"Morgan de Winter, come out of hiding," called the strangers' voice.
She looked anxiously around but there was just stillness around her after the calling of her name. All change quickly...
The first sound she hears was that of running feet. Startled she tried looking around but the mistiness makes this impossible. She can hear her own rapid heartbeat. She instantly has the instinct to hide from the person following her.
"Morgan, stop, will you?" called the voice from somewhere within the mistiness. Instead of stopping she simply increased her running speed. Her chest starts to burn from the exercise but something tells her if she stopped and get caught this will mean the death of her.
"Morgan, I beg, please stop and listen. I have a book I need to give you..."
She instantly felt her steps faltering before she went tumbling onto the ground. Her hands felt the bruising on her skin.
"That hurts," she mumbles to herself. When she tried looking at the condition of her hands to her surprise she found a book that look kind of like a dairy but then again like a ledger.
Now completely forgotten about her hurt she tried understanding what was in her hands.
"Morgan..." called the voice again from somewhere.
"Dream or premonition..." she asked herself softly waking in her hiding spot.
"Morgan, where are you?"
The sixteen year old girl in question was hiding in the ceiling of her bedroom. She carefully peeked from above seeing the irate expression of the servant who was clearly sent to come and call her. She truly enjoyed playing hide and seek but only to a point. It wasn't necessary that the servants get into trouble because of her behavior.
"Morgan, where on earth are you?" she called again before actively searching the bedroom entering the bathroom before systematically going through the whole wardrobes. It was quite clear the fury and angst building inside of her, clearly in her expression. While the woman was still going through her wardrobes, she very quietly dropped from the ceiling which automatically sealed behind her. She briefly think she should discover the ultimate secret of this mansion.
"This girl will be the death of me," mumbles the woman slamming the doors closed. Turning around, she almost become bug-eyed when she found the girl in question sitting in a chair in the corner of the bedroom.
"Where...."she stutters in confused fury.
"You were calling for me?" Morgan calmly sits the book aside which she always carries with her. Whatever book she carries was use as evidence to claim the reason she wasn't hearing when called.
"Where on earth did you come from? I searched this whole bedroom." The woman scratched her head in confusion. "Are you perhaps a ghost?"
"I was just sitting here." Morgan stood and walked to the balcony. Looking over the rail she saw the guards patrolling the grounds. She smile inwardly knowing the estate was just as guarded as the most observant guard. She has long since figured out how to sneak passed them, not even the dogs were aware of her actions.
Turning she looked back at the servant who still stood there clearly uncertain as to what she should do. She instantly felt pity but she admits to herself it really was fun. Then again, what was she suppose to do being hidden in the shadows.
"Why did you call me?" she question at last.
"Your father is looking for you." She said after a long pause. "Are you sure you are not a ghost?"
"Why," she questioned with a teasing glint her in eyes.
"It is not for me to question the master. Will you go to him, please? I am already in trouble with the delayed of your appearance. And I certainly can't tell him you are like a ghost in this bedroom."
"Fine," She walked towards the door. "I am not a ghost or maybe I am?"
"Miss de Winter?"
Morgan turned around facing the woman. It's very rarely that they call her like this.
"Is something wrong?"
"Please, miss, put on some shoes. You know your father will explode seeing you barefoot."
Morgan tilted her head sideways seemingly considering the request. Then she shrugged her shoulders and walked back to the bathroom. She slipped her feet into slippers full of holes. Then she returned to the bedroom. The servant nearly had a heart attack when she looked at her feet again.
"Please, miss!" she wailed. "You truly will be the death of me,"
"Oh, stop your nonsense." Morgan walked to the door, opening it then stepping into the carpeted hall. The length of it was as usual covered in shadows. Reaching the stairs she descends downwards. Her footsteps were so silent the guard standing close to the stairs didn't even notice her approached. She flicked his ear from behind as he turned hand on his gun she was already passed him. She laughed while he turned red with suppressed fury.
"My word, I feel safe with you around," she laughed again before entering the huge dining room.
