Chapter 1 Who is he

Lisa's POV

I thought I wouldn't wake up early that morning, the previous day had been so hectic for me that I slept late.

I slowly yawned and got off the bed with a smile. Looking out through the window, I noticed people were already walking on the streets, it wouldn't take much time before the whole streets would be filled with people and it would make me slow in my search for a job.

I ran a comb through my hair and looked at myself in the mirror, Was I beautiful and unlucky? I chuckled at that thought.

Quickly, I undressed and entered the bathroom, at first the water seemed cold but as it touched my body, it became warm. I wasn't thinking straight, it has been five damn weeks on the streets looking for a job.

I came out of the bathroom with a smile, picking up my towel from the bed, I cleaned my body and wore a pant.

"When will I change this damn pant?" I asked myself in frustration.

"Lisa." I heard my mom yell my name and it could only mean trouble.

"Mom, I'll be downstairs soon." I shouted hoping she would hear and yes, she did hear but I didn't get the reply I expected from her.

"You lazy hag. Get down here quickly, the streets will be filled with people soon and you'll be late like yesterday." She shouted and I kept mute.

I just couldn't reply, I wore a white shirt and a blue jacket. I removed the jeans from my old but neat wardrobe and wore it.

I opened the door of my room and climbed down the stairs, dad smiled at me and I smiled back at him. "Good morning dad."I greeted with a smile.

"Ohh sweetheart, Good morning." He returned the greeting as he urged me to join him at the dinning table. I walked to the dinning and sat down.

Mom came out of the kitchen and served my food without a smile, obviously, she was not in a good mood and it didn't occur to me that I had not greeted her until she muttered a prayer after sitting down next to dad.

"Dear God, we appreciate you for this food and also Lord, May Lisa's future kids never eat at the dinning table without greeting her." She prayed and I winced.

Nobody said 'Amen' but she didn't care, she munched her food quietly.

"Good morning mother." I greeted.

"I thought you weren't going to greet me, your behavior sometimes is funny, once you're behaving like a good child, the next day, I'm wondering if I truly gave birth to you." She said and I frowned.

"Don't say so." Dad told her as she dipped her bread in her cup of tea and looked at him.

"But she behaves like a kid. She needs to know." Mom replied and drank her tea hurriedly.

I had certainly lost my appetite but it would be damn rude if I just left the table, I just ate silently as Dad stood up after eating and put on the TV.

I stole glances at the television to read the news. "Lisa." Mom called out looking at me with a stern face.

"Yes mom."

"Eat your food, it will get cold." She added and I nodded.

Just then, a handsome young man appeared on the television.

"Wow, he is cute." Mom muttered and my eyes widened. Dad looked at her in shock and one could have thought that she was cheating on my dad if not that she loved him.

"Mom" I called out shocked.

"What's bad in what I said, he's looking handsome and sexy, what's bad if I say he's cute besides I'm a married woman with two children, you and Jason." She reminded and I chuckled.

"Many of you are actually wondering why I sacked fifty workers in my company." The man on the television screen said and my eyes widened.

"Fifty?" Dad asked shocked.

"Maybe I heard five or just maybe he made a mistake". I answered with a smile.

"Isn't this Alex Taylor? Isn't he the owner of Taylor's corporate industries?." Dad asked.

"Of course". Mom answered.

"But shouldn't he be considerate, how can he sack a fifty workers at the same time, that's bad." Dad said angrily.

"I can never work in that organization, I will be afraid that I might not be useful to him again and he'll sack me."

"I don't have reasons for sacking them, it's my company and whoever wants to know my reason should seek answers from hell". Mr Alex said on TV and I winced.

"He's so arrogant." I muttered.

"What does he think he has?" Mom asked and I chuckled.

"He has a company, he's quite a handsome young billionaire and his company is the perfect place that I can work to get famous quickly." I said and Mom looked at me surprised.

"How?" She asked.

"He is into event planning and fashion designing, he was given the contract of planning the wedding of the president's daughter." I answered and mom grinned excitedly.

"That's really something he should boast of, I can now see why he is arrogant."

