"stand up,you lazy piece of shit" lucia hissed,looking at me with disgust "can you just leave me alone for once in your god damn life" I yawned, stood up, to look at the antique wall clock in my room "fuck, luuuccciiiiaaa. why the fuck didn't you wake me up" I screamed. "whhhhaaatt" she barked at me "but..b.u..but"she stuttered trying to form her words. "dont but me, I told you to wake me up seven in the morning and it's already ten" lucia left the room as I rushed to the bathroom to brush my teeth

Lucia is my best friend or let me call it personal assistant, she does everything for me. I mean everything, there was a time she disguised herself as me, went to the stupid boring event party that i skipped to see my boyfriend.

You wanna know why I'm in such a haste 'cause i have a date with my boyfriend or i was supposed to have a date with him at the beach by 7am sharp and I'm fucking hours late.

I took my bath and went to my room, my room is not that pretty. It looked as ancient as the whole house it self, everything in this house is probably antique. I took a white off shoulders dress that stopped right at my laps before my knees then I took my brown knee length boots, brushed my dark curly hair that almost reached my buttocks. I didnt want to leave through the front door so I decided to leave my house through the window I do this almost all the time as long as I can avoid my mom and her nagging. I was about to place my second leg to make my jumping easier when I heard my name and I flinched

"fuck" i mumbled as i got down from the window. I was about to close the window when my mom barged in

"Ronita, Roni darling" Eve said I roll my eyes at my mother "Roni baby, I thought you left without saying goodbye or giving me a kiss"

Do not be deceived by my mom, she is a green snake under green grass and I'm very sure she is up to something. She can not be this nice if she did not want something from me. I looked at her dumbstrucked as she snapped me out of my thoughts by pulling my hair.

"ouch....arrrghhg..that hurts aaahhhh" I shrieked loudly from the pain of her dragging me by the hair.

She dragged me downstairs and stopped abruptly. I looked up and saw my dad closing the door, his back faced me and my mom

"what was all the noise about"Salvador said rubbing his ear, immediately I ran up to my dad and hugged him. "dad it was..." I said before mom shut me up saying " it was nothing serious darling your daughter and I were playing an old school game called if you don't give me a kiss I'll drag you by the hair." Lies

I glared at mom knowing how good she was at lying she could win awards for it.

"really, I have never heard of it. You should teach me how to play it sometimes" Salvador said staring at me but I was quiet.

"i need to go to the church. There is a mass today and later I'll go see the children at the orphanage." Eve broke the awkward silence but something in my mind told me she was not going for any mass 'cause i don't believe anything that comes out of her mouth but I shrugged it off.

Eve left glaring at me as if telling me to keep my mouth shut.

"dad, come on. Let's eat."

"okay dear"

After eating i went to my room. I picked up my phone to call Pedro my boyfriend but he didn't pick up. I kept calling and I decided to send a text to him.

"hey love, I'm so sorry I coudnt make it something came up"✉

Then immediately my phone beeped...pedro replied

"okay, okay you got me there. I still wanted to come, until mom showed up. Now dad is around and you know he is strict about letting me go out, his excuse is that he has enemies that would want to hurt me, and you also know he has a beef with the nextdoor ranch"✉

Yeah no worries darling. Could you at least open your window. The heat is killing me"✉

I scrunched up my eyebrows, window? I looked towards the window when I saw the love of my life. I smiled, reaching for the lock.

Eve

"that girl is such a spoilt brat" I mumbled to my self

"hey you, get the car ready. I'm going for the mass at the cathedral " I said to one of the servants who immediately obeyed. I got in the car and left for the mass.

Immediately I got there, the mass had finished. I went inside the church and saw the priest there. He noticed me and nodded coming my way as he got to where i was.

"what have you done again Eve" the priest said staring into my eyes that were filled with hot tears about to drop.

"nothing father. I just miss him so much" I said as he gestured me to sit.