Morgan stood quietly just looking at the de Winter family around the huge table. It's very rarely that they allowed her to dine with them. Since the sudden death of her mother, she was banished to the attic-like bedroom where she secretly sharpened her shadowy skills. Her twinkling eyes roamed over the father and his daughters. They all are busy looking at either a cell phones or tablets. Slipping quietly she took a chair and sit down. Her constant actions were to always sharpen her silent movements. She enjoyed having knowledge no one was aware off.
"Dad, I need a new car." Megan looked sweetly at the man sitting at the head of the table.
"What the hell is wrong with the car you have now?" Henry de Winter was instantly furious. He glared at his daughter demanding an answer.
"I don't like the color."
"Are you out of your mind? That's absolute nonsense." He yelled glaring at his daughter briefly.
"No, it not Dad, my friend has a new car and mine look so basic against hers."
Henry decides not to say anything but scroll through his tablet.
"Are you ignoring me, Dad?" Megan clearly doesn't get the silent message.
"Dad, do I have to go to College this semester? I learn so much more from professor Google."
Henry very carefully put his tablet back on the shiny table. With his left hand he sleeked over his silvery hair. Then he took his thumb and first finger brushing over his beard.
"Between the two of you, there seem to be a couple of brain cells missing." He said through gritted teeth.
"Daddy, are you saying we are dumb?" they both asked in union.
"Yes!" he snapped with building fury. I constantly wonder where on earth I had gotten you. I sincerely hope you were switch at birth but unfortunately I know the truth."
"Daddy!" they both yelled.
Morgan burst out laughing making them aware of her presence.
"How long have you been sitting there?" asked Henry while glaring at her not liking the fact he didn't notice her entering the room.
"Good evening, sir." Morgan smiled sweetly.
"I need to talk to you." Henry stood away from the table. "In private,"
"Before you go Daddy, what is your answer?" asked Daphne.
"Go and ask professor Google how many versions of an answer I might have."
Henry and Morgan both see how eagerly the two women grabbed their phones to look and see. They then avoid looking at each other but both having a different opinion about the two beside the table.
Morgan entered the huge study after Henry. Whenever she has an opportunity to enter this space she quickly but searchingly looked around. Just outside the door stood two silent men dressed in black clearly to blend within the shadows.
"Close the door, Morgan." ordered Henry while he went and sit behind his desk. He intertwined his fingers looking disapprovingly at her. His judgmental eyes raked over her body.
Smiling slightly, she knew how she must look for the man whose rules always dictate that everyone in the house should always look immaculate.
"Must you always look like a bum, Morgan?" he asked with controlled fury.
"Good evening, sir," was her only answer. She knows her behavior infuriates him.
"Your mother, rest her soul, never looked like this. I don't understand your actions. It truly saddens me that you throw yourself away like that since you are your mother's very image, Morgan. Her beauty was beyond compare. All the men wanted her but she had chosen me."
"May I ask a question, sir?"
"Yes, Morgan, what is it?"
"You say you miss my mother,"
"Yes, I do."
"Tell me then, why are you hiding me in the attic?"
"It's is for your own safety, Morgan."
"That is the issue I don't understand, sir."
"Your mother made me promise to always make sure you stay safe, Morgan. There are people out there who could hurt you."
"But sir, the only people who currently are hurting me, is you. Since my mother's death, not once did I set foot outside. I am not even allowed to wander around in the garden."
"It is for your own safety, Morgan. Why can't you understand that?" he looked at her with piercing eyes.
"Sir, the estate is overflowing with guards yet I am forced to live in the attic. Why can't I move back to my old room?"
"I prefer that you stay where you are Morgan. I know what is best for you."
"Sir, I have another question."
"What is it, Morgan. You are full of questions tonight."
"Am I allowed to go to College once I turned eighteen? I know my trust fund from my Dad will cover my immediate expenses."
"No!" he barked getting onto his feet he round his desk coming towards her. His very behavior was aggressive with the immediate intent to inflict harm but she carefully noticed how he retracts the scorpion's needle.
She was about to retreat when she noticed something familiar on his desk suddenly on high alert baiting her time that arrived sooner than expected.
"Morgan..."
Henry was reaching for her when the door burst opened and two guards stood there looking worried.
"What the devil, man?" yelled Henry.
