"...marry me and we both will conquer them together..." "Fine. As long as I get my revenge," Amelia said. ...her days of being trampled upon were over now. She is now the wife of the billionaire chairman of the WGM Groups. "How the tables have turned," she said with a dangerous smile. "Let the games begin." Amelia lost everything on a rainy night. Her adoptive family kicked her out with nowhere to go. Just when she thought she had no one, her boss, Leonard Wolfe, pulled up and offered for her to live with him. Life had never been fair to Amelia. Adopted as a baby, she was always treated as less than her spoiled younger sister, Jemima. No matter how hard she worked, Jemima took everything-including Amelia's boyfriend, Derek. Then, to make things worse, Jemima married him and rubbed it in Amelia's face. That was the final straw. Amelia vowed to make them pay. That's when Leonard made her an offer: a contract marriage. He'd help her get revenge, and she'd help him escape his father's demands. She agreed, not knowing she had just married a billionaire. At a company event, she discovered the truth-Leonard was the heir to WGM Groups. In an instant, she went from an outcast to a powerful woman with the perfect chance to destroy those who wronged her. But there was more. Amelia found out she was the daughter of a powerful mafia Don who wanted her to take over his empire. She refused-until an enemy tried to kill her and Leonard, forcing her to rethink everything. Now, Amelia must face her past, her growing feelings for Leonard, and her thirst for revenge. Revenge never looked this tempting.

Chapter 1 Good riddance

"Are you stupid?" Jemima's voice roared with the thunder. It was raining heavily outside.

"Can you calm down? I simply asked a question," Amelia answered her. "Fine, I'm sorry. It's enough already."

"Are you talking to me like that?" Jemima shouted again and pushed Amelia very hard, that she fell on the ground. Amelia was still on the ground when their mother came in.

Mrs Carrie Woods was an average height woman who took sides with Jemima no matter what Jemima did. She did this because Amelia was not her child. She had adopted Amelia when she was only a baby.

"What have you done again today?" she asked Amelia who was trying to stand up from the ground.

"Nothing," Amelia said and finally stood up. "I was only asking if she had anything going on with Derek."

Mrs Woods scoffed. She slowly walked to Amelia who was now dusting her clothes, and slapped her. Wham! The slap made Amelia stagger backwards as if she wanted to fall again. Amelia did not expect to be hit by her mother, so it shocked her.

"Next time, don't accuse my daughter of doing something so stupid," Carrie said.

"Like, mom do you get? Why would I want to have anything to do with Amelia's boyfriend?" Jemima laughed. Then she continued, "even though you obviously don't deserve a good man like Derek in your life, why would I stoop so low to sleep with a man that has already touched your filthy body?"

Amelia's eyes were itchy and red from the tears that were now gathering. She bit her lips to hold herself from crying. Jemima was fond of insulting her, and it hurt Amelia a lot.

"If I had known you would give me so much trouble when you grew up, I would have-" Mrs Woods stopped herself mid sentence. She did not want to let Amelia know that she was adopted, even though she sometimes forgot and almost talked about it. Just as they were still busy talking, Mr Woods came in from work.

He rolled his eyes. Mr Woods, just like his wife was average height. But he was aging too.

"What is the fuss about today?" he asked as he looked at Amelia. Just like everyone, he blamed Amelia for anything that went wrong in the house. He was never in support of Amelia being adopted, so he did not like her too.

"Nothing, sir," Amelia said, bowing her head.

"Nothing? Would we keep you here for nothing?" Mrs Woods asked Amelia with a scornful look on her face.

"Dad," Jemima called her father, "this good for nothing riffraff accused me of sleeping with her boyfriend. Can you believe that?"

Mr Woods looked at Amelia again. "Did you say that?"

Amelia started to stutter. "I didn't accuse her... I only asked if she had anything going on because I saw–"

"Oh shut up, you dumb fool. You already accused her if you asked her such a stupid question." Mr Woods shouted.

Jemima shook her head as if she was in disbelief. "What did you see? Say it now."

