Chapter 1 The Impostor

ELIANA

[Everything's arranged, young lady. The Royal Pack is waiting for you. Please finish your business with the RedFang Pack as soon as possible.] Mrs. Lana spoke, sweet and calm.

[Tell father, I'll be there soon. I just need to take care of the trash I've been cherishing for twenty years.]

Somerland was a place owned by nine packs, each with a strong Alpha. But they all bowed to the authority of the Lycan King, Benjamin Caster. He had his own pack, the royal pack, but he ruled the entire Somerland, including the other packs. He was my birth father.

[I'm sending you the royal guards. They'll escort you back safely.]

[Thank you, Mrs. Lana]

As the call ended, I looked at myself in the mirror, a long, blue dress clung to my body.

It was a miracle I was still alive. Ten days ago, I had been standing at death's doorstep.

The man I had loved for ten years, the man I had been engaged to, humiliated me on a date I had planned for him. Then, without a trace of concern, he threw me out of his car in the middle of a storm, leaving me alone on a deserted road.

Vulnerable in the heavy rain, I was attacked by a group of rogues. became a target.

I barely survived.

Knock, Knock.

A maid entered. "Miss. Eliana. Everyone is waiting for you downstairs."

"Let's go. The show is about to begin." A tight smile glinted on my lips.

The large doors opened as I entered the grand hall that was celebrating the auspicious Blue Moon Ceremony.

"Eliana, you're right on time," Elder Daniel said, pointing his palm towards the place next to Jaxon King. He was dressed in a white suit, brown hair and amber eyes. The man I had foolishly loved for years. My chosen mate. The heir to the SilverClaw Pack.

Whispers stirred around me.

"Her wolf is a brown mutt. I can't believe Jaxon is sealing the bond with her."

"Jaxon deserves better."

"She's a disgrace to the Aylestone family. Everyone in the RedFang Pack has a powerful wolf, especially the Alpha family. Being the Alpha's daughter, she is a stain."

"If not for the engagement arranged by the elders between the packs for stability, Jaxon would've never married someone like her."

"True. She's obsessed with Jaxon. A brown mutt like her should know her real place."

Every voice mocked me.

Fools. My wolf was no brown mutt. When I was struggling against those rogues, my wolf, a brown mutt, temporarily transformed into a white wolf, and killed each of them alone. She was giant, powerful, and rare.

I couldn't believe myself. But she disappeared, not fully awakened yet.

I heard that some rare wolves will conceal themselves for safety.

"We shall start the ceremony now," Elder Daniel announced in his heavy voice. Inhaling a soft breath, I held my chin high and slowly closed the space between Jaxon and I.

Ceremony? I was here to remove every hazard from my life.

"The Blue Moon shines down upon us," proclaimed the senior-most Elder, his voice reverberating off the empty chamber. "Advance yourselves, Jaxon of SilverClaw, and Eliana of RedFang, for the blessing of your union.

Just then, Marcus arrived. My so-called father.

He looked like he was ready to kill someone, twisted in anger. Next to him was a slight figure, shivering in a coat. Chloe.

"Stop this ceremony!" He roared.

"She isn't my real daughter!" His words hit the crowd like a storm.

After Jaxon left me for dead, I decided to end our engagement. That very night, after returning home in blood, I went to my father's study to discuss it, but before I could enter, I overheard him speaking on the phone.

What I heard shattered my world.

I wasn't his biological daughter. I had been switched at birth. He planned to reveal the truth during the Blue Moon Ceremony, bring his true bloodline home, and cast me out as if I had never belonged there at all.

For years, I suffered in this family, mocked by everyone for having a brown mutt.

Rather than wait to be cast aside, I chose to cut ties on my own terms. I hired a detective and assigned him the job to investigate the birth switch case from twenty years ago. Thanks to his information, I found my roots.

Two days ago, we ran a blood lineage test, and it proved that I was the Lycan King's daughter. The royal, Lycan blood. A rare, white wolf was the symbol of Lycan's identity.

"She's my true mate," Jaxon whispered, his amber eyes softened. He stared at Chloe, taking a step closer, and left my side.

The tug of a destined mate bond forced him towards her, and he didn't even fight it.

The old Eliana would've been broken... But I didn't care. He lost me when he abandoned me. My gaze shifted. I noticed the look on Chloe's face. Her cheeks were flushed, burning red.

"What's going on here, Alpha Marcus?" The elders questioned him.

"The girl in front of the Moon Goddess is an impostor!" Marcus threw a white paper at me. The lineage test result.

