Witches and werewolves have always been at odds with each other. The two creatures of nature could never coexist. The werewolves thought that the witch's magic was an abomination. The witches see the werewolves as weak.
It was rumored that a werewolf, an Alpha, murdered the head of the witch coven and forcibly mated with her spawn causing war to break out between the two races. A war that persisted for decades.
While the werewolf could reproduce faster, witches were not capable of breeding like that causing them a tremendous loss. After so many years, the werewolves came out victorious.
As the last witch fell, she swore that they would return and take away the thing the werewolves loved the most.
The werewolves didn't go unscathed either. Those who participated in the war were scarred for life, doomed to be a Savage, creatures without any sense of reasoning.
The offspring of the Alpha and the Witch turned into a Seer. Seer Amarynth. A hybrid.A prophecy was made centuries ago by her. It was foreseen that a child with powers equivalent to the moon goddess would be born. One who would either bring the werewolf race to a whole other level or destroy them.
Eighteen years ago, half of the world's strongest Pack was wiped out overnight by Savages. Rogues who have lost all sense of reason, who only knew how to kill and eat. They were rare but that night, an inhumane number of them plowed the soil of the Red Crescent Pack, bodies dropping as they went.It was an unexpected attack.
The Pack wasn't adequately wasn't prepared. They couldn't fight against a horde of blood-tasty Savages. All the male adults were mobilized and they fought. When they dropped, the female adults went into the battle next.Of course, Red Crescent Park won being the strongest. The few of them left hunted and killed every one of those Savages for days without stopping but their thirst for revenge would not repair the damage the rogues had caused.
Their Alpha and Luna died along with every other person who joined the fight leaving the Pack to a bunch of children to govern.
With the memory still fresh, these children passed through brutal training and tests to become stronger. They underwent experiments and drank poisons until they became another breed of werewolves. They call them the Terminators.
They were the fastest, strongest, scariest werewolves on earth. They could bring down an entire city without shifting.
Recently, more attacks have risen from different Packs in the world. Women, especially pregnant ones were being murdered at an alarming rate.
When these rogues were captured, they all whispered something before they died.
"Destroy the child."
Rumors say they are after the child of prophecy. The question is why?
The forest rustled as they ran. Silvia looked to her left and right. She was alone. She could have sworn her elder brother was right beside her a while ago. He must have run ahead leaving her behind. Damn alpha.
She did not stop to scrutinize her surroundings. She knew was still in her pack. She hadn't crossed the border yet.
The air around her smelt of blood, rogues, and smoke. Everything she hated. She could feel the heat behind her. It had intensified, scorching her. The once-clear forest was covered in clouds of smoke, making it difficult to see. Her eyes stung.
Their pack, Red Crescent, was attacked while they gathered for a pack meeting. They set their houses ablaze. Stupid rogues. How did they even get into the pack undetected? Did they think they could take over the strongest pack in the city!
They were fighting machines, trained to kill. Some measly rogues could not fight them. This was the doing of an insider. That snitch was dead meat.
A howl resonated through the air. Another Pack member had died and It couldn't have been the rogues who did it. They were too weak to murder anyone of them.
It was the fire. That darn fire. Silvia watched it swallow a house in seconds, burning down everything it touched. It looked... alive. That was when chaos ensued and everybody scampered to safety.
"Let me go!" Silvia skidded to a stop and examined her surroundings. She was at the border of her pack. She crouched down and crept to a bush. She smelt five rogues and a pup. Was it one of her pack members? No, it couldn't be. "I want my mummy."
"Shut that pup up." One of the rogues growled. They were armed to the teeth. Silvia could spot silver knives with them and arrows. She wondered where they got arrows in the twenty-first century.
They were prepared for a fight.
"We can't hurt him, Cynthia's orders." A tall dark rogue replied. He was holding a cute little boy in his arms, he should be about five years old.
Cynthia? Of course, it would be her. That snitch. Silvia always hated her. Something about that girl just smelt fishy. She picked fights, bullied people weaker than her, tried to seduce the alpha, when he had a mate, and was mated to a rogue.
