Alexander watches Kimbeerly who continues to flash her sweet smile as everyone cheers. Yes ... they had their wedding today. Everyone is happy and now it's time to prove that they love each other with a kiss. Alexander pulls Kimbeerly gently by the scruff of the neck and gives him a kiss which Kimbeerly kisses back.
Shouts and cheers of happiness filled the wedding hall as Alexander pulled away. They stared at each other before finally smiling. Alexander grasped Kimbeerly's fingers tightly and the girl continued to flash a charming smile.
"I will always love you."
Alexander turned to look at Kimbeerly who was smiling again after telling Alexander her feelings. Alexander only smiled slightly in return. He immediately took Kimbeerly to the front to entertain their guests who had arrived.
Alexander focused on the two visibly moved people in front of him. Kimbeerly's parents who were now smiling happily as their daughter and son-in-law came to see them after their recent change of status. Alexander revealed a faint smile after being in front of Kimbeerly's parents.
"Congratulations on your marriage, Kimbeerly, and Alexander. I'm so happy to see that you've officially become husband and wife." Victoria spoke while hugging her daughter affectionately her eyes also looking at Alexander beside her daughter.
Jeremy did not speak. He kept his eyes on his daughter who continued to show her big smile today. He did not expect that the only daughter in their family would have a partner now. Especially with Alexander who had known her briefly. Jeremy is not unhappy with his daughter's change in status, it's just that he feels it's too soon. Jeremy still wants to see Kimbeerly with him and be his child who is never far from them. Unfortunately, this is already the way.
"Daddy."
Jeremy revealed his smile with a simple nod. He welcomed his daughter into his warm embrace while feeling his heart slightly unwilling to let Kimbeerly go to Alexander. "Congratulations on your marriage, my beautiful daughter."
Kimbeerly nodded in response to her father's congratulations. She broke away and looked at her father who had just wiped away the tears that were about to come. "Don't cry, Dad. I'll be your daughter forever and I'm not going anywhere."
Jeremy shook his head. He hugged Kimbeerly back. "I'm just a little unwilling for the only daughter in the Libason family to have a partner now let alone leave home."
Alexander smiled wryly at Jeremy's words. His face was so calm but not with that eagle-eyed look. No one would notice how he was. Alexander was good at putting on a face and putting himself out there.
"Ehem!"
Alexander cleared his throat and then made Jeremy and Kimbeerly's hug break. The two stared at Alexander for a few moments before finally chuckling. Realizing that the new guy was offended by their conversation.
"Don't tell me you're jealous of that father and daughter, Alexander," Victoria commented on Alexander's expressions and mannerisms with a laugh.
Alexander smiled slightly. "It shouldn't be, but who knows about human feelings? I can't even control it from being jealous even though I know they are a father and son."
The three laughed in response to Alexander's words. The man knew how to make the atmosphere warm. Jeremy also always viewed Alexander as intelligent. The man never seemed to think but his words were always in line with what was happening. It was only natural that his daughter would be enamored with a man like this. Alexander was good at doing anything.
"Alright, alright. Forgive your father-in-law for not understanding your feelings. I will give my daughter to you," Jeremy said as he pulled away from Kimbeerly and gently pushed his daughter closer to Alexander.
"It's not your fault, Mr. Libason. It's my fault for not understanding that you are blood relatives which made me look ridiculous with my earlier remark. I'm sorry I offended you." Alexander said as he bowed his body slightly.
"Your parents didn't come, Alexander? I haven't seen them since the show started."
Alexander raised one eyebrow with a haggard face. Feeling guilty he said, "They apologized to me earlier for having to wait for a grandmother who was seriously ill in the hospital. I came with Father earlier but he very regretfully couldn't attend his own son's wedding because he had to go out of town. I'll call him later and they also sent their regards to you."
Victoria and Jeremy looked at each other. They found Alexander's words strange. Hardly any parent would want to ignore their child's big day, let alone their only child, and Alexander's words left them unsure of the truth.
"Alexander is telling the truth, Mom and Dad. They told me his apologies right before we got married and showed me how critical Alexander's grandmother was. His father was also on an important business trip and couldn't join us for the wedding. Although I was disappointed, I understood their situation." Kimbeerly said as she saw the look of disbelief on her parents.
Alexander. The man nodded in agreement with Kimbeerly's words while wearing a guilty look on his face. Those eyes continued to scrutinize Jeremy and Victoria's faces. It was obvious they still didn't believe what Kimbeerly had said but tried to cover it up with a faint smile. Alexander smiled sarcastically and then turned his gaze in another direction.
