"Danny, don't you dare walk out on me!" Christie yelled angrily at the back of the departing man.
Danny, spun around fuming in anger at the woman. "What do you want, woman?" He asked, nose flaring.
"I want your father gone."
"That is never going to happen and you know it." Danny was getting frustrated and not to mention tired of having this repeated argument every time his father visited.
"Why?" Christie throws both hands in exasperation. "Just why won't he leave us the fuck alone? Why is he always here?! It's barely three months since the last time he was here and today he's back again!"
"He is my father!" Danny was yelling now, he's had enough of this woman's bickering. "He has every right to be here and as well stay as long as he sees fit!"
"We have been married almost ten years, Daniel, and your father has lived with us eight years out of that, sometimes it's like I'm married to both father and son!"
"And yet you're not used to it," Danny mumbled under his breath.
"I'm supposed to get used to your father always invading my space?"
"Invading?" Danny asked bemused. "This is his house as much as it is yours."
"Lies, all lies, Daniel. This is my house and he has his. He should learn to stay there."
"Why do you always have problems with my father around, uh?"
"Because each time he spends his many undesirable months with us you become a changed man, a completely different person!" She couldn't pretend she hasn't noticed the closeness between them, not that she's insinuating there is anything behind it but it drives her nuts how Danny shifts from a caring husband to 'it's all about my father' whenever his father is around and what's worse? The man wouldn't leave for months.
They have always been close, she knew this but when she wasn't married to him she dealt with it alright and now they're married for years, it's become a repeatable circle one she's no longer interested in keeping. She might as well move into her father-in-laws' house since the man can't last a month without his son.
She's had enough.
It's not bad to have your in-laws around and she understands that they're both the only family they've got left...yet, that doesn't imply that he spends eleven out of every twelve months of the year in her house.
That is unacceptable.
The fact that she has endured it this far, is more than enough.
This is where she draws the line.
"That man is the only relative I've got left, Christie, so it's either you get used to this until he's dead or..."
"Or what?" Christie fired back. If he's suggesting she leaves her home for his father then he's got another thing coming. "He's fifty-two years old and still very much in his prime. He's a fine man, why doesn't he just remarry if he feels too lonely living by himself, hmm?"
"What??" Danny didn't realize his voice had gone higher than he had intended it. He cleared his throat when he caught the glares thrown suspiciously directly at him. "He gave up his life for mine. He wouldn't remarry because he feared another woman would never treat me better. He gave his youthful life up for me and you dare talk about him like that!" He took a step closer and she backed away from him, her legs ran into the island and her hands went up to grab onto it, eyes on her husband whom she feared smoke was starting to blow out from his ears.
There is nothing bad about what she had just suggested. He indeed gave his life up to make sure he gave his son the best things in life, if only her father was devoted to her and her mother then maybe she would understand this strange love between them but even at that, her mother devoted her life into raising her and her stepbrother yet the love she has for her mother is nothing compared to what Danny and his father have.
**~~**
Danny isn't a bad husband neither is he a terrible father, he's proved that from the moment he had met her son whom she had had at the early age of fifteen. Having been deceived greatly by Mickey McCain who got her pregnant and abandoned her the second he learned of it. Forced to go to school with shame and a swelling belly until she couldn't move anymore.
She dropped out of school and gave her life into providing for herself and her son. Of course, having a supportive mother made life a lot easier and she was able to return to school a year after she had her son but she couldn't go further than high school.
She was twenty-two and her son seven at the time when she had met the handsome Danny Boyle Williams who was still in college and a year older than she was. The first time she set eyes on him the second he walked into the coffee shop she worked she knew love, at first sight, had been established between them.
Danny didn't stop coming to the coffee shop until he'd gained her mobile number and they had gone on their first dinner date two weeks after that. It took her another six months to finally open up to him about her son. She had expected him to react like all the other jerks she has had the misfortune of being with but on the contrary, Danny had bonded with her son on first sight just as he had captured her heart on that fateful day with just a simple glance her way and she was trapped in those bedroom eyes. Soft and tender, she was enthralled.
Nothing made her love the man more than when she saw the love he showered on her young son who lacked such fatherly love at the time. She had long since made up her mind to remain a single parent until she met Danny.
She knew she owed it to whoever was responsible for raising such an amazing man. She was sad when she learned Danny's mother had passed away due to a heart attack when he was fourteen. It broke her heart. Then a year after their relationship had blossomed, Danny engaged and took her home to meet with his father.
