Secrets Of My Mysterious Ex-wife

Author: : Kneedeep
Genre: Romance
Loraine was a dutiful wife to Marco since they got married three years ago. However, he treated her like trash. Nothing she did softened his heart. One day, Loraine got fed up with it all. She asked him for a divorce and left him to enjoy with his mistress. The elites looked at her like she was deranged. "Are you out of your mind? Why are you so willing to divorce him?" "It's because I need to return home to get a billion-dollar fortune. Besides, I don't love him anymore," Loraine replied with a smile. They all laughed at her. Some believed that the divorce affected her mentally. It wasn't until the next day that they realized she wasn't fibbing. A woman was suddenly declared the world's youngest female billionaire. It turned out to be Loraine! Marco was shocked to the bone. When he met his ex-wife again, she was a changed person. A group of handsome young men surrounded her. She was smiling at them all. The sight made Marco's heart ache severely. Putting his pride aside, he tried to win her back. "Hello, love. I see that you are a billionaire now. You shouldn't be with suckers who just want your money. How about you come back to me? I'm a billionaire too. Together, we can build a strong empire. What do you say?" Loraine squinted at her ex-husband with her lips curled in disgust.

Chapter 1 Give Her Kidney To His First Love

"Doctor, remove her kidney now. No need for anesthetic. Loraine, you caused Keely's kidney to rupture. You owe her this; you must compensate her with your own," the cold voice declared.

The harsh, clinical light of the operating room shone down unforgivingly.

Surgeons approached Loraine Torres, who lay helpless on the operating table, their scalpels poised.

Desperation gripped Loraine.

She closed her eyes, her mind replaying the prior evening's nightmare.

She had discovered that her husband, Marco Bryant, was in a hotel with his first love, Keely Haywood, recently returned from abroad.

Heartbroken yet resolute, Loraine decided to confront them.

Upon her entry, Keely, unprovoked, began to provoke Loraine and then wildly stabbed herself with a knife.

In the ensuing chaos, Loraine tried to intervene but was wounded, her arm bleeding profusely.

Overcome by fever and blood loss, Loraine eventually passed out.

Awakening from a coma, she found herself accused of causing Keely's injuries and coerced into donating her kidney as restitution.

What compounded her despair was Marco's blatant disregard, as he remained by Keely's side, indifferent to Loraine's plight.

The irony of her situation was not lost on Loraine.

She had once believed that boundless love would secure Marco's affection.

Now, she realized it had been a futile solo performance.

Reflecting on the disillusionment with Marco, her disappointment was complete.

She had sacrificed three years to a loveless marriage; was she now to sacrifice her kidney too?

"Mrs. Bryant, I'm sorry." The doctor's voice cut through, icy and detached. Jolted back to the harsh reality, Loraine clenched her fists, bracing herself.

Just as the needle of the anesthetic syringe neared her skin, Loraine's resolve ignited.

She wriggled free and lunged for a scalpel lying on a nearby tray.

"Stop her! Catch her!" the nurse shouted, rushing to retrieve the scalpel.

However, Loraine's gaze hardened, her desperation evident.

With a swift movement, she swung the scalpel, striking the nurse's arm.

"Ouch!"

A sharp cry pierced the room as blood stained the pristine sheets.

The wounded nurse backed away, grimacing in pain.

Holding the bloodied scalpel, Loraine scanned the room, her voice icy and resolute. "Touch me again, and I swear, we'll go down together. I have nothing left to lose."

Her wild actions froze the medical team in place, a chilling silence filling the room, punctuated only by the sterile beeps of machinery.

Eventually, the doctors instructed the nurses to unlock the operating room door.

The moment it swung open, Loraine bolted.

Outside, she immediately recognized a familiar figure- tall, with striking features, it was Marco! He was followed by a woman who resembled him, his sister Marina Bryant, the very person who had insisted Loraine compensate for Keely's injury.

Hope flickered in Loraine's eyes upon seeing Marco.

Perhaps he was unaware of the drastic measures being taken.

Perhaps he had come to rescue her.

Gathering her strength, she staggered toward him.

"Marco, they... they're trying to take my kidney!" Loraine's voice shook with urgency. "And I didn't harm Keely. She was..."

"Loraine, enough. Proceed with the surgery," Marco interrupted harshly, cutting her plea short.

These words struck Loraine like a thunderbolt, shattering the remnants of her hope.

The night before, she had seen Marco rush to Keely's side without a moment's hesitation before she passed out. She should have realized he didn't care about her.

With a pang of pain coursing through her, Loraine steadied herself and asked Marco, her voice trembling with heartache, "Did you also orchestrate the plan to take my kidney?"

Impatience flickered in Marco's eyes.

He neither confirmed nor denied her accusation. He didn't offer any explanation.

"Loraine, you owe Keely. Don't worry, I'll compensate you later," he said dismissively.

Hearing this, despair settled in Loraine's heart.

She took a deep breath, the ache in her chest intensifying, and said bitterly, "Marco, I want a divorce."

