Chapter two

I walked him to the swimming pool and his mum followed put smiling non-stop.

"This house has a new feeling son don't you think?"

"It the same as it always has been"He replied and I wondered if he was the same person I had talked to last night or this was how he truly is?

*Rude!*

His mum frowned and turned to me.

"I will be leaving soon but before that i am having a picnic at my house and I would like it if you guys come".

"I thought it a women gathering. what am I to do there?"

"It doesn't matter.I just want you to be out other than locked up in this house. You deserve your Emancipation"She said and he laughed.

"Am not a prisoner mum besides what am to do there in this condition?. I can't even sit on the picnic blanket with you guys it best you host it and Invite your friends over".

I watched him for a while and knew he considers himself useless because of the condition he was in.

"Alright".His mum said almost in tears.

"Son take care of her very well as she was the one who saved your life. She brought you to the hospital alive and I will forever be indebted to her and I hope you are too"She said and whispered in my ears

"Don't mind his words please try and make my son normal back again".

I knew she wanted a miracle but was my boss ready or better still ready to allow his miracle take place instead of condemning himself.

"Bye mum"He said his eyes facing the pool.

She walked away.

"Can't you bite your tongue at least for a while?I mean it your mum you are talking to like that?".I said upset I watched her cry out.

"Um excuse me?"He said facing me.

"May I remind you am your boss and you mind the way you talk to me?. Am grateful you saved my life but my family issues is none of your business. You work for me and not my mum so stop trying to be her savior and lastly if you still value your job you keep your suggestions and opinions to yourself and not me".

"Am sorry sir"

"You better be"He said and moved away.

"Um sir you asked for this"I said opening the big room door.

"Don't you knock?"He asked watching me.

"Am sorry"I immediately said my eyes closed.

"I hope you like what you had seen?"I heard him say.

*What sort of question was that I never knew he was shirtless?*

"Here is your shirt sir"I said walking away.

"Keep it on the bed will you?"He said and I opened my eyes.

I dropped it on the bed and was about leaving when I heard

"Wait!"He commanded.

"Sir?"I answered.

"Close that door and come cream me"He said giving me a smirk.

"What did you say?"

"Am sure I wasn't speaking Chinese when I said I want you to come cream my body"

"I can't do that Sir"

"Why not?. Are you not paid to do so? You are my personal maid and your duty is to take care of me not follow me about. You either cream my body or leave my house"

I thought about leaving the job for a while and I knew I would never get any better one. This man has got to get a taste of his own medicine if he doesn't know how to treat a woman I don't mind teaching him.

I closed the door and demanded for the cream.

"Be gentle okay"He said turning the wheelchair to his back.

He leaned over while I applied some cream on my hands and then I applied it on his back.

"Your hands are soft"He complimented.

I continued not muttering a word.

"Tell me is this your first time dressing a Man?"He asked shocking me.

"Yes"I replied softly.

"I see. I thought you had a lot of boyfriend's and you were used to it by now"

"I don't".I said biting my lips was he trying to call me a slut!

"Why?. You have such nice hands and men should be after you?"He asked and I stopped applying the cream.

"Am not comfortable with such questions sir"I said and he turned to face me.

"Cream here"He said starring at me.

"Why aren't you comfortable?"He asked starring at me and I looked away.

"Jane"He called softly noticing I was frowning.

"Sir"I answered.

My hands reaching his chest,he dragged me close making me sit on his laps.

"Am sorry I hurt you"He said and I couldn't mutter a word.

"It..it.. okay sir"I stammered.

"It not. You are hurt"

"Am okay"I said but my eyes failed me letting out tears from it.

"I will be fine"I said but he held my hands.

"You shouldn't be doing this. Quit this job and leave me alone. Am a monster and I don't need anyone's help. I want you to tell my mum you are fed up of me and you want to quit your job. I don't want anyone help. Am fine like this"

He said wiping my tears.

"What do you mean?"I asked and he made eye contact with me.

"Am tired of hurting people. My condition isn't making me act right. I just want to be left alone to die peacefully and watch everyone live happily while I still can"

"What are you planning on doing?"

"Nothing. Don't think I want to commit suicide. Nah I can't take such risk besides I met you"

I didn't understand what he meant until his lips was on mine.

I didn't know what to do. I closed my eyes and then I opened it and pushed him.

I stood up immediately.

"Stay away from me"I screamed and ran out.

*What does he take me for?*

*Who does he see me as?*

*Why did he disrespect me like that by kissing me without even asking?*

*I need to go*

I ran out to the garden crying my eyes out.

"Jake why are you so unlucky with women I mean you couldn't even express your feelings to her"

"She is so beautiful not to like and innocent too. I need to apologise to her"

I walked out of the house asking everyone for her but no one knew where she was.

It was getting late and I couldn't find her,I decided to try the garden and just there I heard a loud cry.

I walked to where I heard the cry and there I saw Jane crying her eyes out.

"Jane.."I called out.

She stared at me and wiped her tears.

"Am sorry"

"Let me be please"

"I can't do that"

"Why can't you?"

"I don't know. Am really confused about how I feel when am around you".

"Why did you kiss me?. Don't you have at least a little respect for me?. Who do you take me for?"

"I couldn't resist you"

"What do you mean by that?"

"I just can't explain how I feel around you. I desperately wanted your lips on mine"

"Without my permission"

"Am sorry"

"What am I to you?"

"What do you want to be to me?"

"I can't be your maid and still taste your lips"

"I didn't say I wanted you to do that. The kiss was just a mistake let consider it as that and probably let it slide I promise I won't try it again".

"Hmm" I said and got up.

"If you learn to behave I don't see why not?"

"I feel like am going to get punished for kissing you"

"When I think of a suitable punishment I will let you know"

"Relax I meant am transferring your room close to mine"

"Tell me how you had an accident?"

