Chapter 1 JASMINE'S POV

I could hear the faint ringtone of my phone in my dreamland, but I made no attempt to pick up. Oh please, I'm having such an amazing time with this hot Zeus reincarnation in my dream(his body built like that of a god and his face perfectly made, he offered me a drink, smiling and now he's about to kiss me), so the call can wait. But then, it could be my bestie calling...

Without opening my eyes, I reached for my phone, picked up, and placed it on my ear. A very loud voice yelling my name confirmed it was indeed my bestie calling.

The sudden shrillness pierced my eardrums and jolted me awake, JASMINE!!! Raymond yelled over the phone. 'Are you crazy, Raymond?' What the fuck!!!" I snapped at him.

"Careful with the attitude, young lady. Do you know what time it is? Are you not going to school, bitch?!!" he shot back at me.

"Are you my mother, asshole? Fuck off!!" I shot right back at him and hung up.

Truthfully, I'm going to be late for my first lecture..

Sorry for the late introduction. My name is Jasmine Coker, and I'm studying psychology at Oklahoma Christian University trying to understand human behavior but sometimes struggling to grasp my own, I would love to continue with the introduction, but Dr. Newell is very strict.

I got ready, but I couldn't make anything to eat because I was in a hurry, so I just grabbed my backpack and left the house. The fresh air was a soothing balm for my frantic thoughts

Raymond was already outside waiting for me, so I just hopped in the car. He picks me up all the time; I have a car of my own, but I rarely drive because I have my personal chauffeur (Raymond). And yeah, I live alone; my parents live in London, and we don't exactly have a lovey-dovey parent-daughter relationship - it's complicated.

"You good?" Raymond asked me concernedly.

"Yeah, I am, just hungry, I replied.

We got to school and went to our different classes. Raymond is studying Digital Design, which is totally different from what I'm studying.

I was 5 minutes late, but Dr. Newell let me in, which is unusual. I sat down and tried to listen to him talk, but my mind kept drifting to the strange, unsettling feeling that had been building all day, I don't know what's going on, but I feel like something huge is about to happen..

The bell rang, and I left the class for the cafeteria. I got my order and, as I was making my way to a seat, I was tripped. As I was expecting to hit my face on the cold, hard floor, I was saved. I looked up to my savior and saw Raymond smiling cheekily. I shook my head and faced the person who tripped me, and it was no other than Francis, the dickhead who has been trying to get down with me but got rejected flat out and hasn't recovered.

Raymond wanted to hit him, and I just held him back. He's not worth it; he's a dimwit. I sat down, and Raymond asked me what was wrong. I was taken aback.

Don't give me that face, Jay; something is going on with you. What's bothering you?" he asked worriedly.

"Nothing is wrong, Ray Gay" I replied with a laugh. "If something is wrong, then I don't know what it is."

"First of all, I told you never to call me Ray Gay, "And secondly, are you pregnant? "You know I won't judge. Who's responsible? Is he someone I know? Oh my God! Was it a one-night stand? Does he go to our school?"

Raymond bombarded me with questions, I held up my hands, laughing. "Are you kidding?", 'You think I'm pregnant?' "Raymond, stop worrying" I'm not pregnant, and there's no guy anywhere. I don't know what's going on, for real. I just feel like something big is about to happen."

Raymond grinned mischievously. "Well, well, well. Today's Friday. Why don't we go out later tonight and have some fun? Let's clear your pretty head."

"Alright, come pick me up later," I agreed.

....

I got home and lay on the bed, but a lot of random thoughts kept occupying my mind. So, I stood up and went to the bathroom, undressed, and got into the bathtub, letting the warm, bubbly water wash all my thoughts away. I don't know how long I spent there, though. I got out and tried to pick out an outfit, but on second thought, I wanted to ditch Raymond and just sleep - arghhhh! But Raymond would have my head if I did that. I got ready, and Raymond was already waiting for me(Raymond's reliability was a comforting constant in my life).

Wow, you look so dashing, Raymond," I said sincerely.

He winked at me. "Well, you don't look bad yourself, Jasmine."

We arrived at the party, and I sighed inwardly. It was a typical gathering of hormone-controlled adults partying their lives away. I had just arrived, and already I wanted to go home...

I lost Raymond a few minutes after we got there, The music was pulsating and the crowd was alive but I felt disconnected, I tried to get a drink and make a quick exit. I left the party, and honestly, I didn't know where I was going. But it felt like I had a particular destination in mind. Eventually, I arrived at a serene and beautiful forest view, and I was amazed by its beauty. The trees towered over me, their leaves rustling in the gentle breeze like a chorused whispers, Just then, I felt like someone was around, and my heart started racing - strangely, not out of fear...

