Return of the forsaken Heiress: Regret of her Ex-husband

Author: : M_dee
Genre: Billionaires
For a man whom she has spent 7 years with, married for 3, infertility was enough for him to cast her aside, replacing her with his mistress whom was already pregnant. But maybe getting cast aside was a blessing in disguise, Elisa returns home to regain her rightful place as the heiress of the Gilbert's house, and what follows after is the continuous regret of her Ex-husband. After all, the saying goes this way: You don't know the value of what you have until you lose it.

Chapter 1 Untitled

Elisa's POV

I am getting tired, I don't know how much longer I have to tolerate everything going on in this house, it's honestly starting to piss me off.

"Are you not going to eat before heading out?" I asked in a low voice staring at my husband, Derrick's back, a hint of anger in my voice.

"I don't have time to do that, I'm late." Derrick replied making me cork my head sideways.

"Are you sure?" I asked once more, then he stood up aggressively making me furrow my brows, what is he on about?

"Don't probe too much, you should be in the kitchen instead, you're quite useless compared to other women, you can't even do things right, so don't pester me." He responded with a huff.

I raised my eyebrows folding my arms, I might not be that good in the kitchen but whose fault is it?

"If I remember correctly you asked me to quit my job and be a stay at home wife, so what's all this ruckus for now?" I fired back.

"You this unfilial brat, what do you think you're doing talking to my son like that?" Derrick's mother came in all of a sudden making me roll my eyes.

He is such a Mama's boy, it's no wonder his mother would want to speak up for him, quite pathetic if you ask me.

"Whatever, I'll be in the kitchen." I waved them off and went to clear up the dishes, since he doesn't want to eat then he should sort himself out.

I can't be wasting my time cooking just for the human I put in effort for, telling me that he doesn't want it.

"What's with this attitude?" Derrick's mother came in watching me pack all the food into the fridge.

"I cooked for one person, you're welcome to eat your son's food if you like but keep it in mind you'll have to prepare him a new one after that."

With that, I walked away from her only to be pulled back with my hair causing me to hiss in pain.

"Watch the tone you speak to me! I'm your husband's mother!" She yelled angrily.

"Exactly, you're my husband's mother so I'm going to give you the grace of 3 seconds to let go of my hair or you won't like my reaction."

At first she was hesitant to let me go but eventually she gave in under my harsh stare.

Finally released, I straightened my clothes ready to walk out, that's when her words made me stop.

"That attitude of yours is the reason why you don't have children, God doesn't want to give a wicked woman like you a child."

I took in a deep breath deciding to ignore the old woman and then walked out.

Me retaliating would only bring more headache.

By the time I reached my room, I passed a mirror, and went back only to see tears rolling down my face.

"Oh I'm crying." I muttered cleaning my tears slowly.

Maybe her words did more damage than I thought, after all, the second reason why I quit my job was so that Derrick and I could focus on having a child.

It's been a year since I quit now nothing.

Sighing I collapsed on the bed trying not to remember the bad things as I tried to sleep, I couldn't enjoy my sleep cause I woke up to cook for that ungrateful husband of mine.

Waking up from my blissful sleep, I saw that it was already noon, yawning and stretching my body, I got off the bed.

Maybe I should quickly make a spa appointment today, after all crying could mess up one's face.

Then I should go shopping, clasping my hands with a smile, I went to take a shower having a change of clothes before leaving the room.

"Where do you think you're going to?" Derrick's mother asked making me roll my eyes, is this woman a monitoring spirit or what?

Can't she just leave me be? Ever since she came here 1 year ago, she's been nagging nonstop, my ears may start bleeding at this rate.

"A place that Is none of your business." I responded with a sneer before storming out.

Honestly I'm beginning to regret this marriage, I loved Derrick, yes, but I hate this, my every moves being monitored, not working or having to enter the kitchen for anything.

It is so annoying, the only reason why I'm managing everything is because of my love for Derrick, God help me if all that manages to fade the first person I'm getting is his mom.

She is so annoying despite her old age.

As soon as I got to my spa appointment, I threw away thoughts of my husband or his mother away from my mind.

Adding their thoughts in a time that's supposed to be relaxing defeats the whole purpose.

After my spa treatment and shopping, I drove home humming a tone happily, shopping does erase all worries from the mind.

Smiling, I took my bags from the backseat as I headed home only to notice the whole house was dark.

"That's weird." I muttered as I inputted the door code.

Derrick's mother is jobless, where could she have gone to this late? As for Derrick his office closed ages ago, now that I think of it, he has been coming home late these days.

Strange.

Deciding not to bother, I went inside my room and dropped my bag arranging everything before collapsing on the bed.

I had eaten before coming home so there's no need for me to prepare dinner.

I loved working, but maybe spending all day shopping and going to a spa isn't so bad.

With a soft smile, I fell asleep unaware of the trouble that will reveal itself the next day.

