In "A Night with a Reaper," a girl seeks love beyond the ordinary, entwining her fate with the grim reaper. Together, she will navigate a world where passion and darkness collide, finding the man of her life despite of the unordinary.

Chapter 1 1

During the time that the bloody liquid was shimmering brightly in the moonlight, the air was filled with the pungent odor of blood.

A half dozen people had passed away in the blink of an eye, their bodies lying on the warm asphalt, bleeding out at the same time. As soon as the four young grim reapers arrived on the scene, the murmur that was going about was dull, and the shouts for assistance were being ignored.

"Couldn't they have died after dinner?" Mateo let out a groan as he hauled his feet in the direction of the dead bodies.

It was Hudson who struck the back of the skull of the younger one.

He reprimanded subtly, "Have a little respect towards the dead," but it seemed as though he didn't care much about himself. "Have some respect for the dead."

Mateo remained still and observed as David bent down in front of the lifeless body of a young woman. He rolled his eyes and remained silent because he was way too lethargic to respond and dispute with the elder one.

"Let's just get to work," the youngest one ordered, cocking his head to the side as he examined the body itself as well as the soul that was contained within it. This is for Hudson, by the way. Bring the child to me, Jonas. The remainder will be taken care of by Mateo and I.

"But why do I have to take two?" Mateo began to complain, his gaze fixed on his best friend, who looked at the older person with a bored expression on his face.

"Because you keep complaining." David grabbed his hands and removed them from his pants as he struggled to stand up. "You act as if you were the one that died in a car crash."

While the boy was being reprimanded, that was intended to be a joke at the same time.

Mateo, on the other hand, rolled his eyes before he went to work as he had been instructed.

They were so preoccupied with what they were doing and did not anticipate that anyone would be watching their movements that they failed to see the pair of eyes that remained on them while they were working.

The girl went unnoticed by anyone. When she was among the throng, she was nearly unnoticeable. There was nothing that helped her stand out; there was nothing that made her appear to be more than a footnote.

Her head was slightly cocked to the side as she examined the boys, which was a distinct departure from the behavior of everyone else.

Due to the fact that no one else could see them, the onlookers were nothing more than ordinary humans who were limited to viewing this gaping hole in the globe.

Another thing to consider is that there were only two people who were known to be able to recognize the men of death. More specifically, "Easton, Jace!" Jonas spoke out as soon as he recognized the two young boys among the crowd of people.

As they made their way across the campus of the university, it did not take them long to capture the attention of virtually every student who was walking by.

Despite the fact that it was not rare to come into any of the four grim reapers in this location, a significant number of students couldn't help but watch them with a sense of apprehension and a certain yearning as they passed by.

Easton inquired, "Are your classes over?" once they had gotten near enough to one another. Jonas indicated with a nod.

It was an early end to our lecture. Where do you stand? Have you all made preparations to leave? As he repeated the question again, he was on the verge of turning on his heel when Mateo suddenly materialized next to them out of thin air.

The conversation was cut off by his response, "No," as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his pants.

"David's got a soul to take to hell."

The soul that was still inside its body at the time, which had already stopped bleeding out, had skin that was unhealthily pale, and eyes that were wide open as it stared at the wall that it was facing.

Even in the bright daylight that beamed down upon him, the dead guy was not noticed by anyone. He was leaning against a dumpster at the end of a short lane that was not being used.

People strolled passed and engaged in joyful conversation. The body went unnoticed by everyone. Not a single person batted an eye.

Two individuals are the only ones present.

David was standing at the entrance of the alley, and his expression was one of boredom as he gazed inside. He arched an eyebrow at the girl who appeared to be unimpressed as she stood there looking down at the dead body that was in front of her feet.

It was possible for him to pick up on her low humming sound before she cocked her head to the side and let out a flat breath.

"An ugly death for an ugly soul," Chloe remarked in a hushed voice. "Quite fitting."

The young man's forehead was rubbed by Chloe.

"Yah!" Haechen yelled, his eyes flashing open in surprise. Rubbing the heel of his hand against his forehead in a calming manner, he did so with a frown on his face. "What a brat."

Chloe said, "You are the one that fell asleep - you are supposed to tutor me," before tapping her pen against the monotonous blue lunch table. "You are supposed to be the one who tutors me."

The tables were positioned around the back of the building that housed their professors. Each and every other faculty's outdoor lunch space was designed and laid out in the same manner as this one.

Today was a very warm day. The students were illuminated by the sun, and when its rays encircled Jonas, who was the embodiment of death, he appeared to be even more brilliant than the sun itself.

A sleepy nod was given by the young child, who then rested his chin in the palm of his hand. "Okay, but I told you to get food."

