Chapter 1 One

ISABELLA'S POV......

"I, Alpha Nathan Grayson of the blood moon pack, reject you, Isabella Walter, as my mate"

Tears stained my face as I watched my mate make that heartbreaking declaration. Alpha Nathan was rejecting me as his mate. For a moment I had thought that my life was about to take a new, better turn. I had thanked the moon goddess for making me the Alpha's mate.

I didn't realize I was crying until I tasted my own tears. My head was spinning the same as my world. Who was I kidding to think that a man as mighty as Alpha Nathan will accept me as his mate. He had hated me, the lowly omega, who is nothing less than a slave. An Omega for Alpha, Ha!

WE CAN NEVER BE MATE!

That was his exact word when I called him mate. My heart pubmed against my chest as I remembered the disgusting look he had on his face when he realized we were mated together and right there he had rejected me without thinking.

He was saying something but I couldn't understand what he was saying because of the spinning going round in my head. I watched him move close with a scowl on his face and before I could realize it, he was gripping my throat so hard that I found it hard to breathe. That was the second time he was gripping my throat in a few minutes.

Did he want to end me now that he had rejected me?

"Take your lowly self and get out of my room, I don't want to ever set my eyes on you!" He said all that through gritted teeth. He wasn't just disgusted by my presence, there was something else, Hatred. And it broke my heart into pieces that he hated me for no reason. It wasn't my fault that I was mated to him neither was it my own making that I was born this way, an Omega.

I staggered backward as he let his grip on my neck go.

With my tears streaming-face and my head bowing, afraid of seeing the hate in his face, I turned back and ran out of his room amidst heavy sobs.

It was in the middle of night with every living wolf except me and the Alpha who just rejected me, awake and probably another person, who knows.

The night breeze glazed through my skin and I smiled in my tears.

Few minutes ago, I was serving my punishment out here in the cold. It was the most liberal punishment I've received in a while, and I was delighted that it was merely to sleep outside. Inasmuch as the night was cold and eerie, it was much better than getting my skin battered from the countless number of whips.

I had laid down on the hard ground, trying so hard to figure out the best position to get balance. My back aches just as I struggled to get comfortable.

Just then, I had felt a sudden wave of excitement and unknowingly, a small smile curved on my lips. My head swirled slightly, and my heart thumped out of my chest.

Staying in the pack as an Omega exposed me to a series of gossip pertaining to finding a mate and how the process is in most cases. Most of them said it includes sudden excitement, goosebumps and sudden peace.

All of these were what I felt at that moment. I had placed my hands on my chest, watching how it thumped heavily and how my palms were becoming sweaty.

Suddenly, the cold night felt warm, and I cared less about anything that might have happened to me ever since I lived in the pack. I was engulfed with the need to meet the source of the sudden joy I felt in my heart.

And then, the scent came...something strong and unable to be ignored. My mate was close, and I could feel it deep inside my soul.

As though I were under a spell, I started walking back into the pack house. Nothing else mattered at this point, and I would rather not remember that I was given a punishment to spend the night outside.

I wanted to trace the root of this scent... I wanted to find my mate! I wanted to get saved by him and leave this pack that tormented me all my life.

My breath was almost becoming unsteady just as I quickened my pace, running slightly and searching around the house.

I was so carried away that I had no idea where my legs were heading. Not only that, but I knew my wolf was helping out to lead me to my mate, and I made no effort to stop her.

And almost immediately, I stopped walking and turned to face the door. A feeling of nostalgia enveloped me just as my heart beat lessened. I knew that room and it was this room that was the reason I was asked to spend the night outside.

My body quivered at that thought just as I stretched out my hands towards the door knob.

"Mate!" My wolf whispered in excitement, swirling and my head in elation.

I took in quick breaths as I pushed the door open. It was against the rule to barge into the alpha's room, but the excitement that came with finding my mate got the better part of me.

The alpha was my mate, and that sounded like a dream come true. No one in the pack could contend against the alpha, and that simply meant that my life would take a great turn...a very great one.

He was on his bed, sleeping peacefully with a small frown on his face. His face looked troubled, and I couldn't help but think of the weight and burden of the pack he carried on his shoulders. It must be a lot for him to wear an unsettled gaze even in his sleep.