A Savage to be precise but she still insisted he join the pack even though she knew he was a potential threat. When the alpha refused, she went ballistic. Silvia honestly felt sorry for her at that time, everyone did. They offered to take him to a healer but she refused.
'My mate won't be used as an experiment,' she said. They should have killed them when they had the chance, now see what happened.
"Why are we taking orders from a woman? Does she think she is better than us because she came up with a shitty plan? Half of my men are dead because of her. If she had told us about Red Crescent defense, we would not have lost so miserably but thank God we have this little fellow." He said referring to the child in his arms.
He tried to pat the child's head but the pup bit him. The rogue growled loudly, his claws extended from his hands. He was going to hit the child. If he did, it would leave a nasty scar on his cute face. Silvia had to do something.
She surveyed her surroundings. If she acted fast, she could take all five of them. Without making much sound, in the blink of an eye, she snapped the neck of the rogue closest to her. This alerted the rest.
"It's a terminator." The dark rogue exclaimed, pointing at Silvia. They backed away from her in fear making Silvia smirk. Yes, they ought to be afraid because they were dead men walking.
"Let the child go," she told them.
"Do you think you can take the four of us on your own? Really?" The same rogue laughed when he saw she was alone.
"I think I can," she stalked closer to them, flexing her arms. Two of them pointed their arrows at her while the others brought out their knives. She watched that dark rogue drop the child beside a tree, a rookie mistake in their path. Now she could kill them without restraint.
She dodged the first arrow shot her way. She extended her claws and swiped the neck of the rogue closest to her, ripping his throat out. Rogues were weak.
She jolted in pain when she felt a sting on her left shoulder, an arrow was embedded in it. She went after the rogue who shot her. He swiped at her with his silver knife but she dodged it, smashing his face with her fist. She winced when she felt teeth pierce her skin, one of the rogues had transformed.
She kicked the wolf off her only to be shot by another rogue yet again. She stabbed her hands into the chest of the rogue whose face she smashed and brought out his beating heart then threw it away in disgust.
As she turned to face the other two rogues, chills went down their spines as they could taste their imminent death. The rogue in his human form lunged for the child with his knife but she acted fast and blocked the blow. She was stabbed in the stomach instead. She cringed in pain as she felt the the poison from the silva creep into her veins but she wasn't going to give up yet.
She pulled the knife from her stomach and jabbed it into the rogue's neck. Seeing this, the last rogue in wolf form tried to run away. She picked up a bow from the ground and aimed at him. It pierced through its skull. She stared at the bodies around her before collapsing on the forest ground. The exhaustion finally sank in.
There were two arrows with wolfsbane stuck in her back, her left leg was bleeding profusely, and she was stabbed. Not to mention the annoying cloud of smoke making it difficult to breathe. If she didn't get the poison out of her body fast, she would die soon.
"Miss, are you okay?" The little boy whispered, his eyes shimmering with tears. His blue eyes were so pure that she could see her reflection in them.
"Don't worry, I'm fine." she patted his head gently with a smile that resembled a grimace. "Where did you come from and why are you here?"
"I am from the Silver Moon pack. Those men took me when my nanny was asleep." He muttered.
"What's your name?"
"Jamie."
"Jamie, who are your parents?"
"Alpha Peter and Luna Grace. They went to the party and then some strange men came into my room and took me."
Her eyes widened in surprise. Silver Moon pack was their neighboring pack. The largest pack in the city, mostly because they welcomed rogues who stumbled into their territory. Their pack was so-called kind and peaceful.
Silvia scoffed. How weak was the Silver Moon pack's defense that rogues could sneak in and kidnap their future Alpha? Why would rogues steal their future Alpha of the only pack that tolerates them though?
"Okay, let us get you back home, buddy." she stood and picked him up. Thankfully, he wasn't heavy. "You have to be quiet, okay. I don't think I can fight off any more rogues." He nodded and they started walking.
