Elena Carter lives a happy married life. She has a handsome and wealthy husband, Demian Wright, CEO of Wright Corporation. She is also the mother of Nathan, their ten-year-old son.
Today, Elena comes to her husband's company to give a surprise. However, what should have been a sweet moment became the beginning of the destruction of her household.
Behind the closed door, she heard her husband's conversation with a woman who was quite familiar to him...
"When are you going to divorce Elena? That barren woman?"
The woman's voice was heard through the closed door.
"We've been together for ten years, Demian, and we already have Nathan as the successor to your family business, what more do you expect?"
Elena's world seemed to stop spinning when she heard everything. Nathan, the child who was adopted ten years ago, turned out not to be someone else's child but Demian's child with another woman, Bianca, his friend.
"I know, but I can't just divorce him. Give me time, I'll make sure to divorce him, sooner or later."
Bruk.
Demian's answer surprised Elena, making the food box in her hand fall, making a loud enough noise.
"Did you hear that? There seems to be someone outside," Bianca's voice sounded panicked.
Hearing footsteps approaching the door, with trembling hands, Elena grabbed the food box and quickly ran away.
Arriving at home, Elena threw herself on the bed. What she heard broke her heart. She squeezed the pillow, holding back the scream she didn't want to hear.
In the past, when she felt sad, Demian would be by her side, comforting her until her feelings improved. But now, even if he came with a million words of comfort, it would never change anything.
The man she once kneeled before, and with all his sweet promises on the altar of marriage, she had already betrayed with a betrayal.
Tired, Elena finally fell asleep with tears still wet on her cheeks.
When she woke up, she felt a strong hand hugging her body, followed by a soft kiss on her forehead. Without opening her eyes, Elena knew it was Demian. The scent of her husband's perfume was too distinctive to be unrecognized.
In the past, this hug would have made her feel comfortable.
But now, it felt like a thorn piercing right into her heart.
What Elena wants to do now is to break free from Demian's embrace.
"Are you home? "Elena asked, forcing herself to smile. She opened her eyes slowly.
"Yes," Demian replied softly. "What's wrong? Are you sad?"
Elena hurriedly wiped away the tears that remained in the corners of her eyes.
"No, I'm fine. I... miss my parents, "she replied briefly, her voice trembling.
She immediately got out of bed, keeping her distance from Demian.
She no longer wanted to be in the arms of the man who had betrayed her.
"Do you want to visit their graves?" Demian asked, watching Elena.
Elena, who was standing in front of the bathroom door, gave a slight smile.
"Yes... maybe later," she replied briefly before going inside and closing the door, giving Demian no chance to speak again.
Behind the bathroom door, Elena leaned back. She could no longer hold back her tears when she remembered the happiness that had now been destroyed.
Before long, the sound of her cell phone and footsteps approaching the bathroom door slightly distracted her.
"Elena, I have to go. There is important work I have to do, "Demian said after he knocked on the bathroom door.
"Yes, be careful on the road," Elena replied, holding back her tears.
Demian's footsteps were heard walking away shortly. Elena opened the door, entered the bedroom window, and drew the curtains.
From there, she saw Demian leaving the house, passing through the gate with his car.
Her feelings told her Demian was going to meet Bianca.
Quickly, Elena grabbed her bag and followed Demian.
Demian's car stopped in front of Nathan's school.
Elena saw Nathan and Bianca standing in front of the school gate from a distance, waiting casually.
When Demian got out and opened the car door, they got in immediately, looking so intimate.
"Is this what you call important work? How stupid of me to always believe everything you say, Demian," Elena muttered, continuing to look at the man she loved, the child she cared for with all her heart, and the friend she trusted.
A second later, a message came through to her cell phone.
"I'm going home with Grandma. Mom doesn't need to pick me up."
From Nathan's message, Elena could conclude that the child was part of their lie.
Elena clutched her cell phone tightly, trying to calm herself before replying.
