The Kingdom of Tamman 1805
Drawing nearer to the castle's stylish, expansive black iron gates, standing tall, strong, and domineering with intricate patterns. On the tall, sturdy post on either side stood a ferocious black wolf statue on its hind legs, snout pointing towards the sky.
Queen Luna Aakifahlynn noticed a crowd outside the gates from the backseat of the silver royal limousine, the first of its kind.
One thing about the Royals, they had the best and the latest of what this wretched world had to offer.
Setting closer, she could see that the crowd out here filtered out from what was happening inside the gate.
She could hear the muffled screaming and shouting but could not clearly decipher what they were saying. However, suddenly the place went silent as Queen Luna Aakifahlynn focused her hearing, tuning in.
It was as if someone knew she was tuning in and gave the order for silence.
The uproar stopped. However, the people continued shouting and fist pumping in the air, 'Yeah,' 'Whoo hoo,' 'they are here, finally.'
Her unique shade of blue eyes, bright and glistening with excitement, slid toward her husband and Mate, Alpha King Jairus Mathiasen, ruler of all magical beings, and smiled tenderly.
Softly squeezing the hand, she held, "Oh, Jairus, what have you done?" Her voice was full of admiration as her heart swelled in her chest because of her mate.
Jairus smiled down at her, eyes glinting with his own excitement. He kissed the back of her palms he held tenderly.
Her childhood sweetheart Jairus always had a knack for surprising her. So tonight, when he whisked her away for an intimate dinner, just the two of them, it was no surprise.
It was no surprise when they took the time and drove through the Kingdom under the moonlit sky. King Jairus knew she loved her people and would enjoy this time, confirming that the people were indeed doing well before she left.
Queen Luna loved his spontaneity. Now they were back home, driving through the castle's gates, and there were so many people. 'What was going on? What did he have up his sleeve?'
Aakifahlynn did not know, but she had been down on herself ever since her body failed to produce magic, and on top of that, she lost her wolf.
She had been feeling unworthy of leading, which is why she had spoken to her husband a few weeks ago to discuss the next steps, given her current ineptitude in performing most of her duties.
Queen Luna Aakifahlynn needed a sabbatical to cleanse her mind, body, and soul because her body was betraying her without compassion or mercy, and she wanted to be at her best self to lead her people.
She lost the strength and power she enjoyed having. She was a force to be reckoned with at full strength and ability.
Sadly, this happened to her because she had mainly fed the magic side of her for a very long time and neglected her wolf.
Queen Luna Aakifahlynn felt as if she was being punished.
Nevertheless, she had done it, and if given a chance, she would do it again for her mate and Kingdom.
And if this Kingdom should continue to stay safe from impending attacks, Queen Luna Aakifahlynn knew she needed to get herself in better shape. Get things right with her body to function as it should.
'But what was all this? Was this a surprise going away gathering for her?' It must be. He must have gathered the people last minute for a celebration before she left on her highway to recovery.
"Baby, what's going on?" Aakifahlynn beamed at her husband, leaning into him as she tugged his shirt. He was being somewhat secretive.
"Sweetie, it's a surprise, you'll see." He gazed upon her. She could see the love she was so used to by now in his eyes.
She snuggled into him, basking in the almost mute sensations contact with his skin provided her. It was weak due to her condition. However, she felt it nonetheless.
Her body used to come alive instantly at his touch. However, now, his gentle touches left in its wake a lazy awakening. And yet her emotions were just as strong as they were for him the first time she laid her eyes on him.
Completely enamored.
Aakifahlynn gazed out the window at his side as they drove up to the castle's main entrance.
Looking up at the vast sky, "Beautiful," she breathes. It was nearly midnight. Queen Luna was sure of it. The night sky was scenic.
The backdrop was a chilling midnight blue-black glittering with millions of tiny stars that filled the sky, complementing the Moon that shone in her wondrous glory.
The Moon was full and bright, and somehow, the brightness and fullness of it gave her a warm, comforting sensation that the Divine Moon Goddess was looking down upon them.
On a night like this, a celebration before she leaves to get herself right for her people and the Kingdom.
She wondered if the Divine Moon Goddess was pleased with their ruling, and if yes, then why was she weakening by the day?
Why had she lost her wolf?
Nevertheless, she gazed at its brightness and allowed herself to be wrapped in its embrace. While her husband's muscular arms encased around her, igniting her skin with the light sparks of the mate bond.
