Toka was riding a horse when she came to a halt, as did the army behind her. She dismounted and rose to her feet. They were at the top of the mountain, where they could view the entire village, and she saw the wrecked village, big walls, dead people, and blood. She can't believe what occurred in the village once known as North Wind, where one of the most wealthy villages was destroyed and transformed into a graveyard. The village has likewise lost its plentiful crops, and everything is deserted.

"Even in the high mountains, we could smell that! We should get going, Soldier SE, lead the army down to the northwest and I'll go to the northeast on my own don't worry I have a teleporter back, I'll teleport to you once I'm done," Fudo Toka remarked solemnly. Soldier SE shouted to the whole army and agreed.

Fudo Toka walked up to the cliff and jumped. It's the quickest way down, and she landed in the small river. Her master is unknown; her master can compete with Shikari Gakure's master, yet many aspects remain unmatched, enigmatic, and full of unresolved questions. She landed in the river smoothly.

The West Village Heads dispatched "The Third Army" with Fudo Toka. Instead of defending places, she is rousing the undead and Dark strong Mobs, like the Dark Shira's.

The river she was lowering was so vicious that she could easily leave. She was very serious and she knew any time anything could happen to her. She walked and she could see the front gate of the North Wind in the far distance. She feels a lot of powerful creatures inside the village and everything inside is real serious.

Because the village is so large, she can only feel strong beings. She walked normally for a few minutes before feeling significant earthquakes. She turned around to the position where she thought the earthquake occurred. She saw a large explosion, but it did not originate from the location of the third army. She watched closely and observed a strong wind approaching. It was a shockwave caused by a large explosion, so she swiftly drew out her sword and utilized a typical method called the sword shield technique to stop the excessive wind, including a super-strong shockwave.

The First Army, East. The first army is preparing to depart from the east gate. An unknown dark aura may be spotted hiding in the large tree outside near the gate. The strange dark aura is rapidly nearing the massive gate and wall.

"Stop moving, turn around, and get out of here! We will engage if you take another step!" screamed a soldier from the tower. The soldier who speaks up to the unknown dark glances at him. The soldier also looked at him, but the unknown dark is hiding his face.

"Fire bows Soldiers! Fire at that mob right now! It's a dark MOB!!!" yelled one of the soldiers. Every soldier left at the gate with a fire bow opened fire on the mob. The mob vanishes as soon as the arrow is launched.

Gakushin Gakure turned around and sensed the explosion coming from the gate. Gakushin Gakure used quantum teleportation, and the ground underneath him flashed. Gakushin Gakure will use the next twelve minutes to relay an emergency message to the heads of their village.

One soldier returns to report the message and call or message their great Swordsman in the village, but the East Capital is so far from the East Great Gate that the soldier instead meets Soldier Æ so he may transfer the message to the East Village Heads.

"What is that explosion that just acquired?" Soldier inquired in a low voice, his gaze fixed on the soldier.

"Sir, it's a dark m-mob, it's fighting our First Army in the front gate, and one of the finest soldiers in the First Army, we need serious back up! Please deploy at least one more finest swordsman from the heads of the village to defeat the Dark mob!" the soldier replied horrified.

"The finest swordsman wouldn't do anything to a dark mob, even a scratch wouldn't do anything... You should go to the heads of the village. I'll message Gakushin Gakure or whoever is available," Soldier Æ replied in a dark voice. Soldier Æ manages to transmit a message to Gakushin Gakure after a couple of minutes, one of the powerful swordsman in their town, who receives it.

"I've been feeling it for a while now, teleport a message to Shikari Gakure and tell him an intruder is a Dark mob," Gakushin Gakure said whispered.

Soldier is currently attempting to teleport a message to Shikari Gakure. Shikari Gakure's mystery mask is Soldier Æ. He is meeting Gakushin Gakure at the East's second gate.

"Gakushin Gakure, I don't think they're having fun. I think it's a Dark Shira, not a dark mob. Should we go help them?" he asked, his voice grim. They were on a dirt route that had been cleared. There was an unknown swordsmen next to Gakushin Gakure who appeared to be calm.

"Dark Shira you say? It's been a long time since I've seen a Dark Shira," Gakushin Gakure said, gazing up at the sky. A second explosion occurred. This time it was much louder.

