Chapter 1 New World

"Elijah! Elijah!"

A man in his early thirties yelled as he called out to a figure whose head was on the table, frustration written all over his face.

"Huh?" The figure froze and raised his head revealing a handsome young teenager around the age of sixteen, confusion written all over his face.

"Elijah, are you supposed to be sleeping while I'm teaching?" The man fumed in anger as he looked at the boy.

"You'll fail the exams if you continue this way, no university would be willing to accept you."

"Already you failed your written exams, and all your aptitude tests are nothing to write home about, yet you refuse to listen and instead you choose to sleep." The man continued.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Ethan," Elijah mumbled an apology as he said.

"You...." The teacher said angrily as he pointed at Elijah.

"Don't you think he's too arrogant?"

"Shh, you'd better keep quiet. Even the teachers don't dare offend him, he has the protection of his sister who is a level 7 mage at Boston University!"

Elijah's classmates whispered to each other as they glanced at him, none daring to say anything to him.

Elijah on the other hand sighed as he tried to focus on what the teacher was doing, but he just couldn't. At this moment, his mind was in turmoil. How did he get here?

Didn't he just die? Yeah, he was very sure of it, he had died, killed in a homicide. He could still very much remember how he had gotten shot, and he could still feel the burning pain in his skull.

"Where the hell am I?" Elijah muttered as he looked around.

He thought he had died, but unexpectedly, his soul had jumped and taken over the body of another on this planet. Seemed like the Gods didn't want him to die yet.

"Arrrghhh!"

All of a sudden, the light pain in his head suddenly intensified and he couldn't help but groan out in pain as a lot of information rushed into his head at the moment.

This planet was called the Blue Star planet and it was just like Earth, but with something different.

Millions of years ago, a strange phenomenon happened, the beasts mutated and they gained intelligence, then they started to attack humans forcing the humans into despair as they had no choice but to fight back.

But then it was not easy, weapons had little to no effects on them and thus, there were a lot of massacres. But as luck would have it, humans also started to awaken some special abilities.

Ranging from those who awakened the power of fire, water, earth, and many more abilities. Those who were unable to awaken these abilities became warriors and had a very strong body.

With this, they were able to fight back and push back the beast invasion. That time was known as the dark age for humans as a lot of lives were lost.

After successfully pushing back the beast, the humans started to grow once again, and then these abilities were divided from the weakest to the strongest. Fire and lighting were the strongest and most revered abilities of all time.

Also, there was a division in the level of powers, ranging from level 9 to level 1 with level 9 as the weakest and level 1 as the strongest. Those who were not able to awaken abilities cultivated their bodies to the highest level and were able to rival those with abilities.

Those who were able to awaken abilities were called mages. It was said that mages were very powerful and they could split the sea, raise the mountains, and even pluck the stars.

Another war suddenly broke out between the humans and the beast in the past years, it was then Elijah's parents who were well-known powerful mages disappeared after going to the Frontline.

Since then, Elijah had been taken care of by his sister who was a genius and had awakened the lightning abilities and was now a level 7 mage at Boston University, one of the best universities.

Since his sister was a genius, everyone expected the same from him, but unfortunately, Elijah was very lazy and never took his studies seriously, making everyone despise him and look down on him.

But there was nothing they could do about it, his sister's reputation was too high, so they just couldn't expel him even though his grades were very bad, they knew how much his sister doted on him and were afraid of incurring her wrath. Also, what if he turned out to be a genius and awakened an ability just like her?

"Elijah, what the heck is wrong with you? First, you sleep in my class, and now, you are groaning. What the heck do you think you're doing? If you don't want to learn, then get the hell out of here." The teacher fumed.

Elijah who was relishing in the memories of his predecessor came back to his senses, but at the moment, he didn't want to stay any longer and immediately stood up, picked up his bag, and walked out of the class.

"Hey, where do you think you're going?" The teacher yelled looking at Elijah who had walked out of the class.

