As she collapsed to the floor, she swore that Andrei would die at her hand. Eight years later, she reinvented herself and became his assistant. "You put something In my drink?" He asked incredulously. "Yes, I did Andrei. You thought you could kill my father and go scot-free right?. Well, karma is a bitch, isn't it?. You sent my father to jail for a crime he did not commit and he died in prison because of you. Now you know how it feels to lose everything including your life Andrei. "You're wrong Selena. I'm not an opponent that can be killed easily. I rule this game you think you are playing Selena " he hissed darkly. He smirked suddenly. "There's this special clause in my company rules which say if I were to marry anyone who owned shares in my company then their shares become automatically mine, did you forget to read that all the while you worked here" "You must be out of your mind. I will never marry you in this world or the next" she fired hotly. "It's not up to you anymore Selena Martinez, I always get what I want and as you might have noticed, I go the extra mile to get what I fucking want," he whispered darkly...

Chapter 1 One

Selena knelt at the feet of Andrei markos not daring to look up at his face. She kept her eyes level with his feet. His shoes looked expensive. She was almost sure It was worth the money he accused her father of stealing.

He watched her disdainfully like she was thrash. She couldn't understand how a young boy could be so cruel. Why he didn't have sympathy for those who couldn't afford all the luxury that his money could buy.

His gaze was like granite. They bore into her, intimidating her, making her fidget.

"Speak up pig, what do you want?" His rough voice crawled all over her skin sending shivers down her spine in fear. He was calling her a pig because of how chubby she was. It hurt but she had to save her dad so she willingly took all the insults he hurled at her.

"my father is innocent. He is not a thief and he worked for your father all his life. Please investigate this issue. My father is all I have left in this world. Don't let him rot in jail".

She pleaded, tears streaming down her face as she noticed his unchanging expression. He watched her with a dark look in his eyes like he hated the idea of her being in the same place that he was.

Then he was suddenly laughing like a maniac.

"Your father is a thief and you should be happy that I did not decide to throw you in jail with him. The nerve for you to come to my presence and plead for your criminal-minded father. No one steals from the markos empire and go scot-free "

" My father is not a thief!!" She yelled out in frustration. He didn't seem to take it too well, so she softened her pitch, lowering her gaze.

" This is not fair to me or my father. We've served you all our lives and just this once you won't even investigate to find out the truth. My father has been framed yet you won't even bother to look into it." she got out, her temper rising towards the end.

He gaped at her incredulously like he couldn't believe she would dare to speak to him that way. He waved his hand, signaling two of the men that flanked the mansion. The guards were soon there grabbing at her roughly, pulling her to her feet, keeping her in place as their boss approached her. She struggled as he got closer to her. He grabbed at her jaw, turning her face from side to side.

"I will not tolerate being spoken to in that manner by a lowlife nobody. Your father will pay for his crimes as the law states. As for you, you have no use for me. You wouldn't even be good for the whorehouses" he muttered harshly letting go of her face like she had the plague. She glared at him, hating him with every fiber of her being. She made sure he could see just how much she loathed him. He wasn't bothered in the slightest. He looked almost bored.

"Throw her out. Make sure she has some bruises to remember me by" he ordered cruelly and Selena's eyes widened, then it was the two guards practically carrying her off her feet, dragging her towards the gate. They got out of the mansion and they proceeded to toss her like a sack of dirt. She landed hard on the floor almost out of breath, blood trickling down her elbows and thigh.

She gasped in pain trying to breathe and get her bearings.

She went home to their dingy apartment which felt empty without her father. He had been caught stealing immediately after Andrei took over the company. His motives they said was to gather money to pay her tuition and start his own business. She knew in her heart it was all a lie. Her father was not a thief. He denied having anything to do with the missing funds. She knew her father hated lies, had trained her to always speak the truth, and damn the consequences, so she knew he didn't steal from Andrei Marko.

