Kelsey's POV

The annoying buzzing sound aka my alarm wake me up,I stood up with a wide smile on my face, it's my eighteenth birthday. I'm really psyched about it,I ran straight to the bathroom and took a quick shower,I dressed up in my usuals:a pink hoodie and a baggy jean,hey don't blame me, I'm not a fan of dresses. And besides,my dressing doesn't matter, I'm basically invisible at school. I packed my hair up in a pony tail.

It was normal for wolves to to have their first shift and get their wolf on their sixteenth birthday but I didn't. I'm half wolf so there's a chance that I *might* get my wolf today:my eighteenth birthday. Emphasis on the might.

I stared at myself at the mirror,my blue eyes staring right back at me,I look exactly like my mom except for the blue eyes that I inherited from God knows where. No one from my family had this shade of blue eyes,mom had green eyes and dad had hazel eyes.

A blue box caught my eyes through the mirror,I turned around and saw it sitting there right beside my bed stand. How could I have not notice this when I woke up, "from your one and only" was written on it,I smiled. This has Taylor written all over it, Taylor is the beta's daughter and my best friend since diapers, she's like a sister that I never had *funny because I do have a sister* but that's story for later. I opened the box and a beautiful blue material caught my eye. I brought it out and to my surprise it was a beautiful floor length gown. I brought it to my chest and it was really beautiful,it had an opening at the back and it was sparkly. It was just perfect. I placed it back on my bed,picked up my bag and ran downstairs. I had to revise for my examination,call me nerd but i really don't mind,I wouldn't let my birthday let me fail my exams.

Everyone was busy with one thing or the other,I tried looking around for my dad but he was no where to be found. I went straight to the kitchen, I felt a warm embrace "happy birthday my little angel" a familiar voice said to me making me smile, i turned saying"thanks dad". "I can't believe my baby is officially an adult" he said faking a tear earning a snort from Alexandra making me laugh. "She's not your little angel anymore Drew" she said before pulling me into a hug "Happy birthday sweetie". Alexandra is my step mom and dad's second chance mate. My dad found my mom years ago,they loved each other and lived happily, but that changed when she died while giving birth to me. My mom was human so her body couldn't bear giving birth to me.

He almost lost his mind but he was blessed by the moon goddess,he got a second chance mate: Alexandra. She had twins: Chris and Stephanie. There's a year gap between the twins and I. Alexandra is a sweet mother,she treated me like her very own.

Alexandra led me to the dining where Chris is seated and thankfully Stephanie was not present. Stephanie kinda *hates* me,funny right. Because her twin brother Chris is my second favorite person in the world, he's like my twin,we did everything together along with Taylor, we were three peas in a pod.

"Happy birthday loser" Chris said giving me a naughty look, Alexandra hit his head making me giggle, "thanks dog breath" I replied sticking out my tongue to him. "it's her birthday,my baby needs to me treated like a queen" my dad said placing a cake on my table. "awww thanks dad" I said blowing the candles.

"You're welcome sweetie, but do you really have to go to school today." He said making Alexandra roll her eyes. "you asked her this yesterday and she's still gonna give you the same answer and that is -" "no dad I have my final paper today" Alexandra and I said at the same time making Chris chuckle. Mouthing "nerd",I flipped him off, digging into my cake,my favorite; chocolate.

"Hey wanna go swimming later after school" Chris said. "no,you must report back here immediately after your exams" my dad said making Chris pout.

Chris loved swimming but my dad always counted as a waste of time since Chris had alpha training and he shouldn't waste his time having useless hobbies, his words not mine. But Chris always finds a way to swim behind his back.

I'm really excited he didn't force me to do anything that I wasn't interested in,he has always supported my dreams. I want to be a doctor just like my mom was.

My phone buzzed and a message from Taylor was on the screen:

"Hope you got the gift?"- Tay at 7:20

Yeah,I did. Thanks babe- me at 7:21

You're welcome sweetie- Tay at 7:25

Are you ready?- me at 7:28

Yep- Tay at 7:30

I said my goodbyes and took off to Tay's house which is a 5 minute drive from my house. Taylor was waiting outside,her beautiful blonde hair and gray eyes,she was so beautiful. She was my opposite,she was popular, sociable and really beautiful. She was dressed in a pink crop top and a flair skirt landing on her mid thigh.