"We have an intruder on the grounds. He seemed to have disappeared into the mansion, sir." answered one man very nervous.
"Find him. Now!" he yelled as he followed the man outside leaving the door slightly ajar.
Morgan moved quickly when she realized she was alone in the study. Moving fast towards the desk she reached for the very familiar diary. A piece of paper was also in there. Quickly scanning the ceiling she found the spot she was looking for. Slipping from her slippers she run and jump, stepping on the back of the chair, jumping into the air, touching the hidden compartment in the ceiling, pushing it open before slipping the book inside. It automatically sealed again as she landed on the carpeted floor, slipping her feet back into the slippers, now standing in the very spot Henry left her.
"The dream earlier, was this forewarning for this very moment? I wonder if my dreams are leading me?" she converse softly with herself before shutting her mouth.
"Morgan..." Henry hurried back into the study clearly concerned that he left her there alone. He looked surprise finding her in the same spot.
"Are you alright?" he openly looked at her.
"Yes sir. I didn't move."
"I am glad."
"Did you find the intruder?"
"Not yet. I want you to go back to the attic. I also want you to lock the door. I will place two guards outside in the hall."
"I don't have a key to the door, sir?"
Henry quickly went around his desk, pulled out a drawer and took hold of a key which he handed to her. "Go now and stay inside no matter what you hear. Do you understand me?"
"Yes sir."
Morgan walked out the door, two men instantly fallen into step with her. Quickly climbing the staircase she practically run to her attic bedroom and shut to lock the door.
Morgan was restless with curiosity but instinctively knowing she should maintain concealment. She has her own agenda and it's nobody's business what she was up too. The less people know about her secret actions the better...
"Now let's see what all this commotion is about." Morgan quickly dressed in all black. Her long hair tied into a bun before hiding her face behind the black balaclava. Silently moving towards the balcony and looking over the railing. The two guards from earlier has grown into six. The attic bedroom darkens so her behavior isn't readily noticeable.
"You guys are so intent on watching the grounds, why is there no one amongst you who have the brain cell to look up too," she whispered softly. Looking back into the bedroom briefly certain she locked the door she starts her game for the night. "Just so I am clear to myself, I am not overly confidant because one day there might just be a bright spark amongst you all."
The mansion consists of three levels along with the attic on top. Her fingers gripped securely slithering along the side of the rough walls reaching the small window close to the rooftop. Since she oiled it well a while back it opened without any problems. Just as her slender frame slipped through, the guards checked the side of the walls.
"Too slow, guys," she said softly smiling.
Waiting a few seconds for her eyes to adjust to the darkness she starts to move forward her mind remembering the short-lived fear that she might become blind one day, which was the motivation for her to truly move within the shadows. Her fear once was now her greatest strength.
The whole interior and exterior of this estate, she knows it like the palm of her hand.
"You, Henry de Winter, who bought my Dad's surname to benefit from his legacy, you don't know I was with my Daddy when he design this place. He showed me all the secrets." She says softly while slithering fast towards the study knowing that was usually the place where business was conduct.
"You have the castle but you know nothing about its designs. It was for that very reason I can move around without you or your guard dogs being the wise." Her white teeth gleamed in the darkness.
"Did you find him?" yelled Henry. It seem like he could strangle someone.
"No sir. " The guard answered carefully while waiting for the man's fury to be unleashed on him.
"Fools, why did I hire such useless people?"
"We are still looking, sir."
"Get out and find that person." Henry throws the glass in his hands. It shattered against the wall.
Morgan lay on top on the ceiling directly above the study. Her slim finger slipped into the hole before she carefully opened it putting her head through very carefully looking around. She spotted her stepfather but he never looks up so he always stays clueless, not once did he ever noticed her but she was no fool, always careful and guarded with her actions.
"Bunch of idiots," Henry poured himself another glass of brandy. He went and sits down behind his chair. With one swallow he gulps the brown stuff down. Clearly used to doing this, he didn't even cough, she observed quietly.
"What the hell?"
Henry quickly searched his desk before he throws the whole lot of documents onto the floor. Getting onto his feet he quickly run to the door and opened it.
"Martin," he called the butler.
The man appeared quickly.
