On what was supposed to be their five year anniversary he sold her to pay his debts to one the country's deadliest Mafia, a man who sent shivers in the underworld. Finding herself in the web of Antonio Moretti, Amy has two choices to remain a timid prey or evolve to a predator herself. To break or be broken.

Chapter 1 Where It All Began

Amy's pov

His calloused palm brushed my cheek, wiping away another tear as he spread my legs like butter.

"Take a deep breath bunny, it's going to be a long night." I collapsed my head back on the pillow and wondered how I had one of the deadliest men in the country between my legs.

Then my mind as if to answer that question pulled my memory back to over a month ago where it all started.

••••••••

"I swear on my grandma's ashes Amy, this time-"

I cut my boyfriend off with a deep frustrated sigh as I wiped the counter with one hand and held my phone with the other.

"No, Jeremy..." I lowered my voice even though no one could hear me over the loud speakers,"Things are finally going right for us, by next month we'll move into a real apartment in a nice part of town there's no need to risk it."

Finally, I wouldn't have to thread the streets that were lined with gangsters and hoodlums.

"I just need that five grand, baby. Forget that tiny apartment, we'll have a house of our own!"

I stopped whipping, fingers curling around the rag.

Jeremy had always been a dreamer, that's part of the reason I fell in love with him.

But things change when you are no longer a starry eyed college student and you find out dreams don't pay student debt.

Ever since we graduated, Jeremy has turned down every job offer he gets; "I'm just waiting for the right one to give you the life you deserve." He said as he rotted away on my couch.

"Jeremy, the inheritance money from my grandma might be our only ticket out of the trenches. I'm not going to let you waste it on your gambling especially when you never win."

He went quiet.

"Fine, forget it! Ignore your loser boyfriend who's good for nothing," he said dramatically, ending the call.

I put my phone away as a customer approached, but I was uneasy.

My last shift ended and I went to give my boss my final farewell.

"Are you sure about this Baker?" He inquired doubtfully, "if you want a raise, we can..."

"No, it's fine." I replied politely, there was no way I'd be able to commute from my new residence down here. It would just be easier to get a new job.

I stepped out of the club feeling lighter than a feather.

Just a month ago, I was drowning in arrears of rent and sharing ramen with Jeremy. Now we were about to move to a real apartment where the roof didn't leak and the walls weren't paperthin.

Nothing, and I mean nothing could ruin this.

"Baby faster! faster!!"

I froze outside our bedroom door, our apartment was just about the size of a shoe box and I could hear everything.

My boyfriend's moans mingled with strangers, their rugged breathing and our rickety bed crying out.

I took a rib lift of air and went over to the living room, dropping on the couch trying to remain calm as my heart raced.

Ten minutes of the entire apartment shaking to the rhythm of their lovemaking and my boyfriend walks into our living room with a stranger. He pretends not to see me and gives her a big wet kiss as a parting gift.

"Seriously?" I stood up and crossed my arms, "Didn't we both agree to close our relationship?"

He grunted something and walked over to the coffee table to grab the remote, "Will you ease up? We said we'd start after we moved. Why are you overreacting?"

"Overreacting?" I spat back at him.

"Yes, you're acting crazy as if our relationship has not been open for years now."

My heart sank as his words forced me to recall the night he sat me down with an ultimatum.

"I want to open our relationship." He went into a deep rehearsed speech about how that was going to spice up our sex life. He'd been my first for everything but he was a notorious playboy when I met him.

At first I disagreed, but he pressured me until I finally gave in.

Funny enough he was so jealous that if I laughed in the direction of another guy he would immediately lose his marbles but he paraded different girls into our apartment, the apartment that I paid for.

But now that we were getting a fresh start I decided to finally stand my ground.

He had surprisingly agreed with arguing, I didn't know he planned to just keep sleeping around anyways.

"But we discussed..."

"And I decided to ignore you, just like how you ignored me when I asked you for the money."

My brow furrowed, I reached for his shoulder tilting my hand upwards.

"Jeremy, is that what this is about?"

He didn't respond but his lips drew out into a tight line and I was about ready to slam my head into a wall.

"Jeremy, don't you want to leave this neighborhood? Finally sleep somewhere that you're not scared of being robbed or mugged?"

He pulled away from my touch, gigging into his hair and screaming.

"Whatever, I finally see it. You don't love me, you just stay with me because it's comfortable.."

He walked over to a wall and started descending one punch after another, "I'm useless...worthless..."

"No, Jeremy!" I grabbed his arm, checked his knuckles and they were already bleeding.

It felt like his punches had been aimed directly at my heart and not the wall.

"F-fine.." I said in a strangled voice, "I'll give you access to the account, but it'll be just one game-"

He swooped me off the floor peppering my face with kisses.

"I love you, Amy..." he said, laying me on the same bed where he had just been intimate with another woman, her perfume still lingering in the air.

