Chapter 1 Scram You Mean Scrambled Egg

Standing right next to a luxurious villa, there was the house of an ordinary family.

"Young master, where are you going? Young master, please don't run away!" An anxious voice could be heard along with hurried footsteps.

At this moment, a tall, slender young boy with an indifferent look on his face strode towards the back gate of the villa. As he looked over his shoulder in disgust, he quickened his pace, and with no hesitation, he went out.

Worried that he might be caught, he scanned the area and was disappointed to realize that there was nowhere to hide. However, all of a sudden, he noticed that the gate of his neighbor's house was unlocked. Desperate as he was, he didn't think too much about it and went inside to hide himself.

The old butler quickly followed outside. Gasping and panicking, he looked around for the young boy, but there was only an empty road in front of him. A shiver instantly went down his spine. Things were getting serious now. If anything happened to the boy, he was pretty sure that the old master would definitely beat the shit out of him later!

As beads of sweat started to gather on his forehead, the butler roared at the servants behind him, "Don't just stand there! Hurry up and find the young master! If you fail, I guarantee you won't get paid!"

Only then did the servants begin to take the matter more seriously. They scattered around to look for the young boy. The butler also stepped forward, calling him out at the top of his lungs.

"Young master! Young master Ryker! Where are you?"

As the cries and footsteps began to fade away, Ryker Ning relaxed his vigilance a little. It didn't seem anyone would find him for the time being.

With a slight frown, Ryker carefully examined the place around him. He was in a small, clean, and tidy garden that probably belonged to an ordinary family. But it didn't seem anyone was home at the moment.

Ryker cleared his throat and tentatively asked, "Hello? Is anybody home? Hello?"

Still, no one answered. He was alone in the small garden. Distressed and tired, he walked to a nearby tree and sat on the grass under its shadow. His handsome face looked a bit desolated.

Today was his father's wedding day and also the anniversary of his mother's death.

Ryker was aware that his family wasn't like the others. After all, they were all so rich and powerful. Yet what shocked him the most was that none of his family members seemed to know what love was!

His parents got married due to a business alliance, and therefore, their relationship was as fragile as thin ice. Unlike other married couples who had been in love for many years, his parents had always treated each other coldly. So it came as no surprise when his father showed up with a new lover soon after his mother died in a car accident.

Ryker didn't blame his father for getting married again. But he couldn't get past the day he chose to do it. No matter how bad his relationship with his late wife was, they had been together for more than ten years. Couldn't he at least show some respect and choose another date? How could he happily marry another woman on the day his ex-wife died?

Ryker really couldn't understand why adults were so indifferent to each other.

Leaning against the big tree, Ryker closed his beautiful eyes. Slowly, tears began to roll down his cheeks. Only a year after his mother passed away, his dad found a new girlfriend, bringing a lot of changes to the family. This was simply too much for the thirteen-year-old boy to bear.

Perhaps because he had been repressing his feelings for a long time, his silent tears soon turned into loud sobs. Burying his head in his knees, he sadly cried.

"Hello! What's wrong with you?" A sweet childish voice came through.

It belonged to a little girl with big eyes and rosy cheeks. She stared at Ryker curiously. Noticing that he still ignored her, she approached him and stretched out her little hands to push his shoulder.

However, as soon as she touched his collar, Ryker raised his head furiously. Like a wounded animal, he lowered his eyes and roared, "Scram! Don't touch me!"

Obviously, the little girl didn't understand what he meant. Holding her neatly braided hair with her chubby little fingers, she asked in a daze, "Scram? You mean scrambled egg?"

Chapter 2 She Kissed Him!

Ryker was so stunned by her words that he didn't know how to respond to them. So he glared at the innocent little girl and snapped, "Just go away! Leave me alone!"

The little girl quickly understood this elder boy wasn't easy to get along with. Pursing her lips, she stepped back, determined to leave.

Once again, Ryker buried his handsome face in his knees and cried softly. He really missed his mother. Now that she was gone forever and a new woman would take her place as the hostess of the house, how could he ever go back to that strange place?

As she heard his sobs, the little girl stopped in her tracks, and hesitation flashed in her big innocent eyes. She bit her fingers and thought the good-looking boy seemed really sad.

Her mind spun fast, trying to figure out a way to make him stop crying.

Then something occurred to her. Just a moment ago, the boy did stop crying and yelled "scram". Maybe if she actually gave him this "scram" thing, he might be happy and stop sobbing at once.

But next, she was struggling again. She really had no idea what "scram" was supposed to mean.

'It must be like scrambling eggs in a pan, ' she thought with a silly smile on her innocent face. Suddenly, she remembered a time when her parents had a quarrel. Her mother also cried and yelled "scram". Then her father threw himself on the ground and started to roll. He looked so silly that her mother couldn't help bursting into laughter. After that, she wasn't angry with him anymore.

So the little girl went back slowly on her short legs and lay down on the grass beside Ryker. With a wicked smile on her face, she rolled back and forth while shouting at him, "Hey, don't cry! Look at me, look! I'm scrambling like you said. Stop crying, please."

