Chapter 1 Captivating My Master's heart

Gabriella

The cold marble floor beneath my feet seemed to drain the last shred of hope from my veins as the guards dragged me forward. Ruby, the drug lord's mistress, descended from her throne-like chair, her stilettos clicking on the floor. Her perfume, a sweet and suffocating scent, wafted toward me.

"Bring her forward," she ordered, her voice tingled with cruelty.

As the guards pulled me closer, Ruby circled me, her eyes raking over my body.

"Oh, best friend, so sad to see you serve me." Her voice feigned sympathy. "Four years ago, you should have been here, in my place, as his mistress."

I caught the glint of gold on her fingers as she gestured, her nails gleaming like razor-sharp talons. The memories she stirred up made my chest tighten.

"But what did you do?" she continued, her voice lethally sharp. "You chose to run away with Otto, and he still betrayed you by bringing you back here, as a slave."

A bitter laugh escaped my lips, echoing off the cavernous room. "Are you trying to dig up my past?" I asked, meeting Ruby's gaze. "It's obvious you know everything since you were my best friend. What exactly do you want, Ruby?"

Ruby's face twisted in rage, her cheeks flushing. "Ruby?" she spat, her voice rising. "I am your master's mistress. How dare you address me by my name?"

I flashed a sly grin, my lips curling upward. "Should I call you mistress?."

The air seemed to vibrate with Ruby's anger. For a moment, she was mute, her chest heaving. Then, her expression hardened. "Behead her!" she shrieked.

The guards yanked me away, their grip bruising. Panic set in as I stumbled, my heart racing. Time seemed to slow as the guards' grip tightened. I closed my eyes, bracing for the worst. But instead of the expected blow, Uriah's commanding voice cut through the tension.

His arrival halted the guards, and I caught a glimpse of his piercing gaze locked onto me.

His voice cut through the tension. "What is happening here?"

Ruby's smile faltered, her eyes darting to the floor. "Nothing, master. I'm just teaching her a lesson."

Uriah's gaze never left the floor, his jaw clenched. "By beheading her?"

Ruby's laughter sounded strained, her words tumbling out in a rush. "What are you saying? You heard wrong."

Uriah's silence was oppressive, his stillness a contrast to Ruby's growing agitation. She shifted her weight, her hands twisting together.

Ruby tried again, her voice trembling. "Oh, you heard that? It's a novel." She turned to me, her smile tight. "Go Gabby, get me the novel. Make sure to get that one... or it's going to be next time."

Her eyes blazed with fury, but I kept my tone neutral. "Yes, mistress."

Ruby's eyes widened, surprise mingling with anger. Her lips pressed together, forming a thin line.

"My lord, how was your trip?" Ruby asked, her voice overly bright. "Do you want me to make a hot bath for you?"

Uriah ignored Ruby, his focus snapping to me. His eyes burned with intensity, the red rims making my pulse skip.

"You!" he said, his voice low and commanding.

I bowed my head, my heart racing. "Yes, my lord."

"Prepare my bath."

Uriah turned to leave, but Ruby intercepted him. "That's preposterous. Why will a common maid prepare it? I'll do it."

Uriah's grip on Ruby's arm was vice-like. Her eyes went wide with fear before she wrenched free, fleeing the mansion with her bodyguards.

I stood alone with Uriah, the air thick with unspoken tension. His gaze snapped to me, his eyes burning with intensity

Uriah's gaze pinned me. "What are you still doing here?"

My voice barely rose above a whisper. "I'm sorry, master. I'll prepare the bath now."

My feet seemed rooted until Uriah's gaze released me. I rushed to obey, my heart pounding.

I poured the scorching water into the tub, my hands shaking slightly. The sound of splashing water filled the air, and I couldn't help but glance at the door, anticipating Uriah's arrival.

He strode in, his red robe accentuating his broad shoulders, and my gaze instinctively dropped to the floor.

"What's your name?" he asked, his deep voice commanding attention.

"Gabriella, master," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Gabriella?" He repeated, his tone thoughtful. "Sounds familiar."

I dared a glance, meeting his piercing gaze. "Yes, master."

His eyes seemed to bore into mine, as if searching for something.