But I didn't want to complain, didn't want to break the spell of the moment.

Everything is going to work out, we'll move and in a few more weeks we'll be looking at ring sizes. In some years we'll have little ones running around (we'd even picked out their names) that's right, nothing can go wrong.

Chapter 2 The Debt I Never Owed

Amy's pov

I sealed the last cardboard box and wiped the sweat off my brow with the back of my hand.

Seven hours of packing and finally done, Jeremy had dipped out thirty minutes in to visit a friend since they won't be seeing each other often when we move.

I'd dialed him about a dozen times since then, straight to voicemail.

"Seriously Jeremy?!" I hissed into my phone when he still wasn't answering.

I was trying so hard to make us work, why was he making it difficult for me?

Suddenly my phone started to ring and I picked it up from our bed. "Babe, I won."

The phone nearly slipped past my hands, "No way..." I said unintentionally.

He didn't seem to mind.

"It's ten million dollars, baby. I'm finally going to give you the life you deserve."

Tears welled up in my eyes, "I'm so sorry for ever doubting you. Why don't you come home, let's celebrate..."

"Actually, I already booked us a room in a five star hotel. I'll text you the address. Make sure you wear something nice,"

More tears.

I got dressed at the speed of light, even wore some lipstick and styled my hair simple but elegantly.

Fifteen minutes later I was in the lobby of the hotel, legs wobbling with every step, the excitement making me unable to walk straight.

He sent me a text when I entered the elevator; "I'll be putting a blindfold on you when you walk in so keep your eyes closed before then."

I replied to the text and went back to bubbling with excitement.

Finally I wouldn't be the only one footing bills, we could pay off all our student debt, buy a house for the two kids we'll have.

My eyelids were shut tight as I entered the unlocked hotel room, two steps in and there was already a blindfold around my eyes.

I tried to reach for Jeremy but he stepped away from my touch.

"Give me a strip tease."

I was too excited to think, slowly I began to undress. Good thing I wore matching underwear. He started asking me to pose, it was a bit tantalizing at first then it got weird.

"All right Jeremy, where are you?" I said playfully with a small laugh reaching to touch him and then I fell to the warmth of a human body under fabric and smiled.

"Jeremy..." I reached up, held his face and kissed him, his lips parted immediately possessively taking mine but something didn't feel right however my head was spinning with how good of a kiss it was so I didn't question it just dive deeper until I had to back away for air.

"Jeremy, that was amazing..." I said pulling off the blindfold because I was impatient now.

The smile on my face immediately shrunk when I saw who was in front of me, a man with shoulders as broad as valleys covered with a deep darkish navy blue suit and more noticeably my strawberry lipstick smeared across his lips.

"Who the hell are you?!" I screamed , backing away, my eyes spinning around looking for Jeremy.

But he wasn't in the room.

"What did you do to Jeremy?!" I said at the top of my voice stomping forward, the man met my stride standing up to his full height which was almost a complete foot taller than me and I wasn't exactly a short woman.

After recovering from his insane height it suddenly struck me that I was nude except for my underwear, I protectively clutched around my chest and my panty still seething.

"Just wait when my boyfriend comes he'll kick your-"

"You don't have a boyfriend anymore," the man said as if it was a matter of fact, "from now on you belong to me."

Then without warning someone came from behind it and a damp cloth was pressed against my face. I kicked and screamed but eventually my entire body went limp until my eyes closed.

•••••••••

A house with a white picket fence

Two cute kids running around

And my adoring husband by myself.

That was all I wanted, was that so terrible? Did I not deserve to be happy too? After everything I've been through, don't I deserve just a little bit of happiness?

Probably not, misery was my longest companion.

Perhaps that was never meant to change.

When my eyes peeled open the first thing I took in was the artificial lights burning my retinas then it was a middle aged woman knelt beside me as I was submerged in a tub.

"Don't touch me!" I tried to get away from the woman but her grip despite her age was as firm as iron.

My head was still feeling a bit dizzy so it was hard to coordinate myself and resist the other woman. She finished bathing me as if I was three, helped me out with the tub and handed me a towel and a nightgown that was all but perfectly transparent.

"Mr Moretti wants you to wear this," her voice vibrated with deep respect when she mentioned that name. My instincts told me that it was the same pervert from the hotel room.

I had half the mind to scream, kick and resist but that would only make things harder for me.

What I need to do right now is buy time for Jeremy to rescue me.

There were a lot of things not adding up but if I couldn't trust my boyfriend of half a decade then who else could I trust?

I wore the nightgown that covered next to nothing, the woman escorted me out of the room and led me through a carpeted hall adorned with decorational vases and paintings. I could smell the old money coming off from the place.

Why would someone this loaded need to resort to kidnapping?

Was he in cohorts with the casino where Jeremy went to gamble, I've heard that some casinos pull dirty tricks when they don't want to give a huge payout.

