Chapter 1 First Day, New School

"Chloe, you really don't want to be late on your first day at the new school." She heard her mom say as she passed her door to go into her younger brother's room; the boy who for some reason believed he was older than she was.

She groaned and shook her head. This wasn't fun like she thought it would, this was exhausting for her.

When her parents told her they would move from New York City to this place; a small town in Alaska she was elated, and she thought that she would finally have some peace, but now it looked like she was starting to regret her decision to be happy. It wasn't really easy taking up early in the morning to prepare for school, especially a school that she was entering in, as a senior.

Leighton High doesn't accept any students especially not in the middle of the year and not from a rich family, but because her grades were perfect, and her father and the principal went to the same college and were returning a favor, she had been accepted.

She was sure that she would be able to blend anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem. She didn't want to stand out like she was in her old school in a bad way, and that was a nightmare for her. She just hoped that this new school wouldn't be the same. Sighing, or more like groaning, she stood up from the bed, throwing the cover aside and putting down her feet on the ground. It was cold, so she winced, squeezing her eyes shut. She didn't like the cold weather for any reason, but she love the feeling of the rain on her, only to get sick after.

Her mother already knows that she always falls sick during rainy seasons, so she would always make her soup to help. She loved her mother's soup anyway.

She quickly walked to the bathroom where she would be having a quick shower. She didn't want her mother to come to yell at her again for the second time, because that meant that she would have to start rushing unnecessarily.

If Chloe hated anymore more than the cold, even though she was weird enough to like the rain or the soup that came with it, she hated rushing around the house to look for things or get ready, as long as rushing around was involved. She wouldn't want to start sweating after taking her bath like some goat in labor.

She grabbed her toothbrush and paste and she brushed her teeth, and after she was done, she had a quick shower, washing her hair with shampoo. Thankfully, they had arrived in town a week before and she had been able to unpack everything so that all she needed was within reach. After her bath, she wrapped a white towel around her and walked back into her room.

Chloe was a coordinated person, so she had arranged her school bag and books, and all she needed was her clothes. Opening up her wardrobe, she looked around it for something to wear, then she pulled out a pair of black jeans, a yellow camisole, and a black leather jacket. This screamed like she was looking for attention but that wasn't the case. She didn't want any attention, and she would like as less people as possible to notice her, so she switched the leather jacket for a hoodie instead, a midnight blue color and then she walked with the clothes back in her hand to drop them on the bed. She wasn't sure if that was good enough, but she doesn't have the time to change it again, so she walked to her dresser to grab her hair dryer and did the needful. After that, she straightened it, applying a cream to help keep it shiny and then she wore her clothes.

No makeup on her face, well, she didn't really need that if she wanted to stay unseen. Besides, no need to try to be beautiful when she was just a plain girl with a plain face. The only thing that wasn't plain about her were her eyes, a spring forest green color, and she loved how intense they looked. At her former school though, she usually avoided wearing green because it made her eyes pop and that was just not acceptable. After she was done with wearing her clothes, she combed her brown full hair again, and then she grabbed her school bag.

Rushing downstairs, she walked to the dining room and walked to kiss her dad on the cheek. "Good morning, Dad." She said, smiling.

"Hey, Mom." She greeted her mother, grinning inwardly because she knew her mother's reaction to such a greeting. She would roll her eyes with a grunt and whisper "brat" because she was being "biased" and greeting her father better.

"Hey, pumpkin. Good morning. You sure look good." He said.

She ruffled her younger brother's hair, and the younger one was given a kiss like she did her dad. She had two brothers and was older than they are with four and eight years respectively. Cameron was thirteen while Camden was eight years old. She called them both Cam sometimes to be funny but usually it was just Cameron and Camden.

"Thanks, Dad." She grinned at him and sat down on the chair beside Camden. Looking at him, she said. "Hey, buddy. Have you taken your assignment?" she asked him because he always forgot it back at home in New York.

He gave her a small shake of his head and she stood up to go get it. She smiled and shook her head, and then she looked over her shoulder at her mom trying to carry four plates of breakfast towards them. It was bacon and egg and smells divine. Chloe would have helped, but her mother had stopped her from cooking. She said it was better to do the cooking on her own to be a better mom and closer to her family. Her mom was a doctor with little hours at home and most hours in the hospital. She had always cooked uneatable meals until she stopped altogether. Although, she had later had to learn and ever since she could cook better, she had decided to be the sole provider of meals, even though Chloe knew how to perfectly well.

She shook her head as she placed a plate in front of her and one beside her for Camden, then she grabbed her fork and started to eat. She needed to be on her way to school soon. It was her first day and she wouldn't want to be late.

It took her five minutes, and she was done. Grabbing her phone off the table, she said. "Bye Dad, bye Mom. Cams, bye. I'll see you guys later. She said and bolted out the door.

Chapter 2 Trying not to draw attention

Leighton High was not too far, but it wasn't close either, so she started to walk at a fast pace until she was a few blocks away from the school, and she slowed down. She didn't want to seem weird or even draw attention to herself so she cut the yard across to the parking lot and passed the side of the school building.