Alpha King Jairus stroked her arms as he held her close, gazed lovingly into her eyes, and smiled a smile that could melt any woman's heart, and she would melt every time.
Jairus's hazel eyes slid back to what was happening outside the vehicle.
And though Aakifahlynn was extremely weak right now, she could feel the vibrations of excitement radiating from her husband.
She leaned in, turned his face to look at her, and kissed him. It was gentle and sweet. Her mate was simply the most precious.
The vehicle finally came to a stop by the entrance of the castle. It was as if the driver had intentionally driven up to the castle slowly.
Jairus quickly departed the vehicle, his eyes glazed over momentarily, then back in focus. He held his hand out for Queen Luna Aakifahlynn to take as she exited.
Scooping her up bridal style, Jairus carried her inside the castle. She giggled lightly at his swift movements as she curiously wondered what was next.
When Jairus whispered in her ear, his lips brushed over the tip, kindling the hairs on her skin to stand at attention.
As if reading her mind. "I have a little something to show you first," Alpha King Jairus kissed her temple tenderly. So soft, she closed her eyes and relaxed in his arms, overcome with so much love for this man.
Surely it was another surprise, a private one, maybe before they greeted the people. Her cheeks stained tomato red as she blushed and nestled further into his chest.
His arms tightened around her.
Life was not perfect, but at least she had her husband and mate who would be back home rooting for her and supporting her in her absence.
Queen Luna Aakifahlynn was sad to leave him and her people, but she knew it was a sacrifice she needed to make.
She did not have a choice if she was to get back in the shape of being a faithful and devoted Queen Luna at full strength, fully capable of defending her Kingdom.
Jairus has been by her side aiding, comforting, and supporting her. Her true champion, she had not left yet, and she was already anticipating her return.
Soon Jairus set her down, and she realized it was his private study. The room was fully lit with exquisite candelabras set up around the room. These were on the cabinet jammed into the wall, the coffee table, and his desk.
A chandelier glowed above them, filled with white candles. The sofas are still the same on the right as you entered.
Jairus strode straight to his vast mahogany desk ahead of the entrance. He pulled out a cream letter-sized envelope and handed it to Aakifahlynn. Looking into her eyes, suddenly, a blank expression on his face.
Her eyes widened, then a smile stretched her lips, and her eyes glinted. 'Oh Goddess, was he able to make the trip after all?'
She would have loved it if he could, simply to get her settled, but she knew of the ramifications. A Queen and King can only be away from their Kingdom for a short time, especially at the same time.
The council consisted of the Elders, Dukes, Marqueses, Earls, Viscounts, Barons, and Lords who advised against this. They were all from varying magical beings simply for transparency and to maintain a balance.
Nevertheless, she hoped he could at least spare a few weeks to make the trip and back like one of their short delegate outings. Visiting prestigious werewolf communities and towns around the continent.
Aakifahlynn eagerly took the envelope and quickly opened it, gently lifting the top and slipping her fingers in. She pulled out a few ink-quilled sheets of paper.
Her eyebrows furrowed. Odd, she thought, this was not a train ticket. She asked, confused, not bothering to zone in, "What's this?"
She gestured the paper at him, her voice skeptical, confusion written all over her face. She looked at the sheets again.
And read, however, nothing in this world could have prepared her for what she saw in bold capital letters.
How did she miss this at first glance? It was sticking out like a sore thumb.
Aakifahlynn clutched her aching chest with one hand as she held the papers in the other.
Her eyes were wide in shock, a shiver of dread ran down her spine, and her already strained state weakened as she read.
'The PEOPLE OF THE KINGDOM OF TAMMAN,' Aakifahlynn's eyes narrowed, and eyebrows deepened, "Jairus? What's this?" Her voice was barely audible, but she knew he would hear her with his wolf senses.
Aakifahlynn continued reading, but she did not like how he stood there lightly, leaning his butt on his desk observing, and each time she questioned, he gestured to her with a roll of his palm to keep going.
But it was not that she could not read and understand. It was just that she could not begin to fathom what brought this on. 'How? When? Why?'
This made her a bit anxious and uneasy; she continued, 'To All Who Shall See These, Presents.....DIVORCE GREETING'
'Know ye shall license and permission was given,' she could not continue reading. Aakifahlynn stared unblinking at her husband of five years and mate of eight years, desperately searching his eyes for the meaning of this.