You'd think with the billions they possessed, they'll let a little theft go. They didn't of course and now her father was paying for a crime he did not commit.

She tried her best to find evidence but she was young, broke, and clueless about how to start.

The dreadful night of her life came when she heard that the prison was on fire. She had rushed there screaming on top of her lungs for help as she tried to rush into the building. The wardens held her back despite her struggles. She watched helplessly as the building her father was held in burnt to ashes. She could hear screams coming out of the building tearing at the strings that held her soul together.

As she collapsed to the floor, she swore that Andrei would die at her hand. He would pay for making her lose the only person who ever cared about her.

She swore, as long as she had breath. She was going to destroy Andrei Markos.

Chapter 2 Two

Eight years later.

Selena smiled as she walked into the company greeting some of the company workers that she was acquainted with. She had changed considerably in eight years. She had lost weight, maintained flawless skin, with gorgeous red hair. Her eyeballs were an intense shade of blue, with arched eyebrows and thick lashes that made her eyes stand out like sapphires. Her lips were luscious so she used a deep shade of red lipstick to highlight them.

She was different now than she had been at fifteen. Back then she was clueless, with no accomplishments, begging at Andrei's feet to pardon her father_the enemy's feet. She changed everything about herself, and she pulled it off so much that she had been working for Andrei as his assistant for three years, yet he didn't remember or recognize who she was.

The transformation was due to the help of her cousin who also worked for the Markos empire. He made sure she got the best education and also enrolled her in an exercise program with a new diet that had her transforming into a new woman she could hardly recognize.

Her motivation was revenge. She wanted Andrei Marko to feel pain, feel her misery before wishing he was dead.

Working in close quarters with Andrei Markos was something that made her blood boil, but she bore it well. There was no gain without pain. She also made sure she became the only one he could rely on to get the job done.

She had seen how brutal he could be when it came to handling business partners and those who thought they could double-cross him. His women were also treated likewise without any regard to their feeling. They kept coming back tho, no matter how he treated them.

She never could figure out what went on in their mind. He was handsome but he was a devil. He took away her happiness and she couldn't wait to get even.

She took a deep breath as she got to his office, pasted a sweet smile on her face as she saw him. She dropped the file on his desk. He doesn't bother to look up.

"I finally got the Japanese investors to schedule a meeting with you this Friday. If everything goes smoothly, the turnout for Saturday's event would be more incredible".

"my events are always incredible. It just got better now that I have an efficient assistant" he said In a low voice. It was rare for him to give compliments, but he had been doing that a lot the past few weeks that she wondered if something was up with him.

She also noticed him staring intensely at her, especially when he thought that her attention wasn't on him.

"I'll need your signature on this sir Andrei." She said sliding the document toward him. He looked at it briefly then signed. She smiled inwardly as she took them off the table.

"After the party, expect a raise in your paycheck," he said smoothly and she squealed.

" Really!!! Thank you so much sir, Andrei. I will not let you down. I promise"

" You can leave now" he ordered. Selena stepped outside of the office, pretending to be happy. She closed the door, a scowl replacing the smile.

"A raise after the party? Fine, we'll just have to see if you're still breathing by then" she starred down at the documents which held his signature. Half of the company shares were now hers. She had been getting him to sign shares over to her without him knowing and finally she had a sizable number of shares in the company.

"You should always read what you sign Andrei Markos. I guess you're not that wise after all" she smiled as she walked towards her desk. Everything was falling into place as it should.

The party.

Everything went according to plan and the event turned out successfully. Other billionaires were there flaunting their riches, trying to get business deals or a partnership offer. She had planned the whole event for months and she made sure that nothing was going to go wrong. The ladies at the party were also millionaires. Their expensive clothing and jewelry easily gave that fact away. Most had their eyes on Andrei probably praying in their mind for him to notice them.

She rolled her eyes heavenward as she watched a girl try all her best to get his attention but failed miserably.

