CHAPTER 1.

Moonlight tales of the vampire king have been told by my family from generation to generation, my father was a hunter, he hunted down metaphysical beings and brought them to justice, my dad was the leader of the hunter group, and his rulership brought fear in the lives of metaphysical beings.

My dad's hate for them kept on growing, even after mom's death, he sort the lives of whosoever, that isn't human.

And his new marriage to my stepmom, dad never stopped, he continued, until one day, he went on a hunt in the forest and was murdered by the same thing he hated so much.

The vampire king.

A vicious, bloodthirsty vampire, that has lived his life's, feeding on human blood.

He killed my father and now, he's after the one thing that can be able to kill him.

That is me and the powers of the full blood moon.

STORY...........

I had just completed classes at college, I stopped a taxi and on my way back home, Alvin called, come to our secret spot, he says, and immediately disconnected the call.

I thought maybe he had a surprise for me because it's been two years since we started dating and a week from now is going to be our anniversary.

I guess Alvin would like to celebrate it on time this year.

I asked the cab driver to stop me at a huge gate in an abandoned street, he looked at me and I paid the cab fee.

I'm sure in his mind he might be thinking, what the hell is this girl doing here alone, on a lonely street, going into an abandoned mansion.

"Alvin"

I walked in and everywhere was covered in darkness.

It was so dark that I pulled out my phone and used the flashlight on it, I scanned through and my heart almost jump out of my chest the minute it landed on him.

"Hello, baby" He smooched my cheeks, "I have been waiting for you," he puts in.

I heaved a step away from him.

"What happened?" I raised a question.

He takes my hand and walked a little further, Alvin asked me to stay at a spot while he gets the light switched on.

I waited and when he returned, I felt something strange about his facial expression.

"Alvin is everything okay?"

I asked.

He nods a little, walked closer to me, and pulled out my hand to his chest.

"You do know that I love you right?" He smiles.

"Yes, but tell me, what's going on?"

I investigated.

I was pulled away by him, and he turns his back on me, concealing a huge truth.

Anytime Alvin acts like there's something stuck on his throat, it only means there's something he's either trying to tell you or wants to give you.

Regardless I think he has something to tell me.

"Alvin"

I pulled him back to my gaze, "tell me the truth," I said holding both his hands.

He looks at it and raised to speak.

"I am sorry Ava, but I don't think we can continue seeing each other,"

He tells slapping my hands away.

I trembled my head in doubt, did Alvin just break up with me, or have I started hearing things.

I interrogated him for a detailed explanation and he had my ears filled up with the crazy disparity between us.

Alvin says, we were not right for each other, he also said, he thought I was his mate, but I ended up being another mistake of his.

Like what in the odds, I've just been waiting two years of my life with a guy that never saw me as anything important.

I was star-struck by his words, he rides past and before leaving had me return the promise ring he gifted me on my birthday.

Alvin turns his back on me, just like a stranger would, and abandons me without taking a look back.

I'm going to let him go, I hurried after him but he already left in his car.

I sat on a boulder with my bag in the dirt, I still couldn't believe Alvin just abandoned me, after so many years of being together.

Is my life ever going to be the same, after all, he was my mate?

Can I get another chance?

Mom's call comes in after a while, I picked up and she instructed me to come back home since she had an evening shift at the hospital.

I got up and swiftly made my way out of the huge gate and far from the place I was just abandoned.

I walked on the streets with no one to look after me, it was so dark and quiet that I do not think cabs can be gotten there.

I crossed the streets without looking and an incoming vehicle almost knocked me unconscious.

Thankfully a hand dragged me on time and I fell my head on the chest of a man I had no clue of.

I looked at him and he pulls me back.

"Are you that blind, don't you look before walking?" He shouted to my face.

I stood there without altering a single word when all of a sudden I broke down in tears.

I cried bitterly and instead of him consoling me, he just left me there but gave me a gift to remember him by.

His handkerchief.

After a short time alone, I got up and managed to find my way home.

Mom was seated on the front porch when my cab stopped.

She rushed down wanting to shout, but seeing the look on my face, she asked if everything was okay.

I nodded and brushed past her without altering another word.

Mom couldn't make out time to come in and so left with the cab I came home with to work.

Meanwhile, I got into my room, pulled out my clothes, and walked into the bathroom.

Having a cold bath will do me good.

I went under the cold running water and while it watched my body clean, my heart also needed to be as well.

I got out of the shower and cleaned my body with a towel, and since my nightwear was lying on the bed I had to come to get it.

I went into my room naked.

I held up my nightwear and wore them, I packed my hair above my neck when the handkerchief that stranger gave to me fell from my bag.

Who could he be?.

Regardless of his help, he's really rude and arrogant.

Like who leaves a lady alone crying on a lonely street.

