~*~*~*~*~*~*~*HAPPY READS*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

.

The weather became calm after a tremendous storm happened in La Vista beach. Everyone was rejoicing for a fantastic victory.

The news even put some fireworks memes beside Bradley's, the notorious gang leader who had been finally captured by the police, face indicating the law had won and everything would go back to normal.

Everyone was joyful and victorious, except for the CEO of Park Incorporated. He was sitting on his grand CEO's chair staring blankly at the window looking at the giant billboard commercial. He bored himself watching the continuous play of the single ad.

"She just left like that!" he murmured thinking someone was listening to him in his own office. He was furious that she didn't give him a chance to explain his situation.

He was forced to get married to Janice. He called her his angel because the girl saved his life from drowning in the family pool when they were kids. As a kind of gratitude, he accepted the girl's requests. Yes! Request with an 'S'. The first was, Brandon must be saved her name on his phone with an ID "My Angel" forever. Her second, when the right time came, he would marry her.

His forehead was forming thin lines as he leaned his back on his chair thinking of that past when she was one of his assistants. A light smile appeared at the corner of his thin lips upon remembering how his woman applied for the position.

A Series of flashbacks slowly emerged on his thoughts as he spun his pen with his fingers.

He started on day one!

"Larry, find a new assistant to help you deal with some of the new projects abroad. I need you to go out of the country alone once in a while!" he told Larry Green, his assistant for almost a decade now.

Since his father gave him the authority to take full control of their huge business when he was just eighteen years old, Larry who had the same age as him, a twenty-eight, was his one and only assistant in CEO Incorporated China. He was a capable and trusted person in his job.

He had also several assistants in their branches abroad but Larry was the best.

"Sir, still no female assistant?" he asked while he squinted his eyes on his boss.

Brandon never liked to have a female assistant for the reason that in his opinion, they were not as capable as the men when it came to handling big responsibilities. For him, women were more suited to warm their men's beds.

"Yes! The same rule," he answered and started signing some contracts on his desk.

Larry couldn't help but shake his head when he left his office.

How he wished there was also a belle working with him for this company. He had been suffering from disillusion made by his boss. That women were troublemakers and not capable of handling tasks in the corporate world.

He had no idea that their mere existence in a room could liven the depressing atmosphere and could change it to a colorful and inspiring one.

Sometimes Larry thought, his boss needed a real girlfriend to tame him and to change his perspective about the opposite sex.

"Oh boy! I am going to have a headache working with a man and working for a man the whole day!" he complained as he murmured alone at his desk.

He sent an email to the personnel department immediately. He was about to take his lunch break when he saw his CEO leaving his office with a beautiful woman clinging to his arm.

"Baby, after our lunch you promised to go shopping with me!" Georgia said in a flirtatious tone while she flickered her long thick eyelashes.

"Of course! How could I break my promise? Don't worry, after lunch we will go to Hansen Department Store and you can choose anything you want!" he answered as he lightly kissed her lips.

"Awww! Brandon! Don't worry, I will take care of you tonight," she whispered in his ear which made him grin.

Larry followed them with his gaze. Georgia was a top model in the country and she had been dating Brandon for quite a while now.

But she was not the only woman he was dating currently. He also had Dianne, who was a sports newscaster, and Claudine, a kindergarten teacher.

Yes! His boss was a complete player. But it's not his fault. These women were the ones throwing themselves to him.

Larry just took a deep sigh. How he wished he was Brandon being surrounded by lovely flowers in the Garden of Eden but No! He was isolated in the Sahara desert with no food nor water.

He had been dehydrating for a long time.

Then he suddenly remembered something. He snapped his fingers while a crazy idea popped out on his drained mind.

"The woman in Lotus Bar!" he exclaimed as he rose from his feet. It was a good thing it was lunchtime and he was alone on that floor, if not the employees in the company might think he was acting strange.

"I'm sorry sir but consider it as my reward," he thought while sneering.

Larry had Flora's contact number. Brandon ordered him to find her and to know her personal information after the incident in the bar.

He called the number on the paper. It rang for a long time before it was connected to someone.