"I'm recruiting new staffs and I only need three, if you want to work in my organization, you don't need to fill any form, just come to my organization today." Mr Alex said on TV.

Mom and Dad looked at me with a smile.

I raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Why y'all looking at me smiling?" I asked in confusion.

"You should go to his organization and become his worker, he's really intelligent." Mom answered.

"And why should I do that?." I asked with a quizzed expression.

"With your beautiful face and talent, I'm sure he'll take you, have you forgotten what happened when you were still little, you brought up an idea for your aunt's wedding and she used your idea, it was splendid." Dad answered and I blushed.

"It's been long and I was a kid then, I can't really remember."

"I think you should go for this interview, I'm sure he will pick you, I'm sure, you're pretty." Mom said and I folded my hands.

"Mom, what does being pretty have to do with working in his company?" I asked.

"God didn't endow you with beauty only for it to be wasted." She reminded me and I nodded as I stood up. I yawned again and picked my bag from the chair.

"Ok, I'll be going to his organization, I'll make sure I don't flare up if he's rude to me because I hate arrogant people." I replied and mom nodded. I came out of the house and greeted our next door neighbor.

"Morning, Mr Douglas."

The old man smiled at me and waved his hand. "Morning, cute damsel." I heard him yell from his garden.

As I walked on the streets, people were pushing each other just to get to their various offices early.

Car owners hardly used the street because of the phobia of accidents, three people met their deaths in that street in just one week. They were knocked over by different cars.

They died while being rushed to the hospital and I dreaded the Macbeth street. Well, it didn't take time because I was pushed too and I fell to the ground. Standing up quickly, I pushed another person. The people seemed to find it hilarious and comfortable to push other people but I didn't find it funny.

I took a bike to his organization after I successfully reached the junction.

Chapter 2 She slapped the billionaire

Alex's POV

____________

I looked at James as he scribbled down something on my jotter. "You're seriously having a problem." I said and he frowned.

"Well, you're the one having a problem and I'm helping you solve it." He replied and placed the jotter on my table.

"I don't have a problem." I said to him and kept the jotter back in my drawer.

"You don't want to fall in love, that's your problem." He said to me and I let out a grin.

"That's my problem, not yours."

"I care, don't you get it, I want you to have a girlfriend, it would really help you relax, you've been busy lately." He explained and I chuckled.

"Thanks for your concern but I'm honestly not interested."

"Well, since you don't care, I have nothing to lose besides, I use and dump girls." He said.

"You should stop all those things." I advised and he picked up a document from my table.

"Drop it," I ordered and he dropped it immediately. "I'm still your boss." I reminded and he laughed.

"I got you this job and you're now my boss, it's really sad." He said.

"I'm sorry for the way I ordered you, I just don't like people going through my things and prying into my personal life."

"Have you seen the letter from Naomi Mandel?" I asked changing the topic. I nodded with a smile.

"Yes"

"So how about you? What's going on with you lately? You've been acting weird and quiet."

"It's Maggie." James replied with a frown and I raised my eyebrows in surprised.

"And what about her?" I asked.

"She caught me sleeping with another lady." He answered and my eyes widened. I pretended not to hear that all though I did. I just placed the files back into the cabinet and managed to stop myself from laughing because I felt like smacking his face for cheating on her.

"She was such a nice lady." I said with a smirk.

"That isn't what I expected you to say."

He replied and I rolled my eyebrows in surprise. Of course, that wasn't the right thing to say but I just didn't have the urge to meddle in his business.

"What do you expect? A closing remark or a speech, I'm not a motivational speaker." I reminded and he laughed.

"Are you really taking sides with her?" He asked taking a paper from my table.

"Put that down," I ordered again and he dropped it immediately. "I'm not taking sides with anyone, I'm only stating the obvious." I added and picked up my phone from the table.

"Seriously?" He asked with a confused expression. I chuckled and walked out of my office. As I walked down the stairs, all the workers scurried to their seats after they saw me. I laughed and walked out of the organization.