For what seemed like ages, I stood still, gazing at the Alpha who was my mate.

I had thought of what to do, but nothing seemed to come to mind. I was lost in the moment as he stood as the one who my heart already considered to be a treasure.

"Mate," I whispered under my breath as tears welled up in my eyes.

He groaned slightly at that point and this made me shiver slightly.

I made to touch him, but I quickly withheld myself, waiting for him to get up in his accord.

Finally, he jolted out of his sleep, sniffing hard and looking around as though he were almost losing his mind.

"Mate!" He blurted out as he looked at me, with shock and confusion written all over his face.

He stood to his feet immediately, staring at me as though he had just seen a ghost. A small smile spread across my lips, but it got stuck when I saw the look he had on his face. His excitement lasted for only a second because the moment he realized that I was the one, his heart dropped.

"We are mates...," I stuttered, breathing heavily and trying so hard to conceal the excitement that burned within my soul.

I will be Luna soon. That was the one dream I had in my life.

"No...we are not mates," he had dropped and for that moment, I thought that I had only heard wrongly.

But then, it was the reality. He had glared at me furiously, his eyes cold without a single iota of emotions and his breaths uneven and filled with rage. His fists were clenched in fury and immediately, my excitement was replaced with fear.

"We can never be mates!" He declared and grabbed me on my throat, pressing firmly on it as though he were at the verge of strangling me.

"What makes you think that you would be my mate? And how dare you come into my room at this time of the night?" He asked angrily while I choked and tried to release his grip on my neck.

All this looked like a dream, but the more I watched it happen, it dawned on me that my mate didn't want me.

"I'm sorry... I was just...", I was still saying when he added more intensity to his grip on my neck.

"I, Alpha Nathan Grayson of the blood moon pack, reject you, Isabella Walter, as my mate", he had declared.

My head swirled around at that point just as I tried to remain steady on the ground. I staggered slightly, ignoring the hot wave of tears that formed in my eyes already.

I chuckled in tears as all that happened in the last few minutes swept through my mind. I was in so much pain, so was my wolf. In fact, she was whimpering.

I had one thing in mind and that was to run far away from this place. Without thinking much of it, I started running through the woods with one place in mind, the cliff. At that moment, I was irrational with my thinking. The only thought in my mind was to jump. I had no one to live for.

As I neared the cliff, my heart throbbed so hard that I thought it was going to burst yet my resolve of jumping the cliff was unshaken.

Standing before the cliff, I took a deep breath and dived and that was it for me.

Chapter 2 Two

NATHAN'S POV.....

"Alpha, I can't find her," My Beta said and I spun around to face him with an unreadable expression on my face. I clutched the wine glass I had in my hand tightly, trying to suppress the anger that was quickly surging through me. That's not what I had expected to hear.

When I rejected the low life mate of mine last night, I had thought it's better to send her away before the pack would get to hear she was my mate. I never want that to happen because if I don't accept her, my people will think I am weak and I am sure rumors will start spreading. The neighboring packs might hear of it and launch an attack.

Those sick and pathetic fools don't waste time in trying to bring me down.

I took a handful of breaths and gulped the remaining content inside the glass and set it on the table.

"What do you mean you can't find her? Did she develop wings and flew away?" I asked, moving closer to him. I was not in to entertain jokes right now. Jones always makes jokes out of everything and from the expression I was seeing on his face, I was sure he was kidding but then his heartbeat said otherwise.

"I searched everywhere for her last night yet she was nowhere. I even asked the head servant this morning, she stated that the last time she saw Bella was when she pushed her out to spend the night outside."

I didn't know what to think but if there was something I was in need right now, it was to make sure that she stays far away from my pack. I can't allow her to ruin my reputation and make me look like a weak Alpha.

"Okay. Keep searching for her and the moment you see her, make sure you throw her out. I don't want to ever set my eyes on her again."

Jones bowed and left the room.

The moment the door closed, I sighed and what happened last night came flooding through my mind.

I had a busy day yesterday attending to everything partaking in the pack's economy.

I was so exhausted and I was longing to sleep. I had barely slept for a long time when I felt a sudden presence around my room. Inasmuch as I was deeply asleep, I was aware of my surroundings and I could feel another person in the room. However, I shoved the thoughts aside when I recalled that I was alpha and no one had the right to enter my room.