"Hello!" Flora answered. She was hesitant to answer at first for the number was unfamiliar but when she thought it would be one of the companies she applied for a job, she immediately slid the receiver's icon.

"Miss Flora Adams, is this you?" Larry asked in a baritone voice.

"Yes, may I know who this is?" she asked back while staring at her resume in her notebook.

"I am the assistant of Park Incorporated and we require another assistant," Larry answered anticipating she would get what he meant.

Flora got up abruptly upon hearing what he said. But then she dismissed her joy when she realized something.

"How did you get my number and how did you know my name?" Flora asked and this time she was no longer comfortable.

"Our CEO is a friend of one of the companies you applied for. They recommended you to us and SHE was satisfied with your experience in dealing with people and making strategies," he delivered his lies perfectly.

Flora was beginning to believe but she was also a well-experienced woman when it came to scheming and lying.

"What is the name of the company and what is your boss' name?" she asked while raising her eyebrow.

Larry didn't prepare for her rebound. He had to weave a lie fast if not all of the things he started would be gone to waste.

"Miss Adams, our boss' name is Bree. It seems like you are not interested in our offer. I am sorry to bother your time," he said in a self-deprecating tone thinking his words could kick Flora's senses but...

"Okay! Thanks for calling. Goodbye!" Flora then hung up leaving Larry dumbfounded.

He thought he underestimated this woman. Now, he was doomed. He had no choice but to accept a boring male assistant to work with him whoever the personnel department would pick up.

Meanwhile, Flora who was having her 'alone time' after a tiring day in a coffee shop was still flabbergasted.

"What if the offer is real?" she asked herself as she stared at her phone on the table.

"Forget it! That might be spam!" she shook her head and took a U-turn at once.

Chapter 2 Desperate

As days passed by, the head of the personnel hired a lot of applicants for the position but when it came to the final interview, they all failed. That's because Larry was the one conducting the final talks and he was not satisfied with the result.

He massaged his temple at the oval marble table in the conference room. He was on the brink of giving up.

When he scanned the hills of resumes in front of him again, his eyes were getting narrower and narrower.

"No!"

"Lack of experience!"

"Attitude problem!"

"No! No! No!"

"Huh! I give up!" Larry desperately slammed the resumes on the table as he leaned on the leather chair.

"Why is it harder to find a worker these days than to look for a job?" he thought to himself while rubbing his face with both of his palms.

He was about to stand up and report the result to Brandon when his phone rang. When he saw the caller, he felt like finally, he had seen the light at the end of the tunnel.

Larry cleared his throat first then answered his phone. "Hello!"

"Is this the assistant from Park Incorporated? You called me two days ago," Flora said while fidgeting. She was so desperate to have a job.

All of the companies she had applied for rejected her. They said either she was not fit for the position or she had no experience at all.

She couldn't blame these companies for they were right. Since she tried her luck in LA, she was stuck as Lynette's manager.

Her job experience as a celebrity manager was totally different from the occupation she was looking for.

She also tried to apply her ability in the entertainment world but they just said, she needed to wait, for the competition was very strong.

It didn't matter whether she was once with a Hollywood star or not. Backer was the most important thing and Flora lacked that subject.

Lynette offered her a job in Lee Group but she declined it. She said she didn't want to go back door and her friend respected her decision.

When Larry heard her voice, he smiled out of excitement and happily said, "Yes! It's me!"

"The thing is you offered me a job as an assistant two days ago. Is the position still available?" she anxiously asked praying it was not taken yet.

Larry, as a professional employee didn't go in haste in responding to her question. Instead, he took a step one by one.

"Well, we just had the final interview twenty minutes ago and we have already found a suitable person for the position!" he said while lifting his head a little and leaning on the chair.

"Oh! I am too late, then. Thank you for answering my call!" Flora humbly said.

But before she could even hang up, Larry's voice emerged again.

"Since you were our first choice, we can give you a second chance!" he sneered.

If Flora was just in front of him, she could tell the meaning of his smile.

"Really? Thank you!" Flora felt a lot of relief hearing that she could get the job if she would pass the interviews.

