City San Zero
Rowan
I stepped out of the blood pooling under my shoes as the dead body is being dragged out.
"Alpha, here."
I take the napkin from my beta, Elias, cleaning blood off my hands as I watch the city night view from the balcony of my skyscraper.
"That is the last time I'm going to deal with a human pretending to be an Omega to avoid getting their liver from being harvested. I hate these casualties," My tone is firm with disappointment.
This is the eighth time this month.
"I apologize Alpha, it won't happen again."
"It shouldn't," I placed a cigarette between my lips, flicking my exclusive made lighter with an orange hue, sucking the smoke with steady lungs, "I won't stop myself from killing them when I find out and that equals me losing both goods and money."
"I will look into the evaluation team again, Alpha. I will personally look at the process and report the results back to you. Please calm down and also.... Your father is requesting you for dinner tonight. He also invited your fiancée, Charlotte as well."
I clenched my jaw, hating how my father, the Alpha King, tries to play family with me when we are far apart from that.
I gestured my two fingers in the air as a signal for him to leave me alone if he was done with his report, taking another drag of my smoke.
"There is something else, it's about that person, Alpha."
My heart begins to race involuntarily, something I cannot always control even if I wanted to.
"What about him?"
"He is going to open the Hall of Vintage Collections today and he is launching a new collection of handmade suits and shoes. Also, tonight his grandmother is finally going to name him the next CEO of Emerald Enterprise. I made reservations at their finest seats for you there, Alpha."
I take the red envelope and pull out the golden tickets.
"You should go and cheer for him, Alpha."
"As always," I chuckle sadly, rubbing my thumb over the name Jaylene Nakul in italics. That is exactly what I have been doing for the past twelve years and two months.
Watching my fated mate from afar because of the old ways and the prophecy of the Moon Goddess.
A prophecy which is given to every born of the Moon Valley Pack when they bloom and receive their wolf form from the Moonlight.
Mine wasn't just a prophecy, it's a harsh punishment I don't deserve.
With just a simple one line of sentence in a large scroll.
[Du wirst deinen Partner treffen und du wirst dich ihm nicht nähern, weil du sein Verhängnis bist.
You will meet your mate and you will not go close to him because you are his doom.]
I couldn't believe my eyes that day and I will never forget how everyone in that council room looked at me with pity.
Tch
And I have been doing just that, staying away from Jaylene.
"Send him a bouquet of pink orchids," I pressed my unfinished cigarette on the ash tray, "Those are his favorite flowers, he will smile at it," The corner of my lips curves at the thought of the image.
I was only 13 years old when I realized that Jaylene was my fated mate and he was only 9 years old.
I have been watching him ever since then, through every season, through every single stage of his life.
I know everything about him but... I'm just a stranger he never noticed, not even once.
"Why are you not going there yourself, Alpha? You are always around him, watching him from afar. You are always in the crowd supporting him even if he never notices you, you have saved his life so many times I could count, you always protect him even when he is not watching... Are you still angry that he started dating again?"
I glared at Elias warningly.
He lowers his head and clears his throat, "You are just angry because a few days ago while you were stalking him you saw him kissing his new boyfriend and now..."
"Enough, Elias!"
"I'm sorry, Alpha."
I let out a deep sigh, shutting my eyes.
Do I deserve to be angry or jealous?
I don't know, I don't care.
I walk back into the penthouse living room, taking off my bathrobes, "Send the flowers and a congratulatory card for his new position, make sure to buy off every vintage suit, shirts and shoes he is putting on sale today."
"As you wish, Alpha."
Jaylene
"We will arrive in three minutes, young master," Peterson, the family driver, announces.
I didn't open my eyes as I nodded.
My secretary, Laura. Her voice is shaky with excitement, "Sir, you need to look at this."
"What is it?" I take the tablet from her, my eyes shining bright as the online orders are already sold out within a few minutes.