And then, a scent flew past my nostrils, causing me to jerk up immediately. I had never felt something like that all my life, but I could tell that this was the one moment I've been waiting for my whole life...my mate.

A figure stood before me, and I needed no one to tell me that she was the one.

"Mate!" I blurted out as I jumped out of the bed and stood before her, with my heart beating in excitement.

My excitement dried up immediately as I took a careful look at the lady who stood before me. Not only did I recognize her as the clumsy lady who spilled tea in my room yesterday, she was an omega!

"What the hell!" I muttered under my breath as fury replaced my previous excitement. There was no way I would be accepting a mere Omega to be my mate. This looked more like a ridicule, and I couldn't help but wonder if the moon goddess was only trying to make me an object of mockery in the eyes of everyone in the pack.

"How dare you come into this room?" I growled angrily as I grabbed her neck and held her firmly.

She winced in pain, but I wasn't concerned about that. She had no right to come into my room, and I wasn't going to let this slide.

"We are mates...", she said in a voice that sounded like a whisper. That only infuriated me more, and I tightened my grip on her.

"We are not mates!" I declared, peering into my eyes and watching how she shuddered in fear.

"I, Alpha Nathan Grayson of the blood moon pack, reject you, Isabella Walter, as my mate!" I said sharply, after which I pushed her away from me.

She looked at me with an unbelievable gaze, after which she staggered backwards, with tears dropping out of her eyes.

My wolf recoiled back in rage, but I cared less about that. There was no way an Omega in the pack would be my mate.

"Get out!" I yelled out of my lungs while she ran off, not taking another minute to glance at me.

My heart ached slightly as I clutched tightly to it and fell to the bed, breathing heavily and trying to catch my breath. It felt as though a part of my heart was torn away and it hurt terribly.

Different thoughts enveloped my heart just as I felt the cold wind coming into my room from my window. It felt strange to see how much I waited for a mate all my life and how she turned out to be someone who I would never want to be with.

Was the moon goddess always this cruel?

A knock interrupted my thoughts and I smiled strangely. Funny enough, all that I felt last night was no longer there. She didn't matter anymore.

"You can choose to stay outside or come in," I growled and waited.

The door cranked open and Jones stepped in with a little smile on his face. I narrowed my eyes at him for a little while before shifting my gazes behind him.

"You found her already?" I questioned briefly and the smile on his face dropped.

"No." His response was short which infuriated me. I glared at him, "then why are you here?"

"Someone is here to see you."

I waited for him to say who but it looked like he was finding it difficult to say the name.

"If not that I consider you to be a brother, Jones, one day I will deal with you."

"I am sorry but the person visiting is not a friend." He whispered and that moment I felt like strangling him.

"Shut up, Jones and tell me who!" I yelled and he flinched.

"Okay! Okay!! You don't have to shout. It's Damien Wyatt."

As soon as the name slipped off his lips, my face clouded and I stamped out of the room in fury.

Chapter 3 Three

ISABELLA'S POV.....

I slowly opened my eyes, not forgetting to groan in the process. My head was pounding and I couldn't seem to understand why. My vision was blurry so I waited a little while before I could make out my surroundings.

The first thing I saw were all these strange symbols on a weirdly colored ceiling and I quickly closed my eyes again. I didn't know what they were but I'd definitely rather look at anywhere than them. It was too bright anyway.

The second thing that caught my attention was a steady beeping sound coming from somewhere. I took a quick scan of my body and realized I wasn't wearing any clothes and I had no idea where I even was or what was going on. I closed my eyes again and I opened it when I realized how dried my throat was.

The room was completely white with no other furniture except the bed I was lying on. it has me thinking maybe I was in heaven. But come to think of it, from what I have heard, I wouldn't be thirsty if I was in heaven which means I was somewhere else. But where? From the scent around, I was nowhere near my pack.

I had jumped the cliff last night, so how come I was here and alive? I tried not to think much of it as the burning sensation in my belly grew.

I cursed under my breath, trying to sit up. I was so weak and thinking about not just how weak I was physically but my entire existence had me tearing up.

I don't deserve to live and whoever that has saved me, I am going to have a big issue with him first.

