ARRDE
"Sign these and let's get done with it," Myron flung the divorce papers to my face scowling. I stared hard at him in disbelief unsure of what hard crime I had committed to be treated brutally like this.
"What do you mean, Myron? What papers?" I asked him, my voice trembling in panic at the reality that just faced me.
"We are done, Arrde. I want you no more, so f***ing sign these and get out of my life! Get lost!" He bellowed rashly.
I knew he wasn't joking... "Give me some time, I'll get it done." I pleaded.
I've always known Alpha Myron to be an arrogant and ruthless man, but when he picked me to be his mate and marked me, the reality of it was more unreal to me.
"Fine!" He said dragging his feet along as he slammed my room door behind him.
I collapsed on my bed reminiscing on how everything went wrong because I've been a submissive mate to him and pledged my loyalty to the Purple Tide Pack from the day he marked me as his property.
****TWO YEARS AGO****
"Arrde, it's time for the ball. You should be there, remember, the Alpha sent you a special invitation." My mom called out from the kitchen.
"But mom!" I grumbled. I had no intentions of going to the ball because I didn't want to be mated to any of my kind and I didn't like how ruthless Alpha Myron was.
"Shhhh, no buts..." My mom hushed me.
"I don't want to have anything to do with Alpha Myron, he's ruthless and I'm not even up to his standard." I protested.
"Do you want his aides to hear you?" My mom asked looking worried.
"Aides?!" I asked almost screaming.
"Yes..." My mom answered whispering, "They're outside, they've been waiting for you."
" Tell them I'm sick, or find something more convincing to say." I pleaded.
" I can't lie to them, I told them you were ready."
" Mom! "
" Alpha Myron, might turn out to not be your mate. Just go, you know it would be rude to stay away after receiving an invitation." my mom said. What she said was the truth, it could ruin my family.
"Jeez!" I yelled.
That's how I ended up at the mating ball. I didn't want to argue with my mom because Myron's aides were there already and it would've complicated things.
I kept praying that Myron would not choose me as his mate, but things don't always work out the way we want them to and that's how I became Myron's mate. He never announced me as his Luna and never treated me like one but he was sweet to me anytime he was thirsty for my body.
I've never resisted his numerous cruel attempts to satisfy his thirst because my mom made me promise to be a submissive mate to my Alpha. At sixteen, I was yet to shift therefore the wolves discriminated against me and never wanted to have anything to do with me.
****BACK TO THE PRESENT****
My dad died when I was six, he was killed by the wolf hunters when he went for a hunt with Myron's father who was the Alpha at that time and I miss him so damn much. My mother for the fear of not being able to protect me forced me to accept Myron's invitation and become his mate, luckily I got to shift after I got mated to Myron but I've kept it a secret from him for two years I was hoping to surprise him on the next full moon.
Still tossing on my bed confused and worried... I was hoping to find a way to sort out the situation at hand and maybe talk to Myron to change his mind about the divorce.
"Why don't you find out what has gone wrong? Alpha Myron doesn't adore you, neither does he detest you, so there's a reason he's pushing for divorce." Siella my wolf said in my head.
" You're right, Siella." I agreed and jumped up excited but without a plan.
Humming one of my favourite songs, I could feel the chilly sensation caressing my skin gently while having my bath in the shower. I let out a soft sigh as my thoughts drifted to Myron and how gently he handles me in bed.
"You're being crazy!!" Siella said.
"Shhh, stop distracting me." I pleaded because I was enjoying the moment.
"You're silly, Arrde. Myron is divorcing you at any moment from now, instead of plotting a way to stop him you're lost in your imagination." She said again in my head.
The truth stared dead in the face and I forced myself to swallow my saliva like it was a bitter pill. I blocked her off my head and left the bathroom in my flip-flops which padded the floor softly and slowly, its fluffiness making me feel lightheaded.
I dropped my robe to feel my cold skin... "What if Myron forces me to sign the divorce papers tonight without giving me a chance to talk to him about it? That means I'll be thrown out of his mansion." Those thoughts sent cold shivers down my spine and I trembled.
