Rosalyn Wright, the heir to a top-tier wealthy family, had been a lovesick fool for seven years. She finally decided to get a divorce. The next day, Rosalyn called her father. "Dad, you were right back then. Forbidden love doesn't bring happiness. I'm ready to divorce and come home to take over the family business." Her father paused for several seconds before responding. "Rosalyn, you cut ties with me to marry your foster brother Saul. Why the sudden change of heart?" Rosalyn's heart ached faintly. A bitter smirk crossed her lips. Chapter 1

Rosalyn Wright, the heir to a top-tier wealthy family, had been a lovesick fool for seven years. She finally decided to get a divorce.

The next day, Rosalyn called her father. "Dad, you were right back then. Forbidden love doesn't bring happiness. I'm ready to divorce and come home to take over the family business."

Her father paused for several seconds before responding. "Rosalyn, you cut ties with me to marry your foster brother Saul. Why the sudden change of heart?"

Rosalyn's heart ached faintly. A bitter smirk crossed her lips. "Because he got furious I broke his stuff. He doesn't love me. All these years, I was just fooling myself. Once the divorce process is done, I'll come home."

She hung up. Tears slid from the corners of her eyes.

In three years of marriage, Saul had only touched her once, during a drunken night of recklessness. After that, nothing.

Rosalyn had always thought the problem was hers. She even listened to someone's suggestion and got surgery to restore her virginity, just to please Saul.

That day, she held the surgery receipt in front of him, trampling her dignity. "Saul, if you want excitement, I can do it."

Rosalyn had sunk to rock bottom.

No matter how she tried to seduce him, using every trick she knew, he always pushed her away at the critical moment and retreated to his study.

A month ago, Rosalyn couldn't take it anymore. She felt like she was losing her mind. While Saul was out, she entered his study.

There, she found a hidden room with a bed. On it was a lifelike robot.

At first glance, its features resembled hers. But a prominent red mole on its chest told her it wasn't her.

It was Norene Smith, her best friend.

In that moment, Rosalyn nearly broke down. The husband she loved was in love with her friend.

She was just a stand-in.

Rosalyn slashed the robot in a frenzy and cried in their bedroom for a day and a night.

The next day, Saul returned and flew into a rage. The household staff stood in a line, silent.

Rosalyn stepped forward calmly. "I did it."

Saul's eyes held restrained anger. He didn't punish her directly but sent Margaret, the nanny who had raised her, to an asylum.

Rosalyn blocked their path, staring at Saul. "She's one of the few people I have left!"

His gaze was cold. "You touched the person I care about. I retaliated against someone you care about. It's fair."

Even the love letters she had written to Saul were burned one by one in front of her.

The usually gentle man lost his temper for the first time. "You can touch anyone or anything in this world, but not her."

Saul had once said those words to others, but back then, it was to protect Rosalyn.

Now, he was warning her to protect another woman.

Rosalyn collapsed to the floor, her eyes full of despair. "Even if it's just a robot?"

Saul's gaze was unwavering. "Yes."

She sobbed uncontrollably, demanding, "If you love her so much, why did you marry me?"

Saul's expression grew complicated. He grabbed his suit jacket from the sofa, ready to leave.

Rosalyn clutched his sleeve, stubborn. "Tell me why."

He paused, his eyes narrowing. "Three years ago, she left. You were the closest thing to her."

His words stabbed into Rosalyn's heart like a sharp knife.

Saul was the Wright family's adopted son. They had grown up together.

When Rosalyn was eighteen, she followed him around constantly. "Saul, I like you. Will you marry me one day?"

Everyone in their social circle said she had no shame chasing him.

She pursued him for four years, but Saul remained indifferent. Then, on the day the Wright family was set to move abroad, Saul texted her. "Rosalyn, let's get married!"

For that, Rosalyn refused to leave the country. She insisted on marrying Saul, even falling out with her family.

Friends and relatives tried to dissuade her.

They said Saul was just an adopted son with no power or wealth. She would suffer with him.

With the Wright family's status and her beauty, she could find someone better.

Rosalyn ignored them all. She rented out the biggest drone display in Willowhaven to confess her love, showing her determination.

