Chapter 1 A FATAL CELEBRATION

My diary was filled with birthday dreams. For days, i'd written down every detail of my perfect celebration. Now, as the evening arrived, i wondered: would it live up to my dreams?

After taking my bath, i went downstairs to wait for my ride, my darling Damien was coming to pick me up, but first, i wanted to review my notes one last time.

Upstairs, i sat on the plush stool, pulled out delicate floral diary with a golden lock and satin ribbon bookmark, and began to flip through its pages.

The soft pink and white hues evoked a sense of classic elegance and whimsy. As i turned the pages, memories of my childhood flooded back - i had owned this diary since i was five, and now, at twenty, i was reminiscing about the past, about the lovely moments I've shared with him. The scene made my belly warm with happiness.

As i flipped through the pages, i heard a knock on the door, i shrugged, closed the diary, storing it back in the drawer before leaving my room for the door.

Damien, my beloved alpha from the Blood Moon pack has arranged a private vehicle for me. The driver stood outside with an umbrella over his head, it was raining heavily that evening but nothing would stop me from the ceremony, it was my moment after all, a moment of where i finally share the affection with the person that i truly love.

I came back downstairs with a smile on my face and a big heart, i had wanted the Alpha to come pick me up instead– but what does it matter, i was going to meet him at the venue either way, " Damien, i have been having dreams of him lately, a foreshadowing of what our lives will be like, a place nourished in love and comfort ". As i opened the door, I was faced with a very unusual driver.

The driver's face was obscured by a tangled beard, his hair unkempt and tattered, A hint of smoke lingered around him, but his suit was surprisingly tailored. He never looked confident as he kept his eyes cast downward, his gaze hidden.

" Are you the driver? " I asked, my instincts weren't so pleased with what I was seeing, i stood back at the door waiting for an answer.

" Yes, I'm your driver " the man said, " I'm here to pick you up - Damian is waiting, he paid me to come pick you, so let's get going, shall we? ".

I was a bit hesitant but I nodded, as I had noticed driver's voice was a bit more decent than his appearance. The driver held the umbrella over my head and escorted me to take a seat in the car.

Once inside the vehicle, the journey began. It was meant to be a half an hour trip from my family's pack house to the big city where the ceremony was been held but it was taking even longer.

I had sat at the back of the car, not bothered at all as i kept to myself and the flourishing feeling that always left the smile on my chubby face. I leaned back, clicking endlessly on my phone. I was overwhelming in happiness, every few minutes i'd take pictures of myself , a reminder of what today was going to be and still continued texting but an hour passed and i still hasn't reached my destination yet. I looked through the tinted window and saw that the route the driver had driven along wasn't even remotely close to where the ceremony was been held.

Worried, I knocked on the partition glass separating me from the driver, and the glass slowly slides down, The driver shot a frustrated glance in the rearview mirror which I noticed wholesomely.

" Why aren't we there yet? " I asked politely, my voice laced with confidence and charisma " 'Why this road? You know it's going to take longer? " I said

The driver hissed as he slid the partition glass down.

I took a moment to digest what he just did as the car kept moving off course. I took my phone and dialed Damien's number but he wasn't picking up, what's going on?, has the event venue been changed and I didn't know?, why is the driver being so rude?

This was all i needed to be convinced that something was wrong. I got anxious and started to sweat, i knocked on the glass gingerly but got no response. In my dialama, my werewolf traits stepped in, my eyes glimmered yellow. I withdrew her hands from knocking, clenched it tightly and began slammed it against the door but each time i punched the door, runes glowed around the walls of the interior–binding runes were engraved on the walls to keep me intact and weaken my resolve, this wasn't right– why today, why me?, i started kicking at the door, maybe that would help but it didn't.

My eyes flashed with desperation as i tried more ways to escape. But the binding runes on the car's walls kept glowing with a fierce light, trapping me. My body began contort, transforming into a werewolf. I thrashed about, claws scraping against the windows with a deafening screech, shattering and splintering as they broke my claws, the pain sizzling through my veins.

My fur stood on end, touching the walls, only to be seared away in patches as my body slammed against the runes-etched walls, the acrid stench of burning hair filling the air as her furs are burnt off as i came in contact with the walls, I was starting to bleed, the pain was nerve-wrecking

And with a final, defeated whimper, i stumbled forward out of dizziness and collapsed, exhausted.

The driver never seemed to stop driving for almost another hour but after which I subconsciously felt a halt, the car had stopped. I could sense the driver come down and with the help of someone else they took me into a place I couldn't really pinpoint.

