Princess Bellamy

The sun cast it's ray on the lonely lands. Yes it was lonely, the King of the land had just died and every living thing was mourning for the loss of their dear king. The castle ground were worse as no single sound could be heard.

King Cassius was a free spirited and just king and his death was a great loss to the kingdom. He was the best king Crusta had ever had in it's history. While he was on the throne, he bore three children with his lovely wife, the Queen Minerva, two princes and a princess.

The maids filed to the queen's room to prepare her for her mourning rites. The king was going to be buried in the next two hours.

The head maid knocked gently on the door and the Queen forced herself to order them in. " Your Majesty . " The head maid, Melinda said and bowed her head and the other maids followed suit. " It is time for your bath."

" Do I need to take a bath to bury my husband?" The Queen sniffed and the head maid sighed.

" Leave us. " She said to the other maids who came with her. She walked towards the queen after they had left and she held her hands. " Your Majesty. You've locked yourself in here for days. You've refused to eat anything and you've only taken your bath twice since the king died. "

" Do I have to take a bath to mourn my husband? "

" I understand how you feel your Majesty but the king is dead. He's not coming back. He wouldn't be happy if he sees you like this. Do you want the king to be restless in his grave? "

" Is he? "

" Yes. He'll only be at peace when he knows that his queen is still strong and fighting. " Melinda said with a huge smile and the queen chuckled lightly.

" Thank you Melinda. You've always been a huge help to the royal family. I'll like to take my bath now if you'd please. " Queen Minerva said.

In the princess's room, her personal maids were dressing her up in preparation for the funeral.

" Sorry to interrupt young ladies but I really need to talk to my sister. " The second prince, Sebastian said and the maids bowed their heads before walking out of the room.

" What a lovely surprise dear brother!" Bellamy said and stood up.

" You look beautiful. " Sebastian said with a smile.

" It's father's funeral. I'm not supposed to look beautiful. "

" You're the princess. You should always look beautiful. "

" Tch. A princess who's never stepped her foot out of the castle. Sometimes I was born a commoner or a boy like you and brother. Maybe I would be able to go out of the castle grounds whenever I wish and explore the king's town. " She sighed and he hugged her.

" Whatever out parents did is for your own protection. You're the one and only princess. " Sebastian said and she smiled.

" Thank you. You always find a way to lift my spirit. " She said and pecked his lips.

" Do you want me to leave? "

" Yes. That's a sign for you to leave. "

" That hurts. I was thinking my little sister would want to spend some time with me before the funeral. "

" Why would I do that? I need to be sober so I don't loose control. And I'm not your little sister, I came out first. "

" You won't loose control. " He held her shoulders and she sighed.

" That didn't help much last week. " She faked a smile.

" I'll see you at the cemetery. " He said and pecked her forehead before leaving.

The bells were rung and the royal family filed out preparing to go the cemetery. It was an old cemetery near the castle where only the royals were buried, their ashes were oftentimes buried there. It was built in form of a cave and could only be accessed by a member of the royal family.

" Where is your sister?" Queen Minerva asked when she came downstairs only to find her two sons waiting.

" She was on her way. " Prince Sebastian said.

" I'll go check on her , your Majesty. " The first prince, Archer said.

" No need. I'll go myself. You boys wait here. " The Queen said and walked back upstairs. She got to her daughter's room and she heard muffled sound coming from inside. She hurriedly opened the door and saw her in a pool of fire.

" Bellamy!" She exclaimed as she quickly quenched the fire with water.

" I lost control." Bellamy sobbed and she pulled her in a tight hug.

" I lost control of my emotions. Mother, I can't go down there. What would happen if I loose control again?" She sobbed and the queen sighed.

" You'll be fine. You'll have me to quench what ever thing you throw. " The Queen said and she chuckled.

" I wish father was here. " She sniffed.

" Me too. Now we need to put him to rest and we need your powers. " The Queen said and she smiled.

" Do you think I can pull it off? "

" Yes. "

Queen Minerva was able to persuade her to come out and they all went together as a royal family to the cemetery. The king's body was laid at the corner of the cemetery. The Lords and Ladies of the court were already there. The priest began and said some burial rites and he signalled the princess when he was done.

" You can do this." The Queen whispered and she sighed.

