P.L.A.Y.ED

My phone rang at 9:00 pm, I was

studying with my classmates, I quickly pick it up, it was my mom, she

sounded like she had been crying.

"Mom calm down, whats wrong? did

something happen?" I asked with worriedly.

"Honey, its your sister, she's in the

hospital fight for her life." she said shrieking.

I stood up in shock, "What!" I said

and everyone in the room turned to look at me at me. I was shaking my

friend Sasha stood with me, she held my hand and she felt that I was

shaking.

"What's wrong Jennet?" she asked, I

was still in shock, "Jennet!" she said and snap out of it.

"I have to leave, I've to go home."

I said in panic, I walked out of the study room and went to the

boardinghouse, my my friend Sasha followed me.

"Are you gonna tell me what's going

on?" she asked with concern in her voice.

"It's my sister, she in a coma." I

said holding my face. "What happened to her?" she asked.

"Am not really sure." I said as I

opened the door to my room, I went straight to my bag and began

packing. "Are you leaving right now?"

"Yes." I said not stopping and

Sasha grabbed my hand, I stopped to look at her. "C'mon are you

crazy, its late plus its a 3hrs drive, you can leave early in the

morning." she said, I looked her for a minute, I thought about what

she said and it made sense. I stopped packing and just sat on the

bed. The night went by slowly and I hardly slept.

I got up at 05:00am and I hit the road

it was a long drive. On my way, I ran into a girl she was on the side

of the road, I stopped and I gave her a ride, she looked to be 17yrs,

she had fair long hair and was also pretty.

"Thank you, you saved my life." she

said putting on the seat belt.

"What were you doing in middle of

nowhere." I asked not looking at her.

"I was with my boyfriend but the

idiot left me cause we had a disagreement, so he kicked me out of his

car." she said.

"I would have called my brother but I

left my in his car." she said frustratingly.

"What an asshole." I said.

"Am Jennet by the way." I said with

a smile.

"Nice to meet you, Am Ruth." she

said smiling back. For some reason she reminded me of my sister and I

couldn't imagine what was happening to her. I dropped Ruth off at a

cafeteria, we said our goodbyes and I drove off.

I got home and there was no one home. I

just dropped my bag in my and I drove straight to the hospital, I got

there and I found my parents were just clinched in each other as

arms, tears were falling from my mom's cheeks, "Mom, Dad." I said

and they both turned to look at me.

"Jennet, what are you doing?" Dad

asked surprisedly. I just ran to them and hugged both of them, out

saying a single word. "Mom called me and I felt I needed to be for

my sister." I said looking at them.

"How is she?" I asked worriedly.

"Not so good, the doctor said she as

to undergo surgery." dad said looking down.

"What happened?" I asked, "we

don't no exactly what caused this, we just received a call from one

of her friends." mom said in a soft voice.

"Can I go and see her now?" I asked

looking at them. The doctor came out before they could answer,

"Doctor, can we see her now?" I asked.

"Yes but its as to be one at a time."

the doctor said, as he led my parents to the room. I remained there,

moment later my brother showed up.

"Jennet, your here." he said as he

hugged me, "where hell have you been Jack?" I asked angrily. Jack

his the oldest among the three of us with just two years gap between

us.

"I was..., I went to get something."

he said. Moment later my parents came out holding each other, I went

in and she was just laying there with all these machines, I couldn't

help but wonder if she would ever wake up.

My parents told me to go home, shower

and rest a bit, I went home it was 8:00pm. I got home took a shower

and ate something, I wasn't in mood to prepare anything, so I just

ordered some take away. I went to my room but I couldn't stop

thinking about how this happened, I woke up to my alarm clock, it was

07:00Am in the morning, I checked my phone and I had 10 messages and

4 missed call it was my friend Sasha. I called her back, the phone

rang for only a few before she answered.

"Jennet." she said, she sound like

she was sleeping.

"Were you sleeping?" I asked.

"No.., I was.., yeah, I was sleeping.

Tell me did you get home safe? How is Sophie?" she asked waiting

for me to answer.

"Yes I made it safe, she's not okay,

she's in a coma." I said looking up. "Am so sorry." she said. "

What happen to her? What caused this?" Sasha asked.

"I don't know but I'll find out what

happened." I said.

"Don't worry she'll get better, just

have faith." she said. All of sudden I heard something in the

kitchen, I went to the kitchen a little scared. It was my brother, he

was doing.

"Morning Jennet." he said not

looking at me.

"Morning, When did you come home?"

I asked standing there waiting for a response but before he could

answer, I heard a knock on the door, I went over to the door and

opened it, it Carly my sister's best-friend, she had short black

hair, blue eyes and also cute.