I felt a touch and spun to see who the culprit was and our eyes met, it was Myron and I just stood there naked before him. Myron only stared at me with raised brows...
"I... Uh... I was trying to... I mean I just..."
"Save it." Myron bawled cutting me off mid-way.
My face was red hot in embarrassment and I was speechless.
"Get yourself on the bed, I want to have a taste of you tonight," He said pulling off his pants.
Before I could process the whole scenario, Alpha Myron pranced on me like I was a hoe or a total stranger. I just lay on the bed watching him do his thing to satisfy himself without caring if I was enjoying it too.
I hate myself for dropping my robe and for all of those naughty thoughts that I had about him... I let out a frustrated moan which was more like a sigh.
Satisfied, he pulled away from me, dragged his pants on and walked out without giving a f*ck!
I laid on my bed weak and hungry but felt too lazy to get myself something to eat. I closed my eyes and forced myself to sleep...
"Siella, let's forget about everything and have sweet dreams tonight," I told my wolf and drifted off to sleep.
I'll think about the worst tomorrow...
ARRDE
Rubbing my eyes to clear the drowsiness, my eye caught the divorce papers on the desk and I ignored it throwing a glance through the window. I didn't want to ruin my morning, but it was ruined already.
I forced my jeans on my slippery legs and paused... "When did my legs become more hairy?" I wondered rubbing my palms on my silky skin, I've become more skinnier than I was.
I picked up my velvet turtle neck and thrust it to my skin wriggling my hands to get it down... Dressing up in the morning is always such a hassle that I never wish to do it. Myron crossed my mind as I padded down the stairs, I was reminded of our first night together when I passed his room and got splashed by the rosy scent of his cologne...
"Damn, he's such a hottie but a mean jerk," I mumbled.
"Did I hear you call my name just now?" He asked over my shoulder, his breath brushed past me. I gulped a large chunk of saliva down my oesophagus.
"Hi, Myron." I greeted waving at him like a kindergartner.
He ignored me and walked out.
I just dragged my arm down and pretended like nothing happened to avoid staying on the lips of the maids throughout the day. Still, some were whispering while looking suspiciously at me. It's not a new thing because I've been going through this phase every day.
I just smiled sheepishly at them and walked away.
********************
Mom was with her friends peeling onions when I walked in unannounced, I sweep a "Hi" across and walked inside because I didn't want to answer any of their questions.
"Arrde, why do you look so gloomy?" My mom asked as she dropped the basket of peeled onions on the floor.
"Where are your friends?" I returned a question.
"They're gone. I sensed that you were not in a good mood so I asked them to leave..." She paused and walked closer to have a better view of me, "Are you feeling well? Is there something bothering you that you would want to talk about?"
I wish that I could tell her about the divorce papers, but it would only add to her worries and that's not what I want for her. I looked away from her and smiled trying to look alright.
" I'm fine. Don't worry about me, Alpha Myron is taking good care of me."
She smiled, "That's so sweet of him. Take some of these fresh cabbages home and treat him to a nice meal, my regards to him."
"I'll do that some other time." I said, "I've got somewhere else to be and I'll be returning late."
Somehow she knew something was wrong from the way she stared suspiciously at me, but I tried as hard as I could to sound okay.
"I'm leaving... Bye."
I didn't have anywhere else to go, so I decided to take a walk down the streets to unwind and probably reach a decision. My phone rang...
"Where were you?" Myron barked the moment I stepped inside my room.
"I went to visit my mom. She sent her regards..."
"Have you signed those papers?"
"Not yet... We need to talk, Myron."
" Talk about what, Arrde? "
" About us... Are you giving up on us already? It has been just two years and you've grown on me. Are you saying you were never serious with me? "
" There's nothing between both of us and I'm not feeling anything for you, Arrde."
" But... "
" Sign those papers, my lawyer will get them from you tomorrow. " Myron spilled and shut the door behind him.
I wanted to go after him, but I will later when he is calm. I fell on my bed and drifted off to sleep.
The sound of my alarm woke me up. I checked the time and it was late into the night. I slept that long and forgot about dinner, so I'll just get myself a hot chocolate drink and then talk to Myron in his room.