"Catherine let me devastated. I caught her in bed with my best friend"

"That irritating"

"And disgusting too. I planned on proposing to her and that was how I got blessed with her dirty deeds"

"She told me I wasn't a real man and that I was nothing to her".

"She considered me useless because I refused to satisfy her sexually".

"Strange things happen and at least for someone to be in love they don't need to follow the books. Meaning not every love story start with a first date"

"It best we don't walk on clouds"

"You sure?"He asked and I nodded.

"Alright. Friendship it is"He said and I smiled.

"It late already. Let go to bed"I suggested standing up.

"Yes. Um could you take me there?"He asked smiling.

"I don't mind doing so"I said and took him there.

"Could you help me to the bed?"He asked and I held his hands while he tried reaching for the bed.

We both fell on the bed and I on him.

I tried getting up releasing my lips from his but I was stuck.

He watched me for a while surprised as I was. He noticed I was struggling with my zip on his shirt and he tried helping out but still he couldn't.

He dragged me back to him and smiled on seeing my surprised face.

"I don't think the universe want us to be just friends"He whispered softly to my ears.

I couldn't believe I had a soft blush on my cheeks.

*I blushed on hearing that*

*Jane what wrong with you?*

"Please let me go"I begged.

"Your zip is stuck to my shirt"He said and smiled.

"Help me unstuck it"

"Why?. I like you this close"

The whole house was silent and it was not difficult to guess that the maids and the bodyguards were asleep.

I didn't mutter a word.

He held my hair shoving it to the back.

"I love to watch you blush"

*What does he mean?*

"Please let me go"I insisted and he smiled noticing my heart was beating fast as my body was close to his chest.

"Are you scared of me Jane?"He asked softly.

"No.."My words failing me.

I couldn't look him in the eye.

I wasn't scared of him,I was scared of loving him. I didn't want to wake up one-day and find out he was only using me to amuse himself and nothing more.

I didn't want my feelings getting betrayed and most importantly I wasn't sure about my feelings for him.

"You aren't saying anything"I heard him say.

"It best I say nothing".

"Hmm. Your silence kills me"He said and I looked up at him.

My finger on his lips.

"Please don't say that"

"You are making me say such"

"No"I said and he smiled.

"Alright. I won't say those words if you don't keep me wondering what you are thinking".

"Alright I won't keep quiet"I said and he smiled.

"Looks like you are sleeping with me tonight"He said and winked.

"Don't act naughty please"I said and he laughed.

"I won't. Am as holy as the Virgin Mary"

"Don't make me laugh"

"Sure I won't. I only want to see you blush"He said and I smiled.

"Goodnight love. Mind if I call you that?".

"Yes. We aren't dating".

"Technically we are. You are on me right now and am trying not to kiss you badly".

"Am sleeping. Good night".

"Wow that harsh".

"In Jesus name"

"Spiritual I see"He said and I closed my eyes.

"Father Lord we thank you for today and everything you have done in both our lives we say blessed be your name".

"Amen"

"We plead for mercy and we ask that you mercy us o Lord".

"Amen"

"We commit tomorrow into your hands and we shall sleep and wake up with good health in Jesus name".

"Amen".

"Sir! Sir Jake! Sir!"I heard waking up.

I tried getting up and my clothes were torn revealing my bra which I had on.

I turned searching for something to wear.

"You are up already"I heard and I dragged the bedsheets.

"Someone is knocking"I said my back facing him.

"Who?"

"I think it Mary"

"Alright. Could you help me with my wheel chair?"

"I can't".

"Why?"

"It embarrassing to say but my clothes got torn in the process of getting up"

"Oh"

"It real bad"

"Alright. You can have my clothes"He said and I turned to face him.

I watched him unbutton his clothes. He closed his eyes while I got dressed.

"Open" I said and he did.

"Help me out please"

I held him while he sat on the wheelchair.

I watched him use the gear on the wheelchair and moved away.

He unlocked the door and pushed it open.

"What Mary?"He asked.

"Mr Frank is here to see you"

"Alright".

He closed the door and faced me.

"I will go now".

I nodded and tidied up my hair,took my clothes and walked out.

"What took you long?"He asked.

"Just woke up"

"Alright"

"What up with the company?"

"Nothing much. Have really been busy you know?"He said sitting down.

"Busy? With what?"

"My company"He replied shocking me.

"You mean my company,Cousin"

"Sorry. Your company, it hard running it".

"How?"

"You won't understand. I mean you are stuck to a wheelchair all day how will you understand?"

"Excuse me?"

"Look Cousin to be real with you. You are kind of useless to us and the family.."

"That because am in a wheelchair"

"Yes and No. I run the company now and so I can't be coming here each time to give you update on my company".

"You seem to forget I made you a CEO there. That my company and it belongs to me".

"Correction it once belonged to you now it mine. You are acting as if I forced you to hand it over to me. You gave it to me on your own choice and I planned on owning that company till I die".

"You ungrateful devil".

"Am only doing you a favor here. You will remain a cripple and die a cripple it best you start planning for your funeral because after today I won't be here and yes I will stop sending money into your account to pay for this comfort you live in. It out of my company's money okay. Like the saying goes" No food for a lazy man".

I watched him walk out on me.

*Was this how I was paid back?*

*Frank was going to take my company away from me and I wouldn't do a thing about it*

*I hate my life and how I am stuck in this wheel chair*

"Hey look at the boss personal maid returning back to the maid's quarters at around 7am" Betty who I knew was troublesome remarked.

I ignored her and was about going in when she held my hands.

"Tell me how was it?"She asked smiling mischievously.

"How was what?"I asked confused.

"Did the boss satisfy you well even with his crippled legs?".

"Eww"

"Shut up. Don't act all holy, from what I heard crippled men are really good in bed".

"What sort of irritating question is this?"