She was at the door, "Jennet! Hi?"

she said, she looked surprised to see me.

"Yeah, Am here for my sister." I

said holding the door. I was curious to know what happened to my

sister, what lead to her problem, if anyone knew something it was

Carly.

"I came to found out how she is

doing." she said with concern on her face.

"Honestly, it doesn't look good." I

said running my hand through my long blonde hair. I had to ask if she

knew something, "I be going to the hospital, any moment, you could

come with if you want." I asked looking at her.

"Okay, yeah." she Said..

"Do you wanna come in and wait for

me? I'll only take a min." I said as she walked and sat in the

living. I rushed to my room and put on a blue dress that was just

above the knee, I walked out and we got in my car.

"Am..., you were with Sophie when she

fell ill, right?" I asked not looking at her.

"Yeah." she said nervously.

"Can you please tell me what happened

to her?" I said.

"Well.. I am..., we were sitting and

of all sudden she just fell to floor, I don't know why." she said

stuttering. I turned to look at her and she quickly looked away, I

don't know but I felt that she wasn't telling me the truth.

"You are not lying to me are you?"

I said not taking my eye of her. She answered anxiously, for some

reason I felt like she was been completely honest, I drove off and it

was a silent drive to the hospital, 20mins later we reached the

hospital and she couldn't wait to get out of the car, we walked in

and my mother was sitting on one of the chairs, she was just there

alone lost in her thought. "Hi, mom." I said, holding her

shoulder.

"Hi, girls." Mom said.

"Hey Mrs. Bolden." Carly said. "Am

how Sophie? As she woken up yet?" she asked.

"No sweetie she's still in a coma."

she said looking away sadly, I was staring at Carly as soon she heard

that Sophie was still in a coma, she looked relief.

"Were is dad?" I asked looking

around

"He went to get us coffee." she

said sitting down and I sat beside her put my arms around her, it was

sad to her sad look that. "Would you like to go see her?" I asked

looking at Carly. She looked surprised. "Yeah!" she mumbled

getting up from her sat.

We walked out after half an hour, my

father was already back and he was just holding my mom in his arms.

My mom always taught us to be strong in situations like this, but I

could see it on her face that this was hurting her in even tho' she

didn't want to show it. My mom as always been a tough woman. The

doctor walked over to us with a sheet of paper in hands.

"She need a heart transplant and if

we don't find a donor soon she's gonna die." the doctor said with a

sad look on his face, my mom just fell to her knees in tears, my dad

just lifted her up and hugged her. I never felt so downhearted like

the way I felt in that moment.

I looked at Carly and she was just in

disbelief, she looked back at me with shock on her face. We stayed

for about 1hrs. Carly said goodbye to my parents before I took her

home. We walked to my car but before we got in Carly stopped me.

"Um.. Jennet, I've to tell you

something." she said. "Your sister was seeing someone." she

said not looking at me.

"What!" I said dumbstruck.

"I don't know how they met, but she

seemed to really like him." she said looking down.

"Did you ever meet this guy?" I

asked.

"Um, once to tell you the truth, I

never liked him but your sister was head over heels for him, she

heard that he had another girlfriend, and when she caught them

kissing, she confronted him and that's how she fainted." she said.

"What's his name?" I asked, I was

boring with anger, I wanted to see that bastard who put my sister in

that state. I was gonna make him pay, teach him a lesson he'll never

forget in his life.

"His name's Louis." she said

looking down. I took Carly, we got to her home she got off, "Ain't

you gonna come in." she asked before she got off.

"Maybe next time, say Hi, to everyone

for me." I said as I drove off. I went back to the hospital, I got

there and my brother was already there, My parents were just in pain

and I hate to see them like that. The next day I got a call from

Carly she asked if I could meet her at a cafeteria, I went there, I

walk in the place was full of teens, I looked around until I saw

Carly she was sitting in the far left corner, she gestured for me, I

walked over to her and sat, before she said anything she just pointed

to the table on the far right corner.

I slowly turned my head to look in the

direction she was pointing and there he was seated laughing with a

bunch of friends but what caught my attention was the girl sitting

beside him he had his arm around her, I was filled with rage, I just

wanted to run over there and squeezed the life out of him.

"That's him the one with short black

shine hair." she said looking at me. I just stared at them for a

couple of seconds.

"What do you plan to do?" she

asked. "Am gonna give him a taste of his only medicine." I said

not taking my eyes off him.

"How to you plan to do that?" she

asked bewildered. Moment later he and his friends got up, and headed

for the door with his arm around his supposed girlfriend but before

he walked out , we just stared at each other, until he walked out.