The school was big, an obviously rich kid school, and the cars in the parking lots for students just made Chloe want to roll her eyes. They seemed like they would be more expensive than what her mother made in a year as a doctor in a small hospital or her dad's in a bank. They were the typical normal parents but she was proud of them and what they do.

Successfully, she was able to walk into the school without being looked at by anyone. She recognized the school groups, according to what they were doing. The tech groupies, the science nerds, the bad boys with the motorcycle, the bad girls' wannabes, the school prince and princess leagues, and the "woke" people. She shook her head at the way one of them was talking so rapidly about what to do if the principal doesn't add a program to the day curriculum. That was really something.

Chloe adjusted the strap of her bag as she walked down the hall of the school corridor to find her locker. She had been given her schedule during the weekend and her locker had also been shown to her. She would need to change the combination but that would be later at lunch break. Right now, she just needed to get her books placed in it and get the textbook needed for the first period.

According to the person that showed her around when she came with her father on Saturday, assembly was only for special occasions, so she just had to go straight to the first period. She soon located the locker and she put in all of her books, took out the ones she needed, and then she started to head for the class, but that was when it happened.

The door of the front hall opened and two guys started to walk down it towards her with two girls in their arms like candies. Chloe had totally miscalled the school princess and princes or maybe she didn't. These people were the school kings and queens, or so she could tell by the way the people parted for them, and smiled at them, greeting and giving them attention.

The first boy was a bit shorter than the second boy, and he had a dirty blonde hair, almost brown. He had a pair of blue eyes and he was handsome. The girl beside him was tall and dark, with a pretty nose and pretty eyes as well. She was wearing a pink short wrap dress and a pair of silver heels. Her toes were painted light pink, the same shade as her dress, and she had a brown hair color.

The second boy, OMG! He was tall like his companion, and he had a wide chest lean muscle thing going for him. The hair on his head was shining black, and he had grey eyes. He had Chace Crawford look going for him, only with the black hair difference. In fact, he looked like he was the one, if she didn't know any better.

Like Chloe, he was wearing a midnight blue t-shirt, and a black pair of jeans, and carrying a black bag on one shoulder. The girl beside him was wearing a white dress with fake eyelashes. She had some freckles scattered across the bridge of her nose and her hair was almost white. She was also pretty, but not as pretty as the boy. Damn, he was hot as hell.

Chloe didn't realize that she had her mouth open until she felt something enter into her mouth. Quickly she spat it out and saw that it was a small bug. She was still so engrossed in the bug that she didn't realize the group had gone past her. When she looked up and saw that, she checked out the hot boy from behind. God, he looked so good from all angles.

With a sigh, she turned back to her locker then she realized that it was locked and she started to go to her class. As she got to the door, she paused and stared at the above sign to see if she was in the right place or had gotten it wrong.

"I'm right!" she muttered and open the door. Inside, a few number of students were there already, so she walked as fast and silently as she could to a seat she saw in the middle row. She hated sitting at the back and loved sitting at the front, but the front seats were occupied already, so she just sat there. As soon as she did, the student seemed to notice her then, giving her a weird look.

Normally, she would have gotten scared with her heart in her throat, but she couldn't allow fear to rule her anymore. She had promised herself that much after what had happened at her former school. She decided that it was best to ignore them. She was sure they'll all stop starting when the teacher starts to teach them. Her first period was Geometry anyway, so they would face their trigonometry when the teacher begin the class. That was the topic they were on because she had done her research.

She dropped her book, used the hood of her hoodie to converter hair, and then she put her face on her folded arms against the table.

Soon the teacher came in and while he was still telling everyone to settle down, she heard someone tap the seat she was sitting on with their leg and he said in a deep lower pitch voice.

"Get the fuck up from my seat, bitch." She heard. The voice made her inside jump and she could feel butterflies in her lower belly. The voice was so sexy, with the way he spoke, she was sure his face would match his voice, but that didn't mean anyone would call her a bitch and she would take it.

As she raised her head up to look at the person, she realized that it was the handsome boy from earlier. She tried her best not to open her mouth and with a trained expression, she looked at him from head to toe, then back up.

"Huh, excuse me?" she said, raising one of her brows up.

Chapter 3 Hated Day Here Again

This was another Monday, and he had to go to school. God he hated Mondays and he just wishes that he could drop the hell out. He was already rich on his own and doesn't even need his father's money, even though he had plenty.

His father paraded himself as this good man, doing good deeds out there but never there for his own kid. He had a foundation that he named Joy, after Zach's late mother for people battling with cancer but with little to no money for chemo.

Zach had to stay here in Leighton, because his father was never around, and he had to live here with his father's wife, his stepmother was a good woman, but Zach just could never accept her. She had a son with his father, who was now Zach's brother; Sander.

His brother had told everyone his name started with a Z and not an S because he wanted his name to look cool like his older brother. Sander was eight years old and his mother died seven years ago, which meant that his bastard father was cheating on her mother with Sander even before she died and that was one of the reasons he didn't like the woman, but he loved his brother so much.