"Well, Gabriella, do you want to see me naked?" he asked, his voice low and husky.

My cheeks flamed, and I took a step back, startled. "What?"

He chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You can leave, unless you want to see what doesn't belong to you."

I laughed nervously, trying to compose myself. "Oh, that's what you meant. You should have told me; I had bad thoughts for a second."

He took a step closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Bad thoughts, I see... You think I want to get down there? Huh, Guilabella?"

My heart skipped a beat at the familiar name.

"You still can't get my name right," I said, pushing him gently away.

"It's Gabriella, master. And no, I don't want you down anywhere but..." My gaze locked onto his, a spark of defiance igniting within me.

"I'll leave now," I said, turning to depart.

His voice halted me. "Gabriella."

I glanced back, meeting his intense gaze.

With a final glance, Uriah dismissed me, and I fled the chambers, my heart racing.

Uriah, my first love and first enemy.

Chapter 2 Dilemma

Gabriella

My heart was pounding faster as I left Uriah's room.

What if I wanted to see his perfectly God created body? It's not bad.

A faint smile showed across my face. My face grew warm, a flush creeping up my neck.

After some many years, he finally asked for my name. Now I was starting to regret following Otto, my supposed to be husband, who betrayed me and sold me to Uriah because he wanted money to pay off his debt and run away with his lover to start a family.

Such a betrayal.

As I was deep in thought, someone tapped my shoulder, it was Daphne, my fellow slave mate.

"Hey, what happened in there?" She asked, her voice above a whisper. She continued, "Did you see his packs?"

I wrapped my fingers around her wrist, steering her towards the storage room.

"Tell me Gabby, don't keep good information to yourself. I heard Lord Uriah protected you from that evil witch Ruby."

"More like punished me." I said as I let out a contemptuous snuff.

"But honestly, I was scared that Ruby was going to hurt you." She said in great concern and forged ahead, undeterred, "How could one change due to an incident that happened years ago?. It was a fair competition. She cheated but now she's the one who gets all the benefits.".

Her words brought back memories, I remembered that year, a day before I was made Uriah's mistress.

[FLASH BACK]

I received a cream-colored envelope with Uriah's seal.

I opened it and found an invite, it says:

'THIS DAY, I command you to be my mistress.'

That was all. What am I? A toy he can just command and she'll heed?

Ruby was with me.

Her face tightened, jaw clenched, "I thought I'd be the one to receive the message, why you?"

I turned to her. "That doesn't matter Ruby, right now I'm being sold, do you think I like any of this?"

"You better not." She said, her rapid footsteps receded, leaving an uncomfortable silence.

Otto came in. "Hey Gabby. What's wrong with Ruby?"

"What do you mean?"

"She seemed angry. Did you guys fight?" He questioned, his eyes lit up with concern.

"We didn't. She's just pissed I got the envelope and she didn't."

"The announcement has been made? You're Uriah's Mistress?"

I remained still, unspeaking.

"Gabriella, you can't, we both know you can't."

I turned to him, my voice trembled as I spoke . "Do I have a choice? Who am I to go against the order of the drug lord?."

"Gabriella, we're getting married. We can just flee."

"Flee?, and then what?. Uriah finds out and we're dead." I said

"He won't find out, besides I've made arrangements, I came here to tell you." He said

He continued. "I love you Gab, and I can't bear to see you being my enemy's mistress."

"Otto..."

"Think about it gab." He said, his voice chilled, as he turned to depart.

I thought about it

Be with Uriah or escape with Otto.

Later in the day, Ruby calmed down and came over to my place.

"Hey, I heard."

"You heard what?" I questioned.

"You and Otto are planing on escaping."

I clamped my hand over her lips.

"We're not. At least I haven't really thought about it."

"What do you mean by you haven't thought about it? There's no time, now is your chance." She said. "I'll help you, follow your heart and I know you'll make the right decision. I trust you."

It was assuring that I had a friend like her.

I made up my mind and decided to flee the town.

Otto talked to some of his friends that are working for Uriah and they agreed to help us out.

Ruby said she was going to take my place and pretend to be me.

Suspicious but despite how ruthless everyone knows Uriah to be, she has always liked him and I did too, but that was in the past.

The D-Day came.

