She's My Girl

"Evelyn!" My brother, Evan, called.

"What's up?" I asked.

"I'm going to work and if you want to go out, don't forget to lock the door!"

"Okay, don't worry!" I said as I walked out from my room.

"Good. If something haopened.. please call me." I nodded and with that he left to work.

My name is Evelyn Holder and I'm 18 years old who just graduated from highschool. My mom passed away because of cancer 2 years ago and as for my dad, my mom left him years ago. I never knew the reasons why she left him but I'm guessing he's an evil man?

After my mom passed away, my brother has been working so hard to keep food on the table. I worked a lot of part time job too to help. He's older than me by 5 years and he's been working in one of big companies in America. He worked in finance team.

I wish I can help him more soon, I don't want him to work hard alone. Now, I'm working at a bookstore. I love it because I can enjoy while making money.

My phone rang and it's Jenny.

"Hey, where are you?" She asked as soon as I picked up the phone.

"Come here now!" I heard Bella said.

"I'll be there in a few minutes." I ended the call. I walked into my room to grab my keys, purse and my notes and pen. I walked out from the house and locked it.

"There's the polar bear." Jenny hissed.

"Sorry, I was tired and need more sleep." I smiled and they glared at me.

"The bus is coming." Jenny said.

"Let's eat something after work." Bella said and she's the type to think about food hours before we will eat.

"I want korean food." Jenny said and Bella shook her head.

"We had it 2 days ago, let's eat something else."

"Okay you two, we will eat korean food tomorrow. How's that Jen?" I asked preventing the both of them from fighting.

"Ugh!" They liked to argue and will do it again everytime. The bus arrived and we got in. We have 6 stops before arriving at the library.

"I have Jason." Bella complained. Jason is her boyfriend, they just started dating about 5 months ago. He's a sweet guy but sometimes he's a little bit careless. Bella likes attention and she liks to get it from him but sometimes Jason ignored her without knowing. He likes her a lot and he's changing a lot for her.

As for Jenny, she just broke up with Dan a year ago. He chested on her. What an asshole?! Jenny moved on easily and she got over him so quickly. She's the type to fall in love slowy but move on really fast.

As for me, I've gad a boyfriend once when I'm in 10th grade. We dated for a year and he moved to London. He's a great guy and I'm lucky to be his first love. After he left, we never contact each other again and besides I'm not good with long distance relationship, especially when we don't know when we will meet again.

"What did he do?" Jennt asked.

"He played his games and ignored me."

"Hey.. try to understand. He's not like that everyday right?" Jenny said.

"Give him some time, maybe he's having a hard time." I patted her and she sighed nodding.

My brother suddenly called me and did I forget something? I picked up quickly.

"Hey Evan, what's up?"

"Evelyn, my company will have an event tonight and we all can bring our plus one so I want to bring you there with me. Dress up nicely and I'll pick you up at 6." He said and I turned my friends.

"A party?"

"Yeah, it's my company's anniversary. Please say yes, I don't want to.. go there alone." He begged.

"Fine, I'll come with you." Bella and Jenny looked at me with questioning eyes as my brother ended the call.

"What did he say?" Jenny asked.

"A party, I heard.." Bella smirked.

"Yeah, he wanted me to come with him to his company's party.. it's like an anniversary party."

"Oh gosh, who wouldn't want to go to Nielle's party? Do you know their one and only heir?" Bella asked and I shook my head.

"Why should I care about that?"

"You're not fun."

"It's Alexander Nielle, he's on the top of the list for the most successful CEO this year. He's handsome and-"

"Shut it, Bel." Jenny stopped her.

"Oh.. I have a good feeling tonight." Jenny said and Bella pushed her hand away.

"Last time you said that.. I tripped." Bella said and Jenny rolled her eyes.

"No.. not tonight. I have a good feeling for you, Ev."

"Only tonight?"

"Yes, tonight. Something good will happen, good energy, good everything.. I just can feel it!" Jenny and her sense. I laughed a little.

"Let's just go to work, shall we?" I said before going out from the bus. I walked to the library first and the both of them are arguing on the back.

I love my work place. It's peaceful, it's fun and I get to read my novels. I started to work when Jenny's words fill my head again.

Will tonight be my night?

"Do I look okay?" I asked my brother and he nodded.

"You look beautiful, Ev." He smiled and I let out a sigh of relieve.

"Really?" I looked at the mirror to check my outfit. I wore a short off shoulder blue dress. I curled my hair loosely and put some make up on. I slung my bag and put my phone there.

"Come on." He said and I followed him to grab a cab to go to the venue. The party will take place in a 5 star hotel. When we arrived and walked inside, I can't help but admiring the decorations and how luxurious the hotel is.

Not to mention that there's a lot of people here.

"You can go around and grab something light to eat. I'm going to find someone. Will you be okay?" Evan asked me as he looked around.

"Of course." I assured him. I walked towards the food and drink section. I ate them on the side and it's so delicious. Everything taste so good here, I took a sparkling drink and sipped it. I love the taste. I walked to the cake section and I tripped all of the sudden. I fell and I heard some people gasping.