In a flat voice, she sent a voice message. "Yes, take good care of yourself there with Grandma, okay?" Sending the message.
Message sent, Nathan immediately listened to the message from his mother.
"As always, Mom always believes what I say. You have to give me a gift."
Bianca and Demian smiled proudly.
"Mama's boy is great, now what do you want for a gift? "Bianca asked.
"I want chocolate, and lots of candy," Nathan replied.
"Mom forbids you to eat candy and chocolate, Nathan," Demian warned.
"Dad, why are you like mom who always forbids me to eat chocolate and candy? I'm fine, Dad." Nathan looked angry.
Bianca rubbed Nathan's head, 'Don't listen to your father; he's just afraid of your mother. Now there is Mama Bianca who will obey your every wish."
"Thank you, Mama. You are the best for Nathan,' Nathan replied happily.
Elena had now returned home, standing and staring at the frame of a photo of her family smiling happily.
In a low voice, she said, "If you can live happily without me, why can't I?"
Elena picked up the photo frame and took it to the backyard. There, she set the photo frame and several other photos on fire.
"You will disappear from my life, like these photos, burning to dust."
Elena smiled as she thought of a plan for revenge.
When night fell, Elena prepared her husband and son's favourite meal. She tried to act as if she knew nothing, but her cell phone vibrated before she could serve it.
A message appeared on the screen:
"Nathan and I won't be home tonight. There's something mom wants to talk to me about."
The message was sent by her husband, Demian.
Elena was silent, her heart filled with suspicion. She took her cell phone and called her mother-in-law to ensure everything was okay.
"Mom, are Demian and Nathan there? "she asked, trying to remain calm.
"Yes, they are here. There is something I want to talk to them about. They will be back tomorrow," her mother-in-law replied flatly.
Elena felt a little calmer this time. Her husband was telling the truth, and her mother-in-law's answer slightly dispelled her suspicions.
"All right, ma'am. Thank you."
At the same time, another woman's voice was heard in the background. "Mom, dinner's ready."
"Bianca, He..."
Elena could hardly believe it.
Elena went to Demian's parents' house without knowing Demian and his mother and father-in-law to prove her suspicions.
Upon arrival, Elena listened to their conversation behind the wall separating the living room from the place where they were.
"Dad, Mom, I have good news for you, "Bianca said.
"Good news? What good news do you have, Bianca?" Mr. Wright asked enthusiastically.
"I'm pregnant with Demian's second child," Bianca replied in a spoiled voice.
Elena closed her mouth tightly, trying to hold back tears.
"Really? Are you pregnant again? That's wonderful news! I want a granddaughter as beautiful as her mother," said Mrs Wright, looking very happy.
From their reaction, Elena could conclude that she was the only one who did not know about Demian and Bianca's affair.
"I was right to approve of your relationship. You are indeed the only woman worthy of becoming my daughter-in-law, "Mrs. Wright's voice was heard again.
"You're right, because I'm the only one who can give Demian an heir. But when will I officially become Demian's wife?" Bianca asked, her tone sounding cunning.
"That depends on Demian. He must divorce his wife immediately. Infertile women like Elena are a burden on this family. She is not worth defending, she only brings bad luck to our family," said Mrs Wright scornfully.
Elena stood petrified. Those words broke her heart even more. She didn't expect the woman she thought loved her dearly, like her own daughter, to speak ill of her behind her back.
Tears continued to flow down Elena's cheeks as she left her in-laws' house.
Her steps felt heavy, and her heart ached even more when she remembered every sentence her mother-in-law had spoken.
Elena drove at high speed on the road, going in an uncertain direction, until her car stopped at the cemetery. Without any feeling of fear, she walked down the path leading to the graves of her parents. Upon arriving at the tomb of her parents, Elena collapsed, crying hysterically at the tomb of her parents, along with the heavy rain that began to fall.