I and Otto were on our way, leaving the town and Ruby became the mistress in my place.

A shiver ran down my spine as Otto's smile seemed too wide, too reassuring.

"Otto, I think someone is following us." I said , constantly looking back.

"Chill Gabby, no one is." He replied.

Like a speed of light, Uriah's guards appeared and surrounded us.

"Otto... I told you." I whispered, my voice trembling.

They grabbed me and was taking me away. I turned to Otto and I found him smirking.

A guard handed him a bag of money.

"I've cleared off my debt. It was nice doing business with you. Farewell." With those final words, he strode away and I was dragged to Uriah's mansion.

As we arrived at the mansion, my mind reeled as Ruby stood before me, her black dress a stark contrast to the warmth I once associated with her.

"Gabriella Davis is officially the Drug Lord's slave. Take her to the quarters." She said.

If Ruby was in my place, she wouldn't call my name so openly, unless she played a foul game.

Betrayers. Otto and Ruby, the ones I trusted ruined me.

[FLASH BACK ENDS]

The memory still lingered, a bitter taste in my mouth.

Just as Daphne finished speaking, Ruby stormed in, her eyes blazing with anger.

"What happened in there?" she questioned.

I eyed her, hissed at her and walked out, daphne followed.

"Hey, what was that? You know Ruby is going to spark back." Daphne said in great concern.

"I know Daphne, and I'm ready for a fight."

Later that day, some guests dressed in a black attire came over and Uriah crossed them while they headed to the warehouse behind the mansion. I secretly followed them, and spied.

I heard them arguing.

"I won't let you do this!" Uriah said, his voice filled with rage.

"Then provide a solution." One of the guest said.

"I will, just give me some time." Uriah begged.

Another guest said. "3 days, XIA DL. Just 3."

XIA DL? A code name?

They left with a angry face. Lord Uriah didn't follow.

I waited for him but I got tired and was leaving when I suddenly tripped on something, falling straight into Uriah's arm.

"Is this intentional?." He questioned as our eyes met, making my heart skip.

His eyes, cold as ever.

I stammered "No- no master."

"How long have you been standing there?" He asked.

"Not for long."

"Were you hoping to catch a glimpse of my abs?" He asked.

I let out a derisive puff of air, rolling my eyes "what the heck?. You must think you're special. "

A low, husky sound escaped his throat, his eyes crinkling at the corners, "and you must badly want my attention."

I froze.

He smiled and said. "Well it's not so easy, you have to work for it."

"What should I do?" I asked.

"My bedroom."

"What?" I said, stunned.

"Let's go to my bedroom, now."

Chapter 3 Dangerous Attraction

Gabriella

I remained statue- still, uncertainty gripping me.

With a swift motion, he turned.

"Master, what-"

"If you really want my attention, you won't ask questions." He spun around, leaving me to ponder on his words.

I had to find out.

This bedroom was looking stranger than earlier.

"Get on the bed." He said, breaking the silence with his eyes on me.

I crossed my arms, guarding my vulnerable core "What?"

"You heard me. Do it." He said mightily.

"Look, jerk master, if you think you can take advantage of me, you're mistaken." I said with uneasiness confidence.

He laughed. "Feisty. I like that."

"You said you'd do anything to get my attention, this is little. I know you're all special down there."

A derisive laugh burst from my lips, my voice a little louder than a whisper. "Pervert."

"Calm down, don't get the wrong idea." He said, trying to convince me.

"Sorry master but I already did."

"Just get on the bed ." He said and pushed me to the bed,I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and we both fell on the bed, our face close to each other.

We were mute for minutes, we stared deep into each other eyes.

'I can't believe this is happening, oh Gabriella.' I clenched my eyes shut, my lashes trembling as I struggled to contain my emotions. The air shifted, and I sensed his presence drawing nearer. His warm breath danced across my ear, sending shivers down my spine.

"What thoughts are consuming you?" he whispered, his voice husky and teasing. "Something naughty , perhaps? Far from saintly?"

I jerked back, creating distance between us. My hands instinctively rose, palms flat against his chest, as if to ward off the tantalizing threat he posed.

"Are you disappointed? Were you expecting something else?" He asked as he stared into my eyes.

