Chapter 1 Never

A little girl whimpered with tears rolling down her eyes as she watched from where she was hiding.

The only thing preventing the 'monsters' from seeing her was the thick curtains that she was hiding behind.

She wrapped her hand around her mouth, trying to muffle her tears as much as possible.

Her mother's dead body laid in blood away from her but she dared not go out to cry on her body.

A small gasp escaped her lips as she saw her big brother being pulled out.

"Jake" she gasped but knew that she had to stay in hiding like her father had told her to.

"A little boy like you daring to kill Werewolves... You are really brave" a man pushed Jake to the floor.

The boy fell to the floor but he did not seem afraid of the Werewolves hovering around him.

Perhaps he was confident that his father would come save him but he was too confident, way too confident.

One of the guys pulled him up and was about to snap his neck when someone yelled stop.

"Stop!"

The little girl behind the curtains gulped down and clasped her hands tighter around her mouth, silently hoping someone would save her big brother.

"We should let out future Alpha kill him instead of doing so ourselves, this would be his first kill" the one who had yelled stop suggested and the other seemed to agree with him.

"That's right. Would you like to do that, sir Damon?" He asked another boy in their midst.

The boy definitely stood out from the other of them, he was dressed in obviously expensive clothes and the way he carried himself was different from the others, he was also the youngest amongst the other men.

He was the Alpha's son, Damon.

"I... I do agree with you" his voice kind of quivered.

It was his first time killing something apart from animals, he was going to be killing a human.

"But killing a human...."

"Sir Damon, they are not peaceful humans, they killed some of our Pack members, they killed..."

"Enough!" Little Damon raised his right hand up and the man speaking kept quiet immediately.

"I'll do it" Damon agreed in and walked towards Jake who was sprawled on the floor.

The little girl behind the curtains shook with tears, more of the salty liquid rolling down her cheeks.

She watched as Damon approached Jake and held his head in between his strong hands.

Her breath hitched and with the sound of her big brother's neck snapping, her eyes squeezed shut tightly and more tears rolled down.

Her lips were parted in a gasp and attempt to breathe properly after so much shedding of tears silently.

Her eyes slowly opened and she saw the body of her big brother dropping to the floor.

Her eyes followed the movement of his body as his limp body fell to the floor. She felt like screaming out his name but she knew she was not allowed to, else the same would happen to her.

As little as she was, she was well aware of that fact, after all her family was one of the werewolf hunters.

As she raised her head up slowly, her eyes met with the eyes of the one who just killed her brother, her eyes met with that of Damon.

He had seen her.

Her heartbeat fastened as she knew of the danger perfectly well. She would be dragged out and be killed to.

More tears rolled down as she awaited him to come towards her.

Their eyes remained locked for some seconds before he suddenly looked away like he had not seen her.

"Let's go" Damon said to the others and they walked forward, some of them kicking the body of Jake as they did so.

They all walked out with Damon being the last, before he walked out of the room, he looked at her one more time, their eyes meeting yet again which made the little girl sure now that he had seen her but why was he not pulling her out and killing her like he did to the others.

"Save your life" she heard him mumble to her and walk away.

As soon as they were away, the little girl ran out of behind the curtains to her little brother on the floor.

"Jake!" She cried out, still trying to be quiet so as not to bring the attention of others to them.

"Jake!!"

*

"Jake!!" She gasped out the name of her big brother as she woke up from sleep, beads of sweats on her forehead.

She sighed heavily. It had been 14 years already since that incident but she still dreamt about it constantly.

It seemed like everyone had forgotten about the death of her mother and her brother and she was the only one still keeping them in her hearts.

If there was something else she could not forget apart from the faces of her family during that incident, it was the eyes of the one who had killed her big brother.

He might have let go of her but she did not care about that, he had killed her brother and she hated him for that.

Her phone rang and she stretched out to the bedside table to get it.

She got it and sighed when she saw the caller, it was her father.

It was just the two of them (she and her father) who had survived the attack of the werewolves that night.

She reluctantly picked the call.

"Hello Dad"

"Hey Sabrina, it's been a long time"

"A long time? We still talked three days ago" Sabrina pointed out.

"You really do not care about me, Sabrina. It's been three days and you do not feel like it's been a long time?" Her father asked.

"Alright Dad, it's been a long time. I miss you already" she replied, mainly to please her father.