Chapter 2 2

A frown was raised by Chloe.

"You don't eat," she observed in a matter-of-fact manner.

"You do, though."

"Well," she shrugged her shoulders. "Not right now."

A sigh was already sitting on the edge of his throat, and he was already rolling his eyes. Jonas was unable to finish his sentence since the girl was abruptly confronted by a meal tray belonging to another person.

When Chloe turned her head to the side, she noticed a boy who was sitting next to her from somewhere else.

"Hudson," she exclaimed with a grin on her face, expressing her joy. In light of the fact that his faculty was not located on this side of the school, she questioned, "What are you doing here?"

"Getting you food." On the tray, he indicated with a nod. "I heard you didn't have breakfast."

A slight frown appeared on Chloe's face. "Did Franz snitch on me again?"

The young lady was being observed by Hudson, who gave a shrug and hummed to himself. During his examination of her, his eyes briefly traveled over her body. "Eating is essential for human beings," he stated.

She was aware that he was correct, despite the fact that she hesitated. Following the release of a deep and genuine sigh, she then began to consume food.

During the brief and humorous talk that Hudson and Jonas had, the girl became engrossed in the conversation. During her attentive listening, she carefully followed what they had to say.

Chloe's eyes did not contact the eyes of the other lads until they eventually sat down next to them. She had overlooked the fact that the four boys were approaching their table since she was sitting too early.

Hudson said, "You took your time," as he gazed at his buddies. "I admire your patience."

Mateo responded in a playful manner, "We would have been faster if it weren't for those two," while casting an almost judgmental glance at Easton and Jace. They hardly reacted, simply rolling their eyes and delivering a slight smile that was amused.

The younger one's focus rapidly turned to the girl he had not yet been introduced to, and this occurred not long after the previous one. He wore a grin on his face and boldly raised his chin up. It's me, Mateo. "That is Easton, Jace, and David," he gleefully informed me. It is a pleasure to meet you.

She gently responded, "Chloe," but she was taken aback by the boy's vivacious personality. "Why did you come here?"

Easton gave Jonas a signal with a nod.

"He usually comes to sit with us, but he said he was busy today, so we came here instead."

While he was heaving a sigh, Jonas leaned forward and placed his head on his arm.

It was said that he was busy tutoring Chloe, and if he hadn't fallen asleep ten minutes after they sat down at their table, he would have been busy teaching Chloe as well. In spite of this, Jonas was exhausted, so he took advantage of this opportunity to get some rest and go further away from the other grim reapers on the scene.

"I can never get a break, can I?" The crook of his arm was where he whispered something.

"Not really," Hudson remarked in a semi-serious manner. "Sucks to be you."

The younger one murmured, "I hate you too, Hudson," the older one said.

Even though everyone else was concentrating on Jonas, David couldn't take his eyes off of the girl.

She was sitting in a comfortable position in the warm sun, and her eyes were sparkling with beauty. Her eyelashes cast beautiful shadows upon her cheeks, and her hair was still on her shoulders.

Before he spoke, he was unaware that the image was aggravating to him for some reason.

"You were in that alley the other day," he stated in response. The tone of his voice was severe, but it was difficult to determine what emotion he was expressing.

Chloe raised her eyebrows and moved her head to gaze at the lad. She then hummed in a contemplative manner.

"'The other day' is an inclusive term."

"You saw me there," he said, attempting to convince her to recall or admit that she had seen him there.

The head was shaken by Chloe. In spite of this, she did, in fact, see him there.

"I don't remember seeing you in an alley lately," she lied in a calm manner on the subject. "I also didn't know that's where you like to spend your time off."

David stifled his rage by clenching his jaw and swallowing it.

"Are you under the impression that you can deceive me? Do you not have any idea who I am?

Chloe paused for a moment before slowly nodding her. She indicated Mateo with her finger. "David," she said in response. "Mateo just introduced you."

"If we weren't at university, you'd be dead by now," the young lad whispered in a low voice that was loaded with a sense of threat. The tint of his eyes changed to a dark gray, and they immediately became dead. Intense and threatening in nature.

She was thinking, "What a terrible temper."

In the event that Chloe was unaware of the boy's boundaries, she would have been terrified. Indeed, it is possible that she would have walked away from the table at that very instant, given the chilliness that the grim reaper exuded and the warm, uneasy sensation that was rising up inside of her.

However, she did not. On the whole, she didn't care.

She made an honest offer, "Then let's meet in an alley the next time," and she meant it. "Show me what you got, grim reaper."

"If he beats me up, will you help me out?" With straw caught between her teeth, Chloe inquired with a quizzical expression.

In the meantime, she sipped her coffee and observed Hudson, who appeared to be undecided. It was a hum.