"Yes sir?"
"Go this instant to Morgan's bedroom and searched it."
"What am I to find, sir?" The man looked baffled but he learned to mask his face and do what he was ordered.
"A book, go now, and you better have it when you come back. I had enough of useless people tonight." He yelled with building fury.
Henry went back into his study and slammed the door closed.
Morgan was already on the move and quickly while suppressing her giggles while thinking that diary must be very important for Henry to react like that.
"Open this door," insist Martin to the two guards who seemed puzzled.
"We don't have the key, Martin." replied one of the men.
"Who has it then?" Martin feels his own impatience building while wondering about the type of book he was suppose to find.
"Miss de Winter." He called at first but received no answer.
"Morgan de Winter!"Martin yelled from outside before he start to slammed repeatedly against the door.
The keys start to turn in the door before she sleepily opens it. Before she could ask, he pushed her out of the way and entering her private space. He felt a guilty crawling down his back but shake the feeling from him.
"What is going on, Martin?" she asked yawning.
"Where is it?" Martin demand glaring in her direction.
"What, Martin?" Morgan looked completely puzzled and sleepy rubbing her eyes.
"I want the book." He demanded holding out his hand.
"It's mine, Martin."
"Give me the book, Miss de Winter."
Morgan looked curiously at the man who seems to be on the verge of exploding. The two men from outside her bedroom also looked confused.
"It's under my second pillow." She said at last watching the older man openly confused.
Martin stormed towards the bed, grabbed hold of the pillows throwing them on the floor. The book was grabbed and looked at.
"Why do you want my book?" questioned Morgan now clearly confused.
"Why does he want this?" Martin looked just as confused as the sleepy girl in front of him.
"Martin, why are you taking my book?"
"Do you have other books here?"
"Yes." She pointed to the bookcase.
Martin very quickly but systematically throws them all on the floor but kept the one from the pillow. They all looked ordinary to him.
"Goodnight Miss de Winter." Martin left the bedroom, his back become rigid when he heard the door slam closed and was keyed again.
"Come in Martin. Did you find the book?" Henry quickly holds out his hand seeing a book.
"This is the only thing I found. She had it under her pillow, sir." Martin handed him the book.
"Idiot," he yelled and throws the book at him. "Can't you see this book is of no importance?"
"I am sorry, sir. What type of book was I suppose to look for? The little room was packed and this seemed important since she kept it under the pillow."
"You are an idiot,"
Just like earlier the guard burst in again clearly having some information he can't seem to wait to deliver.
"Sir, we found him." He said excitedly.
"Bring him to me immediately." ordered Martin. "No wait, I am coming."
Henry followed the guard walking towards the door where three men stood. The two guards seemed wary of the tall muscular man who they clearly had an encounter with.
"Who the hell are you?" yelled Henry halting in front of the man who still dwarf his own length.
"Who are you?" question the man with a superior attitude looking at all the men seeming to marked them with his eyes.
"I am the owner of this estate. Now tell me, sir, why are you snooping around on my grounds?" Henry can barely control his fury mingled with worry about the missing diary.
"I would appreciate you change your tone of voice, sir." Suggest the dark stranger who seemed to grow taller.
"Why should I?" Henry challenged while trying to raise his own frame that still fall short.
"I am not one of your hence men." The stranger declares warningly.
Henry eyed the dark stranger and decide he don't like the man. There seem to be something dangerous about him. Again he tried to level his height with the man in front of him, but still no use. Taking a deep breath he looked into his dark eyes.
"What are you doing here in the middle of the night?"
"Are you family of Michael de Winter?"
"Why do you know that name?" Henry was instantly on guard.
"Where is Michael or Anna?" the stranger's eyes grew piercing now.
Henry look at the other man realizing everything about him suggest trouble. He frowns wondering internally why he doesn't know anything about this guy.
"They are dead." He said fatly without emotion.
"How and when?" asked the stranger clearly shaken while instantly looming over the older man.
"Michael died four years ago and my wife a year ago." replied Henry cautiously.
"I see,"
"Tell me your name?"
"Thomas Blackstone. I am your neighbor."
"Why didn't you knock on the door like a normal person?"