"Hey there..."

As I turned to face the owner of the captivating voice, our eyes met, and I felt an inexplicable jolt. The air seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly energy. I gasped, my mind racing with the impossible: "This can't be happening again."

Before me stood the most breathtakingly beautiful man I had ever seen. His chiseled features, piercing gaze, crimson orbs with a spark of grey eyes and chiseled physique made my heart skip a beat. He approached me with a confident stride, his hand extended in greeting.

"My name is Scott Edward, milady. What's your beautiful name?"

As our hands touched, a spark of electricity coursed through my veins, weakening my knees. I knew this feeling all too well – the unmistakable sign of a mate bond. But I refused to surrender.

Without hesitation, I declared, "I, Jasmine Coker, reject you, Alpha Scott Edward, as my mate."

As I said the words, a pang of guilt hit me, but i pushed it aside, unsure of what the future held...

NOTE: A mate bond is a supernatural connection between two individuals, can be a human and a werewolf or between two werewolves. The two individuals involved share a deep unshakable link unless one decides to break it which is rare as a mate is supposed to be a one-time life partner. They trigger strong emotions such as passion, protectiveness and loyalty, Can cause physical reactions like weakened knees or sparks upon touch. Rejecting a mate bond may have unforeseen, potentially severe consequences on both individuals though an Alpha who is mated to anyone can pull through after a rejection easily. Crimson orbs are common in Alphas, it makes them different from other ranks..

Chapter 2 SCOTT'S POV

Deucalion, my wolf, has been acting strangely for a while now, but he's not communicating with me, so I've let it slide. However, his unease is distracting me." I paused, focusing on the task at hand.

"Alpha!" Marcus, my beta and best friend, burst in, breathing heavily. I sprang up, alarm coursing through me. "What's happening, Marc?" I asked, concern etched in my voice.

"It's...Nathan," he stammered.

I rushed out of my office and up to my son's room, my heart racing. The sight before me made my breath catch. Nathan lay on the floor, eyes closed, looking lifeless. A wave of despair washed over me, and I sank to the floor beside him, cradling him in my lap. Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes.

Just as I was about to succumb to panic, I felt Nathan's heartbeat pounding strongly against my chest. I opened my eyes to find two mischievous doe eyes staring up at me, sparkling with amusement.

"Nathaniel, what the hell was that about?" I snapped at him.

"Language, Daddy," he said, grinning mischievously.

"Oh, Nathan," I sighed, shaking my head. "Did you know about this, Marcus?" I glared at my beta, who bowed his head but couldn't hide his smirk.

"You two," I pointed at them, exasperated, and carried Nathan to my office. "You're going to get punished for that, Champ."

"Aww, Daddy," Nathan pouted, widening his doe eyes. "I just wanted to cheer you up. You've been so down lately. "Cheer me up? You scared me half to death, Nathaniel! Never pull a stunt like that again, please," I pleaded.

"I'm sorry, Daddy," he said, looking remorseful. Marcus followed us into the office, and I placed Nathan on my lap, continuing to sign paperwork. My office, with it's dark wood paneling and comfortable leather chair, was my sanctuary

"Daddy, can you do something for me?" Nathan asked, looking up at me with a pout. "What is it, Champ?" I asked warily.

"First, promise you'll do it," he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

"No, no, no. You're up to something," I said, shaking my head. "But, Daddy, you said you'd do anything for me," he reminded me, using his favorite card.

Alright, alright, I promise, Nathan," I conceded, defeated. "Go out tonight, Daddy!" Nathan exclaimed.

"Wait, what? No, I'm not doing that," I protested.

"Daddy, remember, you promised," Nathan said sternly, "and like you taught me, a man, especially a leader, should always keep his words and promises.

"You've got to be kidding me," I said, glaring at Marcus. "Did you put him up to this, Marc?" I asked, still glaring. Marcus avoided eye contact, scanning the room. "I'll kill you, Marcus," I threatened, furious.

"Alpha, please," Marcus implored, his eyes filled with genuine concern, "you've been down and out of character lately. As your best friend and beta, it's my duty to look after you."

"Is this your idea of looking after me?" I asked incredulously, despite sensing his good intentions. Sighing defeatedly, I instructed Marcus, "Inform some pack members we'll be going out tonight."

Nathan leapt from my lap, bouncing around the room. "Don't fall, Champ! Be careful."

....

We arrived at the party Marcus suggested, and upon entering, I was immediately overwhelmed by the cacophony of sounds and the putrid mix of alcohol, sweat, and arousal. I couldn't bear it, so I stepped outside and wandered into the woods, seeking solace.

