'If you ask me, I would blame myself for it all. I brought this upon myself. Only if I was warned back then, things wouldn't be this way. But was I a fool?'
Crashing sounds pulled the woman laying in a pool of blood out of her thoughts. She was bleeding endlessly from her wounds that showed the white flesh as she had gotten them not too long ago.
"I asked you to keep shut all through the ball, keep shut. One simple order and yet you decided to fail. You fool!" A masculine voice barked at her, making her whimper gently.
A man walked towards her and grabbed her roughly from the ground pushing her back to the floor which had shattered glass on it.
"I'm so sorry Robert. I never meant to. I'm so sorry, please forgive me." Her weak voice begged for his mercy but he only let out a harsh sound like laughter, filled with mockery and disgust.
"Everything you have, you are, simply can not be enough to get the opportunity I got that night. I signed a fifteen billion dollar contract and it would be enough to buy you." Grabbing her arms harshly, he pushed her to another glass table in the room.
The force of her body hitting the glass made it shatter and pierce her skin brutally. A cry escaped her lips as she felt numerous tingles all over her nervous system that sent pain shooting through her whole body.
'I should have never married him. I was a fool. I was blind.'
"Look at me, dear Briella." Robert pulled her into his arms and trailed his hands down her neck. "Not only that sweetheart. You tried to escape from me. Again."
A scream escaped her bruised lips as she was pushed down, her face hitting the floor. "I guess you haven't learned your lesson yet Briella. When I tell you something. You do it."
'This isn't you Robert. This was never the man I married nor dated for ten good years.'
"What did I do wrong for you to despise me, Robert." Her voice came out forcefully as it cut through the groans of pain.
"You want to know why I despise you?" Robert threw his head back and laughed in mockery again.
He walked back to the only table in the room that was not shattered due to his cruelty and picked up a glass of a brownish-golden liquid before gulping it down and hazard tugging his tie loose and tossing it aside.
"Remember back then when we were both in high school." He began as he rolled up the sleeve of his shirt with a smirk that revealed his evil thoughts. "You left Aidan for me."
He walked to the wardrobe and pulled off his watch, then roughen his hair. He pulled out a particular belt that brielle had seen too many times to forget the use.
"You were a fool to do so." He turned and moved towards her with the belt in his hands. "I never loved you Briella. I never did. And I never will."
An ear-piercing scream was heard from the room in the large mansion as the belt landed on her face down to her chest.
"Does it hurt Briella?" The question mockingly left his mouth. He enjoyed the view before him, as it was his favourite thing. "Ahh. I forgot you're pregnant. You seem so strong and you haven't had a miscarriage by now."
"Don't think about doing anything funny to my child Robert." Her voice hardened as she forcefully pushed back the pain she was feeling all over her.
"Now you've become all feisty little beta. Haven't you Briella?" He snapped his fingers and the doors to the room opened and another lady walked in with a mischievous smile on her lips.
"Wow. This makes me overwhelmed darling." The lady chuckled as she looked down at Briella. She wrapped her arms around Robert's neck and gave him a quick kiss before looking back down at Briella.
"I feel so bad for you Briella." The lady gave a sad face before a wicked smirk appeared on her lips. "I used to admire you a lot back then Briella. How brave you were! How beautiful you were but not anymore."
'I was too foolish to see the fact that Robert didn't love me throughout our years together. I did everything. Everything!'
"What do you want to do this time Robert? You've beaten me up. You've forcefully used me in bed. What else is left?" brielle asked with her voice shaking slightly.
"You still have that voice to talk, don't you?" The belt landed on her again but this time, it landed on her stomach down to her lap making her groan in pain.
"Let her be a sweetheart. She would die soon anyways." The other lady laughed wickedly. "I can't wait for tomorrow's headlines. After a nice time with another man, she was found dead, after being beaten up by some men."
"That won't be captivating enough, we'll look for something better." Robert gulped another glass of alcohol before cleaning his lips. "Deal with her."
"Speak all you have left to say brielle because they would be your last." A needle pierced into her neck and she felt something flow through her veins.
Immediately, she could feel the deadly impact of the injected substance in her body.
"I just wish I could go back in time to change my horrible mistake....."
'Go back in time and change my horrible mistake'
'Go back in time and change my horrible mistake'
'Tick'
'Tick'
'Tick'
"Briella...brielle wakes up." A distant voice called.
"Briella...."
Brielle eyes fluttered open and she immediately shut them as the bright lights obstructed her vision.