That bastard he will pay, "Was that his girlfriend." I asked

curiously.

"I suppose, he is a player." I

said. Later am at the hospital, my phone rang and I answered it, it

was Sasha, "How you doing, Jennet?" she asked concernedly. " I

am not great but neither is Sophie." I said.

"How is she?"

"Not good we need to find a donor or

she will die and we're running out of time." I said. "Am sorry,

anything yet on the guys?" she asked.

"Yes, I know who he is and I'll...."

I said.

"You'll what?"

"Give him a taste of what he

deserves." I said angrily.

I looked to my right and saw Jack, come

in my direction, holding the hand of the girl he was with, they got

to were I was seated and she was the girl, and she was the girl I

helped. "I talk to you later, okay." I said as I hung-up, I got

up. "This is my other sister....." he said.

"Jennet!" she said with a grin on.

"Ruth, what are you doing here?" I asked giving her a hug.

"You girls know each other?" he

asked surprisedly.

"Yes, we've met." I said looking at

her but then something crossed my mind, "Am so when I find you on

the road was it him..who..." I asked. She just nodded, I was pissed

at him and walked to were he was standing, I just give him a punch to

the gut. He bend over hold is gut, "What was that for?" he asked.

"For leaving your girlfriend in

middle of the road, idiot!" I said angrily. I turned to Ruth who

was in shock, "He'll never do it again." I said assuredly, and

she give me a smile.

"Where is mom and dad?" he asked

standing up straight.

"I didn't find them when I got here."

I said looking at him.

"Hey, Jennet I just want to say that

am sorry, about your sister." she said and I just give her hug,

"Thanks, Ruth." I said letting go.

"Do you want anything to drink?" He

asked looking at us, "Yes. I'll have coffee, please." I said.

"Yeah, me too." Ruth said. "Okay,

I be back." he said as he walked away. Later and was home sitting

in my room contemplating everything that was happening. I looked at

my clock and it was 10Pm, walked out of my room and downstairs to the

living room, cause I couldn't sleep, I found my mom sitting in the

living room crying, I never seen her this so distressed, she just sat

there crying in silence when all of us were asleep, I just stood

there staring at her, my eyes begin to get watery, so I just wiped

the liquid out of my cheeks, before she saw me.

"Mom." I said in low voice. She

turned to look at me, "Honey, what are you doing up this time?"

she asked wiping away the tears in her eyes.

"I couldn't sleep." I said walking

to her and I sat beside her, and she just wrapped her arms around me.

She was hurting inside, even though she didn't want to show it, she

always taught us to be strong, but every time I saw her crying the

more, my hatred grew for that bastard I had to do something about

this fast. I woke up on the couch, the next morning with a covered

with a bed sheet. I looked around but my mom wasn't there, I sat up

running my hand through my long blonde hair, my phone rang and pick

it up. "Hey Jennet, how're thing there?" Sasha asked.

"Not good but how're you? What's

going on there?" I asked.

"Well thing are okay here, I just

wanted to let you know we've a test coming up this week." she said.

I didn't want to live my mom but I had to back to college, "Thanks

Sasha." I said in low voice.

" Jennet her you okay?" she asked

with concern.

"Am fine, don't worry." I said as I

hung up.

If I was leaving soon, I might as well

leave things in order, for when I come back. Later in the after noon,

I decided to pass by the, I stopped at a restaurant, I walked in and

they were just a few people, just how I like it.

I walked to the seat in the corner and

sat. Minutes later a waitress walked to me, "Hey Jennet, ready to

order something?" she said with a soft smile. I've been coming here

since I was a 10yrs, so all the staff pretty much know me, "hey

Becky, Am gonna have a coke please, Thanks" I said trying to force

a smile. As she wrote something on a piece of paper she was holding.

"Okay, you got it." she said as she

turned to walk away but before she could take two steps she was

stopped by a manly voice, "And am gonna have a omelet and a coke.

Thanks beautiful." he said with a smirk, turned to see who it was

and it was that bastard Louis.

Becky just giggled as she walked away.

Who does this idiot think he his, he even as the nerve to sit with

me, I just looked at him with disdain. He turned his attention to me,

I felt like jumping over to him and just.. "May I join you?" he

asked looking at me. "Your already seated." I said my gaze not

living him. "Am Louis." he said holding out a hand. I really

despised this guy, but I took his hand, "April." I said.

"Cute name." he said looking at me.

"You know, look very familiar have we

met before?" he asked staring me intensely.

"Am pretty much sure we've never met

before." I said not breaking my stare, Becky came back with my

holding a plate and beverage, and put both on Louis, "Here you

go." she said put it down.