Back then, she thought Saul was moved by her. Now she realized she was just a substitute.

She could accept that Saul didn't love her, but she couldn't be someone else's shadow. A month ago, she made him sign a divorce agreement.

He was in a rush to go abroad and didn't read the papers.

A familiar, cold voice snapped Rosalyn out of her thoughts. "Norene got divorced and came back to the country. She has nowhere to stay, so I told her to move in here."

Rosalyn wiped the tears from her face and turned to look at him.

Saul stood in a sharp suit, his striking features and captivating eyes drawing attention.

She took a deep breath and met his gaze. "What if I don't agree?"

His brows furrowed slightly, his tone icy and firm. "Rosalyn, I'm not asking for your permission."

Chapter 2

Rosalyn had been infatuated with Saul for four years before their three-year marriage.

Only now did she feel she truly understood him.

Saul was utterly heartless.

Any lingering hope she had for him shattered completely in that moment.

She suppressed her sorrow and forced a bright smile as she looked at him. "Fine. Let her move in."

She was ready to leave anyway. Whoever lived in this house no longer mattered to her.

Saul gave a soft hum and walked away.

At the same time, Rosalyn's phone pinged with a notification.

The subject line read, "Young Wealthy Ace Lawyer vs. Glamorous Mysterious Widow."

Below were photos of two people, only their backs visible. Rosalyn recognized them instantly.

It was Saul and Norene.

The accompanying text described Norene's identity. She had married a wealthy man abroad, but he was abusive.

Saul had taken her case, not only securing her divorce but also winning half of her ex-husband's fortune.

Rosalyn let out a cold laugh.

A month ago, Saul had mentioned going abroad for a case. He never said it was for Norene.

Saul hadn't studied law originally; his field was finance.

Three years ago, for reasons unknown, he switched careers. He studied relentlessly and earned his law license in just a year.

The next year, he became a legend in the legal world, dubbed the "Undefeated Lawyer."

Rosalyn had never understood why he changed paths until she asked him once.

He had stared out the window, his voice bitter. "For someone."

Back then, she didn't grasp what he meant. Now, it was crystal clear.

Suddenly, tears welled in Rosalyn's eyes as she laughed.

Even knowing Norene was married, Saul had tirelessly paved the way for her future.

Rosalyn murmured inwardly, "Fine, Saul. If you love her that much, I'll step aside."

That evening, Norene moved in, her belongings arriving box after box, as if she planned to stay for good.

Saul, who rarely came home, returned that night and even cooked a full spread of dishes himself.

Three months earlier, Saul, who had always avoided the kitchen, enrolled in a cooking class. Rosalyn had found it odd at the time.

Now she realized he had been preparing for Norene's return.

Seeing the man she loved for so long go to such lengths for another woman, Rosalyn's heart ached despite herself.

The staff offered to help, but Saul dismissed them, saying it wasn't needed.

A man once so particular about cleanliness was now cooking for love.

In that moment, Rosalyn saw how vast the difference was between being loved and unloved.

Soon, the meal was ready, and everyone sat down.

Norene, as always, kept serving Rosalyn food, acting like they were the closest of friends. "Rosalyn, Saul made all this. You probably don't get to enjoy his cooking often. You're lucky I'm here. Eat up!"

Norene wasn't even pretending anymore.

Rosalyn recalled their childhood. Norene often came over to play, but only when Saul was around.

She used to think Norene saw Saul as an older brother since she didn't have one.

Now Rosalyn realized how foolish she had been.

She pushed Norene's offerings away, keeping her tone barely polite. "Thanks, but no."

Norene's eyes welled up, her voice pitiful. "Rosalyn, are you upset? Do you not want me living here? I thought we were best friends. If you hate me, I'll move out tonight. But the lawsuit? I begged Saul to take it. If you're mad, blame me, not him."

Before Rosalyn could respond, Saul frowned and snapped, "Rosalyn, if you're upset, take it up with me. Norene's always seen you as her best friend. No need to give her attitude."

Best friend?

What kind of best friend tried to steal her husband?