"feel free around me Eve. I'll take it as a confession "

"no father I'm not here to confess. I just want to see them. Father please help me. I need to see them" I pleaded as hot tears dropped freely from my eyes.

Pedro

"My oh my. I waited hours for you pumpkin" I said coming down from the window.

"was that why you didn't answer my calls" Roni said pecking me putting her hands round my neck.

"wow, that's all I get for staying under the sun for hours. I'm not talking to you anymore by the way" I said removing her hands from me and sitting at the edge of her bed.

"ohh really, so what do you want me to do so you could forgive me darling" she said seductively moving closer to me. I smirked at her attempt to seduce me to forgive her.

"uhm hmmm I don't know it depends on you" I paused admiring her features, she giggled.

"I thought you weren't talking to me" she said as she smiled broadly. I then noticed she caught me right in my own game.

"well ...y..yes... but that was.....im not talking ronita" I said trying to cover up, she looked at me right in my eyes piercing through my thoughts.

"so I'm now Ronita, no more pumpkin?" she moved very close to me and we were an inch apart. I could hear her breathe as she kissed me passionately, straddling my laps. It went for minutes as someone barged in. We flinched, moving away from each other.

Lucia

I was at the river swimmimg, trying to take my mind off things. My so called best friend is really a pain in the ass. Like literally, she's so lazy. She does nothing and now she accused me of not waking her up by seven.

Am I suddenly a witch with powers, that I would go miles from where I live just to wake some one up, who is going for a date with a boy, I had a crush on since high school.

That's just impossible and she has the guts to treat me like one of her servants.

'pffftt...what a joke' i mumbled as i stopped swimming and did nothing in the water. I allowed the the water to move me through it's current. Immediately I jerked up as I felt hands on my waist...some one was trying to pull me out of the waters.

We got out of the river and I slapped the person twice without carefully looking.

Unknown

I was horse racing with my friend, Jeremy. When I lost sight of him and his horse, I guessed my speed was too much when I came across a stream. I got down from my horse, took it to the stream to drink a little water when i saw something in the water. I flinched.

'is that a mermaid' I thought to myself.

"But mermaids aren't real, right?" I told Mr Poker, my horse. As if he could reply, then I looked left when i saw another horse tied to a tree not too far away. I wondered, when it dawned on me, it might have been a sucide attempt.

I rushed into the water and dragged the person out of the water, when she landed two resounding slaps on both my cheeks as she quickly turned and ran back her horse. My sight wasn't clear yet but i did realize she wasn't wearing anything. She was stark naked. When I totally regained my sight. She came to me on her horse.

This time she was wearing her dress, when she talked snapping me out of my thoughts.

"are you deaf and dumb. I said you are on a private property" she said waiting for my reply, I didnt give her a reply. Those slaps might have actually reset my brain. When I realized Ihad crossed the line my dad had always told me not to cross, I took three steps back.

"now, I'm on my PROPERTY" exaggerating the word property. She got down from her horse and looked down noticing the line separating the Salvador's ranch from the Crustavo's ranch. The two ranches shared the same boundaries and a river half was for salvador. There has always been a beef between these two ranches, the reason was unknown to me.

Lucia

I noticed he was awkwardly silent which freaked me out. I wondered if my slaps actually caused damage due to the fact that i vented all my anger on him.

"i could get you arrested for trespassing. You know?" I broke the silence.

"I could sue you for assault." He scoffed on hearing him, our eyes met when I noticed he was awfully handsome grey eyes, dark hair, great body, I couldn't stop my self from drooling.

"you must be the daughter of Salvador" he said scoffing in disgust, I was about telling him I wasn't Salvador's daughter when a guy on a horse came shouting.

"Andrew, where've you been. I thought I got lost for a second there" he said looking at me.

Andrew

I saw Jeremy get down from the horse, he came close to me and noticed the girl in front of me.

