Chapter 1 Falling back into the lion's den

Alice gradually regained consciousness, feeling as if her body had been trampled by a wild beast.

When she opened her eyes, the sight of the man's thick black hair scared her so much that she almost screamed, quickly covering her mouth.

The memories of last night's experience flooded her mind, and as each frame replayed in her head, Alice felt like hitting herself for what had happened.

Because her boyfriend had cheated on her, she went to a bar to get drunk, and this was the result!

She didn't even dare to recall the details too clearly, let alone look at the man's face. She quietly got out of bed, picked up her scattered clothes, put them on, and left without looking back...

Two years later--

Alice boarded a plane back to her home country, holding her phone and watching a short video of her child from birth to two years old, all saved on her phone.

"Mommy!"

"Mommy!"

"Mommy!"

The baby's sweet voice calling out to her, with a cute and delicate appearance that made her smile softly and melted her heart.

Two years ago, after a night in the presidential suite, she became pregnant while still in college. She didn't hesitate to go to the hospital to have an abortion.

But when the doctor told her it was triplets, she hesitated.

She ran away from the operating room just as they were about to administer anesthesia.

Looking at her adorable two boys and one girl, she was glad she had kept them.

It was also healing her anxious heart as she returned home alone after so many years away. How long had it been? Four or five years, or maybe even six?

If possible, she never wanted to come back in her lifetime.

But her aunt had been kind to her, and her uncle's wedding anniversary was coming up.

She hadn't seen them in a long time and missed them dearly.

It wasn't that Alice didn't want to see her aunt, but Star City was filled with unpleasant memories for her.

She planned to leave as soon as the party was over...

Alice stepped into the hotel's banquet hall, wearing a white Chanel-style dress and high heels that showed off her delicate ankles. The luxurious building was filled with the unfamiliar sights and sounds of mingling guests.

She felt overwhelmed.

"Alice?"

Alice turned around to see her aunt, whom she hadn't seen in years, calling out to her uncertainly. She walked over. "Auntie." When she saw her still sprightly uncle standing beside her, memories that had been forcibly suppressed flooded her mind. "...Uncle."

"I told you it was her, but you didn't believe me. Alice, welcome back. It's been so many years," Benjamin said, looking pleased.

Bella's eyes were filled with tears as she hugged Alice. "Alice, it's really you. You've finally come back. Auntie missed you so much. Why did you take so long to come back..."

Alice felt guilty. After her mother passed away and her father didn't take care of her, her aunt took her in and raised her as part of the Davis family. She would never forget this kindness for the rest of her life...

"Let me have a good look." Bella released Alice and looked her up and down. Overwhelmed with joy, she was amazed, "My Alice is such a beauty. As soon as she enters the room, all the men's eyes are fixed on her."

"Like you," Benjamin laughed.

"Of course, I'm from the Baker Family," Bella was proud and more satisfied as she looked at her niece. "Don't leave this time. Auntie will find you a good husband."

"What?" Alice thought of her three children overseas. "Auntie, I'm only twenty years old. There's no rush..."

There was a commotion at the door, and several men came in, well-trained, standing on both sides, controlling the scene, and suddenly dispersing the happy atmosphere in the banquet hall.

Just as Alice was confused, a tall man appeared before her eyes. He wore a deep black suit and leather shoes, seemingly casual, but his powerful aura spread to every corner of the banquet hall, making people feel oppressed and unable to breathe.

Alice stared at the face from her deep memory, handsome and fierce, with a pair of hawk-like black eyes fixed on her. her mercilessly.

"Adam?" Benjamin was surprised.

Alice's scalp was numb. At that moment, she felt that she was alone, and the fragmented images began to reorganize.

The night in the presidential suite two years ago...

The sons' faces were becoming more and more alike...

All feelings of luck were paralyzed at that moment...

How could it be possible... how could he be the man from that night?

How could it be Adam, her aunt's stepson...

Adam strode over with long legs, his strong aura giving off a very unfriendly suffocating feeling as he stood in front of them at almost two meters tall.

"Adam, when did you come back?" Benjamin never thought that his estranged son would appear on his and his wife's wedding anniversary.

Bella next to him became tense and flustered.

She had always been afraid of Adam, even though he was her stepson, he was full of hostility.

"What, not welcoming?" Adam's deep and thick voice carried a non-angry but intimidating force, his sharp gaze scanning straight towards Alice's face.

Alice lowered her gaze, her face pale, trembling as if she had been targeted by a venomous snake.