I was kept on the floor, chains used to restrain my hands and legs, buckling them to a spot. But, i could smell the dust fluttering and a strong fragrance that reminded me of someone i loved dearly, this moment caused me to breakdown in tears, I wasn't even aware of my surroundings but whatever it was, it was hurting.

" My Damien would be looking for me now, why me? "

The entire place was reeking from this smell. After a while I could hear someone ask if i was still sleeping, the driver replied, " She's been down for nearly two hours, but I think she's just exhausted rather than actually sleeping. She was out cold, but I'm sure she'll be okay once she gets here" .The man replied.

" Wake her up, we've got a score to settle ". The latter gasped as he walks over to where I was kept like a wet rag, naked and bruised.

I was still on her face when someone splashed me with a bucket of water, the chilling sensation made me gasp and the man yelled at me to get up, " You've got visitors ". I gently pulled myself up, exhausted and terrified, even my fingers were twitching.

My eyes were half-closed, my vision unstable but once i could make sense of what was happening, i saw two figures standing before me was Damien?, my Damien, and beside him was my twin sister, Everly.

"Welcome back, Glenira," Damien said, his voice dripping with malice. "I see you're feeling better."

My eyes widened as she lay in the scene before her. Everly, my twin sister wrapped her flirty hands around him, a smug smile spreading across her face as she cradled her pregnant belly. I looked at both of them and felt devastated, tears clouded my eyes, my tongue became numb as words felt heavy and inconsistent. I was breaking down in pain, I felt it all in all one, a sharp sensation to a headache pounded wickedly against my skull, stealing my voice.

"What's going on?" I asked, my voice shaking, my skin was all burnt from the incursion in the car but that didn't matter, what matters now was why Damien could watch me go through this pain and he stood there, smiling and entitled.

Everly chuckled. "Oh, Glenira. You're so naive. Damien and I have been lovers for months. We've been waiting for the perfect moment to get rid of you."

My eyes snapped to Damien, my heart shattering into a million pieces. "You lied to me," i whispered, " I loved you, why would you lie to me? ". The tears I've been holding back finally came, washing down my face.

Damien shrugged. "You were just a means to an end, Glenira. Everly is the one who truly holds my heart." He replied, at this point I still felt something for him, everything was just happening fast, Why can he say this things to me, he said he loved me not too long ago, why revoke those words?". I cried.

Everly's smile grew wider. "And soon, our child will be the heir to everything. You're in y past now, Glenira."

I felt like I had been punched in the gut. I stumbled backward, her eyes welling up with more tears. "How could you, Everly? You're my sister..."

Everly's expression turned cold. "Sister? You've always been the favored one, Glenira. It's time for me to take what's mine, so quite being a crybaby ".

Damien's words cut through the air like a knife. "Everly is my future, Glenira. You're just a memory." Me?, but I still love you?

I was left in shock as one of the men who had abducted me instinctively pulled a pistol, " Good bye Glenira, " said Damien as a loud bang follows and a silver bullet went through my head, exploding large chucks of my brain, killing me as i falls back, my blood, cold and in shock, splattered everywhere.

Before my eyes close, I could still see Damien smirk at my convulsing body, he felt pleased, same as his lover.

I felt every pain imaginable occur to me in that very moment, I felt my brain leaking, my nerves slowly giving way as my heart began to sink and slowly beat. After struggling to stay alive, i gave up and was left in the pool of my own blood.

Later that same night, My corpse will be dragged out of the tower and taken somewhere, a forest that has a river running through it. They then dropped the already decaying corpse into the cursed river of the blood moon. This was a sacred place steeped in blood of countless warriors of ancient conflicts.

Damien looked over my drowning corpse and said these words to the woman he had claimed to love " your death is a relief, I can finally stop pretending to care ". He dusted his hands and left with his men and that was how Glenira submerged but my story didn't end there, I wished it did but that was just the beginning

Chapter 2 INTO THE DARK WATERS

Author's pov

Damien and Everly stood in the dimly lit room, their eyes fixed on Glenira's limp body sprawled on the cold, cracked floor. The once vibrant young woman was now nothing more than a lifeless shell, her soft brown hair matted against her pale skin, and her once bright eyes now dull and vacant. The eerie silence that filled the room was only broken by the shallow breaths of the twins, their chests rising and falling in unison as they stared down at their handiwork.

A slow, satisfied smile spread across Damien's lips as he tilted his head slightly, taking in the sight of Glenira's still form. "It's done," he whispered, the words dripping with cold satisfaction. His hand, still trembling slightly from the adrenaline, reached out to grasp Everly's, pulling her closer. "We did it."

