Olivia stood dead on her feet. Her entire world has been ripped away from her. She is aware that she should be relieved that she will no longer be tortured, but why is she unable to do so? Is it true that physical pain is more tolerable than mental pain?
She has been hurt in both physical and mental ways. It was not difficult to conclude that she is currently mentally unstable. This very thought made her laugh in her mind.
When has she ever been stable?
She has been suffering from the past two for almost three years. As a result, her life is already a living hell, and the incident that occurred today was just icing on the cake.
She can't say that what she is feeling today is anything new. She had already experienced these feelings three years ago. And it has only
gotten worse over time.
She isn't sure whether she should be happy or sad.
Finally, she would be able to leave this place for good. This place has a lot of bad and torturous memories for her. But where will she go
next? Where will she live now?
Oh, yes! She has to go and live with her godparents.
Olivia wants nothing more than to leave this place. She wishes to be free from this world. To flee her demons, which have been haunting her
for several years. But she has to stay strong. Not for her, not for anyone but HIM. The only reason for her to live. The only person who gives
her a sense of life.
Caleb couldn't believe what he was hearing. Seriously, it's atrocious! The whole situation is a total disaster. Instead of spending his entire
vacation in Hawaii with his family, they were forced to cut their trip short and fly back home. Even though there was only one week left, he
was still having a good time there. But his parents did not consider this. Instead of having the time of their lives, they want to help a lost
cause.
Okay!! He may have had more fun than he should have, and he didn't mind returning home, but the main reason for their early departure
from their vacation spot soured his mood.
When his mother called him to his suit, he was having fun at the beach, flirting with girls. That's when he learned that they needed to fly
back to the place, which was only a few hours away from their home. He wasn't told the specifics, just that they would have a new member
added to their family because she had nowhere to go. They revealed nothing else. When he asked, his father replied, "This is not our place
to tell."
Bullshit!!
He is their son. He has every right to know about the mysterious girl who is going to stay with them. But, for them, loyalty to their godchild
and best friends is far more important than loyalty to their own blood son.
One thing he is certain of is that this girl is a carbon copy of his older brother. He can say that confidently because, as he was leaving his
room, he overheard his mother and father whispering to each other. That allowed him to conclude that this girl is nothing more than a
mirror image of his so-called brother.
Caleb isn't usually this cruel. He is confident that if that mysterious girl stays with them, there is a severe reason for it. However, based on
what he has heard or instead gathered through eavesdropping, she may be the same as his brother.
That is his key problem.
Olivia sat in the corner of her house, waiting for the next instruction. Some cops were inspecting every inch of her home, and the chief
officer was speaking with her godmother and godfather.
After what happened yesterday, she has no choice but to stay with them from now on. She can't live on her own because she's still 17 years
old, and because of her unstable condition, they have advised her to stay with her godparents. She didn't have much choice.
Olivia was waiting patiently when her godparents approached her and engulfed her in a warm hug.
"Don't worry, sweetie; we will take good care of you." Ella, her godmother, explained.
"Yes, Honey, you are our responsibility now, and things will get easier to deal with each passing day," David said humbly to Olivia.
They finally left after a few more agonizing hours. Olivia's ride was not as long as she had anticipated, and she was soon at her new home.
She is very familiar with the area in which she will be living. How can she possibly forget this place? After all, it holds so many memories of
her life. The place where all of her happiness came to an end. This location marked the beginning of her misery.
But this is the only place where she truly belongs.
Her home.
Rosewood.
It would be an understatement to say her new family is wealthy. They are completely loaded. It is more than just a house. It's a big damn
castle.
"Come on, Livy. Let's get started in your new house," Ella said cheerfully.
Her eyes widened as she spoke. 'Livy,' she hasn't heard this word in four years. This word resurrected emotions she didn't want to feel
and didn't deserve to feel again. It was buried deep within her. But she couldn't bring herself to correct them. It hurts too much, but at
the same time, it feels good to hear this word again. Livy.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She will not say that this is the beginning of her new journey because she can never start over.
But this is a continuation of her old life.
The interior of the house is just as lovely as the exterior. The house is massive, with two floors. The interiors are well-designed. Olivia would have paid more attention to the interiors if she had been in better shape. But she was too preoccupied with the various thoughts racing through her mind, so she couldn't comprehend much in front of her.
Yes, she was awestruck here and there, but a flashback to her past life would send her back into depression mode.
"This is Caleb, my son, Livy." When Ella spoke, she was jolted back into the present. She was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't notice him standing right in front of her.
Caleb, Ella's son, was just standing there looking at her. She felt small and insecure as he studied her intently as if she were some kind of research project. Ella had already told her in the car that her son is the same age as hers and that she would be attending the same school as him.
He is one of the most attractive men Olivia has ever seen. He is much taller than she is. Where she is 5'4, he is 5'9. He was dressed in blue jeans and a red shirt, revealing his well-toned body. He has the most brilliant blue eyes she has ever seen.
But, for the time being, Olivia could only see the disappointment in his glassy eyes. She could easily tell that he didn't accept her here. Well, as usual, she is not heartily welcomed into this family.
'Wow!!!' So this is the new mystery girl who will be living in his house from now on. She's adorable. He was astounded by how much more beautiful she was than he had expected. He couldn't, however, give her the benefit of the doubt.'
When Caleb first saw her, these were the first thoughts that came to mind. But he could tell she was high just by looking at her. Her eyes appeared puffy and heavy. Dark black circles surrounded it. Nonetheless, he thought she was absolutely beautiful. He must have gone insane.
Why are people compelled to use drugs?
There are numerous other ways to be content. But no, they must use drugs.
Caleb hates dopers.
