ALEXA'S POV.

"I'm sorry, sir, I can't do this. You are old enough to be my father; you cannot want me to sleep with you.

"Then kiss your job goodbye.

I fell on my knees. My world was coming to an end. I cannot lose my job at this stage. I have a sick mother to cater to, but I definitely cannot sleep with my boss just to keep my job.

"Sir, please, my mother would die if I lost my job. I need to buy her drugs regularly, and if I lose my job, there is no other way I can get money to do that.

Mr Matthew moved towards me, and he stroked my hair with his right arm. He gave me a faint smile, and he smiled in such a way that only one part of his cheek was lifted.

"You are a very pretty girl, Alexa. Allow me to take good care of you; you won't have to work anymore; all you have to do is be my girlfriend, and I will give you the world. I cannot get over your hourglass figure and your firm breasts; I cannot get my eyes off you.

"You are married with three kids that are older than me, sir. Please do not do this.

Mr. Matthew got exasperated at this point; he hated the fact that I didn't agree with all of his advances, and he slammed his hand on the table.

"Get out of my office now!!

"Please, sir, do not throw me out.

"I will call security on you if you do not leave this minute.

"How about my salary, sir? It's the end of the month; at least you can pay me that since I worked for it.

"I am not paying you a dime; get out!!

My heart was broken; I could not believe I was going to start job hunting again. My heart was heavy because I was supposed to deposit at the hospital that evening for my mother's treatment. She was diagnosed with stage four leukemia, and ever since my dad died, I have been the only one taking care of her.

I was walking along the street, hopeless. My phone was ringing nonstop. It was a call from the nurses, and I ignored it because I didn't have any excuse to tell them. The payment for my mother's chemotherapy has been due for two weeks, and I have been coming up with different excuses just so I could pay up when my salary comes, but now I was fired without any pay.

I was in a stage of despondency and quagmire. I was disgruntled because there was no one to run to. I was walking on the street when I saw a sign outside a bar.

"Free drinks for the ladies tonight.

I didn't know I had walked for that long, and when I came to this realization, my feet started to hurt. This was the perfect opportunity for me to relax my legs. I was so tired, and I needed a drink. I walked into the bar, and the place was calm. There weren't a lot of people there, so I dropped my stuff off with the security guy and proceeded. To go sit at the bar.

"Hello, welcome. What would you like to drink?

"I saw the sign outside that says free drinks for ladies.

"Yes, a gentleman paid for most of the drinks and instructed us to give them out to the ladies tonight.

"Great!! Can I have tequila shots, please?

"Sure!!

My order came in shortly, and I started gulping the shots of tequila. I was vibing to the music that was playing. I was pressed at this point because of the alcohol in my system so I went to the restroom and by the time I came back, I saw someone in my seat.

"Excuse me, that is my seat.

"But I didn't see anyone here when I walked in, and there is no name on the seat.

"It is either you are blind or you are a lunatic, because how can you not see my bag beside the seat?

"Your bag? That thing was yours? It looked too cheap, so I didn't think it would belong to a lady like you; I thought it belonged to one of those homeless people, and maybe it somehow found its way here.

"You have such a loud mouth for someone whose nose is like that of Shrek.

"Auch!!

"Yeah, right. You better get up and get out before I call security on you.

"And tell them what?

"You are harassing me.

"My name is Lex Lutherford; what is yours?

I couldn't get my eyes off Lex, and for a few seconds, I was lusty. He was the cutest man I have ever seen in San Francisco, and even though he acted like a bitch, his smile was melting my heart.

"I can understand if you choose not to tell me yours; I mean, I acted like a bitch so it is expected.

"Alexa, my name is Alexa.

"Great! You can have your seat.

Lex stood up from my seat and sat on the seat close to me. I know I said he looked like Shrek, but that was a lie. I said that to spite him. He was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen and for a few minutes, I was lost in his eyes.

"Do you come here often? Because I don't think I have ever seen you here.

" No, I don't go to bars and lounges; this is my first time there.

" Wow! So you are the decent kind; why are you here today? What changed?

"I lost my job; my boss fired me.

"I'm sorry about that.

There was an awkward moment of silence between us. Lex was sipping his whisky while I watched; he looked so wealthy, from his wristwatch to his Tom Ford custom-made shoe.

"What if I give you a better job?

"What? Are you going to do that? That would be so great. What kind of job is that?

"Marry me; be my wife.

"What?

ALEXIA'S POV.