The word "divorce" clouded Marco's features.

He thought Loraine, usually so meek, was using divorce as an excuse to avoid her obligations.

Marina scoffed, "Even if you divorce, you're still responsible for the kidney. You can't escape that!"

She turned to the medical team behind Loraine and snapped, "Seize her and bring her to the operating room!"

As the nurses closed in, desperation gripped Loraine.

With a burst of resolve, she broke free from the nurses' grasp.

"No! I want to see for myself what's wrong with Keely's kidney!"

With that, she dashed toward Keely's ward, determined to uncover the truth.

Marco and the others hurried after her.

With a bang, Loraine slammed the ward door open.

Keely, upon seeing her, put on a show of terror, looking pitifully frail in her hospital bed.

As Marco moved to block Loraine, he yelled, "Loraine, get on your knees and apologize to Keely!"

Chapter 2 I Want A Divorce

The atmosphere in the ward was tense and silent.

With a smug look, Keely stared at Loraine defiantly, expecting her to submit.

Loraine felt profound disappointment in Marco.

She couldn't tolerate it any longer, briskly moved to Keely's bedside and struck her face with a forceful slap.

The sound of the slap echoed like thunder, shattering the ward's silence.

Before anyone could recover from their astonishment, Loraine roughly pulled back Keely's quilt, and ripped off the gauze on her abdomen.

The supposed severe injury on Keely was merely a minor scar.

It showed no signs of the alleged need for kidney surgery.

Marco's expression turned grim.

Loraine scoffed, "Miss Haywood, why didn't you stab yourself in the back? Wouldn't that be more convincing? Or can't you manage even that?"

Marco looked at Keely with suspicion.

Loraine had suspected that even if Keely had intended to deceive, she wouldn't have inflicted serious harm on herself.

As expected, there was something amiss with the injury.

Keely was alarmed by Loraine's actions.

She hastily covered the gauze and pleaded with Marco for support. "Marco, you must believe me. It was Loraine who stabbed me!"

Marco's expression was filled with doubt.

With a stern face, he said, "Keely, I will uncover the truth. If Loraine is found to be innocent, she will receive the compensation she deserves."

After the incident in the operating room, Loraine saw everything clearly.

Looking at Marco, she realized there was no hope left in her heart.

"I just want a divorce. I don't want anything else."

Upon hearing Loraine's words, Keely smiled to herself.

She knew that once they were divorced, she would be one step closer to becoming Marco's wife.

At the same time, Marina, who had hurried over, became more excited upon hearing Loraine's request for a divorce.

"Marco, please agree to the divorce."

Marco looked at Loraine in disbelief.

He couldn't fathom why his once compliant wife was insisting on a divorce.

But Loraine didn't even glance at Marco anymore. Feeling dizzy, she walked away determinedly.

Marco tried to follow her, but Keely clutched her abdomen with one hand and held onto his arm with the other.

"Marco, my belly hurts."

Marco stayed to support Keely, while Marina said, "Marco, stay with Keely. I'll go check on Loraine."

Then she hurried towards the hospital's entrance.

At the hospital gate.

"Loraine!"

Just as Loraine was about to take a taxi, she heard Marina's voice behind her.

Marina caught up to Loraine and taunted her. "Loraine, did you see that? My brother cares for Keely very much. You should know your place. You're not even fit to be our servant. If it weren't for my grandma's wish for a grandson, my brother wouldn't have married you."

Her words cut deep into Loraine's heart.

Unable to bear it any longer and overwhelmed with anger, Loraine slapped Marina's face.

"Don't you know how to respect others? I'll teach you a lesson!"

Marina was shocked by Loraine's slap.

She stared at Loraine in disbelief. This woman, who had always been patient and meek, had actually struck her.

Marina was so enraged that she nearly lost her composure.

At that moment, Loraine, dizzy from a high fever, was shoved forcefully by Marina and nearly fell.

Just as Loraine was about to tumble, a strong arm extended just in time and caught her securely.

Loraine turned her head weakly to see the man who had helped her.

"Uncle..."

Upon recognizing the familiar face, Loraine whispered his name and then fainted from exhaustion.

Loraine's voice was so faint that Marina didn't catch her whisper.

In her rage, seeing another man holding Loraine, she pointed at her and yelled, "Loraine, you bitch! How dare you cheat on my brother!"

The man's expression turned stern.

He steadied Loraine and faced Marina without a second's delay.

Marina received another forceful slap.

Stunned by the slap, Marina held her face and looked at the man's piercing eyes in terror. She was so frightened that she froze in place.

The man paid no further attention to Marina. He lifted Loraine, gave Marina a cold look, turned, and walked away.

As he carried Loraine to a black Lincoln, Marina stood bewildered and shaken.

When had Loraine become involved with such a man?

His authoritative demeanor suggested he was no ordinary person.

What was the nature of their relationship?

Chapter 3 The Cherished Princess Of The Torres Family

In the hospital ward, the air was heavy with tension and despair.