The flash, accompanied by lightning, came at the same time. Demian, who was standing and staring at the window, felt anxious.
"Elena, are you okay?" he muttered quietly. 'You must be scared now,' he murmured again.
"Are you thinking about Elena right now, Demian?"
Bianca's voice brought him back from his reverie. Demian did not answer; his eyes focused on the rain pattering down harder and harder, accompanied by flashes of medium-intensity lightning.
Demian's silence made Bianca feel sure what he was saying was true.
"You must be thinking about Elena being afraid of lightning, right? Come on, dear, let's just say Elena is getting used to living on her own. After you guys get divorced, she'll get used to facing her fears, "Bianca assured.
Demian didn't answer. He took a deep breath, trying to justify what Bianca had said.
"Yes, you're right, Bianca," he replied.
Bianca smiled, feeling satisfied. Then she hugged Demian, her slender fingers going into Demian's shirt. The two looked at each other and ended up with a passionate kiss.
Meanwhile, at the cemetery, Elena screamed in fear. She hugged herself. The loud sound of lightning reminded her of the car explosion that killed her parents. The incident several years ago left a deep trauma for Elena, who was the only survivor of the accident.
"Mom, Mom, I'm scared. Don't leave me alone. Dad ... I'm scared."
Elena was delirious.
She slowly opened her eyes and found herself in her room, wrapped in a thick blanket and a heat-reducing compress attached to her forehead.
"Elena, dear, are you awake?"
Elena saw Demian coming with a bowl of warm meat soup on a tray.
Elena was surprised. As she remembered, she was at her parents' gravesite. But now, why was she here?
"The funeral director contacted me last night. He told me about your car parked at the cemetery with the door open." Demian explained as if he understood what Elena was thinking.
That night, Demian and Bianca were making love. Demian's cell phone rang incessantly, forcing Demian to pick it up.
Seeing the name of the funeral director who had contacted him reminded Demian of Elena's grief at missing her parents. Without waiting for Bianca's approval, he went to the funeral home.
Arriving at the cemetery, he saw Elena unconscious and immediately took her home.
Knowing that, Elena did not respond. She was still silent and could only cry.
"It's okay, don't be afraid. I'm here." Demian reached for Elena's hand, holding it gently. He thought Elena was crying because of the fear of lightning last night.
Elena was crying because she remembered Demian's affair and Demian's parents' bad statements about her.
When Demian hugged her, Elena cried even louder, even unconsciously clutching Demian's shoulders when she saw the red mark on Demian's neck.
Elena's long nails pierced Demian's skin but did not make Demian struggle to break free.
After the night incident, Elena went to the hospital the next day. Her goal was discovering the truth about Nathan, the baby she adopted.
He would be proof of Demian's affair with Bianca.
With the help of Liby, her colleague who worked at the hospital where Nathan was adopted, she found the file they were looking for.
"Is this what you're looking for, Elena?" Liby handed over the folder of documents from Bianca's cesarean delivery.
In the documents they found, it was written that Demian Wright and Bianca Odegaard were the biological parents of the baby named Nathan Wright.
Even though Elena already knew everything, seeing the black-and-white evidence was still a very hard blow for her.
"Elena, are you okay?" Liby asked.
Elena nodded.
"Yes, I'm fine. Thank you, Liby. I'll be on my way. Thank you for helping me."
"You're welcome, Elena. But are you sure you'll be able to get home on your own? Let me give you a ride. "Liby offered her help.
"No, thank you. I can get home on my own," Elena tried to convince her.
"All right," Liby replied, resigned.
As Elena was about to leave the archive room, someone greeted her.
"Elena? What happened to you? Are you not okay?"
Plak!
A hard slap landed on Bianca's face.
"I had no idea, all this time I've been keeping a viper in my house!" Elena snapped, her voice trembling with emotion.
Bianca held her numb cheek, staring at Elena in confusion.
"Elena, what are you doing? Why did you slap me? And... What did you mean by that?"
