Sold To A Vampire

It's sunrise already and time for my parents to give me off to the man that every lady would die to be with for just a day except ME!!.

His name is Darcy. Rumors has it that all his ex-wives, concubines and flings had all the luxury they had wanted. He is known as the devil himself as nobody has been able to beat him before. He is a VAMPIRE!!! The strongest I have ever heard of and Yes that scares the living hell out of me. My brother was killed by a vampire and when my dad tried to revenge his death, his powers were taken from him. Never would I have imagined that he would give me up so easily to the enemies that killed his only son.

I pleaded with my dad the day before but, he insisted that he has no choice. "We come from a line of ancestral witches", says my dad but I never had any power or traits linked to a witch. According to my dad Darcy has promised to give him back his power and of course give him and his coven an old cemetery to practice their witchy stuff plus, their daughter will have the chance to choose whatever she wants once he gives her to him. They were chased out of this same cemetery by this same man. My dad said once he gets his power back that he will come for me. That's a lie. He knows I cannot escape. No one has before. He is probably getting rid of me because I do not possess the traits of a witch. Don't get me wrong, I tried to cast some spells but none is forthcoming. My mom says I need some time but my dad lacks patience.

Interrupted by my mom knocking, I ran and hugged her wetting her clothes with my tears "I don't want to go mummy ,I am too young for this please let me stay" I pleaded.

"It's alright my daughter, it's for the good of everybody besides you will soon be back and everybody will remember what you have sacrificed for this coven" my mom said wiping my tears with her hands.

I was about to say something when my dad walked in and said it was time to leave, I took my bag and left with him, I overheard my mom sobbing silently. In front of the gate, stood Mark, my human friend and childhood lover, he hugged and bade me farewell. He does not know where I am going to but I told him that I was going to stay with a distant relative. I have crushed on Mark since I was a kid and I hope to marry him but that will be when I come back from this horrible journey.

On the way, my dad was just silent all through and I did not bother to say anything to him. We drove until we arrived at the big iron gate in a very secluded area. The gate alone scares me as it looks like one that once you cross it, you cannot escape anymore. A man which I assumed was the gateman and a vampire stopped us and told my dad to leave me at the gate as he is not allowed to enter. My dad did not even hesitate and as he turned to leave, I called out to him and he just looked back at me and left almost immediately. I stood for some time before turning to the man for him to help with my bag "carry your bag and follow me" he said and left immediately.

Surprised on why he did not help, I took my bag and followed him. We walked for a long time before getting to a duplex. I was about to say hope this is not the almighty Darcy's house before he cut me short and said I should go inside and settle in as this is my quarters and where I will stay till my presence is needed, he turned and left" well good riddance" I said and walked in.

The place is magnificent. I have never seen a duplex this big with many rooms and a big living room, plus all this for me alone. I was a little bit relieved but I have to be careful as "not all that glitters are gold". I chose the smallest room and took my bath before taking a nap. Later that evening I was woken up by a servant who served me some meal as dinner and left almost immediately like she was scared of me before I could ask where Darcy was.

We are supposed to be getting acquainted until the wedding which is a month away from now. He was even the one that suggested that I come and stay for a month to get used to the environment. Well, at least I would be free for a while and prepare my mind for what is to come next.

It has been 3 weeks since I arrived here and I have been in this room without stepping out. Same routine every single day. I haven't seen Darcy and as a matter of fact I do not even know of his looks, just rumors here and there. I have tried talking to one of the servants and none of them replied me. I am bored and tired and decided to take a stroll to see if I could locate the main building after all I am the soon to be wife of the house.

I have been rounding the same garden for a while and don't understand why I keep coming back to the same spot. Something is wrong and what is happening. I tried to concentrate but I kept on ending up on the same spot and I was already panicking as I don't even know how to get back to my quarters and then I decided to sit under a big tree and wait until someone finds me or when a servant passes by.

It's dark already and I am already scared because nobody has passed and I don't think the servants will realize anything, I got up and tried again but still ended up at the same spot. I can't see anything because everywhere is dark and that was when I bumped into somebody.

"You are not a witch" I heard the person say.

You are not a witch, oh my brother will be so pissed if he finds out" the man said whilst chuckling and giving me a creepy look.

Who are you? I asked "well, let us say I am the second son of my father even though Darcy is older than me with just 4 minutes, Ironic isn't it?" he replied helping me to stand. "you are Lucian his twin brother" I said. "Well at least you know me but, back to business my brother wants to marry a witch and you are not one, do you care to explain?" Lucian asked. "I am a witch I just haven't started all the witches stuff but I will as soon as I turn 18" I said "Hmm and when is that?" He asked "Next month but please take me back to my quarters" I pleaded as I was getting scared. "What makes you think that I will help you? You see this was set up by my brother to test your capabilities and you have failed woefully, once he finds out, you are as good as a dead person.