"Shin, go there and hold that Dark Shira or Dark Mob for me. I'll go there in five minutes, don't die!" He exclaimed as Shin dashed to the front gate. As he runs, he notices many wounded troops and runs past them. He arrived at the gate after a few minutes. Shin notices the Dark Mob, and as he notices it, it flies at him, and they fight head on. Shin draws his sword with his right hand while the Dark Mob holds a sword.

Shin manages to keep the Dark Shira at bay for a short time, but he's not looking good. Gakushin Gakure moves his left foot and teleports in an instant from where he was standing in the distance and draws his sword as his sword flashes.

Shin facing the Dark Shira Swordsmen, swords clashing and crashing can be heard. Both of them come to a complete halt. Shin is catching his breath after his eyes expanded and he was about to kneel.

The dark teleported and vanished in the distance in front of him. Gakushin Gakure arrived in front of Shin, and the Dark teleported in front of him, stepping on his right foot and cutting the Dark Shira in half and turning into dust. Gakushin Gakure breathes in relief as he looks at the dust. He believes that this is not the Dark Shira he just murdered, but rather something else.

"This is just a Dark Mob... Tsk, this shows how powerful they are now and how they've evolved," Gakushin Gakure mused as he re-sheathed his blade. The Dark mob that Gakushin Gakure fought nearly wiped out the First Army, but the First Army is not that formidable. That is why they nearly got wipe out. Shin has already been wounded as a result of the Dark Mob. Shin can't believe what he just witnessed, and he can't believe that Gakushin Gakure is much above their abilities, killing something like this is unfathomable.

Suddenly, a message appears in front of him, and a light flashes. "Gakushin Gakure, this is Shikari, is everything okay over there? I sense that someone left a hole in the barrier," Shikari Gakure said in the message in front of him.

"Shikari we need to renew this barrier, an unknown mob left a hole here, that means this mob is a new being, we need to be careful from now on!" Gakushin Gakure stated warning him.

"Roger!" Shikari Gakure exclaimed.

Gakushin Gakure cannot renew or rebuild this barrier because it is their law that a powerful Swordsman can only hold one god technique, but Gakushin Gakure, Shikari Gakure, and the unknown others can only hold 17 powerful techniques, sometimes not even techniques, because its already their ability, power, soul, and mind that is at stake and some of them are already born with it and already at high peak state.

Shikari Gakure has arrived in the west after journeying for 5 hours nonstop with the Fifth Army and Chief Makurin. Chief Makurin is the commander of the Fifth Army. Shikari Gakure is their top priority in order to keep him safe, but Shikari Gakure does not require assistance.

Shikari Gakures mission is to build a barrier because the barrier in the west was undone by an unknown Dark, however Himura Kiri a swordsman managed to take this Unknown Dark down.

They are known as the Unknown Dark because their faces and particles are all black, and when they are slain or their mission is completed, they leave a complete black in the ground. The true event occurs when Himura Kiri travels to the southwest to meet with his companions, but the unknown Dark appears and nearly kills him.

Himura Kiri wields a sword, but his power is a Shira, a powerful paper technique that can slice or blow them up into dust, but Himura Kiri was unaware of the impending danger. The Unknown Dark manages to attack in the Dark, but he only receives minor injuries. The Unknown Dark then manages to remove the barrier, necessitating Shikari Gakure's creation of a new one as well as the renewal of some of the barriers at the west gate.

At the east gate in the afternoon. Gakushin Gakure is presently making his way to the barrier where the Dark Mob has left a hole. Gakushin Gakure is mad. He begins walking away from the gate, raising his left hand to indicate that the first army ought to leave in the distance. He unlocks the front East Gate with the assistance of a couple of soldiers in the gate and the walls that remain defending the front gate.

Gakushin Gakure orders Shin to remain at this gate in order for him to protect it. Gakushin Gakure knows that Shin is outmatched by the Dark Unknown Mobs but Shin has some experience with these Mobs back in the day so he possibly can handle them. Gakushin Gakure makes the first army come back to the Village and heal the wounded people but Gakushin Gakure knows that the first half army got wiped out and he has nothing to do about it. He left and Shin stays on guard incase something happens.

Gakushin Gakure will now defend the exterior of the barrier and the gate so that it is not demolished until Shikari Gakure returns. He detects Unknown Darks hiding in the deep woodland in the distance. He used his enormous presence to make the unknown darks go away.

