"I just wanted to dance." She whispered as hot tear rolled down her cheeks. *** *** The last thing anyone wants is to be a dispensable member of the leading mafia family. Althea is terrified of essentially being sold off to a mafia boss, especially one as cruel as Diaz, but there's no saying no in her world. She convinces herself that she's going to escape. But from the moment she is drawn into Diaz's world, it quickly becomes apparent he owns her-down to her every breath. And despite her reluctance at being there, she can't help but like how it feels. Althea just might be falling for him, but is she just another prized possession "won" to a man who gets everything he wants...or is she more of a pawn in this dangerous game than she ever realized?

Chapter 1: Diaz Cartel

.

The smell of alcohol is thick, dancing and intertwining with the smoke of the cigarettes being exhaled out of the mouths of lustful men.

Dull neon lights illuminate the surroundings, crating a haze inside the club and making the atmosphere seem a different world once stepped inside. A group of men in expensive suits appear at the entrance, immediately greeted by the door girl in turn.

The beautiful ginger leads them to the VIP section where only two of them sit comfortably and a third stands to the side while the rest bow and leave the club as fast as they came.

A waitress approaches the table with glasses and bottles of fine alcohol that she serves with a smile and a bow before escaping the heavy stares of the group. The three men exude a dark aura but it is the man sitting in the middle who everyone tries to avoid.

The man has very handsome features that are obscured by a murderous stare perpetually lingering on his dark eyes, his hair is styled to the side leaving his forehead and his thick eyebrows exposed, and his neck sports intricate tattoos that might've looked cheap on anyone else but look elegant on his smooth skin. However, it is the tattoo on his right hand which calls for the attention of everyone.

A couple different tattoos cover his knuckles and fingers yet, it is only the crown on his index finger that matters. It symbolises his position as leader of the biggest mafia group in Danson, and second in Sangrid only to the Montenegro family. Everyone knows him or has heard about him, warned to fear his extreme mood changes. Diaz Cartel.

The lights go out leaving the stage completely dark while the DJ announces the beginning of the show. A group of men seating four tables down stand up and immediately run towards the sides of the extended stage trying to find the best place for the performance.

"Amateurs," says Diaz with disgust. "All this low class men salivating for the dancers are exactly the reason why it is such a great idea to own clubs like this. They will pay anything to get a taste of this ragged up dolls." Lucius rolls his eyes at the comment but doesn't say anything.

No point in correcting him when he is right.

"None of them up to your standards?" asks Lucius with a mocking smile. "I've heard that this one dancing next is special."

Diaz huffs before saying: "Come on, Lucius, you should know better than to trust someone that comes in here on their own accord."

"No, no, this next one has a big community of loyal followers that come to see her every performance and are willing to bid higher than anyone for her tonight."

"Yeah? And why is that?"

"Two reasons," Lucius says holding two fingers up. "She was a professional dancer before this," he puts one finger down. "And she is a virgin who is only debuting tonight."

Both men stay silent for a moment. Lucius looks at Diaz expectantly and the other can't help but notice his mouth opened slightly.

"This is why we had to come tonight. I would never take you to a cheap place like this without guarantee." After a minute of silence and staring, Lucius sighs in defeat. His little brother is too stubborn for his own good. "Ok, let's bet then. If this one performer catches your eye you will arrange for a movie night for me. With Jana," Lucius says with a huge smile and a wink.

Diaz could never understand what was it about Jana. She was absolutely beautiful, that was a well known fact that nobody could deny but seeing how whipped his brother and Lucius were for him only left him confused.

He understood the lust his men showed every time Jana decided she was too sleepy to wear anything to the kitchen but a robe, yet, he didn't understand why Lucius would put himself through all the misery of being in love with a married woman.

Lucius looks at Diaz expecting an answer. He is about to shake his head in annoyance when a thought pops in his head. "Deal! But if he doesn't you will have to take charge of all trading with Nathaniel."