"brielle are you okay?"
brielle opened her eyes again and turned her head. 'A basketball field? Where am I?'
brielle sat up and looked at the girl who looked just like her best friend when she was 17 years of age.
"What happened to me? Where am I?" brielle groaned as she touched the area where she was injected earlier.
"You're in school, Briella. OceanVille high school."
'Highschool? What the heck happened.'
"Oh my goodness your face is swollen." The girl gave her a mirror and as brielle looked at it, a shocked scream escaped her lips.
The "What's Wrong Brielle ?" Her best friend, Cassy raised her brows confused. Brielle looked like she just saw a ghost.
'What happened to me? Why do I look like my seventeen years old self again? Is this a dream or what? I remembered being injected and dying. Could it be . . . . . ?'
"Brielle , are you okay? Darius intentionally hit you with the ball." Cassy helped her clean the blood on her face.
'If I remembered well, a few years back, this was the day ore I decided to make the decision that changed my whole life. Maybe I was given a second chance like I asked to change my horrible mistake.'
Brielle looked around and saw the group of boys laughing at her. She stood up and walked towards the guy holding the basketball with a mocking expression on his face.
'This time around, I won't let any of you bully me. I have been given another chance to live and mend all my mistakes. My mistakes started from here where I let you all bully me.'
A slap landed on the guy's cheeks and everyone witnessing the scene was stunned. "Don't you ever mess with me, Darius? I never crossed your path so don't cross mine."
Everyone, including Cassy, was surprised. The girl who was bullied a few hours ago and incessantly cried out was now hitting one of the most popular kids in the school. She was the daughter of an alpha and so were all the popular kids and they made it their life mission to pick on those lower in rank.
"Brielle what did you do?" Cassy ran towards her and tried to pull her away but Brielle stood there looking at the guy who she just hit with fury in her eyes.
"Who the hell do you think you are Brielle ?! How dare you raise your filthy hand to hit me?!" He barked fiercely at her, raising his hands to hit her and she scoffed.
"You wouldn't dare. If your hands touch me, you'll know I'm not the same Brielle as before."
Everyone including the guy who was trying to hit her was stunned at her bravery. No one knew she could talk back to someone, not even one of the most popular kids who could make her life miserable immediately.
"Brielle please let's go." Cassy dragged her out of the field with all she could. She appreciated the fact that Brielle didn't try to fight back to return to the scene.
"Brielle , what's gotten into you? Do you know what would have happened to you back there?" Cassy yelled at Brielle whom she still thought made a foolish mistake by talking back at Darius.
"Let him do his worst. I don't care." Brielle walked away and Cassy stood there stunned. This wasn't the best friend she knew. Brielle seemed to have changed in a few minutes.
"Brielle ," Cassy called after her but she just ignored her.
Brielle walked into the hallways where some people were already whispering about her. The video of her hitting Darius had spread through the school like wildfire. Brielle didn't give a damn as she walked towards the locker room to change out of her basketball wear.
"Hold it right there bitch." Someone blocked her way and she looked up with pure disgust.
It was none other than Darius' girlfriend, Kira, and her minions. They used to disgust Brielle back then but she had no choice but to respect them as they demanded that. Kira did have a beta mother and luckily she turned out to be an alpha.
"When did you start growing a crown and a set of wings, you bitch? You had the guts to hit my boyfriend in front of people? Have you forgotten your place, you piece of trash?" Kira spat angrily and Brielle rolled her eyes, trying to walk away Kira pulled her hair to pull her back but she earned herself a kick in the face which made her leave the hair she was clutching immediately.
"Don't you dare touch me?" Brielle hissed before walking into the locker room.
'I've always waited for the day I would pay them back for all they've done to me. I knew the reason why I avoided fighting every time. I acted like a nerd till Robert asked me out. And since we were dating, he turned me into one of the fashion freak girls during our last year. If I'm not wrong, he's going to ask me out in two weeks.'
Brielle opened her locker after she changed and she was welcomed by her picture crossed with a red marker on the door. Everyone in the hall gasped as they saw the crossed mark on her picture. She heard her phone beep and she removed it from her pocket and read through the short message.
"You're next bitch."
Brielle scoffed, crumpling the picture before throwing it in the trash. "I don't have time for useless beings."
As soon as the bell rang for the end of the day, Cassy found her way to Brielle . Brielle was walking down the stairs towards the parking lot where her brother was waiting when Cassy stopped her.