She felt like her father was becoming more clingy these days.

Her father never cared if they did not talk for weeks before but it was different now.

"Me too, so why don't you reconsider? Why don't you come back home? Come back to Australia, just leave Germany, you know we are all waiting for you"

"No one should wait for me Dad, I am never coming back"

"You need to hone your skills at catching wolves and continue with the duty of the family as the leader of the werewolf hunters"

"Duty of the family? Catching wolves? I have nothing to do with those things. I do not want to join you in catching werewolves. I am never going to do things like that!" She replied determinedly.

"We need you, Sabrina. The wolves are getting stronger and increasing in population."

"Just let them be Dad! They do not attack if they are unprovoked, right? So just let them be!" She half yelled.

"Are you really yelling at me Sabrina?" Her father asked, his voice slightly raised.

"I am not yelling at you Dad but you really need to stop all of these. If you had not been involved in this, Jake would not be dead, mum would also be alive. What you call the duty of the family is what took the both of them away from us!"

"Sab!"

"Dad!"

"Do not talk like that" He cautioned her.

"But I am saying the truth Dad. I am not going to take up the so called duty and die like they both did. I am going to preserve my life, Dad..."

"You are being selfish, Sabrina!"

"Selfish? Fine, I am selfish then. Call me whatever you want to Dad but I am never ever going to lead the werewolf hunters."

Chapter 2 Death

"Sabrina" the voice of Sabrina's father had softened after that small disagreement between them.

"I know you still very well remember that incident but even your brother would want you to move in line with the family. He would want you to avenge his death by taking those wolves down"

"No. If brother Jake was alive, he would want me to stay away from dangerous things like that and keep myself safe"

"You are getting this wrong"

"No I am not, father. You are the one getting things wrong" she replied him.

"Think about this carefully. You can not always dodge"

The call was ended before Sabrina could reply her dad.

She huffed and dropped the phone in annoyance.

"I am always going to dodge!" She yelled at the phone on the bed and ran her hands through her hair, raking the lengthy, wavy hair all the way back.

She was Sabrina James, 26, beautiful but still yet single. She was working as the head of the marketing department in a small company but she loved her job so much.

Her job was not just a job but it was also a way of escape for her. If she had not been able to find a job, she was sure that her father would have pushed her back to Australia where she would have to work for him, hunting down wolves, something she badly did not want to do.

She preferred living here in Niue, this very small country where there were no werewolf hunters roaming around.

She got off her bed and grumpily looked at the wall clock.

She gasped as she saw how late she was.

"Mr. Myles won't let me off easily if I am late today" she grumbled, running off into the bathroom.

She took a very quick bath dressed up for work quickly.

She used lipstick and hurriedly blow dried her hair. She clumsily tied her hair into a big and yet messy bun.

As she tied her hair, her hand brushed over a scar on her neck. It was one of the scars she had received that night, 14 years ago in the fight that took her big brother and her mother.

She did not think much about the scar anymore since thinking about it would only remind her of that night.

She rushed out of her apartment after making sure that she was all ready for another day at work.

She was lucky to be able to stop a taxi quickly.

She got to her workplace after about ten minutes of ride in the car.

"Thank you" she thanked the driver, paying his fee to him before sprinting into the office.

"Come over here Sabrina" A loud masculine voice called out as she ran past his office to get to her own office

Sabrina froze for a second, turned back, and rushed to her boss's office.

She was pretty late that morning and she knew he was going to scold her.

She pushed his door open and walked into the office.

The man was seated, relaxedly on the chair behind his desk, he was in his early thirties obviously and he was handsome, no doubt.

His suit clung to his body and even when he was sitting and looking relaxed, he still looked hot with his hair dyed bright brown.

"I am here sir, at your service" Sabrina smiled as she got in front of him but her smile was clearly not welcomed.

"First, you are late today"

"I am sorry boss, I..."

"I got stuck in the traffic and even had to alight and run here" Her boss cut her off, saying the exact same words she was about to say.

She bit on her lower lips.

"That's what you were about to say, right?" He asked her and she could only get her head bowed.

"You should stop lying to me, Sabrina! You are not good at lying anyways, you keep stating the same lie everytime" he shook his head.

"I am sorry, Mr. Myles"

"You need to get those jobs I gave you yesterday done within five days. I do not care how you go about it, okay?" He asked.