Jemima was shrieking with anger because of Amelia's question, but the truth was that she was actually sleeping with Amelia's boyfriend, and her parents knew. Derek was quite the rich young man compared to them, and Jemima thought that Amelia did not deserve him, so she seduced him and started sleeping with him.

Amelia had confronted Derek when she saw Jemima's pictures on his phone, but he only told her that she was being paranoid. She decided to confront Jemima too, but it landed her in bigger trouble.

"I saw your pictures on his phone," Amelia said simply. "Provocative pictures."

Jemima laughed. "What will you know about provocativeness? You are just an ugly prude!"

Amelia had had enough of it. "You are not much different from an ugly person either, with that personality of yours –" she was still talking when Jemima landed another hot slap on her face. Amelia looked up in surprise and held her face. Now she was crying.

"That serves you right," Jemima laughed. "What can you do about it?"

"I think you have overstayed your welcome in this house. You better leave my house before you kill my daughter for me!" Mrs Woods started shouting and running into Amelia's bedroom. She brought out Amelia's small luggage bag that contained her very small collection of clothes. Those were the only properties that Amelia had to her name.

Amelia immediately knelt down when Mrs Woods came out with her bag.

"Mom please! I'm your daughter too!" she pleaded. Mrs Woods did not listen to her. She dragged Amelia on the ground despite Amelia crying and begging. Jemima laughed in pleasure as she watched her mother throw Amelia out. Mr Woods just walked into his room as if he did not see Amelia being thrown out.

Mrs Woods dragged Amelia and her bag until they got to the door. Then she opened the door and pushed Amelia into the rain.

"Good riddance," Jemima said with a satisfied smile. "Now I can finally marry Derek."

Chapter 2 Angel from God

Amelia was freezing under the rain.

It was cold and she had no umbrella to cover herself. Even worse than that, she had nowhere to go. She was wandering in the rain and crying. Where would she run to?

She wanted to go to Derek's place for the main time, but his house was far across the city and she did not have money to transport herself there. She was in deep trouble.

She was shivering very hard when she sighted a big store afar. She started running towards the store so that she could take shelter there. The store was so big, that it could pass for a warehouse. Amelia made up her mind not to go inside the store, but stand outside till the rain stopped. She did not want to think about where to sleep yet. She just wanted to survive the rain first.

To her surprise, the store was open. Some men were busy with something there. Amelia timidly greeted the men and stood by a corner. She did not want to talk to them because she did not know if they were dangerous people. She stood there for a few minutes before she entered the rain again and continued walking aimlessly. She did not see her boss from work there, but he had seen her.

She was so lost in her thoughts, remembering the events of the night, that she did not notice the person walking behind her. She only knew of his presence when the rain suddenly stopped touching her.

Amelia looked up to see that she had been covered by an umbrella. The person holding the umbrella was wearing a hoodie, but he removed the hood and there he was. Leonard Alexander.

"Oh, good evening sir," Amelia greeted him formally.

"What are you doing, walking aimlessly under the rain, Ms Woods?" Leonard asked. Leonard was a tall and handsome man with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. Just like his name implied, he had the build of a lion. He had broad shoulders and just the perfect ass to go with it. He was the general manager of the WGM Groups where Amelia worked as a bottom barrel marketing staff.

"Oh, I uh, I... I am just uh," Amelia tried to find a lie to tell him. "What are you doing out here?" she asked as a way of trying to take off his attention from her.

"I was at that warehouse for business," Leonard said and Amelia knew that he had seen her when she came to take shelter there.

"It seems like your rent is due. Is it?" he asked, taking his attention back to the topic. She nodded immediately.

"I see," he said. "So, where to now?"

Amelia chuckled nervously. She had nowhere to go, but how could she tell her boss that she was now homeless?

"I uh, I was looking for a taxi," she lied, knowing that it was a lame lie.

"Ms Woods, who looks for a taxi under the rain, with a luggage bag?" Leonard asked her. He knew she was lying. "Were you thrown out of your house?"

Amelia nodded, and the tears that she had been trying to keep away started pouring again. She narrated the event of the evening to him while crying and Leonard immediately decided he was going to help her. It was a quick decision without second thoughts, but he didn't mind.