"I'm tired, I need to rest, I'm tired of staying at school." Elijah waved his hands and soon his figure disappeared.

The teacher's face turned black in anger hearing Elijah's reply. Even though the latter was known for his laziness, he still didn't have such an attitude, as a result, he wondered what had happened to the latter.

"I hope you never come back again in your life." The teacher fumed walking back into the class.

Elijah on the other hand could care less about everything, and quickly, he got home. Elijah's parents were rather rich as the house where he was living was not small nor was it big.

Opening the door, Elijah threw his bag on the sofa, walked into his room, and fell onto the bed, before he knew what was going on, he drifted into a deep sleep.

Chapter 2 Awakening Ceremony

"Wake up Elijah, it's time for you to go to school, or do you want to miss the awakening ceremony." A soft feminine voice said as she shook Elijah who was sleeping like a log of wood.

"Mmmm, I want to sleep a bit longer," Elijah muttered as he turned around on the bed.

"You've been sleeping for more than half a day, besides, you have to go for the awakening ceremony, so be a good boy and get up." The feminine voice said with a smile on her face.

"Sister, I want to..."

Elijah muttered, but all of a sudden, he stopped in between his words and his eyes opened almost immediately before he jumped out of the bed in fright.

"Sister, what are you doing here?" Elijah yelled as he looked at the figure, at the same time using the quilt to cover his body.

From his predecessor's memories, his sister was at the university, and as a result, she didn't get to come home except once a month, so yesterday, he had slept butt naked.

Emily rolled her eyes as she looked at Elijah with a smile on her face, "Why can't I come back?"

"But you weren't supposed to come back till about two weeks..." Elijah shuttered as he looked at Emily.

"I came back yesterday afternoon and met you sleeping, I didn't want to disturb you so I left you alone. But you'll miss the awakening ceremony if you continue to sleep this way." Emily said with a smile on her face.

"Alright, you should get ready and go to school for the awakening ceremony and see what talent you'll awaken, don't disappoint me brother." Emily laughed as she walked out of the room.

At that moment, Elijah realized that his sister had come back for his awakening ceremony and he couldn't help but sigh. He couldn't help but feel a twinge in his heart, back on earth, he was an orphan, his parents had died leaving him all by himself.

He had no one taking care of him, so he felt touched seeing Emily, coming back from the University which was far from their house just to celebrate his awakening ceremony. Pushing all matters to the back of his mind, he hurried out of bed as he was also excited.

As a modern person, he wanted to see what abilities he could awaken. He had watched many movies back on earth about people with magical powers and couldn't wait to awaken him.

"Elijah, eat something before you go. It's not too late." Emily called out from the kitchen seeing Elijah walking out of his room.

"Don't worry sis, I'll eat when I get back," Elijah said as he rushed out of the house.

In no time, Elijah got to school, the atmosphere at school was super different. Today was the awakening ceremony. As a result, many students who had come of age and were going to awaken today were very excited.

Elijah smiled as he walked to the large hall which was to be used. From his predecessor's memories, that was the place they were to use for the awakening.

Soon Elijah got to the hall, walking in, the hall which was big enough to accommodate a thousand people was now filled with people. On the podium were reserved seats obviously for people sent by the universities to snatch those who were able to awaken powerful talents.

Elijah smiled and sat in a corner as he waited for the ceremony to begin. His predecessor didn't have any friends because of his reputation. Elijah was feeling rather comfortable as he praised his predecessor in his heart.

Being lazy also had its perks, he was very comfortable at the moment and he couldn't help but thank him in his heart while he waited for the ceremony to start.

Soon, the principal of the school walked into the hall, beside him were the people sent to recruit young talent.

Seeing him, the hall immediately became silent as everyone became excited. The principal walked up onto the podium and gave a small speech, and soon the awakening ceremony began.

"Amelia Johnson."

The person in charge of the ceremony called as he looked at a long list of names.