"You can rely on me, Boss" she assured him but the man just scoffed.

"Rely on you? I wish I could. If you fail at this time around, I am going to have to demote you or maybe just fire you once and for all" he waved his hands to show how he was going to dismiss her if she failed.

"I won't disappoint you sir" she reassured him.

"You may leave" He dismissed her and Sabrina had turned to leave when he called her name once again.

Sabrina groaned and shut her eyes tightly.

"I do not want any excuse this time around. Nothing such as someone in your family being sick or dead, do you get that?" He asked her and Sabrina looked at him with a smile, one that had been known as her signature.

"Don't give me those silly smiles of yours now" her boss warned her.

"You are so kind, Mr. Myles, I understand your fury this time around. I would not make you this mad next time" she grinned at him.

"Now, give me a smile, Mr. Myles. You know you look much more handsome with a smile on your face" she flattered him and even though he tried to keep on with the stern look on his face, he eventually smiled.

"Now, that is better" Sabrina grinned.

"I won't be smiling at you if you..."

"It's okay, I know, I know, Mr. Myles. I will get to work right now" she smiled at him and rushed out of the office.

Her boss chuckled as she rushed out of the office.

That small smile on his face showed that he had feelings for her deep in his heart but was not letting her know about it yet.

*

That evening

Sabrina stretched her arms, she was dead tired from having to do so many works but it was her fault for procrastinating all these while.

She now had to face the work load.

"I should stop now, I have done enough" She mumbled to no one and pushed away her laptop, after which she took her glasses off and dropped them on her table.

She picked her phone and removed it from airplane mode which she had activated so as not to be distracted from work. As if on cue, her phone rang right after she had done that.

It was a strange contact but she picked it up anyways.

"Hello, who is this?"

"Hello Sabrina. There is bad news" the panicky voice of the second in command to her father, Derrick popped up.

"I told you, I do not want to talk about whatever is happening with you guys and those creatures" she whispered into the phone.

"It's not about us or the wolves this time.... It is about your Dad"

"My dad?" Her brow raised.

"Yes, your dad.... He's dead."

Chapter 3 Taken Advantage Of

A wolf with black fur sprinted across the field at great speed.

This continued for many minutes before he stopped running and shifted back into his human form.

He was Alpha Damon, the Alpha of Alphas and leader of the Red Moon Pack.

"Here you go Alpha" A guy stretched out a blanket to him.

It was Henry, the beta of the pack and best friend of Damon. They were pretty close and so did not give so much formalities towards each other.

"What happened?" Damon asked, taking the blanket from him and wrapping it around his naked body.

"What do you mean by what's happened?" Henry asked.

"You just won't call me Alpha while laying emphasis on it if there is nothing up"

"You know me way too much" Henry mumbled.

"What happened?" He repeated his question and picked a bottle of water, he opened the bottle and gulped down the liquid contents.

"He is dead."

"Dead? Who?" Damon dropped the bottle of water to the floor.

"The old man. The leader of the Werewolf hunters" Henry replied.

"Oh, he is gone... So soon." Damon mumbled.

"I was not expecting him to live longer" Henry remarked.

"Well, I was. But even if he is dead, those hunters are still not going to back down." Damon noted out.

"Definitely. They will make a new leader as always"

"A new leader..." Damon mumbled.

"We should try to eliminate all of these hunters once" Henry suggested.

"But we can not. They are not only here, they are spread across the world just like we are and you have been investigating for so long, have you ever seen them all meeting at a spot? No. There is no way to completely eliminate people spread across the world"

"Then what to do?"

"For now, we can only continue to suppress them? They have not launched any attacks against us these days..."

"Perhaps their leader was sick and they could not" Henry suggested.

"Probably so... If I am right, they will carry out whatever plans they have as soon as they get a new healthy leader"

"That's true" Henry affirmed.

"Spread the news to the other packs to be at alert right after the old man is buried. Once they attack, I want them all caught.... And eliminated"

"Definitely!" Henry took the orders.

"I will take my leave now" Henry turned to leave.

"Henry"

"Yes?"

"When is the burial?" Damon asked.

"In two days"

"So soon" Damon mumbled.

"That look on your face... Alpha Damon, don't tell me you are going to go to the burial"

"I should at least see the old man off. He is dead but we are still standing strong"

"I do not think that is proper, really. What if they find out who you are and attack against you?" Henry asked.