"Sir, this is good news for you," Laura is smiling happily, "When the hall is open in a few hours, for sure everything will also be sold out and you will make it to the business page tomorrow."
I'm beaming with happiness at the thought.
This is a huge step forward for me and I know my grandmother will be proud of me.
"I heard that Cain hasn't sold even a piece online yet," Laura picks on my elder brother, mocking him, "I don't know why he bothers to compete with you. You are better than him in so many ways that is why grandmother is going to name you the CEO tonight. Young master, you need to be happy and carry yourself with more confidence."
I bob my head, agreeing with her as I raised my shoulders.
Nobody deserves to become the CEO of Emerald Enterprise like me.
Not even Cain, who thinks that it is his birth right.
I have been working day and night. Long hours, investing more time to make sure the company is stable at the top class of San Zero. Making my own name, creating my own design.
While all he does is sleep and wake up at the casino, gamble, womanize and spend money at the most unprofitable things.
Even my grandmother acknowledges my effort and rewards me for it each time.
And without a doubt she knows I'm more deserving than my brother.
Laura swipes to the next slides, showing the lists of investors and how the company charts are rising for the past few hours.
"A few hours ago, your grandmother had a meeting with the board members and for sure she has told them her decision to make you the CEO and all of them have invested in your stock market and will support the Hall of Vintage Collections."
"That is good enough, my hard work is finally paying off."
"Young master, we are here," Peterson announces again.
"Thank you," I open the door of my car and button up my favorite grey two piece suit.
I noticed Cain leaning on his car, smoking.
It looks like he has been waiting for me to come.
"I will call the security guards, Sir," Laura cautioned, afraid to see Cain in my private garage.
She already knows his appearance means trouble.
"Look who we have here," Cain chuckles and stumps his cigarette under his shoes as he takes a few steps towards Laura. He leans forward and strokes her face with his fingers, "Your skin is smooth and soft."
Laura takes a step backwards but Cain grabs the collar of her shirt, pulling her closer to himself, "Why are you acting like you don't like my touch? Do you know how many ladies spread their legs for me in a day? At night?"
I grabbed his wrist, yanking it off Laura as I stepped in between them, "Why are you harassing my secretary, Cain? What are you high on this time?"
Cain scoffs, "Didn't that bitch tell you how many times I called your phone?"
"I couldn't care less, what do you want from me?" I look at the watch around my wrist, "I don't have your time so hurry up and get out of my way."
Cain burst out laughing, clapping and pointing his finger at me.
I clenched my fist, anger rising inside me.
"What are you laughing at, you maniac!"
He holds his chest, waving at me, "I will stop now, I will stop now. I forgot how busy you are and how tonight is all about you."
"I don't need your congratulations, save it for yourself."
"Don't be so naive, you know that is not happening. You are nothing but an homosexual who let's another man fucks him in the ass and..."
I don't let Cain finish his sentence as I punch him across the face, "Watch your fucking mouth, you drug head!"
He stumbles backwards, wiping off blood from the corner of his lips as he gives me a stern look.
I look around briefly, except Peterson and Laura, hoping no one else heard him. If my grandmother ever knows my preference... if she ever knows that I lay with men or... I'm gay or know that I have a boyfriend.
I will loose... I will loose every fucking thing I have worked so hard for.
My grandmother is all loving to me but that is where she draws the line.
And no one has been gay throughout my family lineage and I can't be the one who is openly the first, at least until I become the CEO and everything will be in my power and I will come out to my grandmother.
I will introduce my boyfriend, Lucas, to her and tell her he is the man I wish to spend the rest of my life with.
"Why are you heated up? Are you afraid that our grandmother will know your secrets?"
"I'm warning you, Cain! Don't push me!"
"Or else what? Convince our grandmother to send me to some mental hospital abroad! Was that your idea?"
I rolled my eyes, scoffing, "I don't care what plans grandmother has for you or where you go. I don't have the time to gossip about you with grandma when I have business to talk about. I'm warning you, don't ever mention what you said earlier in front of me again! Do you understand me?"