I had a clicking sound and the door sworn open. A lady in a maid uniform stood at the door with a tray in hand. She wasn't smiling nor was she frowning but if there was a look I could detest disgust.

"I was asked to give you food," she said immediately as she walked into the room.

I had wanted to say thank you but the steady beep came again. I tried finding the source of the sound and before I could pinpoint the exact location of the sound, she beat me to it. She was dangling the alarm clock in my face.

"It's just an alarm. Eat up and I will be back to escort you to the bathroom." I nodded and asked," where am I?"

She regarded me for a while before looking away," It's not in my place to say. When you meet with the Alpha, he can tell you." There was hostility in her voice and I swore I could feel anger rising within me.

I said nothing and she left.

Within a short while I was done with the food. You can't blame me for eating so quickly. I was hungry and if I actually need to attempt suicide again, I will need my strength.

By now, I was wrapping the bedspread around me as I stumbled to the door. I turned the knob and realized it was locked. I guess I was distracted to realize she had locked the door while leaving. An unknown fear swept through me.

I had tried escaping my miserable life and landed myself into a bigger misery. The clicking sound coming from the door didn't allow me to dwell much on the thought.

"Follow me," she said and I stepped out of the room. She was walking really fast and catching up with her was difficult because of the sheet around me. I almost tripped at some point.

"Weak omega," She suddenly said and I halted on my tracks but on second thought I continued following her.

She came to halt in front of a door I presumed to be the bathroom.

Before I could realize what was happening, she grabbed my hand, opened and pushed me into the room, locking me inside.

"Wash up, I don't have all the time in the world. " She yelled and heard her walking away.

I wasn't sure of what to think of my current situation. I was treated no less like this at my pack. But then it doesn't mean I should get use to people treating me like a trash. After all, I didn't ask anyone to save me.

She was just a servant yet she feels she is above me.

"Come on, Bella, don't think too much about it. Wash up and see what your life becomes after now." I said to myself as I stepped into the bathtub filled with water.

I sighed with relief the moment the warm water touched my skin. It was peaceful and I told myself I was going to enjoy the little peace I had at the moment. Until I know what my fate is, I will not think too much.

****

My palm was sweating as I sat on one of the chairs inside this long hall waiting to see the man who had saved me. He was taking time to arrive and every passing second my anxiety grew. I had a lot of questions running through my mind. Why did he save me and what's his purpose of bringing me to his pack? From what I have seen so far, he seemed like someone who is feared.

I would have loved to know something about him even if it's a tiny detail about him but nobody here seemed to talk about him. Every servant I met didn't even want to talk to me. They avoided me like a plague.

I took a deep breath and the moment I bent to strengthen the strip on the gown I was wearing, I felt a light oar on my back and I jacked up immediately, coming face to face to the most handsome face I have ever seen.. Too bad he wasn't smiling.

His brown eyes pierced through mine with a deadly look I could only describe as intense. His hair, however, gave him an otherworldly appearance. He had black curls that fell just below his shoulders and I wondered if it had a meaning. He wore leather pants with boots and he looked more like a warrior than the leader of a bunch of wolves.

He cleared his throat and said," Hello. " He was very formal and cold. My heart started racing as I heard his words.

"You look better than yesterday when I saved you from that cliff." There was something in his face and I could recognize it, proud. He sounded like a proud peacock.

Regardless of the cold aura he was giving out, I was grateful that he saved me somehow. Maybe, it's not bad to be alive after all. Since my mate doesn't want me, no one will bother about me missing.

"Do you have nothing to say at all?"

I looked up to realize he was behind me. Though my back was on him, I could feel his stares on me. I bet he was scrutinizing me.

"Thank you, Sir, for saving me." I mumbled, fumbling with my fingers.

"My name is Alpha Damien, use it next time. Sit!"

I quickly sat under his intense gaze.

"I like you and that's why I saved you." I nodded as I waited to hear what he said next. Silence engulfed us that the only sound in the room was my beating heart. I was feeling nervous because I knew somewhere at the back of my mind he didn't just save me. He wants me and from the way his eyes have been lusting after me since he entered the hall, I feared he would be taking me in as his mistress or worse, his slave. What's the difference between the two words anyway?

"I want you to marry me."