Every step she took felt like death. It felt like a thousand needles were pricking her skin. The pain blurred her vision. If not for the harsh training she had undergone all these years, she would have been dead by now. Wolfsbane and silver alone could not kill her but when combined, not even the strongest wolf would go unscathed. Not to mention the amount of blood she had lost and the darn fire burning behind them.
"Miss, are you sure you are okay? Don't die." Jamie whimpered, hugging her neck gently.
"I won't die." she had no confidence in her words.
She stopped walking when she heard someone running towards her. She froze and prepared to attack but she released a breath when she caught the scent of the person approaching. It was Selena, her brother's mate and also the Luna of the Red Crescent pack. Her brown hair fluttered in the wind as she ran. The rims of her blue eyes were dyed red, indicating she was trying to control her wolf. She had some scratches here and there but she looked fairly okay. The rogues she fought probably were not with weapons.
"Silvia, what happened? You look terrible." Her voice was laced with worry.
"Rogues." Silvia managed to voice out. "Take him. That's Alpha Peter's son. He was kidnapped." she handed Jamie over to her.
"Why would rogues kidnap Alpha Peter's son?" Selena voiced in confusion. Unfortunately, Silvia was just as confused as she was. Selena's eyes then glazed over. She was mind-linking someone.
"Joshua is in Silver Moon pack. There is a situation over there."
"Take him and go. I will catch up."
"Are you sure? You need a healer."
"He is more important. You have to go."
Selena hesitated, "I will come back for you." She said before sprinting off.
Silvia sat back down on the forest ground to catch her breath. She wasn't going to die without seeing the last of this fight.
Theodore sipped his glass of champagne, lazily. His eyes skimmed through the room again. There was a snack table at one corner of the room, the orchestra was playing an excruciating slow song on the stage that park members were dancing to in the center of the room. They were all dressed in classy attire as the Luna requested. Theodore hated it but couldn't refute it. It was her party after all.
Theodore walked to the snack table, dodging all the unmated ladies who wanted to dance. He was not about to make the mistake of falling in love again.
The last time he allowed himself to fall in love, it didn't end well. The reminder was staring at him in the face from across the hall. Abigail Mills, hands laced with another man.
He bit into a cupcake and smiled in relish. It was delicious. He was about to go for another one when the Alpha's loud voice boomed through the room.
"Good day everyone," Alpha Peter exclaimed to get everyone's attention. The music stopped and everyone turned to him.
"I and the Luna would like to make an important announcement. Some of you may be wondering the purpose of this feast and some of you may already know the reason," Alpha Peter chuckled. Some pack members were staring at him in anticipation. Theodore rolled his eyes. Peter was too dramatic. "Well, it is an honor to inform you that your Luna, my mate, is pregnant with our second pup."
Cheers filled the room. Some pack members stepped forward to congratulate the Alpha and Luna. Theodore was happy for his friend. He knew how much Peter and Grace wanted a second child. He was glad he finally got it.
"Beta Theodore," Theodore turned and saw the Seer Olive walking towards him. She was an old woman with a head filled with white hair. Her granddaughter, Rhea, the next seer was assisting her to walk. "Beta Theodore, I am sorry that will happen to you." She patted his shoulder.
Theodore stared at her, confused. "What will happen?"
"In due time, my boy. In due time." She murmured and left. Theodore glanced at Rhea for explanation but the little girl only gave him a sad smile in return.
Theodore was shaken by what happened. A seer's words were not to be taken lightly. Seers were a mix of werewolves and witches. When a werewolf is mated to a witch, a seer is born, but this was not a common occurrence which made seers rare.
A seer had the common traits of werewolves like sharp senses and reflexes but they did not have a wolf. They could also see the future and heal basic injuries like witches but they could not cast powerful spells, so they were not a threat.
Seer Olive was mated to a pack warrior who died in a rogue attack a few years ago. Her only daughter, who was supposed to be the next seer of the pack, died from a strange illness a while back, leaving her with Rhea. Rhea's father was a warrior and was still alive.
