Rissa made her way to the gigantic bed of the hotel suite that her husband, Liam had rented for the whole week.
A few minutes later, she felt a hand caressing her body in her dark room; she smiled inwardly as she called out to him seductively, "Babe" he kept touching her, and it felt good; Rissa dragged his face to hers, and their lips met.
He kissed her hungrily, and she couldn't help but smile at how good it felt; she felt his hand move upward to her nipples as he sucked them lovingly, making her wet in her core even though she felt dizzy.
She felt his hardness bulging out against her stomach; it felt good, and her nostrils were filled with the tantalizing aroma of his exquisite Cologne.
"I love you, babe", she whispered into his ears, but he didn't respond with words; instead, he pushed into her wetness, and their bodies moved in sync.
Rissa felt pleasure, but she felt too weak; her eyelids were too heavy to open; she tried to look into his charming eyes, but in her sleep-wake, she could only make out his frame.
She fell back into a deep sleep only to wake up when the reflection of the sun hit her skin. To her surprise, Liam was sitting stiffly on the sofa opposite the bed, staring blankly at her. It took Rissa some seconds to make sense of the situation.
Liam was sitting there; Rissa jolted up, alerting the man beside her.
Before she knew it, Liam stood up abruptly, threw his wedding band to her and made to leave "Liam, wait! Liam!" Rissa managed to wrap herself in a blanket
She didn't care about the eyes that followed her as she ran after her husband, Liam, who painfully couldn't turn back to look at her. "I can explain, Liam; I swear I didn't", Rissa managed to mouth.
Liam's eyes glinted dangerously, he unbuttoned his well-tailored tuxedo as he walked on, Rissa caught up to him
She held his shoulder tightly but he shoved her aside making her fall on her butt but Rissa didn't give up
"Listen to me Liam, I can explain everyt..." She pleaded desperately but Liam still kept his gaze away from her
"How did I end up with a shameless slut like you!" Liam said dangerously still shoving away her hand as she made to hold him
"I have never....I am sorry I..." Rissa started but was cut off by the judgemental gaze of a couple that passed by at the moment.
Liam got to the elevator and prevented her from entering with him, she quickly rushed through to the stairs and climbed vigorously.
"I love you, Liam; I am sorry", Rissa kept on blabbing endlessly to herself. By the time she got to the last staircase, Liam was already out of the doors of the hotel.
He got into his Rolls Royce and sped off immediately. Rissa felt lightheaded from her hangover, and she held the rail of the stairwell for support.
An idea popped up in her head, and she felt uncontrollable rage towards the man Liam caught in bed with her, she quickly climbed through the gigantic stairs to make him regret ruining her
To her utter shock, her one-night stand had disappeared into thin air; Rissa screamed out in her head, how was she going to defend herself? Liam would never listen to her. She busted into uncontrollable tears.
She quickly picked up her phone and called Diane, her friend, who picked up almost instantly.
"Before you tell me about your sweet lovemaking, last night bride, hope Liam is out of earshot," Diane asked teasingly
Rissa busted into uncontrollable tears, she couldn't hold back her emotions
"Baby girl what happened!" Diane asked startled, she dropped the toothbrush she was holding
It took Rissa some seconds before she could muster the courage to spill out her misfortune
"Liam caught me in bed with another man" Rissa blurted out dejectedly
"What! How the hell did that happen?" Diane asked in awe
"It is hard to explain Diane" Rissa retorted and cried more
"Shuush baby girl, I will be with you in a jiffy, don't do anything till I come " Diane said in haste pulling off her night robe
"What about the fling?" Diane asked carefully trying not to betray her emotion
"He disappeared into thin air" Rissa responded trying to hold back her tears
Diane heaved a frustrated sigh; it was supposed to be Rissa's wedding night; how did she end up in such a terrible situation?
She quickly dabbed her face with water, changed into a blue flare gown and picked up her Louis Vuitton bag.
Within ten minutes Diane her friend rushed down to her
"How the hell did this happen!" Diane asked restlessly, feeling agitated by the unfortunate outturn of events
Rissa could barely contain her tears" It wasn't my fault Diane, the alcohol got the best of me, I slept off after you left, then..then" she stuttered
"It is okay Rissa" Diane patted her shoulder in consolation, "we will get through this together"
"Did you see his face? I mean the.. him.." Diane said, choosing her words carefully so as not to upset her more. Rissa nodded and cried on bitterly.
