Alaric Montgomery is a woman-hater, heartless, and an arrogant playboy. The word 'marriage' isn't in his vocabulary. However, because of a letter and Zephyrine Calista's grandmother's last will and testament, he found himself in a chaotic situation. He needed to marry her, and that didn't sit well with his system. With no other options in mind, he made a deal with the woman. But Alaric didn't expect that it would lead them to a private room. How could he escape the situation? Would he be able to turn away from the woman who first made him experience a unique kind of happiness? And what if one day he wakes up realizing he loves Zephy, but someone else already owns her, his own twin brother, Leopold Montgomery?

Chapter 1 Ravenshaw quadruplets!

Zephy had never had the chance to meet her parents as she grew up in the squatters. However, at the age of seventeen, her life took an unexpected turn. An elderly woman helped her and brought her to London, where she was sent to school and provided with everything she needed in exchange for staying by the woman's side.

On the day the elderly woman passed away, her family lawyer spoke to Zephy about her last will and testament. It was almost unbelievable that all the properties had been put in her name. However, there was a condition attached. Zephy had to return to New York to find one of the Ravenshaw quadruplets, Alaric Ravenshaw.

At the age of twenty-three, she was supposed to marry this man and have a child with him. The last will stipulated that she could only inherit everything once she turned twenty-six. If the conditions were not met within the specified time frame, everything would go to charity. The lawyer handed Zephy a sealed envelope, instructing her not to open it until she had fulfilled the conditions in the last will.

Five years later,

"Welcome to JFK Airport," echoed several times over the plane's PA system as Zephy arrived from London to New York.

As instructed by the lawyer, she headed straight to the domestic airport to check in. Zephy had a connecting flight to Ithaca, followed by a boat ride to Ravenshaw Private Resorts. She couldn't afford to waste any time because her time was limited to accomplish the mission.

Zephy repeatedly tried to figure out the best approach to the man. She had no idea who he was or what he looked like. All she had was his address and full name. She woke up from the flight attendant's announcement. They were about to land on Ithaca Island, one of the famous beaches in New York. Zephy smiled as she felt the cool breeze on her face as they disembarked the plane.

She wore a simple white loose shirt and rubber shoes, with shades covering her face and her long hair cascading down, some strands framing her face. After retrieving her two average-sized luggage bags, she exited the arrival area. Zephy couldn't understand the man who approached her. So, she decided to ask if he understood some Local language or English since she knew Ithaca was part of Greece.

"Can you speak Greek or English please?"

"Ah, yes, Ma'am, I mean, where is your destination?"

Zephy turned to look at him because of the oddity of his question.

"I'm alone, Mister, and I'm going to Ravenshaw Private Resorts."

"Sorry, Ma'am. Please come with me. You need to take a boat to get there."

"Okay, can you send me there, please?"

He didn't reply but nodded in response. He silently escorted her to the location. Once he had delivered her to the boat and she had paid, Zephy was overwhelmed with gratitude to God. A crew member greeted her.

"Welcome, Miss," he said with a broad smile, radiating warmth as he welcomed her.

"Thank you. By the way, how long is the trip?" She asked.

"It's more than an hour, Ma'am," he replied, smiling and remaining quiet for the duration of the journey.

...

Zephy couldn't understand why she felt so nervous. She kept wondering what the man would look like. Was he young or old, kind or gruff, handsome or ugly? She shook her head, scolding herself for overthinking. All she needed was for him to agree to marry her so she could claim the fortune left to her. An hour later, they arrived safely at their destination. She gaped at the beauty of the place; it felt like paradise.

"It's a paradise! Oh my God, this is heaven," she exclaimed.

She almost forgot her two pieces of luggage, but the crew member called her back to get her luggage. She hurriedly dragged her bags, thanking him before turning away. But someone else approached her and asked. She mentally slapped herself as if she was about to go through an interview before reaching her destination.

"Excuse me, Miss. Who are you, and what do you need?"

She looked around because she was alone, but it felt like she had a crowd with her based on the way the man questioned her.

"Excuse me, are you talking to me? Because I'm alone, and yeah, I want to check in here for some important matter."

"Sorry, Ma'am, but this resort is private and does not accept outsiders unless you are a friend or family of the owner."

She felt embarrassed by what he said.

"I mean, I know the owner of this resort, Mister. I want to stay here because of Mr. Alaric Ravenshaw."