Bellamy let go off all her emotions and her hands formed a fist of fire which she sent to her father's body. It started burning immediately and she quenched the fire in her hands.

" Told you. " The Queen said and hugged her while she sobbed on her shoulders. Every member of the royal family had a special power of their own. Some few other families who were not from royalty also had powers but their power was limited.

Weeks passed and the kingdom was back to it's former glory. It seems like everyone had forgotten about the passing of their great king. The men of the court were pushing for the coronation of a new king but the Queen refused under the claim that her son was not ready to rule.

Today was another day for a meeting to deliberate on the bearer of the crown. The whole hall was in chaos before the Queen stepped in and the moment she stepped into the hall, it became silent.

" Thank you, my Lords. " She said as she sat on the highest seat.

" Proceed with the meeting. " The highest member of the court said.

" Well there's not much to be said. I've already come to a decision. "

" And that is? "

" Until my firstborn son is ready to rule, I, Queen Minerva Renee Cassius Storm would rule in my son's stead. " She proclaimed with a smirk.

" Impossible! "

" This is outrageous."

" And why is that Lord Arry? Is it because you perhaps are seeking a place on the throne? I am a member of the royal family and I am the Queen! My decision is final. Until my son is ready to rule, I shall rule in his stead. " She said and waved her hand. " This meeting is adjourned. " She said and the men of the court left grumbling under their breathes.

" Your Majesty." Prince Archer said and bowed his head slightly.

" No need for the formalities Archer. You're in my presence. " The Queen scoffed.

" Thank you mother. " He said with a wide smile.

" Don't thank me. Thank your stars that the Lord Balor is in agreement with me. Since we have his support, you can live your life and have fun while it lasts. I'm only doing this because I know the burden that comes with the throne and I do not want you to carry that burden at such a young age. When you think you're ready to rule, you know where to find me. " She said and stood up.

" I will. "

" I'm tired. I'll see you at lunch. " She said and walked out.

" Escaping your rights now dear brother? " Bellamy teased as she walked in.

" I'm not ready to rule. On second thoughts. You could rule in my stead. It would only be fair since you were father's favorite. " He winked.

" Oh please if I was father's favorite , he wouldn't lock me up and make me feel bad about myself all day. " She shrugged.

" He was only protecting you. "

" Yeah, right. "

" I'm bored. I wish I could take you to town with me. "

" I'll be busy sketching diagrams so I don't think it's possible. " She sighed. " Well I'm off. Have fun at the king's town. " She said and walked out of the hall.

" We could sneak her out. " Sebastian said behind him.

" Are you mad? What if she loses control? "

" You have water magic. You could quench it. "

" What if she doesn't use fire? "

" I have the power to control one's mind, I could make her stop."

" Really and how has that worked out for you lately? " He smirked and Sebastian grunted.

" I just wish she could be free. " He sighed.

" She will be when it's the right time. "

" When she's old and frail?. Is that the right time? "

" Relax brother. The princess is only just nineteen. She'll be fine. "

" I wish she's not as powerful as she is. "

" Everyone wishes that. She has a lot of burden to carry. "

" Talking about Bellamy makes me want to cry. I was going horse riding. Wanna come along? "

" Sure. "

Bellamy went back to her room to continue sketching since it was the only thing she could do in the castle. She opened the side windows and the breeze blew her silk hair sideways.

Bellamy was the most beautiful maiden in the land of Crusta. Her dark silk hair which had tiny strands of red complimented her milk skin. She had green eyes like her mother and dark hair like her grandmother.

" You look just like my mother. In her time, she was also the most beautiful maiden in Crusta. " The king would always tell her. She couldn't meet her grandmother cause she died from an unknown disease. She met her grandfather but he died when she was three.

" Your Highness. " Her most closest maid, Mariam said as she walked into the room.

" What is it Mariam?" She asked without turning back.

" You have a visitor. " Mariam said and she turned.

" Who is it? "

" Where's my Bell? Belly?" Her cousin Arleta screamed walking in. Arleta was a free spirited and wayward lady. One would think she was not a member of the royal family at first glance. She changed a lot after her last fall out with the prince of Garvania.

" Arleta." Bellamy said and hugged her. " Leave us. " She said to Mariam who bowed her head before leaving.

" How's my favorite cousin doing?" She asked and pecked her cheeks.