Shikari Gakure, on the other side of the west village, reports a message to Chief Makurin, "Chief makurin you need to go to the southwest of village we've got a problem over there. I sense dark monster energy, you should come with half the army, be careful," Shikari Gakure said hurriedly.

Unexpectedly, she was ambushed by undeads in the center of the southwest village where she was traveling. Chief Makurin launches an all-out assault against the undead with half of the fifth army. Chief Makurin instructs Sergeant Soldier EA to deliver a message to Shikari Gakure informing him that the undead have risen.

An unknown Dark Shira appears in front of Chief Makurin and kicks her back towards the dwellings. She went through two houses after crashing and tumbling to the ground, knocking herself out, and dropping her sword, which stabbed the ground to her left.

Darks are sprouting up everywhere, and more zombies are rising. They must defeat the Dark Shira before it is too late.

Shikari Gakure teleported to the location where Chief Makurin had become unconscious. Shikari Gakure healed her and helped her regain consciousness. Chief Makurin can't believe how much pain she has felt with only one hit. She believed she was hopelessly outmatched by Dark Shira. She couldn't manage them, and Shikari Gakure in there wasn't Shikari Gakure, but a clone of him.

He can multiply himself into any number, but not that many because it would consume too much of his energy. He just sends out one clone because it can deal with the Dark Shira in a single blow. Shikari Gakure clone cut the Dark Shira into shreds in the blink of an eye as soon as he reached the Dark Shira.

Shikari Gakure teleported a message to Chief Makurin, telling her that they should finish the Undeads and seal the rising site to prevent additional undead from appearing.

Chief Makurin also transported a message advising him to leave immediately. They had to travel to the far northeast. There was something that had to be done.

Shikari Gakure, on the other hand, succeeds in constructing the first layer of the barrier. Shikari Gakure is merely a legend, not a myth or a god, yet Shikari Gakure is still unique. The barrier is claimed to have at least five layers to make things sturdy and persist for more than a hundred decades.

On the other hand, Fudo Toka. She possesses two fangs. She is the fifth most powerful Swordswoman, and she has two fangs that pop out whenever she is angry. She is also unique, although she is still outmatched by Shikari Gakure.

Fudo Toka is still defending the shockwave, and it hasn't stopped yet. She stares at the enormous shockwave and air in the side of the shield, and she sees a large tree crashing and rolling towards her. The strong shockwave is now weakening, but the tree is still approaching her. She needs to make a move before the enormous tree takes her away.

After a few minutes, the shockwave ends and the large tree comes to a halt next to her shielded sword. She traveled till she reached the large tree that was obstructing her path. She jumped up to the thirty-foot-high and three-hundred-foot-tall tree that was lying on the ground. As soon as she landed on top of the large tree, she noticed something in the distance. She could see a large crater and was still in shock. She dashed to the crater while re-heating her blade, as if it were a meteorite that had just fallen from the sky.

"Shikari Gakure, did you feel that? I teleported a message to you in an instant. The two of us can only do this wherever we want, don't you think it's on her... Fudo Toka? Should we help them?" Gakushin Gakure inquired across inside dimensional space.

"Gakushin, stay alert... Fudo Toka can handle everything from there. We just hope nothing rises or awakens in the north. The thing we sense is probably a meteorite that just falls into the sky," Shikari Gakure replied in the same realm. They both free themselves and return to their consciousness.

She was on top, and at the bottom was the large crater she had seen her entire life. She was astonished because she could see lava that could have come from a meteor that had fallen to the ground. She slid down. She notices a hole on the crater's side as well as black trees falling apart and decaying leaves.

"Hmm... so the meteorite helps us destroy one of the generating creatures in here hmm..." Fudo strolled to the side, contemplating the meteorite and where it originated from.

She noticed movement in the meteorite. She goes down to see what it is for herself. A monster came to a halt at the bottom. A large boulder stands in front of the monster, and within it is lava. Because the lava is streaming out the side, there is a lot of it inside the rock.

Fudo Toka came to a halt and observed the beast as it stood. She has the opportunity to kill the monster, and she does not hesitate to do it.

She notices the Monster has a Dark flower on top of him. It's possible that it's residing inside a monster that may be obtained by humans, animals, or anything else through their strength.