Now, at twenty-four she was expecting his father to be an older man but when she met the handsome forty-two-year-old Mr. Williams she was shocked beyond words. For months she doubted he was indeed his biological father. Williams had told her he got his seventeen-year-old girlfriend pregnant when he was eighteen and freshly into college. Five years after Elaina had Danny, he had returned from school and married her. She also happened to be the only woman he's ever been married to. After her passing, he had vowed to live his life for his son alone.
She is yet to understand if that was the reason behind the clinginess and love but she still can't react to it okay. Danny is almost thirty-four and happily married with kids, he's a grown-ass man and his father has nothing to fear about marrying anyone who would mistreat his precious son, so why wouldn't he? Why is he always in her house, dragging her husband's attention with her by always being by his side? Why does it feel as if she's trapped between a love triangle, one she's well aware she would never win knowing she can't compete with the love Danny has for his father. She would lose the battle long even before it had begun.

Chapter -: 1
**~~**
"I want him out of this house by sundown today." She whispered, tired of going around this circle knowing she always stands to lose in the end.
"He's not going anywhere," Danny replied nonchalantly, trudging towards the cabinets to begin making breakfast for his beloved father.
That's another weird part of this whole mess. This is her kitchen yet whenever that man is around, her husband alone cooks for him. On most occasions, he even brings him breakfast in bed, and then they will spend hours in the man's bedroom discussing only heaven knows what. She would never forget the time her husband took ill. Her father-in-law had insisted he alone took care of his son, he sat by his bedside for nights without sleep, only agreeing to go home for baths and change of clothes when the doctors insisted he did so.
What kind of infinite love is that? It beats her.
"So, you would rather choose your father over your wife and children?"
"First of all, my children have no problems with my father being here, in fact, they love him so much and you know why? Because he is a great-grandpa. And secondly, that had to be a rhetorical question because I would want to believe that you know the answer to that question."
"Hello, son..."
Speak of the devil.
Christie turned to find the owner of their said argument walking down the stairs looking energetic as if the sun radiated off of him with the way his skin glowed in the white shorts on a short-sleeved shirt he wore practically matching the same outfit her husband is wearing another weird thing about these two. They both have the same favorite colors, foods, sports and what have you.
"How did you sleep, Christie?" He asked after kissing his beloved son on the forehead and disheveling his hair by brushing his hand into them. She caught Danny, chuckled lightly, and even leaned closer into his father's touch.
Christie rolled her eyes, and grabbed an apple from the basket on the island while muttering a quiet..."yes." She wondered how it was possible that at his age he still looks so young, so mesmerizing. She knew it would cost him nothing to have any type of woman he wants even the younger ones if he was into those sorts of things. He's a wealthy man, maybe he has some overpriced body lotion he uses because there was no way in hell his skin glowed that bright without remedy not to mention his body structure and perfect fitness. He worked so hard to look so good but for whom? She had to say she envied the man's charms even at his age which was why she wanted him gone like yesterday. Biting into her apple, she turned to leave the house entirely.
"Where are you going?"
She heard Danny ask when she pulled the front door open. "Well, since you're already making breakfast you should consider making for the whole family, the kids would be down for school any second and I am running late for a meeting." With that said, she shut the door and disappeared.
"Is everything alright, son?" Williams asked. He didn't fail to notice the wrinkle forming above his son's brows nor did he miss the heavy sigh he exhaled the second she shut that door behind her.
His protective side kicked in. He told him it was a bad idea to get married but he wouldn't listen. For years he tried to protect his son from the clutches of these women and he succeeded thrice until he found Christie Blake. He saw how much his son loves her. He knew what pain it would cause the boy if he lost her too. The worst pain he ever dealt with was when his son hurt. So eventually, he gave in, agreeing that he married her on the condition that she wouldn't come between them.
He's done the same thing.
He's remained single for him. All his love he's freely given to the boy from the first time he set eyes on him. His love for him is unconditional. It was immeasurable to none and incomparable. Danny knew this.
He may have done some certain things he is not very proud of but he would gladly do them all over again if it meant protecting what belonged to him and Danny belonged to him.
He protected him from his wife. From Selene Zephyrine and from the two girls he couldn't remember what their names were.