Next, a tall girl around the age of Elijah walked to the podium, and placed her hands on the big blue stone, soon, a powerful red light shone almost illuminating the whole hall and everyone froze in shock.

"Fire ability; Talent excellent." The person in charge of the ceremony said as he looked at the girl in shock.

"Don't you know that she's from the family of fire mages?"

"It'll be strange if she also doesn't awaken a fire ability."

Many students began to whisper to themselves as they looked at Amelia in shock.

"Amelia Johnson, my name is Bradford Carter, from Boston University, if you join our university, we'll provide you the resources that'll cultivate you to a level one mage and also you'll have the full support of our university and study under the best lecturer in the university." A tall man stepped forward.

"Amelia Johnson, I'm Edward from Edgar University, though we can't promise to provide you with Cultivation resources to cultivate you to the level one mage, we promise we'll do our best." Another man, a short chubby man stepped forward.

Soon, the others also stepped forward and offered their benefits not wanting to lose out on such a talent. It would be a loss if they lost on such a talent.

After a while, Amelia finally accepted the offer of the person from Boston University before going back to her seat.

"James Edward." The person calling the names called the second name right after Amelia went to sit.

Soon, a tall lanky figure walked up onto the podium and put his hands on the big blue stone.

Soon, a black light shone, turning the place into darkness almost instantly.

Elijah frowned as he looked at the light, he couldn't understand what light was and what it represented.

His predecessor didn't care about books, as a result, he could recall any of the Elements which was said to emit a black light on awakening.

"Shadow element; Rare; Talent, excellent."

The man's voice came, bringing Elijah out of his thoughts.

Elijah nodded as he finally remembered what ability it was. The abilities were also divided, some were common and those were rare and there were also super rare.

The rare and super rare were also divided as there were some said to be useless. Even the super rare categories, like the fire and lighting elements which were said to be the strongest, were some said to be useless in their categories.

"Water element; Talent: Average."

"Space element; super rare; Talent: Average."

"Earth Element; Talent: Low."

----

----

-----

The person calling out the names and talents said incessantly as he called out the abilities of students who came up to the podium to get their talents awakened.

Elijah watched lazily as the person called out the talents while waiting for his name to be called.

Out of the five hundred-plus students that had been called, only two students had awakened the super-rare elements which were the fire and the space element.

"Elijah Darkwood."

Elijah suddenly heard his name, at the same time, his body jolted violently as he stood up and walked towards the podium slowly.

"Isn't that Emily's Younger brother?"

"Yes, I bet he's going to awaken either the lighting element just like his sister or the fire element."

"He's lucky, he has a good bloodline, there's a chance that he might awaken both elements."

"Don't you think it's impossible, only freaks can awaken two elements at the same time."

Whispers went all around as everyone looked at Elijah expectantly, even though he was known for his lazy attitude, they still wondered if he would be able to awaken a super rare element.

Getting to the podium, Elijah braced himself and put his hands on the big blue stone. Immediately, he felt a surge of energy rush into his body. The next moment, a formless light lit up and spread all around the place.

"Huh?" Everyone froze seeing this.

The person calling out the names was even more shocked, but soon, his expression changed as he looked at Elijah in disgust, and then he called out coldly.

"Clone ability; Super Rare; Talent: excellent."

Chapter 3 Level 9

"Huh?"

A collective gasp resounded throughout the hall as most of the students didn't know what the light represented and they couldn't help but look at Elijah with scorn. So what if his talent was excellent?

Even though the Clone ability was super rare, it was still considered the most useless as there was nothing one could do with the ability. At most, they would be able to create clones of themselves.

Even if they did create clones of themselves, they didn't know any destructive spell to fight and could only wait to be slaughtered. Besides, all the clones created would be ordinary.

At most, he could only become an average person in the future and waste his life away doing some menial jobs. He was a disgrace to his elder sister and parents.

The principal and other staff who were present shook their heads as they looked at Elijah in disdain. What good was it for them to have such trash in their school, they would only become a laughing stock.