"Because..." Thomas smack twice against his leg. The little monkey jumped onto his shoulder. "You didn't know about Lilly, and I didn't want your dogs attacking her."
Henry instantly took a couple of steps backwards.
"Don't worry, sir. She is very friendly."
"Go and next time knock on the front door."
"Yes sir." Thomas looked into the interior of the hall and notices the absolute changes. Something about the place and the man claiming to be the owner doesn't sit well with him.
Morgan stood on the top of the staircase. Her two guards stood around Henry. The only thing she noticed from above was a man with long legs. The moment she heard him mention her parents names, the urge was impossible to go down. Instinct warned her not to since Henry will explode when she exposes herself to the stranger but still the urge stays overwhelming strong. It was in a manner forbidden to asked questions about her parents.
"Who is he?" she whispered softly.
"I must find a way to know more about him. He has to tell me why he knew both my parents."
Morgan moved swiftly back to her bedroom just about to close the door, when the little monkey coming running inside. She jumped beneath the cover and hides her face but also softly laughing.
"Lilly!" called Thomas.
"Hey you?" called Henry. "Get back here."
Thomas ignores him as he climbed the staircase. On the second floor was no sign of Lilly.
As he was looking up towards the third floor, two men grabbed hold of him.
"What the devil, man?" he snapped.
"Where do you think you are going?" asked a very furious Henry.
Thomas shook the two men's hands from him and stood quietly. He looked at the owner with an 'I dare you' look.
"Go and get that bloody monkey," yelled Henry to the man standing closest to the third floor. The man went upstairs. It didn't take long before he yelped as books still strewn on the floor was thrown at him.
"Mister de Winter, I can't get into the room?" The guard was now wary of the little animal.
"What nonsense is this?" Henry was furious but still didn't trust the stranger.
"She will only get aggressive. Let me go and get her." Thomas was worried about his little companion. He was curious as to what Lilly discovered up there that he wasn't allowed to know.
Henry was doing damage control in his head but also know he want that animal out of the mansion. He walked ahead of Thomas while ordering him to follow.
Thomas noticed they left the third floor climbing a very narrow staircase. A light was shining into the narrow hallway. The man in front of him stopped not really allowing him to pass. He finds his behavior very suspicious but decides to wonder about it later. But he was convinced something off was going on here in this newly occupied de Winter mansion. Things are not the way he remembered them not at all.
"Lilly, come here, girl." He called gently. He can hear her having a conversation in what appears to be a bedroom but he can't decipher the voice.
"Lilly!" he called again.
The shadow of someone dressed in black appears in the door but because Henry was thwarting him he can't really see, only a pair of beautiful bare feet. Lilly was holding hands with her.
"Come here, Lilly." He calls gently.
"Go," says Morgan softly.
Staying in the shadows, Morgan watches how the friendly little monkey jumped into a pair of strong arms.
"Get out," orders Henry.
Morgan felt a sudden burst of restless energy flowing through her veins. She very carefully closed the bedroom door but she also knows Henry well enough that he would soon call her down to his study. She could sense from above the staircase that Henry was worried about the stranger. This was very curious too her.
"Who was that man? Why did Henry treat him like that? I am aware that people are not supposed to be aware of me but it was clear this man knew something about my parents. What was Henry hiding from me?"
Morgan carefully left her bedroom again and stood still in the shadows of the staircase while the questions still rumble around in her mind once she silenced her mouth. She has learned early on to be careful what people hear or observe about her
"Morgan?" called Henry from below.
"He sounds furious." She said quietly. "Better compose my face."
"Morgan comes to my study," he orders.
Morgan slowly descends the staircase looking around but knowing the stranger already left. Her skin crawls with unknown excitement and she couldn't understand why.
She enters the study and noticed there were no guards in sight. This silently worries her. She closed the office door out of habit.
"Is something wrong, sir?" She stood obediently in front of the desk even though he stands in front of the window.
"Are you alright?" he asked seriously.
"Yes, sir," She had a fleeting look of surprise but quickly masked her face again.
"Did that monkey hurt you?" he still asked in that solemn voice.
"No, sir she just playfully woke me."