The farce had everyone enduring Marco's wrath.

He loomed by the bed, his expression dark as he fixed a piercing gaze on Keely's attending physician.

"What the hell is going on with Keely's kidney?"

The doctor flinched under Marco's intense scrutiny and stern voice.

After a brief hesitation, he confessed, "It was Miss Haywood. She instructed me to fabricate the diagnosis of a ruptured kidney to..."

"Get out!"

Marco's command was swift, and the bodyguards promptly escorted the doctor away.

Turning with a cold glare, Marco's eyes fell on Keely's wan face, his look tinged with disappointment. "Did you have a hand in this?"

The truth about Keely came to light.

Her complexion was ashen, tears reddening her eyes. Through her sobs, she pleaded, "Marco, it wasn't intentional. I only wanted to teach Loraine a lesson..."

"A lesson?" Marco's temper flared, cutting her off sharply. "Using kidney transplant surgery as a lesson? That's monstrous!"

As the gravity of her situation sank in, Keely broke down completely. "Marco, I admit my mistake. I've been terrified... Ever since Jorge passed, I've been alone... I feared you'd leave me for Loraine... I was wrong. Please, can you forgive me just this once?"

Hearing Jorge Riley's name made Marco's heart stutter.

Jorge had sacrificed himself for Marco. With his dying breath, he had entrusted Keely to Marco, beseeching him to protect her always.

Recalling his promise to Jorge, Marco's voice softened. "I'll keep my promise to Jorge."

Relief flickered in Keely's eyes at his words.

Yet Marco quickly added a stern caveat. "From now on, you must steer clear of Loraine, or I won't let you off easily."

Jealousy and resistance flickered in Keely's eyes as she heard Marco's words. "Marco, associating with Loraine will only bring shame to the Bryant name and you!"

Marco shot her an irritated look.

"Her identity is not your concern. Remember, she is my wife."

With that, Marco exited the ward with a frosty demeanor.

He couldn't shake off the image of Loraine's resolute departure, which weighed heavily on him.

How could Loraine dare to seek a divorce!

He had chosen her mostly because she was compliant and manageable.

Being an orphan with neither influential connections nor wealth made her easy to control, perfectly fitting the role of his wife.

For three years, she had played her part without complaint.

Marco had believed this arrangement would endure.

But now, Loraine was demanding a divorce with unwavering resolve.

Something felt off to Marco, yet he couldn't pinpoint what it was.

Just then, Marina approached, tears streaming down her face, disrupting his thoughts.

She cried out, "Marco, you must help me. Loraine was whisked away by a man in a luxury car. She's surely having an affair!"

A man?

Marco's brow furrowed, and a surge of anger built within him.

Reflecting on Loraine's firm stance on the divorce, he sensed his control slipping.

"Marco! Do something!"

Already on edge, Marco had little patience for Marina's melodrama.

"Take her home," he commanded his men, dismissively.

Then, turning to his assistant, he issued a stern directive. "Find Loraine immediately. I need her location."

When Loraine regained consciousness, she found herself in an opulent bedroom, unmistakably her own.

An elderly man sat at the bedside.

"Grandpa."

Upon seeing her grandfather, Loraine's emotions overwhelmed her.

She rushed into his arms, her voice breaking as she apologized. "Grandpa, I'm sorry. I should never have left the Torres family for that man. I made a mistake."

Aldo Torres, the influential head of Universe Group, known for his commanding presence that could unsettle even the entire city with minimal effort, was heartbroken to see his beloved granddaughter in tears. At this moment, his concern was not the years she had been away, but providing her comfort.

"It's good to have you back, Lorrie," he said warmly.

Aldo tenderly stroked Loraine's hair, his eyes brimming with love and tenderness.

"You can always come home. You're the cherished princess of the Torres family, and anyone who troubles you will answer to me."

Loraine's memories of hardships within the Bryant family overwhelmed her, and she wept, releasing years of pent-up distress.

Aldo patted her back, his voice thick with emotion. "Your parents left us too soon, Rowan's commitments in the military keep him away, and Wesley is abroad focusing on his career. You're my only granddaughter, and I can't bear to see you suffer."

Feeling her grandfather's unconditional support, warmth seeped back into Loraine's heart.

Tears glistening in her eyes, she looked up at Aldo.

"I'm sorry for worrying you, Grandpa."

Aldo squeezed her hand reassuringly, not a hint of reproach in his tone.

"Take all the time you need. Once you're ready, the Universe Group will be waiting for you."

Brushing away a tear, Loraine shared her plans. "Thank you, Grandpa. But I want to start my career as an architect."

Aldo smiled, patting her head affectionately, "I support you wholeheartedly. Begin at the ground level and build your way up, proving your capabilities."

A steely resolve flickered across Loraine's eyes.

But she had one more task to address before fully stepping into her role at Universe Group.

Just then, Bernie Scott, the butler, entered the room.

He approached with a stack of documents, offering them to Loraine with respect.

"Miss Torres, here are the documents you requested. They're ready for you."