"Yes, Miss Adams. You have an interview today at two in the afternoon. Don't be late!" Larry then hung up. That fast! He was also desperate to finish the task Brandon had given him.

Meanwhile, in Flora's unit, she was stunned by Larry's last sentence. She ran hastily to her bathroom and fixed herself like there was no time to be wasted.

"Finally! I could pay for my rent next month!" she said giving herself confidence that she could pass the interview.

Flora lived in a studio-type high-rise condominium that was developed by Lee Group. Her cute little abode was composed of a small living room with a two-seater leather sofa that was already in the unit when she moved in. It had also a small dining table with just two chairs mounted on the rice cooker and oven cabinet.

Beside it was a small kitchen and a single sink.

Flora's bed was a double-deck and it was only covered by a dusty pink color curtain that served as its wall from the living room.

Her bathroom was also small and the terrace in the living room was good enough for a single side table and a chair and some plants, too.

Before the said time, Flora arrived at Park Incorporated. There were two Park Incorporated in Brent City.

One was Brandon's business and the other one was owned by another surname of Park but they were not related.

Brandon's company was more of textiles and fabric while the other one was all about perfumes.

As she walked towards the information desk, the receptionist looked at her with disdain. She couldn't be bothered at all. Her main focus was to get this job.

"Good afternoon! I have an interview at two o'clock in your company," she said politely as she smiled at the arrogant-looking receptionist.

"Interview? Which position?" she asked while raising her eyebrow.

"Assistant to the CEO I guess!" Flora replied which made the receptionist chuckle.

"Lady, our boss doesn't hire a female~

"Miss Adams!" suddenly the receptionist's voice was cut in by an authoritative tone.

"Sir!" Flora replied as she didn't know his name, yet.

Larry went towards her as he gave the receptionist a warn look which made the latter shiver.

"I am Larry Green, CEO Park's assistant. Please, follow me!" he politely led the way.

"I am Flora Adams! Nice to meet, you!" Flora replied as she followed him.

Larry just smiled and nodded at her.

The receptionist was dumbstruck by what she saw and heard. She was even curious now to who Flora was when Larry took her to Brandon's private lift.

"Is she CEO Park's new woman? No, it can't be!" she said but she also rejected her thoughts. All of Brandon's women had never tried to take his private lift yet without him accompanying them.

But today, it was Larry who accompanied Flora.

"Who is she?" the receptionist asked while her forehead crinkled and it forms some thin lines.

Chapter 3 Larry Is In Trouble

There was an eerie silence inside of the wide private lift.

Brandon's elevator was nothing but pure elegance. It had a tinted glass wall outlined with the shade of glittering yellow and dark black.

Flora could see the sceneries outside of the building in full view as the elevator went up.

"Wow!" she whispered while covering her mouth in amusement as she glanced around.

Larry saw her reaction and he found it adorable. The corner of his lips raised a bit while staring at her.

He was about to start a conversation when his phone rang. It was Brandon.

"Sir!" he answered.

"Yes, sir. I already found her ... I mean HIM! Him, sir, I already found him!" he staggered as he stressed those words to him.

When Flora heard him stammering, she also felt nervous. If Larry was talking to her future boss now, wouldn't she have the same reaction someday?

Larry noticed Flora's eyes squinted at him so he had to lower his voice, "Sir, his name is Adam!" he said while taking a sideglance in her direction.

"Yes, sir. We are on our way!" Larry uttered as he straightened his posture like he was talking to a general in the military. After hanging up, he took a deep sigh.

He then turned around and gave Flora a funny smile. "That's your future boss if you can make it to the final interview!"

"Ahuh! Okay, I got it," she just smiled back. She was still calm on the outside but deep inside, she already would like to run away.

"There seems to be a little problem here," she thought.

When they arrived on the thirtieth floor, Flora remained standing in the middle of the lift. Larry who went out first turned around and looked at her.

"Miss Adams, CEO Park doesn't like slow-walking employees!" he said while smiling gently at her.

