Return Of The Rejected Luna

Author: : Karl Mario
Genre: Werewolf
BLURB Have you ever seen a Luna who doesn't have a wolf? This was Hazel's case. She was confused at the news. At first, she thought that the moon goddess was playing tricks with her, that she was going to have a wolf but this was not the case. No one was ever going to be mated to one who did not have a wolf because such a person was weaker than a human being. Although she doesn't have a wolf, she had a betrothed who was an Alpha wolf, which gained her the qualification to be Luna. She was disrespected and mocked wherever she entered, but she strengthened her resolve and ruled the pack because she was in love with Damon - the Alpha prince Her resolve seemed to be weakened when Damon rejected her in front of the pack during a mating ceremony and mated her best friend. She left the palace in tears and closed her heart to love until the arrival of an Alpha King - Kai. Would she allow the love to blossom or would the love between them lead to their separation??

Chapter 1 The beginning

4 pm, a cold afternoon

Hazel came back to hear the bickering of her parents

"When will it end?" She thought to herself

Ever since she knew how to pronounce her name, she realized that their marriage was a loveless one.

She sighed, she had no say in the marriage, she had tried several attempts to bring her family back together but it was looking like her efforts were not producing fruitful results.

"Why do I have to end up with a beta like you, I knew countless times the Alpha wolves pleaded with me to get married to them, but I rejected their proposal because I was waiting for my mate" Her mother started

Hazel rolled her eyes as she stood by the door, her amber eyes watching the scenario playing out in front of her

"If I had known that the moon goddess would bless me with a useless beta like you, I would have long married the Alpha wolf" She ended

The one who she was speaking to lacked words to say.

Hazel had known a long time ago that her mother was one who nags a lot and her father was the gentle type.

From all angles, they were compatible, the scenario playing in front of her showed her that the marriage would be of two types- Arranged or force

"How do I go to my room without being noticed?" She thought to herself as she was too lazy to argue with her mother.

The drama was still going on, and she was beginning to lose interest in it, she had found an escape route that led to her room, and she was climbing the staircase when her mother's eyes sighted her.

"Where are you coming from young lady?" Her mother asked her a question stopping her in her tracks

"Where would I come from apart from the outskirts of the town?" She answered the question in her mind, she was afraid to answer her mother on the basis that she did not know what her mother's reaction would be.

"Sophia let the poor girl go," Her father said.

She was relieved by the statement that her father made, she looked at her mother and realized that her mother had kept mute

Hazel took it as a tactic agreement and she ascended the staircase.

"You do not dictate to me what I should do and what I should not do in this house," Sophia said

"You're full of troubles, where is the innocent young wolf?? I agreed to be your mate because of the innocent look or were you pretending??" A deep male voice filled with immense wisdom said.

Sophia rolled her eyes at the statement, Hazel stood at the top of the staircase as tears ran down her cheeks.

Her father was the commander-in-chief of the werewolf army while her mother had a special place in the royal home.

They held high status in the pack which made her to be the envy of all ranks, she sighed to herself.

After her father had rescued her with the words he had said, he restrained himself from talking. The little act of his did not pacify Sophia as she kept on ranting.

Her eyes locked with Hazel's eyes as she said

"Your rank will be announced during the moon ceremony, do not let me down"

Hazel kept mute as she had already known the answer to whatever Sophia was saying.

"Don't mind the words she speaks, rank or no rank, you'll always be my daughter" Her father said.

A bitter smile crept up her cheeks as she entered the room

"What do I do to salvage the situation?" She pondered to herself as she lay down on the big blue bed.

Everything in her life looked like a dream, she wished that it was a dream, she hoped it was a dream, but it was the harsh reality.

The moon ceremony was several weeks away, wolves of different ranks had already begun to make preparations for that day, all except one.

At first, she saw no reason to attend the moon ceremony, her house was on fire and she was afraid of the outcome, she did not wish to be embarrassed at such a huge gathering in the presence of all ranks of wolves.

"What do I do?" She pondered to herself as she was getting confused and frustrated about the whole issue.

Different thoughts ran through her mind, only the moon goddess knew what she was thinking.

She was a book lover no doubt, she had spent half of her years collecting books of every sort and every kind.

"If every story has a happy ending, I wish that mine should have a happy ending" This thought had been on her mind for quite some time

She took a deep breath and opened the book, she was about to read the first page when she heard a knock on the door.

She stood up from wherever she sat on and headed to the door, opened the door and she found out that it was her father by the door.

Hazel was shocked at the current situation because this was the first time in a long while that her father had visited her although they lived under the same roof.

"May I come in?" Her father asked.

She nodded to her father and allowed him to gain entrance to the room.

Her father entered the room and sat on the bed while Hazel sat down on the stool which was quite a distance from where her father sat.