Her eyes were full of confusion and uncertainty.
This must be a mistake, a cruel one, but a mistake nonetheless.
"It's divorce greetings, Aakifahlynn. What does it look like?" Jairus straightened his back, folded his arms, and looked down at his wife, mate, and Luna Queen, suddenly emitting a hint of agitation.
She stood a few feet from her husband, and his sizeable spacious study suddenly seemed to be closing in on her. All the elegant pieces of furniture were suddenly mocking her as the glare from the candlelit chandelier above cast eerie shadows on the wall surrounding them.
The stacked bookshelf behind her mate seemed to stretch suddenly and loomed over them.
While her husband's features and stance suddenly dripped with annoyance, like he wanted this to be over with, and hatred shot through the weakened bond, yet it was substantial enough to strangle her.
Aakifahlynn clutched at her throat as she struggled to get any air into her body that suddenly ached with the shock that ripped right through her, the papers falling from her hands.
Her heart rate picked up, "Jairus! Jai? This does not make sense. No, no, no, no, what happened? What was happening? What is going on?"
"I can't...I don't..." Aakifahlynn wanted to say she did not understand the meaning of this. However, words failed her terribly, and she was still in shock.
After a moment of silence that stretched thin, "Just sign on the dotted line. I have already signed. Let's be done with it." Jairus rose off the desk and spoke with aggression and hatred laced deep in his voice.
His face, that face, she did not recognize him.
Queen Luna Aakifahlynn wanted to cower before him but could not move. She was trapped in her fright by his sudden movements and aggression toward her.
And to top it off, she struggled immensely to think clearly or even reconcile what was going on given the night she had.
Her night of a romantic dinner for two in her favorite restaurant as they had toast about her getting better and returning to her people.
It was just the two of them at the restaurant first. Then they ventured to walk under the full moon at the park downtown. The drive through the towns and villages.
She couldn't utter a word as she stared at her husband with confused, hurt, narrowed eyes.
What she saw in his eyes and demeanor - her body shook, and she felt like a million pins and needles pricked her skin, and her heart cried out in pain.
'How could this be? Hatred? Did he hate her so vehemently?' Jairus took a deep breath, then exhaled, and another intense emotion shook her to her core, loathing.
It was strong enough to trample her small, frail, weakened body. She swayed but stayed upright.
Would the man she grew up with, her best friend, sneak her like this? And not be open and honest with her?
So then, was that what tonight was really about? To sweeten her up before he ripped her heart out and sent her on her way? Then why the crowd?
She could not believe her husband. This was not him? "Jai, this...this is not you." With a trembling voice, she whispered, gesturing to the fallen papers while desiring to reach out and touch him.
Have him wrap her in his arms and say this was a mistake. He had temporarily lost his mind. Though the bond was weak, it still worked just as fine.
This was not him. Aakifahlynn started to feed on that idea. That has it be it. It just has to.
Not after she came to him with this as a trusted partner, her mate, her best friend, and her husband. Then, at his suggestion, she researched and heard of the temple of rest.
There, she could rejuvenate and find solace, hoping to reignite her magic and reawaken her wolf. The monks there were expertly gifted in restoration.
However, one needs to be thoroughly cleansed and have a free and clear mind for this to succeed, hence the sabbatical.
Queen Luna Aakifahlynn wanted to be away from protecting and running a kingdom while she focused on her health, truly freeing her mind from the thoughts of the Kingdom's survival so she could concentrate on her own.
She needed isolation; why would he not let her do that? Or did he want to rid himself of the weak Queen Luna, not interested in her return to the Kingdom?
Quickly getting impatient, Jairus snatched the divorce papers off the floor where they had slipped from her fingers, shoved them in her face, and forcibly pushed her backward as he bellowed, "GET OUT NOW."
Queen Luna Aakifahlynn stumbled. She held her palm to her face, gently caressing the spot that sparked through the pain because of the slight graze of his finger. She whipped her neck toward him, but words failed her again.
She searched his once-loving eyes.
"LEAVE THIS PLACE," he growled, and at the sheer power in his voice, she stood unmoving, but it was not a command. However, the power he unleashed held her captive as her body shook violently, yet again under its strength.
Her frail bones started to ache more from within.
She stared at this stranger before her. Her eyebrows knitted as she observed him unable to form coherent words. He was huffing and puffing as if he was ready to blow her away literally.