A captivating scent wafted through the air, drawing me deeper into the forest. My heart racing, I felt an inexplicable sense of déjà vu. As I walked, the aroma grew stronger, guiding me to a clearing. The view took my breath away. That's when I saw her – the source of the intoxicating scent.

"Hey there," I said. She turned, and our eyes met. Her gaze was like a gentle breeze on a summer day, soothing and calming. Deucalion, my wolf, erupted in a frenzy of "mate, mate, mate" in my mind.

"How is this possible?" I wondered, stunned. "Is this why you've been acting strange, Deu? "She's exquisite, Scott," Deucalion said in my mind. "Her eyes are the most captivating I've ever seen."

"Yes, she is," I agreed, "but you still haven't answered my question. How is this possible? Did you know about her? Is this why you've been restless?"

"I don't know how this is possible, and I didn't know about her," Deucalion replied in my mind. "I just sensed something significant was about to happen, which explains my strange behavior."

I approached, extending my hand. "My name is Scott Edward, milady. What's your beautiful name?" I asked calmly. She shook my hand, and the familiar sparks flew between us. Deucalion growled softly in my head, acknowledging the mate bond.

But then, she spoke words that shattered my heart: "I, Jasmine Coker, reject you, Alpha Scott Edward, as my mate." Before I could process the rejection, she turned and left. I stood there, frozen in shock.

The loss of two mates in a lifetime were more than I could bear. First, Jocelyn, my first mate and Nathaniel's mother, passed away during childbirth. Now, my second chance mate, Jasmine, had rejected me seconds after we met. The pain was overwhelming. I let out a sorrowful howl, unable to contain my anguish. Memories of Jocelyn's passing flooded my mind and I couldn't help but wonder if I was destined for loneliness

JASMINE'S POV

I collapsed onto my bed, exhausted but my mind refused to be quiet. I couldn't shake off Scott's piercing gaze and the sparks that flew between us. My heart felt like it had been stabbed, and the pain was unbearable.

I didn't know if I regretted rejecting him or not, but it felt like the right decision at the time. I couldn't go through another hellish experience with an Alpha.

My phone's ringtone jolted me awake, and I was surprised to find tears streaming down my face. Raymond's frantic voice on the phone made me wince. "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED, JASMINE KATHERINE COKER?" he yelled.

"I told you I hate the name, Katherine, and nothing happened," I said, trying to calm him down. "The party just wasn't helping, and I felt sick, so I came home."

"AND YOU COULDN'T TELL ME ANYTHING?" he yelled again. I winced at the volume. "I searched for you everywhere, Raymond, and couldn't find you, which is why I sent you a message. Please stop yelling; I have a bad headache."

Raymond's tone softened. "I was worried, Jas. I thought something happened to you. Do you want me to come over?" It's late, Ray. You can come over later, alright?" I said weakly. Raymond hesitated before agreeing. "Alright, take care, Jas." He hung up.

Tears continued to fall, I felt a pang of sadness, wondering if I'd made a mistake by rejecting Scott Frustrated and overwhelmed, I let out a sob, surrendering to my emotions.

Chapter 3 SCOTT'S POV

SCOTT'S POV

As I stood there, my pack members rushed to my side, their faces etched with concern. They bowed, and I sensed their worry through the mind link.

"What happened, Alpha?" Marcus asked, his voice laced with worry.

I sighed, feeling defeated. "Let's just go home."

But Marcus persisted, "Buh, Alpha, we're all worried. Why did you howl sorrowfully? This happened only once before, when Luna Jocelyn passed away."

Hearing Jocelyn's name brought back painful memories, and I whimpered. I tried to compose myself, using my Alpha tone to leave no room for argument. "Let's just go home."

We returned to the pack, and as I entered the Alpha's house, I saw Nathan waiting up for me.

"Daddy!" Nathan called out, running towards me.

I picked him up and placed him on my waist. "Why aren't you asleep, champ? It's very late."

Nathan's small voice replied, "I couldn't sleep, Daddy. I was waiting for you to come put me to sleep."

I carried Nathan to his room, gently placed him on his bed, and tucked him under the duvet. Sitting on the edge, I softly stroked his cheek, and he yawned, gazing up at me sleepily.

"Are you okay, Daddy?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm fine, champ," I reassured him. "Now sleep tight." I stood, kissed his forehead, and whispered, "I love you, champ."

As I turned to leave, Nathan's faint voice called out, "Daddy?" I turned back, and our eyes met.

"I love you, Daddy," he murmured, before succumbing to sleep. I smiled warmly and exited the room.

In my office, I found Marcus waiting.

I sat down and dove into paperwork, hoping to avoid Marcus's inquiring gaze.