"You!" My eyes widen when I realized that I spilled my sparkling water to his white shirt. Everyone around us turned their heads.

"Oh Alexander!" There's a girl who was worried and she patted the stain with tissues.

"I'm sorry." I said as I got up.

"Sorry?" He asked looking at me disbelief.

"I'm sorry." I repeated.

"You're so clumsy! You don't have eyes to see where you're walking?" He looked at me from head to toe. "What are you doing here anyway? Did you sneak in?" He added and that's when I looked around seeing other girls. They all wearing beautiful dresses when I'm just.. wearing a plain blue dreess.

"I'm so sorry." I apologized again.

"Sorry doesn't make the stain magically disappear.." He hissed and he glared at me hard.

"I'm sorry."

"Go! Before I make you pay for all of this!" He said and gestured me to go. I walked away and decided to walk outside. I can't control my emotions so I cried. I was mad, sad, furious and embarassed.

So that's Alexander Nielle that Bella mentioned. He's rude, an asshole and.. in the end of the day, I did spill my drink but he doesn't need to be an asshole for it. I messaged my brother, telling him that I'm not feeling well. I decided to take a cab and go hime. Tonight is not my night.

I decided to calm Jenny and Bella.

"Hey!" I yelled to them.

"What? What happened? Why is your voice?"

"I spilled my drink to Alexander." I sighed.

"What?" Bella gasped.

"See. I told you Bella always have false prediction!" Jenny said in a sarcastic tone.

"So what did he do to you?"

"He humiliated me in front of everyone and-"

"Gosh, you don't need to continue that. We hate him already." Bella hissed.

"Me too. Can't believe there's a guy like him out there." Jenny said in an angry tone.

"It's my fault too."

"Yes, we know but it doesn't mean that he can humulliate you in front of everyone." Bella said.

"It's okay, I want to go to sleep now." I ended the call.

"Tonight is not my night." I said to myself. My brother calle suddenly.

"Hello."

"Are you okay?" He asked with a hint of panicked.

"It's just that time of the month." I lied.

"Okay, rest well. I'll be home in 2 hours."

"Okay."

A month later..

Someone knocked on our door and I opened it. There's an old man and I looked at him suspiciously.

"Ev, who is-"

"Hello Evelyn and Evan." The old man greeted.

"Dad?" Evan asked and I turned to him. After all these years, my dad decided to appear? I took a step back.

"Evelyn."

"How can you decided to appear now?" I asked sadly.

"Come in, dad." Evan said.

"Come here, you two. Let me tell my reason why.. I disappeared. Evan hugged him while I kept looking st him confused.

"Come here, Evelyn." He gestured me to come sit next to him and I walked slowly towards gum.

"No need to be scare." He said and I turned to Evan but he was busy looking at him.

"Dad?" I asked.

"I have explaination, I swear.." He said and he looked at us both.

"Here's the thing, your grandfather and I built a company together but something went wrong. There were people who tried to hurt us. I wanted to protect you guys by sending you and your min away but every week I will always ask your mom to meet me and update about you guys. 2 years ago before your mom passed away, I visited her and met up with her a lot. I love your mom so much and when she passed, my heart broke." He said and then cried. I looked at him and the turned to Evan.

"It's okay." I whispered.

"I'm sorry that you had to live your lives struggling but now I'm back.. I'll never leave you guys again." He promised. "Evelyn, do you know the Velvet?" He asked.

"Yes, why?"

"Well.. that's ours." My jaw dropped. The Velvet is one of the biggest company and no wondered people wanted it.

"You're joking." Evan said.

"I'm not Evan, I'm going to hand it to you both. I want you to move too and I will teach your guys how to run the company.

"I will give you both everything that you want and all the things that I miss. I will spend time with you more."

"I don't need snything."

"I bet you need something, you can tell me and I'll buy it for you." He smiled and I nodded.

"I don't need anything else. We just want you." I said and Evan nodded.

"I'm going to meet my friend after this, do you wanna come?" He turned to us both.

"I think I'll pass for today, I have work to do." Evan said

"Where do you work now?"

"Ni-"

"Before I forgot, today my people will come to get all of your stuff. You're moving in with me tonight."

"Okay." I said and my brother agreed too.

"I miss you guys a lot."

"It's okay, dad. I would do the same thing too, if I was in your position." Evan saud.

"Evelyn, you're coming with me right?"

"Let's get you dress, let me make a call." He got up and dialed someone.

"Ready?"

"Let me get my phone first." I said and he nodded. I walked to my room to grab it and he saw my phone when I walked back

"I'll buy a new one for you."

"No, it's still working-"

"No buts." He smiled and I nodded. I'll just let him do his job as a dad especially when he missed a lot of our times together.

"Let's go."

"Bye, Evan." I hugged Evan.

"Bye, see you." He chuckled. I walked out with dad and he got a luxury car with a driver.

"Hop in, princess. From now on, you'll get a car and a driver too so you can go wherever you want."