His thick eyebrows pinched, and his gorgeous hazel eyes that she used to get lost in were blazing down at her with anger, hatred, loathing, and something else she could not quite put her fingertips on.
His defined jaw clenched as he gritted his teeth.
Her mouth opened and closed two more times, but nothing came out.
However, they were both interrupted when Taisiya Smithesenja sauntered into the room in a gorgeous cream-colored mermaid-style fitted gown.
Intricate and delicate, beading and lacing weaved through the front effortlessly, fitting her curves like a glove. Her long, flowing orange hair stood out in contrast to the dress.
Her luscious eyelashes batted as her mesmerizing emerald green eyes glinted with the excitement of the occasion, and Aakifahlynn stumbled as she recalled her husband's reaction in the vehicle.
He was vibrating with excitement. Aakifahlynn's eyes slid between the pair.
Oh, the betrayal was too much; she could not stand it. She wanted to scream, rant and rave at her husband.
What was SHE doing here? Aakifahlynn thought as Taisiya leisurely walked toward Jaimes.
Aakifahlynn scoffed when Taisiya captured his lips in a kiss right before her. Taisiya's neck craned to watch Aakifahlynn looking on repulsed while she claimed her husband and childhood friend. Her mate, for Goddess's sake.
They carried on in a manner as if they were starving for each other's touches and caresses. Aakifahlynn watched in horror and disgust as her heart shattered again into pieces, unable to look away as her husband's hands slid down to cup Taisiya's ample butt.
He squeezed and growled in pleasure as she moaned into the kiss while struggling to move in her restricted dress, almost reading to rip it off.
Who was this man?
However, she did not get time to think further because, after their make-out session, "What are you waiting on? I SAID GET OUT AND GET OUT NOW!"
Billionaire Alpha King Jairus Mathiasen growled menacingly, and he was in front of her instantly, leaving his mistress's side.
"What are you waiting on? I SAID GET OUT AND GET OUT NOW!" Billionaire Alpha King Jairus Mathiasen growled menacingly and was in front of her instantly, leaving his mistress's side.
His sweet luscious lips that used to kiss her tears away or pepper kisses all over her body, having her skin erupt in a flurry of warm, comforting, and sensual tingles now curled into a scowl as he reared back his hand and struck her across the face, this time with the already prepared and signed divorce paper.
Causing her to stumble, hunching over sideways with the force of her husband's shove behind the slap. With her reflexes, she was able to right herself as she held the side of her face that stung in the aftermath of his heavy hand.
And yet mild sparks were warming it simultaneously, but she was thankful he did not use his full strength on her weakened body.
Yes, her husband, a man she had married, loved, and given five years of her life as a doting and supportive wife and Queen Luna. That same man was her mate for eight years and counting.
A mate who was destined to be with her, he was made specifically for her, and she for him. Blessed by the Divine Moon Goddess herself with the aim that her creation, whom she calls her children, would never be alone in this treacherous world.
They would always have each other if no one else.
Queen Luna Aakifahlynn stared at the man, her husband, but she did not know who this person was before her. She surmised for the fourth time during this nightmare she would not seem to wake up from.
Aakifahlynn was shocked at his outburst and his sudden bout of harsh treatment toward her.
She started to move. She needed to leave this place. Where was everyone? Where was her servant? But she was unable to move. As if frozen by sheer shock and trepidation at the realization of what the night brought.
How the night started, never in a million years did she think this was the ending.
A planned one too...SLAP again, the other cheek this time, "Aren't you listening to me, woman?"
"Sign the papers and leave," Jairus spoke through gritted teeth. His breathing was heavy, nose flaring, chest and shoulders moving up and down.
As if he was trying to restrain himself from lifting the woman up and throwing her out as he stared at her in disgust.
His features transformed to pure disgust, his lips curled in a nasty snare.
His and Taisiya's eyes showed pure hatred that she was weaker compared to Taisiya. They were both smug and pleased with themselves, sharing a triumphant aura.
As if their plans could not have gone any better.
Their eyes locked on each other again, and a hint of desire flashed in her husband's eyes as he stared at Taisiya. "Soon, my love," he whispered in her ear so tenderly as Taisiya hung in his arms embrace.
They stared deeply into each other's eyes and promptly resumed their hungry kisses, hands roaming each other's bodies feeling and caressing their way around each part.