"No fair! I will get killed by Nathaniel once he rages about you not being there!".

"Keeping my annoying brother away from his Jana for a night could end up with me in the same situation," Diaz rebuts with a cute pout.

After that the argument ends because Lucius can never deny anything from him when he pouts. As they hold hands to seal the deal the music gets slightly louder but so is the public around the stage.

Both men turn their heads to the stage where previously only the three women were moving around and are met by a blue light shining on the curtain.

Dear clients, please welcome onto the stage our new angel who just came into our family a couple months ago but has already stolen the hearts of many. The pure, innocent and ethereal Althea! The curtain opens revealing the most beautiful creature Diaz has ever seen.

She is wearing a white shirt adorned by a vest of diamond incrusted chains that clinks every time she sways her hips, along with a pair of black trousers and a pair of black patent leather shoes.

On her back she carries a pair of gold feathered wings which flutter slightly as she walks to the middle of the stage. Despite the wings looking so heavy, she walks with such grace it seems she is floating. The white lights reflect from the sparkles on her platinum blonde hair and her skin, drawing an ethereal picture. It's her.

"You should close your mouth, kid," someone shouts in Diaz's ear against the noise of cheering.

Diaz turns to look at his guard and hitman Ronan standing next to him. He closes his mouth annoyed at the fact that he didn't realise when he opened it and just points to his empty whiskey glass and the empty bottle in the middle of the table.

The older gets the message and scurries through the crowd to the bar. With a deep breath to bring himself back in control, he returns his gaze back to the stage and is left baffled. Althea is gliding across the stage with no difficulties, her body moving perfectly with the music never missing a beat and never looking tired. "Beautiful," He exhales in defeat.

"What was that, Diaz?" Lucius asks sliding closer to hear him.

With another sigh and a last look at the stage he says: "I want her." .

Chapter 2: Sold to him

"I want her."

Lucius is ready to say something smug but as he looks towards his boss he realises the way he is looking at the dancer on stage with intensity, so he opts to skip the teasing.

He nods at Diaz and starts walking straight towards the office in the back where he knows he will find the manager to settle a prize. Money doesn't matter in this case, he is sure Diaz will pay anything just to have the shiny new toy he just found.

The music reaches its peak and then suddenly fades out as do the lights, only leaving a beam of white light shining on a kneeling Althea in the centre of the extended stage. The three girls who have been waiting in the back walk towards the stage and start dancing around her, turning faster and faster until one of them tears the beautiful wings off of the angel on the floor and the lights go off.

And remember, Althea will be debuting tonight. If you want to have an exquisite time, please refer to our lovely Cherub who will take your bid. The announcement is overshadowed by the collective sigh that can be heard followed by a few calls for more and just as Diaz thinks the show is over a red light turns the stage on revealing the three girls gone, replaced by three men wearing black leather masquerade masks, leather shorts and chokers.

Although he isn't looking at the three dull men behind, all his attention is on the beautiful angel still kneeling in the centre of the stage who changed her ethereal white outfit for a devilish sinful one.

A pair of black tight shorts hug her plump ass like a second skin, making it look even more unreal, complete with fishnet tights that just make her legs look longer and a harness that goes from her waist to each of her legs.

For the upper part she is wearing a crop top short enough to leave her toned abdomen out, hold into place by another harness going from her chest to her neck turning into a choker. Her fluffy blonde hair is messy which gives her a sexier look but the true downfall are those sinful lips that could tempt anyone.

This time the dance routine has mostly floor moves showing Althea's insane flexibility and rhythm. By this time half the audience has a hard on or has already gone to the back rooms to take care of it and Diaz is no exception.

Every move Althea makes on the floor makes his pants feel tighter and more uncomfortable but it isn't until, while performing a very unholy split, she sticks her tongue to wet those lips that Diaz loses it.

He stands up to look for Lucius or Ronan when the routine finally ends, the lights get back to normal and the dancers go backstage.

"Here," Ronan says appearing out of nowhere with a new bottle of whiskey.