I stared at Lex blankly. I felt a cold sensation down my spine. I struggled to make sense of what I had just heard. I fixed my gaze on him to see if he would laugh and tell me that he was just joking, but the more I looked at him, the more serious he became. I tried to speak, but I was stuttering, and I struggled to complete a sentence.

"Your wife?

"Yes, it doesn't have to be anything serious; I just want you to act as my wife, and we will sign a contract for five years, and after that, I will give you $50 million.

My heart skipped a beat. Even if I had to work for my entire life, I wouldn't be able to make much money. With that amount, I wouldn't have to worry about my mother's treatment anymore. The offer was too good to be true. I wasn't thinking about the consequences or the flip side of this deal; all I wanted to do was say yes and accept the deal.

"Yes!! I will do it.

"Perfect!!! I like women who make smart choices in life.

Lex brought out the contract papers from his briefcase and handed them over to me with a pen. I was so shocked; I didn't expect it to be that soon.

"You walk around with that paper?

"I had it all figured out; I was the man who paid for all the drinks and requested the bar give it out to the ladies. I was going to make this offer to any lady that sits close to me tonight, and here we are.

"Why are you doing this, if I may ask?

"You don't get to ask me questions; you can go through the contract after you sign.

Without thinking twice, I put my signature on the contract. The biggest mistake I made was signing the contract without reading the clauses. I was too desperate, and all I wanted was money for my mother's treatment. After I put my signature on the paper, Lex brought out a diamond ring from his pocket, and when he opened it, my jaw dropped. It was a one-double-halo micropave diamond engagement ring valued at $100,000.

I wept as he put it gently on my finger. I have never worn anything that expensive. Was the universe pranking me? Or was I hallucinating? Or maybe God was just trying to compensate me for losing my job.

"This is so beautiful!! I love it.

"What is your dress size?

"I am a size 10.

"My shopper will collect all the designer clothes and bags you need; you need an upgrade; you are now the wife of Lex Lutherford. Are you ready to ride with me?

"Sure.

I tried to reach out for my bag, but Lex told me not to take it. I only took out my valuables that were in the bag and my box that I left with the security. I was tipsy, and before I left the bar, I took the last shot of tequila. I got outside and saw Lex's car; it was a Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet. The interior was to die for.

We got into the car and he drove off to his mansion. The mansion was so big that it took us over ten minutes to get to the main entrance from the gate. I was in awe of the edifice standing in front of me.

"Welcome home, Alexa.

Lex held my hand and took me into the main mansion. As soon as we got in, I saw seven maids lined up to welcome me.

"Welcome home My lady, I am your maid. My name is Lola.

Lola led the way and I followed. She took me to Lex's room and gave me a hot bath. I was soaked in goat milk and by the time I came out, my skin was like a newborn. Lola moisturized my skin with a lavender body lotion and for a few seconds, I forgot my reality, which was nothing but a broke girl who couldn't afford her mother's medications. Has that changed?

"You are now ready to consummate your marriage.

Lola left the room, and by the time I came out of the bathroom, Lex was already lying down naked on the bed waiting for me.

"You look beautiful.

I was blushing. He came closer to me and kissed me softly on my neck. I was melting into outer space, and when he kissed me on my lips, I could taste his strawberry lip balm. Lex's touches were so soft; he was the true definition of a perfect gentleman. He was touching every sensitive part of my body, and he finally picked me up and placed me on the bed. When the mood was right, he started thrusting slowly, and I clung on tightly to the bedsheet as I moaned his name silently. I was trying to contain myself because the sex was so good; it was the most pleasurable moment of my life. He was kissing and caressing my body, and when we finally reached the climax, he collapsed on the bed, and we slept off. He cuddled me, and I felt warm. I still couldn't believe everything was real; it felt like I was going to wake up from the dream.

I slept off in his arms, smiling like I had just won the lottery. I tried to have a good and peaceful night's rest, but my phone kept buzzing nonstop, and I couldn't ignore it anymore, so I stopped and went to the table where I kept my phone and saw that it was the nurse calling. I had no fear of taking the call this time because I was a Billionaire's wife and I could handle the bills now.

"Hello?

"Alexa!! Where have you been? We have been calling you since noon.

"Nurse, if it is about the bill, I will transfer it to the hospital's account first thing tomorrow morning. I will even pay in advance for her two months of chemotherapy.

"That is not why we are calling you, Andrea. Your mother, we lost her this afternoon.