"Did I strike a nerve? You know I'm not lying and I'm going to prove it to everyone if you do not tell our grandmother that you won't be the CEO! C'mon tell her that you don't deserve to be the CEO and that I deserve it more. Jaylene you and I know that this is my birthright! You know that if father and mother were here, if you didn't kill them! I will be in control of this position and not watch you play favorite grandson to our grandmother."
"Are you threatening me, Cain? I can see that you are tired of walking a free man because all I have to do is make just one phone call and I will get you arrested and locked away, don't push me while I'm still being nice to you," I spit to the side and walk out of him!
What the fuck!
Jesus!
I'm so fucking pissed off!
How on earth did I have a brother like him!
I killed our parents, my foot!
Jaylene
"Your grandmother is upstairs, go ahead," Laura points at the VIP lounge upstairs where my grandmother sat with a glass of martini.
I walked through the crowd, bowing and smiling at the cameras flashing at me.
People smile at me as they all bow their heads and greet me.
I wave at them as I hurry upstairs to meet my grandmother.
"Look at you," My grandmother acknowledges me gruffly.
I lean forward and kiss her on both cheeks.
She drapes my suits, "You look good, Jay."
I kneel on one knee beside her, taking her hand into mine as I kiss the back of it.
"You look so good too, grandma, always," I tell her honestly, taking her in. She swears a beautiful tailored jacket, embroidered with intricate patterns. Her hair is impeccably tied in a neat polished bob.
"How are you enjoying the party? I made it to be the biggest ball party of the year."
My grandmother combs my hair through her fingers carefully as she sighs contentedly, "Come, take a seat beside me, don't kneel."
I bow to her and took a seat, having a good view of the party downstairs.
The crowd is quite large even though I made the ticket only available to only the highest class of people in our city.
"I'm relieved that you are now old enough to handle these responsibilities," My grandmother takes out a stick of cigarettes from her wallet. She searches her pocket for her lighter and doesn't find one.
I always carry one on me because of her even though I do not smoke.
I light it up for her as she takes a drag, watching as everyone is coupling to have a dance together.
"I'm sending your brother abroad whether he likes it or not. Even if it's the last I do before I retire."
"Grandma, you still smoke when you know your health is bad enough. Not cool," I try to remind her about what the doctor said about her health but she doesn't listen.
"What do you want an old lonely woman like me to do?"
"Don't stress about Cain anymore, grandma. He is never going to change."
"I know that he resents me and he doesn't hide it. That is why I have decided to put him on the family will. Initially, I wanted to give everything to you, including Emerald Enterprise."
I held my breath, my chest heavy as I crossed my fingers where she didn't see.
"I have decided to split everything between you two, although not equally as I want you to personally run the Enterprise. Your brother is a bloody junky with betting and gambling addiction. Who knows, he might wake up one day and decide to use your parents' company and money for his own gambling business. I can't allow that and I can't bear to see your parents' hard work of all these years fall into nothing."
"I understand, grandma. I'm grateful for your trust and I won't let you down."
"I know," She pressed her lips in a thin smile, "I will give the Emerald Hotel and Resort to Cain. I hope you don't mind that as well," She continues causally, exhaling her smoke slowly, her expression tight and unreadable.
Giving the Emerald Hotel and Resort to Cain is giving him more money to buy more drugs. The monthly revenues alone are millions, I don't want to add up what it produces annually.
I don't argue because I don't want to sound selfish.
"You are very generous, grandma. I'm sure he will appreciate you."
"I hope so too, the family lawyer is already here. I will sign the will after the party."
I lowered my head with gratitude, "Thank you very much grandma."
She smiles at me, getting up as it was time for her announcement.
I held her hands, helping her downstairs.
I stand on the podium besides her as she clears her throat on the microphone, testing it.
The crowd murmured respectfully, giving her all the attention as she began speaking.