Fudo Toka became bored and slipped down with her sword. She's sliding down, but she detects seven Dark mobs hiding underground. The Dark mobs she detects aren't a major concern for her, it's simply bugs.

When the seven Dark mobs appeared in front of her and shattered the earth, a circling scythe and a chain tied to the scythe handle bursting upon her, she sidesteps while slipping down. The seven Dark hordes eventually reveal themselves fully. One of them is carrying the chain that is tied to the scythe. She kills the Dark mob who is holding it and cuts the six of them. The last one manages to flee, but that Dark mob is rendered ineffective. Fudo Toka is a Flower Shira and she has a super speed that normal people can't do.

"I see... So your weakness is in the back, a sword that slices made that your weakness in the back, what a shame," Fudo Toka muttered, leaping into the Dark monster. As soon as she sliced him, the creature turned to dust. Fudo Toka began to notice the Dark blossom that came out of nowhere as soon as she sliced the creature.

Suddenly, another Dark Big Monster appears, having emerged from the large hole inside the crater. She slashed the creature into four pieces without even lifting her sword.

She sees the Dark flower and attempts to grab it. She raises her palms to the Dark flower, which lights up and flows the powers to her hand and into her body.

Fudo Toka receives the Dark Flower power, but an explosion occurs. Hundreds of Dark hordes appear everywhere she looks. The dark crowds surrounding her escape route and hundreds more of Dark mobs encircle the entire crater.

Fudo Toka detonated a smoke bomb, then used a teleportation technique that took at least five minutes. She can now perform it in two minutes, as opposed to five to ten minutes before she obtained the Dark flower power.

Fudo Toka is being pursued by the Dark mobs, but she manages to flee in time before the Dark mobs see her and the smoke dissapears. She teleports herself to Soldier SE.

As soon as Shikari Gakure transported at Soldier SE, Fudo Toka began calling Shikari Gakure and Gakushin Gakure by teleportation message and for the instant message to the heads, and he puts a teleportation mark in the main spot on the north so that they can hire assassins in the west. It was a hidden spot.

Assassins may only be hired in the West if you leave a teleportation mark in the correct location where their commerce begins.

Assassins are great spies because they can become invisible and hide their presence. Assassins in the West are well trained, with seven years of training and a specific ability to become invisible. Some of them are hidden masters.

Chapter 3 The Rise of the Dark Swordsmans

Date: Æ1289 6, 3

It's late at night. The moon is twinkling with the stars in the sky. An elderly man enters a hidden ancient cave in an unknown place in a dense jungle. The elderly man comes to a halt. He slowly takes something from his pocket with his left hand. A dark scroll is gradually illuminating. He walks inside and a sudden darkness occured.

"The Darkness shall rise, swordsmen of the unknowns," a Dark-voiced elderly man warned. Four swordsmen come from the four corners, each with glowing Dark eyes with particles and one with a white glowing one eye with a dark one standing clutching their Dark blades. They rise in separate corners, dust to stone to a statue, one by one, from the circling pattern block, stones climbing up forming the four swordsmen of unknowns. Bright lights appeared. The lights were coming from the four statues.

The four swordsmen were summoned to a secret Dark cave in the ages, leaving history and memories behind, only legends and myths can find the spot, which can help to destroy or defend. The wind is blowing east and shifting directions. Lucas is one of the royal soldiers in the far south defending the final resting place of the all-powerful Myth.

Gakushin Gakure, with his sword on his right side, stands outside the gate. He felt stunned, as if something weird was happening. He had an inkling of what was going on but refused to think about it. He began walking straight. The wind is blowing briskly from the north. On the left and right sides of Gakushin Gakure, two samurai have just appeared.

"Gakushin Gakure the Heads had requested a mission for you, you're going to the north alone, we're gonna be guarding outside this gate," the left samurai replied modestly.

"I'm going with you, but not to the north. I'm going to the south. I'm just going with you because we need to talk while we're going, and after we finish talking, we'll be going to our destination," the samurai stated as he stood up.

Gakushin Gakure turns around and looks at the samurai who told him everything, after a few moments, Gakushin Gakure agrees. He turns back again, but a strange-looking forest has grown Dark and foggy. Gakushin Gakure walks and draws his sword, slashes with full force towards the forest, and the fog vanishes, but the forest remains Dark.