Meanwhile, Kimbeerly saw Alexander avert his eyes, sensing that he was covering up his sadness. She stroked Alexander's arm, intending to soothe the man from his discomfort and the current awkward atmosphere. Alexander turned his head back and revealed a faint smile to Kimbeerly.
"Well, Mother...Father...I have to welcome some friends and guests. Thank you in advance for congratulating me and approving our relationship. You guys mean so much to me whenever and wherever. I thought I would have to live with these two great parents, but instead, I turned to Alexander for the future. Your daughter is such a brat."
Jeremy and Victoria looked at each other before finally laughing. They nodded their approval to Kimbeerly and afterward, Kimbeerly led Alexander to one of the tables where her friends were gathered and enjoying the meal.
"Congratulations on your marriage, Kimbeerly. I can't believe you're finally following in my footsteps."
Kimbeerly responded with a smile to what one of her friends said.
"Moreover, your man is very handsome and looks... authoritative," another said.
"The innocent Kimbeerly will no longer exist after their first night."
Everyone around laughed at one person's joke. Instead, Kimbeerly looked away with her flushed face as well as Alexander who looked ordinary. As if he didn't care what Kimbeerly's friends said and was busy with his thoughts.
The vibrations of the phone brought Alexander to his senses. He looked at his phone briefly and then whispered something to Kimbeerly. The girl looked glum for a moment before nodding in agreement.
"I won't be long, Baby." Alexander said back in a whisper to calm Kimbeerly down.
Alexander left immediately. Leaving Kimbeerly with her friends who also seemed curious about what the man would do to leave his wife alone. Kimbeerly was only able to see Alexander's departure and tried to divert her sadness by joking with her friends.
"I don't think your husband is a man of longevity."
Kimbeerly felt offended by one of her friend's remarks but she replied with a quiet shake of her head. "She has plenty of time, it's just that maybe it's more important."
Kimbeerly's friends stared at each other with a curiosity they couldn't bring themselves to express. Let it be a secret to themselves and then it was gone.
"Where are you, idiot? I've been waiting for you since an hour ago."
Alexander put his phone away as soon as the shrill sound of shouting hit his ears. He cleared his throat briefly and then began to speak. "Why are you waiting for me? I didn't promise to pick you up if you forgot. You bastard!"
"What?! Did you forget your own words? Men like to break promises. Just tell me if you're reluctant to see me and prefer your new job."
"Wear your tie properly, Alexander," Kimbeerly said after taking in her husband's appearance from the spacious bed she was lying on. Meanwhile, Alexander was in front of the full-length mirror while adjusting his watch.
"I'm busy putting on my watch," he said, prompting Kimbeerly to pull back the covers and come closer.
"Just tell me you're too lazy to justify it and need help."
Alexander only responded with a faint smile and then let Kimbeerly get busy with the tie he was wearing. Those eyes continued to stare at Kimbeerly's beautiful face. Alexander smiled inwardly. He felt a little guilty about what he was doing right now but his ego cut off any feelings that were present. Alexander looked away afterward.
"Done."
Alexander looked at his reflection in the mirror and smiled. It was his first day in the company. Kimbeerly had prepared everything well and the woman kept smiling. Alexander should be happy about that but once again, he restricts himself from overdoing it.
"Thank you," he said, kissing Kimbeerly on the forehead before exiting their room.
Alexander walked down every step of the stairs. The mansion with all its strife. Alexander laughed sarcastically to himself. His eyes wandered, scrutinizing every part and storing it in his memory well.
It won't be long now. He thought.
Alexander revealed a smile as his eyes found the figure he so admired and hated at the same time. It was... his father-in-law who was now welcoming him with a new look.
"You look good in anything," Jeremy said once Alexander was in front of him.
Alexander smiled as he nodded slowly. "Thank you for your compliment, Mr. Libason."
"Alright. We should go to the office immediately to welcome our new President."
Alexander nodded again with a smile. Afterward, they both got into a car with a driver. Jeremy and Alexander sat at the back and talked about their experiences.
Alexander watched how Jeremy spoke and acted. He occasionally gave a faint smile and nodded. Yes ... today was the first time Alexander worked in Jeremy's company with the status of president. A high status that of course, he got with the tricks he played and according to the plan he had laid out for so long. It turned out to be so easy for Alexander to get what he wanted with his relentless efforts. Every effort will not betray the results, that's what he thought.