At this moment, the principal made up his mind to expel Elijah right after the ceremony; he was not going to have such trash in his school.

Elijah looked at the principal who was looking at him without hiding the disdain in his eyes, and couldn't help but shake his head then, walked down the podium slowly and then out of the hall followed by many eyes.

Immediately he walked out, chatter broke out as everyone started whispering to each other.

"He's such a disgrace, he didn't awaken a useful element!"

"If I was the one, I'd go and commit suicide as I wouldn't be able to face anyone."

Elijah sighed as he walked back home. Opening the door, he saw his sister sitting on the sofa waiting for him.

Immediately she heard the door open, she turned around and looked at Elijah with a bright smile, excitedly, she asked.

"What ability did you awaken?"

"The clone ability," Elijah said as he walked toward his room.

"Huh?" Emily froze hearing what Elijah said and she couldn't help but feel disappointed.

After a while, she came back to her senses, but Elijah was no longer there. Immediately, she ran towards his room, but his door was locked.

"Elijah, open the door." Emily sighed as she said slowly.

"No sister, I want to be alone for now," Elijah replied.

"Just open the door," Emily sighed as she tried to persuade.

"No sister, I want to be alone, leave me alone," Elijah replied.

Emily sighed and didn't say anything, she could understand her brother's feelings and just wanted to console him. No matter how useless the ability he had awakened was, he was still her brother and nothing was going to change that position in her heart.

After thinking for a while, she decided to let him be, she was sure that he was going to come around soon. Then she would be able to console him and reassure him that she wasn't in any way disappointed.

Elijah on the other hand sighed as he lay on the bed looking at the ceiling. What the hell was happening? He had thought that he was going to awaken a destructive ability, but in the end, he had awakened the clone's ability.

How was this supposed to help him? He wanted to be unrestrained in this life, he wanted to be the most powerful and wouldn't have to be tied to any kind of rules. But it seemed like all his dreams were all for naught.

Besides, wasn't he supposed to awaken a golden finger, like a system or something? In the stories he had read, all the main characters had awakened a golden finger after something like this, and it seemed like his luck was terrible.

After a while, Elijah sighed and sat up, instead of brooding, he was going to see how the ability worked. How was he going to use it, there was no way he was going to agree to be a mediocre person.

Elijah crossed his legs and began to circulate his mana throughout his body, at first the circulation was slow, but soon, it became fast as the mana moved from his Mana core to all parts of his body.

In no time, Elijah felt exhausted as the mana in his body which was very little to begin with was exhausted and he could go no more, panting as though he had just run a race, he opened his eyes.

Huh?

Elijah froze as he looked at his side, by his side was another figure which looked exactly like him.

"Master!" The figure immediately went on his knees just as Elijah was staring at it making him even more shocked.

Elijah alighted from his bed slowly and looked at the figure carefully, he hadn't expected to produce a clone just by circulating his mana, besides, his mana was so small that it was only able to produce just one.

Thinking like this, Elijah immediately sat on the bed, crossed his legs, and started to absorb the surrounding mana into his body. He wanted to see if he would be able to create another clone after absorbing enough mana into his body.

After about an hour, Elijah opened his eyes, and much to his shock, the clone in front of him was also sitting cross-legged, absorbing mana just like he was.

Just as Elijah was staring at the clone, the clone slowly opened its eyes.

"I..."

"Puff..."

A low puffing sound came interrupting Elijah just as he was about to say something, and the next moment, the clone disappeared.

"What the fuck!" Elijah cursed as he wasn't expecting this.

But the next moment, he froze as he felt a warm stream of energy flow into his body, adding to the mana inside his Mana core, but at the moment, the mana was too much and the space in his Mana core was unable to hold it.

"Crack!"

A loud cracking sound suddenly resounded in Elijah's ears, and immediately he felt extremely comfortable, at the same time, the space in his Mana core became larger, about five times the size it was before.