Everly's lips curled into a grin that mirrored her. There was a coldness in her eyes, an emptiness that only deepened as she gazed at her twin sister's body. Glenira, who had always been the more beloved of the two, was now nothing more than a tragic casualty of their dark ambitions. "She was always so naive," Everly muttered, her voice laced with disdain. "But it was time she learned that this world isn't kind to the weak."

Damien chuckled darkly, brushing a stray lock of hair from Everly's face. "And we've made sure of that."

Everly tore her gaze from Glenira and turned to Damien, her scowl deepening. "How do we get rid of this body?" she asked, her tone harsh and practical, as if discussing a mere inconvenience rather than the disposal of their sister's corpse.

Damien's eyes gleamed with a twisted sort of pleasure as he considered the options. Then, an idea struck him. "Let's dump her in the cursed river," he suggested, his voice carrying a sinister edge. "No one will bother to look for her body if they ever get the hint. The river is sacred, and everyone tends to avoid it. Even the bravest of souls wouldn't dare venture near it."

Everly nodded in agreement, her mind already picturing Glenira's body sinking into the dark, swirling waters of the cursed river, swallowed by the secrets it had claimed over the centuries. "Yes," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "That's perfect."

As if on cue, the door creaked open, and their accomplice, the driver who had been sent to bring Glenira to the abandoned tower house, stepped inside. His eyes darted nervously between the twins and the lifeless body on the floor, but he quickly composed himself, knowing there was no room for hesitation now.

"Dump her in the cursed river," Damien instructed, his tone cold and authoritative. "You get your full payment when that is done."

The driver swallowed hard, nodding in understanding. "Consider it done," he replied, though his voice wavered ever so slightly. He wasn't one to question orders, especially when such a large sum of money was on the line. He approached Glenira's body, his hands steady despite the unsettling task ahead. With practiced ease, he began to bundle her lifeless form, wrapping her in a thick, coarse blanket to conceal her features. As he worked, he could feel the weight of the twins' gaze on him, their eyes boring into his back.

Damien and Everly exchanged a final glance before turning to leave, their footsteps echoing off the walls as they made their way out of the tower house. They had to return back to the birthday party. After all, it was Evelyn and Glenira's birthday, their absence would raise questions, and the last thing they needed was to draw attention to themselves. As they walked, their hearts pounded with a mixture of fear and exhilaration, the thrill of what they had done still coursing through their veins.

With every step, they forced themselves to adopt a facade of normalcy, practicing their smiles and laughter in the dimly lit hallway. By the time they reached the exit, their expressions were masks of innocence, the perfect picture of siblings eager to celebrate their sister's special day.

Meanwhile, the driver finished securing Glenira's body and hoisted the bundle over his shoulder, grunting slightly under the weight. He moved quickly, not daring to linger any longer than necessary. The drive to the cursed river was a short one, but it felt agonizingly long as the oppressive silence pressed in around him. Every bump in the road made his heart skip a beat, as if the river itself was calling to the body he carried, eager to claim yet another soul.

When he finally reached the cursed river, the driver hesitated for just a moment, his hand trembling as he touched the surface of the icy water. The river was as dark and foreboding as the stories had said, its depths unknowable, its waters unnaturally still. But he had a job to do.

With a deep breath, he stepped closer to the edge and, with one final glance at the lifeless bundle, heaved Glenira's body into the cursed river. The water splashed up around her as she sank beneath the surface, the ripples quickly fading as if she had never been there at all. The river accepted her without question, pulling her down into its cold embrace, where she would remain hidden from the world above.

The driver watched until the water was still again, then turned on his heel and made his way back to his car, eager to be away from the cursed place. As he drove off, he felt a strange sense of relief wash over him, as though a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders.

But deep down, he knew the river would never forget what it had taken that night.

Chapter 3 BENEATH THE BLINDFOLD

Author's pov

" I loved you, Damien, but loving you destroyed me. Now, I'm just a shadow, drowning in the darkness of my own revenge, forever screaming your name ".

Glenira floated aimlessly on the blood moon river for three days, her soulless body washed deeper and deeper away from sight. On the third day of her death, under the full moon, a whisper called out to her – the dead Glenira started crying. But how could that be possible, She was dead?

The winds listened closely, and a faint sob grew into a chorus of cries. Screams and wails filled the air like a choir of crying choristers, yet no one else could be seen crying along with Glenira.