A trouble that will make Elisa Gilbert rise from the deep dirt she was buried.

------------------

"Wake up." A voice said as someone shook me on the bed aggressively.

I frowned before opening my eyes to see, Derrick, his mother, and another girl behind them.

What are they up to now? It's too early for their shenanigans, I just want to sleep some more.

Chapter 2 Untitled

ELISA'S POV CONTD

"Stand up." Mother in law ordered making me scrunch my nose, this woman is testing my damn nerves.

"If you want to eat, go get the damn food yourself, don't interrupt my sleep." I hissed in anger shutting my eyes while ignoring her.

"Is that a way to speak to my mother?" Derrick questioned angrily.

Remind me why I chose to fall in love with this loser of all people, probably the charm he had when we were in college, now his annoyance is beginning to surpass that charm.

"You should be grateful that all I'm doing to her is speaking in that manner." I grumbled, then all of a sudden, someone yanked me from the bed and I fell to the ground, my butt hitting the floor hard.

"Okay what the heck!" I yelled standing up, my eyes blazing with anger.

I could see Derrick recoil back in fear, he knew nothing good would come out of my anger, then why cause it in the first place.

"Why are you yelling at me? You have bo right in this house, no authority, you are just an infertile woman taking up space."

My eyes twitched aggressively hearing her words, I clenched and unclenched my fists trying to control the urge to smash this darn woman head into a wall.

Before I could utter a word, Derrick's mother brought the girl that was standing in the background to her front.

"Unlike you, this girl is quite fruitful and now she is carrying my grandchild." She said making me stunned.

I stared at her, then at the girl, then at the girl's belly before glancing at Derrick.

"You cheated?" I asked in a calm voice.

He looked away giving me the answer I want.

What did I expect from a bastard like him, well at least now he has given me a good reason to leave him.

"I'm so sorry ma'am, Sir Derrick and I are in love, and this child is as a result of our love, I hope you aren't mad." I glanced at the girl and scoffed at her words.

"Yeah right, you fell in love with a married man and someone end up conceiving his child, I'm not dumb, I know what happens to have a child it's not just loving each other that brings them into this world." I paused for a bit staring at them.

"I'm not just sure who seduced who first, if you're the one, let me tell you, what makes you so sure that a man who cheated once won't do so again."

"Elisa!" Derrick yelled.

"You fucking bastard, don't yell at me!" I hissed angrily before sighing and taking in a deep breath.

"So you brought her so I can leave right? Now get out, I need to pack my things."

Derrick's mother stared at me suspiciously before leaving with the bimbo.

"Aren't you going to beg?" Derrick asked making me sigh, "What? You expect me to beg you? You are the one that cheated, you are lucky I'm not castrating you Derrick."

"You are going to regret this." He stated pointing his finger at me, while I stared him coldly, "No Derrick, you're the one going to regret this." I answered with a smile that didn't reach my eyes.

In anger, he stormed out of the room slamming the door shut.

With everyone gone, I sunk in my bed feeling a bit dejected, hurt, disappointment and anger hit me all at once.

Despite acting like it didn't affect me, I am still human after all, and betrayals no matter how big or small will definitely affect me.

"Well, I guess this chapter is closed." Sighing once more, I got up from my bed and packed my things into a suitcase, dragging it out.

My parents will be way too happy when they hear this.

Muttering curses under my breath I finally reached the parlour, seeing the way Derrick's mother and himself were fawning over his mistress, it makes me want to puke.

Only if the girl knew what is in store for her if she stays with this dude, well it's none of my business, let her eat the fruits of her labour.

"Expect the divorce papers." I announced calmly before walking out, not looking back.

They were not worth a second glance after all.

I hailed a cab, watching the trees fly pass as I imagined my parents expression.

They warned me against marrying Derrick, but I had insisted on it.

Recollecting our last fight, my face flushed red with embarrassment.

"Are you okay ma'am?" The taxi driver asked with concern and I nodded indicating I was.

Ha! My younger self was such a fool, well, lesson learnt, never again.

Looking at the huge gates before me I sighed, I guess today will be my highest number of counts for sighing.

Ringing the doorbell, I tapped my foot on the floor waiting impatiently.

"Elisa!" The moment the door opened up I was greeted with my mother's enthusiastic face, then she grabbed me hugging me extremely tight.

"Ma, you're going to squeeze me to death." I struggled to say, this woman is too jolly for her own good.

"You left home for a while and then refused to come visit, now you won't let me hug you, your so ungrateful." She pouted making me resign.

"You don't have to worry, you'll be seeing my face more often now." I gestured to the suitcase behind my back and she instantly frowned.

"What the hell?" She cursed, "Did that bastard chase you out?"

"He cheated, got someone pregnant." I said with a shrugged.

"Oh, my baby." She cried hugging me even tighter that before.

Did she realize we are still outside? Well it doesn't matter anyway, we own all 10,000 square feet.

