I woke up in the body of a despised "wolfless Omega" in a vicious werewolf pack. Before I could even process my transmigration, I was tied to a rough wooden post, framed for poisoning the Alpha's brother. The crowd roared for me to burn. "Burn the witch! She tried to kill the Alpha's brother!" Alpha Donovan, my fated mate, looked at me with cold, merciless judgment, ready to execute me without a single question. When the terrified maid who framed me was brought forward, Donovan executed her on the spot for changing her story, instantly destroying my only lead. Chapter 1

Aurelia Cain POV:

I am a wolfless Omega, an outcast without a wolf form in a clan that worships beast blood.

In my past life, I was framed for poisoning the clan nobles. Betrayed by those I trusted, cast aside by my fated Alpha, I endured endless slander before being dragged to the pyre to burn alive.

A roar from a crowd reaches my ears, a cacophony of hateful shouts. "Burn the witch!" "Murderer!" "She tried to kill the Alpha's brother!"

Now I have woken again, reborn right at the moment my fated Alpha publicly rejects me, sealing my fate as a criminal before all the clan.

They weave lies to murder me and bury the truth of their crimes. But I am no longer the helpless girl from my last life.

They intend to kill me, yet this time, I hold the memories of the past, and I will not let them get their way.

The executioners stop at the pyre, looking towards the edge of the square. The crowd's roar subsides to a murmur. A hush falls. The air grows heavy, charged with an oppressive energy. It feels like the air before a lightning strike.

A path parts in the crowd, people scrambling back as if from a predator.

A towering figure emerges from the twilight, moving with a fluid grace that belies his immense size. Even from here, I can feel the raw power radiating from him. He's dressed in dark, severe clothing that accentuates his broad shoulders. His black hair is short, his features chiseled and merciless.

His eyes, the color of molten gold, find mine across the square. There's no pity in them. Only cold, hard judgment.

A pathetic, wounded whimper rises from deep within me. It is my own soul‑deep longing and terror for my fated Mate, Donovan; feelings that haunted me even in my past life's final moments. I ruthlessly force those vulnerable surges of feeling down. I cannot afford to repeat the fate I already died for.

He stops a dozen feet from the pyre, his presence alone a physical weight, silencing the last of the whispers.

One of the executioners bows his head low. "Alpha Donovan. We await your final command."

Alpha Donovan. The supreme leader of this territory, the judge, jury, and executioner. My Mate.

His golden eyes stay locked on me, searching, assessing. He's looking for guilt, for fear, for the cowering Omega he expects.

I refuse to give it to him. I lift my chin, meeting his gaze without flinching, my own eyes, which I now know are a startling violet, holding a challenge.

A flicker of something-surprise? annoyance?-crosses his impassive face. It's gone in an instant.

From where I stood, I could see his molten‑gold pupils contract slightly. There was no pure, uncomplicated hatred in his gaze. The fated‑mate bond he had publicly rejected thrummed beneath his resolve, warping his judgment in ways he clearly resented.

He doesn't speak. He just gives a slight, almost imperceptible nod to the executioners.

My heart plummets. That's it? No trial, no questions? Just a nod to kill the woman he's fated to?

But the executioners don't light the pyre. Instead, one of them says,"The Alpha has judged. She will remain here until dawn. Let her contemplate her sins before the Moon Goddess."

Donovan turns his back on me, a dismissal more profound than any curse, and melts back into the crowd, which parts for him like the sea.

The crowd disperses, leaving me alone in the chilling night, tied to a post, the unlit pyre a promise of my fate at sunrise.

I will uncover their deception, expose every liar, and seize the power they once stripped from me. They mean to end my life, yet this time, I will rewrite my fate and never let them get their way.

Chapter 2

Aurelia Cain POV:

The cold of the night seeps into my bones, a stark contrast to the phantom heat of the pyre. I'm alone with my thoughts and the rustling leaves.

I test the ropes again, methodically, searching for any give. There's none. My captors were thorough.

My mind isn't on escape, not yet. It's on him. Donovan. Why delay the execution? A cat playing with a mouse? Or something else?

A heavy footstep sounds behind me, breaking the silence. My entire body tenses, every nerve alight.

That oppressive, dominant aura washes over me again before I even see him. He's back.

Donovan steps out of the shadows, his golden eyes glowing. He circles me slowly, like a wolf inspecting its trapped prey.

He stops in front of me, his proximity suffocating. He's so close I can feel the heat radiating from his body, and I catch his scent-pine and winter frost, intoxicating and dangerous. The recognition of a Mate is a physical shock.

His gaze drops to the frantic pulse in my throat. A smirk, cold and cruel, touches his lips. "You're afraid." His voice is a low, gravelly rumble.

"I'm not afraid," I say, my own voice surprisingly steady. "I'm angry."

His eyes narrow. "Anger is an emotion for those with power, Omega. You have none."

Old instincts rise inside me‑‑habits forged from my past life, when I bowed and begged for mercy to no avail. I crush that weak, desperate urge down hard.

"Then I have nothing to lose," I counter, my gaze unflinching. "You're going to kill an innocent woman, Alpha. Does that make you feel powerful?"

The word "innocent" hangs in the air. He scoffs, but a flicker of doubt, minuscule and fleeting, crosses his face. My first hit.

He leans in closer, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper. "I know your kind. Scheming, ambitious. You orchestrated our 'fated' meeting. You tried to kill my brother to secure your position."

So that's the narrative. It's flimsy. A true conspiracy would have a better story. This gives me an opening.

"A terrible plan, then," I say calmly. "If I wanted to secure my position, killing the only person who could support my claim as your Luna would be idiotic. Unless the person who framed me is the one who's truly idiotic. Or they think you are."