Throughout, Larry gave her a beautiful impression of being an assistant. He was friendly, professional, and had the aura that could make people shrink on their spots at once. And these actions of him towards her were somewhat skeptical.

"Oh! Sorry, I am really nervous. How come I didn't take the initial interview anymore?" she asked while they were striding in a haste.

"We only based the initial interviews for applicants who don't have enough experience but you, you have gotten the package!" he explained while looking at her.

"I also don't have any experience being an assistant," she uttered while panting. They walked fast while they were speaking to each other. And it exhausted her a lot.

Suddenly, Larry halted. He let her take a deep breath for a moment by showing her a gesture of inhaling and exhaling.

Flora followed at once and when she felt better, Larry imparted her strength as Brandon's assistant.

"CEO Park most job is dealing with businesspeople and signing of multi-billion dollar contracts. You were a manager of a famous Hollywood star which means you have the charm to connect with people easily!"

Flora nodded upon realizing his statement. She smiled with satisfaction and her doubts disappeared in an instant. "It seems like being a celebrity manager isn't bad after all!" she thought.

When they arrived in front of Brandon's office, Larry told her to wait for a few minutes.

As he opened the door, she saw a glimpse of what was going on inside. Had she seen a woman sitting on a man's lap on the CEO's chair? She was facing him and her legs were spread on both sides of his legs. The hem of her miniskirt rolled up all the way to her thigh groin.

She gasped in shock. She suddenly thought of a boss- assistant peculiar relationship.

"Is she also an assistant?" she asked to herself.

At the same time, when Larry entered Brandon's office, he was no longer surprised by what he saw. As a matter of fact, this was already a 'decent scene' compared to some of the incidents he witnessed in the past.

Larry cleared his throat before catching their attention. "Sir, Mr. Adam is outside waiting for you?" he said.

He knew he would face the consequences of his lies but he already prepared for it.

The lovebirds who were busy tongue kissing got up at once.

The woman wiped the saliva on her face and fixed the hem of her skirt first before she turned around.

Brandon, on the other hand, zipped his pants while giving Larry a death stare.

Larry just bowed his head ignoring his anger.

"Hello, Larry! How are you today?" the woman gave him a wry smile.

"Hi, Dianne! I am good. Thanks for asking!" Larry replied without staring at her.

"What are you waiting for, bring HIM in?" Brandon roared in annoyance.

"Okay sir!" he replied as he slowly opened the door.

Based on Brandon's view, Larry was whispering something to someone behind the door but he couldn't see who was it. He narrowed his eyes waiting for the person to come.

Outside of the door, Flora was hesitant to continue her steps. She remained rooted on the floor and whatever Larry had said, it didn't register on her mind.

Both Brandon and Flora were waiting. As she slowly pushed the door they both exclaimed...in unison.

"Miss Bree!"

"Mr. Adam!"

When they saw each other, they were shocked like they had seen a ghost. Dianne was also watching them on the sofa. She squinted her eyes on Flora.

"Didn't Larry say, Mr. Adam? Is he a woman?" she mockingly asked while raising her eyebrow at her.

Brandon immediately rose from his seat while Flora turned around.

"Wait!" he roared which also made Dianne stunned.

"Are you my new assistant?" he asked in confusion. His brows furrowed forming lines on his glabella. But behind those confused looks was a feeling of excitement.

Flora took a deep sigh first before she answered. She slowly turned back to face Brandon.

"No, Mr. Park! I made a mistake. Goodbye!" she said in a haste and also left in a haste.

Larry was dumbfounded. He didn't expect this turn of events. He thought Flora would accept the job coz she was in need of money. He knew well he was doomed.

Before Brandon could react, a slam of the door woke up his senses.

"Larry!" he called his assistant at once.

"Sir! I will take full responsibility for everything!" he said while looking down.

Dianne was already smirking at him. "You know well that Brandon doesn't like a female assistant. What are you think~

"If you can't make her work here tomorrow, you are fired!"

Dianne wasn't able to finish her sentence. Brandon's unfamiliar statement sprang like a mushroom in the whole office.

"What?" Both Larry's and Dianne's jaws dropped at once. They were rendered speechless.