However, before the man could respond, his boss suddenly appeared, and just his voice alone was intimidating.

"Who are you?!"

She became nervous and pale upon hearing his deep, and thunderous voice. Perhaps he was angry at her for trespassing into the resort. Maybe the staff was right, and outsiders weren't welcome here. Nevertheless, she needed to stay strong because she had a mission, and that's why she was there.

She slowly turned to face the man, even though she was scared, and forced herself to stand her ground, despite his intimidating seriousness. In her mind, it didn't matter because her mission was more important.

"I said who are you?" he asked once again. That baritone voice.

She had to muster up her courage and put on a brave face. She couldn't let this all go to waste and the reason why she was there.

"Hi, I'm Zephyrine. I-i j-just want to check in h-here," her voice quivered.

"Leave! This resort is exclusive for Family. As my staff mentioned, outsiders are not allowed here!" He turned his back on her and took big steps away from where she stood.

"Please allow me in. I-I don't know anyone else here!" she shouted.

"I don't care! Now leave!" he retorted, yelling, and quickly left.

She was about to say more, but the man was already far away. She felt like crying in her situation. She was left standing alone while her eyes scanned the beach. Darkness was falling, and she began to wonder where she would sleep. That man was heartless. She had no choice but to retrace her steps to where she left her suitcase. She pulled it along and started walking away from that place.

She walked through the area, looking around. She hoped to find some shelter for the night, even if only for that evening. But almost thirty minutes of walking, she found no place. She felt exhausted, having come straight from London without rest. She hadn't eaten or slept yet, and tears welled up in her eyes. Wasn't she loved by God at all? She had suffered and struggled since childhood. She had briefly experienced comfort when the lady brought her to London at the age of Seventeen. Now, she was back to her old life. She had some money, but it was just enough, and she had to be frugal.

It was almost pitch black, and she could barely see her surroundings. She decided to sit on a rock and began arranging her luggage. She hoped there were no bad people around because this was a private resort. She thought it would be safe. She opened her backpack and took out her phone, but to her dismay, there was no signal in the area.

As it got colder, she opened one of her suitcases and pulled out something to keep herself warm. She didn't have a jacket because the climate in New York was warm. She hadn't expected things to turn out this way. She wiped away her tears, thinking about where she could sleep. She considered herself lucky that there didn't seem to be any malicious people around. She decided to lie down on a large stone and used her backpack as a pillow.

She was awakened by heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. She didn't know where to go. Her tears welled up again, and she felt hopeless. Suddenly, she heard a noise. She stood up, and in the distance, she saw someone carrying a flashlight. She shouted and asked for help. Her spirits were lifted when she saw them approaching in her direction.

The flashlight was pointed towards her, but her heart sank when she heard what they said.

"Wow, jackpot! She's all alone, and she's pretty."

She shivered in fear upon hearing this and immediately started running away from them.

She thought she was safe when suddenly she tripped and fell. She didn't have time to react as the men chasing her quickly caught up.

"Please, have mercy!"

"Shut up, your voice is hurting my ears!"

She screamed as the two men grabbed her. They were yelling at each other as the rain poured down, making it hard to hear who would have their way first.

She still tried to resist, but she couldn't do anything.

Chapter 2 You're not the woman!

The leader immediately loomed over her naked body. She tried to resist, but she was helpless against the strength of the men. Her voice was almost hoarse from shouting, especially when they tried to force her legs apart.

"Please! Have mercy!" She shouted the word 'mercy' several times, but it fell on deaf ears.

Then she felt something strike her stomach. Before she lost consciousness, she called out the name of the young man who was the reason why she was in that place. His name was the last thing she yelled before everything went dark.

Meanwhile, Alaric and one of his staff members couldn't immediately get down from the speedboat due to the heavy rain.

"You go ahead, and I'll take care of the boat," he instructed the man.

"Are you sure, boss?" the man asked, double-checking.

"Yeah, go!" he urged him again.

Once Alaric had tied the speedboat, he quickly left the area. He had quite a distance to cover because they had disembarked far from there, the only suitable place due to the low tide in front of the resorts. He suddenly stopped when he heard a scream and scanned his surroundings. However, the scream did not repeat, so he continued walking.

"Please! Have mercy!"

This time, the scream was louder, and he couldn't afford to make a mistake; it was a woman's voice. He was only a few steps away from where the scream came from. When suddenly there was a flash of lightning and a light shone on the men who were gathered together.