My palms felt warm from the sizzling heat emanating from the glass filled with hot chocolate drink while I dragged my feet upstairs memorizing the right words to use on Myron to avoid displeasing him.
"Why is she still here?"
I paused immediately to process the voice I just heard.
"She'll be gone soon, I ordered her to sign the divorce papers and deliver it to my lawyer in the morning," Myron replied in his hoarse voice.
The voice sounded familiar... I nearly burst into his room to confront both of them, but I restrained myself to be sure of who I was dealing with.
" Arrde is my best friend, but I can't stand her anymore. I detest her." The familiar voice spoke up again.
My feet felt numb when I heard those words come out from someone I considered my best friend... So, Percy is the reason Myron is pushing for a divorce.
Reality struck me when I realized that Myron was cheating on me with Percy. I tried hard to fight back the tears welling up in my eyes as I clenched my teeth and tightened my fist to control the anger and pain that was burning within me.
"Stop thinking about her... Let's talk about us." Myron said and I heard both of them giggle. He was probably cuddling her.
Regaining consciousness from the shock I felt and the stinging pain of the hot chocolate drink that spilt on my feet, I ran to my room for solace. The tears were gone, but my heart was shredded into tiny bits.
I heard a knock on my door, it was Myron knocking consistently.
"Arrde, open up!" He ordered.
I ignored him and lay face down on my bed but he teleported himself inside and walked to my bedside, "Why did you eves drop on my conversation with Percy?" He asked.
"We'll talk about this later, I'm tired and don't have the energy to say anything right now," I replied.
He grabbed me by the wrist and dragged me up, "There's no later, you do as I say!"
"Let go of my wrist, you barbarian!" I yelled at him for the first time in my entire life.
" Did you just yell at me? " Myron asked taken aback.
" I can do that again."
" Not in my house, I'm your Alpha and you must listen to me!"
" Well then, Myron... I'll leave your house for good rather than listen to you or do whatever you want."
I flung the divorce papers at him and left his house that night without looking back. I've had enough in his hands already, so I'll choose my peace over anything else.

FIVE YEARS LATER
"Arrde, I've emailed you a proposal from a potential client. You're meeting with him in the next five minutes to discuss the process." Sara, my assistant said.
" I checked it earlier and I would like to talk about it with the client before approving it."
" Okay, ma'am. "
" Get my things ready."
" Sara, tell me about this client. "
" He's influential and I heard he invests a huge amount in a company depending on how impressed he will be. "
" That's not my business, I have enough to run my company."
" Good morning, Chair lady." Everyone greeted me immediately after I entered the meeting room.
"Good morning, everyone... Let's begin."
"The client is over there," Sara whispered.
" Where? " I asked darting my eyes around.
" The middle person facing the company's PR."
Our eyes met right on time... It was Alpha Myron.
Memories of those harsh words he often spat at me rang continuously. "I love it when you cry!" he would whisper throatily.
Goosebumps.
ARRDE
Immediately our eyes met, the feeling of my blood boiling circulated through my veins igniting pain once more. The feelings I thought had been left behind six years ago were renewed the moment Alpha Myron appeared in my life again, memories I had long forgotten flooded back as I sat still wondering why we had to meet again and right here in the meeting room.
The management team leader had been talking for approximately thirty minutes, but none of what she said made sense to me, because there was no reason I could work with Myron. Still flabbergasted, my thoughts had journeyed farther as I was in the process of racking my brain for a solution to get out of this mess.
Sara tapped my shoulder lightly and I jerked back to reality. I don't know how many minutes I had spaced out in the middle of the meeting but trust me, its the first time such a thing has happened to me and I know who had me like that. Urrgh!
"Ma'am, you were spaced out for quiet a long time Should the management team repeat what they said earlier?"
That damned voice made my skin crawl, it was Myron's and I hated myself for sitting in there with him in the first place.
I threw him a do not provoke me kind of glare, only if eyes could stab, I would have stabbed him a million times with mine.
"The team is done with the presentation," Sara answered gesturing towards the screen.