At the sound of her voice, Ryker raised his head in confusion. At first, he was shocked by the scene in front of him, but then he burst into a laugh full of joy.

In her efforts to cheer him up, Kara Li continued to roll her chubby body back and forth on the grass. Soon her fine braids got tangled with some withered leaves, and her fair face became dirty.

For some reason, this hideous behavior of hers made him feel warm inside.

Despite being a neat freak, Ryker couldn't help but lean over and put the dusty Kara on his lap. With his slender fingers, he carefully removed the leaves stuck on her hair one by one.

Exhausted from rolling, Kara gasped for air. As she looked up at Ryker and saw the smile on his face, her eyes shone with delight. Carelessly, she touched his white shirt and left a black handprint on it, but he didn't seem to mind. She then said in a low voice, "You're smiling. Are you happy now?"

Ryker took a handkerchief out of his trousers pocket and wiped the dust off her face. Lowering his eyes, he answered softly, "Yes, I'm smiling. Is it that important to you?"

Kara didn't fully understand what he meant. Still, she nodded earnestly and said, "You look ugly when you cry!"

The word "ugly" shook Ryker's confidence. In order to save his image, he flashed her his most brilliant and charming smile. "What about this smile then? Do I look handsome now?"

His gorgeous smile almost made her drool. Kara's little face was full of admiration as she murmured, "Wow! You look so beautiful!"

At the sound of that, Ryker chuckled softly as his heart was filled with pride. For some unknown reason, the little girl's foolish expression didn't bother him at all. In fact, it amused him.

While he secretly savored the moment, he suddenly felt a soft kiss on his lips as a sweet candy-like fragrance invaded his nostrils. Ryker's eyes widened in disbelief.

What just happened? She kissed him!

Chapter 3 You Can't Eat Them!

When Kara was at home, and her father said that she was so beautiful, he would always give her a quick peck. Even her close relatives and friends did the same thing to her. That was why she abruptly kissed Ryker after saying that he was beautiful.

Over time, she had gotten used to the notion that if she found a person cute, she had to express it in a kiss.

She tilted her head and looked at him with curiosity in her eyes. Kara's big black eyes blinked a few times, and she smiled. The boy's mouth was so different from her father's. Her father's mouth was stinky, but this boy's mouth smelled like her favorite jelly.

Thinking about it, she felt a little hungry. What should she do? She really wanted to have a bite of his mouth.

In the end, she wasn't able to restrain herself. She slowly stuck out her little tongue and gently licked his moist thin lips.

Ryker's handsome face flushed in an instant. He was so stunned that he could only stare at her incredulously. Her mischievous audacity utterly surprised him. For a moment, he even forgot to push her away.

Kara licked his lips so hard. They got wet and glossy, looking even more attractive. She then suddenly bit them with her white teeth.

"Ouch!" Ryker winced in pain. He was at a loss. When he felt that she had no intention to loosen her bite, he quickly pushed her away and snapped, "Stop it! Why did you bite me?"

"What? I didn't bite you. I just wanted to have a taste of the jelly." Kara blinked innocently. She was in a daze, surprised that the jelly didn't seem to be sweet at all.

"You silly little fool! You bit my lips, not your cheap jelly!" Ryker shouted angrily while covering his wounded lips with both hands.

"I... I can't eat them?"

"Of course, you can't eat them! No way!"

"Oh... all right."

Kara pouted and turned her head away. Ryker sighed silently. He didn't know what to say. What was wrong with him? Why did he have to say it to her? She must be too young to understand his words.

He looked at her carefully. She had fair skin, and she was chubby. Her big eyes were black and round, while her eyelashes were long and naturally upturned. She was undoubtedly cute.

"Your name is Kara, right? How old are you?" he asked. He changed into a more comfortable position while still holding her chubby body in his arms.

Kara rested her chin in Ryker's arm and counted her chubby fingers carefully. She then raised her hand, showing three fingers to him. But soon, she added another finger to make them four.

Seeing that she was in a dilemma, he burst into laughter. He tapped her head with his slender fingers and said, "Ha-ha! Don't you know how old you are? Or you still don't know how to count?"

Ryker's teasing made Kara upset. She pouted and quickly replied, "I know how to count. I'm already in kindergarten. I'm three years and nine months old now. I just don't have enough fingers to count it."

"Ha-ha! You are so funny."

Ryker understood what she meant at once. She wanted to use her fingers to show that she was three years and nine months old. But she lacked two more fingers, so she had difficulty displaying the number to him. The corners of his mouth couldn't help but raise slightly. It arced so beautifully, making his handsome face look even more charming.

Why was this little Kara so adorable?

As he looked at her thoughtfully, some ideas started to pop up in his head. She was only three years old, so he was ten years older than her. Their age gap was not that big. After all, many girls nowadays liked mature men.

Utterly shocked by his own thoughts, Ryker shook his head.

What the heck was he thinking? He was actually imagining himself marrying little Kara when she grew up. Was he out of his mind today? He had to stop thinking of this crazy idea.