"F*ck!"

Another lightning flash revealed a woman who was undressed and being fought over by several men. Without wasting a moment, he ran toward them. He delivered swift kicks and punches to the four men, catching them off guard. Lightning flashed again, and the men scattered in all directions and suddenly they ran away. He wanted to chase after them, but he needed to attend to the woman first.

"Sh*t!" he cursed as he examined her appearance. Covered in sand, her body was exposed, including her private parts. He quickly took off his jacket and wrapped it around the unconscious woman's body. Without hesitation, he lifted her and almost ran the distance to reach the resorts. She needed immediate first aid since there were still no signs of her waking up. The other staff on duty at that late hour looked at him with curiosity, wondering who the woman he was carrying could be.

He brought the woman to his room and gently laid her on the large bed. He paused as he looked at her face. "Oh, God! She is the woman from earlier, f*ck!" He blamed himself because if he had accepted her earlier, she wouldn't be in this situation. She wouldn't have suffered such violence. He felt guilty for his heartlessness. He wasn't like this before, but because of the deception by the first woman he ever loved, he harbored anger towards women.

Alaric couldn't help but gaze at her entire body, her body covered in sand and her private parts exposed. It stirred a peculiar warmth within him, making him want to scold himself for lusting after a woman in such a situation. But he couldn't help but look at her long legs. He wasn't usually affected by naked women, but the woman lying on his soft bed was affecting him differently. So, he hurriedly left the room and made a call.

"Come to my room and bring something a woman can wear."

He also called a staff member.

"Go to the beach, near the rocks, and find that woman's luggage. Bring it up here."

"Yes, Boss."

Alaric lifted the woman and brought her into the bathroom. He submerged her body in warm water and applied shower gel. He worked quickly, and just as he was finishing cleaning her body, she suddenly regained consciousness. She became hysterical, screaming and thrashing.

"Please, have mercy, don't! No!" she cried out loudly.

He felt a pang of pity for the woman and hugged her tightly.

"Shhh, you're safe now," he reassured her. He wanted to let her know that she was safe from those people who had tried to take advantage of her.

Zephy felt a sense of security in that voice and immediately embraced her savior.

"Please help me," she sobbed.

Automatically, Alaric raised his hand to stroke her hair. He was a woman hater, but he wasn't that heartless to leave her alone.

"Shhh, don't cry," he comforted her. It was the first time he'd ever done such a thing, except for the woman he had once loved deeply, who now belonged to someone else.

When the woman had calmed down, he slowly moved her away from his body.

"Y-you?" Zephy stuttered, realizing who her savior was. She didn't know which part of her face to cover first. Her face turned red as she quickly averted her gaze. She couldn't meet the eyes with their light green gaze fixed on her.

"Follow me, and your wound will be treated," Alaric said to the woman who was looking down. He quickly left the bathroom because his body was heating up.

But nearly ten minutes had passed, and the woman still hadn't come out. This reignited his annoyance, and he shouted:

"Hey, woman, come out! Or else I will come inside, and you will never want to see what I'll do to you, woman!"

Zephy immediately grabbed the bathrobe hanging inside. She was sure it belonged to the guy. She didn't care if he got angry. She had no other choice to cover her naked body. It was better than being kicked out again.

"F*CK!" Alaric cursed when she emerged. His desire, which had been simmering since earlier, flared up once more.

When suddenly, the doorbell rang, diverting his attention from what was in front of him, and his gaze shifted towards the door.

"Stay here!" he said firmly and hurriedly went outside.

"Sir, here are the clothes, and by the way, the luggage from the beach is downstairs," his staff outside the door informed him.

"Tell them to bring it here," he answered.

"Yes, Sir," the staff replied.

Once he entered the room, he handed the clothes to the woman.

"Use this to make yourself comfortable."

Meanwhile, Zephy couldn't move right away because the man was still standing in front of her. Perhaps he noticed, so he quickly turned away. However, there were some hushed whispers, just careless whispers, but they still reached her ears.

"You're still shy! I've seen everything!" he whispered.

She chose to ignore his comments and focused on something else. After all, the man was right; he had seen her entire body.

"Come here, and I'll apply some medicine to your wounds," he said a few moments later.

She had no choice but to follow his orders. She was worried that he might get annoyed again and kick her out of the resort. As she approached him, she was mesmerized by his handsomeness, especially his eyes fixed on her lips while applying the medicine.

