Rebirth Of The God Of War

Author: : Chilton Bunton
Genre: Adventure
The moralities and laws were all destroyed since the apocalypse came. During this time, even Hollywood celebrities, superstars, and supermodels were willing to spend a night with anyone in bed in exchange for a piece of bread. This was how horrible the situation was. But the good thing was, there were no constraints. You could do whatever you want. However, a world without order was hell. Human beings struggled to survive hunger and attacks of ferocious monsters every day. At night, I had to sleep with rotten corpses just to keep myself safe. During the day, I fought with monsters just to get a piece of cheap bread. I lived in this cruel world for twenty years, full of fear. And my agony only stopped when I was torn into pieces by a monster. Instead of feeling bad, I was even relieved. Finally, everything was over. However, I was wrong. My life didn't end there. I was able to open my eyes again, only to be shocked to find that I was in a peaceful university I went to twenty years ago. No more foul smell of blood, no rotten bodies, and no ferocious monsters. I could breathe fresh air and see energetic young men and women in front of me. Wasn't it incredible? I was joyful and excited. I didn't actually die. I was reborn and went back to the time a month before the apocalypse. Now that I was reborn, I must enjoy a month of peace and comfort. I couldn't let myself fall into despair again, so I had to be well-prepared. As a result, I didn't hesitate even to commit a crime. I found a man from a wealthy family who was about to become a supervillain. I pushed him off the cliff, took his wealth, and used it to everything I needed to set up my own base. This time, I would become the savior of mankind.

Chapter 1 Awaken

Sheffield University, Nova City

"Ah!"

A student woke up, screaming. His deafening scream shattered the tranquility of the class. All the students were so shocked that they turned to look in the direction of the sound.

The one who screamed was a young man in his early twenties. He looked spruce in his short haircut and clean and tidy clothes.

"Calvin Hanson, what is going on with you? Have you lost your mind?" snapped a beautiful woman with delicate features. She stood on the platform, holding a laser pointer in her hand.

Calvin stopped shouting, but his eyes were wide open. Panting violently, he looked desperate and confused at the same time.

He looked around and found that he was in a classroom. Everything around him was clean. The windows, the sunlight, the people, the clothes, and the faces he saw were all clean. He felt like it was too good to be true.

'What happened? How is this possible? And where am I?'

If he was in the time before the apocalypse, such a scene was, of course, normal. But it had been twenty years since the apocalypse fell. 'Am I in heaven? Or is it just a beautiful dream?'

"Calvin Hanson!"

The teacher's voice sounded again. But this time, she was no longer standing on the platform. She marched toward Calvin in a fit of pique, her heels clacking across the marble floor.

'Oh, I'm Calvin. But what happened to me? I'm dead, right? That monster tore me apart. Where am I now?'

Calvin's mind was still in a mess. The huge contrast between reality and memory made him totally confused.

"If you don't want to listen in my class, go out! Get out! Now!"

The teacher's face turned red with rage when Calvin just ignored her. She angrily raised her slender finger and was about to poke his forehead.

Calvin's eyes suddenly changed when he saw the finger coming. The confusion in his eyes was replaced by sharp alertness. He neatly sidestepped and dodged it easily.

"Ah!" the teacher screamed as her finger poked in the air, making her body lean forward involuntarily and almost hit the desk.

The classroom was in an uproar, and the fat man sitting next to Calvin looked at him with eyes widened in shock.

"Damn it!"

The fat man was actually busy writing when it happened. His hand shook, and the pen in his hand pierced through his finger. Blood oozed out from the wound.

Calvin's body suddenly trembled when he saw the blood. His eyes became clear, and his mind was lucid and sane. He finally came back to his senses.

"Let go of me, you bastard!"

The teacher screamed in pain, trying to yank free from his grip. She obviously didn't expect such a thing to happen.

Calvin felt his mind churn as the memories long been buried rushed out from the bottom of his heart and gradually overlapped with reality.

The classroom, the desks, the teacher... He remembered them now. He was in Sheffield University.