" I'm great. It's been ages since I last saw you. "

" Same here. I was passing by so I thought I could check up on my cuzzy. "

" Ouch! That hurts. "

" I'm just kidding. I'm spending the whole summer here." She said and Bellamy beamed happily.

" Yay! It would be less boring in the castle. "

" It's always boring in the castle. To think of it, you've never really gone out. Not even to school. "

" None of us have gone out for schooling. Mostly home schooling. "

" I get that. Schooling at home is very boring. "

" You wish. " She said and they both laughed.

" I didn't see the prince's on my way in. Did they perhaps leave the castle? "

" No. I think they went horse riding. "

" I love a good horse ride. " Arleta said and pulled her up. " Grab your gears. We're going after the boys. " She said and Bellamy giggled. She went into her closet and changed into a riding wear and helmet.

" Why do you need a helmet?"

" I'm a princess. I can't ride a horse without one. " She smiled.

" I should wear one two. We'll be like twins. " She said and giggled. " I know you have a twin already but he's a guy and I'm a lady. "

" Yeah. We could. "

After dressing up, they went to the stables where the horses were kept and Bellamy was given her horse. It was a white stallion, a very strong and not so friendly horse. It only recognizes the princess and other members of the royal family including Arleta.

" Hey Winter." Arleta said as she patted it's mane and it neighed happily.

" He seems to like you more than me. " Bellamy pouted.

" That's because I always come with special gift. " She said and gave it an apple which it happily ate.

" He never accepts apples from me. Maybe I should try something else." She said and Arleta giggled.

" Maybe. " She said as they both mounted their horses.

They rode towards the valley hoping to meet the boys there and luckily they were still there. " Glad we caught you." Arleta said breathlessly.

" Lady Arleta. " Archer smiled.

" Don't lady me. I'm your cousin." She rolled her eyes.

" Someday your eyes might fall off as a result of rolling them too often. " Sebastian teased and they laughed.

" Very funny. " She said as she came down from the horses. " It's been months since I rode a horse. Bellamy, you were just too fast. "

" I've always been fast. " She shrugged as she tied her horse to a tree nearby. " We should just spend some time at the valley. "

" That was actually the plan. We wanted to spend some time here. " Archer said and Sebastian sighed.

" What is it? " Bellamy said and he smiled.

" Nothing. "

" You wanted to go to the city? You can. I don't want to hold you back. "

" No Bells. You're not holding us back. We could explore the family together like we used to when we were younger. " Sebastian said and she smiled.

" Thank you. " She said and pecked his lips.

" Stupid tradition. " Arleta grumbled.

" It's not stupid. It's just a peck. "

" It should be on the lips. " She said as they all sat on the grass.

" The royal family had always been awkward." Archer chuckled.

" Like forcing cousins to get married. " Sebastian scoffed.

" That was in the past. I'm not sure that would ever happen again. "

" It might if they see the need to keep the blood purer. "

" Our blood is as pure as it can be. "

" That's because your father married his third cousin. " Arleta winked.

" That law is already done. "

" But they still have to choose our partners for us. "

" How long are you staying? " Archer asked.

" Why do you ask? Do you miss me? " Arleta winked.

" No, I thought Bells might need extra company since we would be going for a hunt soon. " Archer shrugged.

" I'll be spending the summer here. "

" You didn't tell me you're going for a hunt? How long? " Bellamy asked.

" Just two days. The Lady of Sapphire had a son..... "

" So she's holding a tournament? "

" Yes. "

" I wish I could take you to the city. " Arleta said as she pulled Bellamy to her side.

" I wish I could go too. But as you can see I can't pass the border of the castle grounds. " Bellamy said sadly.

" Don't worry. You'll pass soon enough. "

They were still talking when they heard rustling sounds from the forest.

" Keep calm. " Archer said and stood up slowly. He walked towards the direction of the sound but he was attacked from behind.

" Archer!" Bellamy screamed.

A demon-like animal jumped from the bush and attacked them while Archer fought with a man.

They tried using their powers on it but it proved fruitless. Bellamy was too scared to use her powers and they were at a losing end. It was either them or the demons.

" Bell, you have to help us. " Arleta said.

" What if I loose control? "

" You won't. I know it. You can't loose control. " Arleta said and she sighed. She closed her eyes and conjured up a shield for herself and her siblings then she created a fire ball with her other hand. She threw it at the animal but it proved relentless.