Elena took out Nathan's birth certificate and threw it in Bianca's face.
"You're still asking why? Now explain this!"
Seeing the document, Bianca smiled sarcastically. Instead of being afraid or feeling guilty, she laughed wickedly.
"So, you know?" she asked casually.
"You jerk, Bianca! Why did you do this to me? "Elena wanted to slap Bianca again, but Liby stopped her immediately.
"Elena, control your emotions. Don't use violence; this could get you reported to the police for violence. Don't destroy your self-esteem for someone like him," Liby warned her.
Hearing that, Bianca laughed even harder. Satisfied at Elena's stupidity.
"Elena, Elena, you really are stupid. You easily believe everything I say," she said.
"Do you want to know why I'm doing this? "Bianca approached, staring at Elena with a hateful look.
"Because I envy you! You're beautiful, smart, talented, from a rich family, and everyone likes you. Whereas me? I've always been in your shadow." Bianca continued with a hateful voice.
"When your parents died, I thought you would suffer like me. But what happened? The Wright family took care of you, treated you like their own child, and even made you their daughter-in-law! You know, I liked Demian from the start, but what did you do? After graduating from college, you got married without my consent," Bianca explained emotionally.
"So, who is the real bad guy here? You, Elena! You're the bad guy! "Bianca laughed again with satisfaction.
"You're a crazy woman, Bianca!" Elena shouted, her voice breaking with anger.
"Yes, Elena!" Bianca replied in a louder voice." I am crazy. I went crazy because of your mistakes. If you had given me your happiness from the start, given Demian to me, without me asking, none of this would have happened. You wouldn't have lost the baby in the womb and you wouldn't have lost your womb either."
"Baby? What... what are you talking about, Bianca? Are you..."
"Yes, you're absolutely right, Elena. I'm the one who made you lose your baby, I'm the one who told people to harm you when you were back at the shopping center, do you remember that? And... I'm also the one who paid the doctor to remove your uterus, that way you'll never be able to get pregnant again, and I'll take your place." Bianca laughed smugly.
Meanwhile, Elena recalled the moment she had the accident-the event that was the main cause of her losing her baby and her ability to get pregnant again. The doctor at the time decided to remove her uterus for her safety.
At that time, Elena had just returned from the shopping centre. She was eight months pregnant and driving her car alone to buy her personal needs.
But on the way, a truck ran a red light, causing an accident. The car that Elena was riding in was the only victim, but in the news, it was mentioned that Elena was the cause of the accident because she ran a red light.
Because of the accident, Elena lost her baby in the womb due to a hard impact. She also had to have her uterus removed because she was diagnosed with complications.
Since the accident, her mother and father-in-law had changed. But since Elena adopted Nathan, her mother-in-law was kind again. Unwittingly, her kindness was a conspiracy to cover up Bianca's whereabouts and Nathan's status.
"You... Bianca... You really are a woman with the heart of a devil! What did I do wrong? Why did you have the heart to kill my unborn child?" Elena couldn't contain her sadness.
Bianca responded with laughter again, this time with a colder-sounding voice.
"Because I want to take everything from you, seeing you suffer is my wish. And making my child the main heir to the Wright family is my goal. Do you understand that, Elena?"
After saying that, Bianca left with satisfaction.
Elena was shaken; she almost fell, but Liby quickly helped her.
"Elena, are you okay?"
"It's okay, thank you. You helped me again."
Elena got back on her feet and walked away, leaving Liby looking worried.
Elena arrived home at night and found her husband, Demian, back from work.
"Mom, are you home?"
Nathan greeted her enthusiastically.
"Mom, dad has prepared dinner for you. I'll help dad set the table, let's have dinner together," she continued, still with a smile on her small lips.
In the past, Elena would have been happy. Maybe she would have cried with emotion to get attention from her children and husband.
But now, after discovering everything, no warmth was left in her heart.