Her father sighed but there was nothing he could do as he needed to speak with her

"Have you discovered your wolf yet?" He began with a question.

Hazel was shocked at the question thrown at her, she did not know how to answer the question.

There was silence in the room, she looked at her father's eyes and realized that there was a little bit of tenderness in those cold eyes of his.

She did not answer him as she was afraid of his reaction. The answer lay deep in her heart waiting for a time to be unraveled.

Chapter 2 A life of pain

Hazel pondered on the last words that her father had spoken

"How has it gotten to this?" She pondered, looking at the birds that flew freely in the sky, a sad smile was seen on her lips, she yearned for freedom.

"What is my life turning to?" She pondered on the direction of her life.

She had been a free one who was untainted by the sin of the world, she had no cares of the world until the incident happened that shattered the core of her being.

Ever since the incident happened, she felt that her life was no longer hers, but the pack's.

To the high-ranked and low-ranked wolves in the pack, she noticed that their gazes were filled with envy whenever she looked in their direction.

"Who would I blame for this? Myself or my parents?" She thought to herself.

At the present moment, she had no one to talk to, the one who understood her emotions was not with her currently.

Her countenance was changing at every passing moment.

The sound of a cup nearing its end brought her out of her reverie and she went to look at the situation.

The jade cup which her father loved, mother had broken the cup. She noticed the pain and tiredness in his eyes.

"When will this end?" Hazel was confused about the situation.

"Where do I start from?" She pondered.

She sat down and placed her hand on her cheeks, she was too helpless to do anything and she hated the feeling.

She never knew that a pair of eyes was watching her every movement and a confused expression was seen on the intruder's face.

"What are you thinking about?" A feminine voice said.

She turned towards the one who had spoken the statement as a perplexed expression was seen on her face.

The gloomy countenance in which she had was replaced by an amused countenance

"What are you wearing??" Hazel asked

"I'll answer your question if you will reply to mine" The intruder said.

Wondering who this intruder was

She was the daughter of a powerful Alpha who was a member of the werewolf council, Her name --- Avery.

Avery turned to look at Hazel and she was able to detect what was going on by her mere look alone

"You can't be serious right?" Avery asked.

Hazel chuckled

"You've figured it out" She replied

"Since you know the answer to my question, what the hell are you wearing??" Hazel asked

"It's a new concept that I am working on" Avery replied.

"The heck, who goes about wearing such combination this period" Hazel pondered in her heart.

"Did you take a good look at yourself before moving out of the home?"

Hazel asked as she was once again baffled at the appearance of this friend of hers, like the heck, who goes about wearing a yellow trouser on a bright pink shirt?? Different types of sneakers with different designs.

"I didn't want go with the norm, I needed to be special" Avery replied.

Hazel rolled her eyes after hearing the news, seriously she wanted to be different and she chose this??

"What's wrong with the clothes, isn't it nice??"

Hazel sighed, her friend could be a little bit dramatic, she prayed to the moon goddess to give her a friend and she got this.

Hazel looked at the colour of her hair and a confused expression was seen on her face.

"Was she sleeping or what" Hazel pondered. She could not get the answer to her question so she decided to ask Avery.

"The colours on your hair.." She began

Avery was confused

"What about the colours on my hair??" Avery asked as she was perplexed on the statement that Hazel had made, she knew Hazel to be one who gives complete sentence so she wondered on what could have made her stopped her sentence mid-way.

"Were you sleeping when the dye was applied on your hair??" Hazel asked her as an amused expression was seen on her face.

Avery's hair was a combination of three colours - white, black and red.

"No, I chose the colours" Avery replied.

Hazel was confused about the whole situation.

Avery saw the look on Hazel face and was perplexed, she thought that the color combination on her hair would make one marvel

It fulfilled its mission of making one marvel but in a weird and amusing way

"You'll never cease to amaze me, how do you come up with such crazy concepts?" Hazel asked.

Avery kept mute as she had no words to reply. Silence reigned in the room but it did not last for long as a statement was made by Avery that made the hair on Hazel's hand stand.

"Let's go shopping," Avery said.

Hazel scanned the clothes that Avery wore and was once again baffled by her sight.

"You're going out, on this?" Hazel said

Avery chuckled

"I need every rank of wolves to see the concept that I am wearing" She replied.

Hazel looked at her like someone who had grown two heads, She realized that Avery was dragging her, and she succumbed to fate as Avery was the only one who could understand her.

Avery was picking up the clothes but Hazel seemed to be absentminded, she was brought back by a tap on her shoulders, and she heaved a sigh of relief when she realized that it was her friend who had committed such an act.

"Don't be troubled, everything will be fine" Avery said, her eyes having a tinge of pity and concern in them.

Hazel sighed as she saw the look in Avery's eyes, this was the reason why she had never wanted to tell anyone about her problems, she hated the look of pity.