" Don't give up." She said to herself. She created spears from the poisonous stems around and sent them towards the ugly looking man and he died immediately. The animal grew annoyed when it saw it's owner dead and tried to break the shield. It seemed distracted so Archer broke the shield around him and moved stealthily towards the animal before stabbing it in its neck.

" I just killed someone." Bellamy said as she broke the shield.

" You didn't. That thing would have killed us anyway. I wonder what it is. " Sebastian said.

" We have to go back to the castle. " Archer said and mounted his horse.

...

" What do you think it is?" Queen Minerva asked the royal physician. The prince sent some men back to the valley to bring the dead things.

" A demon perhaps."

" A demon would not just attack." Archer said.

" I don't know for certain, your Majesty. What I know is that they were after someone. " He said and they turned to look at Bellamy.

" Do you think they're after me? Am I the cause of this?" She sniffed.

" No darling. You didn't cause anything. You did a brave thing fighting them. I'm glad you didn't loose control. " Queen Minerva said and held her face in her palms.

" Auntie." Arleta said.

" Yes Arleta. "

" I was wondering since Bell didn't loose control while fighting ..... "

" You were wondering if she had mastered the act of her powers, am I correct? "

" Yes. "

" She has. "

" Can't she go outside the castle grounds now? "

" Arleta that isn't for me to decide. If she can pass the barrier that means she can go outside. "

" Okay. Bellamy aren't you tired. Come on, let's go to our room. "

" Okay. " Bellamy said and they both left.

" What is it?" Queen Minerva asked the physician one more time.

" I think someone has risen the dreaded king and his men. "

" You mean someone rose Dagon? " Archer and Sebastian asked at a time.

" Yes. " He said and they all exchanged glances.

" Lady Arleta." The head maid, Melinda said outside the door and when she heard no sound she went in.

" Lady Arleta." She gasped when she saw her gulping down wine directly from the bottle.

" Don't act like you're shocked, Melinda. Everyone knows who I am. That's why my father sent me here. " Arleta hiccupped.

" My lady, this isn't right. " Melinda said and tried to take the bottle from her.

" What? Drinking wine. The Queen has a large jar in her room. "

" Which she takes when necessary. It isn't right for a lady to behave in such manner. "

" Melinda what do you know about being a lady? Aside from helping us dress. I never knew my mother and I've been sold of to different men in the name of marriage. Even men old enough to be father. Is that what is right for a lady? "

" Arleta. " Queen Minerva said sadly as she walked into the room. " Leave us Melinda. " She said and Melinda bowed her head before leaving.

" Has he sent you to give me off to the next minister?"

" Arleta I understand how you feel but I'm not going to do it. I understand how it feels to be forced into various marriages that we don't approve of. The women of the royal family has always been living in chains. The other women might have earned their freedom but the women from royalty didn't. You have to marry to strengthen your family's hold. "

" Is that what happened to you? "

" Believe me Arleta, what's happening to you is just a phase, it'll pass. At least you're forced to marry your second cousin or even your brother."

" That must have been awful. "

" Yes but I got over it. Doing all of this to get your father's attention won't work. You have to prove to him that you can be strong on your own. "

" How do I do that? "

" First you have to stop drinking? Secondly, tell your cousins the truth. " Queen Minerva said and pecked her forehead. " They're waiting at the barrier. Make sure you have lots of fun. She needs it."

" I will. Do you think it would let her pass? "

" I know it would. Just make sure you're back before dawn. It's almost sundown. " The Queen said and she jumped up excitedly.

" Thank you auntie. " She said and pecked her cheek before running off.

" Do you want me to send the guards after them? " The head guard asked and she shook her head.

" Let them be for today. They have someone strong with them. I'll let you know if you need to go to the city. Just get the car ready for them. "

" Sorry I kept you guys waiting. " Arleta said as she ran towards the royals.

" Were you drinking again?" Sebastian asked.

" No why would I? " She chuckled nervously. " Have you tried it? "

" Yes, but it's a dead end. You guys have fun anyway." Bellamy said sadly.

" Don't give up. Maybe it's a false. Try it again while I'm here. " She said. " I'm going outside the barrier. Try coming after me. " She said and ran off.