"Now that you're single, do you mind going on a blind date?" My left eye twitched a bit, maybe I should have looked for an apartment instead of coming home, I am not prepared for another round of fake smiles and meeting spoilt brats.

"Come on let's go in." She said dragging me into the compound leaving my suitcase outside.

"You don't need that crap, you have better designer dresses at home." Wasn't this woman crying few seconds ago?

Guess this is welcome back home for me.

Chapter 3 Untitled

"You're here." My dad pointed out coldly.

"Her husband cheated on her." My mother said instantly making me sigh, couldn't she have waited till the old man was calm.

"I told you not to marry that man." Father sneered angrily while I shrugged.

"How do you plan to deal with it? Would you leave him be?"

"Of course not." I responded settling down on the chair opposite my father.

The Gilbert family, a household name that is not to be trifled with.

After all, running a billion dollar company comes with some power.

That is the family I came from, and the same one I am set to rule in the nearest future.

Ignoring an issue like cheating is something my dad would not let me tolerate but honestly retaliating against that asshole is a waste of energy, for an ego as big as his, living my best life is the best revenge.

The main reason why I didn't even tell him about my real identity was because of that ego of his, coming out as The Elisa Gilbert will hurt his pride so much.

"I'll contact his company, he would be fired." I stated simply, making my dad furrow his brows together.

"Don't tell me you're still in love with someone who betrayed you." As expected, he thinks my punishment is too light.

"That family has very poor spending habits and don't save at all, if he gets fired without any payment, there's no way for him to take care of himself, his mother, his mistress and his unborn child." I explained calmly.

"Unborn child?" My mother asked staring at my stomach for a bit, quickly averting her gaze so I won't notice.

No matter how hard they tried to hide it, it seems they want a grandchild too.

"If you need me, I'll be in my room." I said politely, trying to escape.

I was about to climb the staircase when my mother called me to halt.

"There will be a party thrown to welcome you tomorrow, I'll tell you the venue later, make sure to pick a proper clothing." I hummed in response continuing my ascent.

"I'm worried about her dear." I heard my mother's distant voice, she shouldn't be, I'm stronger than she thinks.

I got to my room and collapsed on my bed groaning, what a hectic day.

Now that I am back, I guess dad will leave the company for me to handle.

When I insisted on getting married to Derrick, he had only let me stay as a head of office just so I could take care of myself even without my husband's money.

The old man truly cared even if he was too strict about it.

My phone dinged with a text and I reached into my pocket grabbing it.

It is a text from dad.

"What?" I exclaimed sitting up on my bed, what the duck does he mean that to get the CEO position I must get married?

Does that make sense? His daughter just came of out a marriage that ended up in misery.

I was getting ready to meet him when mom's text came in, telling me the venue for the party.

I frowned reading her text as I bit my lip, he sent it as a text meaning that he didn't want mom to know, storming down there will make her aware and cause her to worry.

I guess I'll have to confront him later.

Sighing, I laid back down on bed slowly drifting off to sleep.

I can't help but wonder, if I did conceive would the story have been different?

Well I guess I will never know.

----------------------

The next day came quickly, I woke up and went downstairs to see every where empty, I guessed my mom must have taken the staffs to prepare for the party while my dad went to work.

Sluggishly I ate my breakfast before going back upstairs, opening my laptop ready to work when my mom's text came in to remind me of the time for the party.

"She way too excited for this." I muttered suspiciously, but decided to push that aside.

I turned on my laptop and went through my email, trying to keep up with the company's latest news.

"What?" I murmured noticing something different in a particular sector.

I'll have to check that when I assume office.

I was deeply engrossed in work and before I knew it the time for the party reached.

I stood up begrudgingly, getting ready for the party.

"They are still not back?" I asked myself as I noticed the empty house, left with no other choice I picked up one of the car keys, and then left.

By the time I arrived at the venue it had people in the the restaurant, didn't they normally book the whole place?

Something felt off, deciding to ignore my whole body screaming I should leave, I tried to locate the private room, and after asking a receptionist she ordered a waitress to lead me there.

I stood in front of the door, my heart pounding wildly against my chest, something felt off, I just couldn't place my finger on it.

Taking in a deep breath, I twisted the door knob and pushed the door open, color draining from my face as I saw the cold figure sitting nonchalantly at the other side of the table.

My mother had tricked me! She had set up a blind date, and out of all people to do that with she chose Damon Throne.

I immediately turned around ready to run away, when his words made me freeze.

"You're really going to run away after not seeing me for three years?" He asked, his voice cool and refreshing.

I turned back to see his dark eyes piercing at me nervously making me gulp.

"Hey.... Damon." I stuttered trying my best to calm my nerves.

A Gilbert shouldn't act like this, but who am I kidding? Back in my lovestruck past, I had insulted Damon badly because he was against me being with Derrick.

He was a very good friend, yet I pushed him away, now he is Infront of me as my blind date.

Mother, what the hell did you?