"Staring at me is a big sin, and there's a high price to pay for it!" he exclaimed.

She swallowed hard upon hearing that, quickly adjusted her sitting position, and looked in a different direction.

After he finished, he moved a bit away from the woman and asked her questions. He wanted to know the truth about why she was at their resort.

"Why are you here? I mean, you know this is a private resort. Why are you here? What do you want?" he asked one after another.

With nothing to hide, Zephy finally said, "I want you to marry me."

"What did you say?" His calm voice heightened. Just because he was taking care of her didn't mean she could just say the word 'marriage' to him. What a jerk!

"That's what's stated in the last will and testament, Mr. Montgomery. You have to marry me so that everything I inherit doesn't go to charity." She kept her head down, possibly afraid of his booming voice, which seemed to echo like thunder and lightning.

"F*ck! What the hell! I'm not crazy enough to marry you! And for your information, 'marriage' is not in my vocabulary! I don't care if any woman talks about marriage; I don't give a damn. No woman has been born yet whom I would marry, especially not you!" He stood up, seething with anger.

"P-please, you're my only hope. I'm willing to give you anything in return, just marry me. After I claim my inheritance, we can file for a divorce," she begged him.

"There's no divorce in New York, and I said NO! You're not the woman I'd give my name to, NEVER! By the way, your luggage is in the adjacent room, and you can leave tomorrow," he answered coldly as he walked away from his own room.

Zephy sat weakly on the carpet, feeling sorry for herself. If she couldn't convince Alaric, she wouldn't get her inheritance. She let out a heavy sigh and stood up, walking towards the room that the young man had indicated.

As the door closed behind Alaric, he couldn't help but glance back at the closed door. He hadn't entirely left the room, just concealed himself. For some unknown reason, he felt a sense of regret wash over him.

"Oh, jerk! Bastard!" he scolded himself. Why was he feeling like this? Frustrated, he hurried to the bar and poured himself a drink.

Meanwhile, in the room Zephy occupied, she paced back and forth, unable to find peace. His words echoed repeatedly in her mind like a broken record. Because of those words, she lost hope of getting her inheritance. She wondered why the late Ondine Lark had set such a condition. What does this have to do with the Montgomery family?

Chapter 3 Are you really trying to seduce me, woman !

Zephy opened her luggage and took out some clothes. She put on a simple t-shirt and shorts. Then, she wore flat sandals and a cap before leaving the room. Her head was pounding from overthinking, so she decided to go out for a while. There were only a few people on duty because it was almost dawn. She headed to the bar in the hopes of temporarily forgetting her problems. The bar was the inside of the resort. There were only a few customers inside, most of them couples. She looked up to the second floor, where there were signs indicating it was a VIP area.

She thought the place was nice, simple yet elegant. She leaned back in her seat and quietly observed her surroundings.

While sitting at the counter, she ordered tequila, hoping it would help her forget the events of the day. Her near-rape experience, which was narrowly avoided thanks to Alaric, still haunted her. She couldn't help but let out a sigh, reflecting on the events of her life in just one day. The man she could have married, handsome as he was, turned out to be cold-hearted and had a terrible personality. It was the first time she had been rejected so brutally, as if she were a disgusting woman, according to his words.

Out of frustration, she drank more than she should have. After two hours, she was starting to feel dizzy, and she realized it was almost three in the morning. She decided to going up since she was tipsy. She stumbled along the wall on her way to the room that had been assigned to her. She tried swiping her card key several times, but the door wouldn't open.

"Damn it! Why won't you open? Are you angry at me too, refusing to let me in? Asshole!" She pounded on the door, but it remained shut. She was about to give up when the door finally opened.

"You, huh? Why are you here? You're so ugly; do you even realize that? Ugh!" She spat out the words at the man who had caused her to return to the country. She had never met someone so rude and unpleasant. It was as if she were a disgusting woman.

But she didn't care, especially since she had been drinking. He had let her use the room, but what was he doing there? Tsk!

"Oh s**t! What the f*ck! What did you drink, and your vomit smells awful!" Alaric grimaced, especially since it splattered onto his chest. She vomited on his broad chest!

Zephy couldn't help but smile at what she heard. She had been drinking, and it wasn't surprising that she was feeling a bit queasy, even though she was just a social drinker. She hadn't expected that the man she was addressing would be the one to make her vomit. Well, he deserved it, considering how rude he had been.