"I wasn't expecting anything." I said and was about to leave in rush when he stopped me. "Hold on, you haven't told me."

I asked, my brow furrowed in confusion, "Told you what?"

"The texture."

"Texture? What texture?" I asked.

"Of the bed? I called you here to ask for your opinion, I just got a new bed and a new decor, what do you think?" He said as I gasped.

That's what all this was about?.

The bed texture? I'm insane for thinking he was referring to something else.

His voice thick and cold, bringing me back to reality, "Hello? Are you alive?"

"Oh, yes master. The bed texture is nice, so is the room decor. Nice." I said with a cold face. "Since I've answered, excuse me." I left.

My heart raced.

Second time a roll.

I headed to my room. Laid down on my warm bed, my face up to the ceiling.

I was feeling happy and sad.

'I was betrayed by my best friend and fiancé.'

'For some reasons, I'm being tangled up with Uriah. I'm not sure if I should be happy about this but still I'm glad he finally noticed me.'

My 4th year in this horrible place, serving a drug lord master.

If my parents were still alive, I'd probably not feel sad. At least I'll have a companion.

I thought about my life and fell asleep.

"Gabriella! Gabriella!" Someone called out and I slowly opened my eyes to met Ruby and her guards standing in front of me and Daphne pushed to one side.

"Why are you disturbing my beauty sleep mistress?." I said as I reluctantly stood up from the mat.

"You slut."

"That's harsh, what have I done this time?" I demanded.

"I'm glad you know you've done something wrong. Why does Uriah insist of you following him to the field?."

My eyes widened in disbelief.

"What?"

She let out a contemptuous snuff. "Don't pin on him because he saved your butt yesterday gabby, I'll make sure that Novel happens in reality next time." She said , stamping her heels on the marble floor and storming out, slamming the door as her guards followed.

I stood there in shock. Questions roams on my mind. Why me? Why is he doing this?

Daphne interrupted my thoughts, "Unbelievable; who does she think she is? She's the slut not you."

"Make sure she doesn't hear that." I said as I went into the bathroom.

"But honestly, why does Lord Uriah want you?"

"Uh rephrase that. He doesn't want me."

She rolled her eyes. "Hmm. At least he has finally noticed you, in your fourth year. You'll soon graduate, trust me."

We both laughed.

Someone knocked at the door.

"Gabriella, lord Uriah awaits you."

"I'll be down in less than thirty." I dashed into the bathroom, reminding myself, A girl's gotta look her best. After a quick refresh, I emerged ready.

My eyes scanned the yard and landed on Uriah, radiating confidence and masculinity. His gaze met mine, and a captivating smile spread across his face. He waved, and I sauntered over.

"Good morning, Master," I said, my voice measured.

"Hello, Gabriella," Uriah replied, his eyes locking onto mine.

"Hello..." he dragged his statement waiting for a response while I said, "Gabriella, master."

"Thank you for that. How are you Gabriella?" He asked and I darted my eyes away, avoiding eye contact, "I'm fine master."

"You must wonder why I insisted on you coming to the field with me."

I nodded.

His voice laced with skepticism, "I heard Ruby threw a tantrum, are you alright?"

I managed a reply, still reeling from the sudden shift. "I'm fine"

"I'm glad."

My eyebrows arched, curiosity sparkling in his eyes. "You're glad? Why?"

His hands cradled my face, thumbs gently stroking my cheeks. "I don't know, Gab. My sudden fascination with you defies explanation"

'He fancies me?'

"Master, we met yesterday for the first time in four years that I've been working for you and yes your sudden interest in me and how I'm doing is suspicious, I must say." I said.

His lips parted to speak, but I cut in, my words tumbling out. " I don't appreciate you acting like you've known me for years. I came here because I have so much respect for you but I'm sorry for crossing my limit and hearing things I wasn't supposed to. It will never happen again."

I dipped my head, apology etched on my face. "Sorry," I murmured, turning to flee.

My feet carried me swiftly back to the mansion, but the crunch of gravel behind me made me spin around, fists clenched and ready.

Instead of an enemy, Uriah's chiseled features came into view. His long strides closed the distance, and before I could react, he enveloped me in a crushing hug.

"You don't know anything Gabriella. I've watched you for four years. More than four."