"Bastard, how dare you?"

"Miss Gray?" Calvin finally remembered who the teacher was, and he stepped back with a frown.

Fiona Gray raised her hand and slapped him. "Bastard!"

But her hand didn't even touch his face. He reached out and grabbed her wrist.

"Damn it! Go with me to the principal's office now!" Fiona cried out angrily. She struggled hard but failed to break free from Calvin's grip.

The students began to make noise, and their voices got louder and louder. Some even jeered and whistled from time to time. They kept calling Calvin's name, especially the male students who were rooting for him. They had half a mind to applaud him.

For these college students, what they saw was a good show.

However, Calvin didn't pay attention to everything around him, let alone listen to what others were saying. With a straight face, he focused his attention on the watch on Fiona's wrist.

It was 9:21 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2022.

This was the university Calvin had gone to twenty years ago.

'This is not an illusion. Does it mean I travel back in time?' Calvin took a deep breath. 'Yes, I'm back!'

But he was already dead. How could he come back to life? And he even went back to twenty years ago.

Calvin checked his body. His limbs were complete, and there was no big hole in his heart. The monster had tortured him to pieces and dug out his heart before. But now, he was totally alive and clearly felt that there was no injury in any part of his body. There were no scars at all.

But didn't it only make sense? How could he have any scars twenty years ago?

At that time, the apocalypse hadn't come yet.

Whether he was reborn or what, it didn't matter now. The most important thing was that he was alive. Whatever the reason was, he didn't want to find out any more. Everything in front of him was not an illusion. He was really alive.

Being alive now and in the future was obviously the most important thing.

The twenty years of struggling to survive had already forged Calvin's body and mind as hard as iron. He quickly calmed down. There were still twenty-seven days left before the apocalypse.

The earth would be facing a devastating disaster, and all civilizations and technology would be destroyed. Humans would become the most miserable species in this disaster.

Calvin's brain began to spin rapidly. He kept calculating something in his mind. In just two minutes, he was able to form a preliminary plan.

"Calvin, let go of me!"

Fiona's scream jarred him back to the present. Calvin looked down and saw that the color of her hand had changed because of bad blood circulation. He loosened his grip silently. Then, he turned around and walked towards the door.

Fiona kneaded her sore wrist, staring blankly at Calvin's receding back. For a moment, she couldn't seem to understand what had just happened.

In her two years of teaching experience, she had never encountered such a thing or a student.

However, she quickly came back to her senses and rushed to the door. She called out behind Calvin, who had already stepped out of the classroom. "Damn it, Calvin! Stop! What do you think you're doing? Do you really want to be expelled from this school?"

"Expel?" Calvin stopped, turned around, and glanced at Fiona with a faint smile. "Fine! Expel me then."

Fiona was startled, not by his words but by the glance Calvin gave her.

His glance was full of complex emotions. It seemed like he had been through a lot of terrible things, and he felt a deep pity for others.

What was going on with him? Calvin was just a college student. How could such a look appear in his eyes? And what was the pity about?

Actually, women, especially beautiful women, lived a miserable life during the apocalypse.

But of course, Fiona didn't know about it. When she came back to her senses, Calvin's figure had already disappeared.

There were only twenty-seven days left before the apocalypse came.

Chapter 2 Robbery

For a student, being expelled from school was undoubtedly a serious matter. But for Calvin, it was nothing at all. After all, when the apocalypse came, everything would be worthless. He wouldn't need a diploma by then. Besides, he was no longer a student a long time ago.

At this moment, Calvin was full of plans for the future, including avenging himself and getting some money.

Of course, the first thing was avenging himself. He always had this regret and obsession in his heart.

A few years ago, his parents died in a car accident, and he was seriously injured. He saw the murderer's face with his own eyes. But his testimony was dismissed by the jury for various reasons, so the murderer was released from prison.

Some of the reasons included were that he was a minor, he had a concussion during the accident and had been unconscious, so he might just have mental hallucinations, and so on.