Diane sighed dejectedly "This isn't good Rissa, we need to convince Liam it wasn't your fault"
"He wouldn't even look at me", Rissa cried, holding up the wedding band Liam had dropped earlier.
Diane pulled her closer and hugged her lovingly. Rissa held on to her and cried her eyes out. Nobody else could feel her pain as Diane does.
"I will talk to Liam, we will sort it all out, don't worry" Diane assured patting her back
"Thank you, Diane, you are the only one I have, " Rissa said gratefully
Rissa's phone chimed and she disentangled from Diane as she saw that it was from Liam.
She read the message and sank into despair. Diane wrenched the phone out of her tight grip and read out "My lawyer will mail the divorce papers to you".
Diane punched the remote control angrily switching off the television as the unfortunate news of Rissa's tragedy was displayed.
She rummaged her well-polished fingernails in her hair and bit her quavering lips
"It is all over the internet, Rissa", she said sardonically and sank back on the sofa beside her best friend.
Fresh tears streamed out from Rissa's pale face; she had to disguise herself hideously to exit the hotel, where she was apprehended by her husband.
"This is the worst that could happen! I have no idea how on earth the reporters captured you in that blanket" Diane screamed in frustration
"I...I ran after Liam to stop him," Rissa responded dejectedly, feeling foolish for putting herself in a trap as she did.
Diane hugged her lovingly "It is okay baby girl, we will get through this together" Diane consoled her but Rissa disentangled herself from her arms
"Be realistic Diane! there is no getting out of it; I just lost my marriage, I lost my job, I lost the man I love, and to cap it all, I am all over the internet half naked!" Rissa blurted out angrily
Diane couldn't dismiss it, Rissa was right, she just lost everything, workplace romance backfires in a tough blow if it turns out bloody like Rissa's did
"Look at it, look closely, that is my divorce papers of a one-day marriage!" Rissa said dangling the divorce papers mailed to her a few hours ago in Diane's face
She threw the paper on the table carelessly " I cannot even walk silently on the streets without being bashed by a stranger", she busted into uncontrollable tears.
"Calm down baby girl, I know all of it, I sympathize with you, that is why I brought you here to my house, you can stay for now" Diane calmly said
Rissa raised a questioning brow at her" How long do you think cheating on the CEO of Golden Fingers on the wedding night lasts before the world moves past it" Rissa asked sardonically mocking her pitiful situation
Diane was mute; she honestly knew it would take quite some time; even getting another job in a prestigious company wouldn't be easy for her now that the internet had nicknamed Rissa "the slutty Cinderella that cheated on her charming prince on their wedding night".
"I have a suggestion, baby girl", Diane said, adjusting herself on her seat; Rissa raised her head in anticipation as all solutions eluded her at the moment.
Even picking up calls wasn't easy for her as she got cursed from every angle. The only consolation she got was a short message from her loving mother and, of course, Diane's help.
"You have my listening ears" Rissa said lazily despite her head pounding heavily
"I think you should leave town for some time" Diane said and Rissa adjusted uncomfortably in her seat
"Hear me out; I know you cherish your career, but right now, it has gone down the drain, so you need to step back for a while from the crowd; once this tragedy is long forgotten, you can resurface and take back the wheel of your life" Diane advised her.
Rissa was silent for some seconds, contemplating Diane's words. It all made sense, but she felt a sense of uneasiness about it; was she meant to run away from the problem?
"You have a home in the countryside with less judgemental people; go there, spend some time with nature, heal and return stronger", Diane added, giving her hope.
Rissa kept weighing her words carefully but her clouded mind wasn't clear on decision making at the moment.
"How long do you think it will take for my step back from the world," Rissa asked intuitively
Diane smiled coyly "Come on, baby girl; the world moves on very fast; the internet gets busy every day, six months maybe, a year or two years at most", she responded, shrugging her shoulder.
"That ain't too long I guess" Rissa responded dejectedly, she cleaned her teary eyes "I am famished "
"I made you omelette and some fresh juice; help yourself to it. I am going out to see a date," Diane said, standing up and putting on some jewellery.