She noticed my car and she hopped in, "hey, birthday girl" she said with her beautiful smile,her mate would be so lucky to have her unlike me who still hasn't gotten her wolf yet. "hey Tay" I said driving off,we chatted for a while and sang to Adele: easy on me.

Taylor and I walked into the school, heads turned when we passed,the stares weren't for me,they were for Taylor. She completely ignored it while I kept wishing the stares could stop,I was feeling self conscious. We went straight to my locker,I picked up a few books to revise before the exams. I felt nervous all of a sudden, like something was about to happen.

I looked around for a while before going to my favorite place in the school:the library. Don't blame a girl for loving a little peace and quiet, people rarely go to library so it was mostly quiet and empty.

Hunter's POV

"Thanks Hunter"my little sister said as she stepped out of the car and walked straight into the school. I checked my watch,I had about 15 minutes left before the meeting. A vanilla scent wafted up my nostrils as I looked around the car trying to find the source. "mate, that's mate" my wolf said in my head,I ignored it but my wolf pushed me out of the car,I went straight into the school. My eyes fell on a petite perfect girl, she looked confused as she scanned the area. She looked passed me and continue searching her locker and she walked off. "follow mate" my wolf said again but I ignored him this time. It took all my strength not to go after her and claim her as mine. I went straight to the car, her image going through my head again. Her beautiful wavy brown hair,she seems perfect. I shook my head and went drove to the neighborhing pack house where my meeting was being held.

I had to have a meeting with the alpha of the silver lune pack *well against my will* my dad was best friends with the alpha and he ordered me to meet him and speak to him about the alliance between the two packs. "Good day alpha Dylan" I said and he rejected my hand shake but pulled me into a hug. "You have grown so well" he said with a cheeky grin, "how have you been?" He said and I replied"I've been well,how about you?" He smiled again saying"I've been doing just fine, just the same old age issues". I understood what he meant,he was the oldest alpha in the entire south America,he had an heir but according to him "I'll hand over the pack to him when the time is right" I nodded trying to end the discussion so I could finally leave.

"So I'm guessing your dad sent you here to discuss about the alliance, right?" He said and I nodded again. "Can we discuss about this later,my daughter is having her birthday today" I nodded understandingly, "I'm sorry that you had to go through the stress of coming out here,but wait...how about you attend the birthday party tonight and we'll discuss about this tomorrow" he suggested.

"Okay then alpha,see you tonight" I said bringing out my hand again for an handshake but he pulled me into a hug again,"why so formal boy?" he said laughing between words. "we're family" he said once he composed him. "Ooh and you can spend the night here at the pack house" he said and I nodded again not knowing exactly what to say to that,I wanted to reject but that'd be rude,right?

"Okay then, thanks alpha" I said and he led me out of the office and through the hallways, I've got to admit the pack house was beautifully decorated,he finally stopped in front of a brown wooded door,"here we are" he said opening the door, the room was beautiful,painted in white but had touches of brown. "I'll leave you to freshen up and I'll send someone to get you some new clothes" he said flashing me that cheeky grin again somehow making me feel like family. I walked around the room, it had a walk in closet and a bathroom right beside it. I stripped and filled the bath tub with warm water and got in. The warm bath being exactly what I needed to get that blue eyes out of my head.

Kelsey's POV

"Hey kels,how was the exam" Tay asked as soon as we stepped out of the class,the exam was really a piece of cake for me,I have studied a whole lot for this exam,I shrugged in response. "I forgot my bag,wait up for me" she said and ran straight back to class.

"Hey freak" a familiar voice said making every strand of hair on my next stand,I turned shakily. She stared at me with a familiar smirk on her face meaning she was about to pull something off,"Hey Taylor" I replied trying to run off but I was stopped by her minion like friends;Alecia and Evelyn. "tsk tsk tsk,where do you think you're going my dear sister,I have to deliver this birthday present" she said grabbing me with her claw pricking through my skin.