"Just tell how it was. I mean you are even wearing his clothes,your hair is unkept you won't tell me you both just discussed all night".

I watched her in anger.

"Betty get out let me go in"I didn't want to cause trouble.

"Wow. She has got nerves"

"Meaning?"

"After your last night encounter with the boss you still have the egotistical attitude to ask me to get out".

"I only asked you to go"

"That your problem. By the time am done with you,you won't have the mouth to say anything".

She held me and pushed me to the floor and that was when a fight issued.

We were both rolling on the ground holding each other hairs and worse Betty wasn't ready to let me go.

She came at me hitting me hard non-stop. I cried out for help and help came as the bodyguards held her saving me.

"Leave me let me deal with her".

They took the both of us to Jake our boss and I knew I was getting fired today no matter what happens.

"I hope you both know that there is a rule in this house and you both broke that rule".

"We are sorry sir"We both chorused.

"Not sorry. Betty how dare you say such?".

"Am sorry sir but I only said what I thought was right".

"Your mentality disgusts me and that too you almost injured her today. That I can't tolerate, pack your belongings and leave my house".

"Sir Please"She begged but he turned a deaf ear to her.

"You have got five minutes to do that".

She walked out and came back with her belongings and the bodyguards escorted her out of the big mansion.

"And you"He said giving me a Stern look.

"Sir am sorry I didn't mean to get.."He interrupted me waving his hands.

"I didn't ask for details. I didn't expect you to react in this way but that okay the damages has been done already. Two days suspension, I don't want to see you around me for good two days you stay in the maid quarters and yes you are to do Betty's chores until I find a replacement for her".

"Sir!"

"Get out"His voice came at me.

I walked away angry and upset he didn't let me talk at the same time I blamed myself for getting into a fight with her.

God saved me from getting fired today who knows what would have happened.

"Isn't she the one who got Betty fired?"I heard as I walked through the maid quarters.

"Hey"I heard but I ignored.

"Stop there".

She walked close to me and held my hands.

"Can you see the nerves she has got?".

"Let me go"

"Go where? To the boss's room"

"What?"

"Don't act surprised. We all know you had a night with the boss".The other guy said walking close to me.

"Look I don't want trouble just let me go please".

"Or else?. You will get us all fired".

"I didn't ask Betty to get fired".

"You actually did. Anyways go do Betty's chores".

I had finished with Betty's chores and was going to the garden.

I walked passed some bodyguards and heard their conversation.

"Today is the end of the month and yet I haven't gotten paid".

"Yes. From what I heard he no longer owns his company".

"What! How did you know?"

"From what I heard the Boss Cousin says he isn't paying a dime to a Crippled Man".

"Who cares about that?. I only want to get paid"

"Yes. I ain't working for a crippled Man for free".

"Same here"

I ran to Jack's Room and caught him about to kill himself.

"Jack why?"I said pulling the ropes off his neck.

"I couldn't Jane. I don't want to live again"

"What about me?. You couldn't think of me for once".

He hugged me really tight.

"Am sorry"He cried out.

I wiped his tears and watched him stare closely at me.

"Can you tell me why you tried Killing yourself?"I asked him after a few minutes of silence.

"My cousin called me useless. He has my company now and that too I can't do a thing about it. Everything I have is gone.All gone".

"You have me"I told him and he smiled.

"You really think so?"He asked.

"Yes, I promise to stand by your side".

"Why?. You don't even love me"

I kept mute and he smiled.

"Exactly. Why did you save my life if you don't care about me?".

"For now I can't tell you anything".

"Hmm"

"All these doesn't give you a reason to try to kill yourself. Your mum, do you want her mourning?".

"My mum is better off without a Crippled Man"He said and it hurt me.

"You aren't crippled okay there is still a chance you could walk again".

"It will only take a miracle for that to happen".

"I don't mind asking God for a miracle".

"And if there is no chance am able to ?"

"It best to be positive and there's no harm in trying".

"Can I have your doctor's number?".

"I don't know Jane"He said and I knew he was getting scared of hoping.

"I don't know either"I said holding his hands.

"I want you to trust me. Will you?"I asked and He smiled.

"I trust you with my life".

"Thank you"I said and removed my hands from his.

"Here. Have his number"He said giving me a note.

"I will call him this night".

"Alright".

"You rest. Am leaving"I said and he held me tight.

"Please don't go"He begged.

I recalled he chased me out earlier without listening to me.

"Jane..."He called but I wasn't ready to talk to him.

"You are still upset right?"He asked and I just nodded.

"I didn't mean to upset you. I didn't like the fact that you got into a fight with her, I mean you could have gotten hurt".

"I only asked for a listening ear from you and you bluntly refused".

"Am sorry"He said still holding my hands.

I turned to face him.

"I will stay only for a bit".

"Thank you"He said smiling at me.

That night...

I woke up sneaking out of Jack's room and I walked up to the garden calling the doctor.

"Who is this?"Came his voice.

" Am calling on behalf of Mr Jack"

"And you are?"

"Am his personal maid".

"I see. Give the phone to your boss then".

"Sir he asked me to call you"

"And how am I to know?. Look there's no business with a maid and her boss doctor".

That sent a sharp pain to my chest reasons I didn't think I know.

*Was I getting used to being with My boss that I no longer know my place in his life?*

"Sir I didn't call you to get insulted I only called you because he asked me to call and I would like if you could help me out with his medical reports".

"Who do you think you are to raise your voice at me?".

"Am the girl that saved his life that day so yes I need to know".

"Hmm I can't reveal my patients reports".

"I think his mum would be in a better position to ask you instead".

"Keep calm. What do you want to know about his reports?"He asked and I could sense he was scared of Jack's Mum.

"Can he walk again?"

"Yes. There's a possibility that he could walk again at the same time there isn't. Why do you ask?".

"Personal reasons. What that possiblity?"I asked.