"Where's Lucius?"

"Did you ring?" He appears joking with a boxy smile. "Sorry, Diaz. It took me a while to convince mr. Bad breath over there," He points to an old man wearing a cheap looking suit and yellow sunglasses. "He didn't want to let go of their precious Althea."

"Did you get her?"

"Of course I did! Who do you take me for?" Lucius sprays some perfume and takes a mint to try and get rid of the disgusting smell. "I don't want to go near him ever again. I'm sure he hasn't brushed his teeth since-"

"Good," he says interrupting the whining of the older. "Now go and tell him I need his best room."

"Didn't you hear what I just said about him smelling like-"

"Now." Diaz's tone is serious which sends a shiver through both men. "Ronan," He orders. "Go fetch the kid and make sure everything is ready in the room."

"Yes, Boss." The two men dash to get what their Boss just asked in the fastest time possible. I can't wait to have have you, Althea.

The lights go off as a cue for them to go backstage. Althea stands up and rushes backstage just in time before the lights turn back on. She takes a deep breath and wipes some sweat off of her forehead while walking slowly to the changing rooms because her calves are killing her.

That last bit of the floor routine always makes her legs cramp no matter how many times she practices it and even if she's used to it already it still hurts.

As soon as she gets in the room she throws herself on a chair and closes her eyes. She doesn't want to do this, none of this, not anymore. She loves dancing but not like this. She hates the ever lingering smell of alcohol, smoke and sweat that sticks to her hair night after night. She hates the looks all this men have, ready to eat her whole.

She hates everything about her life but she knows there is nothing else for her after this. After she was kidnaped and forced into the life of a stripper, her old life and dreams died with the sun of that day.

"Go change into your debut outfit," orders one of the guards watching the door in a heavy Russian accent.

That is when her heart sinks to her feet. Althea had successfully forgotten what was meant to happen tonight and her blood runs ice cold. 'Seraph' was different from other strip clubs running on the backs of trafficked dancers, or that is what everyone said in the dorms.

The club likes to build a strong fan base for new dancers before auctioning them to the highest bidder in their debut day.

Time varies between dancers but one of the bouncers told him it takes longer for virgins since they are most likely to sell for a higher price the longer the fans have to wait.

"Hey! Althea!" The goon snaps his fingers in front of her face. "Go change now, you dumb fuck. The auction will start soon." It gave her nightmares.

Every night, she would dream of the night after her debut when she was no longer a virgin and an available option for the goons to pick her.

Chapter 3: give it your all

.

She hated the shivers that would run through her whole body every time she woke up to the screams of another victim of the violent fucks her co-workers had to endure when they were picked.

And later, she would spill tears after seeing the broken souls they left behind as if they were an object to be merely disposed of after using it.

To them the people living in those concrete dorms, Althea, were nothing but a body to sell and fuck. No. Fuck this life. I never asked for any of this.

"Clean yourself as much as possible, understood? I want you spotless when I come back." Althea is at a loss of words so she just nods.

She makes sure to keep the shower short but efficient as she washes herself twice, scrubbing her whole body and focusing on the parts any of the men touched.

The greasy feeling of their rough touch still prickles at Althea's skin as she is rushed out of the shower and into a new outfit that is much more high end than her debut outfit is supposed to be.

She is pushed to a chair where three more dancers take care of her hair, make up and nails as best as they can in the smallest time frame. She tries to ask the manager a couple times what is going on but she is hushed every time.

By the end of the fifteen minutes Althea is covered in silver glitter from head to toe, her hair is combed to the side in a messy fluff of blonde and every inch of her nails is clean.

One of the dancers is about to spray perfume on her but the manager stops her with a slap to the hand. "Don't, he has a very sensitive smell. Your cheap shit will cause him an allergy."

In the haze of the rush, Althea lost the opportunity to ask for an explanation.

She never heard of a debut day being this important. "Manager," calls Althea in a shy voice. "I thought the auction wasn't going to start but until eleven."