"Would you like to stay at my place till you figure yourself out?" he asked, as if bringing a stranger in to live with him was a casual thing to do.

Amelia stopped crying immediately. Her sadness was replaced with complete surprise. Was he an angel from God? Only an angel would offer a stranger to live with him so quickly. Not that they were complete strangers, but Amelia only knew Leonard as her boss at work, nothing else.

"But sir..." her words trailed off.

"Well, if you have a better choice, that is fine–" he was still talking when Amelia jumped on the offer.

"Yes, yes! I will. I will stay with you," she said quickly and Leonard nodded.

"Let us get you a change of clothes first."

Chapter 3 It's so hot in the kitchen

Leonard stopped a taxi that took them to a nearby boutique. He asked Amelia to pick up some clothes she could wear in the next few days, since her bag was drenched in the rain.

"Pick whatever you will need to wear from now till your clothes are dry."

Amelia thanked him and started making her selections. While she was at it, Leonard excused himself and went outside to make a call. A sleek black Maybach had been following behind him and Amelia right from when he covered her with the umbrella on the road. It was his chauffeur loyally following him around and waiting to take him back home. Leonard called to ask the chauffeur to leave.

"I will call you when I need you," he told the man.

"But it's raining," the chauffeur protested, "you know you left your father with the promise that you will come back to him tonight. That is why he asked me to follow you."

"Well, go back and tell him that I got tangled up in business," Leonard hissed.

"Sir–" the chauffeur began to say, but Leonard cut the call and went back to meet Amelia. The chauffeur had no choice but to return back.

"You know, you can actually choose to stay in a hotel," Leonard cleared his throat. He had thought about that option after he hastily decided to help Amelia. He continued, "but you will have to get an advance from your salary to be able to pay for that. So, make your choice now."

Amelia thought of both options. Staying in a hotel would mean using her meagre salary to pay for it, but if she stayed with Leonard, she would be able to save for her own apartment.

"Can I borrow your phone?" she asked him.

"Yeah, sure." Leonard gave her the phone.

Amelia punched in some numbers and waited for the person to pick up the call. There was no answer. She called again and waited, but there was still no response. 'I guess I have to live with him,' she thought. The person she was calling was Derek, but he did not pick up.

"I will live with you," she said finally. Leonard nodded and took his phone from her. Then he ordered a taxi which took them to his house.

Leonard's house was a modest one. It was a spacious one bedroom apartment with minimalist design. It was very suitable for a man like Leonard. Just plain. They got in and Leonard showed Amelia to his room.

"You may sleep on the bed. I will sleep on the floor," he offered. Amelia tried to disagree, but she kept silent. Leonard showed her to the bathroom.

"You may have your bath now. I will leave you to it while I prepare a little dinner."

Amelia nodded as Leonard left.

In the room, Amelia broke down and cried again before she went to take her bath. She was grateful to Leonard for showing up from nowhere and taking her in.

The warm water felt good on her body. It had been a long time since Amelia had a warm bath. Her mother had disconnected the water heater in her bathroom, saying that it was a waste of power. She finished bathing and went to join Leonard in the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Leonard was busy chopping some onions. He had taken off his shirt because of the heat that was coming from the food on the fire. Now, he was bare chested as he cooked.

He did not know that someone was watching him. Amelia watched as he moved swiftly when he checked the pot, and how he chopped things with care even though he was fast with it. His back was even more beautiful to look at, than his actions. He was very toned and defined. His ass... they sat under his waist like a...

"Oh, Amelia," Leonard called when he noticed her presence. Then he turned around to face her. Amelia blinked. 'What the hell? So, this man has such a well carved body?' she asked herself. Her eyes were stuck on his chiseled abs and the veins that were on his waist. The lines were leading to...

"I can call you Amelia, right?" he asked. "You can call me Leonard too. Since we will be staying with each other, there is no need for formality."

"Yes... Yes, sir," Amelia stuttered.

"What is the problem?" Leonard asked. Then he followed her eyes and saw that she was looking at his body. He chuckled. He understood that it was normal for women to be like that when they saw his body. He wanted to say something.

"The food is burning!" Amelia shouted.