"Alright,"
"Sir, where did she come from? Does Megan or Daphne have a pet?"
Henry turns around to look directly at her. Quietly he just stood there and observes her as she look now. The long brownish red hair hangs loosely around her slender shoulders. She was rarely tall for her age but her slender length suite her. He absently notices she might be her mothers' image but she doesn't have that natural sex-appeal. Then again, she is still young and inexperienced.
"Is something wrong, sir?"
Henry realized his thoughts have wandered and he was caught.
"Morgan, go to your bedroom. Please do me a favor and make sure that man doesn't see you."
"He won't sir. I never go outside you know that. Are you worried about him, sir?" Morgan carefully watches him simply knowing he would lie straight in her face.
"Not worried more cautious. I don't like not knowing when there are new people in the neighborhood. That man was acting very suspicious. Promise me you will stay hidden, Morgan."
"I promise, sir. Thank you for looking out for me. I appreciate this very much."
"Yes, you are a good girl. Certainly not like that brainless idiots I call daughters. I can just imagine how idiotic they would act if they should find the fool." Henry burst out before reaching for a glass to pour him a drink.
"Before I go back to my room may I have something to eat sir?"
"Yes of cause,"
"Thank you, sir."
Morgan turns around and walked purposefully to the kitchen.
"Miss de Winter, what are you doing here?" asked a very surprise Martin.
"I am hungry and the sir said it's okay to make myself a snack." she answered.
"No, I won't permit this. Please take a seat and I will quickly prepare you something." Martin instantly opened the vast refrigerator and removed fruits and vegetables placing it on the counter.
"What are you doing?" Morgan just had to ask.
"Making you something healthy to eat," answered Martin.
"Well I don't want it." She said drily.
"Why not, it's what your sisters are eating."
"How long are you working for Mister de Winter, Martin?"
"Three years," he answered confused with the line of conversation. Quietly he thinks again this girl was a constant source of confusion to him.
"So you believe during that time, my step-sisters have somehow miraculously become my sisters. Well they are not and I want peanut butter and jelly bread along with a tall glass of milk and Martin you sit down and I will do this myself. I must admit you are making me uncomfortable by being my servant."
"It's my duty Miss de Winter." He objects.
"I don't care so just leave me alone."
Morgan quickly prepares four slices of thick peanut butter and jelly dripping from the sides. She took her plate and went to sit at the side of the vast counter. With absolute satisfaction she bites into the bread.
"That is very unlady-like," observed Martin.
"That's your opinion but then tell me, who am I suppose to impress with my actions no-one, Martin. I will do what I want or like." She took another bite clearly annoying the man who watch her with displeasure on his face.
"You don't like me manners..." She took another huge bite and chew with pleasure, "don't look and go do something elsewhere in the mansion." She took another bite.
Morgan looked at the clock against the wall. It was just passed eleven o' clock at night. She briefly admires the woodwork and decides it must be very valuable. Everything in this huge mansion speaks of old money whereas with Mister de Winter, it's clearly new money.
He was her guardian and jailer but even though this mansion has a kind of sadness about it, she wouldn't mind living here. Just standing in the darkness she could feel the presence of the place enfolding her making her longing to belong.
"Who is there?" asked Thomas out of the blue.
Morgan quickly dives behind the sofa very much startled by his unexpected arrival.
"Now where did he come from?" she whispers breathless.
"I know you are in here." Thomas said a bit aggressively. "I won't call the police if you show your face now." He warned wondering if the strange was from the de Winter household.
Morgan was on her hands and knees in the giant room clearly the place where the owner unwinds, since from what she could make out from her hidden angle, it looked lived-in before peeking around the sofa very carefully she saw him standing in the doorway carefully looking through the room. His searching eyes missed the hidden girl.
"I have to get passed him," she whispered to herself.
"Do you want me to call the dogs?" Thomas folded his arms across his chest surveying the room.
Morgan quickly smothered her laugh knowing the man don't have dogs. She suddenly frowns wondering where Lilly was.
She has been secretly observing him and realized since the night he was at her house, he don't appear to have friends or family. The man seemed very much alone and somehow this intrigued her. She never even bordered to be curious about anybody but this man was different.