"Hmm he has to exercise his legs. Meaning he has to start trying to walk. He wasn't in much of a critical stage and I was sure by now his legs would have fully recovered".

"Be clear sir".

"I just went through his reports and there's a chance he would walk again but that if he is up to it".

"Meaning?"I asked.

"He would have to exercise those legs as they are weak not only that he also needs to try taking walking lessons. Within months we will see if there is any improvement".

"And what if there's no improvement".

"Then...am sorry he would be stuck In that wheel chair for the rest of his life".

"Hmm let try the treatment then".

"There is a huge risk to it".

"What that?".

"Mr Jack isn't in a fit position to try it".

"Why?".

"From the reports he has lost a kidney and it would really be dangerous involving him in a Strenuous activity like the exercise he is going to go through".

"What will happen if he goes through it?".

"His lifespan might reduce".

"What?"

"Yes that just the truth. If he still want to go through it he has to ask for a miracle from God".

I ended the call and I couldn't say a thing.

God what was I to do now?.

I couldn't sleep that night thinking of what to do. I made a silent prayer and closed my eyes.

Then a voice said to me

"You could donate your kidney"

I woke up immediately searching through for who had spoken to me. I concluded that it was a dream and then I realized it was a voice from the heavens.

I had gotten an answer and I have to act fast.

"My kidney was the only way to get Jack walking again. I was sure I could do anything for him especially to see him smiling even at the risk of losing my kidney".

"Doctor"I called.

"What? Am busy so please wrap whatever you want to say up".

"I am ready to donate my kidney to Mr Jack".

"Really?. That good news, I will see the both of you in my office by tomorrow".

"Yes sir"

"Hey, tomorrow I commence the operation so eat something light before coming and make sure he also do that".

"Yes doctor I will try".

"Alright. Good night".

"Night Sir"

I thanked God and at that point I realized there wasn't any money for the Operation.

I called Jack's mum and she promised to sponsor the Operation as long as her son would walk again.

She explained she knew about Frank's evil plans to steal Jack's company and she had tried to stop it from happening and it didn't work out.

I thanked God for helping me out with it.

I closed my eyes to rest for a bit and I had this dream;

In the dream, I watched Jack standing up,he walked close to me and dragged me close.

He stared at me his hands running through skin.

He watched me for a bit and smirked.

"I don't want to hurt you"

"What are you trying to do?"I asked a bit scared.

"Have you close"He responded.

"Let me go".

"Why?"

"I don't love you"I said and looked away.

"That a lie"

"What makes you think am lying?"I asked and his hands ran across my lips.

"You can't resist my touch".I watched his hands move slowly on my lips.

"You always want me close. Your heart skips at the sight of me, you always want to see my face,you strive to see me smile".

"You are ready to donate your kidney to me regardless of whether you will be fine or not".

"It my duty as a maid to care".

"A maid?. You know that not true, you don't act like a maid or do what maid's are meant to do. You care about me so much Jane. You are really in love with me".

"No am not"

"You are even dreaming of me now. You want me close and my lips on yours right now"He said and leaned close.

"Jack please..."

"Don't push me away Jane. You want me".

"I do and that hurts a lot".

"Why does it hurt?"He asked.

"Am not in your caliber,I don't fit in your life. Am a maid and how do you think I feel pushing the person I want close away from me. I can't handle watching you far from me when I want to be close to you. I can't handle it when your eyes are not on mine. I feel bad watching you stare elsewhere when am here, I don't feel happy when you are upset or sad. I want to be your first happiness and love too. I want to love you till I breathe my last breath.i want you to be my number one.i see you as someone I want to spend my time with, start my life journey with, wake up close too every morning,shower with love,kisses and hugs. Help you in the midst of your troubles, stand by you, be your strength and you mine. Hug tight and never let go, I want to feel your touch on my body and I want to feel you close to me but all this is just a dream that can't be a reality".

I woke up and realized I was in tears,it was morning already so I walked downstairs only to see Jake eating breakfast.

I thought about leaving the job for a while and I knew I would never get any better one. This man has got to get a taste of his own medicine if he doesn't know how to treat a woman I don't mind teaching him.

I closed the door and demanded for the cream.

"Be gentle okay"He said turning the wheelchair to his back.

He leaned over while I applied some cream on my hands and then I applied it on his back.

"Your hands are soft"He complimented.

I continued not muttering a word.

"Tell me is this your first time dressing a Man?"He asked shocking me.

"Yes"I replied softly.

"I see. I thought you had a lot of boyfriend's and you were used to it by now"

"I don't".I said biting my lips was he trying to call me a slut!

"Why?. You have such nice hands and men should be after you?"He asked and I stopped applying the cream.

"Am not comfortable with such questions sir"I said and he turned to face me.

"Cream here"He said starring at me.

"Why aren't you comfortable?"He asked starring at me and I looked away.

"Jane"He called softly noticing I was frowning.

"Sir"I answered.

My hands reaching his chest,he dragged me close making me sit on his laps.

"Am sorry I hurt you"He said and I couldn't mutter a word.

"It..it.. okay sir"I stammered.

"It not. You are hurt"

"Am okay"I said but my eyes failed me letting out tears from it.

"I will be fine"I said but he held my hands.

"You shouldn't be doing this. Quit this job and leave me alone. Am a monster and I don't need anyone's help. I want you to tell my mum you are fed up of me and you want to quit your job. I don't want anyone help. Am fine like this"

He said wiping my tears.

"What do you mean?"I asked and he made eye contact with me.

"Am tired of hurting people. My condition isn't making me act right. I just want to be left alone to die peacefully and watch everyone live happily while I still can"

"What are you planning on doing?"

"Nothing. Don't think I want to commit suicide. Nah I can't take such risk besides I met you"

I didn't understand what he meant until his lips was on mine.