"Scott, what's going on?" Marcus asked, concern etched in his voice. "Can't you see I'm busy, Marc?" I replied, attempting to deflect.

"No, you're not busy, you're just avoiding my question," Marcus countered. I sighed, defeated. "What's your question, Marc?"

"What happened back there? You got us all worried," Marcus pressed. I hesitated before revealing, "I met my mate."

Marcus's eyes widened. "What? Met your mate? Luna Jocelyn is alive" I shook my head. "Not Jocelyn, my second-chance mate."

"Second-chance mate?" Marcus repeated, confusion written across his face. "What does that even mean?"

"A second chance at having another mate," I clarified.

Marcus's eyes sparkled with intrigue. "Wait, that myth is real? How is that possible?" I shrugged. "I don't know, but it seems the myth is real."

Marcus nodded, accepting. "Okay, but why are you down? Shouldn't you be excited? This doesn't happen every day."

"She rejected me," I said, sorrow seeping into my voice.

Marcus's expression turned sympathetic, and he remained silent for a few seconds before asking, "But why? Had you met before and she didn't like you? Or is she already with someone?"

I shook my head. "We haven't met before, I don't know if she has someone... and she's human."

Marcus's eyes widened in shock. "She's human?! What the...? How did she even know to reject you?"

"I'm just as confused as you, Marc," I admitted. "But I need your help. Her name is Jasmine Coker, and it seems she lives around here. Get me everything you can on her."

Marcus nodded, determination etched on his face. "Yes, Alpha." He bowed and departed on his mission.

a

JASMINE'S POV

For the first time in a long while, I decided to take my sleek, red Rolls-Royce out for a spin. I adore my car, but I'm often too lazy to drive it, having only taken it out about five times since I got it a year ago.

My parents and I have a complicated relationship, but when it comes to money, they're always generous. Honestly, that's the only thing that matters to me. They don't call or show interest in my life; their priority is their job. Whenever we argue about this, they say, "We work to provide for you, don't be ungrateful." I don't want this kind of relationship with my future children.

As I got into the car, my phone started ringing. To my surprise, it was my mom. "Hello, Katherine," she said over the phone. I chose not to respond, as I've never liked the name Kate.

"Hello, Katherine, are you there?" she said loudly, trying to get my attention. When I still didn't respond, she said, "I know you can hear me, Jasmine."

"Hi, Mother," I responded, my tone neutral. "You still haven't gotten over this dislike for your name, Jasmine? I thought you grew up," she said, a hint of disapproval in her voice.

"What do you want, Mother?" I snapped, unintentionally letting my frustration show. "Be careful with the tone, young lady," she snapped back.

I sighed, tired of the conversation already. "Please, just say what you have to say."

"I don't know where I went wrong in raising you, but I know I tried my best. You're just too difficult," she said dramatically.

I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "Tried your best, indeed."

"What was that, Jas?" she asked, her voice sharp. I was close to hanging up, but I asked again, "What do you want, Mother?"

"Your Father and I are hosting a ball, and you need to be there. No excuses," she said sternly.

"I can't make it. I have exams coming up," I said, scrunching my face in frustration.

"Don't worry, doll. According to your schedule, you should be done with exams in three weeks. The ball is in a month," she said, her voice dripping with smugness.

"How did you even get a hold of my schedule? That's so creepy!" I yelled, outraged.

"Watch your language, Jas. And getting my hands on your schedule was easy. Bye, doll," she said, hanging up. I hit my head on the steering wheel repeatedly, fuming.

I started the car, fury fueling my movements, and drove aimlessly, unsure of my destination. Somehow, I ended up back at the same woods.

"Oh shit, not again!" I exclaimed, frustration boiling over. My mind raced, and my breath quickened as I struggled to process my emotions. Sleep had become elusive, and peace of mind seemed an unattainable luxury.

I pulled over and stepped out of the car, drawn to the serene view. The tranquil atmosphere enveloped me, and for a moment, my turmoil subsided.

Just as I began to unwind, I sensed a presence behind me. Without turning, I knew who it was.

I turned around and met the gaze of a beautiful and concerned young man

"Raymond, what are you doing here?" I asked.

"I've been worried about you," he said, his voice low and laced with remorse. "You're not telling me anything, so I came to your place earlier to talk. When I saw you leave, I followed quietly. Sorry for stalking you."

His words warmed my heart, despite my current turmoil. "Thanks for worrying about me," I said, genuinely grateful. "I know I should tell you everything, but there's just too much going on."

Raymond's expression softened. "Let's grab some drinks and talk at my place?" I nodded, needing someone to confide in. "Alright then."