Then, she came up a shore where a multitude of elderly people speaking as one began tugging at her body. Each one wanted to touch her.

" if only she could hear us... Was she silenced forever? Oh, the weight of her grief! Her heart, shattered... loving in vain... Guilt consumes her... What solace can we offer? Tears, only tears... Sorrow, echoing through eternity... Vengeance, a mournful cry... Bring her forth! Let her emerge! But alas, lost to us... Forever gone... Oh, the pain! If only she could hear... Silence, deafening silence. ".

They held her in place, their voices pinning her down, each one wanted to claim Glenira's soul for themselves, until her soul gasped out of the body and was forcefully plunged through the water as she was overwhelmed by thoughts they weren't necessarily her own.

She finally stopped at the other side, a place where souls come to be wieghed. She emerged, floating above the transparent floor, her eyes had lost focus, she couldn't through the many eyes glaring at her through the wall of darkness.

" What is your name, child? . " a husky voice chimed in.

She tried to look at who or what was speaking to her but her eyes hadn't just lost focus as she had initially thought, they were blind, she mustn't see those at the other side, they were too potent to be witnessed by untrained eyes. Her empty eye sockets, dry and cracked. Darkness had eaten away the eyes, leaving hollow shadows.

" Where am I? " she asked, " I should be dead, shouldn't I? ". She spun around, her garment fluttering gracefully.

" Yes darling, but No! Things aren't as they seem down here ".

" Every soul gets a chance of redemption and rebirth when you enter how abode " a voice rang back with a sadistic laugh at the end of its statement, " You've been brought before the elders of old to weigh your heart on the goddess's scale of justice ".

" The moon goddess has chosen you, my love. She's heard your pain and is calling to you. Her hand is outstretched, offering solace in the darkness. Will you follow her? ".

How could it be, " I thought it was all a myth, the goddess, the many histories " She then paused to contemplate, where she was? And who are these elders licking the remains of her thoughts.

" As we had told you, darling, we call ourselves the elders of old...

" Yes... " they replied in unison, how they were able to read her thoughts remained a mystery to Glenira but at the other side, at the side where all dead souls come to be judged, thoughts do not simply. They are blurted out of the soul speaks what they intend to keep in their mind. No secret is kept to one's self, these elders saw all and knew all.

" By the grace of the goddess, we are the seventy-nine elders dedicated to helping souls achieve vengeance by providing them with new bodies or if a soul has outlived their chance of returning to the mortal realm, we give them eternal rest...

"... Or eternal punishment for their transgressions! " One added as they all started laughing.

Glenira withdrew her blind gaze and lowered her head, this was a lot to take in even for her.

Unknowingly a spindle finger lifted her head up, she couldn't see the creature but she could smell the grace and morality that oozed out of her " You had a bright future,Glenira– but you'd do well to accept what has happened to you and simply move on from it– no one plans for misfortunes but it is a necessity, it is what destiny wants ".

Glenira brittled and floated a few steps back as the finger slipped off her chin. Her entire body felt numb.

One of the older voices coughed, Glenira raised her head before the elder began speaking, " Would you, Glenira tames accept the pact of reincarnation as we have given? " .

Glenira swallowed the phlegm in her throat and looked up, staring blindly into nothingness, why would I want to return and properly die again?, " Would he recognize me, when he sees me?." she asked.

They all chuckled, " Sadly not. Though he would only know if you tell him, but the goddess gives one a new flesh, a new aura and a fresh start " the reply came back almost instantly, " The sooner you accept those benefits, the better ".

Glenira took a deep breath, haunted by the cries of fellow dead souls who never got their chance at revenge, but she felt the soothing feeling of those that were at peace with themselves.

Now, the choice of reliving her life was being offered to her on a golden platter and she couldn't simply reject it but, she paused. At that moment she tightened her fingers into a fist and heaved. " I accept your pact ".

They all applauded her but contained their words as one spoke again, " By accepting, you forfeit your previous life, but at a steep cost: you will retain every memory you've once had, forced to witness your murderers live out their days in freedom but in this new life , you are given a new path, Will you accept this fate? " .

She only had one more shot at living, she simply couldn't decline this at any given moment. She paused her lips and smiled, " I accept ".

" Now, leave! Return to the world that has stolen your happiness, show them that love has finally overcame death itself and remember, darling, that you will one day save them, those that have forsaken you, you'd in turn save the world too ". She felt a cold melting sensation as her soul is vacuumed out from the presence of the elders and placed in another body.

Her palm felt warm as she entered the new body. A new body that lay helpless on a sickbed.