I didn't know what to do. I closed my eyes and then I opened it and pushed him.

I stood up immediately.

"Stay away from me"I screamed and ran out.

*Why did he disrespect me like that by kissing me without even asking?*

*I need to go*

I ran out to the garden crying my eyes out.

"Jake why are you so unlucky with women I mean you couldn't even express your feelings to her"

"She is so beautiful not to like and innocent too. I need to apologise to her"

I walked out of the house asking everyone for her but no one knew where she was.

It was getting late and I couldn't find her,I decided to try the garden and just there I heard a loud cry.

I walked to where I heard the cry and there I saw Jane crying her eyes out.

"Jane.."I called out.

She stared at me and wiped her tears.

"Am sorry"

"Let me be please"

"I can't do that"

"Why can't you?"

"I don't know. Am really confused about how I feel when am around you".

"Why did you kiss me?. Don't you have at least a little respect for me?. Who do you take me for?"

"I couldn't resist you"

"What do you mean by that?"

"I just can't explain how I feel around you. I desperately wanted your lips on mine"

"Without my permission"

"Am sorry"

"What am I to you?"

"What do you want to be to me?"

"I can't be your maid and still taste your lips"

"I didn't say I wanted you to do that. The kiss was just a mistake let consider it as that and probably let it slide I promise I won't try it again".

"Hmm" I said and got up.

"It best considered that"

"Yes"I said and she smiled.

"Are we friends now?"I asked her watching her wipe her tears.

"If you learn to behave I don't see why not?"

"I feel like am going to get punished for kissing you"

"When I think of a suitable punishment I will let you know"

"Wow that serious"

"My virgin lips wasn't kept to get disvirgined in one night"

"I didn't know you haven't kissed anyone before. Again am sorry"

"I understand. Am forced to"

"Alright enough of bad things. Let talk about good things"

"I want your bedroom close to mine"

"What!"

"Relax I meant am transferring your room close to mine"

"You are my personal maid after all I want you close to me so any time I call you answer"

"Alright sir"

"Call me Jake, Jane"

"Jake? You are my boss"

"I don't like been called sir from you it makes me look old"

"Well, you make me feel like one anytime you call me sir"

"Thank you"I said holding her hands.

*I was happy he was improving*

"Tell me how you had an accident?"

"An ex I don't want to talk about"

"Catherine let me devastated. I caught her in bed with my best friend"

"That irritating"

"And disgusting too. I planned on proposing to her and that was how I got blessed with her dirty deeds"

"You sure?"He asked and I nodded.

"Alright. Friendship it is"He said and I smiled.

"It late already. Let go to bed"I suggested standing up.

"Yes. Um could you take me there?"He asked smiling.

"I don't mind doing so"I said and took him there.

"Could you help me to the bed?"He asked and I held his hands while he tried reaching for the bed.

We both fell on the bed and I on him.

I tried getting up releasing my lips from his but I was stuck.

He watched me for a while surprised as I was. He noticed I was struggling with my zip on his shirt and he tried helping out but still he couldn't.

He dragged me back to him and smiled on seeing my surprised face.

"I don't think the universe want us to be just friends"He whispered softly to my ears.

I couldn't believe I had a soft blush on my cheeks.

*I blushed on hearing that*

*Jane what wrong with you?*

"Please let me go"I begged.

"Your zip is stuck to my shirt"He said and smiled.

"Help me unstuck it"

"Why?. I like you this close"

The whole house was silent and it was not difficult to guess that the maids and the bodyguards were asleep.

I didn't mutter a word.

He held my hair shoving it to the back.

"I love to watch you blush"

*What does he mean?*

"Please let me go"I insisted and he smiled noticing my heart was beating fast as my body was close to his chest.

"Are you scared of me Jane?"He asked softly.

"No.."My words failing me.

I couldn't look him in the eye.

I wasn't scared of him,I was scared of loving him. I didn't want to wake up one-day and find out he was only using me to amuse himself and nothing more.

I didn't want my feelings getting betrayed and most importantly I wasn't sure about my feelings for him.

"You aren't saying anything"I heard him say.

"It best I say nothing".

"Hmm. Your silence kills me"He said and I looked up at him.

My finger on his lips.

"Please don't say that"

"You are making me say such"

"No"I said and he smiled.

"Alright. I won't say those words if you don't keep me wondering what you are thinking".

"Alright I won't keep quiet"I said and he smiled.

"Looks like you are sleeping with me tonight"He said and winked.

"Don't act naughty please"I said and he laughed.

"I won't. Am as holy as the Virgin Mary"

"Don't make me laugh"

"Sure I won't. I only want to see you blush"He said and I smiled.

"Goodnight love. Mind if I call you that?".

"Yes. We aren't dating".

"Technically we are. You are on me right now and am trying not to kiss you badly".

"Am sleeping. Good night".

"Wow that harsh".

"Spiritual I see"He said and I closed my eyes.

"Father Lord we thank you for today and everything you have done in both our lives we say blessed be your name".

"We plead for mercy and we ask that you mercy us o Lord".

"We commit tomorrow into your hands and we shall sleep and wake up with good health in Jesus name".

"Sir! Sir Jake! Sir!"I heard waking up.

I tried getting up and my clothes were torn revealing my bra which I had on.

I turned searching for something to wear.

"You are up already"I heard and I dragged the bedsheets.

"Someone is knocking"I said my back facing him.

"Who?"

"I think it Mary"

"Alright. Could you help me with my wheel chair?"

"I can't".

"Why?"

"It embarrassing to say but my clothes got torn in the process of getting up"

"Oh"

"It real bad"

"Alright. You can have my clothes"He said and I turned to face him.

I watched him unbutton his clothes. He closed his eyes while I got dressed.

"Open" I said and he did.

"Help me out please"

I held him while he sat on the wheelchair.

I watched him use the gear on the wheelchair and moved away.