"How could that be? We're so happy that you could come, Bella and I! It's a coincidence that Alice is back too!" Benjamin looked towards Alice and asked, "Do you remember Alice? She lived with us when she was in junior high."

Adam stared at Alice's face, his black eyes piercing, "Very memorable."

Alice never dared to look at Adam's face from beginning to end, avoiding his gaze, "Aunt, I... I need to go to the bathroom."

Without waiting for Bella to speak, she turned and fled, bumping into someone on the way out and only managing a quick apology before hurrying away.

In the restroom, Alice looked at herself in the mirror, as if bearing a great fear in her heart.

What should she do?

Did Adam know that the woman from two years ago was her? He couldn't possibly know, right? If he did, the Adam who was disgusted with her would never touch her!

But no matter what, she couldn't stay here! Especially with so many children's photos and videos stored in her phone.

Would Adam suspect her with her shrunken face?

No, she couldn't let him find out!

Was there a back door here?

Alice didn't even want to say hello and left, following the route of the emergency exit. Just as she took two steps, two men blocked her way. She immediately felt weak in the knees, recognizing them as Adam's bodyguards. At that moment, a waiter carrying a tray of drinks passed by. Alice stepped back and threw the tray at the bodyguards, making a loud noise Then she turned and ran!

"Chase her!"

The bodyguards were splashed with alcohol, but they couldn't be careless.

Alice ran as fast as she could, darting into the hotel kitchen...

"No entry for unauthorized personnel!"

Alice thought to herself, I don't care! She ran to the back of the kitchen, where there was an exit. The chefs usually smoked and rested there.

After rushing out, she found herself in an alleyway.

Chapter 2 Castle like mansion

Running deeper into the alley would only lead to a dead end. So Alice ran towards the main road, hoping to flag down a car and escape. However, it wasn't easy to catch a ride on the roadside.

The pursuer was hot on her heels. Alice desperately searched for a hiding place. In her panic, she noticed a black Rolls-Royce parked on the other side of the road, like a beast lurking in the darkness.

Without hesitation, she ran over and hid on the other side of the car. Leaning against the car, she panted heavily. The car was all black, and she couldn't see anything inside, only her own disheveled figure.

Her phone rang suddenly, startling her. She quickly answered it and peeked across the road, seeing the bodyguard still searching for her. She retreated back behind the car.

Bella asked on the phone, "Alice, where are you? I didn't see you in the bathroom."

"Auntie, I...I'm heading back now."

"What do you mean heading back? Back to the hotel? You're coming home with me. Your room is ready, the same one as before..."

As she listened to her aunt's words, she heard a faint sound behind her, the sound of a car window rolling down.

Alice froze and turned her head to look back. She saw the window slowly lowering, revealing a man's face, his features gradually emerging from the dim light, still hauntingly captivating.

As Alice's gaze collided with his deep, brooding black eyes, her breath caught in her throat. She couldn't hear a word the person

on the other end of the phone was saying.

"Ah!" Alice cried out in fear, taking a step back.

"Alice? What's wrong?" Bella's voice sounded urgent on the other end.

Alice quickly ended the call, stuffing her phone into her purse before turning to run.

But before she could take another step, she was blocked by the approaching bodyguard. There was nowhere left to run.

The car door opened and Adam stepped out, his long legs carrying him towards her.

"Do you know how dangerous it is to run away from me?" His voice was low and icy.

Alice turned around, panic setting in. "Why are you-"

Adam's large hand clamped down on her face, pulling her close to him.

"Ah!" His grip was so tight it felt like he was crushing her bones. Alice gritted her teeth in pain.

"I thought you were never coming back!" Adam's thin lips brushed against her ear, his black eyes gleaming with a sinister light. "Alice!"

His breath was hot against her skin, his voice like that of a demon, sending shivers down her spine. Alice's face turned pale.

Adam grabbed her by the back of her neck, roughly throwing her into the car."Ah!" The car was spacious, but Alice still hit the floor hard. Adam got in after her, slamming the door shut.

The car sped away and disappeared into the darkness, as if it was a premeditated kidnapping.

Alice looked out of the car window in panic and said, "Where are you taking me? Let me out!"

Adam leaned forward, his imposing presence intimidating. He grabbed her chin and forced her to face him, his voice cold as ice. "Are you giving me orders?"

"No, no," Alice replied.

"You used to call me brother when you were with the Davis Family. Say it again," Adam demanded.