Rissa stood up and made her way to the kitchen as Diane got her shoes on; she was about to exit the house when Rissa shouted, "Have fun, babe," and Diane shut the door.
Diane swayed her hips as she walked into the VIP elevator. She punched the fifth floor instantly the elevator took off. She got off at the fifth floor and adjusted her maroon mini skirt that hugged her curves.
She turned the doorknob and let herself in " Good afternoon Mr Hickson" Diane said smiling pleasantly
"Diane, you asked to see me", Liam said in a businesslike tone, ignoring her pleasantries and not bothering to offer her a seat.
"I just want......." Diane said but was cut off by Liam, "If you are here to cook up an excuse for Rissa, you can see yourself out; I do not want to talk about her" Liam coldly cut her off.
"I know you hate Rissa right now, but how can I not talk about it?" Diane said pleadingly.
"It is over, Diane; I have sent her the divorce papers", Liam said, feeling pompous.
"I am sorry, Liam", Diane said pleadingly; she moved up to him to console him.
Liam could not help but notice how her well-blended makeup accentuated her flawless skin, her cleavage showing off in her bustline.
"I trusted her Diane, I wanted to give the world to Rissa" Liam busted out angrily
"I am sorry, Liam. I warned her several times against flings like that, but she assumed I was old-fashioned", Diane said softly, batting her long lashes.
"What! She has been cheating on me from the onset!" Liam screamed, losing his temper. Diane quickly held him by the shoulder.
"I just found out about it all recently, too, but she begged me that she had stopped it; I didn't expect it to happen again, not on your wedding night at that", Diane further added, enjoying Liam's reaction.
Diane could not help but drool intently over his handsomeness, his black shimmering hair and dimples could make an onlooker fall on his feet. His good looks were further refined by his high taste in fashion.
Looking at his custom-made brown tuxedo, Diane could not help but wonder how much of a fortune it cost, probably her whole month's salary. Liam's sophistication and charm had always held many female's hearts, including hers.
"You are not alone, Liam; I am also trying to heal from a broken heart; anyway, if you need a drinking buddy or a listening ear, mine is always available for you", Diane said in her softest, seductive, appealing tone.
"Do you have any prior plans? What about tonight? Can you be my drinking buddy and listening ears?" Liam said, falling for her empathic ability.
"I am very much available" Diane said sweetly, smiling pleasantly at herself for the accomplished mission.
Liam requested the bar attendant bring in some wine as he kept on pouring himself while blabbing endlessly about Rissa's betrayal.
Diane listened with rapt attention also drinking along with him. Being a light drinker, Liam had drunk himself into a stupor with a twinkle of an eye.
"I feel stupid, Diane; she was all cuddled up with him," Liam said and busted into uncontrollable tears.
Diane smiled coyly, she stood up and traced her well-manicured fingernails over his broad chest
"You were too good for her, Liam", she responded devilishly, relishing in Liam's shattered emotion.
He flinched at her touch but didn't try to stop her, she took it as a clue to keep on.
She sat on his muscled lap and brought his handsome face to hers, their lips only inches away.
"I will make love to you tonight," Diane said authoritatively and glued her lips to his. Liam's eyes widened in shock, but in his vulnerability, he kissed her back hungrily.
Diane adjusted her bra straps as she hastily got up to get dressed; she looked at Liam's charming face, even in his sleep.
She felt the trickling ache between her legs and smiled satisfactorily to herself. She had finally made love to Liam as she had always desired, and it felt good.
Liam adjusted on the bed as his body kept signalling his usual waking hour, but his pounding head protested he stayed longer in bed.
In his subconscious, he debated whether it was all a bad dream or his imagination that he just had sex.
"You are awake", he heard Diane's voice clearly in his head, but he couldn't bring himself to believe it.
He opened his left eye gently and closed it again as Diane's boldface met his.
She sensed his uneasiness and drew back. Liam felt silly for his childishness, and he summoned the courage to face heads on whatever might have transpired between them.
He opened his eyes widely and sat up on the gigantic bed; he looked over at Diane, who was batting her long lashes with a confused expression on her face.
"I am awake", Liam responded after some time. He racked his brain to make sense of the awkward situation.