At the same time the large screen behind us begins to display the growth of Emerald Enterprise along the way. How the company started at the first scrawny building my grandfather had brought downstreet.
And how my father took over, moving the company forward to a worldwide scale until he was no more and my grandmother has been taking care of it since then.
Now it's going to be my turn.
Tomorrow every newspaper, every news outlet, every article will carry my name and face.
After tonight, I will be crowned the youngest business man alive. I will be crowned the creative designer of the year and the beginning of a new era for the future of San Zero.
However, the screen instantly goes blank, the light in the hall goes off.
"What is happening," I curse under my breath.
I paid the workers more than enough to make sure tonight goes smoothly!
The light can't be going off when my grandmother is speaking and when she is about to announce me as the heir!
I took out my phone, using the torchlight!
I yelled at Laura, who is clutching her tablet tightly, also wondering what is happening, "What the fuck is going on? Call the technical team and fix this shit at once!"
Meanwhile, the light on the screen suddenly returns, accompanied with a moaning voice.
And the voice belongs to no one else but mine... it's me.
I'm moaning lewdly, on top of Lucas, our naked bodies pressed together as I ride him, pounding on his cock, my ass slapping against his hips.
"Please, harder... harder, nngh, harder Lucas, fuck me please."
"C'mon move your hips," Lucas pressed wet kisses on the nape of my neck, thrusting into me in a steady rhythm.
Jesus!
"Jay..." My grandmother stares at the screen, mouth agape, "What is this...?"
"Grandma..." My chest is tight, I can't breathe, "Grandma... it's not what you are thinking."
Slap!
My face pitched to the side as a hard slap landed across my right cheek.
Tears well to my eyes as my grandmother has never raised her hand to hit me before, not even once.
"Grandma... please...?" My eyes suddenly broadened as she gripped her chest, and her legs instantly gave out, "Grandma!"
I ran towards her, holding her in my arms before her body could hit the floor.
Oh no, God, please!
"Grandma, please," I immediately dial the emergency number.
The camera flashes increases blindingly in my face, the volume of my moans increasing in the hall.
The video is playing on loops.
"Sir," Laura kneels beside me with tears filled eyes, "I couldn't stop the video, I'm sorry! Someone hacked into us from somewhere!"
I don't believe this.... I don't!
This is all a dream!
I always keep my business clean! Every time I lodge in a hotel with Lucas I always have Peterson run a pinhole camera check before I go in.
I always pay extra to the manager to keep their mouth shut.
And Lucas always comes into the room disguised. He does this to help me, to keep our relationship private.
There was nowhere there was a camera in that room.... This was four days ago when we just celebrated our one year anniversary.
"Sir, please hold yourself together," Laura tries to comfort me as the ambulance arrives.
The nurses and the doctor immediately pulled my grandmother on the stretcher and pushed her out of the hall.
Peterson immediately arrives, holding my hands, "Let me help you out, younger master."
"Where can we go?" Laura weeps bitterly, "There are reporters everywhere and all the doors are blocked!"
"The back door," Peterson doesn't hesitate, he pushes me through the crowd, covering my face with his palm as he protects me at the same time.
But I couldn't block my ears from the questions being thrown at me.
[Mr Jaylene, did you kill your grandmother so you can become the CEO?]
[Sir, tell us. Are you gay?]
[Mr Jaylene, are you trying to steal Mr Cain's birthright by publicly killing your grandmother?"]
[Mr Jaylene, did you orchestrate all these to become the CEO? This is a sign of desperation and extreme measures.]
[Did you plan to marry a man to end the Nakul family legacy? To bring the Emerald Enterprise into bankruptcy? Are you homosexual?]
[Sir, please, tell us. Is it true that you killed your parents? Did you also give them a heart attack?"]
"Fuck you!" I cursed at them, trying to kick anyone that comes close to me but Peterson grabs me and pushes me out of the back door.
He instantly turns around and locks it.