He unlocked the door and pushed it open.

"What Mary?"He asked.

"Mr Frank is here to see you"

"Alright".

He closed the door and faced me.

"I will go now".

I nodded and tidied up my hair,took my clothes and walked out.

"What took you long?"He asked.

"Just woke up"

"Alright"

"What up with the company?"

"Nothing much. Have really been busy you know?"He said sitting down.

"Busy? With what?"

"My company"He replied shocking me.

"You mean my company,Cousin"

"Sorry. Your company, it hard running it".

"How?"

"You won't understand. I mean you are stuck to a wheelchair all day how will you understand?"

"Excuse me?"

"Look Cousin to be real with you. You are kind of useless to us and the family.."

"That because am in a wheelchair"

"Yes and No. I run the company now and so I can't be coming here each time to give you update on my company".

"You seem to forget I made you a CEO there. That my company and it belongs to me".

"Correction it once belonged to you now it mine. You are acting as if I forced you to hand it over to me. You gave it to me on your own choice and I planned on owning that company till I die".

"You ungrateful devil".

"Am only doing you a favor here. You will remain a cripple and die a cripple it best you start planning for your funeral because after today I won't be here and yes I will stop sending money into your account to pay for this comfort you live in. It out of my company's money okay. Like the saying goes" No food for a lazy man".

I watched him walk out on me.

*Frank was going to take my company away from me and I wouldn't do a thing about it*

*I hate my life and how I am stuck in this wheel chair*

"Hey look at the boss personal maid returning back to the maid's quarters at around 7am" Betty who I knew was troublesome remarked.

I ignored her and was about going in when she held my hands.

"Tell me how was it?"She asked smiling mischievously.

"How was what?"I asked confused.

"Did the boss satisfy you well even with his crippled legs?".

"Eww"

"Shut up. Don't act all holy, from what I heard crippled men are really good in bed".

"What sort of irritating question is this?"

"Just tell how it was. I mean you are even wearing his clothes,your hair is unkept you won't tell me you both just discussed all night".

I watched her in anger.

"Betty get out let me go in"I didn't want to cause trouble.

"Wow. She has got nerves"

"Meaning?"

"After your last night encounter with the boss you still have the egotistical attitude to ask me to get out".

"I only asked you to go"

"That your problem. By the time am done with you,you won't have the mouth to say anything".

She held me and pushed me to the floor and that was when a fight issued.

We were both rolling on the ground holding each other hairs and worse Betty wasn't ready to let me go.

She came at me hitting me hard non-stop. I cried out for help and help came as the bodyguards held her saving me.

"Leave me let me deal with her".

They took the both of us to Jake our boss and I knew I was getting fired today no matter what happens.

"I hope you both know that there is a rule in this house and you both broke that rule".

"We are sorry sir"We both chorused.

"Not sorry. Betty how dare you say such?".

"Am sorry sir but I only said what I thought was right".

"Your mentality disgusts me and that too you almost injured her today. That I can't tolerate, pack your belongings and leave my house".

"Sir Please"She begged but he turned a deaf ear to her.

"You have got five minutes to do that".

She walked out and came back with her belongings and the bodyguards escorted her out of the big mansion.

"And you"He said giving me a Stern look.

"Sir am sorry I didn't mean to get.."He interrupted me waving his hands.

"I didn't ask for details. I didn't expect you to react in this way but that okay the damages has been done already. Two days suspension, I don't want to see you around me for good two days you stay in the maid quarters and yes you are to do Betty's chores until I find a replacement for her".

"Sir!"

"Get out"His voice came at me.

I walked away angry and upset he didn't let me talk at the same time I blamed myself for getting into a fight with her.

God saved me from getting fired today who knows what would have happened.

"Isn't she the one who got Betty fired?"I heard as I walked through the maid quarters.

"Hey"I heard but I ignored.

"Stop there".

She walked close to me and held my hands.

"Can you see the nerves she has got?".

"Let me go"

"Go where? To the boss's room"

"What?"

"Don't act surprised. We all know you had a night with the boss".The other guy said walking close to me.

"Look I don't want trouble just let me go please".

"Or else?. You will get us all fired".

"I didn't ask Betty to get fired".

"You actually did. Anyways go do Betty's chores".

I had finished with Betty's chores and was going to the garden.

I walked passed some bodyguards and heard their conversation.

"Today is the end of the month and yet I haven't gotten paid".

"Yes. From what I heard he no longer owns his company".

"What! How did you know?"

"From what I heard the Boss Cousin says he isn't paying a dime to a Crippled Man".

"Who cares about that?. I only want to get paid"

"Yes. I ain't working for a crippled Man for free".

"Same here"

I ran to Jack's Room and caught him about to kill himself.

"Jack why?"I said pulling the ropes off his neck.

"I couldn't Jane. I don't want to live again"

"What about me?. You couldn't think of me for once".

He hugged me really tight.

"Am sorry"He cried out.

I wiped his tears and watched him stare closely at me.

"Can you tell me why you tried Killing yourself?"I asked him after a few minutes of silence.

"My cousin called me useless. He has my company now and that too I can't do a thing about it. Everything I have is gone.All gone".

"You have me"I told him and he smiled.

"You really think so?"He asked.

"Yes, I promise to stand by your side".

"Why?. You don't even love me"

I kept mute and he smiled.

"Exactly. Why did you save my life if you don't care about me?".

"For now I can't tell you anything".

"Hmm"

"All these doesn't give you a reason to try to kill yourself. Your mum, do you want her mourning?".

"My mum is better off without a Crippled Man"He said and it hurt me.

"You aren't crippled okay there is still a chance you could walk again".

"It will only take a miracle for that to happen".

"I don't mind asking God for a miracle".

"And if there is no chance am able to ?"

"It best to be positive and there's no harm in trying".

"Can I have your doctor's number?".