He walked away without looking back after his mother introduced him to her. Caleb was aware that his mother expected him to show her around and interact with her, but he refused to even look at her. She disgusts him. He knows he is being impolite, but anyone who is a drug addict sickens him.
Caleb left without properly acknowledging Olivia after the introduction. His eyes were filled with hatred and disgust, and she could see it in hers. Well!! It's not anything new to her. Surely, if it were any other girl, she would have been hurt, but not her. But, of course, if it had been any other girl, she would not have been treated this way in the first place.
As a result, when Caleb left, Ella apologized profusely on his behalf to her for his behaviour. The excuse given was the same as any other person would have given.
'He is not usually like this; he will come around once he gets to know you better.'
BIGGEST BULLSHIT EVER!!
She can confidently state that he will not be friendly to her any time soon.
Soon after, Ella showed Olivia her room.
The room was larger than the room in her previous residence. The queen-size bed was in the centre of the room. A large LED TV has been installed across from the bed. The window was on the left side of the bed, and her new wardrobe was on the right.
There was a dressing table next to the wardrobe. Her new room's walls were a sky-blue color. Olivia, unlike the other girls, prefers the color blue. For some reason, it always makes her feel calm. White may be the color of peace for everyone, but blue is the color of peace for her. She enjoys sitting on the sand and gazing out at the sea's aqua blue water. It makes her feel better.
"It is not much, but I hope you enjoy it," Ella said.
"It is perfect. Thank you so much." Olivia told her with sincerity. She owes everything to this family.
Ella then left her to unpack her belongings. Olivia afterwards went for a quick shower. Even her tears were flowing freely from her eyes as the water flowed from her body. The reality was beginning to sink in.
It was already nine o'clock after a long bath. She was in desperate need of a nap right now. One may not have been aware, but she was high today. She does not use drugs. She actually hates people who are addicted to them, but what could she do? After seeing her parents' bodies lying lifeless on the floor from a drug overdose, which was the only way, she could think of ending her life. She considered taking the death pills and ending her life so she could be with them. But, unfortunately, it wasn't enough to stop the heartbeat.
But not right now. It's all over now. She is finished with that life. She is also done with herself for good. It is time for her to embark on a new journey with a new self, one in which no one can ever hurt her or even remotely make her feel things she doesn't want or deserve to feel.
Olivia Brown is no longer visible to the rest of the world. She half died three years ago, and now that her parents are no longer alive. She is completely gone, with no trace of herself left.
With that, she fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.
After long hours of sleep, Olivia finally woke up at eight in the morning and went down. She walked into the kitchen and saw everyone munching on their breakfast on the chair in front of the table. This sight almost made her smile, but it didn't last long because she suddenly had a flashback to her life four years ago.
They were a happy family back then. Her mother would always prepare delicious meals for them, and her father would always assist her mother in the kitchen. Until then, she and Ja... Uh, they used to laugh or fight until their parents served the food, and they spent their time together like any other happy family.
Olivia didn't want to disturb their family moment, so she took a left and was about to return to her new room when Ella called her name.
The universe, as usual, has other plans for her.
"Livy, good morning. Take a seat and join us for breakfast."
She didn't want to, but she knew she needed to eat something because she had eaten nothing for three days.
Olivia pushed herself towards them and sat opposite Caleb, who was once again watching her every move. She took a toast and ate it quietly, only speaking when called upon.
"How was your sleep, honey?" Ella asked her gently.
"All right," she muttered quietly.
The tension was palpable in the air, and she knew it was her fault, so she excused herself after a single toast, only to be interrupted once more.
"Livy, you only ate one toast; a growing girl like you needs to eat more," she asked, a worried expression on her face.
"I am not really hungry," she admitted quietly.
Olivia was not lying when she said she wasn't hungry. She used to enjoy eating, but not any longer. She is not dieting or concerned about her weight, but her appetite has deteriorated with her happiness over time.
"At the very least, sit with us for a while." David insisted.
She sat down reluctantly, with a slight nod. Ella began talking to Caleb about the party he was going to in order to alleviate the awkwardness. She even asked him to take Livy with him, which caused her to choke on the water she was slowly sipping.
"Mom, she does not know who they are. They don't even know who she is. She will get bored there." Caleb was giving Ella excuses.
But only if he knows that the excuse which he was giving is not true at all. But she didn't care enough to correct him. As it is, she didn't want to attend any kind of party, but after a few seconds, an idea came to her.
"I won't mind going to this party," she said abruptly. "As you mentioned, I will be attending the same school as him, so this will be an excellent opportunity for me to get to know my peers. It will also serve as a nice distraction."
This earned her a glare from Caleb.
"So, it's settled then; you two are going to the party," her godmother cheerfully stated.
"Be ready by seven," Caleb said as he exited the room.
Olivia didn't want to make him angry or ruin his mood, but she had no choice. Anyway, she won't ruin his night at the party, so he should be fine.
She went to her room after saying her goodbyes to both of them.
The nerve of that girl!!
Caleb was beyond irritated at this point. When she showed up in the morning, he was actually feeling sorry for her and wanted to apologize for his behaviour the day before. But not right now, especially after the stunt she pulled.
When she was eating, he noticed that she had just eaten a single piece of toast. Even after the unknown tragic incident that occurred to her, she desired to maintain her body.
Sick!
Maybe he isn't aware of the incident, but he is sure that something terrible happened to cause her to be shipped here to live with her godparents. He didn't even know who his parents' best friends were, let alone her. He may have seen their picture as a child, but he has no recollection of it.
But that's beside the point.
Caleb isn't sure why, but he's been feeling a wave of unspoken rage towards her that's growing over time, especially since she agreed to go to a party with him. If Olivia believes he will be present at the party with her, she is mistaken because he will not be there to babysit her. His only responsibility is to drive her to the party and drop her off. That's all there is to it. That's it. Full stop.