He began marching toward the Dark Forest in front of him, the samurai on the right followed accordingly, and the samurai on the left began doing something.

In the evening. "Chief Makurin, I'm done with the barrier. We should leave as soon as possible, we need to go back to the village," Shikari Gakure teleported a message to her in an abrupt voice. He stands up and runs as fast as he can to the place where Chief Makurin and the fifth army are.

"Roger!" Chief Makurin replied.

"Fifth Army! Get moving, we're retreating!! The place in here is already clear and sealed. Shikari Gakure will report this to the heads of this village, so we're done!" Chief Makurin shouted to the entire army she was with.

Shikari Gakure is running when he notices the wind abruptly changing direction. He comes to a complete stop and stands firm. When Shikari Gakure, like the wind, comes to a halt. He walked again, and the air moved as his shadow.

"Tsk, this is an illusion dimension... I need to look around and find its core," Shikari Gakure stated. He looked around and everything was the same. He looked down and saw the void. He began to slip.

"This is an illusion, this must be a technique of a powerful Shira trap," he said as he brought out his blade, and then something unexpected happened. His world went black, and he had no choice but to use his strong technique or perish.

He swiftly alters the path of his blade and closes his eyes. He performs a magic sword. The sword turns black and instantly breaks the illusion. Shikari Gakure escapes and rapidly charges to the location of Chief Makurin and the Fifth Army.

Five swordsmen, each wearing a cloak, walk to the Supreme Forest. The wind is quiet, but the trees are gloomy, and the walking path is dim.

"Well, well, well, look who's here!, the five swordsmans of the Greats, Ha!Ha!" An unknown girl's voice can be heard from afar in the woods. The five swordsmen gaze around, trying not to let their guard down in search of the girl's voice.

One of them began to walk in a straight line. The swordsman in his back began to move forward. The swordsman in front trod on what was at his feet and sank, coming to a halt. A scythe rotated in the distance and flew towards him, drawing his katana and swinging his blade up front as soon as the scythe reached him. The scythe's blade collided with the blade of his sword. With the force of the impact, the hood on his head was ripped off. When he looked at the tree where the scythe came from, he noticed a chain attached to the scythe's handle.

"Who are you? Show up!" yelled the swordsman whose sword had clashed with the scythe, grunting furiously.

"Looks like you guys are well trained after all. Well, I'm done here, see you guys later," the voice said from where the scythe was tossed at the start, on top of a massive branch in the distance. They couldn't see the unknown very well.

The swordsman in front notices the unknown girl's hands, she grabs the chain and pulls back the scythe with great force in the distance. The scythe dissappeared and same as the girl, as the five mysterious swordsmen began to walk. The swordsman in front has re-sheathed his katana and wears his hood again that was blown by the force.

In the middle of the night. Shikari Gakure turns around to see a man wearing a jacket and a rucksack on his back, as well as a large sword on his right side.

Shikari Gakure is being observed by the man. He looked at him and strolled by him as if nothing had occurred. Shikari had no idea who or where that man was, nor did he sense his presence. He simply let go of the man and sprinted as fast as he could to his destination. Shikari wanted to ask the man, but he had another issue.

On the other hand were the unknown girl is heading, she was in a forest walking while holding her scythe in her right hand as she sense someone behind her following her.

"You should not follow me," a girl's voice remarked. "Kuro, what was that? It's the middle of the night twilight, who are those swordsmans you fought?! That scythe you're carrying it's supposed to be defending!" a boy remarked in the back of a girl in the middle of the forest at night.

Kuro, the unknown girl, swings her scythe towards the boy behind her, this time with no chain attached. As soon as she sees him crouching and dodge it in the distance, the scythe twists around and returns to Kuro. She hastily grabbed her scythe and vanished, leaving no trace behind. The boy she left behind is a twenty-three-year-old swordsman who sprints towards her but he was slow. He walks back slowly, his head bowed in sorrow.

Gakushin Gakure continues to run towards the location that has been allocated to him. He was on the grassy path, accompanied by an unknown samurai.

"Gakushin Gakure, we should stop in that big tree branch," the samurai stated as they both fell and came to a halt on the massive branch. "We're going to split up, you might be gone for a week or two, you're fighting three thousand Dark mobs in your destination, they don't know about Shikari Gakure but it's said that you're the only one who can do it... I-It's an entire army," the samurai muttered nervously.