However, it was over as quickly as it started when Alpha King Jairus's eyes switched to hatred as they slid toward her again.
"You don't deserve to be here, with me in this castle." Jairus pointed at the ground at 'here' and flared his hands out and up smugly, gesturing to the Castle they lived in.
'How dare he?' Her knees buckled and finally gave out under her. The betrayal was unfathomable. Her body slumped to the ground, and her husband was not even fazed.
'She does not belong here?'
Instead, he snared at her as if she was the most pathetic person he'd had the nightmare of dealing with.
She wanted to laugh and scream bloody murder at the same time.
'How dare he?'
This was coming from the man who could have never gotten where he was today without Aakifahlynn by his side, as she was the one that paved the way for him to get to the throne while simultaneously uniting all magical beings.
He ruled his Kingdom and protected it 'on paper' fiercely, but Aakifahlynn's magic and knowledge allowed him that power.
'Was this a nightmare?' She asked herself again.
No, it was not. Because Aakifahlynn was feeling every ounce of demoralizing pain. She felt every bit of his slaps across her soft, tender skin, and even down on the cold polished concrete castle floor, she felt the results in her aching bones.
Aakifahlynn could not fathom her predicament. She was a werewolf blessed by the Divine Moon Goddess. Not all wolves have unique gifts, only a select few.
They are called the Ace wolves, gifted and highly favored by the Divine Moon Goddess.
Suddenly, she was jerked out of her stroll down memory lane when she felt strong fingers grip her long blonde hair, sharp pangs shut through her tender scalp and traveled down her spine.
Tears from her pitiful blue gaze flowed freely as they frantically searched, only to realize her husband had grabbed her by her hair and dragged her out the door and down the corridor.
Panic gripped her. 'Where was he taking her? To the dungeons?' Surely he would not be this mean to a weak woman. She could be practically considered human at this point.
Nonetheless, she was still the Queen. 'How could he treat her this way?'
Catching herself, "JAIRUS, what are you doing?" She screamed in terror as she fought against his hold and tried to push herself up on her feet, but they kept being pulled from under her as he aggressively moved forward, dragging her along with him.
Taisiya gave her readied catwalk down the dimly lit corridor behind them all the while.
But Aakifahlynn was facing her while dragged viciously by her husband. Her eyes dimmed when she saw the victory in Taisiya's eyes, making her want to gouge those bewitching green eyes straight out of her skull.
But Taisiya did not owe her anything. It's not like they were friends or sisters. She was her mate's first love. She had disappeared from their lives for years.
Then Aakifahlynn realized Jairus was her mate at the ripe old age of eighteen.
Taisiya only returned to their lives about three years ago. However, their paths only crossed a little. Her real fight was with her deceitful and trifling mate of a husband.
She was about to wail again at her husband but held her tongue. She would not further degrade herself in front of these people to give them the satisfaction of seeing her beg.
Aakifahlynn, sadly, still had difficulty accepting reality. She could not grasp this. No matter how much she tried to make sense of everything, she couldn't, and the more she tried, her head throbbed.
Even if she was not his mate or wife, how could he treat the one person who single handily took the throne for him this way?
It was she that safeguarded the Kingdom of Tamman's borders for years with her magic. She had expertly cursed all weapons to kill any that would, unfortunately, come into contact.
They would surely meet their demise, which made the King powerful in his people's eyes and in all the villages and towns far and wide across the beautiful continent of Anatola.
As far as across the ocean, to other vast islands, where one would need one of those wooden sea transport to get to, know his name because of Queen Luna Aakifahlynn Mathiasen.
He was so revered that whole packs and herds would travel to visit his Kingdom. He was the ruler of all magical beings, and as for his enemies, none that tried had come close to touching him within their ruling.
His Kingdom had quickly grown, and it was like he had risen to fame for his skill in battle and training the best warriors.
Bottomline, his Kingdom was to be feared, and no one dared to go against him.
They had run this Kingdom together smoothly for five years, and the people were treated fairly. Things had blossomed tremendously for the Kingdom of Tamman in five years because of Aakifahlynn, and now she was tossed out like a decaying rodent.
She desperately grasped at the hand in her hair, attempting to prise his fingers off, but his grip would only tighten.
Reaching out the massive front doors of the Castle, Alpha King Jairus Mathiasen swung his hand and tossed her as if she was a bowling ball hitting some bowling pins at a bowling alley.