She knew that it was an unintentional act from Avery, she shook her head, trying to let go of the gloomy countenance and focusing on the present.

She could feel gazes directed at them, she chuckled, Avery was busy waving her hand, Hazel chuckled as she never knew that Avery could be this crazy.

"I wish, I could be free from this burden," She thought to herself as the duo walked out of the mall.CHAPTER FIVE

THE SET-UP

"What crime have I committed?" Hazel pondered, looking at the guard who stood by her doorstep. The guard looked at her for some time and without a word, he left her presence.

She took a deep breath before following suit. Avery wondered what was going on, she turned to look at the messenger and was shocked to the marrow when she figured out who he was.

This was a secret squad trained by Alpha Damon, they are known to be ruthless, they're silent but do not mess with them because the end product is destruction.

Hazel looked at Avery and noticed the confused expression on her face, she sighed. She could not say a word as she was afraid of what the outcome might be.

Different thoughts ran through their head, as they moved silently, any mistake could lead to their graves, both of them loved their lives as no one was ready to be six feet beneath the ground

The one in the front never knew that his presence had struck fear in their hearts.

He never stopped till he got to the palace

"What's going on??" Hazel pondered in her heart as she couldn't shake the ominous feeling from her heart.

They got to the palace, Hazel did not admire the beauty of the palace, Her mind was filled with unanswered questions, at this present atmosphere, It was useless to ask such a question.

"How do I get away from this? " Avery pondered as she was feeling less concerned about Hazel, she never knew the crime that Hazel had committed.

She does not want to be dragged into a war in which she does not know the beginning or what had transpired before now.

"How do I escape this?" Avery racked her brains trying to come up with an excuse to leave Hazel up but none of her plans seemed to be working.

**************************************

The werewolf council was meant to be a bustling place with ideas flowing everywhere but it was not so as it was as silent as a graveyard

Members of the werewolf council were afraid to air out their views because of the one who sat on the golden seat.

Wondering who he was, here is a sneak peek

He was an emotionless Alpha who ruled with precise decisions, no one challenged his decisions as the end is death.

He loved silence, anyone who dared to make the slightest noise would be six feet under the ground, his whole being screamed danger as many wolves were on their toes whenever he was in their presence

A young guy having porcelain skin tone, brown curly hair reaching his back, clad in a white robe and purple sash tied around his waist, a golden neck chain laying gracefully on his neck.

An Alpha wolf who is a warrior, His name -- Damon.

"Was I this scary in the eyes of other wolves" Damon sighed as he looked at the one who was meant to give reports about the strategy of the incoming war.

Damon cold gaze pierced through the one who was about to begin his speech.

"Here is it my lord," One of the Council of Elders said as he handed over the documents to Damon.

Damon kept mute and everyone was on their toes as they had resigned themselves to fate.

The one who had brought the information was trembling as sweat began to pour out of his face.

Damon who was the cause of all this still was scanning the document with a confused expression on his face.

He looked up and sighed at the expression he found on their faces

"I have never tortured them before or have I??" Damon pondered although he masked his expression with an expressionless face.

"What happened to the other one?" His cold voice resounded

"It had been implemented by the ones in the human realm, my lord" The Council of Elders replied.

Damon shoots a piercing gaze at him

"The perpetrator is apprehended and they're on their way as we speak" He replied.

Damon raised a brow at him, and the one who had spoken felt his legs grow weak, he knelt on the floor and bowed his face to the ground.

"What the heck is he doing??" Damon thought as he saw the situation unfolding.

The tension was high in the execution room, Damon sighed out loud which made every member of the werewolf council shiver.

The tension was relieved by the presence of a young man having an ivory skin tone, brown long hair reaching his waist region with curls at the tip, clad in a blue robe with a white sash tied to his waist.

He was the second-in-command in administering justice to the people, Damon's Beta.

His name is Jack.

**************************************

The execution grounds opened and they were relieved by the presence of the ones who had entered.

Hazel was shedding tears although she never knew why, she understood that entering the werewolf council meant one thing - That she was going to face judgment and it was not going to be a good one.

The look on their faces made her a little bit scared, they were looking at her like ravenous wolves ready to devour her.

"What is with all these looks?" She pondered, she knew for a fact that she had entered the den of wolves and she was not going to leave this den unscathed.

One of the Council of Elders stood up and cleared his throat

"You've betrayed the pack and the consequences of such will be dire," He said.

Hazel was confused about the whole situation

"How has she betrayed the pack??" Hazel wondered to herself as curiosity set in, she wanted to know what exactly had she done.

"You sold the former strategy to the human realm". One of the Council of Elders said

"Any evidence??" Hazel asked although she was a little bit scared.

"I'm a witness" she heard a voice as she was surprised at the one who had entered the execution grounds

Chapter 3 The Meeting (1)

Hazel came back home and met her father in a gloomy countenance, she was surprised at what had happened.