I froze in shock, and my phone fell off my hand and scattered on the floor. My mom was gone!!

ALEXA'S POV.

four years later.

It felt like the room was compressing me. I stood still in the toilet, and I froze in time as I saw the result in my hand: I was pregnant, and all I could do was allow tears to roll do9 okwn my face. I cannot believe I goto pregnant with a monster. I should have known there was more to Lex when he made me sign the contract without reading it.

Lex is a devil in human form; he only got married to me so he could access his inheritance. His mother hated me and treated me like trash because I was a nobody; she was involved in Lex's plan all along and I was just a pawn in their game.

I couldn't control the tears that flowed from my eyes. Lex always warned me to take contraceptives after we'd had sex; he hated to use protection, but I couldn't continue taking contraceptives every day. The doctor said it was dangerous to my health but Lex was less concerned. He never wanted me to get pregnant and have his child; he didn't want to have kids with me because our marriage was purely transactional.

"I am dead; Lex is going to kill me.

I rested my head on the toilet wall, and tears rolled down my face freely. I quivered with fear at the mention of Lex's name because he became abusive the night after we got married. He didn't even allow me to see my mother's body; they buried her without my permission. I didn't even have the strength to cry anymore because my body was sore. Lex beat me up last night because I refused to arrange the room for the arrival of his girlfriend, Tina. Tina was a model and Lex's girlfriend. He was supposed to get married to her so he could access his inheritance, but she wasn't ready because of her career, so they agreed to pay someone to do it.

Four years of marriage with Lex felt like an eternity because I was in hell. The five years felt like forever. I wanted to run away, but there was no place for me to go. Lex was monitoring my accounts, and my phone was wired. He assigned three guards from Russia to go everywhere with me, and my freedom was seized.

I was lost in my thoughts, thinking of ways to hide my pregnancy from Lex because he would skin me alive if he found out that I was pregnant.

"Alexa!! Do you want to spend the whole day there? Come out before I drag you out by your hair.

I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard Lex's voice. I quickly flushed the test strip I was holding before he saw it. I cleaned my eyes and washed my face, and before he could say another word, I was out of the bathroom. I tried to move past him, but he pulled me back and held me by the neck. I was shaking with fear. I didn't know what my offense was this time, but then again, Lex could beat me for no reason, and I hoped he wasn't going to do that now because I was carrying his child.

"I thought I asked you to pack your things out of this room. Tina is around, and I do not want her to see your things in my room. You know how hot-tempered she can be.

"I'm sorry; I will move them now.

"You better hurry, for your safety.

Lex's grip on my neck was becoming strong; I was almost out of breath, and I thought I was going to pass out.

"Please let me go; I can't breathe.

"I own you!! I am your god! I will kill you in an instant if I suspect that you are trying to run away from me. Is that clear?

I was mute because I couldn't breathe; I was out of air.

"Answer me!!!

"Yes sir.

I muttered with my last strength; my voice was barely above a whisper.

"Good girl.

Lex left me, not minding if I fell to the ground or not. I stood up and went to pack my things into the guest room, and before Lex came out, I was done. Staying in the guest room was a good idea for me; at least I do not get to see Lex's face often. I lay on the bed when I noticed a sharp pain in my lower abdomen. It was so severe that I couldn't ignore it anymore. I don't even know how far I have gone with the pregnancy; I needed to see the doctor immediately.

I changed into a dress and picked up my bag. I needed to look sick so Lex wouldn't stop me from going to see the doctor. I came out of the room and saw that he was having breakfast with his mom and Tina. Even though my mother-in-law hated me with passion, I still had to greet her.

"Good morning, ma.

She ignored me and the next voice I heard was that of Lex.

"And where do you think you are going?

"I need to see the doctor; I am sick.

"The doctor will come to the house to check on you; there is no need to go out.

"I need to do a scan so I need to be at the hospital.

"You better not exceed an hour.

I left the house wearing a dark shade because of the dark circles on my eyes. I was accompanied by the guards assigned to monitor my movement. I got to the hospital and the doctor was so sad to see how I was looking.

"I am pregnant, doctor. but I don't know how far I have gone.

"It's a good thing you stopped taking those pills; does he know about it?

"I would be dead if he did.

We headed to the scan room. I was four months pregnant, and I didn't even notice. I was curious to know the gender of my child. The sonographer gave me a warm smile as she checked.

"Congratulations! You are expecting a set of triplets!!