"Lilly, intruder..." He calls completely like they were on the same page.
Looking again she noticed he move slightly into the hall. Just the moment she waited for, as she swiftly moved towards the door becoming one with the shadows.
"Lilly, come here girl."
Thomas holds his hand out towards her. The little monkey just looked at him while eating her banana. He frowns at her stubborn behavior.
"Where did you get that banana, Lilly? You already had your quota for the day."
Thomas glared at his monkey who has the cheek to throw the peel at him.
"The nerve of it, Lilly, come and pick it up now!" he orders seriously.
Lilly comes closer and the moment she was right in front of Thomas, she run passed him into the family room.
"The check of you," Thomas instantly chases her.
Morgan timed him and the moment he moved away from the door chasing Lilly, she slipped into the hall and running upstairs. Most of the bedroom doors were closed except the giant bedroom at the end of the hall. She knows this fact since she checked. He would burst an artery when he learned just how much she snooped in his space and that Lilly helped her being wicked.
Cheekily she stepped into his private space, all black and grey colours. This clearly was a very masculine bedroom.
On suddenly impulse she opened his private balcony door and slipped outside. She jumped down below before she purposefully walked towards the flowers. Very carefully she picked three colours of roses, white, red and yellow. With it in hand she went back the way she comes, hosting herself back onto the balcony.
"Just to make sure he isn't in here, yet." She told herself while looking carefully back into the bedroom. "Oh, good," She slipped inside and carefully placed the three roses down on his pillow. "I am curious to know what you will think of this bold gift. I am rather curious about you as a person Thomas Blackstone."
"Lilly, wait for me,"
Thomas follows her and silently decides his little monkey knows who was snooping around in his place. He had become aware of this person a couple of days ago. Nothing was ever disturbed; he just knew she was in here.
Stopping just outside his bedroom door which was opened he can clearly hear Lilly playing with someone in there.
"Lilly, do you have company?" he queried but stay outside.
The seconds ticked in his head before Lilly suddenly made an appearance. His own monkey eyed him like he was the intruder but the way she was pulling his door close hiding whoever was in there.
"Are you hiding someone, Lilly?"
The little monkey just looked at him, grinning.
"Do I know who it is?"
Now the little monkey was holding her head sideways clearly considering how to answer.
"You know Lilly, I have decided to get a parrot then at least I will get the answers to my questions."
Lilly in turn simply closed and locked his own bedroom door.
"What the..." Thomas banged against the door.
"Lilly, who is in there with you? Your behavior is very naughty. Open this door right now." He banged against the door again. His hand stopped midway when he actually heard the musical laughter of a girl.
"Who are you?" he instantly questioned. "Lilly I want you to open this bedroom door right now."
Suddenly all is very quiet in there. Listening with his ear against the door he faintly hears some kind of whispering. The next moment he looked down seeing a piece of paper being pushed through. He quickly picked it up and read the note.
"I am in here with Lilly." He read out loud.
"Do you have a name?" he questions.
Again the whispering and some giggling before another note make its appearance.
"Yes," he read again.
"Do you mind telling me what your name is then?" he queries as he already was looking down and right on cue the piece of paper appears.
"You have to find out yourself," he read.
"Why are you stalking me?" he questioned.
The next moment there seem to be a kind of arguing behind the door. It seems Lilly was having serious objections. Then all is still. He counts the minutes in his head while waiting but then become impatient.
"Are you still in there? Is Lilly safe? Please don't hurt her."
Thomas scratches the back of his neck but realized he found this little hide and seek game intriguing. At least he was having a bit of action in his usual bored life. Another note appeared.
"I challenge you to find me, for I live with characters from a fictional world. Sometimes there are lies, sometimes there is truth, but to know about me you have to look behind the curtains." He read aloud. The moment he finished his bedroom door opened and he looked at Lilly who was looking at the open balcony door. He quickly rushes towards it although he knows she would be gone.
As he closed the door he found the three roses on his pillow.
"White is for truth, Lilly. Yellow is friendship and red is passion."
The monkey comes and take his hand looking curiously at him before leading him to sit down in his favorite chair, "Who is she, Lilly?"