She walked towards him. Time to put the plan into action, she told herself. He turns around, facing her like he sensed her coming to meet him.

Her heart gave a thump in her chest as his intense grey eyes met with hers.

Her steps faltered. She swore in her head. What was up with her stupid heart these past few days? She hated Andrei Markos so her heart should have been bitter towards him at every turn, not skip a beat because he caught her eyes.

She composed herself as she got to him.

"You seem bored already sir Andrei"

"Well crowds are not my thing miss Selena" he replied, watching the crowd, a grimace on his face.

"It does get suffocating amid crowds. I have something prepared for you in the conference room, can I steal you for some minutes" she requested cheerfully.

" Of course. I need a break anyway" he muttered. He followed after her as she led him to the boardroom.

They got into the building, and he closed the door behind them. She watched him for a reaction as he noticed how the room was decorated. There was a cake on the table and two glasses of wine. His eyes drew up in question as he turned to face her.

"I wanted us to celebrate the successful business deal we closed recently. You are the best boss that I have ever met during my short course of being an assistant, and I hope we can work together longer" she said picking up one of the glasses. He picked his, clicking it with hers. His face was impassive. It was like he was considering something, but thought it better to keep it to himself. He met her gaze.

"You're a very good assistant Selena" he murmured, drinking the wine smoothly. She watched him with satisfaction as she drank hers.

"Taste good," he said, then suddenly wavered falling to the floor.

Selena smiled. It worked faster than she thought possible, but she was cool with the outcome. She moved closer to him.

"Are you ok sir Andrei. You don't look so good" she mocked in a sweet voice.

He grabbed at the table groaning.

"You put something In my drink?" He asked incredulously.

She folded her arms, her eyes cold as she watched him fight the pain. Served him right, she thought. Her father also went through the same.

" Yes, I did Andrei. You thought you could kill my father and go scot-free right?. Well, karma is a bitch, isn't it?. You sent my father to jail for a crime he did not commit and he died in prison because of you. Now you know how it feels to lose everything including your life Andrei.

You should have sent me to prison with my dad like you said eight years ago, then I would have been dead already and you wouldn't be in the position you are now. I feel absolutely no remorse for what I'm doing now Andrei. Do you know why? Because you deserve to die" she screamed in anger until she noticed he wasn't groaning but laughing.

It was such a dark, sinister laugh that it sent chills up her arms. He stood up to his full height slowly, towering over her with a dark look on his face.

She was so shocked that she couldn't move. Her heart drummed widely In her ears.

"You're wrong Selena. I'm not an opponent that can be killed easily. I rule this game you think you are playing Selena " he hissed darkly, then Selena felt his strong hands grabbing her arms sharply. She jerked in surprise, the situation not fully registering, until her back connected with the wall painfully.

Her eyes were opened wide as she stared into his grey eyes that had darkened to slits with murderous intent written all over them.

She swallowed hard. This was not part of the plan.

Chapter 3 Three

She gasped as he shoved her against the wall painfully, his nails digging into her arms.

"Do you know how much I detest being lied to Selena? You thought you could kill me that easy?" He scoffed " people more skilled than you have tried" he roared In her face causing her to flinch in panic. He let go of her, taking a step back. He shoved his hands into his pocket as if to resist the urge to hit something, or her

"Hh-how d-did yo-you kno-know...."

He cut her off loudly" your eyes Selena!! You think I would not remember a rare feature about my enemy. You think you changed so much that I'll be stupid not to recognize you? I do have to give it to you, you have guts to even try and pull something like this".

She felt the anger rising in her chest, threatening to choke her at it's intensity. It was like a cloud of smoke coming up from all four corners and trapping her in the middle to inhale all the deathly fumes.

"How did you know I was going to poison you".

" I was keeping watch on you because I knew you were up to something that was guaranteed to get you into trouble. You crossed a line you shouldn't have".