"No, I left the Davis Family a long time ago. I came to the banquet today, I'm sorry, I won't come back to the capital again, I swear!" Alice's body trembled despite her efforts to control it.

"You seem to be afraid of me," Adam said, lifting her chin like a wild beast playing with its trembling prey.

Alice didn't dare to say a word. Adam was like a devilish madman, and the oppressive aura he exuded was even stronger than before. She could never forget the harm she suffered when she was with the Davis Family, especially now that she had three children with him.

The unknown fear overwhelmed her body and mind.

"Please, let me go. I will disappear from your sight and never come back. I beg you," Alice said, tears of fear in her eyes, her slender and beautiful neck tense. She held her handbag tightly behind her back, trying not to expose it to Adam's eyes for too long. It was as if the secret would be revealed if it was exposed for too long.

Adam's fingers on her chin rubbed gently, feeling the soft and tender skin. It was as if the scythe of the Grim Reaper was hanging over her neck.

"Since you've come back, you can't leave," Adam said coldly, pushing her face away harshly.

Alice's tears were forced out as she choked out, "Please..."

Adam lazily leaned back in his black chair, staring at the panicked girl with a dark, devilish gaze.

The Rolls-Royce tore through the night like a black panther, arriving at the private mansion in the heart of the city in just twenty minutes.

Alice remained seated on the car seat the entire time, anxiously watching as Adam stepped out of the car with an imposing presence.

"Need me to help you out of the car?" he sneered, his tall figure looming in the darkness.

Alice looked at the open car door and hesitated, but then reached over and unlocked the door on the other side, avoiding the need to climb over to the other side.

It was the shortest distance for her to exit the car without having to crawl over.

She grabbed her handbag and quickly shut the car door, immediately turning off her phone to avoid any calls from Aunt Charlotte or the children in the early morning hours in their homecountry. She was afraid that Adam would find out!

But before she could turn off her phone, she had to unlock the screen. Her hands trembled as she entered the six-digit password, but she made a mistake due to her haste and anxiety. She had to delete and re-enter the password...

Adam walked around the car, his dark eyes like a hawk, and saw Alice frozen in place, looking panicked.

"What are you waiting for?" he asked.

Alice seemed to have just caught her breath. That was close... She looked towards the castle-like mansion next to her and asked, "I... I want to leave... I can stay at a hotel... Ah!"

Before she could finish her sentence, a dark figure attacked her, pinching the back of her neck. The force was so strong that she blacked out for a moment. "It hurts... I can walk by myself, I can walk by myself..."

"Alice, let me remind you, I have no patience!" Adam rudely pushed her away.

Alice's high heels almost slipped under her feet, and she had to lean against the car to steady herself.

As they entered the mansion, Alice felt small and insignificant. It was like an invisible, luxurious net was covering her from the sky, leaving her with nowhere to escape.

The foyer alone was larger than most people's apartments.

Alice stood there, frozen and intimidated. She had a feeling she knew where they were - Adam's house.

Chapter 3 Give me something to eat

Adam casually threw his coat on the sofa, and his tall figure was clearly outlined by the black shirt, but it was too aggressive.

Alice lowered her gaze slightly, and she still had some memories from two years ago. She knew what was under that shirt - sexy, wild, and full of muscular strength.

"Why...did you bring me here?" she asked timidly.

In the face of absolute power, she wouldn't dare to confront it head-on. That would be suicidal.

However, as soon as she finished speaking, she heard a rumbling sound coming from her hungry stomach.

Alice's face turned red with embarrassment. Since she got off the plane, she hadn't even had a sip of water, let alone dinner. After going through all the scares on the way, her physical strength was almost depleted.

"It seems like you're hungry," Adam said in a cold and stern voice. "Bring it in!"

On the other side, a middle-aged man in work clothes brought a bowl of steaming noodles and placed it on the coffee table.

"Mr. Davis, the seafood noodles are ready," the butler Daniel said and stepped aside respectfully, as if he didn't exist.

But when Alice heard the words "seafood noodles," her face turned pale.

"Your dinner is ready to be enjoyed," Adam said, looking at her coldly.

"I...I'm allergic to seafood and can't eat it," Alice's voice trembled.

She was especially afraid of her allergy because once she ate seafood, the situation would become very serious, even life-threatening if not treated in time! She had experienced it before...

"So you're wasting my kindness," Adam's black eyes were filled with anger.

Alice understood. Adam was doing this on purpose. He wanted her dead!

"No...I can't eat it, I'll die..." Alice resisted, backing away.