I loved instilling fear on them, they obviously feared me and would not be able to challenge me. My driver opened the car door for me and I entered sitting down comfortably.

"Where should we go now?" Mr Larry, the driver asked and I looked at him with anger.

"We should probably go to your funeral." I answered. "Take me home." I ordered and picked up a document, I flipped through the pages if I would see any idea for an event.

I didn't even know when the driver stopped in front of my house, I was engrossed in analysing the documents. He drove into the compound and I came out of the car and walked into the house.

"Alex, you're back home early." Oliver said hugging me.

Oliver was my younger brother, he was this troublesome and annoying brother that made my life difficult but he also had this sense of humor that I loved. He actually said he liked older women and we laughed about it, I didn't even know if it was a joke or not.

"I'll be going back to the office soon, I just wanted to check on you since Mrs Rosalie traveled." I replied and he looked at me with a smirk.

"I am not a kid, I can cope on my own, I don't need your help." He scoffed.

"You won't understand until you get this house burnt, you're my younger brother even though you're 26 years and I have authority over you." I reminded.

"How many times do you have to remind me that you're my eldest brother?" He asked and I leaned on the wall.

"I'm sorry." I apologized, I was probably in a bad mood but he didn't notice it.

"So how's your girlfriend?" He asked.

I looked at him and chuckled as I sat on the chair.

"I don't have a girlfriend." I answered and saw his sober face.

"You don't have a girfriend and I have already, you need to get a girlfriend. I can't wait to have someone call me uncle." He said and I rolled my eyes nudging him with an elbow.

"I don't think uncle fits you, you should be a gardener." I joked and he threw his phone at me. I caught it with one hand and laughed. "I wish I didnt catch it, I'm sure you know what would have happened to it."

"And you call yourself a good brother?" He asked.

"Well, I'm good but not perfect, there's a difference though." I answered and took a glass of water from the tray on the dinning table.

"I'm really hungry, why don't we go and grab lunch before you go to your office." He suggested.

"No, I'll eat in my office cafeteria, I don't like going out with you. I always end up being embarrassed each time I go out with you." I said and he laughed.

He brought out his phone and checked the map. He looked at me and smiled, then faced my driver. "Mr Larry, drive me to a nearby cafeteria, I'm hungry." He ordered and my driver looked at me.

"No problem, I'll drive my car, you can use the other car to take him anywhere he wants to go, even to hell." I said and walked out of the house.

I entered my car and drove off. I had to focus on driving but I couldn't. I hated driving and the notifications on my phone couldn't let me think properly. I mistakenly splashed mud on a woman who grew angry and threw a stone in my direction.

I parked the car and got down. "You can throw the stained cloth and get new ones." I said and she slapped me.

To be continued

Who do you think slapped Mr Alex?

Chapter 3 He is in trouble

Lisa's POV

The bike dropped me in front of his organisation and I let out a silent sigh. I paid the bike man and walked into the organization, my heart pounding, I was never this scared.

I wanted to climb the stairs when a man called me, he couldn't be more than four years older than me.

"Good morning sir." I greeted. He was tall, blond, broad-shouldered and also looking good. He blinked at me and I blushed.

"You look beautiful." He complimented.

I didn't smile again, it was obvious he was a flirt, he looked at me lustfully.

"Thanks."

"I'm James Highmore, a friend of Alex who's the CEO of this company." He replied with pride.

"Ohh, that's nice, I brought my credentials, I want to work in this company but I'm scared, I don't know if Mr Alex will be willing to take me in." I said and he grinned at me.

I felt my pulse flutter in response.

"Well, I don't think he needs to look at your credentials, since you're a beautiful lady, I'll help you secure this job." He replied.

"Ohh, thank you for your help sir." I appreciated with a smile.

"Uhh, miss pretty, you still haven't told me your name." He reminded and I let out a slight chuckle.

"Lisa, my name's Lisa Montes."

"What a beautiful name for a beautiful lady." He commended.

"Thank you sir, I must be on my way now."

"No, you can't just go like that, Just give me your credentials, I don't want Alex to be annoyed that I didn't get your credentials but I'll help you get this job, I'm sure." He promised.