"So, tell me why I should help you?" Lucian asked with a smug look on his face whilst thinking of how disappointed his brother would be and then ends up killing her, which will now give him the opportunity to take over the throne. "I am sure you don't want an innocent girl to die in the hands of your brother plus I will owe you one and promise to make it up to you" I shakenly replied. Lucian glanced at his wristwatch for a second and asked me to follow him, we had just taken a few steps and I sighted my quarters." What sort of sorcery is this? I asked him. "One that was very easy if you were truly a witch" he said and left almost immediately. I have never seen my dad practice so I don't know what and what a witch can do as I was just tested then to bring a dead rose to life. I entered my room and saw a long, shiny dinner gown on my bed with a note stating "be ready by 10pm". So much for having a stressful day, now I have to go out with him. I had only slept for a few hours when a maiden woke me up and said it was time to get ready.

I took my bath, ate some fruits and started preparing. The maiden just stood there watching my littlest move, after putting my hair in a messy bun I turned to give her a look that means if it was okay but she left.

A man walked in few minutes later and asked me to follow him. We have walked for a while and my feet was beginning to hurt. I didn't know the main building was this far and just as I was about to ask how much longer are we from the main building, I saw a mighty castle that I have never seen in my life before. I thought it would have just been a bigger building like our house but this was like 10 times bigger than it. Every inch was shining. How many people cleans this place I was still engrossed in my view when someone cleared a throat behind me and I turned and saw another man.

"I am Sebastian the chief butler, please follow me my lady" he said extending his arm for me to join him. I followed him and we arrived at a big dining hall. There was a long table with about 18 seats. He gestured me to sit at one and said others will join later. Not too long after he left, two ladies walked in and sat, giving me a creepy look, I greeted them but they ignored me.

I overheard one of them saying this one wouldn't last; she is too young and fragile. I ignored them and was curious to meet the almighty Darcy. Few minutes later, everywhere was filled up remaining four seats. Lucian walked in dragging a lady that was about the same age with me and before I could exchange pleasantries with Lucian, the girl he dragged in said" don't tell me I am being disturbed because of this weak slut" "Mind your words Amelia" I heard another voice and saw a woman that looked exactly like Lucian. She looked at me and said "don't be upset my daughter has anger issues". Everywhere became quiet and Lucian started laughing out loud. "We are here to welcome the newest bride of the family and the so called husband is no where to be found" said Lucian "Sit down Lucian he will join us shortly" said his mother and then she turned to me

" I am Esther and this is Lucian and Amelia, Lucian is my second son and Amelia is my third child and only daughter. The rest are just Darcy's concubines and of course you know the king is sick and can't come" she said like it was nothing. "King? I asked surprised. "Oh don't tell me you didn't know he was sick" asked Amelia with a sarcastic face. "I didn't even know that there was a king" I said to her "No wonder the big castle and many servants" I said in my mind. Everyone had a surprised look on their faces except Lucian who had a satisfied look. Just then, the silence was broken by a deep voice who asked "from what dungeon are you coming from that you do not know your king"

I turned and saw a man with a very long coat, I knew immediately it was Darcy because he had a striking resemblance with Lucian except, he was taller, bigger and looked dashingly handsome. "Stop drooling and give me an answer immediately" he said with a stern voice. "I am from the east side of Wimbledon, the Ashen veil clan but my mother is from the Ravenwood clan" I said ashamed that I was caught off guard. "What nonsense!! who made this arrangement? He said angrily "I did brother" Lucian answered with a satisfied look and before he could say another word he was pinned on the wall by Darcy

"you know how much I hate the people from the east side yet you dare to bring me one as a bride. What abomination....."

"Stop it both of you and settle down" the queen said interrupting him "There is nothing to settle down for, this cannot work, send her back immediately" Darcy said I was almost heaving a sigh of relief when the queen added

"she is not going anywhere, she already passed the test and she is up to the task". Now would have been the right time for me to say that I didn't pass it but something told me to keep quiet. "Well, suit yourself because I am not going to take her as a concubine not to talk of my wife" Darcy said and walked out.

It's finally the day of the ceremony, ever since the night of the dinner I have neither heard from Lucian nor his brother. Well, since I am here getting ready for the ceremony, I guess Darcy's wish wasn't granted.