Rosalyn was done arguing with them. She spoke calmly. "I'm allergic to fish. Did you forget?"

Chapter 3

Rosalyn's words left the room steeped in awkward silence.

Her husband had cooked an entire meal, yet not one dish was safe for her to eat.

Her so-called best friend didn't even remember her seafood allergy.

If either of them had cared about her even a little, they wouldn't have forgotten.

Saul's voice was low as he spoke. "I'm sorry. I didn't know you were allergic to seafood."

Rosalyn gave a faint, bitter smile. "It's fine."

She had already decided to leave. Whether he remembered didn't matter anymore.

With little on the table she could eat, Rosalyn went to the kitchen and cooked herself some noodles.

During the meal, Saul peeled shrimp for Norene, dipping them in sauce, unwilling to let her do it herself.

Rosalyn recalled their first year together, when they went out with friends.

She had playfully asked Saul to peel shrimp for her, but he had replied coldly, "If you don't want to peel them, don't eat."

Shrimp was the only seafood Rosalyn wasn't allergic to.

After that, she never ate it again.

As a child, her father used to peel them for her. As an adult, with no one willing to do it, she simply stopped.

Now she understood. It wasn't that Saul couldn't peel shrimp. He just didn't want to do it for her.

After dinner, Rosalyn started to head upstairs, but Norene stopped her, insisting on making coffee for everyone.

As Norene carried a pot of boiling water, she stumbled, and the scalding liquid splashed toward Rosalyn.

Saul was right beside them.

In that critical moment, he pulled Norene into his arms, his eyes filled with unmistakable concern. "Norene, are you burned?"

Norene's eyes teared up as she pointed to her slightly reddened arm. "My fingers got splashed."

Panic crossed Saul's face. He scooped Norene up and rushed her to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Rosalyn sat on the floor, her arm and thigh blistered and raw from the boiling water.

She was his wife. She was the one who needed a hospital. But Saul didn't care.

Later, Rosalyn bandaged her wounds alone at home.

She told herself to remember this pain. Only pain this sharp would teach her a lesson.

At one in the morning, Saul returned with Norene. She came to Rosalyn's room alone.

"Rosalyn, I came to check on you," Norene said.

Without waiting for permission, she pushed the door open. "Rosalyn, I'm so sorry about tonight. Are your wounds okay? Let me see."

Rosalyn was already in pain and in a foul mood. Now, interrupted while trying to sleep, she snapped, "Norene, it's just us here. Stop pretending. Aren't you tired? Best friends, huh? I never thought the one to stab me in the back would be you."

When Norene's family faced bankruptcy years ago, Rosalyn had begged her father to help them survive.

She never imagined she had saved an ungrateful snake.

Seeing Rosalyn knew the truth, Norene dropped her act, her voice smug. "Rosalyn, we're not the same. You just have a rich dad. I don't rely on any man. They're just stepping stones for me. As for Saul, he's the one chasing me. If you can't keep your husband, that's on you. Don't pin it all on me."

Rosalyn found Norene's shamelessness astounding, dressing up her betrayal as something noble.

Before Rosalyn could respond, Norene leaned closer, taunting. "I also know you call Saul every night at ten. Want to know why he never picked up this past month? He was in my bed."

Her nails grazed Rosalyn's jaw as she smirked. "I heard you destroyed the robot I gave him? Thanks for that. If you hadn't, he wouldn't have come running to me abroad. My divorce wouldn't have happened so fast."

Rosalyn's eyes widened in shock.

That robot was a gift from Norene? They were beyond disgusting.

Seeing Rosalyn's furious expression, Norene laughed gleefully. "No need for that robot now. I'm back. You've had the title of Mrs. Wright for three years. Time to step aside."

Rosalyn's gaze turned icy. She slapped Norene hard, her voice sharp. "Norene, did you ever learn decency?"

Norene was stunned. "You dare hit me?"

"Hit you? I don't need to pick a special day for it. For a homewrecker like you, a slap is letting you off easy."

Before Rosalyn could say more, Saul walked in, his face darkening. "Norene was never the other woman. If anyone's the other woman here, it's you."