I handed him the documents and smiled.

"Will you like to have coffee in my office?" He asked and I raised an eyebrow in shock.

"I don't think so sir."

"Do you feel insecure around me?" He asked and I flinched a little.

"No sir"

"Call me James, I feel more comfortable when I'm called James." He said and I nodded.

"Ok sir, I ...... me...mean James." I stammered.

"Now," He said and paused. "Won't you be a good girl and follow me to my office." He added and I followed him to his office.

I sat down and looked at his office, he was really a dirty man with scruffy papers on his desk. He took two white mugs which almost turned brown and opened the freezer door automatically putting his free hand to push the large glass-covered pot on the top of the fridge...

He scooped ice into the mugs and carefully closed the freezer door.

"Do you drink?" Ryan asked.

"No, I don't." I answered.

"Okay, so where do you live?" He asked.

I wondered if it wasn't early to ask personal questions. I pondered for a little bit.

"I stay with my parents." I answered and he raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"Isn't it a little bit awkward that you still live with your parents, don't you have a boyfriend?" He asked and my eyes thinned in fear.

"I don't have a boyfriend." I answered.

"I also don't have a girlfriend." He said and it turned into laughter, I was irritated but I managed to smile. "That means that we can pair, I think God made me see you first for this reason." He added.

I nodded. "Actually my parents plan to arrange a marriage for me with a rich man." I lied and he frowned.

"Do you love the rich man?" He asked quickly.

"I don't even know what I'm feeling." I answered, of course I knew how I was feeling, I felt like kicking his balls and sending him a punch in his face.

"Maybe you love his money." He insulted and I stood up.

"I don't love his money and I'm not..." I froze immediately, if I needed the job, I needed to be nice also and control the urge to punch him. "Actually, I should get going, my mom has an appointment with the doctor today and you know, mothers could be more dramatic." I replied and walked out of the door.

I ran out of the organization and heaved a sigh, it was already in the afternoon, I stopped in a taxi and slowly hopped in.

.Alex.

_______________

I walked into the organization after I had parked my car in the garage. I went straight to my office and sat down, I heaved a sigh, I was too busy to even think of Naomi Mendel's event.

The door opened and James walked in. "Where did you go?" He asked.

"I went back home to freshen up." I answered.

"My girlfriend came here looking for a job." He said and I chuckled.

"What's her name?" I asked.

"Lisa Kendrick." He answered and I let out a grin.

"Doesn't sound like she's your girlfriend, I mean I don't know her." I said and he grinned.

"Well, I plan on making her my girlfriend anytime soon, please give her this job, I'm begging you." He said and I nodded.

"Fine, I don't need to check her credentials since you want her to work here, tell my secretary to prepare a letter of appointment for her." I replied and he nodded.

"Thank you so much." He appreciated.

"Anything for you man, I accidentally splashed mud on an old lady while I was coming to the office, she cursed me and ran away." I said and he laughed. "What's funny? If I accidentally see that old lady, I'll send her to jail, I still know her face." I added.

"You're lucky she didn't throw stones at your car, it happened to me once, the old lady wasted no time in throwing a stone at my car." He chipped in.

"I'm having a slight headache, it's just like I should go back and sleep besides it's getting late." I said.

"Should I take your home?" He asked.

"No, I don't want to bother you." I answered with a smile, of course I wanted someone to drive me home but I pretended.

"I'll drive you home, say no more." He said and my phone rang. The caller ID showed that it was my personal doctor, I hurriedly picked the phone call.

"Hello, Mr Alex, we have a serious issue, the woman whom you splashed mud on her dress has reported you to the cops and an eyewitness has sent the video to the public," He said and paused. "You should probably open Twitter on your phone, you're trending with the hashtag, #arrestalex." He added.

"Then fix it, create lies to tell the public, tell that I'm sick." I ordered.

"There's a problem, the woman has fainted and she is at our hospital, the public won't believe your eyes because this is not the first time this has happened." He said and my heart raced. I took a few steps backwards in shock.