"Oh, my innocent Althea," he says in such a pitying voice it sends shivers through Althea's spine. " I am sorry but tonight the auction won't be taking place since someone already bought you. You really were my favourite." The surprised expression of the blonde must have been too much for the man because he keeps talking. "I'm afraid the man who paid for you tonight will be taking you home. This is our farewell my sweet and innocent Althea."

"What?"

"The man that paid for you tonight will be taking you home."

Everyone likes to think Althea is so pure and naive but she is not stupid. She knows exactly what those sound proof doors hide behind their velvety exterior. It makes her want to cry.

She never wanted anything more than to dance.

***

The inside of the room is quite boring, an unexpected view for Althea. It is her first time seeing anything past the velvet doors, she is not quite sure why she hoped for something a bit less mundane. Warm yellow light shines on the walls covered by a fading red wallpaper, there is only a double sized bed in the middle of the room and a small bed side table with a single bottle of whiskey and a glass. No mirrors, no art, nothing. It is just a regular room.

The man sitting on the bed looks intently at Althea sending a shiver down her every nerve and turning her muscles into stone. He is quite handsome with his sharp jawline and his toned body that shows even under a suit, nobody would dare to say he isn't attractive; his eyes are the one place Althea can't stop looking at.

Those big round eyes, full of excitement like a little kid's eyes would be but also they are cold and calculating. The duality throws Althea into confusion because she doesn't know what to expect.

It feels like her every move is being monitored, from her chest rising unevenly at the rhythm of her breathing to the vein in her neck expanding and contracting almost invisibly to let the blood flow. I just wanted to dance.

"I loved your dance, Althea" the man says with a raspy voice.

"You weren't the only one," She answers without thinking.

The second the words leave her lips, she regrets them. She opens her eyes in panic and stays quiet hoping this is just a bad dream or praying the man didn't hear it.

He lifts an eyebrow and looks at the blonde, amused. "Well, I suppose that is true. You gave quite a performance."

"Yeah." Her tone is cutting and she is not sure why but she can't control her need to defy her buyer.

Anyone sane would try to appease the threatening looking guy, try to speak sweetly and beg for mercy though Althea can't find the strength needed to pray anymore, exhausted from fear pooling in her stomach.

The need to fight takes over her again, fuelling his biting tongue.

"My name is Diaz," He says standing from the bed and grabbing Althea's chin forcing her to look at him. "What's yours, angel?".

"Althea, actually. Angel is the one with blue hair," She answers. "You might want to ask for her instead."

A chuckle escapes Diaz's lips, unamused. "You're a feisty one I see," he says grinning. "I don't dislike it however, you were also quite pricy. Your fans' bids kept increasing and I had to spend more than I was expecting to." Diaz snaps his fingers twice which makes the man who fetched him from the changing room move from his stand post by the door to get behind Althea.

She tries to turn her head to stay vigilant on both threats but the man holds her chin with more strength. Althea brings her hand up to slap the other's hand away and face the man who is standing behind her when she feels cold metal pressing against the back of her head.

She freezes, her hand midway in the air. "This is Ronan," introduces Diaz with a sweet smile.

Ronan gives the man a surprised look but doesn't say anything.

"He is ready to blow your brains out, so I wouldn't anger him." Diaz leaves a light kiss on Althea's soft cheek before sitting back on the bed. "This is how it's gonna work, Althea," says the brunette rolling the last word mockingly. A sly grin forms on his lips as he talks. "I have two hours before I have to go back to business and that means that you have that time to prove you're worth all the money I paid."

"What-what if-I can't?" Althea's voice breaks slightly due to the knot sitting comfortably in her throat. In a silent response the gun gets pushed harder against her skull. She gets the message loud and clear. Oh, right. He is here to to make me submit.

"I am sure you will give it your all tonight," answers Diaz The unmistakable sound of a bullet being pushed inside the chamber echoes in Althea's ear.

She just wanted to dance.