"I don't know Jane"He said and I knew he was getting scared of hoping.

"I don't know either"I said holding his hands.

"I want you to trust me. Will you?"I asked and He smiled.

"I trust you with my life".

"Thank you"I said and removed my hands from his.

"Here. Have his number"He said giving me a note.

"I will call him this night".

"Alright".

"You rest. Am leaving"I said and he held me tight.

"Please don't go"He begged.

I recalled he chased me out earlier without listening to me.

"Jane..."He called but I wasn't ready to talk to him.

"You are still upset right?"He asked and I just nodded.

"I didn't mean to upset you. I didn't like the fact that you got into a fight with her, I mean you could have gotten hurt".

"I only asked for a listening ear from you and you bluntly refused".

"Am sorry"He said still holding my hands.

I turned to face him.

"I will stay only for a bit".

"Thank you"He said smiling at me.

That night...

I woke up sneaking out of Jack's room and I walked up to the garden calling the doctor.

"Who is this?"Came his voice.

" Am calling on behalf of Mr Jack"

"And you are?"

"Am his personal maid".

"I see. Give the phone to your boss then".

"Sir he asked me to call you"

"And how am I to know?. Look there's no business with a maid and her boss doctor".

That sent a sharp pain to my chest reasons I didn't think I know.

"Sir I didn't call you to get insulted I only called you because he asked me to call and I would like if you could help me out with his medical reports".

"Who do you think you are to raise your voice at me?".

"Am the girl that saved his life that day so yes I need to know".

"Hmm I can't reveal my patients reports".

"I think his mum would be in a better position to ask you instead".

"Keep calm. What do you want to know about his reports?"He asked and I could sense he was scared of Jack's Mum.

"Can he walk again?"

"Yes. There's a possibility that he could walk again at the same time there isn't. Why do you ask?".

"Personal reasons. What that possiblity?"I asked.

"Hmm he has to exercise his legs. Meaning he has to start trying to walk. He wasn't in much of a critical stage and I was sure by now his legs would have fully recovered".

"Be clear sir".

"I just went through his reports and there's a chance he would walk again but that if he is up to it".

"Meaning?"I asked.

"He would have to exercise those legs as they are weak not only that he also needs to try taking walking lessons. Within months we will see if there is any improvement".

"And what if there's no improvement".

"Then...am sorry he would be stuck In that wheel chair for the rest of his life".

"Hmm let try the treatment then".

"There is a huge risk to it".

"What that?".

"Mr Jack isn't in a fit position to try it".

"Why?".

"From the reports he has lost a kidney and it would really be dangerous involving him in a Strenuous activity like the exercise he is going to go through".

"What will happen if he goes through it?".

"His lifespan might reduce".

"What?"

"Yes that just the truth. If he still want to go through it he has to ask for a miracle from God".

I ended the call and I couldn't say a thing.

God what was I to do now?.

I couldn't sleep that night thinking of what to do. I made a silent prayer and closed my eyes.

Then a voice said to me

"You could donate your kidney"

I woke up immediately searching through for who had spoken to me. I concluded that it was a dream and then I realized it was a voice from the heavens.

I had gotten an answer and I have to act fast.

"My kidney was the only way to get Jack walking again. I was sure I could do anything for him especially to see him smiling even at the risk of losing my kidney".

"Doctor"I called.

"What? Am busy so please wrap whatever you want to say up".

"I am ready to donate my kidney to Mr Jack".

"Really?. That good news, I will see the both of you in my office by tomorrow".

"Yes sir"

"Hey, tomorrow I commence the operation so eat something light before coming and make sure he also do that".

"Yes doctor I will try".

"Alright. Good night".

"Night Sir"

I thanked God and at that point I realized there wasn't any money for the Operation.

I called Jack's mum and she promised to sponsor the Operation as long as her son would walk again.

She explained she knew about Frank's evil plans to steal Jack's company and she had tried to stop it from happening and it didn't work out.

I thanked God for helping me out with it.

I closed my eyes to rest for a bit and I had this dream;

In the dream, I watched Jack standing up,he walked close to me and dragged me close.

He stared at me his hands running through skin.

He watched me for a bit and smirked.

"I don't want to hurt you"

"What are you trying to do?"I asked a bit scared.

"Have you close"He responded.

"Let me go".

"Why?"

"I don't love you"I said and looked away.

"That a lie"

"What makes you think am lying?"I asked and his hands ran across my lips.

"You can't resist my touch".I watched his hands move slowly on my lips.

"You always want me close. Your heart skips at the sight of me, you always want to see my face,you strive to see me smile".

"You are ready to donate your kidney to me regardless of whether you will be fine or not".

"It my duty as a maid to care".

"A maid?. You know that not true, you don't act like a maid or do what maid's are meant to do. You care about me so much Jane. You are really in love with me".

"No am not"

"You are even dreaming of me now. You want me close and my lips on yours right now"He said and leaned close.

"Jack please..."

"Don't push me away Jane. You want me".

"I do and that hurts a lot".

"Why does it hurt?"He asked.

"Am not in your caliber,I don't fit in your life. Am a maid and how do you think I feel pushing the person I want close away from me. I can't handle watching you far from me when I want to be close to you. I can't handle it when your eyes are not on mine. I feel bad watching you stare elsewhere when am here, I don't feel happy when you are upset or sad. I want to be your first happiness and love too. I want to love you till I breathe my last breath.i want you to be my number one.i see you as someone I want to spend my time with, start my life journey with, wake up close too every morning,shower with love,kisses and hugs. Help you in the midst of your troubles, stand by you, be your strength and you mine. Hug tight and never let go, I want to feel your touch on my body and I want to feel you close to me but all this is just a dream that can't be a reality".

I woke up and realized I was in tears,it was morning already so I walked downstairs only to see Jake eating breakfast.

He watched me closely and I could see he was in tears.