Adam stepped forward, grabbed Alice's arm, and threw her towards the coffee table. "Eat it!"

"Ah!" Alice fell onto the coffee table, her handbag sliding out and skidding two or three meters across the floor.

The key was that, in her rush to shut down, she hadn't had time to zip up her handbag, and now her phone had fallen out.

Alice stared nervously at the exposed phone, ignoring the pain in her knee.

The key was that Adam was walking towards the phone.

As he picked up the phone, Alice's breathing and heartbeat stopped.

Adam held the phone and found that it had been turned off.

He pressed the side button and turned it on.

He found that the phone had not been turned off due to a lack of battery.

"I...I was afraid my aunt would call, so I turned it off..." Alice knew that Adam hated her aunt and saw her as an enemy.

"Password." Adam's gaze swept over her like ice.

Alice's inner fear had spread to her neck, almost suffocating her.

But she knew that the more she felt this way, the more she needed to stay calm.

"Let me..." Alice walked over, took Adam's phone, and walked to the coffee table, as if afraid someone would see the password.Adam just looked at her coldly, with a hint of sarcasm. Alice typed in her password while looking around. Suddenly, she picked up the seafood noodles on the coffee table and threw them towards Adam! With a loud bang, the noodles landed between the two of them, splashing soup and water all over the floor, blocking Adam's way. Adam's dark eyes flashed with a fierce glint as he shouted, "Catch her!" Alice was so scared that she ran even faster.

As she ran out of the lobby, she saw the bodyguards coming towards her and quickly turned to run in another direction. There was an exposed staircase on one side, and Alice hurriedly ran down it. However, it was difficult to run down the stairs in high heels, let alone in a hurry. Suddenly, she lost her footing and fell down the stairs, screaming, "Ah!" Adam caught up and stood at the top of the stairs, looking down at her coldly. At the bottom of the stairs, Alice lay on the ground, unconscious, with a head injury and blood flowing down her face.

Alice suddenly woke up, as if she had just escaped from a nightmare. She sat up, feeling dizzy and moaning. She touched her forehead and felt the gauze there. She remembered falling down the stairs and waking up in this strange room. It was already bright outside... Alice panicked and covered her chest, quickly getting out of bed and into the bathroom.

After closing the door, Alice took out her phone from her chest. She had hidden it there when she escaped, and luckily it was safe. Regardless of the situation, Alice immediately deleted all messages about the child from her phone. Anyway, there were backups on the computer in the rented room. After finishing this, she sent a message to Aunt Charlotte: "Don't call me, and don't let the child call me. I have some issues here. I will call you after it's over. Remember."

Aunt Charlotte replied: "What happened?"

Alice replied: "Don't worry, I'm fine. Please take care of the child for me."

After finishing the message, Alice walked out of the bathroom. She looked around the room, which was unfamiliar to her, but the low-key luxury style made her guess that it was a mansion. She didn't need to think too much to know that it was Adam's idea. What did he want to do? Regardless of his intentions, Alice would definitely not stay here. She had to leave!

Alice opened the door and looked for the stairs. The house was so big that she almost got lost. After going downstairs, she didn't care about her handbag and just held her phone and left. However, before she reached the large iron gate, she was stopped by someone in front of her. She almost ran into him and had to step back quickly. Alice tried to remain calm and said, "Let me leave."

"This is Mr. Davis's instruction," the bodyguard replied in a voice as cold as a machine."Where is he...where is he?"

"I don't know."

Alice knew that it was impossible to rush out like this. What should she do?

She returned to her room and called Bella on her phone. "Aunt, didn't you say that Adam had disappeared from Star City a long time ago? Why did he show up?"

If Adam were in Star City, he would have come here!

"He's not here! We haven't heard from him in years. If he was in Star City, we would know, and I wouldn't keep it from you!"

Alice believed her aunt, so why did Adam show up at her aunt and Benjamin's wedding anniversary party? Was it because of family ties?

Impossible.

Her aunt had told her that Adam had cut off all ties with Benjamin and the entire Davis family, and they had nothing to do with each other. So why...

Alice rubbed her forehead, feeling a headache coming on.

Adam didn't come to attend the party, he was waiting for her to fall into this trap. But now it was too late to react...

"Alice, what's wrong? What happened? I've been trying to call you but your phone was off."

"...Nothing, I just saw an old friend, went to the bar and drank too much..." Alice lied, because she didn't want to involve her aunt, especially since Adam was only targeting her now.