They were irrelevant, that's what they were.
And he was more than delighted to protect him from Christie. The only thing stopping him from doing so was the love he saw in his son's eyes for that woman. He knew Danny shouldn't be loving anyone else that much but he wasn't threatened by that because he knew the love Danny has for him goes way beyond what he holds for that ungrateful woman.
**~~**
She was a nobody, just an ordinary girl waiting tables at a local coffee shop. He built an empire for his son and she came and inherited all. The mansions, the cars, the companies, the money. He gave all he owned over to his son and now that he is married to that woman, she walks the grounds like a Queen, basking in his and his son's wealth while still wishing she could get rid of him.
Pathetic.
He feels sorry for her because if he needs her gone today, all he needs to do is ask his son and it's bye-bye Christie. Danny would only mourn her for a few weeks and he would be over her.
Besides, there are still millions of fish in that river if he decides to go fishing again.
"I'm alright, Dad..." Danny smiled softly into the man's eyes.
"Now, that's what I like to see." Williams chuckled lightly, his left arm brushed up against his son's and he felt him shiver at the contact. His heart swelled with pride within him. No matter what, he would always own the utmost control over Danny.
His priceless possession.
"Thanks, Dad." Heat rose under his ears and he swallowed loudly before returning to the task at hand.
"There is somewhere I would like to take you today so cancel all appointments because you're spending the whole day with Me." He winked and Danny near melted away into the hot pan of scrambled eggs.
His hand wrapped around the handle of the pan too tightly as he forced a good amount of air down his burning lungs.
"Something smells delicious." A voice boomed, breaking the intense moment shared between father and son and as Williams returned to a seating position, Danny set the table for breakfast as the kids gathered around the magnificent island.
"Good morning, Dad... Good morning, Grandpa." They all chorused as they sat, each grabbing their filled plates and digging away hungrily.
They only eat this good when he cooks.
"Morning, kiddos!" Williams greeted while Danny simply nodded in acknowledgment, his vocal cords were paralyzed. Only one person could reduce him to such a state. He's always had that power over him.
"Where is, Mom?" Mika asked, shoving a fork full into her mouth.
Clearing his throat, he tried to form words. "She... had an early start." Danny finally found his voice. He caught Louis staring at him...again and he gave a warm smile his stepson's way. The boy smirked and went back to eating. "You all better hurry or you're going to be late." He felt those eyes on him once again as he ate but he didn't bother looking this time, he already knew who they belonged to.
They ate in silence after that only laughing when DJ would make funny remarks every once in a while and they would laugh at his silly jokes. Danny appreciates it when his son makes jokes. He worries about the boy since he's always mostly preferred his own company. He barely ever interacts with the rest of the family. He remembered the day they had adopted the boy, he captured his heart from a distance when he saw him sitting all by himself under the shades of a tree reading a book. He didn't understand why but he saw his younger self in that boy and he wouldn't let him go thus the reason behind his name, Danny Jr. He only wished his son could talk to him more often. He tried to be open with his kids, to make them understand they could come to him at any time and with anything.
Louis understood that but DJ seems to be holding back on something.
Danny has made it his priority to find out what that something was. Only it would be a lot faster if DJ would speak to him about his troubles.
"Bye, Dad... Bye Grandpa!" Both DJ and Mika hugged their father and Grandpa but Louis kissed him on the left cheek and fist-bumped their Grandpa which emitted a burst of laughter from all of them.
"Drive safe." Danny cautioned his children, well mostly Louis since he is the oldest and the one who drives them to school.
"I always do." He winked at his stepdad as they walked out of the door.

"Well, I'll clean up here and you can go in there and make the calls, grab my wallet and meet me down here so we can leave," Williams spoke from the counter already loading the dishes into the washer. Danny walked towards his father and threw his arms around him, crushing the man into his chest in a warm hug. "I know she's given you troubles this morning. I promise to make your day the greatest." Williams mumbled from their hug, he pressed his lips into his neck kissing that sensitive spot. The action caused Danny's breath to hitch and then he exhaled calmly. "I love you," Williams affirmed.
Danny pulled away from their hug but their hands stayed entwined. He gazed deeply into his father's eyes and for a moment there he forgot how to breathe. "I love you too...always," Danny whispered back, withdrew from him completely, and made his way upstairs.
Williams watched the retreating back of his son and a smile so wide graced his face.