His jaw clenches. The insult lands. He isn't used to being challenged, especially not by an Omega tied to a stake.

A wild, terrified howl rises in my chest‑‑the same primal fear I felt in my past‑life final hours. I force the panic back under control.

"You have a sharp tongue for a killer," he growls, the sound vibrating in his chest.

"I have a sharp mind," I correct him. "One that you are about to waste."

I see the conflict in him-the Alpha's certainty warring with the seed of logic I just planted.

"What do you want?" he finally asks, the first question that isn't an accusation.

"Three days." The demand is out of my mouth before I can second-guess it. "Give me three days to find the real culprit. To prove my innocence."

"And if you fail?" he challenges, his eyes glinting.

"If I fail," I say, my voice dropping but losing none of its intensity, "I will walk into that pyre myself. You won't even have to light it."

The sheer conviction in my voice startles him. I can see it. This is not the pleading, terrified Omega he expected.

He stares at me for a long, silent moment. I can almost hear the gears turning in his head, his wolf's instincts battling his cold logic. His gaze is intense, searching my face for any hint of deception. I give him none, only unwavering resolve.

He takes a step back, breaking the suffocating proximity. The air rushes back into my lungs.

"Your defiance is... unexpected," he says, the words clipped.

He doesn't say yes. He doesn't agree to my bargain.

Instead, he says, "You will be taken to the dungeons. It's colder than the pyre, but it will give you more time to think."

He turns and strides away without another word, leaving me with a new, chilling kind of hope.

Fragmented memories from my past‑life drift across my thoughts. The castle dungeons were supposed to be high‑security, yet corruption and back‑door favours had long seeped into its guard rotations. I knew from my previous death just how deadly that flaw could become.

Two guards appear from the shadows to cut my ropes, their touch rough. As they drag me away from the unlit pyre, I knew everything was unfolding exactly as I had planned.

Chapter 3

Aurelia Cain POV:

The guards drag me through cold stone corridors. The torchlight casts long, dancing shadows.

My mind is racing. The dungeon. It buys me time, but I'm trading a public execution for a private one. Assassins are quieter than a pyre.

We round a corner, and a commotion ahead stops us. A group of pack members are gathered, their voices raised.

In the center of the group, I see her. A young maidservant, her face streaked with tears. It's Tilly Shaw, the one whose testimony sealed my fate.

Tilly points a trembling finger at me as the guards shove me forward. "It's her! She's the one! I saw her put the Shadow-Bloom poison in Lord Raphael's wine!"

The crowd surges with renewed anger. My guards have to shove them back to keep them from getting to me.

I look at Tilly, truly look at her. Her eyes are wide with panic, not conviction. She's reciting a script, and she's terrified.

Before I can speak, that familiar, oppressive presence descends again. Donovan appears, his face a mask of thunder.

The crowd parts for him instantly. He ignores me, his molten-gold eyes fixed on the weeping maid.

"You saw her?" Donovan's voice is dangerously soft. "You are certain of what you saw?"

"Yes, Alpha! I swear it on the Moon Goddess!" Tilly cries, falling to her knees.

"She's lying," I say, my voice ringing out in the corridor. "Look at her. Someone is forcing her to say this."

Donovan's head snaps toward me, a silent warning in his eyes to be quiet. He turns back to Tilly. He crouches down, his large frame looming over the small maid. "Tell me again," he commands. "Everything you saw."

Tilly, emboldened by the Alpha's attention, repeats her story, adding more details-the way I supposedly smirked, the vial I hid in my sleeve. They are well-rehearsed lies. But to a grieving brother, they sound like the truth. I watch Donovan's face harden with every word she speaks. My sliver of hope is vanishing.

He stands up, his expression unreadable. "You have served your Alpha well by reporting this treason," he says to Tilly.

Tilly's face floods with relief. "Thank you, Alpha!"

"And the penalty for bearing false witness in my pack," Donovan continues, his voice turning to ice, "is death."

The corridor falls silent. Tilly's jaw drops. My own heart stops.

"What?" Tilly whispers, her face draining of all color. "But... I told the truth!"

"Your story has changed three times since this morning," Donovan states flatly. "Each version more elaborate than the last. You are a poor liar."

He turns to his guards, his voice cold and sharp. "Lock her in a separate holding cell. Post round‑the‑clock watch. No visitors of any kind. I will interrogate her myself later."

Tilly starts screaming as the guards seize her. "No! Alpha, please! They made me do it! They have my family!"

My key witness. My only lead. He's about to destroy her.

"Stop!" I yell, struggling against my own guards. "Donovan, you can't! She's the only one who knows who the real conspirators are!"

He doesn't even look at me. His face is a granite mask of cold fury.

Just then, another guard runs up, his face pale with panic. "Alpha! It's Lord Raphael! The healers say he's crashing!"

Donovan's entire demeanor shifts. The cold fury is replaced by a wave of raw panic and pain. He shoves past everyone and sprints down the hall.

He pauses only for a second, throwing a command over his shoulder at my guards. "Put her in the high-security cell. No one in or out." Then he's gone.

I watch him disappear, my last hope vanishing with him. As my guards drag me away, I hear Tilly's terrified screams echo from the direction of the holding cells, followed by a dull thud. Then silence falls completely over that corridor. A cold weight settles in my chest. Donovan had ordered her kept under guard, and this brutal, quiet murder was exactly the kind of betrayal I remembered from my past life. Yet someone had moved swiftly to silence her before he could question her.

They throw me into a dark, damp cell, the heavy iron door slamming shut with a sound of finality. I'm alive, but I'm blind, buried alive in a conspiracy with no way out.