He felt a pounding headache and he held his head in his hands
"Are you okay, it must be a hangover?" Diane said sweetly showing him care
"I am fine" Liam lied. He raised the blanket and his heart skipped a beat at his naked position, he felt terrible for his loss of self-control
"I had..." " I am so...." They chorused at once but Diane smiled knowingly
"I was about to say I had fun last night," she said seductively
Liam's eyes widened and his expression darkened "It wasn't right" he said coldly
With a speed of light, he moved towards his underwear and clothes that were scattered in the heat of their lust.
Diane's lips twitched at his nudeness before Liam swiftly covered himself up.
"It was great, you were great last night, Liam; I loved every bit of it," Diane said, moving towards him.
Liam's memory of the night surfaced; he remembered Diane sitting on his lap, their intently hungry kiss, how they both started undressing each other and the eventual sex.
"How do I make it up to you, Miss Donaldson? I am sorry for my drunken state; I lost control of myself," Liam said apologetically.
"I do not want your money Liam" she lied effortlessly "And to keep your mind at ease, it didn't happen without my consent" she said firmly
Liam looked at her, and his expression softened; having a fling wasn't his thing; he has always been very precise in all his decisions except this.
"What do you want, Diane?" he said softly, buttoning up his tuxedo; taking a bath is a luxury he could not afford at the moment; he just needed to get himself out of the awkward situation.
"I wish we get to know each other better; you need me now more than ever, Liam, someone to take your mind away from the blow of Rissa's betrayal," she said convincingly.
Liam wasn't buying the bullshit, he is a businessman that has won many difficult deals. He knows the art of gaslighting all too well.
"This is betrayal Diane" Liam said with a cold expression on his face
Diane furrowed her brow, her lips curled up in what seemed like a half-smile
"Wake up, lover boy; she cheated on you right on your wedding night; you divorced her, so to ease your mind, we didn't betray anyone!" Diane said firmly pretending to be hurt by Liam's resistance.
From the onset, she knew it wouldn't be an easy feat to make Liam see her, he had always had eyes for Rissa alone.
Before Liam could think of how to handle the situation, Diane picked up her bag and walked out swiftly swaying her hips in her stride.
Liam's phone rang and he picked up instantly without pleasantries he questioned the caller impatiently
"Is it done?" He asked coldly moving towards the exit door
"Yes charming prince, she has signed the divorce papers" Jonathan his lawyer responded with a sleepy voice
Liam heaved a sigh of relief, and at the same time, he felt a pang of stabbing pain in his heart.
Wasn't she supposed to grovel and beg at least longer? Rissa was making it all too easier
If she had pretended to love him for materialism, she should have acted more like it.
Diane was right, he was delusional, Rissa deserves all the humiliation social media has in stock for her
"Hello, Liam; anything else? I take having a long nap on weekends seriously to keep my skin supple" Jonathan joked lightly but Liam wasn't in the mood
He rolled his eyes inwardly " I am hanging up, clown", he said and hung up immediately before Jonathan could crack any more ridiculous jokes.
Diane dropped her bag which fell with a thud, Rissa ran up to her and engulfed her in a tight embrace
"I was so bored all night" she said giggling weirdly like a teenager
"I didn't plan on sleeping over initially" Diane said plastering a fake smile on her face
Rissa gave her a weird look, smiling "The date seems to have blown hotter than you anticipated", she teased her.
Diane smiled pleasantly in a bid to hide her disappointment at Liam's resistance "Was he very good-looking?" Rissa asked teasingly trying to get over her depressed state
"Trust me on the looks, he is a demigod" Diane boasted proudly making Rissa more curious
"Really! That ticks the first on your list; what about the dough?" Rissa inquired dragging her to the couch.
"He is damn wealthy Rissa " she said blushing furiously
"Hmmm... what about the...you know what I mean," Rissa said winking at her playfully
"The sex was great too," Diane responded, reminiscing about Liam's sexy body on hers.
"Then it is all so perfect, I hope you both click," Rissa said happily
"We will, eventually! Because I will give it all it takes," Diane responded with a cocky smile on her face.
Her phone rang loudly "Your ringer irks me old lady, one sign of a successful hook, I bet my all it is your prince charming calling" Rissa joked making her way to the kitchen
Diane heaved a sigh of relief at Rissa's departure as Liam's number was displayed on the screen
"Hello," she said in an icy cold tone feigning hurtfulness
"I need to see you, Diane", Liam responded hastily and hung up before she could protest.