The knock on his door last night and the black shiny head that came into view doused his anger when Allyson, Sander's mom had asked him why he was coming home late like she was his mother. He had come into his room, saying that he had a bad dream and would like to sleep in his room.

So this morning, it was his brother's feet that woke him up. He was ten years older than the boy, but he felt as if he was the best friend he could ever have.

"Zach, you're fisting your hand again," Sander said and he looked at him. He sighed and unfolded his hand and then he ruffled the boy's hair and said. "Sorry, Sand. I was thinking about something stupid. You should go get ready for school before Ally comes to find you."

Sander nodded his head and got out of his bed. He waited until he was out before standing up as well to go take his bath.

After taking his bath, he dressed up and grabbed his bag, to go to the kitchen where Ally and Sander were already at. They were sitting and eating their breakfast, while Mrs. Good standing at the sink; a woman older than his father by at least fifteen years, that always cooked for the family.

Zach loved the woman because she was nice, and treated him like a grandmother would his grandson. "Hey, Mrs. Good. Good morning." He said winking. He had always greeted her like that because of her name and it had always been fun at how she looked at him when he did that. He would shake her head at him and give him a sweet smile. She and Sander were the reasons he still hadn't moved out. He was eighteen after all, and was already making his own money. He made furniture in his spare time and he had sold the first one online when he had first started, posting it on Instagram and a star footballer had shown interest. He had DM'ed him and the rest was history. He wasn't making close to anything his billionaire father was. He owned a multinational company that made iron and stuff and also had many small companies that Elliot-Day Corp was a mother company too.

But, he was, however, satisfied with the money he was making, and could buy a house if he wanted. Guaranteed that his father's name helped him sell a lot, but the consolation was his father also had the advantage of that same name.

Elliot-Day in Alaska was a very old money family and they own half the stores and lands here. Anyway, any of that didn't stop the fact that he hated Monday. He would need to go to college if he had any dream of growing and expanding his network or founding his company. He sat at the table with a small good morning to Ally and then he waited for Mrs. Good to get him breakfast.

She placed a plate of eggs, bacon, and freshly made fruit bread in front of him. Smiling up at her, he said. "Thank you, Missy." Normally, that was the name he called her, and everyone around here, except for the occasional good morning, afternoon, or evening where he used her surname.

The elderly woman patted his shoulder and she walked back to the sink. As he started eating, Ally said. "You should pick Sander in school today Zach."

Looking up from his food, he glanced at Sander to see he had his earpiece in his ears and he looked back at Ally. "Why should I? He's your son, not mine." Although Zach loved picking up Sander from school and spending time with him, he always argue things with her just to spite her.

"Because he wants you to, plus I have to go see some houses today." She said. She was a realtor, but it beats Zach that she was still working when she was married to a billionaire and his father already asked her to stop. Wasn't that why she married his father? To be rich and all. She had, after all, cheated with him on his mother and have a son for him because she wanted this life.

Beats him every day.

"That's none of my business. You should find a way around it. I've something to do with my time too, besides, my job brings in more money than yours, and I'm in high demand." He said, with a shrug.

"Well, I could do it if you want, but he wanted you to." She repeated.

Zach looked at Sander again to see that he was now looking back and forth between them so he sighed and rubbed his face, then he nodded. "I'll pick him up." He said.

Pushing back his chair, he walked to Sander and then they did their special fist bump, and he was out the door and on his way to his car.

He unlocked his car and got in. He had to pick his friends, Zoe, Dana, and Liam. It didn't take long to reach Liam's and when he got in, he resumed driving until he got to Zoe's and Dana's. They lived side by side and close to the school anyway.

"Hey, Zach," Dana said and he smiled at her as he turned to her and Zoe. That all saw that Zoe was grumpy this morning, so he greeted her inside and she answered briefly.

As he drove, Liam asked Zoe what was worrying her blonde white hair and she smiled, and that lifted her mood a little. Their group was a bit funny, because they always looked as if they were dating one another, but they were not. Zach had not really liked anyone in the school but he had a reputation anyway.

Finally, they got to the school and he parked in his spot, then he got down from the car and Zoe came to stand beside him and Dana beside Liam. It was always like this every morning. At least, this was the only part he like on a Monday morning, their grand entrance.

As they walked into the school hall, the students parted like the sea to Moses's rod. He had his "no nonsense" expression on his face and he didn't look at anyone, but the road ahead. They would be going to their spot until the bell for the first period rang.

It did, about ten minutes after the show, and Liam and Zach started to go to one class as they had first period together, and Zoe and Dana to the other two classes. He waved them both goodbye with a smile and turned to Liam. "I just wish it was the end of this period already." He said.

Liam chuckled. "Oh please, we all know how bad you hate Geometry. I just can't for the life of me determine the one you hate most. Mondays or Geometry classes." He said.

They walked into the class to see that Mr. Henry; the teacher was already there. He shook his head and walked to his seat only to see that someone was sitting there. It was a girl, he could tell from the hair showing underneath the hoodie. Angrily, he used his foot to hit the table and said. "Hey, get the fuck away from my seat."