Murmurs spread like wildfire.

Marcus walked over to me, his body trembling with rage. "We ran a blood lineage test for the pack registry. Eliana does not contain a solitary tiny bit of RedFang blood! She's a fake who stole twenty years of my actual daughter Chloe's affluent existence."

I didn't even know when he stole a drop of my blood. Probably when he broke a glass and asked me to pick up the shattered pieces.

Grandpa Rodrick, Marcus's father, made his way towards me holding his black cane, the sound of it against the marble echoing through the white walls. His eyes narrowed at me in downright hatred. "No surprise her wolf's nothing but a brown mutt, while the rest of our bloodline produces silver wolves. She looks nothing like Marcus and Jasmine."

He smiled. "Chloe has the same brown hair as Marcus. She's indeed our blood."

Marcus gritted his teeth. "I've always suspected this brown mutt. Just to ease my mind, I ordered my beta to find my real daughter."

"What happened wasn't my fault. The hospital was caught on fire. Children were misplaced. Some ended up with families. Some died. And some were dragged to an orphanage." My voice was calm and my posture composed.

"I was just a newborn."

"You..." Marcus's eyes darkened.

Luna Jasmine ran over to Chloe. "Oh my Goddess! It's you. My real blood."

A tight smile glinted on my lips. Real daughter? If only she knew... Chloe was Marcus's illegitimate daughter, born from an omega maid. Their real daughter died in that fire. My detective told me everything.

"A few days ago, someone tried to attack Chloe in the orphanage. And I found this bracelet at the crime scene." Marcus showed the green jade band that he gave me after turning eighteen. An Aylestone family's heirloom.

Did he plan this?

"Tell me Eliana... Did you already know that you weren't my real daughter? You must've found out about Chloe and tried to kill her. You don't deserve a place here."

I looked at Marcus then at the trembling Chloe. A soft, bitter chuckle slipped free of my lips.

"What's so funny!?" Rodrick growled.

"My bracelet was stolen. I won't take the false blame of an attempted murder. Shall we go to the Wolves' court and let the judge decide?"

Marcus tensed up.

Going to the Wolves' court meant... His lie about his illegitimate daughter could be exposed.

"Enough, Eliana!" Jaxon groaned angrily. "You're doing all of this to marry me, right? Let me be clear... I never loved you. I was forced to take you as my mate. Now that your true identity is exposed, I'm relieved."

"Tonight, in front of anyone, I'll reject..."

"Save your breath, Jaxon," I spat.

"What!?" He flinched.

"Yes, I loved you. I loved you more than anything. But not anymore."

The crowd was stunned.

Nobody expected me to let go of the bond so easily. They knew Jaxon was my whole world. Even he himself couldn't believe it.

"Let's end this bond once and for all."

"I, Eliana, reject Jaxon King from the SilverClaw Pack, in front of the whole pack." Every memory of the past flashed in my head when he turned away from me, letting my wolf suffer.

Jaxon coughed, clutching his chest as the rejection bond snapped, spewing a rush of blood. Chaos broke out in the crowd... An Alpha heir who had been rejected was a shameful disgrace like no other.

I stepped into his space, gazing down my nose at his shocked face. "I wonder whether a pathetic coward like you could even get your hands on the throne, let alone inherit it."

Every Alpha heir needs Alpha King's permission to sit on the throne. Jaxon had no idea what was coming his way.

"You're an arrogant bitch!" Jaxon hissed, blood filled his eyes as his wolf roared.

"Show this mutt her place." Marcus mumbled.

Driven by uncontrollable fury, Jaxon charged at me, hand sharpening into a deadly talon claw, ready to shear right down my Adam's apple.

Before he could even touch a single strand on my head, the large doors were forced open with a thud that rattled the walls. More than fifty guards in black uniform barged inside, surrounding the hall.

"They're the Lycan King's guards!" Someone from the crowd shouted.

"Why are they here?"

Chapter 2 Royal Blood

ELIANA

The guards approached me.

"Look," someone raised their voice. "She tried to trick an Alpha family and got caught. The Lycan King must know what she did. He sent his royal guards to protect our pack's name and get rid of the imposter!"

A woman agreed, glaring at me. "She kept the truth hidden. Let Chloe suffer. The Lycan King definitely will punish her for being greedy."

Rodrick stepped forward, hitting his cane on the floor. "There's no doubt about it. You must have tried to hurt Chloe. Why else would the Lycan King send his guards here?"