"I can handle them, I can ask for backup if I want to, and even if I die... The world still has Shikari Gakure on your side, so... You all will be fine, I'll be back," Gakushin Gakure said with a smile.

Gakushin Gakure leaps down and dashes across the woods. He is aware that he could die during this mission, but he is prepared for it.

Early in the morning. The third army is heading to the east to their old position. Fudo Toka dozed off while teleporting to Soldier SE the previous time. He is riding a horse, and Fudo Toka is snoring while leaning on his back.

After a few minutes, she began to awaken. Fudo Toka opened her eyes and what she saw made her eyes widen. She notices that they are near the North Wind and are currently near the big crater. The third army takes a closer look at the crater and notices that an entire army of Dark mobs has been slain. They believe Fudo Toka is the one who slays the mobs at the bottom of the crater.

Inside the village main office emergency meeting. They were in an underground facility. Unknowns sat in a chair in front of the round table.

"Gather the fourth army! We're making moves!" exclaimed one of the heads. They're holding a meeting at a round table in the center of the room. They gather the main leaders and generals for a conference inside the capital's underground facility.

"I'm the General! And I'm the one who gives orders to my army! I'm gathering every finest soldier and swordsman we have in this village and swordsmen, even retired ones, under my command in the past and in the present!" an unknown general declared.

"We need to take action to stop the impending doom in the north and other unknown and unexplored regions, and the main heads of this village will decide what must be done! Gather every army we have, and... Make Shikari Gakure mad!" one of the head of the village stated in a furious voice.

"We can't just make Shikari Gakure angry! He'll kill us if he finds out," the sergeant cautioned them. They fell silent for a few seconds as a result.

"We deploy Gakushin Gakure in the north. We deploy him as a one-man army to defeat the dark army, that's the decision of every head in this village. Generals, if we don't defeat that army as soon as possible that came out of nowhere we might found ourselves in a predicament." one of the village heads explained.

After a couple of hours of discussion, the chiefs and other members such as sergeants and generals left the room. They will assemble the entire village's army. The war in the far north ended about a decade ago, and a team of Certified Professional Services from the east was called in to deploy their best soldiers, but they never returned.

They sent another of their best soldiers to the far north battlefield, but the same thing never returned. The only thing that returned was an emergency teleportation message. According to reports, an entire army is rising in the far north once more.

"Gakushin Gakure I'm going to Chief Makurin's place, we destroyed one of the undeads rising place in the west, can you deploy a clone to the south?" Shikari Gakure said to the teleported message to Gakushin Gakure.

"I'm deploying one right now!" Gakushin Gakure answered also teleporting a message to him.

Shikari Gakure can now see where Chief Makurin and the Fifth Army are, the entire Fifth Army was ready to go, his arrival was just in time, they were at the top of the mountain and the one at the bottom was the village, and the downhill route was to the west village. Shikari Gakure hurried and told the fifth army to depart. He had only one horse remaining. He rode the horse and went, accelerating the horse to get ahead and lead the fifth army's route.

The Five Greats are still making their way towards the Supreme Forest. They're still about halfway there. The wind is so calm, the left swordsman looks to the left, and they all come to a halt. "What are you looking at?" inquired the swordsman in the back. "The tree changed, there used to be a big tree there, but it's now gone," the swordsman explained. They draw their swords and create a pentagon formation.

The first swordsman in the front is Agatsuma Hit, the left and right swordsmen are Hashibira Kosuke and Hashibira Komoto, and the last two in the back are Tsuyuri Shi and Katrina. They are renowned as the Five Greats and Shikari Gakure masters.

They guard each other as they go to the Supreme Forest, after a while, they remove their hoods and begin racing in a straight line. They still don't know where the monster is in the supreme forest. They suspected that they were still not halfway there.

The army was divided in half, with Chief Makurin travelling east and Gakushin Gakure headed northeast, in case something horrible happened. Gakushin Gakure dispatches a clone heading south, where he will meet Shikari Gakure and the army in the midst of a big forest.

In the South in the middle of the day

"This will be our first trip to another continent," an elderly man commented. "Yeah... I wonder what we'll see on another continent, maybe another home," asked a small youngster. They are both on a boat with a crew and personnel. There are a few individuals on board, and the boat is quite large. The captain and the village leaders stated that they will be traveling in this ocean, which is a pier with many boats chained and tied.