"What did Seer Olive say to you?" Theodore turned and saw his mother in a sparkling dress, his father was right behind her. She caressed his face. He could see worry in her eyes.
"Nothing to worry about." He reassured her.
"Are you sure? You looked disturbed."
"Lizzy, he said he is fine. He is a grown man, he can take care of himself." Theodore's father, William, interjected. "He is twenty-one for God's Sake."
"Shush," Lizzy hushed her husband before turning back to her son. "Why didn't you tell me that Luna was pregnant? I know you knew."
"I'm sorry. The Alpha wanted it to be a secret."
"When are you going to find your mate? I want to hold my grandchildren too. Just look at how Sophia is beaming with pride." She said pointing at the former Luna, the Alpha's mother, who had a wide smile plastered on her face.
"I will find her... soon." He said, hesitantly. Honestly, he didn't want to meet his mate soon. It would just make his life more complicated right now. How could he focus on his mate when he was in love with another?
"Good." Just as Lizzy finished speaking, a loud screech was heard. Everyone turned to the entrance to see a hazard-looking Helen standing by the door. Helen was a pack member who loved children. She loved watching over them and tonight, she was supposed to be watching over James, the Alpha's son.
"Rogues," Helen yelled. "They took Jamie." With that, the whole room turned upside down. Everyone started running haywire. All the pups were at home, so parents were running to their houses to make sure that their children were safe.
'All the women and children to the pack house now.' Peter boomed through the mind-link. Everybody ran out of the room. "Trackers get ready!"
Theodore followed the crowd out. He was about to transform and join the search but stopped when two people walked out of the forest, a boy and a girl. The boy was a rogue, a Savage, and the origin of the girl was unknown though she did not smell like a rogue.
Peter growled at them, "What are you doing in my territory?"
"We come in peace. We don't plan to attack your pack but we have your son." The girl said. Everybody growled at her. How did the rogues enter into their territory? What happened to the warriors? "We don't mean any harm. We just need protection."
"Give me my son right now or I will rip you into shreds," Grace growled. From the looks of it, she was trying to control her wolf. Alpha Peter held her back. They would have attacked already if they weren't using Jamie as leverage. These rogues were smart.
"Where is my son and how did you manage to cross our borders?" Peter asked calmly this time.
"We injected your warriors with wolfsbane," Pack members growled at her for that. Wolfsbane was poisonous. It could kill an average wolf in hours. "It was only a small dose. If you reach them in time, you can still save them. As for your son, he is safe with my men and will remain safe if you agree to our demands."
"And what is that?"
'Are you really negotiating with them?' Theodore's mind linked Alpha Peter.
'I don't have a choice, Theo. They have Jamie.'
Alpha Peter replied in agitation. He didn't like the situation either. It infuriated him.
"We need protection from Red Crescent Pack." The girl said.
"No, leave my territory before I slit your throat open." Alpha Peter yelled. The Red Crescent Park wasn't to be messed with. If they were after these people, then they were as good as dead.
"If you kill me, you won't see your son's body to bury."
Theodore took back his words. These wolves weren't smart, they were flat-out stupid. Don't ever threaten an Alpha, it won't end well.
"What did you just say?" Peter stalked closer to them. The pack members were preparing themselves to fight but they stopped when they smelt another person coming from the forest. The shadow clapped his hands slowly before revealing himself to the light. The two intruders backed away in fright when they saw who it was.
"Alpha Peter, I am so sorry for the commotion here today. I will be taking these two from your hands now. We have unfinished business."
Everybody recognized the man covered in blood. He was Alpha Joshua in all his glory. He was a tall man, with average muscles, and an incredibly handsome face but don't let his physique deceive you. He was as dangerous as he was handsome.
"Do you agree to our demands or not?!" The girl yelled at Peter.
"Cynthia, Cynthia, Cynthia," Alpha Joshua sang. "Is that any way to talk to an Alpha? Let's go home now. You have caused enough trouble."
"I am sorry, Alpha Joshua but this girl cannot go with you," Peter spoke up.
"And why is that?"
"She has my son."