"Thank you." he said with a smirk.

"What about me, I came here first."

I said angrily.

"Sorry, you drink will be ready

soon." she said as walked back to the kitchen. "Here you can have

mine." he said. "No! but I'll wait for my mine." I said looking

at him with a frown. "Sorry, about all this." he said, and he

just put the coke in my hands. "Sorry! you think sorry is gonna fix

anything." I yelled. And he just looked me dumbfounded, "You

okay? April." he asked and I snap out it.

"Am sorry about that, am just going

through a lot right now." I said not looking at him.

"Don't think about it to much." he

said. "I don't know what your going through but sometimes, there is

just nothing we can do, but pray and hope for the best." he said

seriously.

I just stared at him, Becky came back

with my coke and she put it on the table, "Here you go." she said

looking at Louis who was looking at her and he just winked at her

before she walked away smiling.

"Why do you do it?" I asked. He

turned and look at me confused, "Do what?" he said with a

stupefied look.

We just stared at each other for a

moment, until my phone rang I picked it and was my brother Jack,

"whats-up bro?" I said taking sip from my coke.

"Mom wants talk to you, I think we

found a donor." he said on the other side of the line.

I almost jumped out of my seat, "What!"

I yelled and everyone just looked me. "I've to go." I said as I

picked up my things. "Will I see you again?" he asked looking at

me. I stopped and looked at him for second, "You'll it's

inevitable." I said as I head for the exit.

I got to the hospital and my family were all there waiting, "Whats happening?" I asked breathing heavily.

"We're waiting for family of the men who as just passed." Jack said looking at me. Moment later the family of the man came crying my parents were on the wait list, they walked to the doctor's office.

They walked out with there heads down and I knew something was wrong, my mother just looked at me and shook her head, for a moment I felt hopeful. I just sat back on the chair holding my head.

"Its okay we find another donor." Jack said sitting beside me putting is arm around me to comfort me, I just nodded my head. Later am in my bed I couldn't sleep, my phone rang, it was 09:00pm, I wondered who could be calling me at this time, I answered, "Hello." I said.

"Hey April." he said on the other line.

Voice sound familiar wait. "Louis!" I said surprised. "Yeah, sorry for calling at this hour, but I can't sleep and you came into my mind." he said. "Me?" I asked bewildered, "of all you girlfriends I was the first to come to your mind?" I asked not really falling for is charms.

"Yes, is that hard to believe? Um...... her you busy tomorrow?" he asked. This was what I was waiting for, "Let me check my schedule, I think am free." I said. "Awesome, I pick you at your place at seven o'clock, just send me your address." he said happily.

"Actually let's just meet at the restaurant." I said quickly. "Okay, see you then sweet dreams." he said on the other side.

"Same." I said as I hung up, thing were falling into place all that is left is to make him fall me. I dialed Sasha's number and she picked up immediately, "How are you girl?" she asked, "I can't say, am fine cause of what's happening." I said in low voice.

"Don't worry she get better you see, so when her you coming?" she asked waiting for the answer.

"Next week but before I leave I want to live that bastard with a taste." I said angrily. "So your serious about this thing?" she asked with concern in her voice. "Yes, I intend to make him feel it." I said with certainty. "He asked me out." I said chuckling.

"Did he... Just be careful." she said seriously. There was a moment of silence between us, I had to break the silence, "so am... how your boyfriend?" I asked, I could hear her chuckle on the other side of the line, "He okay." she said with humor.

We continued talking for an half an hour, until I fell sleep, I woke up the next morning and had very bad nightmare, I sat on my bed a little groggy, I walked to the bathroom took a quick, the hot water really felt great on my skin, I got out the and then I remember that I had a date.

I walked downstairs was no sign of anyone in the house, I walked to the kitchen, I found a note on the table.

"Morning honey there is food in the fridge, we've to leave early the doctor wants to tell us some, your mom." I put the note back on the table.

I went back upstairs took, I checked my phone and there was a text from Louis, "Morning cute pie, ready for the big day?" It read and I just sighed, second later my phone rang. I picked it up and was Louis, "Hey beautiful." he said on the other side.

"Please don't call me that." I said seriously, "call you what?" he asked wearily in his voice. I was silence for a moment, "Am... I'll see you there." I said as hung up before he could say anything.

shit! I have to keep it together when I am around him, I went to the shower and took a cold shower, it felt good. I finished and did my make-up, I tight my long hair in a ponytail and I put on a off shoulder white dress that is above the knee, I went downstairs and Jack was in the living room with Ruth just cuddled together in there seat.

"Hey guys." I said and they quickly turned to who it was, and I think they were relieved to see it was me.