"Brielle . I heard you got the red cross. What have you gotten yourself into Brielle ? You know they would make your life miserable. And you remember our promise. We should leave high school without making our lives miserable." Cassy was almost at the point of tears as she reminded her of the promise they made.
'This was what killed you, Cassy. You were too soft. You have a soft heart.'
"It's okay Cassandra. I won't let anything happen. I promise." Brielle smiled a little. "See you tomorrow Cassy."
Brielle walked towards the car she could recognize was her brother's. As soon as he stepped out of it, she ran to him and enveloped him in a warm hug.
"Bryan."
'After I got married to Robert back then, he was the cause of the death of my brothers and father. All my inheritance, he took it for himself.'
"What's wrong little sister? Did anyone bully you?" Bryan asked her with a worried look on his face but Brielle just shook her head and wiped her tears.
"I just missed you, Bryan. Let's go home." She smiled and walked into the car. Bryan stood there, still confused but he entered the car anyway and drove out of the school.
Brielle was quiet all through the drive home. She was looking outside, appreciating the view she hadn't seen in years. Bryan wanted to ask her a question but he didn't.
Immediately they got home, Brielle stepped out of the car to go look for her mother who was inside the house. Bryan noticed something seemed wrong but as he did earlier, he kept quiet. He just thought maybe she was missing their father's presence.
"Mother." Brielle threw herself into her mother's arms and tried her best not to cry but she couldn't help it. She had missed her a lot after all these years.
"Oh, sweetheart. What's wrong?" Her mother looked at her teary eyes and wiped them. "Did my baby get bullied again?"
"No." She smiled and hugged her mother again. "I just missed you."
"But you saw me this morning sweetheart." Her mother chuckled and patted her hair gently. "How was your first day of school dear? It's your last year in high school."
"First day was great, Mother." Brielle smiled sweetly and looked at Bryan who stood at the door with his hands in his pockets.
"I made something for you to eat before I go to work. Be a good girl and yeah, these are your cards. Your monthly allowance is there already." Her mother, Bethany kissed her cheeks before walking towards her room.
Brielle walked up the stairs to her room after her mother returned to hers. The room described her personality. The room wasn't really big but it was beautiful.
She had a quick shower and changed into a plain gown. Brielle looked into her wardrobe which had everything a nerd girl would have.
'To use my second chance well, I can't continue being a nerd. I have to change these things.'
In two minutes, all the clothes in the wardrobe were packed in a box and she picked up her phone and cards.
"Bro, can you please take me to the boutique? I need to get some clothes." Brielle walked down the stairs and Bryan who was watching TV looked at her with a raised brow.
"When did you start going to shop Ella?" He asked and she smiled before sitting at the dining table to eat the food her mother had prepared for her.
'Oh, how delicious this tastes. I've missed eating my mother's food. I missed her a lot back then when she died from cancer. I knew she had cancer for a long time but never told us about it. And I'm sure it was around this time she had that cancer.'
The spoon with Brielle dropped on the floor and Bryan looked at her alarmed. "What's wrong Ella?" He asked and she rushed into their mother's room.
'She had cancer around this time. And she went to the hospital a few days back if I'm not wrong and the doctor diagnosed her with cancer. The doctor didn't tell her she could still find a cure if she treated it quickly, which she later realized when she almost died.'
"What's wrong Bella?" Her mother frowned when she saw her enter her room. Brielle saw her put something under the pillow quickly as the door opened.
"Mother....."
"Let's go Brielle . You asked me to take you out and I have to go somewhere. Come on, let's go." Bryan pulled her out of the room and took her out of the house. "Ella, you know Mother doesn't like us entering her room just like that. She could get mad at you."
Brielle didn't say a thing. She just walked towards the car and pulled the door open when she caught sight of the house next to theirs.
'Aidan.'
Bryan looked at her line of sight and saw her looking at the house that has been standing there for four years after the last owners left. They were very close neighbours for years before they disappeared without saying goodbye or the reason.
'Back then when we got here, Aidan, my best friend used to live there. Although he was an alpha, he never treated me once like I was a beta at all.'
'Aidan and I started middle school together but he suddenly disappeared with his family after summer break four years ago. He had been my crush since the beginning of that summer break and I was going to tell him when they disappeared, without saying any goodbye. I cried and cried for days but nothing happened. They never came back to that house. If I'm not wrong, the agents would come to sell the house tomorrow and he'll arrive tomorrow.'