"Who's the hot chic" he mumbled lowly to me and i scoffed. He looked at her, stretched his hands trying not to cross the boundary. She stretched her hands accepting the shake but Jeremy went further to kiss her hand. I rolled my eyes at his attempt to act like the gentleman, he isn't. She blushed, wait 'did she just blush' I asked myself.

"well I have to go" looking at jeremy and back to me " I hope you don't trespass again " she got on her horse about to leave

"wait, I didn't catch your name" Jeremy said waiting for her to reply with her name

"well, I didnt say it" she said as she raced off immediately I burst into laughter, Jeremy looked at me frustrated and hissed.

"guy, sorry. She's a savage" still laughing at jeryemy's frustration

"where do you know her from, she's hot, I like her" Jeremy said as I looked up at him but I didnt reply 'cause my attention was set on something floating in the water.

I went further to have a look passing the boundary when I noticed it was a bra, blue bra and I recalled that she was not putting on on, then it dawned on me that in my attempt to rescue her i must have pulled it off and that was were the slaps came from. I entered into the river igonoring Jeremy's non ending questions. I took the bra and got out of the river.

"guy have you even been listening to me. What's that?"

"its the bra of the mermaid"

"mermaid?? Is that her name"

"no, silly"

"I give up let's go home you're all wet and stinking" we both got on our horses and made our way home as I thought of her, grinning to myself.

Lucia

I got to the ranch house, one of the servant collected the horse from me. I went straight to Roni's room knowing fully well she would have snuck out of the room so i didn't knock.

I was dumfounded, I couldnt believe what my eyes saw. I know this was expected, they are dating, of course but I was still shocked. They were practically swallowing each other's throat. I closed the door immediately, I ran downstairs as tears filled my eyes until i bumped into someone. I looked up and it was an old man, he was probably in his early 70's.

I noticed he was roni's father salvador. 'he is really old' which is not surprising. Eve and Salvador had their first and only child Ronita when they were kinda old. They both claimed to be enjoying their youth as an excuse of not having a child early.

"what's wrong dear? why are you crying" Salvador said sternly steering me away from my thoughts but I couldn't utter a word. I couldn't tell him I saw his daughter kissing a pauper whom I have a major crush on.

Ronita

When Pedro and I saw Lucia relief filled our eyes 'for a second I thought it was my dad, I would have fainted'

"luci..." I didn't finish before she jammed the door. I looked at pedro being surprised at her reaction.

"what's wrong with her" Pedro said

"i don't know, let's continue" I wiggle my eyebrows at ypedro but he frowned.

"she is your best friend, don't you care bout her?"

"I do pedro, but you drive me crazy. I'll go see what that was about. Don't move an inch" I said as I left my room, on getting downstairs I saw lucia in tears as my dad was trying to comfort her. "what's going on here" I said being surprised with the show lucia made here.

When she saw me she stopped crying and cleaned her tears.

"its nothing, really. It's just that I went swimming and a guy tried to assault me " Lucia perfected her lie. I knew she was lying. I have a sixth sense for liars 'cause I'm actually one my self.

Salvador

"who dared try to put his hands on you. You are a daughter to me, tell me who?" I angrily said.

"There is no need for any drastic measures. He thought I was drowning and rescued me, but I thought he was trying to have his way with me" she said covering up for the person.

"i said tell me who he is" I shouted making the whole house quiver.

"He is the owner of the Crustavo's Ranch" she said remembering when he took steps backwards and said he owned the property.

I stood up made my way out of the parlour on hearing Crustavo. I knew it was time to make drastic actions on The Crustavos. He is going to feel my wrath.

Ronita

I was frightened when my dad shouted. It made me wonder what he would do if he found out about Pedro, my love. Dad left in a hurry to God knows where. I dragged Lucia by the arm to the kitchen. I told the servants to leave which they did immediately.

Then i looked furiously at lucia who was scared to hell. "why did you lie" I said furiated.

"excuse me!! I said the truth I thought he wanted to take advantage of me. He did remove my bra, you know?" I kinda felt she was honest at a point.