"Would Werewolf hunters be careless enough to attack me in public... They can only watch me and maybe try going after me when I leave but that is no big deal too" Damon smirked.

"Why do you tend to get your amusements from doing stuffs like this? You really have to?"

"Yes, I have to. You should leave now, get your things done" Damon turned away.

Henry stared at his retreating figure for some time before shaking his head.

"So stubborn... He's never going to listen"

*

The phone dropped from Sabrina's hands to the floor, causing the screen to break as it did so.

Tears filled her eyes quickly but she quickly shook it away and picked up her phone.

"I didn't hear that right. I must have misheard" She mumbled to herself, shaking her head to deny the reality.

"What... What did you just say?" She stuttered over the phone, fearing the response she was going to hear.

"You heard me right Sab, I... Leader is dead and he is going to be buried in two days. You should come home"

The news was way too shocking to Sabrina. Her father had talked to her that morning, how could he dead so suddenly.

"Did... Did father ask you to pull this trick on me so that I'll come home? Tell him it's not going to work" Sabrina still did not want to accept that it was the truth that she was being told.

"Sab! I am not joking or trying to trick you into coming home. I would never joke about the leader's death. He... He is really gone but if you do not believe me... I guess I should send a couple of pictures to you then"

"He... He really is dead? My father is really dead?" More tears clouded her eyes, clouding her vision.

"He is dead" he affirmed and Sabrina closed her eyes tightly, the tears seeping out of her eyes as she did so.

The call was ended and Sabrina let her hand drop.

Her phone beeped with a message a few seconds later and she sluggishly checked the messages, it was pictures of her dead father.

He was really dead and gone.

"Father!!" She cried out, letting all her tears out.

She had lost everyone now, her mother, her big brother, and now her dead.

Everyone was gone, she was the only left.

Tears rushed down her face.

She broke down totally, making no attempt to stop the tears from falling.

"Father" she cried more and more until the door of her office opened and Mr. Myles, her boss ran into the room.

"Sabrina, are you okay?" He asked as he walked towards the crying girl.

"I..." Sabrina tried to talk but could not because of the tears that would not stop pouring.

"Father" was the only word she could cry out.

Mr. Myles looked towards her phone and his eyes caught the picture of the dead man.

He immediately understood everything. Her father was dead.

He pulled her up and made her hug him.

"Don't cry, Sabrina" he patted her back, trying to console her.

Sabrina hugged him tightly, crying into his chest and creating a wet patch on his shirt.

"It's okay. I will be here for you" he tried his best to console even if he was not good at it.

Sabrina only stood in his embrace, all she needed was someone to hug her at the moment and Mr. Myles was just enough for that.

*

"Should I take you to your home? Tell me your address" Myles requested from Sabrina but she was deeply asleep.

They were both in the backseat of his car.

He stared at her pretty but sad face, he did not want to wake her up. He did not want to see her crying all over again if she woke up.

"I will just take you to my home then" he mumbled, gently caressing her hair.

He got out of the backseat of the car and got into the driver's seat.

He looked at her through the mirror and sighed softly before starting the drive to his home.

His home was not far away from the company so he got there in no time.

He alighted from the car and carried Sabrina out of the backseat of the car.

He took her into his home and headed for the guestroom with her in his arms.

He dropped her on the bed gently not to wake her up.

He tucked her into bed with care and caressed her face and hair before getting up to get himself a glass of water while loosening his tie.

He had only walked a few steps away from the bed when he heard her mumbling some things.

He turned back to her, wondering what she was mumbling to herself.

He walked back to the bed and she suddenly grabbed his hand, pulling him down to her.

Myles gasped as he nearly landed heavily on her but was able to support his weight with his arms quickly.

Myles eyes fell on her beautiful face, her closed eyes, her small, pointed nose and her slightly pouted lips.

She was too pretty even when so sad.

He raised his hands to her face and caressed her cheeks once again, this time, the caress was much more slower.

"Big brother Jake" She mumbled holding his hands tightly.

Myles did not care much about the name she called, he crashed his lips down on her lips, leading her into an intense kiss.

She tried pushing him off her but Myles held her in place firmly, not letting go of her.

It did not take long for Sabrina to calm down too, being too emotional and vulnerable at the moment.

"I am sorry, Sabrina but I can't hold back tonight"