My head was spinning with a million and one thoughts until I was pushed as gently as possible to what appeared to be a study.

Then I heard that rich voice again brushing my ears.

"Finally you're here."

Chapter 3 The Exchange

Amy's pov

He was right behind me, so close that his hot breath brushed my ear when he spoke and his body heat transferred over to mine through the tissue fabric I had on.

I jerked away as if I had been electrocuted, turning around to face him.

"It's you."

As I had rightfully expected, the man behind me was the same pervert from the hotel.

He walked over without an ounce of rush in his steps, and for some reason his blue eyes pinned me down. I couldn't dare to move. I was struggling to even breathe.

His fingers reached under my chin, tipping my head up.

"Your pictures do you no justice, all perhaps Jeremy is just as useless at photography as he is at gambling," he said Jeremy's name with such familiarity, does that mean that he wasn't working with the casino.

"What do you want from me? Why did you kidnap me?"

"Kidnap?" He returned the word back to me as if that was the first time he heard it. He held my arm firm but not painful, however I couldn't even dream of breaking out of his grip.

He went with me towards the table, then his hands began to scan around the orderly mess before peeling documents from it all.

"Read it," he said in a commanding voice, thrusting the document into my hands.

I took it, then my eyes went wide.

"What is this?"

"It's called an exchange, bunny." He said then he sat at the corner of the table pulling me close until I was between his legs.

"Jeremy owed me a lot of money, he was a frequent one at my casinos. Eventually he managed to rack up a 10 million dollar debt. That's impressive, even for him. Of course it was now at an amount that could only be paid with a life so he decided..." he leaned forward and pulled me even closer. "... That it wouldn't be his life, he handed you over on a silver platter luring you to the hotel so I could see if you were worth it."

"That's not true..." I said even though deep down underneath all of my denial my sense of reason that I had suppressed ever since I started dating Jeremy told me it was.

"Jeremy would never do this to me, we've been together for 5 years...once everything settled we were going to get married!"

He shrugged his shoulders, powerful muscles moving his black button down shirt.

"It doesn't really matter what you believe or not," he said, then when he saw my face shimmering with tears he coughed, "however there's no harm in drilling it in that you have no choice here."

He fished his phone out of his pocket while still casually holding me in an iron grip. When the person on the other side answered he placed it on speaker.

"Mr Moretti, I hope you're enjoying your package," Jeremy's voice came through, "I'm glad you took her even though she's not that much to look at if I'm being honest."

My mouth fell open when I couldn't speak, Mr Moretti didn't have that issue.

"Just keep your slimy feet out of my casinos if you know what's good for you." He sounded very laid back but serious enough to tell you that he wasn't giving an empty threat.

"Don't worry boss, this time I'll be coming with cash and -"

"Sweetheart, come to bed!" A woman's voice came through from the background loud and demanding.

"I'll be there in a moment, honey...have you put Lucas to bed?"

"Yes, now get over here!"

The more I listened to the more I listened the more it felt like the ground on the needs of my feet was peeling away.

If it wasn't for Mr Moretti holding my hand I would have collapsed right there and then.

He ended the call with Jeremy.

"Still having doubts?" He asked with a cocked eyebrow then reached up to curl my hair around his finger.

"From the look on your face I'm guessing you didn't know anything," he stated frankly then went ahead to explain everything.

3 years ago Jeremy had a one night stand, she got pregnant and they've been raising their son together. The woman either doesn't know that they are others in the picture or she doesn't care. Either way he had proposed a year ago and they had a simple court marriage.

As I listened to Mr Moretti I lined up the dates and it clicked precisely with the times that he had to 'go on a trip with friends' or 'visit family'

And as for the inheritance from my grandma he blew it all in one night, didn't even win a single game.

The fairy tale I had built in my head collapsed one card after another until it was just a rubble of dreams.

"So what are you going to do with me now?" I asked, feeling numb inside as he continued to fiddle with my hair. "Will you kill me in his place?"

He paused then lowered his hand to my waist.

"Now why would I do that? It would be such a waste."

He got up, rubbing his fingers on the thin fabric. It felt like he was touching me directly.

"From now on you work for me, pleasing the men I ask you to until you pay off all the debt."

I chuckled, and couldn't help it. He seemed surprised. Of course he was shocked. Who wouldn't be if someone was laughing in this situation?

"Until I pay the money off...so basically I'll be working for the rest of my life?"

"Not exactly, but I've hardly ever seen any of the women leave once they dipped their legs into the job."

In that moment I saw that I had a choice, I could either be swept away by the storm or surf it.

Tentatively I reached up, wrapping my fingers around his neck.

"I was actually a virgin before I met my boyfriend, someone will have to teach me how to please men."

The corner of his lips tugged.

"I break everything I touch bunny. What makes you think you're going to be any different?"

"Cause I'm already broken, Mr Moretti."