Calvin would never forget the name of his enemy, Danilo Loftus, a typical playboy.

In his previous life, whether it was in the civilized era or in the apocalypse, Calvin had no chance to take revenge. So it had become his obsession. And now that he was back, the first thing that came to his mind was to take revenge.

Danilo killed his parents. If he didn't avenge them, what kind of a son was he?

The second thing was that he needed money. He had to obtain lots of money in the shortest possible time because it was the most essential element of his plan.

After the apocalypse came, money would become worthless. The printed bills would only be waste paper and could only be used in making fire. But now that the apocalypse hadn't come yet, a large amount of money could come in handy. With this, he could buy resources.

Possessing many resources would undoubtedly be a huge advantage in the apocalypse. Calvin knew this better than anyone else.

After leaving the vaguely familiar classroom, Calvin decided to go to the dormitory to get some things. But unexpectedly, he was stopped by three people on the way back to the dormitory.

"Well, isn't this Calvin? Why aren't you having class as usual?" one of them asked.

He was disheveled. Only two buttons on his shirt were fastened, and a tattoo on his chest was partially exposed. Only half of his shirttail was tucked into his trouser.

Calvin frowned when he saw that they were looking at him maliciously. No matter how hard he racked his brains, he really couldn't remember who they were. "Who are you? What do you want from me?"

"Who are we?" one of them shouted in a slow drawl. He was obviously dissatisfied with what he heard. "What the fuck are you talking about? I am Keith. How dare you say you don't know me! Have you forgotten? Do you look down on me? Are you fucking out of your mind?"

'Keith... Keith Turner!'

When Calvin heard the name Keith, his eyes lit up and a memory popped up in his mind. Right, this guy's name was Keith.

Keith was an empty-headed thug who dropped out of school early and hung out with some disreputable people in society. He was a typical gangster.

"Fuck! Come with us to the rooftop. Hurry! Don't you dare say no to us!" Each of the three took out a stick.

At this time, more and more memories flooded back to Calvin's mind, and his face grew colder and colder. Keith was a well-known bully in the neighborhood. He bullied the weak and feared the strong. Even Calvin was robbed by Keith several times. It was such a coincidence that they met here.

If this was twenty years ago, Calvin would have been frightened to death at the moment. But he was different now. He had been through too many dangers in apocalypse. These three men were nothing compared to the beasts he had fought with.

Calvin didn't say anything when the three men surrounded him. He just followed them to the rooftop meekly.

Bang!

Keith kicked the iron door with one foot to close it and shook his hair. He took a deep breath and said, "We have dealt with each other once or twice, so I don't want to waste more time on you. We have been a little short of money recently, and we want to borrow some from you. Give me five thousand bucks, and I'll pretend that nothing has happened just now."

"What makes you think I have five thousand dollars?" Calvin asked.

"Don't play dumb with me. I know you have a student loan. Besides, everyone in your school has bank cards. Withdraw the money and give it to me. Fuck! Do you think I'm an idiot and don't know these things? Withdraw the money obediently. If you need to go to the bank, we can go with you. If you refuse us..."

Calvin looked at Keith calmly without any trace of fear at all. "I don't have any money, but I have a life. I don't know if you dare to take it."

"Wow!" Keith stretched out his neck and looked at Calvin up and down. "I haven't seen you for a few days. You've really grown up, haven't you? Have you learned some martial arts? Or maybe you have taken some elixirs and become a martial artist. You think you can beat the three of us alone, right?"

"If you leave now, I can pretend that nothing happened," Calvin warned with narrowed eyes. He tried his best to restrain his anger because he still had a lot of things to do. He really didn't want to waste time on these people.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. What the fuck are you talking about? Do you really think you are somebody now? Who do you think you are to tell me what to do?"

"Keith, don't try to pick a fight with me. You will regret it," Calvin said coldly.

"Ha-ha!" Keith suddenly burst into laughter and pointed at Calvin. "What did you just say? Do you think you can beat me in a fight?"