"Hey, man, why are you so grumpy? Maybe you don't have a girlfriend or a sex life, that's why you're so irritable." She taunted him, accompanied by a mischievous laugh.

Alaric couldn't decide whether to be annoyed or amused by her behavior and appearance. Who wouldn't laugh when the woman in front of him looked like she had been in a fight with ten other women? Her face was covered in vomit, and her chest was equally messy as she gave him a lectured.

Despite his irritation, Alaric took care of Zephy. Without hesitation, he undressed her and placed her in the bathtub with lukewarm water. Since he was also covered in vomit, he undressed himself and stood in the shower, cleaning his entire body. He had almost forgotten about the woman in the bathtub when he finished. That's why he was startled when he saw her slowly sinking into the water.

In his hurry, he immediately lifted the woman, whose eyes were still mischievously locked on him. Their naked bodies were pressed together, and he couldn't help but feel a strange sensation, especially from the way she was looking at him...As he took the woman into his bed. Perhaps she was pretending to be drunk to seduce him. With that thought in mind, he suddenly let her go. Fortunately, she was already in front of the bed.

"Ouch! You really have no heart at all! Do you even realize that?" She said as he released her without any remorse, causing her to feel a bit of pain that seemed to penetrate her entire body. She felt a glimmer of hope when he carefully lifted her, but that hope flew away as he let her go. He is heartless indeed!

"Shut up, woman! If I can't control myself, I'll force myself on you!" he yelled at her.

"W-What?!" She stammered as her body landed on the soft bed. She didn't realize that her thighs had parted. How could they not when he suddenly let go of her like a piece of paper?

"Are you really trying to seduce me, woman?!" she heard him growl. But darkness was calling her. She didn't care anymore; she was so sleepy.

Meanwhile, Alaric was momentarily stopped when he saw the girl's even breathing. She had fallen asleep with her mouth slightly open. So that's why she wasn't berating him anymore. He took the opportunity to admire her fully. At that moment, she was utterly captivating, and he would deal with the consequences later.

He lowered his head and kissed her parted lips. His tongue explored her lips, and he heard her moan, making him even more aroused. His desire flared up further due to her reaction. Nothing on her body was spared. He caressed every inch of her. He is kissing and caressing her lustfully. Because of her, he became a pervert instantly. Her loud moans drove him over the edge, and he lost his sanity. He buried his face between her thighs. Her scent intoxicated him, intensifying his desire to possess her.

But when he was about to enter her core, he stood still. Realization hit him hard. He was awakened to what he was doing. Instantly, he left her as he cursed himself.

"Oh, s**t! f*ck!" He cursed himself.

He wanted to slap himself for almost succumbing to her allure. He quickly stood up, went to the closet, and grabbed some clothes. He covered her nudity with a blanket. Then, he took her cardkey and went to her room. He needed to distance himself from her, lest he be tempted again.

"That woman! She thought it was her room she entered! Tsk! I'm almost there!" He gritted his teeth and entered the room assigned to her.

Her luggage was not locked, so he immediately rummaged through it. He didn't usually meddle in other people's belongings, especially someone as important as her. However, he had something he needed to find out. What did he have to do with her that she needed to marry him to get her inheritance? Who was this woman who suddenly appeared at their Montgomery private resort?

He opened a brown envelope and two pictures of him stared back at him. There were other documents, but his attention was drawn to a small sealed white envelope. He wanted to open it, but he hesitated. Instead, he picked up the other papers and began reading them one by one. He paused as he read.

"So, this is the reason why she needs to marry me," he whispered to himself.

To Princess Zephyrine Calista Everly,

Go to New York and find this man and marry him before your twenty-second birthday. I know he is a good man, and I believe that all the assets I'm leaving you won't go to waste. He will be your partner in everything.

Zephy, be careful in everything you do. Take care of yourself. You grew up in hardship and suffering, and your father had no means to introduce you to society. I'm sorry, my dear, for finding you so late. You lived alone for seventeen years, so I tried to make up for your parents' lacking during the five years I spent with you. I know you've never truly been happy.

In a short while, I'll be leaving this world. So, I hope you fulfill the mission I'm leaving you. Everything depends on you because if you don't, you'll go back to your old life, and everything will go to charity. For your future and that of your future children. I know you're a good girl. Your heart is so gentle, and because of your extreme kindness, danger always lurks. Don't trust anyone except that man; you should only trust him. Just trust Alaric Montgomery.