"I don't know what is going through your head but I have no time for this bullshit" she said walking out on me.

"I'm going to find out what is going on, bet it bestie" I screamed as she was out of sight. "what a friend, she is!'

Salvador

I stormed into my bedroom angrily, looking for my phone. I picked it up and dialed a number on it.

"Good day Rodriguez..."📞

I cut him shut, not allowing him to finish his sentence, I definitely meant business.

"look Rodriguez, I don't want to beat around the bush. I would like to report an assault and you see I want whoever did this to my poor dear Lucia, put behind bars"📞

"your daughter was assaulted? I'm so sorry to hear about this. I'm sorry sir, but I would need her to come over to the precinct to make an official complaint and also her statement "📞

"Moron. My daughter wasn't violated, her best friend was. Can't you come over to my ranch to talk about this properly"📞

"i really have a lot of work to do but I'll try my best sir"📞

'Now Crustavo, you have no idea, what is going to hit you soon' I smirked to my self.

After lucia walked out on me, I left for my room when I heard voices coming from my dad's room. So I walked over to eaves drop and I could hear them speak, so dad is going to report the case to the police but I thought lucia said the situation was misunderstood.

"hey"a voice broke me from my thoughts and i flinched almost falling.

"Jesus Christ, you startled me pedro. I thought i said you should stay put on my bed" I whispered loudly.

"sorry you took ages, so i thought you forgot me" pedro said smiling and i blushed

Man he had a killer smile

"uhm...hmm...i was ....was just"i said trying to form words

"eavesdropping, i was doing the same, you just didn't notice me"

"who's there"my dad said from the room after hearing voice i gestured immediately for pedro to escape when my dad opened the door.

"heeeyyy dad. whats up"trying to act cool and unsuspicious i thanked the lord that pedro was fast enough to make a run for it.

"sweetheart i thought i heard voice. where is lucia"

"i dont know i didnt know i was in charge of her now, she could be anywhere" i scoffed

"you're looking for me"lucia appeared out of nowhere

"thats her dad, excuse me"i was about to leave

"sweetheart, lucia...follow me to the study right now"dad said and i wondered why we followed him to the study when he sat he gestured us to sit and we did just that

"you must be wondering why i wanted to see both of you, look as we all know we have been enemies with the next ranch for ages now and its time we show who the boss is i have reported the incident to the police and they'll soon be here for your statement lucia and you'll tell the police exactly wat happened only that he raped you, you know.

You're girl, girls are dramatic add tears to the show if you want to. Say, he took your virginity or something make it perfect, the rest leave it up to me. Ronita, you'll be the eye witness, say something like, you saw him force himself on her but you were too scared t..."i rose up and shouted immediately not allowing him to finish.

"dad! what has come over you. I dont care if you have a silly beef with Gustavo...whatever his name is"

"its Crustavo"lucia said whispering

"i dont give a damn, dont add me to this little charade of yours"i shouted as the door to the study flung opened and i flinched

"What is going on here"Eve said and i rolled my eyes

"oh great the devil incarnate is here"i mumbled lowly to my self, at this point nobody said anything, everyone was either just shocked at how i replied or were surprised at mom's entry.

"can someone tell me why ya'll have been screaming on top of your voice when there is clearly a police man in our parlour"mom said still no one said a thing

"Salvador, what has your daughter done again this time"she came close to me almost pulling my hair

"i got raped" lucia said as a tear fell from her eye, then she burst into fresh flowing tears, and i swear, if i didnt know lucia i would believed her. i looked at dad as he smirked, dad then went on to explain everything to mom, but i couldnt stand their lies anymore so i left the room and acted as if i didnt see the man sitted who was keenly staring at me till i walked pass him, then i stopped and looked back, wondering if i should say something.

"do not believe them" that was all i could say before leaving, I knew he heard me right

I got to my room when i saw a note on my bed, and it says

"hey pumpkin, something came up I couldnt wait. Take care"