Only hatred remained.
Without saying a word, Elena passed them, climbing the stairs to her room on the second floor of her residence with Demian.
"Dad, mom, why? "Nathan asked, surprised by Elena's attitude.
"I don't know, maybe your mom has a lot on her mind," Demian replied.
"A lot of thoughts? What is she thinking? She is just an ordinary pharmacist, not doing anything important. Unlike Mama Bianca, a great entrepreneur and international model, "Nathan grinned, looking down on Elena, who was now out of sight.
"Nathan, watch your mouth!" Demian admonished. "If your mother hears you, she might get angry."
Nathan laughed lightly. "Angry? Dad, what's there to be afraid of? Mama Bianca said, And Grandma, she's just a weak woman who can't have children. You should divorce her and make Mama Bianca the mistress of this house."
"Nathan, what are you talking about, you shouldn't..." Deian did not continue his sentence when he noticed Elena's arrival.
"Elena, you're back? Let's have dinner together?" Demian tried to smile, even though he couldn't read the expression on Elena's face.
Elena stepped closer, then said flatly, 'Yes, I will have dinner with you, so if anyone feels they are not part of this family, please leave the table.' She spoke without looking at Demian and Nathan.
Seconds later, the servers around the table did as Elena ordered.
Thinking everything was fine, what Elena said surprised them both.
"You go too, you're just a foundling here. Not from my family!" Talking to Nathan.
The words surprised Demian
"Elena, what do you mean? Nathan is our son,"
Elena smiled lightly.
"Son?" A second later, Elena laughed lightly. 'Whose son? Have you forgotten Demian? Our son is dead, and I can't get pregnant again. So how could we possibly have a child?"
"Elena, don't talk like that! It's not good for Nathan's mental health,' Demian said, his tone of voice restraining his anger.
However, Elena did not show the slightest remorse.
"Mental breakdown, you say? Why should it be destroyed? This is the reality. He is a foster child, not my son. I have no blood ties with him!"
Nathan bowed his head, looking sad at what Elena said.
"Dad, what do you mean? Does that mean you don't consider me your son? "he asked with a trembling voice, almost crying.
"That's not true. I'm just talking. Now, you'd better go to your room," Demian asked gently.
"But, Dad..."
"Go on!" Demian snapped." The maid will bring you dinner later."
Nathan stared angrily at Elena, then left with disappointment visible on his face. But Elena was just as indifferent.
After Nathan's departure, Demian pulled a chair for Elena and said, "Darling, let's eat."
Then he gave an order to the waiter. 'Bring dinner for Nathan."
However, Elena immediately cut him off in a sharp tone.' I won't allow it!"
Demian looked at her with furrowed brows. "Why, Elena? Poor Nathan, he hasn't eaten since earlier."
Elena looked at him indifferently. 'Did I tell him not to eat? So, why should I care?' she said as she began to enjoy her dinner as if nothing had happened.
Demian clenched his fists, holding back his anger again. "Elena, what happened to you? Why do you suddenly hate Nathan? Didn't you used to love him very much? Nathan also loves and cares for you. But why are you saying such terrible things in front of him now?" Demian asked in a disappointed tone.
"That was then, not now, everyone changes, so do you and I,"
"Yes, I know, but whoever Nathan is, you shouldn't talk like that!"
"Do you think I care?" Elena asked, annoyed by his indifferent attitude.
Demian stared at her sharply." So, you don't love Nathan anymore?"
Elena slowly put down her spoon, then stared coldly at Demian.
"You could say that. I'm even thinking of returning him to the hospital or an orphanage. Or... maybe leaving him on the street."
Demian gasped. "Elena!" Demian could no longer contain his anger.
"Are you aware of what you're saying? Nathan is our son! We have taken care of him since he was a baby! We adopted him, and that means Nathan is both of our responsibility!"
Without answering, Elena grabbed a piece of paper from the hospital and threw it at Demian.