A servant walked in and asked me to strip. I was still hesitating when she ordered the other servants to do that for me, then she ordered three of the servants to bath me. Once that was done, they began to dress me up and by the time they were done dressing me up I couldn't recognize myself anymore. I never knew I could look this pretty.

"Now, that is better than when you looked like one of those leeches, enjoy this while you can" the oldest servant said before ordering everyone to leave. What a twisted turn it took, I can't wait to get out of here.

Lost in my thoughts, Lucian walked in and said he is to escort me and I asked him where my father was and he said they are not coming.

"What!! Why?? It's my wedding day for crying out loud" I screamed trying as much as possible to hold my tears. "Turns out he was plotting against my brother who found out and has them under captives so hurry up no time to dilly dally" Lucian said. I didn't know what to feel because what if he finds out I was in on the plan, seems I will stay here a little longer and look for where he is keeping them and set them free before we run away together.

The hall was looking so ravishing just like my dream wedding except not with my dream man ,I could see his back and I felt the aura oozing out from him and when he turned, I froze for a moment lost in his eyes so bright like the sky , I am just noticing he has a very light blue eyes and his cheeks were chiseled to perfection. "Don't fall!! focus on what you are here for" I told myself.

The ceremony went so fast with him not even sparing me a glance and as soon as we finished saying our vows, he dashed out immediately without even kissing me, not like I expected much from him. A lot of people that I don't even know were gathered drinking and dancing and I just stood at a corner, lonely and can't wait for the day to end. Yeah this should be the worst wedding one could ask for.

"You look so ravishing and prettier than the rumors I have heard" I heard someone said from my back, it's a very pretty lady and I could sense her aura.

"I am Corlett a friend of the family" she said extending her hand out for a shake which I ignored.

"What a bad start off and don't be scared I won't bite" Corlett said

"I am Celeste and I am not scared just taking precautions" I replied.

"Already carrying your shoulders high, I see. well, enjoy it while it lasts, as soon, you will be disposed like the rest of them which won't be long since you look more fragile than the rest" She said.

Surprised by what she was talking about I asked what do you mean? "I see no one told you, well, I will do the honors, this night while consummating your marriage, you will die! as no one has ever been able to come out of that room, ask yourself why you have never heard about the rest of his so called wives" she said.

"I heard he divorced them" I added trying to convince myself that nothing is going to happen to me.

"Oh, my love those were all lies, however I will help you escape because I don't want to see another girl suffer in his hands anymore" she said with a sarcastic look

"How? I am not ready to leave here until I can free my family, he has held them as his captives" I said seeing more reasons why I should stay.

"So even your family lied to you poor soul, once you are led to his quarters at the left wing of the castle find a way to slip away from the guards, locate the underground stairs just behind his doors follow there and you will find yourself outside these big gates. Have a nice evening and you are welcome" she said and left. Lost in my thoughts on what to do before someone tapped me on my shoulders and it was Lucian.

"What are you thinking about little witch? He asked with an inquisitive look and what was Corlett saying to you now? "Nothing" I answered.

"Please do you know how your brother found out about my father's plan? I asked trying to push my lucks. "He sneaked into the castle and tried to poison my brother in his sleep" Lucian said. "Okay thanks" I said and walked out immediately.

Nonsense that's a lie my father can't sneak in I saw the gates myself, nobody can, not to talk of the fact that my dad can't even harm a fly, one thing for sure is that Lucian is lying to me meaning my family do not want me out of here so I have only one option and that is to escape.

It was getting dark already and the guests were leaving bit by bit except the vampires of course that their day had just began. A servant walked up to me and asked to follow her, it's time I told myself.

Reaching the left wing of the castle, I excused myself to make use of the lady's room. It's just a servant, I can take her out and head over to the underground stairs. I hid at the back of the door and screamed then she rushed in and I knocked her out with a mopping stick I picked up nearby.

I ran out immediately and reached for the stairs. I ran as fast as I could, the stairs were long and dark and when I finally reached the end of the stairs, I saw a long tunnel and moved immediately, getting to the end of the tunnel, was two tunnels at my left and right.

She didn't mention that I will have to take a left or right, what should I do? I asked myself terrified and tired already as I have been standing since morning. Since there is a right wing, I assumed that the right tunnel will lead me to that side so I took the left and increased my speed because by now I am sure they would have noticed my absence.

I was still running when I heard a loud scream not knowing where it was coming from. I kept on running, filled with the thoughts that someone might have already found me, I failed to realize that I was running right into where the sound is coming from. Right in front of me I saw someone being decapitated, I screamed so loud I didn't see who or what did that and before I could understand what I just saw, I fainted out of shock.