Well, only the devil does that, and I won't be surprised if he is the devil's advocate.

I picked up the handkerchief on the ground, I had two options, either throw it away inside the trashcan, or keep it, but oddly, I have the urge of keeping the stranger's handkerchief, deep down something told me, we might see again.

Weird.

Chapter 2

The next morning, the first thing my eyes saw was the same handkerchief.

I turned my back, but still had the urge to look at it, I got down from the bed, walked to my table, and stared at the handkerchief.

An immovable object that was given to me by a stranger.

I went back to my wardrobe surfing through an attire to wear to school, I picked up a little plain but cute dress to go out today.

I didn't feel like dressing up since yesterday, my supposed mate broke up with me.

It isn't the first time this happened, the last two years I got my heart destroyed by my first love before Alvin came along.

We were friends at first and eventually it turned into love, I didn't mind at all even after he exposed his real self to me being a werewolf.

I didn't mind, I fell hopelessly in love with him, if anyone would have told me the boy that saved my heart from breaking the first time would also break the same heart, I won't believe it.

But here we are, dancing to the same music I did two years ago, I swear, if I ever come in contact with another werewolf, I will drive a stick to his heart.

I am not getting my heart broken the third time.

I got to school in a taxi and it stopped at the front gate, I got down and walked into the college premises.

Everyone in school was either, gisting with their friends, dancing or trying to create problems.

I rode through the hallway heading to my class, I passed violet and her friends, just when I thought I wouldn't want to get bullied by her, that bitch sure knows how to irritate me the more every single day.

"Hello, Ava,"

She blocked my path.

I tried to go around, but her friends had the other route blocked too...

I had no choice but to respond to her greeting.

"Hello violet, good morning,"

I said.

She laughed. She pulled up her hand to my face and playfully slapped it.

I clenched my hands in anger, I had every right to vent but no, today wasn't a very good day.

Violet saw I had nothing to say and so asked her friends to move out of my way.

I smiled a little, took the first step ahead, and upon taking the second step, she pulled out her legs and I tripped almost crashing into a trashcan.

Luckily, a hand pulls me the other way and I fell my head on a chest that felt so familiar.

I hoisted my head and saw it was the stranger I met yesterday that gave me his handkerchief as a gift.

He tossed me away and walked over to violet, he takes her by her hand and with just a push, she goes flying into the same trashcan.

Everyone went ballistic, I looked with so much surprise at violet's face, she yelled and ordered her friends to come to help her...

The students present there all took a photo and video of her, we all laughed at the scene and in the midst of everyone laughing, the stranger disappeared from there.

Where did he go to?.

Chapter 3

I got into my hall and while lecturing, I veered to my left and I met him coming in with the Dean of the college.

Dean Fabian Royce.

He walks in with the stranger that gave me the handkerchief, I got so interested as to why the dean was here with him.

Dean Fabian had him acquainted with the entire class, he called him, Jax Leon.

Everyone in the hall, most especially the ladies made googly eyes with him.

Jax on the other hand wore a serious face and rides past their seats without taking a look at them.

I laughed within, my pen fell from my hand, I bent down to get it and getting up, I saw Jax was seated next to me.

Our eyes met and immediately he looks away facing the professor teaching.

That's strange, why do I have this feeling that Jax is avoiding my gaze.

I also faced the professor and after classes, I went out of the hall heading to the library.

Jax walks out of the hallway and while he rides past, every girl turned and looked at him.

I won't delude, Jax was very handsome, like he was a whole 10/10 package, I am certain in less than a week, he's going to get a lot of admiration from a 99% of the girls here.

While the one percent, which is me, will watch and laugh, as he sent whatever love gesture they have for him straight to hell.

I was just going to the library when I withdrew back, spotting violet talking with Jax.

I moved a little closer, hiding behind a pillar. Violet tried to use her charms to woo him, isn't Jax the same person that throw her directly into a trashcan, and now she's trying to salvage herself with him?.

She's indeed shameless.

I listened to everything she had to say, Jax, on the other hand, kept quiet, he takes a look at her and rides past without giving her a single response.

Violet screamed and stormed out, her friends more like Barbie dolls went after her.

I felt sorry and a lot pleased Jax didn't listen to her manipulated words, I took a step further to leave, and just then I was dragged back by the same person I thought had fled.

"J...Jax,"

I sputtered.

He jammed my back on the wall, grabbing my hands apart.

I look down and saw that his shirt was half-buttoned, and he was a lot close to me.

Our lips were an inch close and the only thing stopping me from kissing him was the fact that I feel I might not live to tell the story.

"Tell me something, Ava?"

He spoke out, "were you listening to my conversation?" He puts in.

I swallowed a hard spit, do I have to tell him the truth, because I might end up with a huge problem.

Jax waited for my response and since I couldn't find my words, he lets me go and left.