Stephanie has hated me from day one, it was really ironic how her twin brother Chris could love me but she despised me for really no reason. She bullied me right from childhood but she got worse when she got her wolf,she would attack me even in her wolf form.

"No worries about that,I need to get home now" I said through the pain hoping she would let me go but her grip became tighter,blood dripping on my clothes and the floor and even on hers but she didn't seem to mind. Everyone was staring at us and it really wasn't a new thing to me and even to them. I was always bullied in their presence and no one could complain because of course she was the alpha's daughter and she was the best female warrior. She made it clear that if she catches anyone being friends with me they would answer to her but that seems to exclude Taylor. "Steph, please it's my birthday. You can just spare me for today" I tried pleading but it all went went to deaf ears.

"Take your hands off her" Tay said with gritted teeth. Tay has been the only to challenge Stephanie, "or else what?" Stephanie said growling at Tay,her wolf evident.

The lobby was now filled with students trying to figure out what was going to happen and us being the centre of attention.

"Tay, please just" I started but was interrupted by an angry Taylor. "no kels you need to learn to stand up for yourself" she said and Stephanie snickered making Tay's eyes color change,her wolf was on the edge. I tried getting out of Stephanie's hold and to my surprise she let me go,my hands were throbbing in pain but I had to take care of Tay. I run up to her, holding her hand trying to calm her down then I heard someone clear their throat and that seems to calm Tay down. "What is going on here" Mr Charles said, standing in between the two girls growling at each other.

Kelsey's POV

"Nothing Mr Charles,just a little argument between Taylor and I about Kelsey's birthday present. Right Kelsey?" She asked with the fakest smile I've ever seen earning a growl from Taylor. Mr Charles seems like he doesn't believe a thing she said, "Is that true Kelsey?" He asked staring right at me. I nodded frantically with my fingers crossed. Taylor glared at me but I ignored her before draging her out of the hallway.

"Why did you lie?why didn't you just stand up for yourself in there" she said angrily,"Tay please I don't want to do this today. It's my birthday please let's just forget about it" I said hoping she would just drop the topic and hopefully she did. "I'm sorry,how about we just ditch school and head home" I said trying to lighten up and the mood, she smiled"I thought you would never ask"she said moving to my car and I drove off.

Hunter's POV

After the shower I dressed up and I decided to take a walk around the pack house. The pack house was huge but cannot be compared to my pack. But it was really beautiful and sophisticated,the architecture is really beautiful,I was too busy observing the building that I bumped into someone.

"Hey,can you not look where you are going" the voice shouted from the floor, the voice was annoyingly familiar. I looked down and saw a blonde haired girl,i offered her my hands but she hit it off and stood up on her own. She was muttering something trying to dust herself off, when she was done she looked up at me and her frown turn in to a smile. "Hey baby" she said. I took a good look at her,she had hazel hair with beautiful shaped face. I won't lie she was really beautiful, "I'm sorry for bumping into you" I said and was about to leave when she rubbed her hands on my chest.

"It's okay darling, it's really nice to see you again" she said with her hands on my chest.

"Again?" I said confusingly,

"Don't tell me you don't remember me?"she said with a shocked face"baby, it's me Stephanie. We met at the club last week and had a good time together" she said smiling like she just reminisced it all over in her head.

To be very honest I don't remember meeting her, I've been with countless women. "What are you doing here boo?" She said,I took a step back and answered"I'm here for the birthday party"I said. And suddenly her smile turned into a look of disgust,"so you're here for that creature's birthday party".

Creature? My wolf is now pacing in my head growling. **What's your problem?** I asked my wolf

**Nothing**he replied still pacing in my head

"You do know that's your alpha's daughter you're disrespecting" I said still shocked by her outburst. "Yeah I know because I'm also the alpha's daughter" she said with pride. "She's my step sister" she continued. That still doesn't give her the right to hate her that way. I continued staring at her expecting her to give me reason for her hatred and thankfully she did. "My dad mated with a human and had her,and her mom died in labour. And unfortunately for me she's my step sister" she said with so many hatred.

"Can you believe she's already eighteen and she haven't gotten her wolf yet" she continued ranting. That's strange, I've never heard of a wolf and a human having a child.