The lead guard stepped forward, intending to defend me, yet I caught his gaze, commanding him in silence to stay back.

I needed to handle this on my own. I held back... Until I officially remove my name from the RedFang Pack's register. They wouldn't cut ties with me if they found out my true identity.

My sharp gaze shifted to Rodrick. "Whether I tried to hurt Chloe is not for you to decide. You're no longer an Alpha. And as per pack rules, every crime should be discussed in the Wolves' court. So... Let the Head Elder decide."

The crowd started whispering.

"She wasn't like this. What happened to her?

"Did Alpha Jaxon's rejection get into her head? She's acting insane."

"I never expected her to shut up Rodrick Aylestone."

Jaxon barged into my personal space and grabbed my wrist. "You're going to the dungeon and you'll never get out."

He should consider himself lucky that I ordered the guards to hold back. One order from me, and they rip him off into pieces.

"We'll see about that." An unbothered smile glinted on my lips as I shoved him back, pulling my wrist from his tight grip.

"Have you gone insane!? The royal guards don't know any mercy, Eliana. They won't give you the princess treatment."

He sighed. "Let's do one thing. If you apologize to Chloe for hurting her, I'll forget everything and take you as my personal maid. Our family will also convince the Lycan King to forgive your crimes."

I laughed at his face. "What? A maid?"

Jaxon widened his eyes.

"Where did you get the confidence? You're not even an Alpha yet." An exhausting breath slipped free of my lips. "I just rejected you as my mate in front of the whole pack, Jaxon King. I would rather die than serve you."

Suddenly, Jaxon pushed out his claws, digging them into the skin of his palm. "Don't make this difficult for us! Just apologize to Chloe and save your neck. I'm asking you one last time."

He just met his true mate and was already taking her side. Pathetic!

My wolf growled inside me in defence. "I'm not apologizing, Jaxon King. You're not even an Alpha yet... How dare you order me?"

Jaxon's amber eyes burned red as he raised his hand. But the lead guard stepped in front of me, taking the slap across his broad back.

The crowd froze.

A flicker of fear replaced the glow in Jaxon's eyes. Slapping a royal guard? He knew what that meant. Death.

"Thank you. Please step aside," I whispered to the guard. He slowly blinked with respect and cleared the way to Jaxon's face.

"Next time you try to raise your hand at me, I'll make sure it reaches back at you."

"Eliana..." He clenched his jaws tightly, charging a step towards me but the lead guard blocked him, stretching his masculine arm across me. His giant wolf towered upon him, sending a wave of shock to the crowd. "Jaxon King, do not cross the line when we're here."

He swallowed his rage.

"Take her away." Marcus straightened his shoulders. "Please bring her back to the Wolves' council in two days. We'll officially remove her from the RedFang Pack's register. She's a stain to our family name."

"I'll be waiting." My lips curled into a smirk, snatching off the calm from Marcus's face.

I turned my back on them and walked out with the guards. I vowed to myself that I would make them pay for what they did to me.

***

When we reached the Royal Pack, I witnessed the grand packhouse that every pack claimed to be a giant castle. It was indeed like a fortress, powerful, and surrounded by trees.

The grand gates opened as I walked in.

Benjamin Caster, my father and the Alpha King, stood waiting for me. Clad in a tailored black suit, he exuded an intimidating aura of power and authority. Yet the moment his eyes met mine, the sternness in his expression faltered, giving way to a sorrow so profound it seemed to weigh heavily upon him.

"Eliana you are back." He came closer.

I felt smaller in front of his aura. His green eyes were a mirror image of my own. I lowered my head for a bow, yet he pulled me into his arms, soft and gentle.

Then a woman's voice broke through the silence. "My girl," she cried.

It was my mother, Ivy Caster, the Lycan Queen, rushing down the grand staircase. The moment she reached me, tears rolled down her eyes. "We thought we lost you forever." She placed a soft kiss against my forehead.

My uncle and aunt stood nearby, smiling warmly at me. My little cousin rushed forward and wrapped me in a tight hug. They welcomed me with open arms, and for the first time in forever, I felt truly wanted.

Mother held my hand, "Let's get you to your room, you must be tired."

I quietly followed her upstairs.

The room was twice the size of the bedroom I had in the RedFang Pack.

"Do you like the room?"

"Yes, it's beautiful."

She made me sit on the bed. "The pack has been waiting for a long time. Now that you're back, you'll soon inherit the throne. Your father has already made the arrangements."

"Throne? Me?"