" Okay. " Bellamy inhaled ad went after her. She passed the barrier and immediately she passed it fell. " Wow! Yay! I'm finally out. " She screamed.

" You let down the barrier? " Lord Balor asked the queen. They were watching them from the window of her chambers.

" She let down the barrier. She's more powerful than she seems. "

" The barrier is the only thing keeping the common folks from coming into the castle. And also something like what happened earlier. "

" And it's gonna keep them as long as she's still alive. The king knew she's the only one who could power the barrier and that is why we need to let her live some more before she's told the responsibility in her hands. "

" This is risky. What if it doesn't work? "

" Then my father isn't Dagon. If my father has risen once again, we need to do anything possible to take him back to the realm of darkness where he belongs. "

" The princess life is at risk. "

" She has someone to protect her. "

" What if he's in here?"

" You're asking if that person might be your son? He isn't. He's a commoner like you were once. A commoner with magic. "

" I trust your judgement, your Majesty but....."

" The children will be fine. The barrier was still up when that thing attacked them. Which only means we need her go out to make the barrier stronger. " Queen Minerva said with a smirk.

" Your Majesty. " He said and bowed his head before leaving.

" Be safe my little princess. " She said and conjured up a snowflake.

" Let's go." Arleta screamed as they got into the car.

" Wait." Bellamy said and came down from the car.

" What's she doing?" Arleta whispered and she came back in with a snowflake.

" Mother's snowflake. " Archer muttered.

" She wants us to be safe. " Sebastian said.

" She was watching us. " Bellamy smiled.

" She's still watching. We just need to keep you safe. " Sebastian said and nudged her shoulders and she smiled. They were dressed incognito so no one would know who they were. They would think they were from some rich family.

The car came to a stop at an expensive and popular hotel and they came down.

" Where are we?" She asked.

" The Fristers are holding a party. " Sebastian said.

" You know the Fristers? " Arleta asked.

" Yeah, I've heard about them a few times. "

" We went to the same high school. It's a group of three popular and rich boys. " Arleta said as they were led in. " The Fristers party is a place to start from for a first timer. " She smiled.

" Wow! " Bellamy mouthed as they walked further into the hall.

" Magical right!" Archer whispered.

" The royal's party is more magical. " She smiled. As they walked by, a group of boys stopped to stare at her and Archer shot them dangerous glare. She wouldn't blame them for drooling. She was dressed in one of Arleta's party dress. It was a short sleeveless black gown with slits. The gown fitted her perfectly and brought out her curves.

" Where's Arleta?" Bellamy asked looking around.

" She's with the Fristers. " Sebastian said. As they walked by, the girls kept drooling at the princes while the boys drooled at Bellamy. Her brothers were the most handsome men in the kingdom. They both took after her mother in hair colour, skin, character, and everything except eyes. They had the king's eyes. They both had red hair and hazel eyes. They could pass as twins at a first since they looked alike. While she had various personalities, she looked like her mother and father and grandmother which made her beauty extra.

" Hello fellow rich folks. " One of the members of the Fristers said snd they smiled. Bellamy was almost tempted to bow her head but she held herself.

" Hey. "

" This is Jeremy, Nicklaus and Charles. " Arleta introduced. The one with golden brown was Nicklaus, Charles had blonde hair while Jeremy was a red head like the princes.

" These are my cousins. Bellamy, Sebastian and Archer." Arleta said and they exchanged greetings.

" Care for a dance milady?" Nicklaus asked Bellamy and she blushed.

" Sure. " She said and they both went to the dance floor.

" So you're the princess?" Nicklaus asked and she gasped. " Even if you're incognito, one could tell that you're from royalty. Magic has a way of not hiding itself. "

" So you know about magic it's effect on users? "

" Yes, I do. Since you want it to be secret, I won't tell anyone that we were graced by the princess's presence. Don't bother about my friends, they're as dumb as an oaf. " He said and she laughed.

" This is my first time coming out of the castle. "

" One can tell. I heard the princess was the most beautiful maiden in the lands. Seeing you makes me believe it. " He winked and she blushed.

" Thank you. " She said as the dance came to an end and they went back to the others.

" Here have a little wine while we wait for the magic show. " Arleta said and offered her a glass.

" I shouldn't. " She said politely.