The other two also laughed in unison. Then, one of them said, "Keith, this guy obviously looks down on you. We should teach him a lesson today."

Keith leaned forward, pointed at his own face, and said, "Come on, hit me right here! Bring it on. Don't go easy on me."

Calvin thought that he was such an idiot.

Chapter 3 Thai Boxing

Calvin cursed. He clenched his fist before he spun around by pivoting on his heel and landed a roundhouse kick on Keith's cheek.

Keith tried to dodge the attack, but Calvin's foot landed on his cheek before he could even react, causing him to fall to the floor.

Bang!

Keith wailed and writhed on the floor in pain. He spat out two teeth, as well as a mouthful of blood.

Calvin scoffed and narrowed his eyes at Keith, wondering what he would do next.

On the other hand, Keith felt as if he had just been hit in the head by a hammer. The whole world was spinning before his eyes, making him feel nauseated.

"Goddamn it! Let's beat the shit out of him!" Keith got up from the floor and let out an angry shout before sprinting towards Calvin.

Meanwhile, the two other men looked at each other for a few seconds. That was when they reached a silent agreement and closed in on Calvin from two sides, attempting to trap him.

Calvin fought the urge to groan. He didn't want to deal with people like Keith because he had just woken up, and his body wasn't as strong as in the apocalypse. Otherwise, his kick would've easily shattered Keith's skull and killed him on the spot.

But even though that was the case, he had extensive experience when it came to combat. That was why even though he knew that he was at an absolute disadvantage, he was also more than certain that Keith and the others wouldn't be able to hold him in place for that long.

Calvin had a chance to learn some skills in Thai boxing.

This was the right time for those skills to come in handy. After all, he was aware that normal people like Keith wouldn't be able to withstand them even if they tried.

Thus, all three men ended up lying on the floor, wailing in pain as they struggled to get up. Their battle only lasted for less than two minutes.

"Please spare me!" Keith pleaded. He forced himself to get up and kneel on the floor despite the unbearable pain that he felt throughout his body. He was no longer arrogant and even begged Calvin for mercy.

"Spare you?" Calvin grimaced and crossed his arms. "I asked you to leave, but you didn't want to. And now you're having second thoughts about it? Don't you think it's too late for that?"

Keith gulped as he felt his body tremble in fear. He knew that Calvin was just going to keep beating him up if he didn't do anything, so he did the only thing that came to mind. He slapped his face as hard as he could and apologized over and over again.

"We have money!" Keith pulled out a wallet from his pocket. He took out all of his money and forced his two companions to do the same even though they were in agonizing pain. Then, he cupped all the money in his hands and showed them to Calvin. "This is all of our money. I know it's not much, but this is all we have."

Since there were still 27 days before the apocalypse, Calvin knew he couldn't kill them. After all, the social order hadn't collapsed yet, and the world was still restricted by law, so dealing with them would just be a waste of time. If he got caught by the security guards, he wouldn't have any way to carry out his plan.

Not to mention, he was still weak. Diving head-first into trouble would only get him into a predicament, so he believed it would be better for him to keep a low profile.

If this was the apocalypse, any normal person who would dare to set foot in front of him would be digging their own grave, especially if they were looking for a fight.

Calvin narrowed his eyes at Keith as he thought about that, forcing himself to calm down. He eventually reached out for the money and counted it. The amount was approximately $3, 000.

"Put your hands behind your back and press your forehead on the floor. Stay like that for exactly thirty minutes. After that, all of you can leave the rooftop. And if any one of you disobeys, I won't hesitate to slit your throat," Calvin ordered, emphasizing his point by swiftly sliding his index finger against his neck.

Keith and his friends immediately bobbed their heads and did exactly what Calvin instructed them to do.

Calvin slowly walked down the rooftop and put the money in his pocket. But as soon as he passed through the gate, he took a deep breath and heaved a sigh, rubbing his sore limbs in the process.

'This body is so frail. I should probably find a way to improve it as soon as possible. Or else...' Calvin thought with a worried look.