"I didn't mean to. I promise"He said crying his eyes out.

"I believe you"I said and he smiled.

"She claimed I raped her and a girl's word was the truth and I couldn't prove that I was drugged at that time so inorder not to get arrested I bribed her with money and valuables".

"She is a witch"

"Yes she is. My conscience disturbed me terribly and the only way for me not to feel guilty was to smoke. Smoking and drinking became an habit for me and become I knew it, I was addicted to it. Worse I started going around with girls and when my parents found out they were mad at me by then it was too late I had lost control and I ran mad".

"OMG"

"I was admitted to the psychiatrist hospital. Months later I was alright but I couldn't contain the disgrace I had made my parents go through so I was depressed for months. I almost committed suicide but luckily I was saved by Jake and that was when we became friends he convinced me to go back to school again, I refused but later on agreed after knowing Bella, she too convinced me, we were the three besties that did everything together, I convinced my parents and I left for the US so did Bella and after my masters I came back to this country".

"What of that girl?"

"Ohh. She was jailed for two years and that how I got to know she was the one who drugged me to get valuables and money".

"Wow. Your story is really touching and a lesson to people out there".

"Yes, I was lucky to have someone like Jake and Bella in my life. I owe them a lot others might not be and that why I try to share my story with people".

"Can I get a hug from you?"

He pulled me close to him and while we hugged I opened my eyes to see Jake staring at me.

He angrily rolled his wheelchair away.

"Can we talk later?"I asked Jim disengaging from the hug.

"Okay"He said and I walked away I was about entering Jake's room when I heard the door bell ring.

Jake calm down she cares about you and you alone but why was she hugging Jim. Jim is your best friend you shouldn't be jealous of him.

I am the only one allowed to feel Jane's hands around me.

"I hate this wheelchair. It has deprived me of many things".

I can't wait to be back on my feet again. I want to hug Jane like every normal man does to his woman.

I opened the door and met the doctor and the nurse that caught I and Jake kissing.

"Today we start the exercise I hope you remember?"The doctor asked as usual in his strict tone.

"Yes I remember. Come in".

"I thought you had a surgery why aren't you resting"The nurse asked me.

"I had enough rest yesterday"

"Hmm where is Mr Jake Smith?"

"Am here"I heard and turned to see Jake.

"We are to start your training session today"The nurse said and Jake's mum walked in.

"That a good thing"She said with smiles on her face.

"Let go to the garden then. There's a lot of space there".Jake said.

"What going on?"Jim asked watching everyone except Bella walk into the garden.

"My training exercise is to start today".

"That good bro"Jim replied and walked close to me.

"Let start then"The nurse said setting up the equipment to use.

"Bella where were you?"Jake's mum asked her.

"I had a few things to do"She responded.

"Mr Jake try to stand up don't worry I will help you up"The doctor said and Jake tried getting up but he couldn't.

"Try again"The doctor said.

I watched him, he was in so much pains. He was determined to stand but he couldn't.

"Try again"

He kept on trying but still he fell back on his wheelchair.

"Try again sir"The nurse said.

"I can't. I just can't"Jake said almost in tears.

"Why can't you?"I asked him.

Everyone eyes were on me. I walked to where he was and asked again

"Why can't you Jake?. What stopping you?. Are you scared or just weak?"

He gave me a Stern look and responded

"Am none of those"

"If you aren't then it best you try getting up from that wheelchair".

"Watch it Jane!"His mum warned.

"Why?. Do you want me to keep quiet?. I won't!. I mean I didn't donate my kidney to him just for him to claim to be weak if that is the case then I want my kidney back"

Everyone were dumbfounded.

"Jane get out"Jake said angrily.

"I should get out. You sure know how to make your tongue sharp. Who do you think you are to ask me to get out. You are only a weakling who can't even stand up straight. Mind you I only listen to orders from people who are standing on their own two feets".

"This girl has no manners"Bella said and I smirked.

"Didn't you hear what my son just said. Get out of here"Jake's mum said and pushed me out.

"Mum stop it"Jake said.

I was on the floor and I was bleeding badly, I felt weak and dizzy, Jake's mum had thrown me on the floor close to a stone which was left for display before I knew it my eyes were closed.

"Mum what did you do?"Jake said.

He was on his feet standing up. He fell back on his wheelchair again.

"Doctor. Help her please"

"She would be fine after she takes this medicine. Mr Jake this girl is the reason for your improvement. What happened today is something I haven't seen in my many years of being a doctor. She worked magic, using heart breaking words to build the patients self esteem that brilliance".

"Yes sir. She worked wonders today. You were standing up for 10 seconds that a major score no one has beaten well until today".The nurse said.

"Alright we will take our leave. Tomorrow your session continues make sure you take care of her. She needs rest".

"My son.."

I watched her try to get up.

She looked weak but at the same time better maybe cause am with her. I want to put a smile back on your face and the only way is for me to be standing on my two feet walking.

I walked down to the garden trying to feel the cold breeze, I hated being sick especially because I would be made to stay in bed all day.

It was late so I was sure everyone would be asleep including Jake.His proposal had kept me up, I wanted to be his for the rest of my life at the same time am not sure his mum would accept me.

She has worries that a maid couldn't fit in their class and maybe she is right. I heard someone breathing hard and I walked in only to find Jake try to get up.

I went close and it was a piece of bottle, I picked it up and tore my shirt,I immediately gave myself a cut . It started bleeding and I could feel the pains.

I drew her close and Jake walked right in, from a distance am sure he thought we were kissing and that was good.

I parked the car and tried moving to find Jane, I was close where she was I told myself sniffing her perfume.

I walked close only to find her close to Jim, I was far from where they were but I was sure my eyes weren't deceiving me and they were kissing.

I couldn't help myself, I tried driving but I couldn't so I walked home wiping my tears.