"Where are you going all dressed up, are you going on a date?" Jack asked looking at me.

"No idiot! Am going to see a friend." I said with a frown, he wasn't convinced.

"Anyways have to go, don't do any I wouldn't do." I said as walked away and Ruth chuckled, I walked the door. I got to my car, I drove off I got to the restaurant and it was full, mostly teens couple, I looked around but Louis was nowhere to be seen, this pissed me off, I was about to turn and leave when I heard someone call my name or what he thought was my name. "April!" I was so pissed that I didn't looked back until he called a third time, I turned and he was standing there in a white shirt, a leather jacket on, a black jean trouser, he just looked so hot in that bad boy look, I walked to where he was.

"You look so beautiful." he said with a grin.

"You don't look bad yourself." I said smiling, he ushered to us seat we sat down and all the while he was just glaring at me intensely, that my cheeks begin to turn reddish, "Why are you looking at me like that?" I said giggling.

"Because your beautiful, I mean that." he said his eyes fixated on mine.

"How many girls have you said that to." I said looking at him a little smugged, his the smile on his face vanished and was replace with disappointment.

"Why do you think that?" he asked resting his hand on the table, but before I could answer a girl came over to where we were sitting. She just looked at me with disdain. "Hi, Louis." she said with a smile.

"Hey Laura good to see you." he said standing up to hug her, "Um, this is April." he said as I held out my hand looked at my hand then to me, and she just said "Hey." out avoiding my hand which was rude.

"What are you doing?" she asked. "Another one of your...." she said looking at me.

"Wait what! Am not one of his...whatever you think I am." I said angrily and she just stared at me arms cross looking at me from head to toe with disdain in her look.

How rude, "I'll see you later." she said as she wink at him, and he just smile at it, he turned to me and I was ready looking at him with rather annoyed expression, I just stood up and headed for the door.

The followed me calling my name, I walked and he grabbed my hand, "Stop, am sorry." he said not letting go of my hand. "Who was that?!" I asked turning to face him. "She is um..., was my..." he said stuttering. "your what?! Your girlfriend." I said looking at him.

"Okay she was, but it all over now, right now the only one I want is you." he said looking me deep in my blue eyes as I looked him in his brown eyes.

All of a sudden I felt a warm feeling like, he was telling me the true, we stared at each for second but it felt like a century. I broke the stare as I took my hands out of his,

"Come let go." he said holding out his hand. Which I took we walked to his car, we got in and he drove off we.

"Where are you taking? Are you kidnapping me?." I said sarcastically.

He looked at me with an evil smile on. "No one will ever know." he said looking at me jokingly.

We reached a place in the wood, it was so quite that the only thing I could hear were the bird singing, he pack the car and we got out, it was so quiet you could hear yourself think.

I held my hand tight, he just looked at me with a soft smile as if to tell me I was safe. We walked for about five minutes, and I slowly began to hear people laughing and talking, until we reached a place, people were sitting in a circle and there was a fire going in the middle, one of the guys sitting got up when saw us.

"Louis! You made it." one of the guys said, getting up. He looked at Louis then me.

"Who is this pretty? Lady." the guy asked looking at me.

"Am April this is Erik." he said as he took hold of my hand, "Nice to meet, April." he said softly.

We walked to a log and we sat. There was a girl sitting just from me, she was just staring at me. I looked to my to right and there was another girl looking at with a sinister look on her face. She was holding a cup with both hands, I just looked away, Louis looked at me, "What's wrong?" Louis asked with concern, "Nothing." I said faking a smile, he wasn't convinced. "I be right back." Louis said before he got up and followed his friend.

Louis got up and went to talk to one of his friends, then the girl that was looking at me, over to where I was sitting and sat, "Hi, Am April." I said looking at her, holding out my hand. She just looked at my hand and said. "Erica." how rude, I remove my hand.

"So how long have you two been going out?" she asked taking a sip from her cup. I stare at her dumbfounded, "You and Louis." she said looking at me.

"We ain't really going out." I said. "You do know that he doesn't fall for girl your type." she said looking at me from head to toe.

"What do you mean girls my type?" I asked. She just give me a wicked smile and walked away. What a bitch, I got up and went to look for Louis, I bumped into a fairly guy, who seemed like a really nice guy. I asked where I could find Louis, he show me, I walked to where he pointed too, he was with a guy. I could hear voices as I got closer the voice become clear, "So new girlfriend." the guy said. "She just a friend." Louis said. "No girl is just a friend to you." the guy said. "I just want hit it, and move on, you know how it goes." he said as they laughed, I went back angry and upset, I picked up a drink, a drank guy walked to where I was standing alone.