"Of course, you're his only daughter. If not you, who will rule the Royal Pack?"

"I-I don't know. I'll be the first female Alpha. Will our pack accept me?"

She gently rubbed my upper back. "That's why your father has decided to send you to the prestigious Claws Academy."

"What?" I was taken aback.

The Claws Academy stood deep within a forest of towering pine trees, far away from every pack. Wolves entered the academy after turning eighteen to earn their stars, marks of strength, skill, and leadership. Only those who earned the Golden Star were considered worthy of the throne, and their authority could never be questioned.

Girls attended the academy to gain high status within their packs and secure an Alpha mate. But I was going to become the first female Alpha myself.

"Your grandpa earned the golden star. Your father earned the golden star. I'm sure you'll walk in their footsteps."

"I won't disappoint you, Mother."

We talked for hours until I fell asleep.

The next morning, I went downstairs, wearing the same dress as last night, only to find Mother waiting for me. "Eliana, you didn't bring any clothes. And you're so thin..." A dangerous, golden glow perked up her eyes. "Did the Aylestone family not treat you well?"

For a second, I was speechless. The aura she had was more powerful than any other Luna.

"Mother. We'll talk about them later. Calm down, okay?"

She exhaled a breath. "That's fine. But your wolf shouldn't be affected. A white wolf is the legacy of our family, Eliana."

My stomach twisted.

Everyone mocked me for having a brown mutt. My wolf wasn't fully awakened yet. What if they kick me out?

Mother gently placed her hand on my shoulder. "Tell me... You have your white wolf, right?"

Chapter 3 Severing Ties

ELIANA

My throat felt dry under my mother's look. The silence between us was louder.

"Tell me... You have your white wolf right?"

Inside my chest, my wolf let out an anxious whine. She wasn't fully awake yet. I had to find a way to awaken her.

"Y-Yes Mother, " I lied, the words tasting bitter on my tongue. "My white wolf is fine."

A breath slipped free of her lips. "That's good."

My wolf snarled within me, fierce and restless, clawing at the edges of my mind. She hated that I was concealing her brown mutt identity. I forced her back with a soft breath, keeping my face calm and plain.

Mother's face lit up with a soft smile. "The Caster bloodline never fails." She tenderly squeezed my hands. "Before you go to the Claws Academy, your father and I will host a welcome-back party. We'll invite all nine packs. It's time to show the world that the true princess of Somerland is back."

"Mother please wait," I said, holding her gaze. "We should wait."

"What do you mean, darling?"

"If I go to the academy as the Lycan Princess, everyone will say I earned my stars because of Father's title. I want to earn the Golden Star with my own merits. Let me enter the academy as a normal wolf. Once I have the Golden Star, I'll reveal my true identity."

Mother looked at me for a long second. Slowly, the calm expression on her face turned into admiration. "You truly are Benjamin's daughter," she whispered, her voice smooth. "Your identity will remain secret until you graduate. I will talk to your father."

"Only after your graduation will we host the grand welcome party."

"Thank you, Mother."

For two days, the royal family pampered me like a Goddess. Mother spoiled me endlessly, filling my room with luxurious silk gowns, sparkling diamond jewelry, and the most exquisite perfumes.

Then the day finally came... the day I would officially sever my ties with the RedFang Pack.

"Take the guards with you, Eliana," Mother insisted as I stood by the grand entrance of the fortress, dressed in a sleek black dress as if I was going to a funeral.

"No, Mother," I replied, offering a tight smile. "If I show up with the royal guards, it will raise many questions about my identity."

"Okay, take care."

I quickly booked a cab and arrived at the Wolves Council, a building made of white stones. When I pushed the doors open, the tension in the room was palpable.

The Aylestone family was already waiting by the long table. Marcus sat with his shoulders rigid while Jasmine held Chloe's hand whispering reassurances. Jaxon King was standing next to them, smug and arrogant.

The moment Jaxon saw me walk in alone, a smirk spread across his face. He stepped forward crossing his arms. "Well, look who finally crawled out of the dark. Tell me Eliana... How did the royal guards treat you in the dungeons?"

I strode toward the table, my heels striking sharply against the marble floor. Stopping just inches from Jaxon, I let my gaze travel over him slowly, dripping with disdain. "Even the Alpha King cannot keep someone in a dungeon without proof, Jaxon. Unlike you, he understands how the law works."

Chloe gasped, stepping forward, her face pale with panic. "What? Did... Did the Alpha King release you?"