"Oh! There's no need for that anymore I paused to read Myron's expression but he sat there as calm as ever, one of the things I disliked about him, I no longer care about this anymore, Mr Myron we're cancelling plans of partnering with you." I blurted and walked out of the meeting room without hesitation.
"Myron, we should never have met in this life," I said staring at one of his pictures on my phone.
Memories of how I left the pack that was home to me on that cold nights walked through my head like the hot summer breeze slowly hurting me. I was broken that night and it would have been worse if my mom had seen me, so I ran away with no destination in my mind.
It dawned on me the next morning that I was in Los Angeles, far from home with nothing on me except the dress I wore to flee. Sigh.
"Arrde, you have a call." Sara interrupted.
"A call? From who?"
"A lady, she says she's an acquaintance and would love to speak with you about something important."
"I don't have an acquaintance. Tell her I'm busy."
"Okay, ma'am. "
I've been stressed out today, and don't want anything more complicated. I need to clear my head.
I rested my head on the car's head rest, closed my eyes and sighed. "I need a break seriously."
The rays of sunlight kissed my skin as I peeled my eyes to behold the sneering gaze of the daylight. Sighs. It's morning again.
I checked my phone, and a message read: I'LL BE BACK BY NOON.
A strong wave of relief washed over me. Alex, my roommate and partner would be back. My stomach building the feels of butterfly within at the mere thought of seeing the one person I can rely on around.
A text message from Sara interrupted the moment. YOU'LL BE LATE FOR THE MEETING.
Oh. It's Friday, and I have a board meeting to attend.
I hurriedly prepared.
"What's next?" I asked Sara who was behind me and practically running to catch up with my pace.
"Nothing else. It's just that you have a dinner party to attend with the Aurora Pack."
"Call them. Inform them about my absence."
Before Sara could spit another word, I was out of her sight.
"Hi, Alex." I greeted from the receiver end.
"Hey, sweetie. How's it going with you?"
" I've been stressed and now I'm exhausted."
With one hand still in the phone, I grabbed my car keys, packed some important stuffs that I would need to go through over the weekend, with my already full hand I snatched my bag and walked out of the office.
"Hey, I'll call you back when I get in the car."
"Cool. What would you like for dinner?" Alex asked over the phone.
"How about a date? I need to get some air and cool off my head."
"Sure. I'll text you the location." He said and we hung up.
I dialed Sara's number.
"Ma'am..."
" Sara, make sure everyone is out. Don't forget to call me when you get home, we have things to discuss."
" Yes, ma'am. I called the..."
" Enjoy your weekend, Sara." I intentionally interrupted and hung up. I'm fade up with the demands of the Aurora Pack.
I glanced at the picture of me and Alex on my phone screen and smiled. Alex has been my backbone since the day I met him, he saved me from thugs that night that I was nearly raped.
****FLASHBACK****
I lived in the streets of Los Angeles for almost a year, moving from one part time job to another for survival. Gangsters would bully me and take away everything I worked for in a day, so out of frustration and as a mean of survival I dated a gangster. Eric was his name.
At first it was cool, he was the most dangerous and meanest gangster and the leader of all the gang, but he took care of me and sometimes he would take me on their adventures but one day he caught me drunk kissing a guy at the bar and that was the end of the story.
I tried explaining things to him about how I was forced to drink and since I'm bad at holding my liquor, I got drunk and the rest happened so fast that I could barely recall the whole incident when I woke up.
Eric refused to listen to all my explanations and please even when he saw the truth, he had warned me not to work at the bar, yet I went ahead to work there and that night he happened to be there with his friends. We broke up, but he would always sneak into my shabby room at nights when he's drunk to threaten me. Other gang members used the opportunity to take out their hate on me.
One night, he came in drunk as usual with a few other guys and I was busy sleeping when I felt a hand touch me. I woke up to see myself surrounded by drunk and mean looking guys, so I panicked and ran out of the room while they all chased me.
I got caught as I tripped and fell. While struggling to be freed from their grip, a car pulled over and they scampered for safety thinking it was the police. Alex saved me that night, but he has never asked me what happened neither does he know the full story because the last time he tried asking I bluntly shut him off.
"We shouldn't have met, not now, not ever." I kept muttering with quivering lips.