Alexander remembers very well the conversation between himself and Jeremy earlier. The middle-aged man told Alexander to replace him as the leader of the Libason company after Alexander revealed his experience working in the company. For once, Alexander did have his own experience of the company.
At first, Alexander simply expressed that he wanted to build a company of his own and asked for Jeremy's opinion, but the man seemed to think and eventually gave him a letter about the leadership of the company. The transition from Jeremy to Alexander was so impressive that Alexander was able to get what he wanted more easily than he could have imagined.
"Don't you want to go inside?"
Alexander roused himself and turned around. Realizing that the car had stopped right in front of a large company and the car door had opened for them to get out. Alexander revealed a faint smile and started to get out of the car along with Jeremy.
"Let's go," Alexander invited, letting Jeremy walk first before he followed. After all, manners are the main thing that should be shown to everyone, even the closest people.
Jeremy and Alexander walked in with several employees passing by and greeting them. Expressions of curiosity about what was going on were evident on the faces of the employees who had seen Alexander's presence in the company. However, Alexander didn't care. He ignored all their looks and expressions that were of no use to him. Alexander would only be wasting his time if he thought about such things.
They entered the elevator to reach the prepared room. Now and then Jeremy looked at Alexander and the man who looked calm.
"You don't look nervous at all. Are you used to it?"
Alexander responded with a smile. "You just don't see it, Mr. Libason. I'm very nervous, especially with the position I'm about to accept. I can't think very well right now."
Jeremy chuckled at Alexander's innocent reply. He tapped Alexander lightly on the shoulder to calm his son-in-law, and Alexander bowed respectfully to Jeremy. Afterward, they entered the meeting room. There were many important people in it with a long round table in the center. Jeremy invited Alexander to sit next to the person who greeted him with a smile.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting," Jeremy said shortly after sitting down.
"To the point. As I've already told you, today I'm bringing someone who I'm going to introduce to you as my successor. Leading you and this company that will hopefully progress much further than this. He is... Alexander Lemos. My son-in-law and my successor."
A round of applause filled the room with several important people who had deliberately gathered. Alexander had been introduced earlier by Jeremy as the new president and welcomed by many important people and today was the official introduction by bringing them together in one room. They looked at each other and had their own opinions on what they had just seen.
"You guys work well and help my son-in-law if he's having problems because actually, that cohesiveness will lead to more satisfying results," Jeremy said to more applause.
Alexander smiled. Showing his hesitant and happy face in front of everyone without any suspicion. The man accidentally saw one of the people who seemed to dislike his presence. He smiled knowingly. After all, many people aim for a high position in a company, especially if they work carefully and carefully. Alexander was a little sorry but he still didn't care what people thought. He also had a business to be here.
Alexander stood up. "Please help me and we can achieve success later," Alexander said and then bowed his body and was greeted with more applause by those there.
Everyone started to scatter after Jeremy instructed them to disperse after this official introduction except for one person. It was the man who seemed to dislike Alexander and was still standing next to Jeremy on the left.
"I hope you'll also help my son-in-law run the company, Ed."
The man looked from Alexander to Jeremy. He showed a faint smile and nodded with Alexander who then looked away. Also not really like this man who was Jeremy's younger brother.
Humans are full of hypocrisy, inwardly.
"Of course, I have to cooperate with him, Mr. Jeremy. After all, he is also my nephew."
Jeremy patted Edward lightly on the back and nodded with a smile. Meanwhile, Alexander also smiled slightly.
"Very well. Edward will take you to your quarters, Alexander. I hope you enjoy working here and I hope our company gets better with you."
"I can't disappoint my in-laws, right?"
It had been a week since Alexander took the helm of the Libason family-owned El Group's company. Since then, he has been keeping track of the people who have been included in his plan while continuing to act as a substitute for the chairman. The time he had planned was taking a very long time, so he would not waste his time just relaxing and enjoying. This was nothing compared to all the plans he had made. There was still quite a long way to go and Alexander was trying hard not to take too much time to get the results he wanted.
It was exactly one o'clock in the afternoon, during break time. Alexander left his room for lunch and also saw one of the people in his plans. He was... one of Jeremy's trusted men who also worked for the company, but specialized in production and only left the room during meal times. Alexander had calculated everything from the start, and he was right. The person he wanted to meet had just left the room to go to the company cafe that was provided.