I turned my gaze to her, my lips curling into a smile. "He never captured me in the first place, Chloe. But why are you so upset?"

She dropped her gaze to the floor, taking a step back. "I-I am not upset. I was just curious."

The room fell silent. Marcus's jaw tightened. He had expected me to arrive in iron chains, broken, and begging for mercy.

"Enough of this nonsense!" Marcus growled, slamming his hand on the table. He turned to the Elder. "Elder Raffael, please start the ritual. We want to remove this imposter's name from the RedFang Pack register immediately."

The Elder nodded, pulling out a parchment, the sacred registry of the RedFang Pack. He lit a silver bowl filling the room with the scent of burning sage.

"Eliana," Elder Raffael spoke, his voice echoing through the huge walls. "Step forward. Offer a drop of your blood to sever the tie."

I didn't hesitate. I walked over to the glass bowl, took the small dagger and sliced the tip of my thumb. A single drop of blood fell into the flames. Instantly, a sharp tug snapped in my chest as my name dissolved from the parchment.

"Now, the true blood," he commanded.

Chloe stepped forward, her eyes gleaming with malice as she dropped her blood onto the parchment, giving me a look of victory.

Chloe's name glowed in bright ink.

The moment it was finalized, Jasmine broke into tears and threw her arms around Chloe. "My beautiful daughter," she sobbed. "You're finally home." Marcus joined the embrace, wrapping his arms around them as though I didn't even exist.

Jaxon watched the scene unfold before shifting his gaze to me. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a thick bundle of cash and dropped it into my hand. "Take it," he said coldly. "We were once engaged. I'd hate to see you starving on the streets... or turning into some wild rogue."

I glanced down at the money, a bitter laugh rising in my throat. Without saying a word, I flicked my wrist and hurled the cash straight at his face. The bills exploded into the air, scattering across the room like falling leaves.

"What the hell, Eliana!" Jaxon snarled.

"Jaxon, I would rather starve to death than touch your money."

"Let it be, Jaxon. She's just ungrateful," Marcus said, drawing my attention.

I turned my sharp gaze to Marcus. "Don't get too comfortable celebrating, Alpha Marcus. The case regarding Chloe's attempted murder will be handled this week. Trust me... I will make sure the real culprit is caught and exposed."

His shoulders tensed up while Chloe's face was drained of color. A case in the Wolves' court meant exposing every lie. Even the fact that she was Marcus's illegitimate daughter.

Before they could say another word, I turned around, my dress swirling around me, as I walked out of the council hall.

The adrenaline that had carried me through the meeting began to fade as I walked into the parking lot. The dim lights flickered, dancing against the white walls.

I walked toward the exit, intending to find a cab, when a sudden scent hit my nose. The sharp stench of rogues.

The trauma of my past life, the torture from the rogues, triggered my memories. I ducked behind a pillar. Yards away, three big muscular rogues with aggressive auras were walking through the parking lot. They were checking under cars, their eyes shining in the dark.

"Where did she go?" One of them growled. His voice was low and rough. "Madam Chloe said she left the council hall a minute ago. Find her. We need to finish her tonight."

"Chloe sent rogues to kill me?" She was more vicious than I thought.

My chest tightened with panic. I couldn't take on three rogues alone, not with a weak brown mutt wolf. Inhaling a breath, I removed my heels and slowly started taking steps back.

As I moved past a row of cars, my back touched a black Rolls-Royce. Suddenly, the back door of the Rolls-Royce opened, and before I could even breathe, a hand came out of the interior and grabbed my wrist, pulling me forward with massive strength.

I stumbled into the backseat, and the door slammed shut behind me with a thud. In the next second, I realized I was seated on a muscular lap. The car was drenched in darkness, foggy with an intoxicating scent.

The car's cabin was too dark to see anything.

"Who are you!?" I put my hands on a broad chest, attempting to break free. "Let me go..."

"Shh..." A deep voice whispered.

My eyes adjusted to the darkness, and I saw a pair of striking blue eyes. They were burning with a wild fire that threatened to consume me.

His skin was burning.

The man leaned in, his breath brushing my lips. "I'm... Drugged," he muttered softly. "Help me."

"What? Drugged?"

Before I could think or shove him away, his hand curled around the back of my neck, firm and possessive, dragging me closer until our breaths tangled. His lips crashed against mine, hot and demanding, stealing the air from my lungs as heat exploded through my body.

The moment our lips touched, my wolf let out a possessive roar.

"Mate," she whispered in my mind.