They'll be using a good boat, and there will be plenty of food on board. They're departing shortly, all they need now are the village's best swordsmen, at least five of them.

The third army is preparing to exit the crater. Soldier SE raised his right hand, signaling to the soldiers that they were departing. They all begin to accelerate their horses. Their duty is done, all they need to do now is get home as safely as possible.

When the Five Greats arrive at the Supreme Forest's main hall, they notice that the fog is becoming increasingly thin. They see a large castle in front of them, but it is very old, with numerous vines and plants growing on its walls, and they see a destroyed wall to their left. They've come to the supreme forest to retrieve the emperor's sword, which has been hidden for a long time.

The castle in the supreme forest ahead of them is older than their grandfather's. They sense a lot of presence inside the castle, but it's all unusual. They must be cautious and leave promptly if anything happens.

"It smells here, this place is supposed to be a good part of the forest but... It's all smell blood," Katrina complained as she sighs and made an expressionless face.

"Just don't let down your guard, everything inside should die, Dark mobs or zombies, we might be countering a lot of them," Agatsuma Hit remarked modestly.

They keep walking. They walked into the front castle entrance, and they noticed left and right the dead warriors and knights of the castle from a long time ago, some of them left with only body armor, and they saw the split gate of the castle, where they might confront a monster or a demon.

In the west.

"Himura Kiri, one of the greatest swordsmen of the west, what an honor to meet you," a modest swordsman said.

Himura Kiri was walking when he heard a man's voice speaking behind him and came to a halt. When he turned around, he saw a man wearing a hood, and he couldn't see his face.

"The honor is mine, who are you? I see you're not from the village, are you?" Himura Kiri joked.

Himura Kiri looked left and right as the man he was facing pulled out a blade, and the people around him began to flee. He notices that the person is alone.

"I challenge you to a duel," the hood person said. The man in the hood thrust his sword blade at Himura Kiri. He draws his blade menacingly. The attacker charged Himura Kiri, and the two swords collided, causing a large impact on the ground.

They both flew everywhere, and the swordsman with the hood vanished in a split second as he was going to corner him, as he vanished, a lettered note appeared where he vanished. Himura Kiri resheathed his sword and approached the letter, grabbing it.

The western bodyguards are in his back; they didn't make it in time. Himura Kiri examined the letter, which stated, "Himura Kiri go to the middle of the Demon's hideout and make sure you hide and don't get seen and died you'll get some important information about these things that may help your village, by Kishu." Himura Kiri raised his head and looked up to the sky, Kishu was his old past friend.

The third army is returning to the outpost, still heading east, but it's already nighttime and the fog is beginning to thicken. Fudo Toka awoke on a horse, embracing Soldier SE to keep her from falling off. She looked around and noticed that it was already night, that they were still on a horse, and that they were halfway to the village.

Shikari Gakure sensed the presence of Gakushin Gakure's clone and signaled to the Fifth army to stop. He glanced up and saw Gakushin Gakure standing in a gigantic tree branch of a tree. They were in the middle of an unfamiliar woodland. The massive trees were spread out.

"Gakushin Gakure, go south and go to the boat that's gonna be traveling soon to the other continent, make sure they're safe, and make sure you got in the boat, and if you don't make it, use a technique to walk on water," Shikari Gakure said.

Gakushin Gakure grinned and nodded. The army is startled because a boat hasn't traveled that far in a long time. Gakushin Gakure suddenly dashed to the ground and flew by him and the soldiers in seconds, heading south. The fifth army and Shikari Gakure began to advance out of the forest.

The real Gakushin Gakure eventually makes it to the north, but as he travels there, he senses the presence of the third army and Fudo Toka, he sees a large crater in the north, and the village is huge, but it's devastated, and the walls have some holes in them.

As he descends, he notices a plethora of massive trees laying in the ground. He also notices Fudo Toka's sword shield mark on the ground when the tremendous shock wave arrives.

"This could be the north, I'm not sure how she survived. I put something inside my clone so that if I get hurt, it won't disappear unless I die," Gakushin Gakure thought as he raised his head and looked up at the sky. He then lowered his head and draw his sword with his right hand and approached the front gate of the village without a presence.