"Are you even listening to me?"" She snapped at me bringing me back into the conversation. "I'm sorry,I have to go now it's getting late" I lied earning a frown from her but it quickly disappeared as she said"I'll see you later at the party then" I nodded and she kissed my cheeks and walked away. I wiped off the saliva on my cheeks and went straight to my room.

Kelsey's POV

"Let's head upstairs and get prepared for the party" Taylor said dragging me along. "But we still had 4 hours left"I whined but she ignored me and pushed me into the shower to get prepared. After a short shower I wore my robe and went into my room only to find Chris standing there with a box wrapped in my favorite color.

"What's that?" I said and he just handed it over to me, "Happy birthday sis, I'm sorry I couldn't get a better gift but.....hey it's the thought that counts right?" I smiled and opened the box, a beautiful bracelet with purple sparkles. It was beautiful,"OMG thanks Chris" I said pulling him into a hug. "do you like it?" He asked hopefully, I shook my head and his face falls. "I love it" I said and his face lit up like a child on Christmas morning. "Phew,I was so nervous" he said making me laugh. "But seriously,I love it. Thanks Chris" he smiled saying"don't mention it". Taylor appeared from nowhere, "hey get out,we need to prepare for the party" she said dragging him out. She gave me a slice of cake and went in to shower.

After a few minutes she started styling my hair and applying makeup,it took longer than I expected. She pulled my hair so hard my scalp is throbbing.

I stared at my reflection and I've got to admit I looked beautiful. The makeup highlighted my face making blue eyes pop, "I know I know you don't have to thank me" Taylor said with a huge grin plastered on her face. "Thanks Tay"she waved me off and started her makeup, she didn't take too long with her makeup like she did with me and when I asked her she said something about 'caring for the birthday girl'.

I checked the time and we had 15 minutes left before the party, she wore her beautiful white gown which landed in her mid thigh, it was really beautiful. "Damn girl you look hot" I said and she blushed hard. "I hope you find your mate tonight" she fake gagged and said"well I hope not, I'm not ready to be tied down to a person yet. Maybe after a year or two" she said. I was really hoping to find my mate tonight and my biggest wish was that he was not from this pack.

I slipped into my dress slowly,I was scared of ripping it. It seems too perfect for me, it hugged me in all the right places. I felt like a queen,I smiled at my reflection. "Oh my goodness,you look so much like your mom" she said and immediately she clasped her hand over her mouth apologising"I'm so sorry for saying that,you look really beautiful" my eyes were filled with unshed tears but I pulled it back in. "it's okay Tay,thanks".

A knock on the door interrupted her, "come in" we both said at the same time making us both laugh. My dad came in with a huge smile and immediately he saw me the smile turned into a sad one. "excuse me" Tay said giving us both privacy. "My darling,you look so beautiful. Just like your mother" he says pulling me in for a hug. "it's just like looking into a mirror" he continued,his eyes glossy with tears but it disappeared instantly and was replaced with a smile.

Losing mom almost ruined him,he was named one of the strongest alpha for being sane after losing his mate. Wolves tend to lose their minds after the loss of their mate especially alpha's. He was lucky enough to find his second chance mate.

"I need to give you something. Your mother made me promise to give you this on your eighteenth birthday" he said handing an old brown box to me. I opened it,there was a beautiful necklace that was sculpted as a moon. It looked so familiar, there was also an old book. It looked like a journal. "that necklace was your mother's family heirloom,she made me promise to give it to you". Oooh now it clicked,it was the exact same necklace on my mother's neck in every picture of her that I've seen. "What's that book dad" I asked him referring to the old book.

."this was your mother's diary, I think it's time for you to know more about your mother and what power she possesses" he said mysteriously. "What do you mean by that?...mom was human, what powers do you mean?" I asked and he held my hands and was about to say something when a knock interrupted him. "Alpha, it's time" the voice said outside. That was my dad's beta Charles.

He cupped my cheeks and said"we'll take about this later dear. Let's go down to the party" he said. I put the necklace inside the box and placed the box inside my wardrobe and hooked my hands with my dad's and went downstairs to the party.