"Why is he in such a mood?" She pondered to herself, Avery had wanted to get a particular wear for her father so she left Avery at the store and hurried back home.

"Where's that useless daughter of mine??" She heard her mother ranting, she was not in the mood to argue with her mother, she ascended the stairs before her mother's figure could be seen.

She was perplexed about the whole situation.

"What is going on?" She thought to herself as she wondered what could have caused such a reaction from her father

Hazel was too lazy to bother about the words spoken by her mother, she hated that woman with passionately that her mere presence irritated her.

She had locked herself in the room and had wanted to call Avery so that she would not come to her abode again.

Hazel felt restless, it had been a long time since she had this feeling, she waved the feeling off as she continued what she was doing

"What's my life turning into?" She pondered.

The house was becoming too hot and unbearable for her to stay. She thought about the blissful times she had with her parents and tears ran down her cheeks.

A knock interrupted her thought as she cleaned her tears and opened the door, baffled by the one she saw at the door.

"What are you doing here?? Didn't you get my text??" Hazel asked

"Oh please, stop with the questions, I'm here to accompany you, don't you dare push me back" Avery replied

Hazel looked at her dress and noticed that she had changed from her previous dress, the one she was wearing looked a little bit mature.

Avery was wearing a flowery gown with black boot heels.

"I was looking so awkward so I went to a store to get this" Avery said as she scratched her hair

A smirk found its way to Hazel's lips as she stared at Avery, her eyes scanned through her hair and she noticed that her hair was of two colors - Black and white.

Hazel raised her eyes as Avery bowed her head

"You decided to change your concept right??" Hazel asked her

Avery lacked words to say as there was an unusual glint in her eyes. Hazel saw the look in her eyes and shivered

"For a wolf like you to change your wears, you deserve an award, or did something happen when you were at the store??" Hazel asked Avery as she was still confused about the sudden change in Avery's dress.

Avery played with the hem of her garment, her eyes did not meet Hazel's eyes.

Hazel could depict the incident from the way she looked.

"You didn't cause trouble or did you??" Hazel asked.

Avery was mute for a minute as she shook her head.

"Found your crush??" Hazel asked further

For the first time in a long while, a smile was seen on her face as she nodded her head.

"I was too embarrassed to meet him that way so I had to change my wears"

"Wow!! The only one that can make Avery change her wears without uttering a word, I need to see the wolf and congratulate him for a job well done" Hazel said.

Avery's eyes dimmed as different lifetimes passed through her face as she sat on the bed, a sigh escaped her lips.

Hazed took a deep breath and sat beside her

"He doesn't know??" Hazel asked further

"I was too afraid to let him know" Avery replied.

Hazel rolled her eyes as she thought of how her friend could be dense at times.

"I wish I could tell him that I love him, why was it difficult to confess to the one you love," Avery said.

Hazel pondered on the last word spoken by Avery and her countenance changed, although she tried not to show it, she was a little bit affected by the words that Avery said.

"Will I ever find love?" She thought to herself. Her whole life had been dictated by her parent and it was beginning to freak her out.

Avery realized that Hazel was absentminded, she sighed and tapped Hazel on her shoulders, this made Hazel wake up out of her reverie.

"Are you okay??" Avery asked Hazel.

Hazel nodded her head, and Avery continued talking, Hazel saw that her mouth was moving but there was no sound emanating from it.

"Did you get it??" Avery said

Hazel had a confused expression on her face, Avery saw the look on her face and was perplexed, "Did she listen to my message?" Avery pondered. She knew that something was not right but she couldn't place her finger on anything.

Avery placed her hand on Hazel's shoulders and said

"If anything is going on at all, you can always talk to me"

"Have you discovered your wolf yet??" Hazel asked Avery. At first, Avery was shocked at the question that Hazel asked because it was way out of the line but she nodded her head regardless.

"What rank?" Hazel asked further

"Beta" Avery replied.

"That's cool," Hazel said

She noticed that Avery's countenance was bright, she was happy for her friend no doubt, although their circumstances surrounding them were different.

Hers was a loveless marriage without any hope of revival while Avery's mother abandoned her at birth, Hazel asked Avery if she ever knew the reason.

*******************************

She remembered the reply Avery had given her

"Don't know, don't care" Avery replied

Hazel stared at her wide-eyed, Avery saw the look in Hazel's eyes and chuckled.

"What's with the look?" Avery asked

"You got to be kidding me, Don't you care about your mother's whereabouts?? For all we know, she could be an Alpha wolf which could be an elevation to your status"

*******************************

Hazel sighed as she recalled that very day.

"What's bothering you??" Avery asked

Hazel took a deep breath and said

"The truth is that I....."

The door opened before she could utter a word and the both of them were shocked at the presence of the one who had opened the door.