She suddenly laughed as she felt her fears disappearing. Getting replaced with the anger that bubbled in her chest. " What are you going to do Andrei Markos? Are you going to kill me? For your information I have forty-nine percent of the company shares and do you know what's going to happen to it once am dead, it would go to charity. All the shares that you so gracefully signed over to me would be given to people who truly deserve it!" She fired at him and flinched as she saw his fist coming towards her but it only hit the wall beside her so loudly that she jumped.

He was breathing harshly, his eyes flashing as he thought of ways to punish her insolence. He took a deep breath, then he was suddenly calm like he had found the perfect solution.

"Well I guess I can't have you killed then but neither would I let you take away any part of my business Selena" he gritted out and she scoffed.

" A little too late for that don't you think. They are already mine".

He smirked suddenly. " Not for long Selena. There's this special clause in my company rules which say if I were to marry anyone who owned shares In my company then their shares become automatically mine, did you forget to read that all the while you worked here" he drawled out as Selena's eyes widened. She could grasp what he was getting at, even if it was ludicrous to consider.

"You must be out of your mind. I will never marry you in this world or the next" she fired hotly. The anger making her nauseous.

His grin got more demonic.

"It's not up to you anymore Selena Martinez, I always get what I want and as you might have noticed, I go the extra mile to get what I fucking want," he whispered darkly, hitting the wall beside her, causing her to cower in shock. She recovered from the fear, and held his gaze defiantly.

" You're signing your death warrant because I will never stop trying to kill you".

" I would love to see you try," he said, grabbing at her arms so harshly she was sure it would leave bruises. He dragged her out of the boardroom towards the party. The guest stared at him as he tugged her along with her struggling and screaming but no one intervened. He got to the parking lot, shoved her into the car and slammed the door shut. He was soon beside her at the steering wheel and then closed the door.

"Where the hell are you taking me" she screamed as he started the car, swerving sharply so suddenly that she banged her head on the window hard. She felt blood trickle down her head. He didn't acknowledge her but continued driving until he finally stopped at the church. He had made phone calls on their way there.

He dragged her out as he proceeded towards the church. She found herself standing there with him in front of a priest and marriage certificate on the alter.

"What..what are we doing here?" She asked dreadfully, her heart thumping wildly in her chest.

" We are getting married. You will never take my company from me, Selena. I can see stealing does run in the family after all. Like father like daughter right?" he said spitefully. Selena glared at him.

"Am not going to marry you!" She cried out, taking a step back. He grabbed her by the hair tightly, yanking her closer and whispering viciously in her ear.

"If you want your cousin and his parents dead then I dare you to say anything stupid and watch me bring your wish to life". He threatened darkly. Selena watched his eyes. They were dead serious.

She looked at him shuddering as the priest cleared his throat. She noticed the paparazzi rush In with their cameras.

The wedding ceremony soon commenced. She found herself saying yes I do to the man who killed her father. Signing a document that bound her to him forevermore.

It wasn't over! She swore that he would regret his decisions. She was going to ruin him. Even if it was the last thing she did.

"....I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride"

He finishes and Selena's head snaps up at his last words. Was he blind or stupid? Was he not aware of the situation she was in? Before she could react, Andrei suddenly grabbed her jaw, surprising her as he tilted her head up, then his mouth covered hers roughly. She was stunned in place, the kiss not fully registering until his mouth moved against hers. It was a kiss meant to punish. He bit at her lips hard that she was sure he drew blood. She tried to push him away but he was like stone. He devoured every corner of her lips until she felt like she was going to suffocate. When he finally let go, she was panting hard and trying to drag precious air into her lungs. Her lips were swollen and tingly.

Was this what it was like to be kissed by the devil?.

She doubted she could forget the effect of the kiss even if she wanted to. It was a warning. A warning she was ready to defy to get what she wanted.

Andrei Marko was the devil and she was going to put him through hell.