"Okay."

"Let's go to the office." He told the driver.

"Sasha, this is my daughter, Evelyn. Please do whatever she wants and listen to everything she needs." My dad said to who I assumed the hair stylist.

"Hello Evelyn, I'm Sasha. I will be your hair stylist for today." She said and I smiled.

"Nice to meet you."

"You're already beautiful, we just need a little touch up, that's all." She grabbed my hand and pulled me away from my dad.

"I'll see you in a few hours, Ev. Sasha, call my secretary when she's done, I'll pick her up." My dad said and I nodded.

"Don't worry, Mr. Holder." Sasha said and she pulled me into a room. There's clothes, shoes, hair related tools, lots of make up and I turned to Sasha.

"You're going to love the makeover, but first.. do you have any.. request? For your hair.. or maybe make up?" She asked as she sat me down.

"Uhmm.. no.. I don't have anything I want."

"How about you trust me?" She said and I raised my eyebrows. A little skeptical with her because I never.. change. Let alone.. having a makeover.

"I like my hair long.. so please keep it long."

"I got you." She said and she made me wash my hair first. She told me that she's going to dye my hair black and gave me some bangs. Not only she changed my hair, she taught me how to do my make up. She gave me some products for my skincare too.

Then she started to make me try some outfits and she packed a me a lot of outfits too. I'm overwhelmed but enjoying it at the same time. It's been a while since I pampered myself.

"Do I really have to.. wear this?" I asked Sasha.

"You look great!" She said and I'm currently wearing a short black dress.

"Why should I dress like this?" I asked.

"We don't have much time, here!" She gave me my new bag that she already put my things in. She pulled me out from the shop and my dad's car already outside. She pushed me into the car and she joined me.

"Go to ANTH please." She said and the driver drove us to wherever the place she said.

"Here's your new phone." She said as she grabbed something from the black bag. She opened it for me and gave it to me.

"But I don't need-"

"Your dad made me give it to you or ese I'll be fired for not my job right." She said as she forced me to take it.

"Thank you."

"Oh we're here! Go to the restaurant on the 5th floor, someone will assist you, don't worry. Your dad will be waiting for you." She said as the car stopped. I got out from the car and walked into the building.

"You must be Ms. Evelyn Holder." I was greeted by a man in suit.

"Yes, I am."

"This way.." He led me to the lift and led me to the 5th floor. He then guided me to the restaurant where I saw my dad talking to two other person that I don't know. I walked up to my dad.

"Dad." I called and he turned to me.

"This is my daughter, Evelyn." He introduced me to them and I smiled widely. I didn't realize who they are at first but after seeing them closely.

"Evelyn, this is Roy Nielle and Alexander Nielle. Roy is my friend and Alexander is his son." I turned to Alex and looked at him in horror. I thought my eyes glitched but I was right.

"Evelyn." I introduced myself.

"You look a lot like your mother." Roy said and my dad gestured me to sit beside him facing Alexander. Alexander surprisingly smiled at me, it's either he doesn't recognize me or..

"What do you want to eat?" My dad asked.

"Just order me something good."

"Okay." He said and suddenly my phone rang. I excused myself to pick it up. It's Jenny.

"Hey Jen." I picked up.

"You're the daughter of.. Velvet?" She asked in her high tone.

"Yes."

"Why didn't you tell us?"

"I just found out about it myself. How did you know?" I asked confused.

"It's all over the news. You and your brother!" Bella bursted.

"Hey! How come you two are together?" I hissed.

"You look hot in that black dress, by the way." Bella giggled.

"What?"

"We need details tomorrow, you're still working right?" They asked.

"Of course! I'll see you tomorrow." I ended the call and I turned my body around to walk inside but Alexander stood there waiting for me. I raised my eyebrows looking at him.

"I'm Alex." He said as he put his hand in front of me.

"Evelyn."

"Have we met before?" He asked.

"Maybe we have." I smiled and walked past him. I got back inside and sat next to my dad.

"So Ev, what are you planning to take for college?" Roy asked.

"I'm going to help my dad and maybe after that I'll go to college." I said and Alex sat back on his seat.

"That's good. I'm jealous that you have a daughter." Roy said and my dad chuckled.

"Grateful."

"Maybe Alex can help her and teach her about the business world." Roy suggested.

"I can ask my brother."

"I think that's a great idea, I need your brother for now so I don't think Evan will have time. Hiw about you learn it from Alex first?" My dad asked.

"I can teach you." Alex said and I turned to him.

"That will be a great idea, she can start tomorrow. Alex is free tomorrow."

"I can't, I have a part time job." I said.

"Part time job?" Alex let out a chuckle but it felt like a mocking one.

"What's wrong with that?" I looked at him coldly.

"Nothing." He said flatly. Suddenly there's two people in suits approaching my dad and Roy. They both seemed friendly and our parents excused themselves to have a meeting on another table.

"Have we met before?" Alex asked again.

"We have."

"Where?"

"When I spilled my drink to you and you told me to go away." I said without any emotion and his face was priceless.