Alexander walked over. He watched the figure from behind before finally saying hello first.
"Good afternoon, Master John."
The man turned his head as soon as someone called his name. He smiled as he realized that it was his leader and the son-in-law of Jeremy, his boss. "Ah, good afternoon too, Mr. Lemos."
"Are you going to have lunch? If so, I think there's no harm in us eating together."
John nodded approvingly with a big smile. "What a great idea. I didn't realize you were such a polite and kind man. I don't pay enough attention to my surroundings."
Alexander only responded with a smile. They continued walking towards the company café and occasionally talked about work. When they were about to start eating, Alexander cleared his throat which made John look at him.
"I want to tell a story while we eat. Can I?" Alexander asked John who nodded in agreement.
Alexander smiled and started spooning his food. "I thought this was a stale story because I heard it a long time ago too but since there's nothing to discuss between us, I thought it wouldn't hurt to tell it."
Alexander was still uncomfortable with what he was about to tell John, while the man who was much older than Alexander waved. The intention was for Alexander not to feel uncomfortable and just relax.
"Just tell me. There's no need to feel embarrassed. After all, we need to get closer as superiors and subordinates. Isn't that right?"
Alexander nodded in agreement. He then spooned his food and began to eat slowly. He looked at John who had also started eating.
"It was a long time ago when I met my friend. I met her when I was ten years old and we met in a park."
Alexander began his story with the occasional return to eating, and John listened willingly.
"He told me that he no longer had parents because of an incident. I just sat there and listened. He told me that his parents were killed by a group of people in the house when he was playing with his friends and found them lying on the floor with a lot of blood."
John stopped what he was doing. Paying attention to Alexander who seemed to be calmly telling something like this and also John who remembered something about himself and some people at that time.
"He looked so sad that even when I offered him a loaf of bread he just looked at it without intending to take it, even though at that time he looked hungry and unkempt. He also told me that since the incident he has been homeless and living as he pleases. He has no one to listen to his complaints because he has no other family. His grandmother and grandfather are long dead and his parents were also killed by a group of people."
John bowed his head. Feeling guilty even though he wasn't sure if Alexander really had a friend like this or if Alexander was just making it up. It was just that John felt familiar with this story and what he had done in the past. If this story that Alexander told was the story of the child of two people, John felt guilty. After all, he still had feelings for that poor boy.
Alexander looked briefly at John and the man who kept his face down. Alexander gave a lopsided smile and resumed his story.
"I asked him to come with me so that my parents could take care of him, but he refused because he couldn't stop thinking about the reasons behind his parent's murder. He only had the house that his parents left behind and didn't want to leave it just for the memories of his parents. After that, he got permission to leave and I asked her to bring the bread he had seen. It's very sad, but I can't do much about it because I've never felt that way myself."
"What's your friend's name? How is he?" asked John trying to hide his curiosity because he felt sorry for Alexander's story.
Alexander shook his head. "I don't know who he is or where he is. I only met him once at a playground. He was so sad and I didn't know what to do because I didn't experience anything like that myself. It's just that I feel that if I were his friend then I would avenge those people's actions on his family despite the many risks he has to go through."
John looked at Alexander in disbelief. The look on his face was one of fear, but also an attempt to hide the truth. He couldn't imagine that Alexander's thinking could be the same as the boy's. It was possible that the boy could reappear and avenge their actions back then. John... he had to be careful from now on even though it wasn't necessarily the case that the boy Alexander told him about was a victim of his past.
Alexander shrugged his shoulders and joined John's gaze. Looking at the man who looked so scared of something Alexander didn't care. He averted his eyes.
"I think he's doing well now. I don't know for sure after our brief encounter," Alexander said and turned back to John.
John cleared his throat and took another drink. He took a rough gulp and then asked Alexander's permission to go to the toilet. Meanwhile, Alexander was silent and watched John's sudden departure. He smiled sarcastically as his eagle eyes continued to stare ahead. His brain began to surf with plans for what he would do after this.
Alexander sighed softly before finally leaving. Leaving the café area and walking towards his office as the break time was almost over. Ignoring John who was probably thinking about the boy he told him about with all his guilt. Alexander could see for himself that the man looked scared and regretful, but the rice was already cooked. Alexander's plans had to be carried out no matter what.
Alexander entered his room again. He sat down on a chair and opened a box that had always been neatly tucked away. The smile he continued to show faded as his eagle eyes stared at the paper in his hand.
"I found them."