" It just has a little alcohol. " Jeremy whispered to Archer. " Mostly apple cider. "

" You can take it. " Archer said and she sighed before taking the glass from her.

" Such a baby. " Arleta scoffed. The magic show came on soon and Bellamy watched it with keen interest while Nicklaus watched her.

" Stop staring at my sister. " Sebastian glared at him and he chuckled.

" Can't help myself. " He mouthed and he scoffed. The magic sow soon came to an end.

" Do you guys wanna head to the penthouse and leave the guests to party?" Nicklaus asked.

" I thought the penthouse..... "

" Oh honey, this hotel actually belongs to Nicklaus. " Arleta said and Bellamy nodded.

" I do need some rest. " She muttered.

" We'll join you guys later. " Archer said and pecked her forehead.

" Be safe. " Sebastian said and winked at her. They were probably going after girls.

" I'll keep her safe. " Arleta said drunkenly as she pulled her to the elevator.

" Wow! This is beautiful. It looks just like my room. " Bellamy muttered as she walked into Nicklaus's room. Arleta was with the other boys int the living room. " Why did you bring me in here? " She glared at him and he chuckled.

" For a princess who's not been exposed to the outside world, I must say that you're smart. " He said. " I wanted to speak to you alone. I actually took permission from your brothers before bringing you in here alone and I'm not going to do anything against your wish. "

" Speak to me about what? " She asked as they sat on the couch.

" Your snowflake. "

" My snowflake? "

" Yeah. The one you've hidden in your dress. "

" How can you see it when you don't have magic? "

" It's a family heirloom, right? "

" Yes, my mother's. "

" Meant to guide you to your right path. "

" How do know about it? "

" I know quite a lot of things." He said and turned off the light with a snap of fingers and turned them back on.

" You have magic?"

" Can I trust you with this little secret of mine dear princess?"

" If it is a secret then you can. " She smiled. He adjusted closer to her and she shifted uncomfortably.

" I'm not going to bite you. I just want to have a closer look at the heirloom. " He said and she exhaled.

" Okay. " She said and placed it in her hands.

" Such a priceless gift formed with magic. It would begin to fade once it's done it's job. "

" Fade? "

" It led you to me. " He whispered and she shivered. As if planned, the snowflake began melting.

" No.."

" It's job is completed. The Queen knew I would be here that's why she ordered your siblings to bring you here. Since you've rejected all your suitors, you might as well accept me. But I'm not a suitor, I'm just a guide. "

" Guide? "

" I'm the only who's able to help you control your powers outside the castle. " He said, his face few inches away from hers.

" I need a drink. " She whispered and he chuckled. He walked towards the cellar and brought a jar of alcoholic wine. He placed them before her and formed two glasses with his powers and she stared at him speechless.

" I can control mineral materials, earth and some other things." He shrugged as he turned the wine into the two glasses.

" Do you think he'll do it?" Sebastian asked as they walked to the elevator.

" Mother believes he's the one. I'm sure he already knows it, if he's the one. We just have to make sure no one interrupts them. " Archer shrugged.

" I can't believe he's the only commoner with powers. "

" He's not the only commoner with powers. The others have powers but they're recessive. He's the only dominant one." Archer said.

" I need a girl for tonight. " Sebastian murmured.

" You're gonna have lots of mistresses at this rate. " Archer shook his head.

" I don't care. I need pleasure. "

" So you say your family has a lots of companies that help the royal families with finance? " Bellamy slurped.

" Yes. We're the third richest family in the kingdom. "

" Who's the first? "

" The royal family. "

" I knew it. " She giggled. She tried to stand up but she slumped and fell on his body on the couch.

" You smell lovely." Nicklaus said drunkenly.

" You smell like wine. " She giggled with a flushed face. Their faces came closer and she licked her lips. He slammed his lips on hers hungrily and she kissed him back in the same manner. They kissed like couples who's been apart for years. His hands caressed her nipples through the dress and she played with his hair. Her emotions grew instantly and she lost control. She became wild like a fiery beast and overpowered him.

" Bellamy. Your highness." Nicklaus said and forced himself to stop before anything else could happen. It was best if anything happens if she was in her right senses and in total approval with it.

" Why did you stop? I want more. " She cried.

" Your highness, you're not in your right senses. We can't do this. We only just met. " Nicklaus said.

" But I want it. " She cried as her eyes glowed.