After giving a sincere response, he turned his head just as Chloe's face became slightly frowning. "I might try to sell tickets to the fight," he said.

Chapter 3 3

"To be able to pay for your hospital expenses, you idiot."

With a firm push on her head, he placed his finger on her forehead and forced her head back. However, it caused her to smile.

She turned her back once more and continued to drink the refreshing beverage. "I knew you had my back."

"Just don't get on his bad side." Although it was merely stated with a halfhearted effort, it was a warning.

As she gazed forward, she raised her brow and cast her gaze past the individuals who were standing in front of her until her eyes found their way to the front of the bus.

She continued to focus her attention on the street in front of her while she listened to the youngster talk.

The question that she posed was, "Why do you make this sound so serious?"

Since it is the case. He made a quick statement, "David is not just a random grim reaper," while carefully observing Chloe, who appeared unimpressed by his revelation.

"What is it? Perhaps he is your boss or anything else? There was a nod from Hudson. "Isn't he a kid still?"

It was a sigh. "Kinda, yeah."

Suddenly, the young lady let out a chuckle, and as she smiled, she threw her head to the side.

"That must suck, dude."

He mumbled, "Shut up," as he pushed her head back from her face once more.

The grin slowly transformed into a gentle smile, and she continued to watch Hudson, who appeared to be earnest in his warning of her and in his desire for her to exercise caution.

On the other hand, when I look back to yesterday, the gray in his eyes, the way he became angry so quickly, and the fact that it was both hilarious and unpleasant to see him, I realize that it was both.

She said, "He has a bad temper," while she was engrossed in her own thoughts. "If he is rude, I will be rude back."

Hudson let out a deep sigh and furrowed his brow furiously. "That's very mature of you."

In an attempt to defend herself, Chloe raised her hands and appeared nearly insulted. "Did I ever claim to be mature?"

Hudson mumbled, "I thought you were anyway," as he looked at her.

As she did so, the young lady looked back ahead and brought the straw to her mouth while nodding her head.

"Not the brightest bulb, I see," she exhaled into the air around the boy, who feigned not to hear her. "I see," she said.

Hudson was rescued from his seat and the vehicle at the very last second, just as the bus came to a stop at the next stop. He did not speak as he followed Chloe, and he did not question her haste or the firm grip that she had on his wrist whatsoever.

As they stood there, the doors of the bus closed and the engine began to growl softly as it drove away. He followed along and rushed out of the bus till they were standing there.

After giving himself a nod, the young man began to tuck his lips between his teeth and then let them out with a loud pop.

"All right, so what the hell was that that was? It was four stops too early for us to get off." A unthinking nod was given by Chloe. Her lips gently parted, and a flat exhalation floated out of her mouth as she released her breath. At the sensation of the weight on her chest, she remained motionless.

She moved her head with some reluctance in order to follow the path of the bus.

After making a left turn, it vanished beyond the next curve while communicating and making a loud white noise that filled the air. Few individuals turned their gaze in the direction of the bus, which must have arrived at the busy intersection by this point and had come to a stop.

Not only did Hudson not need to follow her stare, but he was able to know by the look that was in her eyes. "Another accident?"

Some ways away, sirens could be heard. People were yelling for assistance.

Chloe murmured, "Useless," in response to the tears, shouts, and impassioned appeals. She turned on her heel and began walking in the direction of the university, as if nothing had occurred.

"The bus will be stuck there for some time; I should walk," she stated just as Hudson moved next to her. "I should walk." He gazed at her with a rapt attention.

"You'll be fine?" Before they both went left, she gave a slight nod, and they saw the bus stopped in the sea of cars that were standing.

Most of the people who were walking by remained there silently, while some spoke anxiously and a few were shocked.

Chloe made a harp. Her tone was calm as she observed the youngster, the brown of his eyes whirling like a pile of mud before it was replaced by the usual grey swirls and blurry strokes. "Of course," she replied as she watched the boy.

"Don't take too long; you'll be late for class," she said in a playful manner.

"I'll be late anyway."

"I know."

With that, she turned around and walked away, and as she did so, she happened to notice a face that she had seen before. During the course of her walk, she happened to come into contact with his eyes by inadvertently.

Additionally, neither of them failed to notice it; Chloe undoubtedly seen something that she ought not to have seen.

The fact of the matter is that neither of them seemed to care very much at that moment.

As Chloe navigated her way through the packed campus area, Jonas placed his hand on her back and guided her. When you go for a walk, maybe you shouldn't text. You are going to come into contact with someone," the young man moaned as he pushed her in the proper direction. She hummed while her eyes were fixed on her phone, and she did not even look up. "That's what I have you for.
